Funny and so willing to help students!!!
Amazing Guy!!! always there to help!
very committed to students who take his class seriously. nice guy.
joker, but not helpful at all. strict in marking case and exams.
Such a nice man! Makes class very interesting and entertaining. Great teacher.
recommended! he is really nice
He's a great guy, but he doesn't teach the material. If you want good jokes take his class, if you want substance, don't do it!
This teacher is an amazing human being
excellent jokes!!!! extremely funny guy at the beginning of the classes...gets u all hyped up every class...but then doesnt teach anything in the course...fun though!(the book is really good, and so is the project)
Very nice guys. Doesn't teach book material, but has good examples and experiences of business life. Take him , easy class
awesome man, awesome prof! his jokes were a little stale.. but overall great person. excellent advice giver, and very helpful, jmsb should be full of profs like him. great job!! :)
Good teacher is all i have to say!!
great teacher. he makes jokes 70% of the class, but when he is serious he is the best teacher in the world. I admire this person for his values and ability to motivate people. He is just an extraordinary man. You won't be sorry to take his class even if you don't get very high grade.
the nicest teacher i have ever had! he likes to talk about jokes in the beginning of the class. he doesnt like to teach stuff on the books but he will teach you with him own experiences. super easy marker!! no matter what problem you have, go ask him, he will try his best to help you!
He is the most helpful, amazing prof i've had! Ask him as many questions as you wish, he's there to help you 110% of the time. His jokes are great at the beginning of class...it's refreshing after a long day of school. Take Brent's class, you won't regret it!

Brent is just a great guy overall, and I doubt if he even reads the exams! The exams have info from other courses that was not even taught here, but overall I would reccomend that you try to get Brent if you can!
one of best teachers EVER! some students don't really get him, or understand what he's trying do with the class. Their loss! He does what 90% of the teachers out there can't do. Bring the best out of yourself. A lot of respect for this guy
wow ! makes teaching look very cool. AWESOME! he is a great marketing man. He is the BEST EVER. Concordia is lucky to have him. (Mr. Pearce if youre reading this, thanks for the night at Hurleys)
Great guy, great speaker, great teacher. Very approachable and helpfull on your group project - he's willing to asssist you in anyway possible. Drops hints on test material to know.
Brent Pearce is an amazing teacher! His jokes and stories keep the class entertained! Hes extremley helpful and caring academically and with personal issues. His exams are easy and hes a fair marker! If you have the chance to take his class make sure you do! he makes you want to go to his classes!!
Great teacher and person. Spends first 20 minutes of each class telling jokes. Always lets you out early. He's very approachable and helpful. Truly cares about his students.
nice guy.
He is there is tell jokes. If you like to waste your time, he is your choice. He never teaches. The only thing he does: Get as many jokes as he can off the net and enjoys them himself by sharing with you during class. Nice huh? But when it comes to the exams & Group projects, you wont laugh anymore.
Mark 405 is kind of a joke.. So I did not mind him spending class time to tell jokes, but I would if it was a serious class... He is a good guy... Actually cares...
Nice guy, but never teaches! Its almost useless to go to class cause everything he talks about is irrelevant to his exams or project. You can literally skip every class and end up with a B+.
Brent is a good guy and he tries to make you laugh as much as possible but when it comes to actualy teaching jhe is not your man. However he is very helpfull and is there to give you advises on everything.
Very nice teacher! Very kind and understanding. He makes the class more interesting than it should be and time goes faster. You can't expect have A's in his class but at least you can get a decent grade easily with him. I strongly recommend that you take this teacher because you will learn a lot from his personal experience.
I'll tell you one good thing about this guy, he's VERY entertaining. His teaching methods are mediocre but this guy's sense of humor is what made me attend most of his classes. A truly unique style.
Brent is a nice guy. He is entertaining - however he does have a tendency to tell the same jokes over and over... Like everyone else has said, if you are taking the class to really learn then you are with the wrong prof. He is a faily easy grader. If you work your ass off you will get a B+ or A- and if you don't go anything all semester you'll ge
Brent is the Best Prof Ever ! We deserve an A for this presentation !
