Do not take this teacher online. His review is nothing like his test. Don't make the mistake I did.
Nelson is an awesome teacher! He loves history and he makes it to where you want to learn more. His tests are EASY as long as you go to class and are interested. I highly recommend him.
I took him online. I stumbled in the beginning and thought I was doomed. I kept up with the material and wound up with an A. Very fair professor.
Amazing Professor! He LOVES History and you can tell. Funny, friendly, understanding, and reasonable. Be sure to take notes off ppoint for tests. You use the book sometimes. Not much homework, so be sure to do it all. Book report is easy, you pick the book. He WILL work with you as long as you let him know whats going on.
He is a very nice guy, he'll even let you sleep in class as long as you show up.
Sat in class everyday and listened to every word he had to say and amazingly enough, I had a slightly easier time because of it. Answer his questions in class or at least attempt to; he'll express interest in you and help you out if you show that you're invested in the class.
I really enjoyed professor Nelson's class. He is very nice and friendly and will work with you if you need it. I was able to understand his lectures and follow him easily.
Mr. Nelson is an amazing teacher. He is very clear on what he expects of us. He is always there to help you and responds to emails super fast. You can tell he genuinely cares for us and wants to see us succeed. You only take 3 tests and that includes the final. A few hw not much so just do it. Don't need txtbk a lot. Just show up & you're good!
The tests are fairly easy, easy if you listen to his lectures. He appreciates class participation and offers extra credit opportunities. He is a very nice guy and he looks his best when his beard is growing out! I would take him again if I could. Easy A if you do all your assignments!
If you're taking online because of a tight schedule i recommend him. Very nice and replies to emails fast. Just weekly discussions of 5 sentences and 3 tests including the final & a book report. Assigns a quiz of 30 questions before a major test & half of them appear on them. Over all a great professor and would take again.
Hands down my favorite professor! He gets so into his lectures and is very passionate about history. His tests are easy as long. As you show up to class. He replies quickly and is always willing to help you. He gives good feedback on papers and always wants you to do better. He is fun to talk to. I would take his class again in a heartbeat.
Prof. Nelson's lectures are great, very engaging. You won't be bored, no matter how dull the subject matter can be. Homework is light, and the tests are moderate. Participation in discussion is encouraged, and you'll get more out of the lesson than if you'd just sat there. He treats his students like adults.
Professor Nelson is my all-time favorite professor. He loves what he does, it's very easy to see his passion! He is very helpful too. If you read what he tells you to study, you'll make an A! He made me LOVE history.
I love this professor!! History was so fun this semester, I'm majoring in History and you can truly tell that he is passionate about what he does. I would take him again if I could!!! :)
If you come to class and take really good notes you will pass the class test are not to hard he lectures over everything that will be on the test he does not give reviews for any of his test attendance is a must to pass the class and you will need your book
He is very engaging and helpful. He gives chapter questions each week and if you do then you should be okay. You need the book to answer the chapter questions.
easy online class. Just what you need to get the class over with. You do need the book. It helps but he also has powerpoint presentations that show you all you need. Just do the work and pass. Not difficult
I took him for both History 1&2. He is an amazing professor, just take notes during the class and you won't have any issues passing. Bring a laptop if you have it, its a lot easier to just type the notes into the powerpoint. There are no tricks when it comes to his test, whats on the review is whats on the test. Be prepare to laugh a lot too.
A hilarious teacher that really cares about the subject he teaches and wants to see his students succeed. Do your weekly chapter questions and pay attention to the lectures and you'll be good to go. More than happy to derail a lecture to go over more in depth a certain topic or answer any questions a student might have. Definitely one of the best.
The first time that I took HIST II with other prof. I failed it with Mr. Bret I got a B! he can grab your attention during class not like others, he gives homework that is easy plus you learn from it, homework on time is a must! great on grating and very nice person I would totally take his class again
Prof Nelson is a pretty nice guy and a little dorky. I find history to be boring, but he makes it easy to pay attention in class. This class is easy, all you have to do is do homework assignments (easy) and take notes. Tests are easy. My only dislike is attendance is a grade and he'll count you absent if you're late. Would take again.
Very easy class . His lectures are interesting . Attendance is 5% of your grade. Test and homework are very easy. He's a very easy grader.
Professor Nelson was one of my favorite professors. Very easy going and isn't a tough grader whatsoever. His lectures are also very interesting. There's one mandatory book you have to read with easy assignments, 1 chapter question a week and 3 tests, one being the final. As long as you do the work and study for the tests, he's an easy A.
