It might be nice if she actually showed up when we had a guest speaker...you know, show some interest in the course perhaps. Tutorials are AWESOME, TAs AMAZING. No final, which is nice and the journals are an easy mark if you incorporate the readings and tutorial content. Lectures are a snooze fest except for guest speakers who have been great!

I will have to disagree with most of the comments here. This class is not an easy class. Given the course load, this should at least be 6 credits. Countless hours of DVD readings, annoying emails, and long readings. Journals also takes longer than what was stated on the syllabus. Not a GPA booster, EASY B, but hard A. If a B boosts your GPA,goahead

This was one of the best classes I've ever had at SFU. I was admittedly very skeptical of the whole RJ thing but the course really opened my eyes. Brenda was also our TA and our tutorial group was very tight by the end of it! Course is reading and writing intensive. Journals are marked pretty hard by the TAs. Prof and TAs shove RJ down your throat, any dissenting opinion will earn you a poor mark. My only complaints: not enough instructions on what they were looking for in the journals (besides vague references to class, articles, and book) and they were marked HARD by the TAs. I waited 3 years to get into this class because the enrolment system sucks. Brenda does not cover ANYTHING about psychology and barely touches on her own lecture slides. No point in going to lecture, honestly don't waste your money if she is the prof. You won't learn anything or benefit from this. Extremely disappointed and SFU needs to fix this.

Brenda is very messy and goes on rambles during lectures without making a point. She quotes more people in her lecture slides than actually giving us information and definitions. DO NOT TAKE!!

Brenda is genuinely one of the worst profs I have had as a 4th year. She is so messy, we are a month into the course and she has been so unprepared. She doesn't reply to e-mails AT ALL, her lectures are so jumbled that I don't even watch them anymore because they teach nothing. Only plus is the TA so far is absolutely lovely

I cannot urge you enough donot take this course. The assignment guidelines and vague, Tutorials are a waste of time and the work load is huge and sporadic simply because this prof is unorganized.

Brenda's teaching methods are completely USELESS for the average person. Her lecture slides are mainly confusing quotes and she ramles about everything and anything that could not be any less related to the course. I have attended every lecture and tutorial and have not learned a single thing about psychology or criminology. DO NOT TAKE

Brenda's lectures are pretty much pointless. Assignment guidelines/rubric are nonexistent. She is also extremely disorganized. The tutorials are just games and ice breaker activities. The TAs are nice but Brenda does not seem to put any effort into this class. We had a critical essay assignment due during reading week so that was quite annoying.

unorganized does not begin to describe her, does not post/open materials on time, provides criteria for papers then reveals weeks after the due date that it was graded on criteria never told to students to make it more difficult to get an A, the semester is almost done and we have not received a single grade back for the entire course

Horrible, most of the things she rambles on about in lecture has nothing to do with course material. I understand that cultural appreciation is important, but I'm here to learn about criminology, not indigenous studies.

My friend took crim 103 with J. Wong, learned about psychopaths, drugs, m*rderers, and interesting theories of crime. In this class with Morrison though, you'll learn none of this, or she will touch on a topic lightly and that's it. The class is easy, no exams, but if you want to learn about interesting topics don't take it with her.

Overall Brenda is a good prof but her lecture can get a bit boring. Also she talks more about other subjects rather than what the course is suppose to be about.

Brenda, while passionate about what she is talking about, made this course not at all what it is supposed to be. every topic we covered pretty much had nothing to do with psychological explanations of crime. no point in going to any of the lectures as none of the information in them is useful

Do not make my mistake and listen to the prof ratings. Most of the course was her talking about anything else other than the course content. Instructions were unclear, most tutorials students would hound the TA for instructions. Everyone was confused on the course. This classes content isn't difficult, only difficult because the prof.

If you can take this course with a different prof DO IT. Brenda is horribly disorganized and taught no core concepts. We got random emails for podcasts to listen to for Monday lecture ON A SUNDAY NIGHT. No real grading criteria, it was posted on lecture slides and wasn't even written by her. This should be an easy class but she makes it awful.

so disappointed as I was excited to learn the topics that shouldve been covered in class. What a waste of money and time. Slides filled with quotes- and worksheets were due every week (you can submit them late though in exchange for marks off). She obviously has white guilt which probably causes her to focus on irrelevant indigenous topics.

She was the best prof i've ever had at SFU please don't fall for all the low ratings they all want to get marked hard and given hard assignments I don't understand what type of people like to get extra work it doesn't make sense. Brenda is amazing she's very nice and understanding as well.

I tried to switch classes but failed. This course is NOT psychological and is all Indigenous based- which is important but not what is described when enrolling. The slides are all quotes. There are 'worksheets' every week as well and the final is 12 pages which had the criteria changed multiple times and locked until asked not to be. Don't take