Best TEACHER AT CONCORDIA!!!!
Brent Pearce rocks. By far, one of the most dedicated and helpful profs at Concordia who goesw out of his way to help out his students. YOU MUST take him before you get out of that dump
Pearce is one of the best professors I've ever had. He is very knowledgeable, funny, presents the material in an interesting way, and really cares about his students. I highly recommend him.
Brent is a great teacher, he tries his best to help his students. He has expectations for the projects, but he will lay out the details and help you to achieve them. However if you are a very serious student who wants serious teacher, don't take him, he is rather...amusing! But if you know how to appreciate, he is the best!
BY FAR, the BEST teacher at Concordia. THE ONLY person that actually cares about students, is helpful, has a personal approach and sees students as individual human beings not objects. THE ONLY teacher that will remember ur name, and call u "luv" and actually SMILE when he sees u. All other teachers should be ashamed of themselves: great job Brent!
Brent rocks! He keeps the class very interesting and tells you exactly what he expects on the projects. Best marketing teacher...I will take him as many times as I can!
i only register for classes that brent teaches
Do not leave Concordia without taking a class with this guy! He is by far the best teacher there! He's real, to the point, not caught up in notes and lectures like some other anally retentive teachers you may have had!! 350 characters is not enough to say how awesome he is! Mark 455 was the funnest class! Take him!
i've already graduated but i still remember this teacher - and what he was teaching. he's definetly the best teacher i've had at concordia in my 4yrs of study. AMAZING TEACHER and person really. u'r the best Brent - that summarizes it.
Brent is freaken amazing! He's not an easy grade, but you'll have fun working for him. Likes to joke a lot, kinda ****, at first I was annoyed, now i know that he's just like that! He's really understanding and insightful...DO NOT GRADUATE WITHOUT BEING IN HIS CLASS FIRST!
He is THE BEST! To give you a quick example, you start the class with about 1/2 an hour of jokes. He is amazing and he is always willing to help out. you really SHOULD take a class with him if you havent done so. Pll love him or hate him... I love him!
Brent Pearce is an excellent professor, mark 454 was extremely useful with him. teachs real life business. i got alot of benefits. he is extremely helpfull, organized, since of hummor, caring, unique teaching style. highly recommended. go to his lectures and defintly i will do well in the exams since the questions either make sence or very straigh
One of the most entertaining politically uncorrect teacher!
Brent goes all out for his students and is always willing to help them out and provide helpful feedback. He knows how to have a good time and will answer any questions you very quickly.
He's definitely very entertaining and is all about making class fun and having a good time! First half hour of class is devoted to his jokes of the day! A big joker. I did find the class a bit useless sometimes though.
THE best teacher of JMSB! He is an inspiring teacher. I really admire him for caring about the community and making sure that his students are having fun while studying! I enjoyed every minute of his lectures and there should be more teachers like him!
very good class, amazing teacher!! take him!!!
Pretty much everything stated is true. Amazing, inspirational, and funny. he gives great tips about the job market (HR really is the worst resource to contact if you want a job) but maaan, what a hard ass when it comes to grading. And no, this isn't from a B-/C+ student who was looking for an easy pass. My class spread: NO A+/A, one single A-. one
amazing teacher... expects alot from students and is a hard marker... be prepared to go the extra mile when working on your projects for this course... worth taking though... pays off in the end.
If you dont take this man at least once in your academic marketing career you're an idiot. But if you are taking him to get an easy grade, don't bother. Take him for the experience & knowledge, not for the grade. He is so awesome and I will never forget it, he leaves that much of an impact. He is an amazing person & teacher.
BRENT ROOOOOOOOOOOOCKS!!!! Absolutely positively by far the best teacher I've had.. He truly cares about his students. I've taken him twice now and will take him again if I have the chance. Granted he doesn't give A's, but I got an A- in both classes so it's very doable, you just need to know that he sees through **** and grades accordingly.
