brent has fun classes always
Interesting lecture and class discussions. Laing acts out what he is teaching. You can get an A on play assignments by reading spark notes. Tests come directly from notes taken in class.
always a really fun class to go to, really easy tests

He acts like he doesnt care about attendance in the beginning of the semester and then he freaks out when too many people miss or a lot of people are late. And his tests are harder than they should be.
really nice, interesting, funny. easy tests. even though the class is pretty easy you can still learn a lot
The coolest guy youll ever meet. So normal and fun. He really makes an effort to get to know his students, whitch can be a rairity in Chucktown. Talk to him after class and youll know what i mean.
Really nice guy, kinda weird on attendence. Come to class and you will do great. Have to act for your final, but its easy.
Laing is a funny guy. He acts things out in class which helps you remember for tests. Tests are easy... sparknotes will get you an A on the quizzes over plays you are supposed to read. BY ALL MEANS-GO SEE THE ASSIGNED PLAYS! If you do, the class is easy!!
really fun, take notes and you'll do fine, very dramatic and funny
EASY! Just go to class, he's a funny guy anyway. Don't be fooled on the first day because he definitely tries to intimidate you. You have to act for your final grade but it's really easy.

Very nice guy. NO study guides for tests--must go to class to do well on them. Tries to trick you sometimes on tests but is usually pretty bad at it. Have to see 3 plays and read 3 plays.
I absolutely hate this class, it's such a blow-off class and he treats it like rocket-science. Also, he makes the girls feel unconfortable (ever wonder why they're always the volunteers?)
His lectures cover test materials. Must see a few plays and write a paper or take a quiz on them. Very entertaining and amusing, likes to entertain the class while teaching.
careful.. tells you attendence is not important and then hates you when you don't go.
Prof. Laing is so hilarious! He's very amusing, but can be a bit of a trickster with tests and quizzes. He's really into the arts and knows a lot on the subject. Take him and you'll learn something, be entertained, and make a good grade!

What can i Say Brent is the man! he s like a friend, if you treat him right he ll treat you right, do your part , make sure you go to class , and the rest should be fun, b+ or A for sure, take this class! cool and you learn alot
I was so nervous before taking this class, but I'm glad he was the professor b/c he is a great teacher and funny guy. I recommend him for Public Speaking, but I don't know how he is with Intro to Theatre...
noce guy and a good teacher. you have to do a performance for the last grade but he is so lenient with it. interesting class and you read some good plays. he's cool guys, you'll like him.

If I were to to back to college for a 3rd degree I would declare as a theatre major just to take more of his classes. I had the best time in his classes. Hint: Go to the plays, the whole thing. His quizes cover much of the 2nd half. Thanks Brent!
He is the nicest professor you will ever have. He is so funny and loves to make jokes during class. His class is so easy if you go see the plays and read you will make an A.
Funny guy, boring class.EASY A if you go to plays, go to class, and read the text. I studied probably a combined total of like 5 hrs all together for the enitre semester.not hard class at all.pay attention, dont miss more than a few classes and read the plays and assigned text.very easy grade booster
Great professor! Very humerous. Have to see three plays and either write a paper or take a quiz on them. Have to read some plays and have quizzes on those. Final scene project at the end of the semester. Very easy to get a B+ from...make sure you read in order to get an A.
This guy is a great professor. I actually like attending his classes, I even signed up for him with Public Speaking. Very straight forward, funny as hell and likable. You won't hate his classes...if you do, you're the F-ing devil.
Brent was awesome..easy A.. we took 3 tests, attended 3 plays..you probably should read the text in order to do well on tests but it's possible to get an A without reading everything. Make sure to read the plays he assigns! Listen in class..take good notes and you'll be fine! Funny and very likeable
i LOVED brent's class! he is very animated and teaches hands on. you have to go to a couple plays, but their usually funny and he is in some of them. be active in class and he'll really like you - he likes the smart asses. he is funny and really good at what he does.
Great teacher, very funny, fair with grading and tests. As long as you do the final project, go to the plays and write the papers, and study just a little for tests...its not a bad class at all. I learned alot, he was interesting and had many funny stories!
HOT!!! HOT!!!HOT!!!
AWESOME! He's so funny and the class is a breeze. #1 choice for humantiees req.
Bad ass teacher. I liked his class a lot even though i didn't like theatre goign into it. You have to see two plays and write what you thought about them. Awesome guy, keeps class very interesting.