I certainly enjoyed this History class over my last one. Lots of work but it made exams super easy to pass with an A for me. Two books are MANDATORY: a textbook and a chapter book. I bought the textbook and borrowed the book from the library. Assignments on each one weekly but they're pretty easy just involves lots of reading. Great class to take!
Professor Nelson is such a good teacher! You can tell he loves teaching History because he makes it so intersting and will make you smile or laugh a little but at the same time you are actually learning. He is not a hard grader. Just take good notes, have 2 required books, attend class everyday, do your work & you should get an easy A
He was good, to an extent. We take online classes because we don't have enough time due to personal and professional reasons like kids and jobs, so the fact that he makes things due at unreasonable times bothered me. Why make things due at 12pm in the afternoon or 8pm? Why not 12am? I recommend him if you don't have a full time job or kids.
Awesome professor! Keeps class interesting, funny and rarely calls on anyone. Only gives 3 tests, including the final, and one paper. Gives weekly chapter questions, which are easy, along with a few sets of questions for whichever book he has you read, also easy. Just show up, take notes, do hw and you'll get an easy A. Also, 2 books are required.
So I'm not a huge history buff, but Professor Nelson made me love American history so much! He gave wonderful and intriguing lectures that made me enjoy learning about history. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who needs to take a history class.
Interesting Lectures however tends to get off subject a lot for a few minutes. Tests are easy as long as you study thoroughly since he put EVERYTHING on there such as Identifying events in history, short essay, fill in the blank, multiple choice oh and true/false.
Took this online History 1302 class and it was horrible. I have never rated a professor on here but since he was so bad I had to give a rating. Tests, Quizzes and Discussion Boards are all due at random times instead of midnight. Discussion Boards and Papers are very scrict guidelines and takes a long time to do in order to get everything. BAD!!!
5 DB per week, 3 quizzes, 3 tests, and 2 essays. No extra credit. Took online, the Discussion boards are due in afternoon.
This class is lit. He makes it awesome. Best sense of humor I've seen in any of my teachers and he makes class interesting.
In the middle of completing his class. Amazing teacher who cares about his students. Weekly short assignments and he drops 5 of them. He's hilarious and makes the class interesting. Don't take him if you're easily offended by anything, he's not afraid to touch on sensitive topics. Love his impressions and jokes. I hate history but loved him.
His class consists of weekly discussion boards, 3 quizzes & 3 tests. 2 essays. It was easy but a lot of work, and the quizzes/tests take time. Textbook required to do discussion boards. I do not recommend unless you love history. Take another Professor to get your history credit.
Very caring, funny and is simple. Very easy to understand. His lectures and PowerPoints are what matter
He was really funny and nice and really cared about his students grades. He was flexible, understanding, and very lenient. Really easy grader and goes over whats on the tests the class before.
If you pay attention and take the notes and just study them the night before you will most likely pass. The only way to get a bad grade is if you don't know anything. He always discusses what is on the test the class before and the most time-consuming part is the Scholarly Article Debate. DO NOT wait until the last minute.
I took this class online. It was very easy. It was a 5 week mini and did consist of a LOT of reading. He is a very easy grader though. He is very clear on what he expects you to do and is available via-email anytime you need him. He replies back very quickly.
BEST TEACHER EVER!!!
His lectures are organized. You do have to pay attention and take notes. He goes over whats going to be on the test the day before. The tests themselves are fairly easy, just make sure you study. I did not use the textbook even though he said to. I ended up with a B. So if you want an A, i recommend getting the book. The projects he gives are easy.
Hes an alright professor, u have to pay tons of attention in order to pass and take manyyyyyy notes. His lectures are boring but he alright
This professor was amazing! I wish I could take him for every other subject in college. He made the class so interesting and fun considering I hate history and mornings. Easy grader and he explains assignments down to the tee. I will definitely be taking him for my other history classes.
Professor Nelson is very kind, super understanding with all students. There are a couple of opportunities for extra credit! Take advantage of them even though you think you don't need it. He goes over possible test questions the class before the test. His lectures are interesting to listen to! I actually understood, you just need to pay attention.
Took online summer session. Due dates/times are random & not the same each week. The usual DB's & you'll have a book review that will have to be done, that has to be approved & he's picky about which book you read & it's not simple. Debate paper as well. You will read a lot & tests are not easy for sure. Other then that the class was okay.
I absolutely loved Prof Nelson's Hist 1032 summer class. This was my first class since returning to school after 4 years. He responded super quickly and was very descriptive on what he wanted. The discussion boards, quizzes, and tests are straight from the book. He also provided power points and reviews to study. Def take him for History!
I really hated and sucked at history and never understood it. Nelson made learning so easy and helpful. He gives a clear nod to everything that's going to be on the test, answers all of your questions with detailed explanations, and gives a solid review that pretty much tells you everything that will be on the test, including the essay question.
