open book midterm and finals for this class, but without fail he'll put you to sleep, boring as hell! janis is better
Nice prof ~! willing to help , trying to make the lecture more interesting~!
What an eager guy! Passionate about operations management and hopes everyone feels the same way. Completely adorable!
He is really passionate about the subject matter and knows his stuff. It might be a little boring at times but he does as best as he can to make the material interesting.
loves what he's teaching. He's a nice guy and helpful on the assignments
Brent was great. He made the class interesting with class excersizes. Was a great help out of class aswell. He obviously loves what he does, and it shows in the job he is doing.
Awesome guy! Although the material is dead boring, he makes it fun, either by letting us laugh at him, or making some messed up joke provoking some laughter. Always available for your help, and it doesn't hurt to have other people not show up in his OH. Great great prof, had a blast.
Helpful, nice and well organized. I like his way of teaching and I am sad I missed taking the OPMA with him.
nice guy... good prof... but BORING class
He made OPMA as interesting as it could be, he is a nice guy and is pretty helpful. The class can get a little dry at times, but he does his best to make it interesting.
Great teacher. Material was boring, but he was interesting. Needs to quit talking about his wife though...let a girl dream would ya!!
what a boring class, but brent is as good as a prof as you can ask for, the only problem i have with him is he is condescending and patronizing sometimes
he is SO cute, too bad he has a kid and a wife. But he made going to this kinda boring class worthwile. When you have to take opma, he is THE prof to have, especially for all the girls!

Brent's sarcasm factor is what makes this class fun to attend. He gives you enough flexibility on the final project to have fun with it and get a little creative. Uses games and activities to make material easier to remember. Generally a nice guy but does have the ability to make you feel small when you don't catch on right away.
Brent is a really great instructor. Besides being hot, he really knows his stuff and explains it really well. He ultimately convinced me to switch my major from marketing. If you have to take OPMA, definately take it with Brent.
Are you kidding me? Hot?....... classic typical average nasty u of c girl, Brent is a nice guy but sort of a dork. Notes are just straight text copy. don't bother buying book or going to class, just memorize notes from class and figure out the simple math problems and it will be fine
What a sick beauty. Nicest guy around, and made some of the dullest content interesting. Super funny, and explains everything with real world examples that make concepts make more sense. The content is fairly easy, but theres alot of it, so don't underestimate the midterms or final!
Had B-snid for a few classes, he could be one of the best profs in Haskayne, you never have to buy the classes text book, i would strongly recommend
He's a good teacher, very intelligent and quite organized. He's definitely dorky. I only read chapter 5 of the text... so i could fall asleep. (Yes, it worked). I recommend and would give him full marks, but not the best prof at haskayne.
This class is really interesting, but not as easy as it appears. The group projects are not that bad and dont take up a lot of time but they can be tricky. Multiple choice questions on the tests are beyond tricky but the written usually will bring your grade up, you need to study for this class. Brent is super funny
A very clear prof, does a great job of making otherwise boring pp slides interesting, you do not need to buy the text book; didn't even touch it once
Brent is dreamy. As he teaches you about queing, and preaches the power of Dell's business model, all you will be able to do is smile and nod as you drift off to sleep - where you will dream only of him.
Good prof. interesting and helpful. No need to get a textbook. Go over the power points and u r ready to go. If u have to take this course, take it with him.
Brent is a good prof. He is interesting, knowledgeable, and funny. The classes were fairly entertaining and the assignments helped you understand theory. The class and assignments were interactive. Brent made what I figured would be a boring class into one with value. He is also quite good looking which was an added bonus.
Brent's a pretty good prof. He's easy-going, helpful, and clearly tries his best to make the course interesting. The hands-on activities/assignments effectively show some of the OPMA concepts work. He tells a lot of jokes, and seems to be a Toyota fanboy.
Brent is an awesome instructor! His lectures are enjoyable and he always finds a way to make dry material seem fun and interesting. If you have the option, take an OPMA course with him, you will not be disappointed.
Definitely recommend taking courses with him! He describes concepts really well and his exams are very straightforward--not intended to trick you. Group assignments take up a good chunk of your marks so make sure you pick a good group!
Great prof, easy class. Recommended.
Amazing instructor! Knows his stuff well and genuinely cares about his students. Easily the best instructor at Haskayne; I wouldn't take OPMA 317 with anyone else.
A great overall instructor and a nice guy. Take this class with him, and do not waste your money on the textbook.
He might have knowledge BUT he is not a good teacher at all. he is not agood communicator. He might have steal material from some American University. Not recommended to take this course.
If I could give him a 6 for clarity I would.
Easily one of the best professors I've ever had. Crystal clear, thoughtful and chill. PS - His expectations in 407 were *quite* a bit higher than in 317.
