Amazing slides for each lecture, comes highly prepared and is really easy-going and fun to talk to. Gives you good advice on post-grad opportunities. Replies to emails almost instantaneously! The course content contains a lot of detail, but if you come to lecture, she'll give you hints on where to focus for studying. Overall, a really nice person!
Very approachable person. Course content is split between physics and biology. She has a clear understanding of both so that's really helpful. Always available outside of class and easy to talk to about anything. The course outline and grading scheme are clearly given so everyone knows what to expect going in. Great prof overall.
Def puts an effort into making classes enjoyable esp with boring topics. She spends lots of time on her presentations and makes them fun too. i remember one with Angry birds to explain projectile motion. Its review but still, fun prof. very helpful and approachable. Could speak a bit louder in class.
Hidden bird course! Brenda is really personable and really tries to help us learn and not just memorize. I think she's doing her best to improve the course since many corrections were made from the course textbook. Really colourful slides :)
Such a nice, easy-going person! She really knew her stuff considering she's a PhD student. Really tries to get you to understand material, even when it's boring. Course is super easy if you pay attention to what she says is important (she'll actually say so), cuz that'll show up on the exam. Too bad she didn't teach the whole thing, only physics.
Bird course! Great teacher, but better person
Best TA ever! Loves to help :)
such a nice person! you're lucky if you get her as a TA, she's the best! makes the labs worthwhile!
Great prof. Tries to make boring stuff easier to digest. Can't blame her for course content, but she does a good job of presenting and explaning stuff.
Such an awesome TA!! Responds to emails right away and cares about how well the students do!
good lecturer, easy marks and def go to class cuz she gives you hints on what shows up on midterms and finals
Easy course if you can get through the content. Lots of content to study, but apparently if you go to class she tells you what exactly to focus on and what's just extra FYI info. Very approachable and fun prof though, would be nice to see her teach again
BEST TA EVER!!!
So helpful! Really cares about her students' success!
Such a funny TA! She makes the horrible labs a good experience! Also an easy marker.
She very good at lecture and she know the content of both biology and physics even if she teaching only physics. Can ask her anything and she make sure she go find answer for you. Very kind and helpful in and out of classroom.
Had difficulties with the physics part and she really helped me out.
Best TA ever!
Such a nice, helpful TA! Wish I had her in earlier years!
Everyone's giving her such good ratings, and I'm honest. She deserves it. She's so helpful and isn't just there to teach, but to give you advice to help you succeed as well.
Love her! best TA ever!
Really tries her best to make the lab experience fun and less stressful. My friends are all jealous cause I had such as awesome TA!
Very young and new prof, but she really tries to help everyone succeed and do well on tests. She responds to everything really quick to, like she's always there to help if we have questions.
Best ta ever! No one can beat her dedication!
Really into teaching, and is so helpful and kind. Best TA ever!
She's so into her field. Love the nerd shirts she wears to class. New one every day!
Really great at helping students after class. Makes sure everyone understands and if she makes a mistake she doesn't try to hide it but corrects it immediately after. I've been to classes taught by the prof before her and she's obviously trying to do better, and she is doing that. She cares and tries to make boring content more fun. Great person.
Gives amazing feedback for lab reports and is always willing to help. Really tries to make the lab environment better for all students.
Always willing to help. Very nice and friendly. Really loves to teach, and genuinely cares about everyone.
Best TA ever! Glad I got her twice :) She really makes a difference.
Gave awesome pre-lab talks, colourful diagrams and walked aorund the entire lab asking if we needed help with anything. Shes like the perfect TA everyone wants.
She's really helpful. But could do better in lectures. She made mistakes, like she should have double-checked things before presenting them. But she corrected them after so it's kinda ok.
Very easy course. Hidden bird course for sure. Brenda's really helpful and makes sure you understand the content instead of just giving you stuff to memorize. She's nice, supportive, and answers questions almost immediately, both in and out of class. She really cares!
Really great TA! Going to miss her, cause she's fun and makes everything that much better :)
I was so scared about my second lab because my first one was awful due to the really mean TAs, but Brenda made it easy and comfortable. She's a genuinely nice person, and she really wants everyone to do well. She's a fair marker. I wish there are more TAs like her.
Best TA ever! She's the nicest person!
She gives so much feedback, it's obvious she spends time trying to get everyone to the same level. Really enjoyed her as a TA
Probably the nicest and fairest TA you'll ever get. gives a TON of feedbac too
Had her a couple years ago. Best TA I've ever had still! Glad she's a prof now. She absolutely deserves it. You should take her class.
really like the feedback she gives and the marking outlines she attaches to each report when she hands them back. she is really fair and justifies all of her final grades with lots of comments and feedack.
