Really good teacher.
Brent is amazing; he's very approachable when you have questions, if you have questions. He teaches in a very clear and concise manner. It's also great he has a sense of humor.
By far the best math professor I've had at ASU!! He is absolutely hilarious and i didn't miss a single class. If you don't understand a concept, make sure you go to his office hours. He will spend as much time as you need to help make things clear.
*SUMMER CLASS* Overall, he is a good teacher. If math isnt your best subject, take with another professor. He is very approachable when help is needed. His tests are not that easy. It is all application and 0 multiple choice. He grades kind of harsh. He does NOT use the testing center which turns a 6 week course into 5 weeks. Homework is webwork.
Good teacher. Easy. Always go to class/office hours if you do not understand a concept
Took this Cacl II class during the summer. Extremely fast paced, but manageable. Obviously you are going to need to sacrifice free time in order to do well. Brent is extremely helpful and will explain the same thing multiple times in different ways. Extra credit questions w/ every test. Lots of HW on webwork but he will extend due dates sometimes.
Took this class for summer session, I have no idea what other students are talking about. He is a horrible professor I aced all of the homework and extension problems, but his test have nothing to do with classwork/homework! He takes forever to return written homework assignments, and provides little to no feed back! Stay away!!!
This teacher is absolutely horrible. He just does problems on the board without going in depth on how to solve the problem. By the end of the day you are going to see chicken scratch on the board and have a completely lost mind. His tests are nothing like the homework!!1 DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!
Great teacher. Very clear. Can get an A if committed. Webwork due dates are often extended.
He is the best calculus teacher I have ever had in ASU. He cares about his students, and extend the deadline if he feels that the HW is difficult and long. I can understand everything he say in spite of being an international student. If he teaches MAT267 next semester, I will absolutely take it with him ! (y)
His method of teaching is impressive. The tests are fair, but he is a little strict at grading. Take him if you want learn calculus.
Idk why people think he is such an amazing teacher.. He seriously does 2 problems PER CLASS and then gives us a good 29 for homework. Don't get me wrong, if you ask for help, he will help you! But it's kind of irritating how I need to ask for help all the time because of his teaching skills.
He spends hours going in depth on one freaking problem and once you walk out of his classroom you'll be left with nothing, but 29 web work problems. He doesn't care whether you retain the material. Smart guy, but not a good teacher at all.
He's Chill.
I started at MAT170 bc I haven't taken a math class for a year and he is an amazing teacher!! If you PAY ATTENTION, do your homework, and study you should get a decent grade. He is strict on talking in class and completing webwork but I can tell it's just because he wants us to be prepared and understand the class. Very sarcastic and funny!!
He thought he was doing us a favor, by giving us a study guide for his test after so many people failed the first one?? His test are horrible, there's 25 problems and their multiple choice, but with roman numerals so you have 10 options and its select all that apply. You miss 3 problem and your screwed.
I really like this teacher. I said it. His problem is that he seems to have no support. The web site he has us use is faulty. If it is even letting you in. The book is not matched well with the web site. The book and the site don't match what he is trying to teach. I would say that given my choice I would just do in class work and skip the rest.
In MAT170 he was HORRIBLE. I went to class EVERYDAY, did all the webwork, studied, and still didn't get a good grade in that class. His lectures were simple while the homework was HARD. The tests HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE WEBWORK. He only gives 3 tests including the final and by the 2nd one, half the classed dropped because they couldn't pass.
this is a good teacher, he teaches good and he is a really good person
Please for the love of God if you are not a master at math do not take his course. I'm taking this to get FRESHMAN MATH out of the way because I couldn't do it my first year. Worst mistake. His grading policy is the worst I've ever experienced. Simply doing your best isn't enough. This work load and grading is too overbearing.