If youre taking online classes because its hard for you to keep up w deadlines and all dont take him. Wont give extra credit projects and has a discussion board once every week. His quizzes and tests are 30-50 questions and if you dont read the whole book in detail it wont be easy. The two paper assignments are easy. He responds to emails fast.
This professor was amazing. Im literally pissed that i didnt take him for history 1301 He is very hilarious, very helpful, and his lectures are beyond fun. Tests are easy, you just have to be in class and they way he presents his Lessons are very great. I would take him again if i can
Professor Nelson is awesome! I took his class for History 1 and 2 both 8 week minis back to back. He is very easy, doesn't teach or talk too fast. Class was a breeze. easy tests as long as you took notes, listened and read over your notes a couple of times.
Professor Nelson was by far the best professor I took at San Jacinto College Central! I took his class in both 1301 and 1302 for both 8 week courses in the fall semester and it was a smart idea that I took is 8 week courses. He gives about 3-4 tests, take good notes in class, lectures are very informative, and really funny. Highly recommend him!!
I took professor Nelson for HIST 1301 in the summer in class. The textbook was optional and we could use it if we needed too, so he said. Be ready to write, like really write because he does use powerpoint; but what he says (speaks) is important too. All work is from his powerpoint. Easy grader, funny, and helps you with your life problems.
I took professor Nelson in the Fall in class. Easy grader, funny, and helps you with life problems. His tests are from his lectures (powerpoint), and what he says (speaking). The book was optional, and attendance was optional too. But if you miss class; it will be hard to pass your tests.
Professor Nelson was the best professor I've ever had. He is very understanding and helpful. He uses everyday life in his lectures to make them easy to understand. He replies to email ASAP. He is an easy grader, lots of extra credit opportunities. Would take him again but I already took him for Hist 1301 & 1302! Got A's in both!
If youre not good in history I would definitely take Professor Nelson. His lectures and notes help a lot with the test. If you pay attention to what he discusses and study, youll pass. Hes super nice and understanding.
Professor Bret Nelson was an amazing teacher with interesting lectures. He gave four exams, numerous essays, poster and 2nd essay. His class was in class until this pandemic named COVID-19 interrupted my class and we transferred to online class. He is an easy grader and responded to all my questions both online and in class.
Prof Nelson one of the best! After coming back to school for almost 9 years, I was intimidated to start. But Prof Nelson made inspiring to start school again. I loved his lectures and how he truly cared for his students. I wasnt too interested in History till prof Nelson.
I had this professor for both 1301 & 1302, and 1301 was in class, while 1302 was online. Hes so different in class then online, in class he was so helpful and made it interesting. Online, when Id ask a question, he was very plain in his responses and I felt dumb for asking, even though I truly didnt understand. His responses didnt help.
Prof Nelson rocks! Very caring, always available during normal business hours & on weekends. Responded to emails very quickly. Even via zoom (1 on 1), very caring, lots of homework but manageable for a 5-week course. I definitely recommend Prof Nelson. He is truly an amazing teacher and person.
I took proffesor nelson for a mimi and let me tell you he is the best history rpfessor he takes time of his day to make sure everything is going good with his class , he would always havea positive attitude you will not regret taking him.
Loved him!
Professor Nelson is a really great professor! He cares about his students is willing to work with them. I took his Hist 1302 online which included weekly discussion boards and the usual quizzes and exams. His online exams were a little challenging so I would suggest to study his powerpoints, but overall was a great class!
A great teacher and an easy class. Out of all your classes, this is one of those rare ones that wont stress you out like crazy !
I would recommend anyone to take Professor's Nelson class. He is a very understanding and caring professor and truly seems to enjoy the class he takes. Provides amazing notes and feedback!
He was very good about responding to emails which is good for an online class. The assignments were clearly lined out and his grading was easy to understand! Highly recommend!
Take Professor Nelson!!! I took him for History 1301 and 1302 and he was very great. He gives engaging lectures, is lenient and understanding with grading, has simple/easy to pass exams, and tries everything he can to help you succeed in his course. He's funny and great about explaining history! Made me love the subject.
I took Professor Nelson for a summer online class-I did not realize the class was only 4 weeks! The class was actually very simple-Expectations were presented at the beginning of class. The class was intense, but manageable. He responds within a day to emails. I signed up to take him online for History 1302.
Took an online class. Had 14 discussion boards, 2 essays(around 4 pages each), 3 tests (40-50 questions each). Essay rubric is easy to read and helps you complete your essays. Easiest class you can take
He is a G and allows extensions for things out of your control, he try's to make his lectures interesting.
