I love Brent. He is the best professor I've had at U of A overall
Overall, the material was not hard, but what got me was the exams. Majority of the class would get pretty good grades on the exams, but I didn't do well since I get nervous on them and definitely should have been more prepared. 500 Total Points: 400 points on exams (4 exams) 100 points on other things (homework/case studies/ attendance)
Good teacher. Easy to get an A in the class if you do his study guides.
Exams were not easy, but definitely fair. Attend the lectures and you will learn alot. Have him next semester again and looking forward to it.
He is really a great teacher to teach the basic business statistic knowledge. He is kind and patient to answer your question. He responses your email quickly. Practice and review will give for each exam. If you review good, the test will be a piece of cake. He curves and gives extra credit to help his students get their expected grades. 100% enjoy!
Brent strives to make stats as clear and easy as possible. He is funny and relatable. If you ask he most likely will give you an additional resource or post materials from lecture online. Read the book because that's where most test questions come from. Walks you directly through the labs so you can get an A every time.
I have not regretted a single thing to choose this professor at MWF 9am class. Brent is amazing and he is amazing in teaching us the difficult materials presented in class. His entertains the class through his humors and is so far the best professor I have taken at the University of Arizona. He serves the definition of a true, caring professor.
Brent was a great teacher for BNAD 277. Honestly, if you go to class, do some studying, and take it seriously you will get an A! Brent is always willing to help out if you ask him, you just have to ask him! He can get side tracked in class but his tangents are funny.
Brent is fantastic at making sure people understand the material and get good grades. Homework and tests are curved, study hard and you will do fine. He is very laid back and sometimes unorganized/late to class, but show up and turn in every assignment, even if its incomplete, and youll do fine.
Brent is amazing! He is willing to help you and will work with you when you are not understanding something. He will help his students who he sees are struggling and will be very clear about what is going to be on the exam.
Brent made BNAD fun. He is really funny and fair to all his students. He wants everyone to do well and doesn't take himself too seriously. If you study and keep up with the connect assignments you should do just fine.
If you have to take a BNAD class Brent's the guy to do it with. He'll do anything to help his students learn & he's also super funny which makes a hard class a lil better. This class is challenging, but as long as you do ALL the practice problems he posts and go over the HW questions before a test it's manageable. He also gives some extra credit
Brent was awesome, he made class fun and enjoyable. Not going to lie, this class was difficult but he is super helpful and if you visit any of his or the preceptor's office hours you should be good. If you are going to take stats, make sure it's with him!!
Brent is a funny, nice professor and really cares about his students, but is an AWFUL teacher. His lectures are inconsistent, and he does not make a lot of sense explaining and working through problems. Stats is difficult as it is, but the structure of his class made it even harder to be successful. Gives a lot of extra credit.
Took class as a senior. Brent has been one of my favorite professors at U of A. I don't miss these large class sizes though. Took AP stats in HS and this class was at a much higher level. I don't have to take the next stat course, but hands down would take him again. Keep up with the work.
Brent was such a great professor! BNAD 276 was so easy with him and gives you many opportunities to help your grade.
Brent is an excellent teacher and gives quite a few extra credit opportunities. He also makes it readily apparent what will be on the test, so there is really no excuse to not succeed in this course.
Brent switched to only quizzes for the class. They were similar to exam difficulty, but only 1 chapter at time. Many opportunities to do well in class. Great professor at U of A. No regrets having him over 2 semesters.
Overall not an easy class. The class lectures don't help very much, you have to teach yourself the material. He gives a lot of extra credit.
Brent has been one of my favorite teachers at the U of A. He constantly offers opportunities to gain extra points on tests and is willing to move the entire classes test back if it falls on the same day as an acct 200 or econ 200 test. He drafts effective study guides for tests and one day brought his dog into a lecture for de-stressing purposes.
I loved having him as a professor. He will help you do well and clarify when needed. He tries his best to make stats interesting and does so successfully. One of the best teachers I have had at the U of A. He also makes sure the majority understands concepts and will review needed materials when he senses confusion.
