I took Dr. Tondi's class over the summer, she teaches the class really well and makes the subject very clear. You have to attend class to get an A, but her lectures are interesting.
CLASS WAS GREAT. VERY HELPFUL AND WORTH TAKING, BETTER THAN THE FAIRFAX CAMPUS. GREAT LECTURES AND LAB. YOU LEARN ALOT. YOU MUST GO TO RECIEVE AN A BUT DEF. WORTH IT
Dr. Tondi is a great teacher. She also loves to give extra credit for things she says won't be on the test. So if she says that - learn it. Class is moderately easy if you know anything about science.
Dr. Tondi is an extremely caring, and nice teacher. She paces her lectures making them clear and understandable, and will clear up any confusion. Her tests aren't brutal, but you do need to study for them. She's always available to help someone and wants to see them succeed. A great teacher.
She is the best teacher I have every had at George Mason University!! She is so amazing how she teaches!!
She is a great teacher. She knows what she is talking about, and unconfuses me. When I have a question, and am about to raise my hand, she answers it in her lecture. She is very clear about what we need to know for tests, and gives us many extra credit oppurtunities. The BEST teacher I have ever had!
She is a really good professor. As long as you go to class and take notes word for word there is no reason for you not to get an A. Book is never used other than as a reference to clarify things.
I took Bio 124 with Beck and it was terrible. So, I took it again over the summer with Tondi and she was awesome! She made everything seem so much easier and she had powerpoints you could print out before class. Tests aren't too bad.
This was her first time teaching this course and although you had to study for the class she screwed everyone over with a brutal final exam with no curve!
She is not fair when it comes to grading. She would cut points like crazy and if you ask her why she always says one thing "NOT DETAILED ENOUHG" I don't know what kind of details she wants on the exams. She mentally toutured the student just by not giving the credit student deserved on the exam. I would say "WORST" teacher ever!!!
Horrrrible grader!!!! If you dont write down EXACTLY what she is looking for she will not give you full credit or sometimes even partial credit, worst grader ive ever had... DO NOT TAKE HER for bio 425...her classes are not to bad, she knows what she is talking about but she expects too much when grading essay portions of tests
i wish i never registered for this class...
i personally, as well as many others, didn't like her class. On the final and cumulative test she doesn't tell you what so ever...what's going to be on the test. Basically, if you haven't really studied at in previous testsand/or quiz ur starting from stratch. In any test she doesnt tell u whats gonna be on it. DONT TAKE HER, believe me.
she is very hard teacher she expect to much detail in her exams epesilay the essay part
Hmm...I don't why everyone think she's hard? I mean you should all check the course number, 425!!!!! It's not going to be like Bio 104. Yes she is very detail oriented, but hey it's a physiology class. Shes very nice and respectful. As for the final, it wasn't terrible. All in all a good professor!!!
Very good professor, one of the best and most helpful in the bio dept. Of course her exams are hard. This is Human Physiology we're talking about..not just some non-degree intro to bio. Yes her exams are extensive, yes she does like exact terms.. however~ as long as you attend class and go over the powerpoints, you will do very well in class.
Physiology is a tough course, but she made it the best it could be. Very clear powerpoints, which the exams come straight from. No suprises, and she's very sweet and willing to help.
I took her anatomy class over the summer and thought she was the GREATEST. Tests are straight from the slides and she would make it really easy to understand and remember things. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER!
I absolutely admire Dr. Tondi!! She is one of the BEST professor at Mason. Her class is very interesting and her exams are fair, not impossible!! You have to read your slides and attend lectures to do well. I highly recommend her :)
Great Professor! Makes classes interesting with her jokes and examples. Very helpful and obviously loves what she's doing which makes class even more interesting! You get lots of opportunity for bonus points if you buy an iclicker. Exams are okay if you study hard, they're from lecture notes, and the final is comprehensive and mandatory.
Everyone is correct in all the other things said, straight forward exams and no text, etc. Not a fan the way she administers tests. Its really annoying when you have to go hunting for your exam, plus she takes forever to get started on the lecture. She also constantly reminds you of the same things, like she's addressing middle-schoolers.
The class is definitely not easy, but it's a 400 level class so it's not supposed to be easy anyways. Going to lecture is very important for this class as she'll tell you exactly what to study for her tests during lecture. The tests are hard, but bonus iclicker points more than make up for the hard questions. Overall, she's tough but reasonable.
Very hard class. The exams are multiple choice and essay. Her questions are very tricky. It was like solving riddles instead of being based on what was learned. She is very knowledgable about the subject matter. Near impossible to email. She will either ignore your message or only answer half of it. If you take this class be prepared to study a lot
Tondi is a very good teacher and her tests are straight foreward. if you read the chapters and look at the lecture notes she gives you, you will do fine. It is a hard class, but she explains things well and is very helpful if you ask. I would definatly recommend her!