Confuses rather than helps. Most tutors give up helping me on problems he assigns. waits until 20 minutes before assignment is due before responding to students who ask for help. Gives a work load as if it's your only class and you have no life. So stressful students physical and emotional health suffers
He is bad. He can't teach. He WANTS you to fail. He is unrealistic expectations for his students. I am confusing in online homework and quizzes. Tests to his a learning experiences and not stuff you already know. I'm warning you. Don't take him. He will make your life hell.
Prof Knutson is one of the best math proffessors I have had at this school. He is very clear on the lectures and breaks everything down where it is easy to understand. He made Calc 2 more clear to me than Calc 1, and because of this I have a greater appreciation for math. It is unfortunate that there aren't more math professors like him.
Knutson was the absolute worst "teacher" I have ever had. Not only was he rude and call you stupid for asking a question, he would take a whole hour and 15 minute lecture working on one question and then give you homework with 40+ questions. You think you know basic pre-calc until you get there and he confuses everything for you.
He sets you up to fail. The homework use from website. Blackboard homework was confused. His lecture is unclear, yet he holds you to it and takes unreasonable points off. I understood the concepts, yet I failed math due to his outrageous grading on the exams and because I had other commitments. Don't take from him!
By far the best professor I've had at ASU. The guy took me from failing during the spring to getting an A- the following semester. Not only does he teach the procedures but also the concepts behind the procedures, which makes it so much easier to understand. 1010.
Knutson's lectures for this class were great! He is very clear and goes over many example problems in class that help with homework and tests. Take advantage of his office hours... Especially to go over problems you got wrong on an exam.
I hated this class. It was too easy and I was often bored in class. He repeats himself all the time. He tries to be tough but I don't think it works. There was a ridiculous amount of homework but it was so easy. I probably could've finished this class in a week if it was just me. If you want an extremely easy and boring A, this is the class for you
Brent does not mess around during lectures. He's there to teach and he does a great job of it. He writes out specific notes on the board and goes through examples with the class. He is thorough with explanation of problems and helpful when asked to explain a step. Only downside is the online homework can be long. Used book for hw like 3 times total
Never had taken calc before. He took something that was scary and completely explained it very clear!! He really cares about helping. He will tell you tips on how to study and what to study and how to take notes on his lecture. Pay attention and do the study tips he says! I got a 93 and im not that good at math!
Really good teacher! Very helpful and answers questions very thoroughly. Very attractive too! :)
He's a good professor, he teaches well. But it is by far the most rigorous math class ive taken and it's freaking annoying how much homework there is. 3 assignments a week, each one worth 150 points. You will be expected to over an hour and a half doing homework every day. It's awful.
Do not expect this class to be easy because you took pre calc in high school, it is the the complete opposite! Although he is a good teacher he spends way too much time teaching you the concept instead of how to do it, so you end up doing bad on the exam. A LOT OF HOMEWORK, 3 exams including the final, he doesn't know what will be on the exam
He's rad
Was not excited to take this class as math is not my strongest subject, Professor Knutson wants his students to succeed and he really grew on me throughout the year. Don't expect to do good without working hard, If you do the homework, go to the tutoring center, and ask questions, you WILL get a good grade. Your grade really just depends on you.
Do the webwork. It saved my grade. Study Random clicker quizzes; go to class.
DROP. Brent was possibly the worst teacher I've ever had. Math is definitely not one of my strong points, and Brent in no way helped. If you are great at math and it comes easy for you, expect to be able to push through. If not, I wouldn't recommend him. Also there is an extraneous amount of online homework that he is never clear on when is due!
Not recommend this teacher.
I'm not supper good at math but I put a lot effects on my study Therefore, I can always get a A in math He as no passion in class at all And he gives clicker quiz every day before class starts. The quiz might related with last class or last semester!! He only gives a minute or two to answer each question.
He's the worst teacher ever. His lectures are confusing and hard. His grading is way too tough. He won't answer anything non-math related. Most of the people had bad grades. For his Test 3, most of the people did terrible because not everything was taught. He doesn't teach everything you need to know for the tests.
