If you're looking for an easy A, well, you're not gonna get it in this class. Yes, he is very critical of your writing abilities. But let's face facts, if he told you your paper was great and it sucked, he wouldn't be doing you any favors. Always willing to pre-read essays and papers during office hours. A must take for English majors!!!

The class is pretty fun. Issacs is always cracking jokes (some are not as funny as he makes them seem). He's a MLA junkie so if you take is class, come prepared. There's a quiz and an essay due every week. He grades the essays real hard. And the discussions almost never have to do with what we read for the week.

Isaacs was one of the coolest professors I've taken at El camino! He's super hilarious and straight up about everything. There's a 2-page essay due every wk and a small quiz as well. Yes, it's a tough course, but it's definitely worth taking! He focuses mostly on the thesis. The class is pretty long, but Isaacs makes it enjoyable.Oh ya, he's hot!!

Well let me start off by saying if you are easily offended he will offend you, he might offend you even if you aren't easy to offend. Luckily, I am impossible to offend and found him hillarious. Aside from his joking and rambling it is really a tough class, I pulled a B even though it easily could have been an A if I had done more of the reading.

If you can sit through 3 hours of nonstop rambling, then this is the class for you. Quizzes focus on hard to remember details, but essays are fairly easy as long as you have a good thesis. Professor Isaacs is kind of funny and he's a nice guy but he really got on my nerves sometimes.

Prof. Isaacs is, hands down, the finest English teacher I've ever taken. He's brilliant and his lectures may be long, but he will teach you why we study literature. Little tolerance for boring, standard freshman comp writing. Be creative. Read closely. By rights, he should be at a prestigious 4-yr University, so count yourself lucky and show up.

He is a great professor! He is really funny and he helps you grow a lot as a writer. However, there is an essay and a quiz every weeK. I know many people in that class that had difficulty passing (the quizzes are curved but he is a harsh essay grader). His lectures are long and there is no discussion. Make sure you don't skip any essays!!!

Also, best part is if you finish your quiz early, you may leave the class. :)

While vulgar and funny, Isaacs may be the most knowledgeable professor I've had. He's read and contemplated over boatloads of literature. You'll improve your critical thinking, English, and history knowledge in his World Literature classes. Each week, you'll spend several hours reading and writing a short, persuasive essay on what you've read.

Prof. Isaacs is rad. Super smart, well read, funny, & so far from boring - you'll look forward to class. As an Engl. major, some lit. classes are dry b/c required reading list blows. Not Isaacs'. He finds ways to relate the lit. to real world events (old/new) that make it interesting. I learned a lot + he's a good looking mf. So hot. Thx Isaacs!

Engl 1A contains A LOT of multiple choice quizzes on reading and grammar, anywhere from 2-3 quizzes per week. You could excel in the essays getting A's and B's and still struggle to pull off an A because the quizzes are so heavy on your grade. The required readings are boring and dreadful and the quizzes ask very specific detail oriented questions.

Professor Isaacs provided essay feedback early on but ran out of time later. No discussions. Syllabus commentary says that weekly essays are 500 words maximum, but you can actually go over without penalty. Improved my writing! Quiz questions can be specific, so read carefully. Final "exam" is a 500-800 word essay, submitted like all other essays.