I have no idea why so many people are hating. She is NOT a hard professor. Her exams are right out of her slides. If you put the time into understanding the material then you will not get tricked by her multiple choice exams and you will know exactly what she is asking on essay questions. I wish more professors at mason were like her.
Tondi is one of the best Biology professors at Mason. Her analogies and lectures literally sink right through you. The best way to understand her material is to go to class with the printed slides and a recorder. Record every lecture of hers and try to write down every detail on the notes by paying a lot of attention. Exam from lecture & slides.
Must study on your own..a lot. Really nice, posts all power points online.
She is an amazing Human Phys teacher. Aside from the annoying iclickers that you must take at the beginning of most every class, the class is very enjoyable. She is extremely knowledgeable and approachable.
She speaks very fast and is a bit unorganized, but she's very helpful if you see her during office hours. The class is not easy, but an A is very doable! She gives extra credit quiz points. Make sure you study for them because they really help your grade in the end. You must study hard for this class, 40% of the exam is written response.
I have never had a professor for whom I have no respect.. until Tondi. It seems as though she teaches because it's her job, not because she truly wants to educate. She is a horrible professor whose lectures were useless. She treated the class as though we were idiots and showed us no respect. Easy enough class though. Got an A without trying.
Is not the least bit concerned about students. Does not curve, has an additude with students for no reason, Ask her a question and she reply with I don't care answer. Do not take her in the summer, She thinks reading days are stupid if she can't cover her material. She puts four organ systems on one exam and expects you to remember minor details.
Dr. Tondi is nice in lecture, unforgiving in person. Gives block grades with a little room by altering the +/- grade. Slides are extremely helpful. Using the slides in conjunction with the sample essay questions to make model answers is a very effective way to study. does NOT use her old exams!(except for a few common ones). Summer class is hard!
She is actually really good. She has lots of energy and comes across as a normal person, unlike a lot of other professors. I got an A without cracking the book, and even got a perfect score on the third exam. You basically just need to memorize and completely understand the powerpoints that she posts on blackboard. I would take her again.
Dr.Tondi is awsome. Her lectures are very clear. Just make sure to have a recorder because there is a lot to remember so RECORD her lectures and afterwards review everything she went over in class. Study hard and it will pay off at the end. Go to her office hours if you need help. She is very sweet and very helpful.
currently in her class now and after the first exam...OMG the essay questions were graded rediculously and the amount of detail needed was just wrong. Bad prof.
I recommend this professor if you would like to have short answer question for about 30% of exams, have to take iclicker quizzes, have to listen to her say "I don't understand why I have to teach you this material, my kids are doing it in 5th grade!," if you want to feel belittles, not allowed to ask questions, or have your questions ignored.
okay I clearly understand this is an upper level biology class. Prof Tondi does not grade the essay questions fairly. She is too lazy to specific what she is looking for.. Because of her lack of details in her questions it gives her opportunity to give students the very minimal of points. DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU DON'T HAVE TOO!!!
Anatomy is extremely difficult no matter who teaches it. Professor Tondi is an excellent teacher -- especially in her office hours. She is enthusiastic about what she teaches, and has a great ability to break down complicated ideas into manageable pieces. I highly recommend her, but bear in mind you will have to work.
You must attend classes and study a lot weeks in advance before exams.
Test are extremely hard you need to study way in advance. I recommend not taking this coarse if you have a heavy class schedule already because it is a lot of work. The lab for this class is a lot fun though.
i took the 425 over the summer this year by itself in the first section ,and study hard for it and i think is is the best professor for the subject! it is 400 level class that need a lot of work but believe me it will be pay off and the end :-)
i took with her Biol 425 over this summer of 2011 , she is wonderful , she has an excellent way of teaching the subject, i cant wait to see her again in BioL 430
Dr. Tondi is extremely knowledgeable. She has a funny story about almost anything. Makes understanding AP absolutely clear. Class is a lot of work and requires that you do not procrastinate in studying. Its mostly just memorizing, if you're good at that you will ace this class. Get to know Dr. T and enjoy this course, you will be glad you did.
The amout of effort you put into this class does NOT REFLECT ur grade... Although her exams dont seem ba when ypu take them, after she grades them and you see that she was lokking for 5x the detail that ypu wrote and didnt even have time to write, she takes numerous points off here and there which add up. Is it possible to pass the class? Yes. But is it worth it with amount of effort you put in? No.
Presents the material clearly. Lab contributes to a large portion of your final grade. Study for the tests by memorizing the slides. Get the concepts from lecture, text, Mastering A&P, and Wiki. On the exam, a wrong answer will knock off a point based on the philosophy that an equally wrong decision in clinicals would hurt/kill the patient. Cool.
Dr. Tondi is an awesome professor-definitely one of the best in the bio department! She is extremely clear and breaks up long lectures by telling witty anecdotes that relate to the material. While any A&P class is going to be hard, Dr. Tondi is clear about her expectations/tests, so your grade is really based on how much you study.
