Best Math instructor IVC has! Very willing to help his students. He really wants his students to succeed in math. He makes math concepts easier to understand and helps make math a little less excruciating.

He is the best teacher ever. He really cares about his students and wants them to understand Math. I have struggled with math for a while and thanks to his help I not only understand it but passed the class as well. I would highly reccomend him to anyone who has any Math classes to take.

Monte is an awesome math professor. Math is my worst subject, but he made it much more interesting and he explains things so well that I understand the class much more than I did in high school. He's hilarious and very approachable.

Monte is very thorough in his lectures. He's kind, very helpful, and approachable. There really aren't any surprises because he tells you what to expect on tests, and quizzes are very easy if you know the material. I would recommend him to anyone that has him as an option.

take this class. tests are open book but don't do the mistake I did, and slack off. stats starts off easy but it gets tricky as the course progresses. Monte is a nice guy and a great teacher, but his class is deff not an easy A. There is a small quiz at the beginning of every class, so attendence is a must! Drops your lowest test score and replaces it with your quiz score, so that helps A LOT. go to class, take really good notes, do the hw (he doesnt collect it) and study.. and you should pass..

I appreciate that he does a sort of 'grade makeover' at the end of the semester, moving points from here to there to see what the highest grade you can get is. Him and Zucker are both pretty good.

Professor Brent Monte is by far the most inspiring math teacher I have ever taken. I have taken math previously and I have hated it!!! But, Professor Monte's teaching style has not only helped me to understand mat better but it has also helped to show me how important math really is. And now I actually like math a lot. Took him in Fall 2007 , Math 253 -INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA online course and still wish he taught all Math courses at IVC! His methods of teaching are simply the best and is by far the most fair and caring of all them. He gets to know all students very well by end of semester and reworks points at end to get you best possible grade! AWESOME guy.

An absolute sweetheart with the mind of intelligence. He teaches step by step and tries his best not to confuse anyone. Very understanding and will help anyone with no problem at all. 2-4 quizzes based on the section and are the easy ones. Best of all,each chapter has an exam rather than having 3 chapters in one exam which is difficult to do.

I've always sucked at math and I've gotten 2 A's on my tests (and 1 C, bc I didn't study) He lets you use your book+notes on the test, but make sure you pay attention or your book will be useless during the test. He always takes the time to answer your question completely and doesn't treat you like you're dumb. Terrible speller though.

Prof. Monte's class was great because homework was spaced out every two weeks. You do have to take the midterm & final in class,don't have someone else do your homework or you will fail, even if it's open notes. The tests are timed and statistics is very time consuming, I cannot express enough that you need to know what you are doing.

He has suggested hw problems on the syllabus as study guide for tests, but no required hw. 4 tests and 1 final determines your grade. This was a really easy class. Tests are open bookopen noteopen everything. You get as many retries as you want on homework questions. You'd have to try really hard to fail this class. Definitely recommend.

I always struggled and only passed math classes by sympathy grades and even though this class wasn't easy, he made it clear enough that I actually passed without the need for a sympathy pass. Do ALL the homework, show up and pay attention, take notes, STUDY a night or two before, and you'll be solid. -coming from a student who is TERRIBLE at math.

His exams arent hard. The questions were similar tot eh homework questions. The way he teaches in class everything becomes simplified. Just study a day before the exam and you should be ok. Super awesome guy very clear cut and too teh point. May sure when studyin to study teh why factor also final isnt cumulative

Super cool guy. Very clear. He will answer to any questions and always has a funny comment. Easy A as long as you show up to class and study a little for tests. His tests are easy, all I did was go over the notes we took in class to study. 5 pretty easy test, and one super easy multiple choice final that will replace your lowest grade.

Professor Monte was extremely helpful and lenient towards my schooling. I had a family trip during the duration of the class and he allowed me to have an extension on the homework. When the class required program denied me access to the rest of my work, he was apologetic and quick to respond with a fix. Definitely would take again.

I never personally thanked Monte because I'm shy, but he was a role model to me. I almost dropped out of school because of my struggle with math, so I was very lucky to meet Monte because he was very helpful and friendly. I passed math 253 and math 8 with him. I miss his clear way of teaching so i'd take again. I also admire him as a runner.

Honestly he's a great teacher, will always help you when you ask for it. I am not the best at math but he is really putting in an effort to help me. As long as you do your part and study you SHOULD do well.

Monte's amazing. If he taught all of my math classes in high school, I would've aced every single one. He connects so well with the students and explains it all in a way that everyone can understand. I was in a hybrid class, and the questions he used for the midterm and final were ones he gave us on the study guide (just changed the numbers). Take!

I've taken Monte twice. He made class enjoyable even though I disliked the subject. He is extremely patient and encouraging. It wasn't an easy class or subject for me but he is an amazing teacher who teaches clearly and that helped a lot.

Doesn't assign homework for credit. It is only for your benefit to practice for the tests. He goes through each lesson step by step and makes sure everyone understands before moving on. His explanations are very clear. Only has tests, but one is replaced by a final which is a multiple choice test (most do well on it).

