Made class very fun and worthwhile to come to. Does not grade harshly, but will expect your best.
His lectures are VERY boring. Hard to keep attention. Gives study guides which help on the exams. Would recommend taking someone else. better outside of class than in.
he talks nonstop and its hard to keep up with him. you wont get any good notes. but he has easy test (no essay).
Very nice guy. You can tell by the way he teaches that he really enjoys history and wants his students to enjoy it too. Fun and really laid back. Gives a few writting assignments but they aren't too hard. Got an A in both classes so if I can do it so can you.
Tests are fair, not too difficult. Gives writting assignmnets but they are easy. Not easy to take notes w/ lectures. Show up and do the assignments and you cant fail, have to study to get an "A", but not a hard Professor. Really nice guy!
boring
Great Teacher, very easy and helpful and interesting
Great Guy, and is very enthusiastic about the course. He lectures 99% of the time, so if you like hands on stuff, he might not be for you. The tests are easy easy easy if you just study the review he gives. The essays in class are pretty easy as well.
This guy is awesome.
TOOK THIS CLASS BY VIDEO, GREAT GUY, GREAT CLASS!! HARD TEST, HARD GRADER OF ESSAYS! WOULD LOVE TO HAVE SEEN AND EXPERIENCED THIS IN CLASSROOM
Awesome teacher, very easy class if you go along and read with the book, i got an easy A. You get to drop a test grade, makes it even better. The project is just busy work, i did it in about a full day and still got an A.
awesome teacher. should tech more subjects!
really good professor...pretty easy class...he really enjoys teaching and i think the students feed off of that...
I took a Learning Communities Class with him and McConnahy(sp?). I hate history and government but like the class. Professor Adams uses power points but note taking is essential. Will answer any question you have right up to minutes before the test.
GOOD TEACHER.. but very technical on grading essays. Lectures are interesting and fun!
has good teaching attributes
Pretty good professor, is fair in what he does. Read the book and you should be okay.
ABOUT 4 TO 5 READING ESSAYS FOR REGULAR SEMESTER. 30% OF EXAM WERE SHORT ESSAYS. IT IS PRETTY HARD TO GET AN A FROM HIM.
He is very knowledgeable about history, he TRIES to be funny. 5 long papers per semester that are boring. He is pretty rough on grading them. 1/3 of the test is written essays which sucks.. but occasionally in the multiple choice he throws in answers like Paris & Nicole.. I would NOT recommend him to a friend
Scrapped essays fall 07, started cumilitive project.
Good teach. Class = lecture, notes, 4-5 quizes, and there is a 5 part essay, req. 2 pgs per essay + 5 pgs for the cumulative (5th) essay. Tests are cake if you study but it's difficult to get an A on them, due to essay questions. Req. memorization of about 60 terms per test...essays on 6 of 9 word banked terms. The 9 terms are always obscure.
HARD! ALOT OF WORK! 3 test and one final. He drops the lowest test grade. He gives you a review which has about 50 terms. The test consist of 35 multiple choice and 6 short answers. The short answer part he expects you to write what you know about 6 out of the 50 terms on the review. A semester project which you would need to write FIVE papers!
Brett Adams are a very hard grading professor and gives the hardest and waste of time homeworks and projects. His tests are the hardest and doesn't show interest to his students...
Great teacher. Willing to help if you just go by his office. Only drawback is a lot of reading
Great teacher, really nice and willing to help if needed. History is one of my better subjects and I still couldn’t get better than a B. He just grades the writing portions on everything to the extreme. For tests he expects you to write a couple paragraphs just for the short answer questions and practically a whole paper for the essays. Way too muc
Took Mr. Adams for the LRCM coupled with Mr. McConachie. This was the best class I have ever taken. Your grade will be well deserved, 3 tests, and 2 projects. He makes learning easy, but notetaking can be hard - fast pace. I highly recommend taking the learning community titled Tycoons and Treehuggers, you will learn alot about the environment.
Very boring lectures and hard tests. Gives good review though. Assigns a lot of papers to write but grades them easy. He even accepted my late papers without a penalty. He is a nice guy, he gave me a B but I never got higher than a C on any of his tests! Would take again.
Cool guy. Great structure, which really helps as there is so much material to cover. Nice, helpful... he's got a great career ahead of him.
HORRIBLE TEACHER. IS USELESS AND VERY COLD BLOODED. IF YOU ARE STRUGGLING IT IS YOUR OWN PROBLEM. WILL MARK UP YOUR PAPERS LIKE CRAZY. PYSCHO ABOUT LAPTOPS!!!! STAY AWAY AND PROFESSOR ADAMS SHOULD GET FIRED!!!!!!!