Loved her as a TA, but hated the pop quizzes in this class! But she's my fav ta. She really loves to teach and wants everyone to learn.
really nice person overall. enthusiastic about the cousre and tries to get everyone to uderstand and not just do
Always available for help in and out of class. responds to emails right away, even right before class starts! Really great for last-minute questions. Also walks aroun the lab asking people if they need help with concepts. really knows her stuff
Tries to make content more fun and understandable. A bit quiet during lectures, but classroom is small so it's okay. But she really knew her stuff and wanted everyone to understand instead of memorizing. Also had clear grading outlines set out at the beginning of the term. Very prepared and awesome slideshows in lecture.
Really puts an effort into everything she does. Gives really good feedback and doesn't try to screw you over. She's fair and always willing to help.
love her! super helpful and made life easier. her comments on lab reports have helped me succeed in other classes
Really supports students all the way. Goes out of her way to help everyone. Very approachable, easy marker.
Such a helpful prof. You really feel like she's trying to make you understand everything. She also indicates what's important to know for tests and what's additional info. Come to lectures and you'll be cruzing through the course. She's also real cute and funny!
(: Good times with Brenda! She deserves an award!
I don't think there's a better TA at this university. I've pretty much taken all the bio lab courses, and have had over 30 different TAs. I've even TA'ed before with these people. Just speaking the honest to God truth here, if you get Brenda, you know you'll have a great term cause she makes everything that much better. No lies here.
Kinda quiet, but maybe cuz I sat at the back. But she's really good at teaching. I'm surprised she doesn't teach first year bio courses. Her slides are probably the best I've seen.
Good ta. Helpful. Speaks english, thank god.
She's so nice and helpful! Lots of feedback on report and fast to respond to email.
Bruh, she the real mvp. Such a champ. True homie
Walks around a lot during lab to help students. Real personable and caring. Responds to emails instantaneously. Really nice. Gives really nice marking schemes when marking. No complaints! Best TA I've had so far!
Really good slides and really nice. knows her stuff surprised she d oesnt teach this course
Subbed a few of the lectures when the main prof was away. Her slides are amazing! They are clean, clear, easy to read and she makes the content more bearable. Seems like a good person.
She really cares if the class knows the subject matter and she will put in crazy hours offering help sessions if you need it. She is also very respectful of her students and really wants them all to get a good final grade.
She spends time organizing practice problems and packages for us. She always extends office hours and schedules help sessions. Please teach math 118 Brenda. ;-;
She is an amazing professor who works very hard to ensure that her students know what they're doing. You can expect emails from her at 3am because of how many hours she puts into her work. She has a passion for her students and always extends her hours before midterms and finals.
Dr. Lee is the sweetest prof I have ever met. She really cares that her students do well in class, and is frequently available to meet with you outside of class if you have any questions or concerns regarding calculus (or life in general). Her teaching is excellent and she makes me feel confident that I will do well on my exams. Highly recommended.
She's the best prof I have had this term by far. She goes out of her way to help students and has so many extra help sessions, both in and outside of class. Her notes are amazing and clear, and she gives advice on so many things apart from just calculus. She cares about her students and wants them to succeed. I'd take her class again if I could!
Dr. Lee is by far my favorite prof, and she gives her students as many opportunities as possible to succeed. She can cover a lot in class, but thoroughly explains everything, and during midterms and finals she will hold extra office hours and will host review sessions to ensure the highest rate of success. I would take any class offered by her.
She's the best prof i've ever had. She is willing to spend extra time with every student and explain concepts in different ways until you get it. She responds quickly and always available to meet up. She's also quite accomplished and provides a lot of career and academic advice. much respect for her.
Overall, great teacher!
She had so many Pokemon shirts it was dope
Best prof
Great lectures, practice problems, help sessions, and T-Shirts. Also, she told some great jokes in class.
Best prof ever
By far the best
Amazing professor!!
Funny, engaging and overall amazing prof! Tried to make sure everyone did the best they could
She is an absolutely phenomenal prof. She cares deeply about her students and really goes out of her way to help them do well. Really helpful both inside and outside of class and always willing to answer questions. On top of that she's a great lecturer and has tons of examples to explain concepts. Overall one of my favourite profs ever.
So caring and approachable. She really knows her stuff and is quite knowledgeable for her age which is surprising. She's an absolute gem. If you go to her office hours, she is willing to sit down with you, sometimes for hours, and chat about anything from course material to university life. She helped a lot with my stress levels during exam time.