The amount you have to know is way too high for a 100-level class, so be prepared to devote lots of extra time to this class. The average for each test is always low. Memorize each power point slide (usually 60 slides per exam) because 30% of the exams are short answer.
You need to go to class to get notes but guess what? you won't be getting notes, 80% of my notes were from google. So it's hard to know what she's specifically looking for when you have your notes from other resources. Type of teacher that believes she's right and its the student's fault even when the class average for each test is low. avoid
Apparently she used to post Powerpoints and sample essays on blackboard- she doesn't anymore and it makes her by far the WORST Bio teacher you could get. She's extremely fast, only allows you one chance to get notes down, and is constantly behind; we never finished covering everything. And yet she'll blame students for the low class averages.
WOW- Someone came on here 10x to bash Dr. Tondi thinking we wouldn't notice... I'm pretty appalled. Dr. Tondi is an amazing instructor. Had her for 430/431. Funny, the 124/125 kid can't cut it & is blaming her! It's HARD WORK. Recorded lectures & replayed them @ home. Reviewed EVERY slide for exams. Doable, but no, not easy. B 1st sem, A 2nd sem.
The class is difficult and she does not post powerpoints which makes it difficult to review for test. I do think she is very clear and she knows how to "dumb it down" to make the material easier to understand. I went to every class and honestly studied and got a B. However I dont think she's a horrible professor! I enjoyed most classes.
As much as I enjoyed her class & passed it, I don't think she's a very good professor. Most of the time, I had to get someone to tutor me from the other biology's class. Her exams are almost impossible complete on time because she likes to trick you with more than one correct answer so you actually second guess yourself when you take her test.
Had an awful experience in this class. I attended class regulardly, studied hard, and generally worked really hard for this class but it never paid off-- her tests are impossible and the depth of knowledge she expects you to have is ridiculous for the huge amount of material each test covers. Whatever you do, avoid taking Tondi at all costs.
I do agreethat she did rush through the notes at times and did fall behind, but Tondi makes up a reasonable class. It is hard, but this course is the basis of many majors&it is highly necessary to know all the info.I thought she was terrific and managed to pull an A out of the class. And no,I am not an exception.Just put in hard work.READ THE TEXT!
horrible grader!! as much as I studied I never got a good grade. Test are extremely difficult and very detailed. You have to read every single page of the book and memorize EVERYTHING. Attedance isn't mandatory. She is very good at teaching but her test are just terrible. Test=multiple choice questions-short answer, labeling fig.6 Icleaker quizzes.
I read the book and I studied very hard, but never got a good grade :( How in the world can we pay attention if we are wasting our time just writing down her notes from the power point?? I just hated that class. ok, she is good at teaching, but her grading style is not fair.
I would highly recommend her to my friends. Use her lecture outlines to take detailed notes during class, and then study well before exams, you should have no problems. She's a great lecturer and sometimes makes topics more interesting by discussing them in the context of common diseases/health problems.
AVOID!!! she flys through the PPT lectures and posts very vague outlines for you to study with. Her tests focus on very small details that you can't really focus on because you have to study so much else. TAKE OTTO IF YOU CAN. Seriously stay away from Tondi
She is very good instructor for this class, she knows the material very good and has ability to deliver it in a great way. The thing you have to remember is : students need to study for this class from day one and keep on doing that until the end, you will get the grade that you deserve
This was the worst and hardest summer course I have ever taken. I know summer courses are supposed to be quick, but she expected way too much out of a five week course. She rushed the lectures, and would never answer any questions fully. She would also put confusing questions on the exams with even more confusing answers AVOID HER!!
I'm a senior w/ a really good GPA & I have NEVER, EVER, EVER worked as hard for any other class thus far. WORST experience of my life! I have gray hairs now, thanks Dr.T. Doesn't curve, but that's a privilege and not a right. MC are manageable. Short answers are to be answered a "certain" way or you lose major points. AVOID her during the summers!!
Difficult class under constraints of 5 week summer schedule. I studied 5-7 hours for an entire month to barely get an A. Almost made me lose 4.0. She is not very helpful and grades exams with the intention of taking points off your exam. Average on tests were ~70 with ten point bonus. Do not take in summer.
She's the worst professor ever. Not helpful at all. You can't ask her questions during the exams and in 20 years, she has only curved twice. Once by 0.08 points and that apparently was such a hugeeee deal. Come on! Work with your students...it's not the students (like she said in class that's at fault), it might be her!!!
Moves too fast during powerpoints and refuses to go back. She posts outlines online for you to use. From what I have heard, she is the only prof. That doesn't post all of the powerpoints. She asks if anyone has questions and if you raise your hand to ask one, she gives a quick response and doesn't make sure you fully understand.
Harder than Bio 125 when it comes to exam content. She posted the answer key to an exam the night before it was supposed to be administered. Ended up giving exam again on same day as final, which was inconvenient. She also said "retard" a few times which was kinda unprofessional. Not the end of the world if you have her but it's a lot of work.