Brent is a fantastic teacher, I switched my major to marketing because of him. You have to take one of his classes, he's hilarious.
Best teacher I ever had so far. Great person, and if you do not take him you are missing out. I am going to miss this class. I became a better person after attending his class. Best experience at Concordia.
This guy is a role model with qualities that the people from today need to learn.
Very likeable person. No A+'s and only one A given. How to get the A-:1.Know the main txtbook concepts for the midterm (Pearce will tell you them beforehand) 2.Memorize the textbook for the final (no joke) 3.Give your group project visual appeal, beef up appendix with graphs & write concisely. 4.Get the 14 free marks from the online quizzes & MRP.
Marketing is common sense! And Brent is the best to teach it to you!I loved this class, especially his fun jokes. Thanks, Brent, you're the best!
He is a great teacher. In class you can have fun and in the same time learn some quality material.
Best Teacher at JMSB and i mean it!
Brent is a legend. YOU MUST take one of his classes before graduating. He also has a heart of gold. HE IS INSPIRING! His class was not hard, no exams just assignments..however he expects a certain level from you on the assignments.
Absolutely ridiculous class. No structure. He basically wings the entire course. Makes you think twice about marketing because everything has to be "show" if you want a decent grade in this class. It's not about content but about showmanship which is literally defeats the purpose of learning. Want a free ride & won't learn a single thing? Take it.
This is the second class I've taken with him (also took COMM 224) He is by far the best teacher I've had. He's the most interesting teacher at JMSB and his experience in marketing is invaluable. Definately take any class with him.
Easy to get a B and maybe B+, much harder to get the A- level but even that is pretty doable. No exams. Dont learn anything. Make use of tables, graphs, "wow" concepts and detailed, backed-up explanations for everything and you will do well. CHILL CLASS. The oral presentations must be more of a dramatic ridiculous production if you want a good grad
You don't learn anything in this course. It's 80% watching ridiculous YouTube videos, reading email forwards, and recycling jokes. He's a good guy but he just doesn't teach. Make sure you don't take anything seriously, write every assignment in point form because he has ADHD, and make sure it's as ridiculous as possible. Kindergarten style. UGH.
best teacher ever, i took him again for mark491, made you learn without even realizing it, and made the class interesting. Funny guy.
No your typical teacher for sure! He tries to give everyday examples and implement them in the course material. You may know understand where he is going with these examples at first, but as you listen you just get it. Always there to answer your questions and don't be afraid to protest your grades, he is open to look at your exams again.
Interesting teacher. YOu'll learn alot from the real work. He's is funny but a hard marker
I love the guy, but there is a serious problem with this course. I wish I took my introductory marketing class with him, but in a class like DRM, I'd rather be his friend than his student. Found the grading rather arbitrary with far-too-vague expectations. Brent's a great guy, just reconsider taking 455. Expect a B- (I'm an A student).
By FAR the BEST teacher I have ever had at Concordia. You will never meet a teacher that cares for students as much as he does. Amazing, I'll always remember this guy
Honestly, I will take this guy as often as I can! No tests only assignments, really nice break for JMSB students...his teaching goes far beyond the classroom & although some of his assignments are quite questionable I love this man. Contrary to the whole "he only gives B's" comments, I got an A-, and yes the assignments are vague, that's the point!
What an extraordinary human being. Brent truly inspires his students to make a difference outside the classroom. As a professor though, I don't find I learned much more than I already knew before taking the course...so things were a bit disappointing in that sense. Classes are mostly jokes, stories & "life lessons" (but there's work)!
No books, no exams. Only assignments. Pretty chill class. He is crystal clear on what he wants when it comes to assignments. He jokes a LOT, which is good if you take him in the early morning. He has a heart of gold. Attend here and there, do your assignments, volunteer for him at least once, show that you care, minimum B+! This class is a breeze!
What can one say about Brent! He is an absolute star!! He loves helping out students and is very prompt with responding to emails! :) He will even call you on a Saturday if you ask him to! Great Teacher...Best one in JMSB!! Lot of work require in his course but no midterm or final!! Love you Brent!