Pound for pound, this is a practical course, and Brent is the one to teach it -- starts simple and builds things up. Definitely my favorite 317 and 317 instructor. Key take away: "prevent what you know will happen"
He's a nice guy, I thought lectures were boring as hell though. At least Brent makes jokes and I must admit he can be pretty funny. I didn't care for the course at all
Approachable, friendly, and helpful if you have any questions. In typical Snider fashion, the simulation was interesting/engaging and the lecture material was very boring. Lots of in-class activities; going to lectures is recommended. Exams were not difficult, and were fairly marked. Textbook use was minimal. Highly recommended, especially for 407
The course material is practical. the prof is knowledgeable and funny!
Good prof, interested in the subject matter, nice guy too.
Very enthusiastic. Very organized and understandable. Just pay attention.
He was organized, had good notes, and taught it well (it wasn't a hard course though). He seemed approachable and nice, but when you asked questions he made you feel dumb ... like you weren't paying attention or something. Don't underestimate the exams!
the BEST prof in Haskayne..possibly the U of C. Helpful, approachable and makes class interesting. Made me switch my major to opma. Exams and assignments are fair, he has your best interests at heart. He's also good looking and passionate about what he teaches. I wish he was the coordinator for every course at Haskayne.
Quite possibly the best professor at the U of C. An incredible teacher and public speaker. He's worked in industry, and he really knows his stuff, and he's young and accomplished so much and damn, a good looking dude to boot. The complete package. Don't take this class with anyone else.
Just because Brent is better than all the other professors who teach OPMA 317 doesn't mean he's a good proff. His lectures were tolerable but he basically had them pre-rehearsed every class. He wasn't able to answer questions well and would explain the concept in the same way again. Although, he was entertaining and gave examples from his life.
I've taken 3 OPMA classes with him and he is definitely the best prof in haskayne. 411 is a really tough class but he was very helpful throughout. About the class: course is based on one giant project with a real-world client, no textbook, meet in class once a month, weekly meetings with prof and client, optional case comp at the end of term
Brent is easily one of the best profs I have had in university to date. His lectures are clear, interesting, and full of real world examples. He is genuinely interested in helping his students understand the material. Exams and assignments are based solely on the PowerPoint notes. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Very funny and enthusiastic guy. Lectures are easy to understand and his life experience stories are always fun to hear.
WOW. Incredible prof. Enthusiastic, and ORGANIZED. It is so refreshing to have a professor who sticks to timelines, clearly presents material, uses engaging, and real life examples, and actually knows how to turn on the projector. The material is easy enough, but going to class really solidifies the concepts.
This guy is really condecending... Although he has an easy course and the course was easy, asking him anything personally results in an answer of him just repeating a question! How is this guy even a professor?!
Really, REALLY nice! Answers questions with the answer you need to hear, not what you want to hear. Made the class interactive (with "games") which helped with understanding concepts. Would take any class this man teaches.
Class is pretty easy if you show up and pay attention. Brent is pretty clear about what needs to be done. Definately one of the easier 317s
Midterm, Final and three assignments. Great class as long as you get a good group for the assignments. Easy B but you have to work harder for an A
This guy deserves a 6 for clarity and being extremely organized. Makes OPMA INTERESTING with lots of stories (mainly Toyota)and interactive games. So nicely taught that he makes you want to switch majors to OPMA!!
Crazy awesome prof. Would recommend to anyone. So unbelievably organized. I thought operations would be boring but after taking the class I was seriously considering majoring in it. Such a great prof.
Brent snider is the best prof I've had so far! I wish I could take all of my classes with him! I have nothing bad to say about him or the class. He is funny, enthusiastic, the tests are very fair, he gets grades back super fast, his lectures are very organized and he gives you all the notes you need! Don't have to go to class, but I always do!
Class is extremely well organized, instructions are crystal clear and overall his lectures were very interesting. The group projects are pretty easy but the midterm was trickier than I thought. Anyhow, if you're going to take OPMA 317 this is the guy. One of the best profs I had at U of C.
This class made me consider switching my major to OPMA! Brent is really knowledgable and helpful. He genuinely cares about his students and wants them to do well. Very enthusiastic and makes class material interesting. His tests are fair, and if you study there's no reason why you won't do very well.
Brent is an exceptional professor, with some of the most engaging lectures you'll ever attend. He ensures that students do reasonably well in his class. Only downside is that there is no way to rate the group members randomly assigned to you. We had a deadweight in our group, who ended up getting the same assignment grade as the rest of us.
This guy had some of the most engaging and interesting lectures i have ever attended. Definitely worth going to class. Fair grader, assignments and tests weren't too tough. One of the best profs at Haskayne hands down!