It's just a hard class. Do the WEBWORK, that is what helped me pass the class. If you don't miss any webwork problems he gives you extra credit at the end of the semester. Knutson explains everything as thoroughly as he can. His office hours are extremely helpful because he will do practice problems with you.
If you do your work, show up to class, and go to his office hours you will be fine!
He goes more into the definitions of the words like: variable, function, function definition, rule, etc. He tries to teach you what it means instead of just how to do it. I think he is an amazing teacher because he teaches you unlike some teachers teach you to pass.
Knutson is as nice professor, and always he will work with you to get a handle on the topic. The subjects he teacher are out of the realms of his knowledge, so it will be a rough ride for people wanting to learn. If you don't know the subject being taught, you will not have a fun experience. Horrible.
At first he seems pretty boring and not into it, but you get used to his style after a while. What he writes on the board is crystal clear, and if you study it, you will get A's on the tests. There are clicker quizzes everyday, but as long as you don't miss a bunch of them, its a free A for part of your grade. Would no doubt take again.
The worst teacher ever. he might have the knowledge but the worst in grading and the teaching style. He is unnecessarily sets up problems which are difficult to start on. The reason for this is a mystery, but be prepared to solve problems that look different than ones you saw in your book. Don't take him if you can avoid it.
Overall Knutson is one of the best professors I have had. At first his class seems like it will be a drag but after a week or so its clear that he knows the subject very well, and can teach it very well. He's always willing to give extra help, and his dry sense of humor makes going to the class worth it. If you work hard you will succeed with him
His class was very unorganized, the instructor is VERY boring and vague a lot but the material is extremely too much. It's just busy work. You're better off taking this class with another professor. Don't take math class with this professor because coming to this class was a waste.
Brent is not a bad guy, but this class was a waste of time. He was always very unprepared, disorganized, and occasionally rude to students. I good at math but this professor doesn't really teach well when he doesn't tells not much of details. I only came because need more math for engineer. Class was super monotone, just a waste of time.
He's very confusing and when he writes on the board it's hard to follow along. Take else for a math class his test are way too tough.
He don't know how to teach student and his lecture is boring, The only thing he had is from a good collage and not a teacher at all.
Professor couldn't care less about you as a student. His lectures are painfully boring and you don't get much out of them. Avoid this professor if you can.
Clicker quizzes.
Knutson is probably one of the most unsure instructors I have ever met. He rambles on about topics that he doesn't seem to know much about and is constantly losing his train of thought. He doesn't give study guides or homework so you never know what to study. Also, his exams were confused and hard. Horrible.
Brent is a great. He explains concepts & how they work. He spends a chunk of time on each problem in class & explains each step in detail. I liked that he didn't rush through problems because I'm a slow notetaker. I know someone who had a different prof for 170 & they had the same homework- I think hw & tests are standardized for all math classes
peace of cake
His class is extremely difficult and geared to make you fail. His teaching method is unhelpful, and he made students confused.
Avoid him. Harsh grader. You will not pass.
I had him for MAT 266. Horrible. He is very impatient and intimidating. I didn't feel comfortable asking questions and doesn't teach well for math.
Do not recommend this instructor if you have no Calc 2 experience. You end up mainly teaching yourself and using the book. He is a "teller" not teacher. No clear communication of current grade or class curves. No tests are dropped and no quizzes. Nice guy though.
This guys is a fairly hard grade, but if you go to class and take notes class will not be too difficult. He does curve if the class does not do well and he is in general quite nice (he only looks intimidating talk to him a bit and you'll see he is quite nice)
I took this course because it was in my degree, he is hands down the worst professor I have ever had at ASU. I spent hours doing his homework and quizzes, that make no sense. When I asking him for help all he doesn't help well. Also, he doesn't teach well in class for math. Never take him again. So disorganized and useless talk.