I found this class to be my hardest one at the University of Arizona thus far. One good thing I can say about Brent is that he gives out a lot of extra credit.
Brent's class was my favorite of the semester. The class was not easy but he made it relatable to real-life applications and made me a lot more interested in statistics.
This class is really tough material wise. I feel like I learn how to actually do and apply stats from the lab, but take very little away from the actual lecture. Can pass without knowing much because there is a lot of random extra credit. Show up and you'll pass at least. Brent is a really nice guy and very approachable to get help.
Clear grading with opportunities for extra credit. Don't have to put in much work but if you study smart, should have no problem getting an A.
Brent is a tough teacher but he makes sure you know your stuff and will offer a lot of extra credit and is very accessible outside of class. If he gives you the option of taking several quizzes or 3 exams during the semester, take the quizzes, they're smaller and typically easier so you can get an easy A. Just come to lecture and watch the videos
Brent is one of the best professors I've ever had. He's a great guy who one could easily tell cares about his students. The material can be tough but he gives enormous amounts of easy extra credit and also is always there to tutor if you need help. I actually enjoy stats more now because of his class.
Brent loves to gives out extra credit like a frat boy loves to ask who you know here!!!! Hes the coolest guy ever & kills it every time, definitely take his class
This is by far one of the best professors I have taken at UA. He is hilarious and makes the class enjoyable. Statistics is an annoying subject but he actually makes you want to be there to learn the material. He gives a lot of extra credit which is a plus because it helps you out when you need it most! Would definitely recommend this professor!
I took both BNAD 276 & 277 with Brent and got A's in both. Pay attention to the synopsis he puts out. Most questions on the quizzes/exams come from that. He gives extra credit to those that show up a lot of the time so don't skip class.
He is an absolutely amazing, best teacher ever. LITERAL ANGEL. Very understanding and gives lots of extra credit. Recommend 100/100, he is so freaking nice i cant.
He is the best close your eyes and take him. He gives hell lot of extra credits, the papers are not very tough but you have to study. He does a lot of efforts posts videos of all the methods. Grades very well. He is an angel. One of the best professors I had.
He's amazing! an Absolute Gem!
Brent is a great guy and fun professor. However, his teaching style is a bit all over the place and makes it difficult to retain the information. While he does give out a TON of extra credit, I have been in the class for 3 months and feel like I haven't learned anything.
Brent's class was usually fun, and he gives tons of extra credit. He makes the tests and homework extremely easy, often dropping or cancelling assignments so I wasn't forced to learn very much in the class. Aside from that he is passionate about stats and is helpful and accesible if needed
Prof. Marinan is an extremely nice professor. He responds to emails quick as well. He gives out a significant amount of extra credit when he does random attendance checks throughout the semester. The class is heavily weighted on the tests so make sure to do very good on those and study!
Brent is one of my favorite professors! He makes the class much more manageable by doing small quizzes as opposed to big exams. He also offers many extra credit opportunities. Take him for 276 and 277 both if you can.
The class was pretty easy for the most part but there are many symbols you have to remember. He gives extra credit often so I highly recommend going to class. Overall a great professor!
If you need to take BNAD plis take it with Brent. He gives so many extra credit opportunities, and his class is overall fun to take. He's a very nice professor and I would definitely take another one of his classes in the future. Don't miss out and take a class with Brent!
Pre-session 3 week course - Easy to keep up with assignments and lecture videos are very helpful. All the tests are online and open note plus you get 2 hours and that is plenty of time to look up answers that you need to double check. I would highly recommend precession with Professor Marinan.
Brent is a kind and respectful teacher who aims to see all of his students succeed. His lectures were efficient and informative, and his goals for the semester are extremely clear. I really recommend taking any class with Brent.
Brent is amazing! He is so kind and understanding. He teaches so well but please go to class, that is where you will learn the majority of the material. He really wants you to do well.