One of the best professors at the UofC. He genuinely cares about presenting the material in the best way possible so students can understand. His lectures are often very interesting because he ties in a lot of real world examples. Show up to class and you shouldn't have trouble doing well.
Brent is a fantastic prof. The best I've had at UofC. Expectations are clearly laid out, and the class is fun from day 1. He doesn't go over the syllabus, instead he starts with a fun exercise. Exams are pretty much like the practice ones. He's a fantastic prof and I wouldn't hesitate to take another class with him.
Brent is wonderful. Take OPMA 317 with him for sure! He makes everything pretty care. Tests aren't bad at all, but you do have to somewhat study for them. I would definitely take another class with him!
Really appreciated how hard Brent worked to make sure all students in the class understood what he was talking about. Always willing to answer your questions, so make sure you ask if anything is unclear at all! A genuinely good guy who cares about his students and wants the best for your future if you're willing to put in the effort.
Brent is one of the best profs I've ever had. Highly suggest buying the course notes at the start as he uses these to have you fill stuff in. Assignments are easy and midterm is fair (71% average). Really makes you want to take more OPMA classes, super interesting.
I learned so much in this class and will definitely take more OPMA classes because of Brent. He really knows his stuff and utilizes OPMA principles in his daily life. Turnaround time for the midterm mark was about 15 hours after we finished. Lectures are very interesting and he has lots of great stories from to go along with his lectures.
Brent is an amazing teacher! I'm not so sure I would have liked OPMA if it hadn't been for him. His instructions are always clear and there are some interesting activities such as the beer game.
Go to classes- his lectures are amazing and you will understand everything at the end of class. Looking over his notes are enough to ace the exam! Written portion is usually easier than the MC (some questions might trick you)
Brent is a world-class educator. He came to school at 6:30 in the morning to let me review my midterm exam. Very friendly inside and outside the classroom.
Make sure you take a course with Brent! He is a super nice guy, in and out of the classroom. The tests are literally straight out of the lectures, I got almost 100% on the final just from memorizing definitions in the slide show. Get to know him and he will also write you a really awesome reference letter!
Great prof! Clear and interesting lectures. Very good speaker.
What an amazing prof! Best I've had in 4 yrs at UofC. Made me actually want to wake up for 8am's. Classes are fun and interesting. Go & you will instantly understand everything! Switched my major to OPMA after taking 317 with him and 407 was just as good! Learned alot. Never thought I'd dread finishing a class! If only Brent taught all OPMAs...
Swear this guy could teach linear algebra and still find a way to make it interesting!! He'll have you excited to learn. Amazing lectures. Funny. Approachable. VERY clear (a scarce quality @ Haskayne). Exams are easy as long as you go to class. Dude isn't bad to look at either. The whole package! Take a class with him - you'll be glad you did!!!!!
Brent is the best professor I have had in my four years of University. Two classes into OPMA 317, Brent had me convinced that Operation management was the concentration for me. He is clear, concise, super nice and is very intelligent. I highly recommend taking classes with Brent.
Best prof I've had at Haskayne. This guy explains concepts so clearly, and with so many examples, that just going to class guarantees you'll do well. Buy his notes package at the start of the year and buy the AIMO exam package as well. These will help greatly when you're studying for the midterm, which was an easy exam with no surprises. Great prof
This class is an easy B, exams are actually kinda hard making it difficult to get an A. Brett is a nice guy and is willing to give you help should you need it. He makes your groups and the assignments are not that difficult. Study all the slides and practice exams to prepare for tests. Textbook not needed. The supply game thing was time wasting lol
He is such a good prof. He makes a dull class interesting. Really engaging and lets the students learn stuff for themselves that way there's less listening/ falling asleep and more learning the materials. The Midterm and Final aren't necessarily easy, but it's pretty standard.
Brent is a great prof. You'll enjoy his class if you're a hands on learner as he does a lot of in-class activity as oppose to just him talking for the whole lecture. He cares deeply about your feedback which is pretty rare in uni profs these days. Downside is the MC in the exams are a bit more challenging than the examples in class.
Great professor, provides extremely helpful class exercises. The hardest part was the midterm so make sure you prepare well for the multiple choice.
Brent is by the far the best professor I have had at Haskayne. Lectures are awesome and very interesting as he ties almost every concept to the real world which is quite rare from what I have experienced in my degree. Truly cares about his students and wants you to pick a career that you are passionate about. Great role model!
Best prof in U of C.
Brent's a gem. He is really good at explaining class concepts, and tries his best to keep it entertaining. Funny guy and there are no surprises in the assignments and tests.