Amazing prof, really goes out of her way to help students.
You can tell she really cares about her students. She also teaches in a very clear and concise way without any fluff. But if you want to learn more, she's happy to talk about it outside of class. Really knows her stuff and great personality.
She's so young and smart!!!! She encourages the class so much to never stop trying. Always tries to give advice for success, and she is an amazing lecturer. Her notes are the best I've ever seen from any prof, and she is very easy to follow along in lectures.
The best professor I have ever had and probably the best I will ever had. She is so organized. Manages lectures well so that you end up with a bunch of review lectures before the final (SUPER HELPFUL). Great lectures and extremely neat writing and drawings on the board. You can take great notes in her class. BRENDA EQUALS HAPPINESS
really chill and nice. Understand we have other courses to worry about and interviews.
Great understanding prof. Teaches the course, trims the fat.
Our class did so much better than the other sections because of all the review sessions and support from Brenda! You can tell she cares about her students and will go above and beyond to help them out. DEFINITELY go to class because she can explain the hardest concepts in the simplest way possible.
Without Brenda, I would have failed the course again. Literally. She had office hours throughout the week. She even came in on the weekends for office hours when I couldn't make it. Math has always been hard for me, and she made it so easy. I've never been able to understand Math better with any other prof.
One of the harder Calc courses I took. Difficult final, but she gave a lot of extra review sessions. Awesome shirts. Really cares for students, and gives fair but long exams. You really have to study what she tells you to study. She gives a lot of hints but I did a lot of practice so did well compared to some of my buddies.
Really hard grader even though I did what was done in class. Not that impressed.
Amazing prof with an ability to make difficult concepts much easier than they seem. Gives you a breakdown of what's to come in the final exam, prepares review packages and extra review sessions and extra office hours. All around solid prof who deeply cares for her students.
She's dope. Made a boring subject more fun. Always there for the students, and is happy to sit down and review everything with you outside of class. I went to her office hours every week.
Amazing lecturer - quirky/kind. Have to go to class to do well on exams. She gives a lot of hints for exams. If you don't come to class or office hours, you're missing out! Should get better TAs though, they were tough graders and in my opinion unfair, but I approached her about it every time and she fixed it quick. Genuinely cares. Will miss her.
Best prof I have ever had. Hands down. Her notes are a godsend.
She's honestly the prof everyone needs and deserves. She really cares for each student and puts herself in our shoes. Very easy to talk to about anything and opens her doors any time despite her busy schedule. She has amazing notes, and always tries her best. Amazing prof!! Wish I could have her again in the future!
One of the most genuine profs around. Really wants students to do well and it shows. She offered a lot of advice for studying, university life, and work. Very personable and knowledgeable, and easy to approach.
She's an amazing prof you'll be really lucky if you get her!!!!!!!!!!!
She's a blessing.
She is the best prof by far. She will go the extra mile for her students and you'll be really glad to get her as your prof. I also have Miss Brenda for next term for Math 118 and I am really excited and lucky to get her again. :)
Genuinely a wonderful person and a caring professor. Goes the extra mile for her students and sets an example of how all instructors should be.
She really sets the standard for what teaching at a post-secondary level should look like. Absolutely amazing lectures coupled with a nice and caring personality; you will be lucky if you get her.
Best prof at Waterloo. It's not even fair to compare her to the rest of them. Brenda is literally the definition of an ideal teacher. She can actually relate to students cause she was a student not too long ago and I think she is possibly the youngest to age as far as a prof can get. She's super knowledgeable and goes above and beyond to help you.
By far the most caring prof I've had. The class average on our midterm was a 56% so she stayed up the whole night re-marking everyone who didn't pass to make sure there weren't any marking errors. She also emailed me personally (since I didn't do that well) to say that she encourages me to see her sometime to go over things that I didn't understand
Bruh, if you're in 128 and have her, go to her review. Wasn't in her class but went to her review and she really saves your ass. Gives you hints on whats on the exam because she reviewed stuff my prof barely taught on. Great prof, go to her review even if you ain't in her class and she will help you so so much
She held a 4 hour review session before the exam on a Sunday, and literally went through EVERY TOPIC covered in this course. She even stayed up til 5am to write 40 pages of full solutions for us to study from. I have never met a prof more caring, honest, and dedicated. If I had known she was like this sooner, I'd have attended each of her lectures.
All hail Brenda's class notes and review packages
Amazing prof, really tries to help you do well on the exam. Spends a lot of personal time trying to help her students.