A very unconventional proff, makes for a great learnin experience! I reccomend him.
Best teacher ever! thats how it should be :)
Brent is the best. Period. He accepts constructive critique from students. He is very good teacher and amazing lecturer. Keep this guy at work for life! Seriously, I am International and he is real world class prof!
Brent is the best! One of the most caring individuals I've met. He's not a traditional prof and his classes are quite entertaining. Subject and organization are a bit all over the place but project is very hands on.
Brent is the Greatest Prof at JMSB. Take advantage of this fact and TAKE HIM. He is unconventional and extremely helpful. highly recommended.
Took Brent's class after hearing all the positive buzz. If you're more of a structured/book worm type, this isn't the class for you. Here's, it's all about getting down to the nitty gritty. Get involved, show up to class, relax and smile. No need to take notes, but once you start that project, don't slack off.
Brent is by FAR the best prof to ever step foot into JMSB. He is unbelievably kind and caring towards his students, and brings real-life scenarios straight to the classroom. He is an incredible person and I recomend that EVERY Marketing student takes him at least once throughout their undergrad! Wish he taught MBA and MSC level courses as well!
One of the best teachers around. He is approachable and makes the class interesting. He shares alot of interesting personal experiences and every student should try taking him at least once.
Very knowledgable and experienced, extremely laid back attitude, talks a lot though it's not always easy to make parallels with his anecdotes and the material. Still, he wants you to succeed and is an all around great guy. Always has an open door, flexible and caring. Everyone raves about this guy, he's a legend! Go to his Xmas party fundraiser.
Best Prof at Concordia. This prof is hilarious. He's so amazing that you might even change your major to marketing. Very helpful but a little strict marker. Makes the class very entertaining and you would actually look forward to attending his class. AMAZING. TAKE HIM!
THE BEST PROF IN JMSB by far- knowledgeable, caring, inspiring, teaching you something not only from the book but about yourself even... THE BOMB!!! RECOMMEND x100000 but if you are a slacker- run away! not gonna happen in his class
He is one of the best teachers at Concordia! He is so good I am planning to take 2 more courses with him. Teaches you life not some useless theory! One of the highest class attendance rates at JMSB. Also, many students take him for there other classes. HE IS AMAZING!!!
If you like to be told exactly what you need to do, this is not the right professor for you. If you are willing to learn, and would like real business advise, take him!! I took 4 classes with him and everytime I learn something new that helps my career. Love him!
I don't understand these reviews. He spends the entire class telling jokes. I get more for my money at comedy nest.
He is a very fun teacher, and he gives you very nice quotes and videos. Which are not related to the subject that you take, but it is related to your future. So take his advice serious, and try to make fun out of the class.
Brent is just amazing. He can make you engaged every class. The only thing that i dislike is his grading. Most of his exams are short answer and essay forms without too many MTQ. He can bring you to another level.
Spends too much time telling jokes and carrying on about his personal life leaving little time to properly cover the material, but he says "wink wink nudge nudge" when we come across information that will be on the quizexam and he posts those slides online. Expensive book. Final grade is based on 3 quizzes, a midterm, group project, and final.
A very knowledgable teacher who knows the marketing field very well. He teaches you about what's in the real world! Amazing teacher. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a mark 201 teacher! He is inspirational!!!
Brent is by far one of the best teachers at Concordia. He relates the material towards real life situations. He truly cares for his students, but you have to be ready to read the assigned chapters he tells you to read. If you follow his guideline, youll do very well.
He didn't cover the content as listed in the outline as he spent time telling jokes. To systematically understand the course, you need to read books at home. He is nice and inspirational, but not teaching the materials well. He gave questions for the final prior to the exam, but super difficult.
He is a good person and has a reputation in his area, but not my type. Lots jokes and lots "practical story" during the lecture but if you want to enhance your CGPA, avoid him. Mid is hard, Quiz is hard. No A. A+ last winter semester. 4 A- among more than 90 guys. He consider the normal expecting grade is B.