No slides posted, she lectures & gives you outlines to fill out for the notes. I liked it this way..I wrote down pretty much everything she said, & recorded the lectures. I would read my notes & refer to the recording for clarification. Her exams were hard & I didn't like that MC were worth 2 pts each. I got a A- so its doable but lots of effort.
I took Tondi's class in 2011-12 and I just finished gross anatomy at dental school. I did very well in gross and I think some of that success is attributable to having done well in Tondi's class. If you can't handle Tondi's class, let me tell you, getting an A in gross is like studying for finals week everyday for six weeks straight.
She goes through the information quickly and sometimes explains it well. It didn't matter how I studied or how well I studied the exams were HARD! She was not very helpful when I went to her office hours. She didn't seem to want to answer my question. Overall I had a HARD time with her class. I DO NOT recommend her! She does post grades quickly.
not approchable, not helpful at all when I asked her questions in her office. The tests are very hard. I have her also for the lab and she's so picky in grading the quizzes. NOT FAIR in total AVOID HER!!! iF YOU CAN TAKE IT WITH ANOTHER TEACHER
AVOID HER BY ALL MEANS!!! Extremely rude, not helpful at all. Exams are extremely hard no matter how hard you study. She expects you to know basically everything for exam.
Class is extremely hard and she is not helpful at all. she always seems over worked and over stressed. Not an approachable and nice professor. I also had her for lab. she make the lab technically difficult to prove professionalism. DO NOT TAKE HER!!! Take Dr. Kalifa if you can for lab or any other professor.
This class is very tough and time consuming but Dr. Tondi is a great teacher. Best way to study is to attend the lectures and read through her slides while listening to lecture recordings. She doesn't put random or tricky questions on exams BUT, expects you to know a lot and gives little partial credit in the short answer section
She's clear and her lectures are thorough. That being said, her exams are really tough and she's very picky about partial credit. And she doesn't curve. Lab alone requires considerably more time/effort than most other classes and is a huge chunk of your grade. If you don't need this class, don't take it.
Terrible professor. Makes the course way to hard. Her exams are unfair and ridiculously difficult. She just teaches from her power points slides and when it comes to the test, she expects you to know everything. I highly recommend no one to take her unless you want to fail.
Very tough class and she is definitely the harder professor. That being said, she really knows her stuff and it IS doable but you have to work very hard and take lab very seriously as well. It's not a class where most can get by on cramming. It's a lot of information and you have to stay on top of it the whole semester.
This is a tough class. The material is complex, and the volume of information is kind of overwhelming. Dr. Tondi is a good lecturer. She is knowledgeable. exams are challenging, but there are no surprises. It's a 400-level class intended for pre-health students. Adjust your expectations accordingly.
THE WORST. avoid her in the summer!!!
This is a difficult class in regards to the content but Tondi did a really good job to make the info accessible. I recorded lecture, made my own study guides, used online sources and took advantage of lab. It requires a lot of extra effort, but that's what high level courses will make you do in the futre so get used to it now.
the class is hard. you have to work and study hard both in lab and lecture. she is very strict
Don't buy the textbook! Her slides are sufficient. She's OK. Good lecturer, definitely knows her stuff, but don't expect an easy class. Got a B+ my first semester, but with physio...and a bit of laziness on my part, set for a C+ this semester. It's a hard class...but I enjoyed it. Lab is horrendous though, super difficult!
I advise students to not take this class. I understand that you want to show off on your transcripts when you apply for medical/dental/pharm/opt or whatever grad school. Dr. Tondi wants your answers on tests and labs to be very specific and her MC questions are hard, yet she gives no curve. take the 100 level with a different professor.
This class is very hard, prepare to STUDY. she never curves or tries to understand students in any way. she is extremely strict and expects you to know everything. exams are ridiculously hard and her grading is very unflexible. I regret taking her class, there is no one else to teach this course so you get stuck with her if you have to take it.
To put it in a few words, I'll say she is tough, but she knows what she talking about, there is no question about that. However, this isn't an "accessible" classroom. Some of her policies, I had difficulty accepting. She doesn't answer questions during exams, expects you to know her slides 100%. It is a doable class, but very, very difficult.
Absolutly awful. She races through the book and the tests are worded in a way that makes it impossible to get an A. Avoid at all costs if you plan on having any success. Good person, Bad teacher
I loved the class, but not her. Anatomy & Physiology is one of the few biology classes that incorporates medicine heavily. So, I really enjoyed it. But her teaching isn't that good. She rarely fields questions, when she did, she seemed annoyed by it. I always had to get my exams regraded as well, makes errors tabulating exam points all the time.
Nice teacher but is not very clear in lectures or explaining. A lot of times if she says you don't need to know it, you do.
Tondi is really nice, but not a good teacher. She rushes through slides and does not answer questions clearly. She's a hard grader too and the exams are difficult. If she says you don't need to know it, you do. She also confuses her classes. On e time she gave my class the wrong quiz.