Really great prof. Although I didn't enjoy the class itself and found it a bit hard he probably taught it as best as anyone can
Brent keeps lectures very interesting, however he is a little intimidating during his office hours. He also gives out tons of bonus marks. The lecture slides are sufficient notes to study from and he only tests on material taught in class. The midterm and final are pretty easy, and the assignments get easier as the term goes on.
Brent is the reason why many people began considering OPMA as their major. He does an amazing job at promoting the concentration (despite being an accountant). His lectures are very fast paced, but interesting and engaging. His explanations and expectations are crystal clear. The group work and written part of the exams are of fair difficulty.
He is pretty great as a prof and as a person he is very approachable and is always willing to help. He does go quite fast for the concepts he's explaining but also gives a lot of examples. Brent asks for feedback so he can improve but then seems to argue against each advice given. Overall he tries to help and teach in an effective way.
He makes the class interesting compared to other business courses and seems nice but does not round grades at all, even if you're off by 0.05% to the next letter grade so beware of that.
Avoid OPMA 407 in block week with Brent. He gives long tests with only one night to absorb what would be 1.5 months of course work so its nearly impossible to do well on the tests. Went to his office hours and found him arrogant and unwilling to help. Definitely wouldn't take a course with him again.
Great professor who's constantly wanting the students to engage in activities. His activities are well thought out and provide relevant concepts to the course. Couldn't imagine this course being taught any better.
Brent is one of the best profs i have had. The guy is so passionate about what he teaches and makes his lectures interesting with games, videos, etc. Also gives a couple opportunities for extra credit which never hurts. Like any class you need to put in work to get a good grade, but overall would highly recommend.
Brent is amazing. He clearly explains topics and provides many good examples. He made this class so enjoyable and honestly fun to go to due to his enthusiasm and wealth of knowledge. Cant say enough good things about this guy. Take the class with him. You wont regret it!
Toughest grader. Went to office hours multiple times and was just rude. Expects way too much from assignments and docks marks for the smallest things even though he agrees that your answer is right. Good presenting skills during class.
Brent did a really good job of explaining concepts and using real world examples to show what we were learning actually had an application in the real world. The class notes package and exam prep package were useful in this course.
Brent is the wind beneath my wings. His lectures are amazing and he makes the content engaging by including games and real life examples. Highly recommend taking this course with him. 10/10 i love u brent
His voice is mellifluous and his teachings should be carved onto the walls of the University of Calgary. Highly highly recommend. You will be able to watch him implement course concepts into his own class. He is able to make material engaging with his bright smile. This class was the highlight of my University Life. He managed me so well.
Easiest Haskayne course by far. I laughed bigly when on the last assignment some group got a 40%. You would have to try extremely hard to get a poor grade. Like how 4 people in one group managed to get an F is utterly laughable. So is anyone that rates this a 5.0 difficulty.
One of the best profs I've ever had. His teaching style in great and keeps students engaged. Everything is fair and clear, and although tests can be a little tough and assignments a little confusing-- Brent will go out of his way to clarify any of your concerns! Great class, great prof, 10/10 would recommend
He teaches well and makes lectures interesting. He's really helpful if you go in and talk to him in office hours. The midterm is a lot harder than in class stuff and he doesn't give very many practice questions. The assignments are marked pretty harsh and they take marks off for small mistakes.
Very knowledgable and explains concepts very well. Lectures are interesting and material is very relevant. Exams can be challenging, but are definitely fair. Assignments are also very fair, so I don't know what some other people are talking about. If you go to class, you should be fine.
Brent has some amazing lectures. He is really good at conveying the material in class and makes it so you don't really have to study for the midterm and final. Those ppt packages sold at the beginning is a waste of money as Brent will post the slide deck after he goes through them. Do buy the practice midterm and final.
He is approachable and willing to help. Cracks jokes during class which makes the class fun. The way he teaches the material is very clear and easy to understand. The games that he has you play during class are worth showing up for, you learn a lot.
I would highly recommend going to class they are not mandatory because we just go over the powerpoint but Brent explains it so well its really useful. As well as make sure you study for the midterm and final because they are trickier than expected you really have to know everything. Also make is necessary to go to extra credit game he gives.
Quality of instruction low. Self promotion high. Would not reccomend or take another course with Brent. Found to be arrogant during office hour sessions.
Not sure what to say about Brent. All of his reviews are positive, but his lectures were hard to follow and he was difficult to interact with during office hours (by this I mean he was rude and dismissive). I don't buy his nice guy image because I've taken 2 classes with him. Just my honest opinion.
Ive never rated a prof before, but decided to come on here and give Brent a rating. He is very enthusiastic and caring. His lectures are super interactive and informative, and he sets his expectations very clearly. He is very helpful, funny, and attentive to the students. You don't need to attend the lectures, but if you go you will learn lots!