Perhaps one of the most understanding professors I've had. His course is structured very well and his exams are not overly complicated. His lectures are always very engaging. He offers so many opportunities for extra credit, but as long as you attend lectures and take notes, you'll be fine. He's managed to make the course interactive and engaging.
Super nice, instead of 3 big tests he gave easier quizzes to cover the same material. Teaches tableau which is useful and cool (students complained about it) but it was extremely useful. Quizzes are just like his practice problems
Probably my favorite professor I've ever had. Super engaging and inclusive during his lectures, actually looked forward to this class. Super helpful and receptive to questions. It would be a mistake not to take this class with him!
Brent might be my favorite teacher/professor I have ever had at any level. He is an incredible, friendly, funny guy who is knowledgable about the subject. The class is quiz heavy and the material can be difficult but if you study and work with him you will do just fine. Lots of extra credit and fun games like jeopardy.
Brent is awesome. He gives so many extra credit opportunities, and really wants you to succeed in the class. Projects aren't too difficult at all, and there are grace periods for lateness. Tests aren't too bad if you're confident and/or study, and there are plenty of other grades to cushion that. Super helpful and respectful guy.
I'm not going to lie, this may have been one of my favorite courses at the UofA so far. Brent was an AMAZING professor and honestly just seems like a genuine guy. He takes the time to ensure understanding, he's funny dude, offers tons of EC opportunities. I'm not gonna say it's an easy A, but you won't regret taking it with Brent.
Brent is an amazing professor!! The first half of this class with the other professor is horrible, but his teaching was seriously the light at the end of the tunnel. His style of teaching and extra credit opportunities saved my grade. He also made the lectures infinitely more interesting to listen to.
Breaks down complex topics well. He summarizes the info from the book into digestible synopsis' so we don't have to read the book, which streamlines the process. The info course content can be daunting at times, but Professor Marinan made the course interesting and straight-forward.
Brent is super chill. Best professor I've ever had here. He quite literally asked us at the beginning of the semester how we wanted it to go. We said, online tests, multiple choice, lots of EC, etc... he said okay and that's how it's been all semester. Highly highly recommend.
Brent has consistently been one of the best professors I have had at the UA after taking him three times. He is knowledgeable about statistics and marketing strategies. The best at breaking down difficult concepts in lecture, while being very personable.
Dr Marinan was extremely engaging all semester. Dr. Marinan also really helps you understand the software Tableau Public, which is a really useful tool in the business world. His step by step videos of the projects make it easy to understand both what you are looking for and how to navigate the software. I would definitely take this course again.
I enjoyed this class a lot. He never made lectures boring. If I could, I would take another course with him! He even brought his dog the last day of class! For exams, study the study guide because it will help!
Really cool guy, terrible professor. Lectures do not reflect the tests.
If you have the chance to have this professor TAKE HIM, he da best
Literally my favorite professor, he is a good-natured and funny guy. He made the subject more fun to learn and had conversations with the class about class policy so you know he really cares. The hw assignments are video led and although the tests can be challenging he gives you what you need to know in class. I hope to have him for other classes.
Best professor I could ever ask for tbh, tons of extra credits PLUS snacks on review days before the exam. Whoever rate this man below a 4 is def never in class because the exams and Has are so easy. I would take this class all over again for the experience.
Brent was a super nice and friendly guy. You can tell he really wants his students to succeed. He lets you take the tests online and offers a lot of flexibility. He really listens to the students so if you want something changed you can change it. SO much extra credit
Fantastic professor. He does everything in his power to help students succeed. The class is organized and taught very well, lectures are clear and there are plenty of opportunities to get help and earn extra credit.
I took BNAD 276 with Brent over the summer as a 7 week course. The class was fast pace but manageable as it was well organized. There is extra credit opportunities and the grading is very fair.
This class is incredibly doable, and Professor Marinan is extremely helpful. I took this class via the online option and still found success. Professor Marinan does not assign too much homework, making this course incredibly manageable.