Brent Pearce is an amazing teacher. He is truly inspirational and cares about his students if you show him the effort you are applying to the class. I would defientely take him again! Although he is a tough grader, you learn about the real world!!!!! Excellent teacher. Thank you Brent!
Average grade is a B, highest grade was A- (4 students out of 60). does not believe anyone is deserving of an A+ no matter how hard you try and As are also very hard to receive. does not believe in guidelines for projects (expects u to figure it out) no textbook so you are left to your own devices (google) funny man but i would NOT take him again
Brent is a very nice person who genuinely cares about his students. He's very funny and makes jokes all the time. He teaches you what real life is about, more than what the textbook says and that you will probably forget after the exam. He's a hard grader, so if you are looking for an A+, don't take him.
Very Overrated teacher, I took him based on the reviews and eventually before midterm I realized that i made very good choice. However, after the midterm he wont care about the group project grades and will mark very bad. Never teaches properly, just care about his own life. If you are very good in talking with prof, take him.
Great teacher. I would definitely take him again. I'm not a marketing major but I found his class interesting with his real life examples. He is a reasonable grader and will give you feedback if you ask for it concerning the group project. He makes class entertaining.
He's a tough grader and spends too much time cracking jokes instead of teaching. He does it on purpose because he doesn't want his students to get A's. In the very first week, he told us to expect at least a B- from him. For the midterm, he gave full mark on some questions then took it off when he realized that I was close to getting an A!! Avoid!!
He's not mean or anything but he's old school. The guy has lived and it's maybe time for him to retire... I'd sit in one of lectures for free because he's quite entertainment but as a teacher, I can't deal with him. His expectations are unrealistic. Don't take him especially if you know that you're lazy. Good luck
Do not take this teacher if you care about your GPA because it's almost impossible to get an A from him. The best you can hope is a B which is not enough for me. Had another teacher graded my midterm, I could've easily gotten an A- but I got B- instead. His expectations are a bit too high in my opinion and I would never take him again!!
I don't understand these ratings. He doesn't believe in A's and gives 0 feedback on assignments. Arbitrarily grades exams so that everyone ends up with a B regardless of work put in. Spends half the class telling the same jokes over and over again. More of a friend to lazy students than a teacher. If you take university seriously avoid him.
His lectures are definitely not tradition but I can honestly say, I learned a lot more with him than any other class I've taken. The only downside is that he does not give out A's. Nevertheless, he is a great person to have in your corner and is ALWAYS available to help you out. Very few people in the world like him, very caring.
Great teacher!! He's hilarious & always makes class fun. He posts the slides you need to learn & tells you which ones are important for the midterm/final. Keep in mind for the final he doesn't write it so it isn't the same format as the midterm, but he gives you a heads up of what to expect :) Would definitely recommend him!
Good teacher, very nice and fun. Knows what he talks about. You won't have any surprise for the tests.
If you care about your grades, you need to stay away from him and I actually don't plan on ever taking him again. However, he's not a bad teacher at all. I'd voluntarily go to his lectures for the sake of learning as long as he doesn't grade me. Good luck if you end up with him because you'll need it. He's the definition of a tough grader.
He will ruin your GPA because he doesn't believe in "good grades" that's why it's almost impossible to get an A from him.
Brent is one of the best Jmsb teacher. He might not teach all the content you need for exam in class but he will make you think about real life matters and will open your mind on many things!
He is an awesome teacher even though he is a tough grader, not in a bad way. For his mid-term, he looks for keywords to give full marks so it is important to be very specific. Yet, he gives good feedback and if you show up to his office hours, and he is there to give advice. Also, take note of "nudge nudge, wink wink" slides.
Hes a really tough grader.
Took Brent for COMM 223 in Winter 2017. Great guy, super friendly, caring, and funny (even though he repeats the same jokes, just laugh again). He's a fair grader but he doesn't believe in giving A's. The highest grade in my section was an A- (which 8 students got in the class), but it's easy to get a B/B+ for sure. Study outside class.