She's the toughest grader I've had so far, and though she tries to make the lectures interesting, they still put me to sleep. You really have to work for your passing grade in her class. The one good thing, though, is that you really don't need the book.
I'm amazed at previous reviews. A&P is a tough class regardless of the instructor. Dr. Tondi was great and explains core concepts in multiple ways to ensure understanding and the asks if there are any questions when it's something she knows is a tough topic. This is a weed-out class, so if you aren't prepared to work for the grade, don't take it.
She's not as bad as people say she is. Just go to class and study her slides. Its that simple.
horrible professor. Would say stay away, but unfortunately she is the only one that does the lecture.
Hardest BIO class I have taken yet. Struggling currently. A lot of big picture, in depth concepts. If you cannot explain material out loud to someone else prior to test expect a D or F on test. And I mean thoroughly explain. She will help you the best she can, but its on you. If your a slow learner like me shes tough.
This class is very hard. However, if you go to lecture and take notes in the PPT with what she says and read the book you can succeed. She gives you fill in the blank notes for studying which is helpful and she gives online assignments for review. Its hard but just put the effort in
She makes a difficult class harder. She knows what she is talking about but if you care about your GPA stay away. exams are incredibly specific and she will mark you wrong if you didn't say the answer how she wanted it said. Assignments given 48 hours before they are due but usually easy. Lab should be a class on its own its even harder than class.
Only take this class if you need it for your major. It is the hardest class I have taken so far, and I am a kinesiology major. This course is basically made to get the people who cannot handle premed, out of the field. Work through it if you need it and you can always retake it if necessary. She posts the notes and lab helps a lot. Good luck.
Very Boring. All she does is read off of the slides verbatim. You will 4 major exams and eye clicker quiz and some online assignments. Study hard because the exam are tough. The eye clicker quiz and online assignments are easy. Furthermore, You really do not need the textbook because her slides is what you will really need.
Possibly the most arid 75 minutes of my week. Tondi has some knowledge about the topic she teaches but falls short of an academic. Her qualifications are laughable, though that is what I've come to expect from this university. I do fancy myself as someone who is capable of reading words off of a powerpoint, so her role is pretty limited.
Dr. Tondi is one of the best lecturers I have ever had the privilege to take. This is a tough subject and her exams ensure you know every detail. Her exams are based on the powerpoints which are helpful. The lab was difficult, but a unique experience. Failed the first exam outright, which was the easiest, but I worked harder and managed to do well.
Get ready to work harder than you've ever worked. With maximum dedication you might get a B if you are lucky. Only take it if you have to
Her power points and the book are your bible to surviving this class. Pay attention and learn how to write answers the way she wants them. The tests are very difficult but possible to get an A if you put in the hard work.
Ridiculous! I hated the class so much! I worked my butt off for this class and still got a bad grade. Lab was good but there was a practical every day. THIS IS NOT AN EASY CLASS! RUINS YOUR GPA! STAY FAR AWAY IF YOU DONT NEED IT. GET READY TO MEMORIZE THE TEXT BOOK AND HER PPT NOTES.
Knows the material and is able to communicate it to the students. You will have to invest your time into reading and thoroughly understanding the material in order to get an A in the class. It is not the easiest test, but pretty straight forward, you must read the book, that is how you will get an A. Lots of memorization, likes tiny details.
As a thorough student I found her class challenging. She mainly reads from the slides for lecture so it is crucial to read the book. The few times I interacted with her she was quite helpful however. Exams are tricky and nit-picky. Overall, an ok but tough professor.
If you do not like reading and studying on a regular basis DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I had to withdraw from the class because the tests were so hard. She doesn't just ask multiple choice questions, but you have to also write short answers that requires you to know tiny details. Other then the class beig difficult, she's great at presenting the info.
I had Tondi for two semesters. It IS possible to get an A in the class. Go to lecture in order to understand her slides better. She has 5 iclicker quizzes (the dates are listed in the syllabus) and 5 online quizzes (these are super easy) and 4 exams. The last one is always only multiple choice. She's hard, but it's not impossible.
It's DEFINITELY possible to get an A in BIOL 430431. You have to have a genuine interest in the material and spend a lot of time with it. It's a lot of hard work but well worth learning if you're going into health-related field. Go to class, pay attention, review her slides multiple times, and repeat. Tests are tough and worded tricky but doable.
Extremely long powerpoints to study off with no notes to follow with or study guide for the exams. Doesn't provide reviews for her exams, and tends to skip ahead to the next exam's material before the exam you've been studying for. Hard to get into touch with unless you're willing to wait in a long line among other students after class. TAKE OTTO!!
A lot of people find Tondi intimidating. She's a great professor and her class is not too bad as long as you actually take the time to read over the material.
Don't be deceived by her nice facade and humor, she is terrible. AVOID her class. She grades the tests unfairly and you cant argue back because only chance to see your test is in her office and she argues against anything you say. She does not return the tests so you cant question her or see how she graded other students. She grades SOME harshly.