Had him for BNAD 276 and 277 (online) and he was a dream. In 276, he brought us snacks and treats which was really nice! 277 was pretty much a repeat of 276. Since it was a summer session, we were only graded on the tests and labs (and EC!!) Make sure to study the synopsis and lecture notes/powerpoints cause they are helpful for both classes!
Just a great guy overall. BNAD 277 is a ridiculously useful class to take if you are already in the workforce.
Brent is very likable, open to student suggestions for how class should work, and flexible. At first glance, the concepts can be difficult to digest but Brent does well explaining them. Good class.
THE GOAT! show up to class and get extra credit. easy A. awesome cool guy, would take again. So easy.
He is a GREAT teacher. He is so generous,if you show up, you can get extra credit! He is amazing, he gave us snacks and April bags(birthday bags), he even brought his dog as an assistant. Class was fun! He is amazing!! If you are taking BNAN 276, take with him, you won't regret!
Literally so much EC. Don't try to cheat on take home quizzes. he knows
Brent is the best professor I had last year. Was intimidated by some of the topics but made it easier to understand. Used the Tableau he taught during my summer intern.
He is the best professor at this school. SUCH A NICE GUY. He actually cares about his students. Such a good instructor with lots of EC. Very good communication and very fair on grading.
I loved this professor!! This class does require you to study outside of class because his lectures are short, but he gives lots of extra credit to make up for it. He really cares about his students and will help you if you're struggling. His assignments are easy to follow with videos too, so it's hard to get lost. Highly recommend for BNAN 276.
Professor is engaging in large class and made the stats material interesting connecting it to real world events. The exam guides are a great refresher before the exams along with the lecture slides and videos.
Professor Marinan made this class fun by keeping the classes entertaining, while still teaching us so much about Business Statistics. He really cares about his students succeeding, and I enjoyed my time in his class.
This was a good enough course, the material is not my favorite but it's easy to get through with Brent. His classes are very fun and you will get free snacks from him all the time. Lectures can be easy to get lost, but he's there for clarification after and posts them online. Exam/assignment heavy, although all assignments are given a video guide.
Had Brent for a stats class and a programming class. Explain concepts with realistic examples. Really cares about the students.
Professor Marinan made a challenging course enjoyable and easy to follow. He was incredibly responsive, explained everything clearly, and was very flexible with deadlines. I felt supported throughout the entire course and would definitely take it again. My favorite Professor at this university.
Without a doubt, this professor was the most reasonable and understanding professor I ever encountered. He also provided positive feedback and responded as quickly as possible. I took him for BNAN 277, which I highly recommend, as he actually cares and communicates effectively with his students. I would give him a 11/10 rating easily.
Great Professor to take for BNAN 276. Would recommend him to everyone to take him. He offers extra credit left and right as long as you go in person. Great lectures, uses real-world examples. Even though I do not really enjoy business stats at all, he made it possible and easy to pass this class.
Professor was super supportive. Many of the assignments were working together and interesting. Stats isn't the easiest but he made an early morning class much easier to get up for. Take him if you can.
Overall really nice and very understanding guy, but taking this at 8am was brutal. The lecture presentations are pretty vague and he doesn't give much detail, which leaves you to figure out how to do it on weekly group assignments. Honestly, take this for extra credit but you're better off going with any other BNAN 276 teacher.
This professor was good and let us make the syllabus at the beginning of the semester, but he wasn't that great at teaching. I've never taken a stats class before, and he just read off the slides the entire time, and sometimes his slides were outdated and confusing. He did provide lots of extra credit, so he makes the class easy to pass.
Awesome professor. Favorite this semester. Class goes by quickly as always working on real world data assignments in groups. Replied so quickly to emails.
Professor Marinan was amazing at teaching excel and python programming. Super helpful during class as the material and exams can be difficult sometimes and will offer extra credit. Take him if you get the chance.
One of the best professors I've had at the University of Arizona.