Brent is a unique. The course lectures can be somewhat long and boring but Brent adds his own touch of humour and personal experiences which makes it more enjoyable. This prof loves teaching and is there for his students. Go to class, don't cram until the final week, and you'll do well in his class!
Don't think twice, just take him, he's the best!
AMAZING TAKE HIM. He is an inspirational man and will help you. GIVES YOU HINTS DURING CLASS FOR MIDTERM
Very well organized and provides timely feedback on quizzes and and the midterm. He often starts class with an educational video that is relevant to the course material he is about to teach during a given class. Student participation is greatly encouraged. Although he is a tough grader, just put in a bit of effort and you should do just fine.
TAKE HIM!!! don't think twice!!!! amazing prof, keeps your attention during lectures, is very clear in the way he wants things and he is always there when you need help. you can do really well int his class but you do have to study its not an "easy A".
The best teacher at Concordia. If you even have a chance to take a class with them, take it!!
He goes off topic every single class and he is a tough grader. You can tell he doesnt want to give anyone A's whether that is for a test or project. If you're looking for a loaf class take him. If you want a fair grader, look elsewhere.
He is an amazing prof! Cares for his students and jokes around, really helps you understand the material. Makes mistakes while grading so be careful. Never gives A's, so he's a tough grader. However, I learned so much from him about marketing and so many other things. You have a friend for life with this guy.
Learn extra useful things and tips in life, the course content is straightforward but attending class is useful for real life reference and deeper explanation. Understanding is better than cramming for a better grade. He was nice and genuine, very straightforward. Thanks Brent.
Loved class with Brent; so funny, uses real life examples and made going to an 8:30 am class on Fridays worth it. Doesn't give A's but teaches you a lot and is a fair grader. He also corrects exams really fast and is easy to get in touch with outside of class. Super nice guy, I would definitely take a class with him again.
the most amazing professor i have taken in my 2+ years at concordia. Knowledgable, fair. i learned more with hi in 1 semester than in my academic career!
Compassionate and caring prof. Easy quizzes, group project was long but you get a well deserved grade. Hilarious lectures, midterm was easy. The final (not written by him) was unnecessarily hard, read the book, know the examples and attend the lectures and you will get an A.
Brent is one of the best teachers I have ever had. You have to take him. It's that kind of teacher who's in his 60s but wants you to call him by his first name. Only bad thing about him is that he doesn't give As easily (out of a hundred of students, I'd say only 5 got As). So if you only want As for your GPA, don't take him. But he's worth the B.
One of the most inspirational and "real" educators I have ever had. If you ever have the chance, sit in his class and listen to his advice on life. While his style of lecturing may or may not be for everyone, his advice comes from the heart and he teaches beyond the textbook. A true gem of an educator.
Brent is hands down one of the best profs I've had at Concordia. I am so glad I had the chance to have him because he's an awesome man! Very knowledgable, gives amazing real life advice and he's also hilarious which is a plus. If you have the chance to take Brent, do not think twice! You won't regret it!
EXCELLENT PROFESSOR
He's one of the best profs I had. Emails are always answer same day. Gives very good feedback. He's a bit on the tougher side when it comes to marking but the course has no exams and is simply weekly synthesis with two papers due at the end of the semester. I can honestly say that Pearce's class is one of the few that actually had an effect on me.
Honestly don't know why this guy has so many positive reviews. He only talks about about himself and repeats the same stories every week without realizing it and he makes such an easy class hard for no particular reason. Avoid at all costs!
I had them for a summer class Mark 201. Hilarious guy!! You cant fall asleep in his class you just cant!!! Hes so interesting. Hes very straight into the point and he gives you a lot of tips and ideas for the midterms/finals. Only downside was my group paper, he was a tough marker when it came to the paper. I defs recommend him
Brent was an incredible professor. Even through zoom he was able to teach incredibly well and was so helpful whenever I had questions. He cares so much about his students and it shows. If you can take him, DO IT!
best teacher at concordia
He's a decent prof and a very tough grader.