He's a very good teacher, it's easy to understand him and his tests aren't really hard. If you go to class and do your homework every now and then you'll do great.

No homework. 6 exams. 1 final. Pretty straight forward. Just learn the math and ask questions. No study guide. Exam after every section.

I loooove Professor Monte. Stats is not the easiest subject but he's good at making it easy for his students. Homework is optional, but make sure you do give it a look. Your grade is based off 5 or 6 exams, all of which are open book/open notes! But regardless of that, he's amazing at explaining concepts. Definitely excited to take him again.

I'm not an algebra person and Monte made me like math class because he is so PHENOMENAL at explaining everything. His tests are super easy and he gives away the test questions (basically) at the review session. He often skips things that you'll never use again which is good in my book but doesn't let you just skim through difficult material either.

homework is around 80-100 questions per chapter, but it's due every 2 weeks. you get to go to class every friday and he helps with the homework and take questions. it's a good class if you have the commitment to go

Monte is the highlight of my friday mornings. I thought i'd hate taking a friday morning class but this professor is so funny that it became my favorite class. The class uses mymathlab and there's homework due every other sunday night. But, you basically do all the homework in class during lecture so it's super easy to get it done.

Homework is not graded. I am not a math person whatsoever and managed to pass this class with some effort.

One of the best professors I've ever had. Monte makes the concept easy to understand. The class is out of 600 points - 5 tests and a final. He assigns problems out of the book that are similar to the ones on the test, but it is not mandatory. I would recommend doing a few of the problems to see if you understand it. Brent Monte is the man! Calculus is a hard class bottom line. He does a great job teaching. I took Monte for Algebra and Calculus, recommend him to anyone.

Professor Monte is absolutely hilarious. He really knows his stuff and cracks the class up. He's fun, and lectures/tests are straightforward. There's homework but he doesn't collect, though it's a good idea to do it so you understand his lectures and are prepared for the tests. Only tests and then the final.

I have mixed feelings about monte personally. His tests are not very hard at all. He is partial credit king no doubt. He gives no study guide and gives no quizzes just 5 tests all worth 100 points. Homework you have to do it but its not collected but you need it to understand the material. In all calculus is very tough if you do not like math.

The best math teacher there in south orange county. Extremely knowledgeable and teaches by example not by lecture. I highly suggest this teacher he has a background in economics, business, and mathematics. He doesn't give mandatory homework (although it helps on tests) and he doesn't take attendance, so if you know your stuff you don't have to go.

He is willing to answer any questions about math and will explain one on one if needed. His lectures are kind of boring but he explains the material well. Calculus is not an easy class but if you have to take it, take it with him. lectures are helpful so take good notes. hw will help too, but not required. I recommend doing well on his exams and not counting on having your final grade replace one of them. exams are doable, but his finals are hard. WE'RE IN COLLEGE! DONT EXPECT ANY STUDY GUIDES!

I took this class over summer, there was a lot of homework. If your final test score is higher than the midterm, then it will replace it. All the homework prepares you for the two tests (midterm and final). He is good at reminding students when things are due. If you are strong at math then I would highly recommend him.

This class was straightforward and easy. There Is a lot of homework so do not procrastinate on that. If you do all the homework and understand all the material you will do fine on the midterm and final. The homework questions from the book are very similar to the ones on the tests.

Monte was rare one indeed. He is very generous with his grading but he does not get any extra credit whatsoever. The homework also does not count towards your grade. 5 exams including the final and they are decently challenging. No study guides as well but his humor will get you through the class. However, there's not a lot of leeway for points 600 in his class. 6 tests, drops lowest test grade & replaces it with final grade (If grade is higher). Tests were tough. No study guides. Took Prof Monte this fall. He is a great guy and knows a lot about math. The problem I think is that your grade is based on only the tests and he drops one if you score higher on the final is higher. really funny and he'll explain everything really clearly if you don't understand. class is just going through example problems from the book together on the board. he lets you drop your lowest test, so you're graded on 4 tests and homework.

First few tests were tough but once he started making his own, they clearly reflected what we did in class. Also an online homework portion of your grade done through a program called Sapling that was unnecessarily complicated. Tests are open-notes and if you do well on the first 4, you don't have to take the final (drops lowest test score OR hw).

I took Professor Monte for online stats. The assignments consisted of online homework for 12 chapters, a midterm, and a final. The concepts were not too difficult and the exams contained questions similar to the homework, making it easier to study. As long as you stay on track and study the homework problems, you can easily get an A. Great prof!

Midterm and Final worth a total of 60% of your grade and homework is worth 40%. No tricks to taking this class, do your homework on time and make sure you understand it. The exams exactly reflect the homework so if you do the homework you've seen the exam questions before. 10/10 professor, I wouldn't pass a math class without him.

Math is my least favorite subject but Professor Monte makes it fun! He's a really great guy, very clear and helpful and his exams are open book or open note! Not to mention he isn't heavy on homework and gives you until the day of the exam to turn it in anyway. He's great I took him twice!