I took the video class. LOVED IT. It was very clear. Follow the sylabus and you can't fail. READ the material! Really enjoyed the class and the once a month test review and discussion classes. If you show up, he narrows down the test questions. Good Guy.
I took him for my History 1301 & 1302 classes, and both were easy. The research paper is really the only difficult assignment. I found the paper easier in 1302 versus 1301. Professor Adams is a great teacher, and you can tell he really enjoys teaching. His joking attitude makes class fun and easy to pay attention in.
Professor Adams has a serious but kind attitude toward students which I like because he keeps class interruptions to a minimum - some teachers let students run their course off topic. Professor Adams is also very exact, meaning that there are no tricks on the exam and I feel that he is fair in all aspects as long as you study.
Awesome teacher! Took him for Hist 1&2 video courses. If you attend the study sessions & completed the paper prior to the test, he gave you extra credit. All of his test questions came from the video summary at the end of the video guide- & answers to all questions in the back of the book. Follow his rules & you'll get a good grade. WORTH TAKING!!!
It's easy to tell that he really loves this subject. He's a real stickler for people coming in to class and on time. His tests are a good mix between the book and his lectures. Most of the grade came from a multi-part project over the course of the semseter, none of it was hard but you do have to work if you want to pass.
good teacher
Okay he is a nice guy, but he is very into his subject he is not that interesting to me and i get bored major time. If you know nothing about history dont take him. You will have research projects, and a lot of reading to do. If you like history than you should take him if not then get an easier teacher. He is a nice guy though!
great teacher.. really into the subject and if u pay attention n take notes u get a good grade.u really have to study for da tests(multiple choice) really organized teacher.not a blow-off class or for lazy ppl
Research project that spans entire semester. First test is rough, next three are easier. Great Prof! Extremely helpful and always on campus. Extremely knowledgeable and one of the best prof's I have had.
He's boring and monotone. His tests are pretty hard bc he always refuses to give good grades on his essay portion even though you answer all of his questions. Boring class boring teacher and it's hard. Need I say more?
Class is not easy if you are a slacker. You have to read a lot every night and pay attention to small details. Lectures are boring and many quizzes. Have to study a lot for test. Do not recommend unless you are a good and quick reader.
Boring as hell
MY bad i selected the wrong side of the rating scale. Came back to correct this and say that professor adams is Awesome! AGAIN
Mr. Adams is a REALLY nice teacher, but I found his class BORING! I love history, but he just rambles on and on... and I feel like there is no structure to his lecture. So, you MUST read the book! On the up side, he does give you a study guide for tests- so you know what to study! Got an A going about half the time, bc I studied for tests
This was a compressed weekend class. Fri,Sat,Sun for 3 weekends. Loves his subject and made it interesting. Dont miss class, listen, take good notes, ask questions show up be on time. He doesn't put up with any diruptions so dont text or be surfing. If you are serious, take him if not best to move along. Credit to the school
Great prof. Loves the subject.
If you want to learn something about history he is your man. He is genuinely passionate about history and his lectures are awesome with dry humor which is right up my alley. Research project is laid out nicely so that you actually LEARN how to do research..Loved him. Not a gimme class at all.. you have to study to get an A.
4 Tests worth about 60% of your grade, 10 pop quizzes worth about 15%, and a term paper worth about 25%. He knows a lot about history and tends to ramble on topics. Tough to take notes because he talks non-stop. Pay close attention to rubric, I missed a requirement on my term paper and that killed my chances at an A. Poster for extra credit.
Adams is upbeat and enthusiastic. He is flexible, engaged, and helpful. He gets an A+ being one of the best profs I've had.
AWESOME PROFESSOR... he is very passionate about history, and really relates it to current era. I recommend anyone to take him
Great Professor! It's easy to get an A in his class. he posts a review on his website before the test and everything on the test is from the review. There is a written essay but he grades super easy. you just have to do what he asks for to get an easy A
Knows his stuff. Dont be late. Show up. Do the reading, participate turn in your response papers on time. he gives an excellent review for tests. Study it. not easy but quite reasonable. should get an A if you are serious.
professor adams is a great professor he's really there to help you always has office hours avail. but please read the book alot of the test questions are off of there. study the definitions for the short awnser part.take notes frequently.the only bad thing is his class can be very boring to the point you might not want to come to class.
I took this teacher for HIST 1301 and HIST 1302 and I strongly recommend him. He is a very sweet, flexible guy who knows so much about the subject. He makes it very easy for his students by doing power points and exam reviews. If you put in the effort to do the notes and study the reviews its a guarnteed A. My favorite college professor so far(:
He's very nice and very knowledgeable. I strongly recommend him. He's been one of my favorite professors, and I hate history.
I highly recommend him. He is very helpful and has a very enthusiastic approach to history that makes it enjoyable
Professor Adams is extremely helpful, and you can see he loves what he teaches. He made History a subject I actually enjoy!