Anyone who says anything bad about Dr. Tondi does so because they did not work hard enough and received a bad grade. Tondi knows what she's talking about, is extremely clear, and is very nice if you go talk to her (don't be intimidated). Yes exams are tough but it is possible to get A's if you are willing to put in a lot of work. Great professor!
Best Lecturer I have had in my career. The material is hard but she helps make it easy. You don't need to read ahead and I don't advise you do because she makes it much easier to understand after attending her lecture. Did NOT even own a book, just went of her slides and was more than enough. You do need to buy an access code though.
Great lecturer, does not deserve the bad rap she gets. Was always helpful when asking questions in class, and never made you feel bad for asking her to repeat/explain. This is Advanced Anatomy and Physiology. It's not easy. But, if you really put your mind to it and study your butt off, you can get an A/B.
Doctor Tondi is a great professor who gives awesome and descriptive detail when presenting her lectures. Her lectures are extremely helpful in learning the difficult and heavy load of information that comes with this course. The course is difficult, however as long as you study her powerpoint you will ace the tests.
Doctor Tondi gets a bad rap and that is only because people not willing to work or study blame her when they should blame themselves. She DOES NOT read off of the slides, and only looks at them when explaining a picture. Her lectures were AMAZING and I wish I could take her once every semester. This woman knows her stuff and is great.
She's a really good professor, and she's always good at responding to emails and explains you don't understand if you go to her office hours. Her exams correlate heavily with the power points, but she always has details, so it might get tricky. ALWAYS GO TO CLASS! Overall very good professor; I would recommend her to everyone
She is one of the best professor at college of science, I took with her both 430-431 she like to take her time explain in stuff in details to ensure that it makes sense. She cares about her students a lot but students have to know that this is 400 level classes and she expects lots of effort since it is a core course for health job professional.
She made me love anatomy and physiology .I don't know what to do without her. Biology department Must consider her great effort in teaching. She knows the material inside out and great way of explaining, I like to come early to class and sit in the front to stay focus and get a good notes. Very interesting teacher when it comes to a&p. A++++
Honestly, by far one of the best profs at GMU. She is not only a good person but amazing educator. She made me love A&P. She is enthusiastic about the material she teaches and its contagious. Really funny stories in class. Hard class but doable. This is advanced anatomy so as expected its hard, but definitely wouldn't take it with anyone else.
Worst academic experience of my career. The only people in my class who received an A had taken this class from another professor or school first. You will learn a LOT and that kept me from putting her at the lowest possible 1/5. BUT you will not get an A. Highest grade in class was an 88 and she would not curve.
By far one of the best professors EVER! Her class is amazing and she really makes sure you know the stuff. Really prepares you for any health career. Don't know what the person below is talking about. My exam grade never went below an 92. The average in the class was usually around 75-80. If you want to learn Tondi is the best choice.
Dr. Tondi is the best teacher I have ever had in college. She really knows how to break down and explain the dense material. Though she is an amazing professor, don't expect to get an A by just listening. This class takes a lot of hard work and dedication but an A is definitely not impossible.
Dr. Tondi is by far one of the best instructors at Mason. I got an A in the class (92-100 on exams) and never took an A&P class before. Amazing lecturer and makes you really love the course material. You actually do have to work for an A (its a 400 level class); but def doable. If you want to go to med school, take it with Tondi!
She knows + loves the material and has very high standards. It's a lot; if the body is interesting to you, take her! She expects you to do your part to memorize and work to keep up. But, she'll answer questions carefully and respectfully and really wants you to succeed and be prepared, she's just not willing to give grades away! Learned so much!!
I've recieved A's on every exam in Tondi's but it has been difficult. This is a very hard class but in all honesty, anyone that is going into any career of Medicine, Dentistry, Physical Therapy or anything with the body should be loving this and getting A's otherwise you should change your career path. All the questions come from the PowerPoint
Ppl dont like Tondi cuz of her tests (Hunnell has more As on gradetoday). Besides dat shes perfect. Amazing pacing, 2-the-point ppts w/ pics (Hunnell's r word walls) & better time slot. Dont get txtbook (just access code; anws 4 work online). Master the ppts cuz the test c if u know the details. Record lectures and study regularly & u'll be fine :)
She is a tough grader! No review session! Terrible
I had Dr. Tondi last year. One of the best professors evers. I really wish she taught different classes. The class is only hard if you don't work your butt off and pay attention. She is so nice and loves what she teaches. Hands down one of the best professors at Mason.
OBSSESED with Dr. T! Such an inspiring professor, learned a crazy amount from her. Great for Pre-meds or anyone in the med field. Took the MCAT and remember her voice for some questions on the MCAT! SHE PREPARES YOU . AMAZING. pay attention and study hard
Exam format is extremely difficult, there are no review sessions or hints as to what will be on the exam. A totaled 350-400 slide Powerpoint full of mostly pictures and some summary slides is your way of preparing for her conceptually-based exam questions. Her style of teaching wasn't for me and apparently many would agree.