Take brents class. You don't have to come to class. Easy quizzes and tests. He loves his Diet Coke and you will enjoy his class.
Brett is the man! He's funny and it's the only class I don't fall asleep in. If you go to class and take notes, read the plays, and go to the plays it's an easy "A"
okay so he sucks! class is easy! no attendance policy! just go or don't show up on quizz and test days make sure you know your stuff you'll be good! he's funny even though he sucks he's got very entertaing stories!
anyone who doesn't like brent is a clown, he's a badass teacher. bird class if you play your cards right.
fantastic teacher. amusing, helpful, witty.

Intro to Theatre. Great teacher. Hilarious... His tests were easy and he's a fair grader. Final exam of a skit was fun. Took him on a recommendation from a friend and really enjoyed his class.
I thought Professor Laing was incredible. He really likes teaching the class and you can definitely tell.
He is so funny and cool. They are lucky he's there. He is a true teacher. If you go enjoy it, if you don't you'll fail.
He's the best! His class is really easy, and he has no attendance policy! Quizzes are always announced, there's never any homework, besides when you have to go see a play and then write a response to it. He's really funny, too...take this class!
He's very easy and funny teacher but kinda rude if you talk to him face to face! just sparknote the plays, come to class and go to a few productions and you have an A for sure. easy and fun.
He's truly enjoys teaching and has a wonderful personality as well. He truly cares for his students and their welfare and if you care enough to show some effort by participating in class discussion then you'll be fine gradewise. Read the chapters, it has all of the info you need for the lectures.
Funny teacher, knows what he is talking about. not a hard class just read the plays, talk in class, study before tests and you should be fine. Doesnt expect too much and has a good time teaching! Its fun to watch and listen to his lectures! Def. take him for intro!
He's a ****. Pretty easy class though. Tests and quizzes come from lecture notes. Don't worry about reading any of the texts. Just study notes and read cliff notes of plays. I'd recommend him if you are looking for an easy class and are afraid to speak your mind. He doesn't allow for personal opinions. He's a little weird too.
Read the textbook, read the required plays, go to the performances, and this class is in the bag. Brent can be a little gruff, but if you look like you're paying attention he'll be very sweet to you. If you're a particularly good student, he seems to take that into account if you have a late paper or something.
Brent is a good teacher and he has a good sense of humor. He does really funny impressions. Not much on excuses for not doing your work, so just do it--it's not hard to do well. Very friendly and just a generally nice guy. He doesn't take attendance but he'll remember if you don't come. It's a fun class, so you won't want to skip anyway.
Brent's a good guy. Class is easy but you have to read some plays and go see some performances as well but it's all simple. Short essays and tests come straight from lecture. Really funny guy as well. If you're looking for a pretty easy class, this is a good one with a good teacher. Not the most interesting class, but I reccomend it.
He is the greatest thing since sliced bread! I love the class, the plays we read are interesting, if you're into class discussion and know what you're talking about --take this class!!
He is really funny and encourages you to be yourself! The class was so much fun even though we had to write papers and everything. It was my favorite class ever and I really did look forward to going. I actually really miss it! TAKE THIS CLASS YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!
Hooray Brent! He's a great guy, and I would recommend him to anyone. He keeps things interesting, and he knows what he's talking about. I'm taking him for another class right now, and it's one of my favorites of the semester
Brent is the man. This class was so much fun, and I learned so much from him. He is an excellent acting coach, and I would recommend this class to everyone.
Best Acting Teacher EVER! Brent is the man! if you can, TAKE THIS CLASS! you will learn so much, and have a few good laughs also. he's very experienced in what he does, and is great at his job also.
This class was very entertaining! Quizzes, tests, and a few papers. He gives opportunities for extra credit. You NEED to take and study notes and the book for tests.
This is a fun class, with one big exception. In lieu of a final exam, you have to write & perform a scene. This is great if you don't work and live on campus. This sux if you work, live 30 minutes away from campus,go down there with your busy schedule 5 times only to not have your partner not show. It's not OK to have a group final.
I absolutely loved this class. It was so easy. Definitely take Brent!! He's awesome!!
Laing is great! He's very outgoing. He's a realist which means you have to work but it's such a fun class! This class was definitely a relief to go to. You become a little family and he helps you all the way.
Great teacher! Quizes on plays, tests on class lectures, class not mandatory but recommended so you dont need to read the text book.
read the plays he asks you to. also if you're nice, he'll help you and your grade out, so def pay attention and chime in in class every once in a while. very nice to you if you are to him. also he's really funny
Excellent teacher- passionate about his craft, and will help you understand the world of theatre, even if you don't already know/care. He takes honor code seriously, so don't be an idiot- and you'll do great.
Hes a great teacher and the class is interesting! Hes really funny, too!