Brent is super funny and has engaging lectures. He is always available after class to answer any questions. His course notes make it easy to follow along in class and pay attention. 3 group projects worth 10% each make it easy to boost your grade. Brent does the math questions with you and makes it easy to follow along. He is a great prof!
Great class, well taught and not overly difficult. If you attend the lectures you will do well in the course.
Brent tells you exactly what you need to know and preps you well for the exams
One of the best professors in Haskayne!!! He is well organized and very helpful in his office hours
An absolute weapon. Coming from a non-operations major Brent made this class one I was excited to attend. Towards the end of the semester, there wasn't a seat available in his lectures 10 mins prior to start. Great dude.
Brent's ok. Felt like he's a bit overhyped but he's not bad. Lectures slides are great, don't bother getting the textbook. You'll do great with his slides. Class material is pretty dry, but the real life examples he gives are great.
If you just go to class and actually do the assignments without letting your group do it all so that you learn , you're bound for a decent grade. I just went and sat and listened to him, didn't even take notes. He makes connections in your head you won't even realize are happening. Some people find the math portion in this class a little tricky.
Brent was one of the best Haskayne profs Ive ever had. Hes very approachable and always willing to help. His lectures and course material are super detailed as well as interesting with the use of real world examples. Midterm was definitely harder than the final.
Brent is a great prof who cares. If you have a chance to take a course with him do it!
Brent is a total beauty if you have to take OPMA 317 make sure you take it with Brent. He is hilarious and probably the most outgoing profs I've ever had. The assignments are pretty easy but require a lot of work but if you start on them early and you'll be fine. The midterm is BRUTAL but the final is really straight forward.
Brent makes a somewhat boring course into a really interesting one, like I'm considering switching major right now. He ties his examples into real-life scenarios. Although intimidating in his office hours, he certainly has a good knowledge of this subject.
Brent is great, take him if you can! He cares about what he's teaching and it makes lectures much more interesting. He ties the lectures to real-life examples to help you better understand the topics. Super easy-going and caring, one of the better profs!
Brent is a nice guy overall. I emailed him a total of two times this semester and I never got a response. He will tell you that you don't need the textbook and that the examples given in class are enough. The design of the final exam does not support his claim at all. The questions are meant to trick you. I wish I bought the text and taught myself.
He never ever email you back like never! My group and I sent him a few emails regarding the group assignments and he totally ignored them, we ended up emailing other prof from other lecture for our questions. This is unacceptable given that the class in online, he needs to be at least available through email. His tests are tricky and unfair.
he was really passionate about teaching and making the course apply to the real world. he definitely wants his students to succeed and is very easy-going. if you do his examples in class and do some practice, youre golden.
Took OPMA 317 with Brent in fall 2020. He was engaging and enthusiastic when lecturing. He ties in real world examples to the class concepts to show us why it's important. Would really recommend taking OPMA 317 with Brent, however the tests can be a bit difficult since they are application type questions so be sure to understand the concepts.
Brent is an amazing prof. He is so passionate about what he is teaching. His lectures are amazing and he uses so many real world examples. He explains everything so well and is super organized. I definitely recommend taking one of his classes!
Brent was great, very passionate about the material. Graded only by tough midterm, final and two easy group assignments.
He is friendly and answers questions. His lectures have a lot of slides and notes to go through, so I recommend you bring a drawing tablet. There are group projects. His exams are somewhat tricky so be prepared for that. He uses the textbook for practice questions which of course is optional, or you can purchase a booklet of questions as well.
Brent is possibly one of the best teachers I have had so far. His lectures are really fun and interesting and made me seriously consider to change my major to operations. Highly HIGHLY recommend him!!
Best OPMA 317 PROF !!!
Lots of real life examples and great explanations. He is really helpful in answering questions and helping with group assignments during office hours. I would take a class with him again
I had a terrible group for the group assignments which sucked because the midterm was also challenging so I'm probably going to have to take this class again but Brent is a very good professor and I would highly recommend him.
Was extremely passionate and organized throughout his lectures which made them highly engaging.
Brent makes the content engaging and applies all of the content to real life examples. Grade is just based on 2 assignments, a midterm, and final so it is difficult to do well if you have a bad group or aren't a good test taker. Overall, Brent made the content enjoyable and almost convinced me to major in OPMA.
Great, engaging lectures that tied back to the real world. Grades are heavily focused on the two exams, but you can do well on the exams if you keep up with the course concepts. Group assignments are best treated as individual assignments (and not extremely time consuming), just check with the rest of your group members on the answers.