Read the textbook before lecture
I took Dr. Tondi for the Fall and Spring semesters last year. I earned an A in both sections, and have never seen Anatomy before in my life. Don't worry! She is an excellent professor, and remembers you if you make an effort to talk to her.
Tondi is honestly one of the worst professors at Mason. Her practicals in lab are asinine and will blame students for her poor teaching and guidance in lab. Her attitude in lab was also very vexing at times when it came to passing tests and homework back out to students. As far as lecture was concerned, it seemed like her tests were just as bad.
Dr. Tondi is one of the best professors at Mason. She knows this is a 400 level class and will make you work for it! Stay on top of the homework (answers are online) and study hard. Her lectures are amazing and its clear she knows what she's talking about. My only con to this class is the organization between class and lab (overlapping assignments)
Dr Tondi is a fantastic woman. She is giving you a very small introduction to the medical world and if you want to succeed in it, you need to learn the tricks now! This is a 400 level course and you need to study a lot. Study her PowerPoints front and back, go to lecture, stay on top of work and pace yourself. Dont overlook tiny details.
Dr. Tondi's class is a nightmare. It induces anxiety. Effort doesn't matter, it's solely performance. She's not fit as an educator. 1/2 her class failed. Hunnell's class average was +20% higher. Her exams are unnecessarily difficult and long. Lectures are amazing but disappointment is inevitable. Makes u wonder if u actually even learned anything.
Dr. Tondi is one of the best professors I've had. A lot of people complain about the difficulty, but it's a 400 level class. Her exams are difficult but if you put in the effort, you can do very well. If you are actually interested in learning A&P instead of just getting an easy grade take her. Very strict with grading but she is a nice person.
This class including the lab is crazy. Every single lab you have a quiz where you have to memorize every name of every littlething (how to spell it, where it is, what it does) and it will take you at LEAST two days to study and 3-4 days for the tougher quizzes IF you want A. Give yourself at least 5 days to study for exams by reading the TEXTBOOK.
She is amazing! This is how you can get an A in her class. Print the lecture slides before class with 3 slides on a page. As she talks in class write down EVERYTHING she says about each slide. Recording lectures isn't mandatory, but if you're a slow writer I would recommend it. Study her powerpoints and ask her questions in office hr before test.
OMG take her! Legit, the class will be hard but you will hear her voice on the MCAT. You wont have to review the bio stuff if you take her because she will engrain all the info in your brain. Seriously though, anything she loves to test so does the MCAT!
Dr. Tondi is a blessing on this Earth. Honestly the most inspiring and incredible professors at GMU. She will make you work harder than you have ever before but omg she is AMAZING. I wish I could have had her for all of my classes would have made chemistry bearable for sure. Everything you need for the exam is on her slides and lectures are amazing
Professor Tondi was so awesome it is unreal how much she helped me
She was honestky such a sweetheart, and made this class more fun than it should be. I took her and hunnell and tondi is deeeeeeeeefinitely a better teacher
Lectures didn't feel organized so it was difficult to predict what the questions on the exam. There are no notifications from the professor to remind you of any due dates so be sure to refer back to the syllabus and schedule. Felt like she didn't care about students who needed help and when the whole class struggled on an exam she was unsympathetic
Dr. Tondi is absolutely one of the most dynamic, and fantastic lecturers I have ever had at Mason. In switching to a virtual platform during COVID, she made the transition seamless. That being said: this is one of the most difficult and time intensive courses I have ever taken. She's tough, but you learn more with her than anyone else.
I just started my first week of medical school, and I can say thank goodness I took this class with Dr. Tondi! She is a great teacher and her teaching is still in my head even two years later which has made medical school transition a lot easier! If you wanna get in med school and do well then take her!
TERRIBLE. WONT LET YOU REVIEW QUIZZES OR EXAMS. SO IF YOU GET SOMETHING WRONG THEN TOO BAD...
I took Hunnell and Tondi both. Tondi's class is tougher, but I'm actually scoring better because she's a fantastic lecturer. A&P is hard and memorization-heavy, but it's so interesting and she really cares about students doing well. Tondi's exams are short-answer and Hunnell's are "check all that apply," both profs do in-depth exam reviews as well
I took Bio 417 Female Reproductive Bio and Health with her Spring '22 and I regret it. It was her first time teaching this class. It is an elective, she treated it as a core class, extremely difficult. The class grade is based on 3 exams and 4 quizzes. MEMORIZE EVERYTHING! No extra credit or curve. Attend the lectures or you won't pass the class.
Dr. Tondi is so sweet, and lectures thoroughly. She explains difficult concepts well. She will always answer questions you have. However, she really likes short answer questions on exams, they aren't difficult, but you must have thorough knowledge on them and answer them well to get full credit. Take good notes as she elaborates what's on slides
Professor Tondi is one of the best professors I have ever had! Her lectures are incredibly compelling and she keeps you engaged with the material by weaving in personal anecdotes. Her tests require a lot of memorization, but if you are thoroughly familiar with the slides, you will be fine. I cannot recommend this class enough! It was amazing!