Brent should win the professor of the YEAR award! Those who need Intro to Thea. for a Humanities credit will appreciate how Brent relates Theatre to real life. His sense of humor is rough sometimes, but overall he's a great man who'll help you out if you come to class, read the plays, attend the plays, and do your work! An easy, enjoyable A!
he is a cool guy. decently funny. and the class is not too hard as well. you have to read a lot of plays and are quizzed on them... but the quizzes aren't too hard and neither are the tests.
great guy.. if you read you will get an A, if you dont you can get into some trouble. Interesting and relatively funny. ONLY multiple choice tests. doesnt take attendance
Been at the College for a while. Very wise, knows his stuff. Teaches basic intro level classes, but builds a strong foundation by not only integrating students into class subjects, but also into the theatre department. Will get you involved if you show interest. Lovable soul, very nice, just don't BS him and he won't BS you. Great Professor!
I found him annoying. He repeats the same stories over and over and is only helpful to theater majors not to beginning actors.
Not an easy A, a lot of plays to read, its a discussion type note taking class so write down a lot that he says, have to pay for plays & write essays about them. Hes not the nicest guy
He acts as if his lectures are the stage and he is an actor reciting a monologue--super captivating lectures and really funny, extroverted guy. Clarifies everything by relating it to personal experiences. Requires a couple of essays and the tests are all multiple choice but if you follow his directions its an easy A.
great professor!! super funny. easy class as long as you read plays (i sparked noted all of them and did well) do exactly what he wants for the paper. and get the notes you'll do fine!
really nice guy. tests rely on you being in class and taking notes so you can study. the plays that he selects for quizzes are usually fun reads.
He is sometimes funny. He acts as if he is on a stage when teaching. If taking for a humanities credit: DO NOT TAKE. If you have an interest in a theatre major then you should consider taking him. If you don't read the assigned plays, you will fail every quiz. Take every note you can for tests.
He's a really nice guy who uses a lot of anecdotes when teaching, which I personally like in a teacher. He relates to his students and he really tries to help you hone your skills. He's funny and he gives really good feedback for acting. For papers in his acting class, though, you need to be REALLY specific, but I'd def take him again.
He's fascinating! Makes lectures animated. His first quiz will be very tough, and he's really particular on wording.
Brent is awesome He is a very good teacher and makes the class very interesting. He doesn't accept late work and doesn't allow makeup anything (even if your absence is excused) but the class is easy if you show up. You will have to go see some plays and read about 5 plays. you have to write essays and take quizzes on those. Spark notes is my friend
Brent is a terrific dude, he is also a phenomenal teacher. There are no tests in his class, so I don't know why people say he is a hard grader. All we do is memorize scrips and act them out in front of the class, its super fun. We do have an observation journal but that is very simple. Anyone who takes Acting 1 should take Brent Laing.
Not an easy A at all. He can be extremely rude and doesn't care for you or your grade if your not a theatre major. You have 3 tests, many plays to read and quizzed on, 2 plays to attend (3 hrs long), a paper, extra credit, and scene presentation final. I would not recommend taking him.
Brent is one of my favorite professors at the college. He truly is a nice guy. He is also super talented and interested in his students. If you are not interested in theatre or acting, you probably should not take this class. It is not an easy A.
I loved Laing! He is very sarcastic and loves to tell stories. You read a lot of play and take quizzes on them almost every class, but as long as you pay attention while you read, you'll do fine. He makes cheesy jokes, but they always made me laugh! I'd definitely recommend taking Laing for a gen ed credit!
He is hilarious, kind, and very understanding. He will make you work for your grade, but is still very accessible. His final for me was a group short play that was so fun. I would definitely take his class again if given the chance.
I have been doing Theatre for a very long time and Brent Laing brought me a completely different viewpoint of theatre. He really makes it a point for the class to feel close like a family. He makes you work for your grade, but it really isn't that hard. Overall great professor and easy class if you put in the work.
Best teacher I've had in college yet. Highly recommend that you take his Intro to Theatre class, very interesting and an easy grade!
worst professor ever. he has no respect or care for your grade. do not take him. hes the worst professor I have ever had in my life.
he is extremely difficult. He can also be very rude.
You read a lot of plays and take quizzes on them almost every class, but as long as you pay attention while you read and take notes you'll do fine. He does NOT care about your grades whatsoever and he is a tough grader when it comes to papers and sometimes he can be a bit rude but other days he can be nice and funny.
Brent was such a good teacher for an introduction class. He had tons of stories to share constantly about theater. He has had lots of experience in the performance and technical aspects of theater. He does sometimes digresses and forgets that tests are coming up. Though he has a detailed syllabus and sends email reminders. Take his class!