The sweetest and most caring prof you'll ever have! Had the pleasure of having her for two courses, hoping there will be more to come!
Brenda puts in so much effort to make sure everyone learns something and gets a good grade! I have met no other prof who puts students before anything. She really works hard to make sure everyone is ready and prepared for the midterm and the exam.
She's really nice and will do her best to help you ace that midterm and final!! it's actually insane, she's so dedicated to making that package, sending out solutions and answering last minute emails that she probably doesn't sleep near finals.
If you ever are fortunate enough to have Brenda as your prof, you're going to have the bet time in her classes. She always has her student's best interest in mind and does everything in her power for them to do well. Her notes are the prettiest and clearest, making a "hard"subject like calc easier to break down. Definitely my fav prof ever! :)
writes the most beautiful and clear notes for every single lecture. and really seems to care about her students
Has the best slideshows ever! Seems like a complicated course, but she really simplifies it so that you have a general overview of the different types of models and concepts needed. Assignments were a bit tough. It was her first time teaching, thought she did an amazing job. Very easy person to talk to.
Brenda cares! Only bad thing is that her lectures sometimes lack clarity of understanding.
She has the best notes ever! Her lectures are entertaining. She was going through a difficult time and still was there for us. Lectures were clear. Would prefer if the notes were a bit more in depth.
This professor is amazing! She has great lecturing skills and posts all lecture notes on LEARN. She makes an effort to help the class succeed by being clear about important material, making herself available for office hours, and offering grade-boosters. She is friendly with the class and shares funny stories/what's happening in her life. A UW gem
She's a really funny professor who actually cares about her students. Her review packages are a gift sent from heaven , and she's extremely accessible outside of class, and even her in class presence is very approachable and lucid.
Most helpful professor I've ever met. 236 is a python course, for those who dont have a solid coding background like me, it is not difficult to code with the knowledge learned in class. And she will organize review sections before midterm and final which is extremely helpful!
Amazing instructor. She devotes so many hours of her own time to make sure that we're doing well in the course; whether answering questions at 2 AM, holding 1-on-1 tutoring sessions for everyone who wants them, and being super understanding of students and our learning process. She's also one of the nicest people I've met in general!
Difficult course! Prof. Lee usually tries to simplify the concepts and summaries which are very helpful to students like me who don't have the time to watch tons of videos and pages of notes each week plus do homework assignments and study for quizzes on top of everything else. Highly accessible office hours any day and hour of the week.
I will also be a stan of Professor Lee. One of the MOST caring and genuine professors I have had at Waterloo. I respect the absolute HECK out of her.
Brenda is the best prof you will ever get, I've never had anyone be more patient with me when I didn't understand basic stuff.
Brenda Lee is the most amazing prof I've ever had. She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Tries to make sure everyone understands what's going on and does REALLY HELPFUL review sessions.
Professor Lee made physics enjoyable even though I didnt take it in high school. She has rigid office hours that revolve around student's schedules and is extremely helpful in them. Seriously, I wouldn't recommend a better professor for this course.
Prof Brenda is really caring and nice. She listens to students and you could tell she really tries her best to get everyone to understand concepts in different ways. The course wasn't structured well at all but she had a lot of office hours and review sessions which saved me in the course. Had really great notes and powerpoints to study off of.
She's the best, what else is there to say?
I had Brenda in Spring 2020 for this class and she was amazing. She held hours upon hours of online meetings just for individual and group support of students because we just switched to online classes. Her recorded lectures are easy to follow along with and she held weekly live sessions to go through main concepts and practice problems. Bless her.
Prof Lee made me look forward to coming to physics
Brenda is by far the most caring and accomodating prof I've had at UW. Her lecture notes are super concise and her tutorial sessions are very helpful. Would take her a million times if I could!
Best prof I've ever had +++++
Video lectures could use some improvement, but otherwise a very nice professor
Great prof. Very caring. Held weekly lab sessions online that really helped as I was new to coding. Had a Discord server and that was very useful. Content is really tough and the tests were too difficult and not focused enough on the content taught in labs.
The best professor.
She a GOAT. Nuff said.
Best prof Best prof Best prof Best prof Best prof Best prof Best prof Best prof Best prof Best prof Best prof Best prof Best prof Best prof Best prof Best prof Best prof
Really great lecturer. First real biophysics course I have taken instead of having it being split up into biology and physics. Focused a lot on current research. Beware of the essay project - it will take a lot of time.
Dr. Lee genuinely cares about her students. She's really understanding and supportive, especially when people are struggling. You can tell she wants students to do well, not just get through the course. One of the more thoughtful professors I've had.