Overall he is an easy professor. However, I've found that he doesn't reply to emails as much, made him inaccessible for some questions I had. What makes it worse is that he sends the whole class emails which just proves that he ignores your emails.
Brent is amazing. All the content is in his lectures, its really easy to do well if you participate and put in the effort. He's also very engaging and uses real life scenarios frequently to give you an understanding of where OPMA applies. Definitely take OPMA with Brent.
Mostly teaches from slides which are terrible, doesn't respond to email, lectures drag on, really old boring teaching methods. Avoid at all cost.
Brent is an amazing professor. He knows what he's teaching and how to teach well. Very organized and efficient (haha get it cause OPMA) and easy to understand. Funny and engaging lectures with many resources available. Helpful feedback and caring personality. Definitely going to take another class with him.
Lots of content to get through but it is taught in a very structured manner. Textbook and slides go together very well and tests are a very fair representation of practice questions.
Brent's lectures have been the clearest and most well thought out of any university class I've ever taken. His concepts build in a way that make incredible sense, despite the unfamiliar and sophisticated subject matter. His delivery is exceptionally clear, as are his slides and reference material, and run at just the right pace. Fantastic prof.
Brent is a fantastic professor. His exams and assignments are very fair, and refreshingly generous in the time, support and prep tools given. He is a humble, walking wealth of knowledge from countless industries and experiences, committed to putting the learning of his students above all else.
Incredible teacher! Very organized, balanced approach to lectures (examples, speaking, group/individual work), innovative assignments, fantastic energy! Would highly recommend this course & Brent as a prof.
Very relevant content presented in a highly engaging format. I thoroughly enjoyed Brent's class, so much so that I would go home, sit my partner down afterwards to share the material with him. His exam was challenging but fair. I would higly recommend Brent's classes.
I have enjoyed the lecture time and assignments, real world relevance in class examples has been great
Brent uses every day and real operations examples to communicate. Never a dull moment in class, always prepared and considerate. His knowledge of the subject of operations is broad and profound as he combines his personal experience in operations and in-class learning delivery to lecture students.
The course is taught in a very structured and organized manner. The contents are very relevant and up-to-date. There are many real life examples and news articles, which makes the course very engaging. The exam difficulties are as expected.
This guy needs to teach every other professor how to run a university course. He is the best professor at UofC. Delivers course content in a way that keeps you engaged. Workload for the class is not too heavy. He is a beauty and is what I would say is a perfect professor.
Brent needs to teach the entire BCOMM degree as his lectures were amazing. He provides extra credit but its too much effort for a little bump up in grades. The tests are extremely fair and the group assignment is also very easy. You just have to practise his slides and you should be good. The only downside is that he barely responds to this email.
Easily the best prof i have had in business so far. Super clear on his teaching methods and his lectures were memorable.
Doesn't respond to emails, isn't clear with expectations and is rude to students.
Exams make no sense, powerpoint is dated and useless, doesn't have a book yet his slides don't cover all the material enough to prepare for his test. Really setup students for failure.
The only way I would consider taking another opma class is if Brent was the professor. He is hands down one of the most organized professors I have ever had and makes learning the concepts so easy. If you come to class there is no way you have to spend tons of time studying even for big exams. Marks efficiently and gives great feedback.
Brent is an awesome professor! His expectations are super clear and I love the fill in the blank slides. The in-class activities are super helpful for assignments and exams.
Brent is an amazing professor. His lectures are engaging and the activities are fun and informative. Will definitely be looking to get him in another class.
Brent is an all around stud. He keeps his classes interesting with different activities and simulations. His lectures keep me zoned in for an entire hour and 15 minutes and that is no easy task. Just a great guy who loves to teach his material and is passionate for it.
great teaching through examples, should attend the lecture. Just a really good professor who can actually teach
Brent is by far the worst prof I've had and I'm glad I will never be in his class again. He has slides that don't have any content on them and yet he won't use a textbook so studying for exams won't be easy. His grading is inconsistence, if you ask him a question he will be rude and condescending. If you send him an email he won't respond.
Brent himself is ok, some of his content is really good and some of it puts you to sleep. His PIE activities are great, the only thing that truly sucks is the group projects. Would rather the exams were weighted higher than having the projects. Make sure you pay attention to all the random examples he has in class because they come up on exams.
Brent Snider is the best professor/teacher I have had at any level of schooling. He made every class engaging to attend and never included anything on tests that wasn't discusses in class. He went over the assignments clearly and set you up to succeed with those and with the exams. I would not listen to any negative reviews of him posted here.