Great Professor, very enthusiastic. Gives lots of extra credit opportunities. Made history fun. Very positive atmosphere. Wish I had taken 1302 with him.
I'm a NURSING student and this is the hardest course I've ever taken. That says a lot. He is SO unorganized. He gives stupid assignments for many points. His tests don't make sense. He doesn't even use proper grammar and spelling. He uses Connect through Mcgraw Hill and he doesn't care that it makes NO sense. Expect to make a 2/5 on every quiz.
Took him for both 1301 and 1302 and was pleased. If you go to class, take notes, and do the review- you will get an A or B. He is so nice, and easy going.
His lectures are not clear sometimes, so taking notes in class could be hard as he hops around a lot. But he knows his material and is passionate about history. He is understanding so attendance is not mandatory but crucial to passing the class if you are there. Tests are a bit tough as there is a short essay part.
Incredibly educated professor, tests are straight forward, and made history feel like a story that you did not want to stop reading
If you pay attention in class, you will pass all in class assignments. He also give online quizzes. It is essential to read the book if you want to pass the tests. He is very kind and VERY passionate about history. He makes history seem like one exciting story and that helped me get through the readings. Definitely will be taking his class again.
I really don't enjoy history all that much, but this guy is phenomenal. He knows his stuff. He gives hilarious tidbits of history. I took his summer class and highly recommend it. The study guides ARE ESSENTIAL TO PASSING. Let's just say with those study guides, I made a near perfect score without intense studying. Basic facts and concepts.
His lectures are clear, although he tends to go off-topic, and provides a study guide a week before each exam. He grades essays like he's an English prof. and will take off upwards of 10 points for the most minor grammatical errors.
I hate history but I absolutely loved this class! Adams gave great lectures with lots of fun facts and made it easy to comprehend. Tests are easy as long as you do the review and he gives 4 writing assignments that only need to be 2 pages. He graded everything pretty easy and always gave helpful critiques. Super nice guy, highly recommended
Although he doesnt take attendance, I would go to class if I were you. Although his lectures were not very parallel to the exams, he will give quizzes during class that are really easy (practically a participation grade). Essentially if you study the review and know it then you'll ace the exam.
GREAT professor. Very friendly if you get to know him. Show up; he will give participation quizzes. Almost everything on the tests are listed on his study guides. He was one of the most pleasant professors I've taken. I didn't like history much when I started his course, but he changed my mind.
I turned in a Project Proposal listing my sources. He said he didn't know if my web sources were good or not & deducted about 12% off my grade. I asked for some clarity so I could get correct sources. He said to use the web sources I already have if I feel they are right... Either give me 100% credit then or help me so my Web Assn coming up is okay
Always has a very entertaining lecture. You can tell he really likes what he does. The study guide is key.
Just finished taking his Maymester class Prof. Adams He was a great professor and actually made history bearable. He is clearly interested in the subject, and his lectures are engaging. Read the book, do the study guide, and you will ace the course.
I took Professor Adams online course during my first semester of college and got an A+. You need to read a chapter weekly and take quizzes. The quizzes and exams come directly from the textbook so they aren't hard if you study. Professor Adams was very quick to respond to emails and graded fairly with great feedback. I would take him again!
Adams knows his stuff, yeah. His powerpoints are nearly blank, & that's the only way he teaches us. The study guides are just as blank, & I have to dig in the book or do research for those, because I don't know the stuff that well. Isn't that why i'm taking the class in the first place? It starts to seem like a self-teaching course. Not happy.
Nice, knowledgeable professor. Lectures are a little difficult to stay engaged in. You will need to read the book because a lot of the study guide answers you don't go over in class. Oh and the exams are all essays, I don't believe that a Hist 1302 course should be essay format only. He takes off points for the littlest of details. Don't take.
Professor Adams is the best! He really cares if you engage in his lectures and asks a lot of questions to ensure your understanding of the topic. He is hilarious and super laid back. Participation is mandatory and you do have to read a little for the online quizzes but overall his class is a lot of fun and even non history lovers can pass with an A
Professor Adams is an AMAZING professor. Probably the best professor I've ever had. He's very funny , well organized, and has great knowledge of the subject. The only downside to him is that he doesn't teach government!
Wasn't a big fan. Makes you do three papers, 2 small and one large cumulative, 3 exams, discussions and tests. The tests are easy, lets you take them twice and it keeps the higher grade. Most test questions even exam ones are on quizlet. Not a lot to grade so don't miss assignments or it'll hurt. Most of it isn't hard, but he's a tough grader
His lectures were okay, he always tries to incorporate something interesting that will keep us intrigued. Attendance is not mandatory, but you should attend because he gives pop quizzes and those points accumulate to be a lot. Tests are straight forward; there are 3 throughout the semester. Tests are written tests and are basically the review.