She is a very passionate and dedicated lecturer. Although the progress of the lecture was super fast and the contents of the study were tricky to study, her proper examples and quick feedback helped me study a lot.
Good lectures, however, prof can be very discouraging to students who aren't doing well, after the second exam she sent out a mass email saying many students should consider withdrawing from the course because they were currently failing the class or close to failing the class - this email was sent before she submitted grades for said exam
She does a great job explaining the material in her lectures and is very open to answering any questions if anyone is confused. Her tests are based on the content in her PowerPoints so when you're studying, use those as a study guide. It's a challenging class, but you'll pass if you put in the work and study.
There is WAY TOO MUCH material (with minuscule details to remember) to cover with insufficient time to study for exams. It is not practical at all —especially for those who are taking other science classes. Exams are incredibly long for a one-hour class, and they take up the WHOLE class period, even if you know the material!!!
She canceled class for one day due to an emergency and just dumped a bunch of lecture recordings on us. With an exam next week, she expects us to catch up on everything without any real support or guidance. It's such an inconsiderate, unprofessional and a stressful approach. Others are right, she does not care about your performance in this class.
There are no study guides to study for exams other than the TA's that make a " you must know" which is not very helpful, we are expected to review every single slide to prepare for the exam. and there are about 20 PowerPoint with an average of 5-20 slides. yes, this class is hard but there is no need to make it harder for students trying to pass.
WHY DID SHE THINK IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO ASSIGN A MUSCLE PRACTICAL EXAM RIGHT AFTER THANKSGIVING BREAK???
No study guide is provided for any exams taken. So behind on lecture and not helpful to students when it comes to exams. Only acknowledges the exams for 5 minutes in the lecture before the exam. Honestly I am disanointed how the reviews say so much amazing things but it's to the expectations. I am trying so hard I put so much work and effort.
Class is ok, but there is too many material to cover, and she rushes through each topic (especially during the last few days of class), expecting us to catch up with the little time available before the exam. She acts like this is the only class we're taking. It's also unfair to include the last lab topics as part of the LECTURE final exam.
The professor nor the TA were any help.
Just attend her lectures since that's the content that will be on the test. She also emphasizes concepts that she wants you to remember and stuff that will be on the test. Make sure to also go to the LA's review sessions and look over the slides to study for the test.
Take this class only if you're ready to meet your ancestors halfway through the exam. Her lectures slide are fine. She is good at explaining but her exams? A war crime!! Exams 2 and 4 will humble you. She said our class had a "historically low average" and told half the students to withdraw from class.
She told students to withdraw from class after first two exams. She goes so fast as if we are already supposed to know the material. She goes through 5-6 ppts per class. I stopped going after the first exam and just taught myself. Her teaching style is horrible.
If you go into the class with expectations that it will be difficult, and if you're willing to put the work in then you'll be fine. There's a lot of opportunities in lecture and lab to help bring your grade up (homework, worksheets, quizzes, etc). The lecture is very powerpoint heavy. I really enjoyed the class!
great lecturer and REALLY interesting class. I think it's vital to attend every class. yes, slides are posted but they're not detailed enough to self-teach, and she explains amazingly in person (also doesn't post recorded lectures). one think I found bothersome is that she jumps around slides a LOT and goes out of order. grade is hard-earned.
Do. Not. Cram. She will say that you can withdraw from the class, but this is a 400 level course and we know we've worked hard, so don't let that hinder your studying. Review every detail of every slide because it's all fair game (this won't be too difficult if you've been listening attentively in lecture). Study hard and believe in yourself.
She gives 4 EXTREMELY hard exams, that are basically impossible to study for since she gives a million slideshows as a “study guide” (she doesn't actually provide a study guide). Will not record her lectures, if you have to miss, then you miss around 7 ppts of material
Only take if your goal is to fail her class
Don't take this class if you want to be successful. Med school like structure of the class, the exams are hard, and the rushing and extensive material pushed on the students didn't help. Understanding the material is not enough, you need to be a doctor already to get a good grade on the exams. Save your money and time, don't take Dr. Tondi.
This might be the worst class I have taken in my whole academic career. This professor absolutely does NOT care about students passing this course. She is a horrible lecturer, just reads off the slides and expects you to know about 150-200 slides by the time of the exam. If you would like to succeed, do not take this professor!!
The class itself if heavy but if you put in the effort you will do great, exams come directly from the slides and are straightforward if you put enough time into learning and memorizing the material it will make it much easier for you.
Extremely harsh grader. Do not take her if you want to pass this class.
This is a hard class, but it is definitely possible to succeed. Dr. Tondi's exams are based completely off of her slideshow presentations, so focus on every single detail on these slides when studying, and you will be prepared. Do not cram!!! There is too much information on each exam; give yourself time to thoroughly study all the material.