I'd heard of positive things about Knutson. The problem was that he goes through explaining material at light speed, he refuses to explain simple steps for those struggling and does not give good feedback to the students. Tests were tricky, as well as the online homework. Horrible.
i would NEVER recommend this teacher. He was extremely unorganized, not helpful, and really annoying. He had no idea how to teach and shouldn't be allowed to teach at all. I went help at math tutoring center still not helpful. Awful teacher.
His lectures are crap. I had him my first semester of my freshman year. For the Test 3, the test score average was somewhere near 33% and he didn't curve the test. The tests are hard if you fall asleep. He does a horrible and terrible job of teaching.
Frustrating. Avoid. Worst math class & overall professor in my career. He is unorganized, lazy, the online homework was confused & it's time consuming. His class provided no educational value & he doesn't teach well. Also, Punctual grading work and test was confused however.
I found Brent to be a very good instructor for Linear Algebra. He is clear and concise in his lectures, and he makes it clear what to expect on quizzes and tests. Read the book, do the Webwork, pay attention in class, and you'll be fine. I certainly didn't think he was nearly as bad as the other ratings make him seem, but this was my experience.
I'm a big fan of this site, so I don't like seeing it's credibility suffer because it's misused. I noticed Knutson had complaints mostly from his MAT266 class. I scoped out some stuff. Knutson hasn't taught that class since spring 2015. Knutson's a solid prof. & helpful. Don't let one obsessed reviewer with a weird vendetta convince you otherwise.
he's fine.
He does not teach any of the lessons. He writes examples on the board and just expects you to know how to do anything. If you ask a question, he seems like he is just annoyed by it. He also treats you as if you are dumb when you don't understand something. The tests are way too hard and long for the time allowed. Do not take a class from him.
He is a great teacher. Very clear about what he expects for homework, quizzes,a and tests. Attendance is crucial, but his lectures are very helpful so it was always worth it to be in class. Every class is a lecture, but for anything he teacher he models example problems. He and other students are very accessible to collaborate with.
He never had concrete due dates and constantly contradicted himself. He wants you to ask questions but if you do he won't answer you. If you are taking this class be sure you have a solid tutor outside of the class because the pathways curriculum is very challenging.
Never had any set due dates and would always switch them around making it all the more confusing. I will say that it's good that he allows extensions on homework considering that there's 3 assignments due each week. The exams aren't hard, just do the reviews and you'll be fine. Definitely need to go in for tutoring a lot.
Tough course, but Knutson is great at explaining the mathematical concepts as well as the theory behind it. Assigns homework regularly but usually it isn't too heavy. Focuses a lot on correct notation. Lectures are usually very interesting if you can understand the concepts but sometimes he is very heavy on examples. Overall, great professor.
Had him for business math 211, his lectures were great, straight to the point, example heavy, and organized. All of our hw was assigned on webassign, with clear due dates and fair grading. He was always respectful, enthusiastic, and open to answering questions after class. Do the hw, go to class every day, skim the textbook, and it's an easy A.
I always got the impression that this guy had no interest in being here. He goes through lectures quickly and begrudgingly and would rather not deal with students asking for assistance. He is an extremely lazy grader, grading only tests and the odd quiz for the most part, resulting failure notices being sent out when you're capable of passing.
If you are taking Brent for this course you need to find yourself a tutor. He would always alter due dates. If you do the homework and understand it you will pass easily. He gives small quizzes at the beginning of every class.
I thought it would be a hard class to pass but at the end he makes so many of our previous work extra credit and adds points to assignments. It's great! However he's unclear with due dates.
Knutson seems gruff at first but underneath, he cares a ton, both about students and math. 267: tough class but if you actually pay attention during lecture, he walks through every concept very clearly and thoroughly. Don't expect to skip class or skate by but if you're mature enough to handle a real college math class I can't recommend him enough.