Professor Nelson was one of the best professors I've ever had. He was very easy to work with and made sure to make you feel comfortable with every assignment.
I took professor nelson as a 8 week course and he only assigns 1 essay, 1 book review, 3 exams, and 14 discussion boards but only 1 response per post. quizlet will be your best friend on exams. The discussion boards are very easy too, all he ask is to use a citation from the book which is provided.
tries to keep up with the current kids slang, its really sweet but can be cringe sometime. He's an amazing professor who genuinely cares about his students. would take this class 100x over if i could
This professor was super nice and understanding. He does talk a lot but personally I found what he had to say interesting since I do like history. However, if you find history boring then you probably will find his classes boring. The assignments are very easy for the most part, and you are able to take the exams online when ever he opens them.
Was such an amazing professor and all the assignments are straightforward.
Professor Nelson was an amazing professor. Very lecture-heavy, he always ensured that his lectures were interactive and positive even when touchy subjects came up. Threw in a few fun facts here and there and were always either funny or just nice to know. Overall the grading was not bad, the projects/essays were a bit difficult but not impossible.
Professor Nelson is one of the coolest professors I've had in a while. H e is very chill and will help out his students when they need the help. He offers extra credit from time to time, and his lectures are very interesting.
I recently took Professor Nelson's class as an 8-week course and loved it. He made my first course for History very easy, Weekly discussion boards were the majority of our grades which were about each chapter of the textbook with a word count of 75 and two responses of 50 words each. We did have to do a book review and history debate assignment.
I would recommend to anyone who wants to take his class. he is very easy going and wonderful to have as a professor. this class is very informational, and the work is not overwhelming or hard at all. if you have any questions, he will answer them in the best way possible.
It's a pretty easy class, mostly just weekly discussion posts. 3 quizzes, 3 exams, and 2 papers. Very organized. Easy criteria for each assignment.
His class is very straightforward, and he is great and quick at responding to emails. He grades very fairly and grades quickly. We had to do a book report, which was the most time-consuming and "hardest" assignment. As long as you read everything you're supposed to and follow his instructions & rubrics, you will do fine in his course.
Professor Nelson is a great professor. He would answer my emails the day I sent them or the next day. Usually responded asap. Took hist 1 online anytime, consists of a book report, debate essay, 14 discussion boards, and 3 exams. All fairly easy and you have enough time to complete everything. Attendance is counted if you did the assignment or not.
A great professor! 9 times out of 10 you get one assignment a week
Easy work, just make sure to do the book reports and signature assignment. I didn't do it and barley passed lol.
I took his class in person. He's a fantastic professor! He cares about the subject and his students. Keep up with the assignments and you'll do great.
Discussion boards are what is mostly covered about aligned with each chapter, There is one final exam and a book review he responds and gives good feedback i took him for the Fall 2024 semester very good professor. Recommend him
(Online) Love, Love, Love, Prof. Nelson! Super easy class, discussion board each week. The "harder" assignments is the written debate on an article, plus the book report he assigns later. Responds fast to emails, and a very nice grader. As of writing this I am taking him in person for his 1302, he's just as cool as he is online if not better!
I wish I could take another class taught by this professor. I've done online, and in-person classes with him and I highly recommend In-person. He's understanding, open minded and makes us laugh every class. Asgmts are reasonable & present learning opportunities while providing enough time to complete. He offers extra credit opportunities as well.
Very awesome guy. One of the best professors ever :) !
Love professor Nelson, had him online for 1301. Decided to take him again but in person because he seemed nice, would do again. Easy primary source assignment due each week. Grades easy on the book report and the scholarly debate assignment, do the work, go to class, and you'll pass! 10/10
He may be awesome for his normal full semester classes. But beware of his 5-week mini! It is an asinine amount of work in 5 weeks, especially if you have other obligations outside of school. I've had no issue with other mini's, but this one is simply absurd. I switched to a different processor and all is good. Just speaking for his summer mini
Professor Nelson was great. I took him online over the summer as a 5 week course, and he was really chill. It can be kind of reading heavy, but his assignments are very straightforward and easy to understand. One book review and a signature assignment, but it is super manageable.
GREEAT PROFESSOR, he is caring, fun and his explanations are not difficult to understand, homework is easy and he is always willing to help you. looking forward to have another class with him.
A great teacher and he makes his class really enjoyable even though history can be kind of boring at times. 10/10 would recommend.
Mr. Nelson this course itself wasn't hard at all. The workload was fair, the assignments made sense, and everything connected well to what we learned in class. I always felt comfortable asking questions, and the teacher created a very positive environment. Overall, this was one of my favorite classes, and I highly recommend taking it.