Brent is iconic his lectures are interesting and he is clearly passionate about what he does. He is very transparent about expectations. He is the only prof who made me WANT to go to class because it was enjoyable. If you go to lectures and participate you will be able to do well. Actually a king 10/10
Brent IS OPMA 317. He's very passionate about making this course a great intro to the operations & supply chain major and it shows. He practices what he preaches about operational efficiency: lectures are highly organized and always on time, and they even returned written midterm marks within 18 hours. PIE activities were great too
The best professor in Haskayne! His lectures are so interesting and well formatted and he gives clear instructions for all assignments and exams. I truly understood the content and he made me want to come to class every week. I can't say enough good things about him!
This is the worst professor in Haskyne. So rude and unprofessional. Never care about you even if you failed many times. I asked him for some clarification many times and he responded rudely to me as if I was not paying attention purposely. I am paying this professor too much for nothing. Never recommendedddd.
Brent Snider gives the most well formated, timely, and engaging lectures. Mixing in his personal/career experiences in an elegant way that adds to every lecture. Best prof ever?
One of the best professors I have ever had. He is not easy to reach outside of class but he explains everything really well and if you listen in class you should be fine for the exams. Definitely take OPMA with Brent.
I really enjoyed attending Brent's classes. He was enthusiastic and his slides are really good and organized. Lots of examples and real world applications and class activities helped understand content even better. Show up to class and practice youll do well. Midterm was fair. Assignments are fair just take time and make sure to read slides
Great prof, if you attend lectures and somewhat pay attention, you don't even have to take notes and you'll do fine.
This is the professor you want for OPMA, he is knowledgeable and an excellent lecturer
Brent was great! The assignments were pretty clear and not too bad to finish either since they were group assignments. The lectures were fun because he added some real-life experience in there too but the exams were a bit tough so you need to practice a lot for it but the exam booklets helped a lot. Overall fun prof and engaging lectures!
Best OPMA prof you will find! Brent is passionate, and speaks with Operations experience and throws in relevant stories when talking abut content. He sets you up to succeed if you are willing to study and put in the effort!!
Brent is an engaging professor who brings real-world experience to the lectures. The workload is manageable if you attend class and utilize resources like the free textbook and unstuckstudy for study prep. Overall, a solid OPMA course.
Hard class goes through content really fast.exams are difficult
Not good because exam is too hard
Exams too hard
Brent is super passionate about operations and supply chain management, making lectures super engaging and interesting. Lots of real world examples and personal experiences included to solidify understanding of topics. Not very many deliverables in the course but exams were difficult and assignments were graded harshly.
It is a super interesting class with great lectures. There are only four assessments, two tests, and two group assignments, so the workload is very reasonable. The exams are not easy, but if you do ample practice from the textbook and review package, you'll do well. Brent is an awesome professor and teaches this course great!
Very good prof. He has lot's of experience prior to teaching, and he does a great job using his stories to give real world examples of topics discussed in class.
Brent is a really engaging professor and a super eloquent speaker. I personally liked the way he made the lectures easy to understand through videos, real-life examples, and group exercises. Exams were a little difficult but fair. Doing the assignments thoroughly are a great way to prep for the exams. Awesome prof overall!!
His exams are very hard, and he refuses to curve or round people. He only offers 3 bonus marks which barely makes a dent in one's grade. I was so close to passing this class at a D+ which easily could have been rounded to a C- but he didn't want to help me. This is the only Haskayne course I've had to re-take because of him.
There are very few professors that will take on 4 lecture sections and be able to connect to every single one. Genuinely, GENUINELY, one of the most inspirational professors I've had and seriously makes me want to major in OPMA from how awesome his lectures are. Please just pay attention during lecture and I promise you will love the class.
Prof Snider is an absolute legend and makes the classes fun but my god are the exams tough, I don't know my final grade but chances are I'll have to take this class again unfortunately- so be prepared for exams but otherwise fun class and great prof.
dont know what people are talking about saing his exams are hard, as long as you study the material youre good he never tests on things that werent in the lecture. even without going to the lecture youd be fine he literally posts all the complete slides for us to learn from. one of the best profs ive had so far
Brent is an amazing professor, the lectures are detailed and carefully planned, arguably one of the best and most organized profs i have had so far. The exams are a little tough, but with practice its possible to do amazing.Take this class with Brent, you wont regret it at all :)
Can't say enough good things about brent. One of the best profs I have had, his lectures are incredibly straight forward and the tests only cover whatever he talks about in lectures. Exams are definitely a little tough but as long as you prepare accordingly you'll be fine. Genuinely enjoyed attending his class.
Exceptional teacher, incredibly engaging and the topics taught are incredibly intuitive to understand after he teaches them.
The first time I am writing a review about a teacher. Brent was phenomenal. I've heard bad things about this class but he made opma a blast. I never skipped a class which was unlike me as Brent always made it engaging and put care into his work and what his students were learning. He knows how to present it well and efficiently.