Knutson is beyond frustrating, his lectures are nearly useless in relation to the homework and tests and his online homework was confused. Instead of walking through examples he didn't show enough solve math equations step-by-steps. Avoid at all costs.
He's dry, almost boring if you're not into math. But he knows his stuff. Definitely no cheerleader but wants everyone to get the material and do well. He goes through a lot of examples in class. Sometimes he was works through them too slow, other times he speeds through them, but he'll stop and explain things every time you ask in multiple ways.
Knutson's class was one of the hardest math classes that I have ever taken. He is extremely knowledgeable, but also condescending and not very willing to answer questions during class. The webwork was also at times way too hard, only able to do okay because of the book (MUST READ IT ALONG WITH LECTURES). Overall extremely hard class.
If you like math, you'll really like Brent. He's very smart. He sets up an extra test review meeting (optional) the day before the exam--the only prof I've ever had who's done this. You can do all the "normal" things to get a good grade ( HW, go to office hours, etc), but I highly suggest taking Prof. Knutson if you actually like math.
For starters, he used the chalkboard and I felt like it took up so much time and he was writing and talking at the same time.. He also stated how any examples or homework won't be on the exam, which I thought was strange? He would give problems that I had never seen or knew how to work out. Also did not feel comfortable asking questions.
He understands exactly what he teaches and is great at teaching. However, after class ends, he is one of the most unresponsive and lazy teachers I've ever had. Also, at the end of the semester, he doesn't care to read any of your concerns or reply to them.
Brent's lectures were very clear and informative, and provided students with a valuable set of notes. He goes in depth and explains the theory, not just what you need to know for the test. Almost every day there was a quiz on what we had learned in the last lecture. If you love math and want to go above and beyond, take this class!
Brent is an absolutely amazing professor. He made this extremely difficult class possible for me. He really wants everyone to get the material and succeed. Gave multiple opportunities for extra credit and tests and quizzes were very fair. Would definitely recommend him!!!
He had a good sense of humor which made it more bearable. He was my best calculus teacher by far. It seemed like he genuinely cared about his students.
Teacher was not responsive and failed to grade things in a timely manor. Videos were next to useless and the examples were totally different then the homework. Homework load was large and tests were tough and graded harshly. Expect to spend most of your time teaching yourself using youtube and khan. Avoid this teacher!
Tough class but he def. responded fast. Sometimes thought all he did was sit at his desk answering questions on class website where we were told to post questions. But he was slow to answer personal emails sometimes. also always know you'll have to teach yourself more with all online classes- that's the appeal. Don't take it if you can't handle it.
Great professor. He seems really chill (probably is as a person), but you'll be surprised when you get your test back. Be diligent with your tests and you should get a good grade. Great Lectures.
I usually like Math, but this online class with Prof Knutson was frustrating. The videos were too long, extremely dry and had little relation to actual homework. He kept promising extra videos that were never delivered and did not seem genuinely committed to this course in general. Retroactively, I'd probably choose a different instructor.
Prof. Knutson is great at explaining in a very detailed manner. If you like to move fast, not the class for you, but the class was paced nicely and have enough review/ reminder knowledge to help with new concepts. Lots of attempts on online hw, and test material is well defined.
Professor Knutson is very knowledgeable on the subject. Attendance is not required but you wont pass if you dont go. He makes his homework way harder than the exams. Explains topics thoroughly and efficently. One of my favorite professors at ASU. He really shows that he cares about his students passing. You do not need the textbook.
His lectures are amazing, he gave examples and did all the steps for the students to understand and follow. Sometimes there is pop quiz for attendance, but sometime those quizzes became extra credits. His test are pretty much the homework, so just study the homework, notes, and review package.
I think that Brent was very straightforward about the material he taught. There was nothing sneaky that he didn't go over and his grading was fair. He definitely grew on me as the course went on. He was also funny and I think his examples helped. He had good review sessions and office hours. Honestly, if you didn't pass this class, it's due to you.