I've always been good at math, but for whatever reason statistics was a real issue for me in high school. I think there are few professors who have a really solid way of teaching this course,and professor Monte is the first teacher to make this type of math understandable to me. Monte has 5 tests and homework. He drops either the lowest test or the lowest homework grade. Since I got an A on the first 4 tests as well as an A on the HW, I didn't have to take the last test to keep my A. His class is well taught and everything is given to be successful. Study HW, Take Notes and make a good Cheat Sheet for the Tests ( 1 page).

Day 1 of class, Professor Monte reviewed his syllabus, it was straight to the point 5 exams and on-line homework. Grading criteria was based on the 5 exams, drop lowest exam and replace it with homework grade. Lecture were clear to follow. We had to switch to the on-line live lecture because of the COVID 19 Pandemic. The class was Awesome!

I wasn't sure whether I will do well in his class. But I was wrong. He is amazing and very engaging. Drops one exam (includes final if you want). Professor Monte is one of the best prof's at IVC. All his tests are open note, all the homework is open at the start of the chapter, and the HW problems are the exact same, excluding the numbers, as on the tests. If you do the HW you will pass the class as well he doesn't make attendance mandatory so you can just watch the recording he puts out.

Professor M. is very straight forward. His lectures are pre-recorded on yt (loved this b/c you could always go back!) and the next day in class you would go over any homework problems or questions in general you would have. I highly recommend this professor. He is easy going and makes it so that his students succeed. I was fearful of Statistics but the way Prof. Monte taught this class made it easy to learn and pass. His lectures are fantastic and the tests are exactly like the HW so there are no surprises. Take good notes on each homework problem and you will do great on the tests, it is really that simple. Open note exams and he drops the lowest scored test.

He is a good teacher to take if your looking to pass and not actually learn. His tests are super easy because he makes you buy Stat Crunch (about 75 dollars) which does everything for you. If you are taking this class as a prerequisite or to transfer and its not actually your major, I highly recommend.

Be prepared to learn everything on your own. All lectures are on youtube and you need to take your own notes and. Tests are literally the same as the homework. If you have your homework fully completed and organized, you can reference it for the test. Tests are not on proctorio, just the camera on.

I had Prof Monte for stats and it was beyond easy. Every person I talked to struggled with stats, but since Monte used StatCrunch, the class was 10x easier than it should've been. Take this professor!! He made me want to take him for oCalculus, and I absolutely love it.

Professor Monte got that DAWG in him. One of the most chill professors all calculations are done on a computer program. All the test questions come from the homework if you do the hw well then you're gonna excel in the tests. Take him no matter what one of the best professors at the school. Attendance is not mandatory but use it to ask questions.

TAKE HIS MATH10. This is the most wonderful professor I've ever had. Absolutely no judgement, if you're not a stem major, if you are it doesn't matter anyone can succeed in this class. I recommend for anyone who needs their math requirement out of the way! He was a really chill guy and drops lowest exam score so you can even ditch the final exam if you do well all semester.

He's very tech-based, everything is online, including homework and lectures. Some students may have a hard time learning that way, but his lectures go into depth and detail. If there are questions, he will be happy to answer them during class. He doesn't input hw grades right away, but homework scores are on the website we use for exams/homework.

I took Professor Monte's MATH 10 class in my first semester of college, right after graduating high school. It was possibly the best decision I've made in my life. I've always struggled in math, but he explained it in such a clear way. Hw is super easy and his exams are almost identical to HW questions. PLEASE TAKE HIS CLASS, HE'S THE BEST!

great professor as long as you do your homework the tests are basically exactly the same. there is no makeup for testing though.

Really good professor!!! If you are at saddleback and looking for a math 11 teacher take him not anyone at saddleback!!!

Although it's an in-person class, everything is basically online. You could go the whole semester without attending his lectures if you wanted to, but you have to watch them on youtube. Rather than teaching you a bunch of formulas, he shows you how to input it into a program and what numbers to look for.

Do homework, attend/watch lectures, if you fail this class it's on you

Best professor I've ever had. Attendance wasn't mandatory but I recommend going to understand the lecture better. Tests were in person but very easy if you watched the lectures and did the homework. He also drops the lowest test grade. Overall such a caring teacher and an easy A if you put some effort.

genuinely such a great professor. attendance wasnt mandatory so like 9/45 students would show up. he lectures in person + posts the videos online. hw is due on day of exam. lowest exam is dropped out of 5, or u can drop 100 pt hw from whole semester. exams are open-note, questions from hw. lowkey impossible to fail this class. take him if u can!

One of the best professors I have taken in IVC. Lectures are clear and easy to understand. Let's you drop one exam that you think you did the worst in. Tests and homework have the same concepts that he teaches in his lecture videos.

By far the best teacher at IVC !! I took his summer statistics course. He introduced a tool called “stat crunch” that essentially does the tedious work for you. He also drops the lowest test grade. He's super cool and laid back. If you fail, it's on you !!! I mean that with a passion.

the goat. i suck at math and would probably fail fifth-grade math if you put me through it again. but mr. monte literally saved me; super helpful lectures, doable homework, and lets you drop your lowest test grade.