Worst prof there is , doesn't care about his students at all no wonder a lot of people dropped
Honestly its just sad how they make the courses so difficult. I thought this class was going to be alright. It was so hard.
difficult class
GO TO CLASS. VERY GOOD PROF
Do not take his class … believes everyone cheats and takes it out on students, negative.
Tests can be a bit tricky as he words things in a misleading way. However, he overall is a great prof, engages with students, comprehensive lectures, concise slides, if you have him consider yourself lucky. There is never a dull moment in that class
tests are wayyyyyy harder than anything done in class - seem hard for absolutely no reason. his lectures are interesting and easy to understand which makes you think you understand the concept and can do well but tests are unreasonably difficult and he seems to not actually care about students.
This class is more difficult than most Haskayne classes, but is in my opinion one of the best taught classes in Haskayne. Fun lectures, interesting projects, and fair exams.
The exams in my opinion were fair and straightforward to study using the slides. I found that the written portion of the exams were harder than the assignment. The classes pretty consistent and didn't feel like I was drowning in content towards right before exams. I would recommend anyone to take OPMA 317 with Brent Snider; he's a great prof.
He's super helpful and very professional in class. His lectures are a bit boring sometimes but has lots of good examples and in class exercises for students to practice in groups. The midterm and final were pretty fair and similar to group assignments. He also gives heads up for upcoming trips. But I don't recommend buying a midterm/final practice.
Terrible professor. While the lectures were He is dismissive rude Thinks all the students are cheating on the assignment. Boring lectures.
Favourtie class ive taken so far he convinced me to be a supply chain major
Brent taught with passion, making this class not boring. It was my favourite class of the semester, making me consider changing my major. Since only 4 things are worth marks it's hard to do well if you do badly on one of these things, but overall, I would suggest all students take this class with Brent.
One of the best profs I've had at Haskayne. His lectures are so easy to follow
I am three weeks into this class but I had to come on and give a review. He is amazing and his lectures are actually engaging. Compared to most profs, you actually feel like he teaches you useful information. So refreshing compared to all the other terrible Haskayne and specifically finance profs!
Awesome prof, friendly guy. The thing that's great about him is that he actually worked in OPMA and knows a lot about business and operations management. It's definitely hard to get an A in this class, but if you show up to every class, you will learn enough to get a B without studying (IN MY OPINION)
If you ask him a question he is always so rude and unhelpful. He has this stupid rule where you have to get an average of 55% on both exams which is only a thing in HIS class. His lectures are quite boring as well. Really his biggest problem is how rude he is to students I'm not to sure why he's rated so high.
GO TO HIS LECTURES. They are very engaging and he shows how operations or supply chain can be applied to the real world. In class activities were fun and helpful.
Brent has the most engaging lectures in Haskayne. You have to show up to class because you learn so much, but you can flexibly go to any of the lecture times as it is the same content in each. This course is incredibly fair. If you show up and put in effort to study you will get a just grade. I have never learned this well in lectures, 11/10 prof!
He applies real world situation to what is being taught in class. Rather than just reading through a slide deck, he shows relatable material that helps us better understand the topic. All in all, he was really helpful and genuinely cared about the success in the students.Tests were a bit tough. He really knows how to teach. Never seen before.
He's great, the class structure is very clear and his lecture are engaging. Every time you may be confused and have a question, the next slide usually answers it. If not he's more than happy to explain after class or office hours. You really just have attend the classes and do some review on your own and you will do fine.
His exams can be difficult, and sometimes the grading criteria for assignments is somewhat unclear. However his lectures are some of the best, he genuinely takes the knowledge and plants it in your head just through lecture. Slides are very applicable to what students are tested on. Overall a nice professor and great at teaching, take opma with him
Honestly, he wasn't a great professor. The material he taught in class made sense, but his tests were unnecessarily difficult. When you went to him for feedback, he often responded in a very dismissive or sarcastic way.
He has background in the OPMA industry and is always connecting learning to the real world, which is something profs rarely do but is so important. Anyone who says he is rude or disrespectful is probably just asking stupid questions honestly. He expects critical thinking and preparation, don't waste his time with unnecessary questions. Great class!
Best prof I've had yet, talks pretty fast but you get used to it. People who complain about his demeanor were probably asking repetitive questions and holding up the line after lecture. Has real world experience which is very respectable, everything you would need to know on the exams is on the slides. Put some effort and you will do well!!
tests are insane and he is rude!
Brent puts so much effort into teaching. He is so engaging and his use of in-class activities and examples helps so much to understand concepts. My biggest piece of advice is to buy the exam packet.