He seems strict at first, but he is pretty chill. Attend every lecture; his notes are not available online and he does pop quizzes and attendance quizzes. Be on time. Exam questions are exactly like homework questions. Do the homework. The class is tough, and Brent uses a lot of words in his lectures. Go to his review sessions, they help a lot
He was good at explaining the material. Like many math teachers he would get stuck on definitions and technical stuff sometimes. Calculus II is a hard subject for many, so be sure you are doing the homework and understanding the concepts and how to do the problems. He seemed pretty strict in the beginning, but he is a pretty nice guy.
Very organized in his lectures which make them easy to follow and understand. He does lots of in class examples so it makes it easy to understand the material. Make sure you go to class, attendance is mandatory and he'll occasionally check to see who's there.
Overall, Knutson is all right. His lectures are monotonous and are just loads of information about each section in the book. Sometimes, he does crack a few jokes just to "keep us awake." Even though he doesn't take attendance, you have to show up to class to pass, and the tests are rather hard if you don't show up.
He is very nice. Be on time, there are some pop quizzes for attendance. The tests are pretty easy. Textbook is not required but needed for test preview. Do the homework, it helps a lot because it will be in the test.
He is a very good teacher! he truly cares about his students and tries to help you as much as he can. His tests are fairly easy and homework is average.
Definitely the best instructor I've had. The course is extremely difficult but he does everything he can to help you pass, including extending deadlines and answering questions on weekends and at all hours of the night.
This classes was the hardest I've taken in 3 years of college - particularly because of the 8 week online format. I should have ONLY taken this class. Tons of homework. I spent upwards of 40 hours per week on material. I will say Brent is awesome though. He cares and is very responsive. He also extended deadlines on a few occasions to help out.
Never lectures, in class you watch videos and work on homework. He does not like to help and makes you feel stupid when you ask questions. His TA's helped more.
This professor really likes his proofs and definitions. You must understand the material thoroughly, memorizing how to do specific problems will not get you through his tests. His teaching is very thorough and he's available for help. He won't be for everyone, very dry and its all just whiteboard note taking.
No lectures he just walks around helping students and is very clear when describing things. Gives great help in class and over email. Very laid back easy professor and class.
Stay away from this Teacher! I got E because his exam is tough.
Don't take this class at all he's a horrible teacher and has a boring monotone voice. He takes forever to grade exams. He says he'll give extra credit but never does. Stay away from him.
Definitely knows his stuff. If you go to class hes pretty good at explaining thourougly and his test questions are basically the exact same as the ones he works through in class. Hes not so much a people person, but hes actually a really good teacher and curves tests.
Mr. Knutson explained everything in depth and I felt important in his class. He knows his stuff, and will work with you if you show effort.
I loved this class to my surprise. He always tries to make sure his students know the content as much as he can, and provides lots of ways for his students to learn the content. The lectures were slightly shorter than usual because it is two credits but they still felt like the flew by. He also made me really interested in the content.
Terrible teacher. Not much do any examples and then gives you a quiz to complete in few min. Also, he doesn't teach well like doesn't tell about concepts of integration parts. Do not take any classes with this teacher!!
Honestly, great professor and knows how to explain the material. I took his MAT 243 class, and its just overwhelming because its not something you should expect to learn easily. I underestimated the class and fell a little behind which is why I had to withdraw from it. MAT 243 is a hard class no matter who your professor is.
Here's the deal, this class covers alot of content in a very short period of time. If you have a hard time with math, expect 20+ hrs a week of work if you want a good grade. MML will become your friend. Piazza was a great way to address concerns. Brent served as a good facilitator. Just know that you have to teach yourself in an online classroom
Doesn't tech well. He doesn't really tell more details for step by steps of the integration part.
I hate math but this was a great class. Take a cumulative knowledge check test at the beginning of the course and all of the subjects that you pass on the test you automatically get 100% for the corresponding homework assignments so you only focus on learning what you missed. Large class curve and always around to answer questions.