Professor Adams is a really cool guy. His powerpoints are just outlines so you need to go to class to get the information. Gives you good reviews for the test and is a pretty forgiving grader. Took him for maymester and he was able to keep class interesting for the whole day. Great professor.
Professor Adams is by far one of my favorites from this past semester. He's an easy going guy and will help you out if you need it. The tests are easy and he gives you reviews of everything that's going to be on them. The only thing that sucks are the papers but there's only 4 and he grades them pretty fairly.
Very fun professor. Knows everything about history, big movie guy too. The class is alright, show up, listen and take notes. Homework isn't too bad and you get plenty of time to do them. tests are kinda hard, study the study guide. I didn't use a text book and got high B.
I took his online class. His grading criteria is clear and easy if you know the material. Theres a timed quiz on all 14 chapters; 10 questions, 8 minutes and two attempts. Theres 3 response papers (650-800 words), discussion and podcast assignments, 1 project and 3 exams. Quizlet is extremely helpful too. He is responsive and gives good feedback.
he doesn't tell you when things are due online and you cant make them up. test are half free response and must know the 5 w's to get full credit. few extra credit opportunities. many quizzes. dont really need text textbook. i dont think he takes attendance. he was very sweet and made a lot of dad jokes. his grading depends on the day.
Best professor ever gives you extra credit.
Professor Adams is so far my favorite Collin professor. I am not a fan of US history but he made it very enjoyable and interesting. His lectures are great and he finds great ways to keep his students engaged. The tests are easy if you show up to lectures and we do have essays but those are fairly easy as well. He gives rubrics for the essays.
Most unreasonable grader I have ever had. I am an A student, and he grades students unfairly, he takes points off some papers, but on others with the same exact info he doesnt. His lectures make you want to fall asleep. He talks from bell to bell and assigns unit response papers which he grades VERY hard. He takes points off for the smallest things
He's the worst professor I've ever had. Took him last semester and he lectures way too much, you basically want him to shut up. He says one thing but grades completely different. He doesn't even know how to grade, it's all random and gives the worst feedback. he walks around like a hawk during test and lectures. save yourself and don't take him
He assigns papers that are very vague and the feedback he leaves on papers doesn't make any sense. He grades on his own mood, not the actual content of your paper. Not a good teacher. Save yourself!
Solid choice for a history professor. Recommend taking him for 1301 and 1302. Lectures are very enjoyable, he's easy going, offers a lot of options for extra credit. His assignments are fun and interesting to read and work on. Easy to get in contact with and get help outside of class. You can make it through the class without the textbook.
Professor Adams is my favorite professor ever! I took him for US History 1 and 2. I'm sad that I don't need any more classes from him! He is so entertaining and you can tell he really wants his students to love to learn. Homework is easy and he always gives helpful and kind feedback. He really motivated me in my college journey.
He is great. He really cares about history, his lectures are not too long and always interesting. He is really personable too. Study his reviews and be in class "every" class. You will do fine. He does grade papers a little tough but they are straightforward. lots of in classes-quizzes but the practice gives you the questions to go home and study
As long as you attend and pay attention to class the coursework will be easy. His teaching style is easy to focus on as well. I definitely recommend him to anyone that needs to take history.
This teacher doesnt care about his students at all! He gives multiple rubrics for assignments and doesnt make it clear what he wants. Never received above a 90 on anything. He has done screwed over me and my classmates since the beginning. Dont take this teachers classes!!!
Took Professor Adams for 1301 and 1302. He was a great professors and one of my favorites at Collin. His lectures are very engaging and he uses humor in a good way that relates to the material. Course expectations were made clear from the beginning. You will not regret taking Adams if you complete the required assignments, which are not that much.
By far one of my favorite professors. His lectures are incredible and engaging, and it's very obvious that he cares about what he's teaching. While there can occasionally be a lot to read, he has clear expectations, and there are plenty of opportunities to improve your grade. Overall, an amazing professor, I highly recommend him.
I would have really enjoyed this class if there wasn't so much reading. I found this class to be difficult regarding memorization because each chapter of the textbook was so long and each quiz had the most specific questions. It really hard to even truly learn the history, as most have 4 other classes. Making the time aspect of a big textbook hard.
Here is the down and dirty. He lectures but it's irrelevant to the tests and quizzes. You have to read the textbook which he provided. So you are reading there book and think you have it but then he will ask questions on the most obscure random stuff. No prompting or giving ideas he covers the topics after the quiz.
Professor Adams is the best! I took him for Hist 1301 and 1302 and as long as you read the textbook you'll be successful. There are some random quizzes and in class assignments throughout the semester to test attendance so be aware.