Really tough grader, unclear on integration part. He's like to humiliate you and doesn't teach well in math class.
He often looks annoyed, but hes actually not and hes really nice one-on-one. Hes extremely smart and can explain things in multiple ways, but youll need to ask him to explain material in a different way if its not making sense. I recommend him if you want a smart teacher that will help you, but only if you ask for it. Plus hes funny.
Brent doesn't come off as much of a people person and can be intimidating at first, but he's actually a really nice guy and has a great dry sense of humor. Definitely go to class because you'll fall behind otherwise and he does attendance quizzes that count. WebWork is pretty nasty but test problems are easier than the homework.
Clicker quizzes so don't skip class; tests are graded tough and 243 is steps and proof-intensive. Explains everything clearly, you can see he wants the class to actually learn and not just work for good grades. He curved our class in the end. Does take a long time to return corrected exams.
Brent was a really chill person. He expects you to have a good foundation of your previous coursework, especially if his class builds on it. He does give a lot of webwork, but increases its weightage as well. His lectures are pretty good because he makes everything intuitive. He also pulls out an occasional joke!
Way too many assignments! The exam was tough and confused and webwork was confused too.
Professor Knutson has difficulty explaining things in a concise way the first time and usually has to repeat himself multiple times. If you put a lot of effort into studying for the test, and no effort into the homework, as the answers are not provided, you will do well in the class. Easy 100 on the final.
I had a lot of problems with his 7 week class. First of all, he is slow to respond to any communications. The syllabus is unclear, and the course material hasn't been updated for a couple years. Not all of the lecture videos work, and the link he has takes you to an error message. He doesn't give extra credit, except unlimited tries on hw
This professor MAT 211 class is so difficult, I have got A+ in MAT 210, but this time because the professor often gave very strange questions in the exam, I didn't get a good grade in just one exam, and I calculated my score I can ONLY get B. I don't like the professor I can say this point very clearly. Don't recommend his class!! I wanna withdraw.
Knutson is a good teacher and helps you when needed. He teaches concepts with few examples which isn't my learning style so if that's for you then take him. I wish I went to his office hours more because he is very helpful and walks you through the problem. The class is hard no matter who you have. You have to go to class or you won't pass for sure
I do NOT recommend Brent. I have my final in two days and I have no clue where my grade stands. He doesnt put anything into the grade book, hasnt even mentioned what will be on the final. He is a tough grader. Brent is nice one on one, but asking questions in class is intimidating.
DO NOT TAKE HIS MAT 211 CLASS. Lectures are very confusing. There is a quiz for a grade every class period at the beginning. The first third of the course is alright then it just goes straight downhill from there. Hardest course I've ever taken. 20+ hours of studying/homework per week. Super hard grader. Nice guy one on one though.
Gives clicker quizzes everyday. lectures are confusing, is monotone but in the end gives a lot of extra points for quizzes, tests, and homework. If you do the homework youll do ok
There are quizzes for attendance at the very beginning of EVERY class. He is probably allergic to all electronics so no one is allowed to use them. Very bad lecturer- so you need to self-study at all times. 3 exams take up 75% of the final grade and there is no lowest dropped. He gave a generous curve in the end though.
Super in detail lectures, writes everything you need to know on the white board. Be preapred to pay attention in detail in class. Gives a bunch of extra credit at the end of the year and has "quizzes" every day. Super understanding guy and will explain in detail if you go to him for help. Cares about your success in life as well as in the class.
He used clickers to take attendance. This class was very difficult and before the curve I was at an C. He is a good lecturer, but gets too theoretical/deep into the material sometimes. This can be misleading as the exam questions did not reflect that and reflected a more practical version of the material. (taken in Fall 2018).
Best professor ever. Do exactly as you are told and you pass. Guaranteed.
