Gret teacher, good instruction, I learned alot. He can move fast at times but if you aren't paying attention why are you in school anyway? If you fail or for that matter even get a B or C, it is your fault.

Very good teacher. He explains things well and will admit if he makes a mistake. As long as you pay attention and read the chapters you will be ok. His tests are hard but all the answers come from the lectures so take good notes and study and you will be ok.

Had him for BSC 1007 LAB, and he was awesome! Class got over early and he made every assignment really easy. I don't know how he was for the lecture class but take him for the lab.

Very helpful but challenging professor. Lots of pop quizzes but the class is easy to pass if you attend on a regular basis and take notes. Also reading the text and taking your own notes on it helps a lot. Also, great guy to have for lab.

Brett is absolutely the best biology teacher I have ever had. I came from a university to MCC and He is amazing, HILARIOUS but knows his stuff and will make sure you will too. Watch out for quizzes. Attendance is mandatory allthough he does not take attendance. He is always willing to help. I could go on about how great he is. MUST TAKE HIS CLASS!!

Excellent teacher but very difficult. He will make you learn the material. He has lots of essays on his tests.

Great professor, if you care, he cares. Dont miss class even though he doesnt take roll, he will give quizzes in the first 10 minutes of class. DONT BE LATE!@ Get there early to get a parking spot! Hes easy on the eyes so ladies, be careful don't get caught staring!!

His lectures are pretty decent but make sure you also write down everything that he says, not just what he writes on the board. Expect a pop quiz at least once a week. Grades hard on tests and expects you to remember everything in the lectures word for word. He seems pretty well organized and has a great but often sarcastic sense of humor.

Just finished his class. Wonderful teacher. Hopefully all classes following this will learn how a cheeseburger becomes a baby!! DONT ASK! Make sure to write notes word for word off board. On tests include everything you can possibly remember on the issue. It will help you in the long run. Can be ticky on grading. I loved him!!!

Very fair teacher. NO, you do not need to know everything word by word, just make sure what u write is right! He literally rips his shoulder out to get you through class...as long as you´re willing to study and cut the dumb ass questions. :) Really enjoyed it...almost got emotional when class was over lol.

class is hard as hell. have to study big time no doubt. writes out the basics that you need for tests and quizes but be sure to pay attention

He's a great teacher. He definitely packs the class full of information. Make sure your notes are verbatim off of the board, and always listen during lectures. Labs are a fun, easy A. He can be hard to deal with sometimes, but he's overall a great guy. Most defiantly a great teacher. Serious and passionate about his subjects.

I have him this semester for Oceanography and Biology. I LOVE him! He is the teacher I look forward to everyday. He is goofy, tongue-ted and sarcastic but passionate and knowledgable. I love the way he teachs. Just take notes and study them, you/I should be fine. HE IS A MUST TAKE! I wish all my teachers were like him, I would pay attention more!

He is a good teacher, very nice, and down to earth. Ive learned a lot in his class however the tests are rly hard. He started using random test ppl made and now is making his own and they are ok still a little difficult. however i would recommend if u dont mind doing some work

Very good professor, don't be rude and you'll be fine. Hard test, does everything he can to help his students. Attendance not mandatory but you will see a lot in every single class so don't miss it! Just pay attention, study after every class (quizes a lot), don't ask dumb questions and remember is college not high school anymore ;) I recommend him

Brett is a wonderful person, but not an easy professor. If your looking for an easy class, this is not it. You have to do your work and study HARD. tests are hard as they stray from his lecture. Class is fun as he is very animated. will often help when needed, but not if your and idiot. Very Handsome. TAKE NOTES! and watch out for cheeseburgers! :)

Brett is a GREAT Professor. He pulls no punches, but if you pay attention, take notes and study, you will pass his class. I am now taking A&P and I have to thank him for the manner in which he made us study and learn. It is making a huge difference in A&P. I cannot believe some of the things I am reading. I took Brett's class studied the notes he gave us in class and received an A. I hope alot of you don't plan on attending University level classes they make Brett's class look like basketweaving. He is a great guy,and noone can take that away from him because they are lazy. This teacher has been one of the best that i have ever had! i have learned so much in all of his classes. he has become one of my best friends and i can call him whenever. His noted are very desciptive and if yu have a question he is more than willing to answer them. He is so ;laid back and has a great sense of humor!!! HIGLY RECOMMEND!!!

Brett is a terrific professor and very informative, for students that are taking this course as a non major class than it can seem difficult but the class is not difficult when you study the material. Brett is a teacher I would gladly take another course with, he talks to his students about anything and really does care about thier grades.

I took Brett for BIO. He's awesome! He's funny, knowledgeable, and he really cares about his students. NOTE: You are not in high school anymore. He does expect college level students. If you keep up with going over your notes everyday and truly studying them. You'll do fine! NOTE2: If he jumps on a table and tells you to learn something, learn it!

Brett is a great teacher. He is extremely knowledgable and he cares about his students. Don't expect to skate through this class!! If you thoroughly study your notes and understand the core topics, you will do well. Brett prepares you for the more critical thinking that is involved in your upcoming more advanced topics. Brett is an amazing teacher! If you are there to seriously learn then take his classes! As for his teaching style...does it really matter if he wears shoes are not? Very helpful. You can tell he's very into what he's teaching. Information is very clear. It's also a plus that he is very nice eye candy.

Alright, just to give everyone an idea about Brett, he is an awesome teacher if you are willing to put the time in and do the work. In the first day of class he makes that very clear. I have personally taken 3 classes with him and would recommend him as a professor, ONLY if you are willing to do the work. he relates everything to everyday things

Brett is an AWESOME teacher. He knows what he is teaching and he is a fun teacher. It is a fun class if you are willing to work hard. He is very helpful when you ask. He tells stories in lecture to help you remember :) Anatomy 1 is a challenging course but it was a little easier with a great professor.

Blackburn is an excellent teacher, but yes his class is tough. My advice: attend every class, take notes, record his lectures, print out his powerpoint (its on Angel). He gives quzies almost every class, easy if you are prepared. Take his Lab, its very fun and he grades fair. Hope this helps!

Everyone that is saying bad things about Blackburn are wrong. He is a very tough teacher. His tests are very hard. But he actually teaches you, instead of giving you the answers. You can never learn if you are given the answers. If you put in as much work as he puts into teaching the class. You will do just fine. I would recommend him as a teacher!

Blackburns a great prof. Those saying otherwise apparently aren't accustomed to putting effort into school. Blackburn takes the "old" approach of making a student earn their letter. Personally I rather work hard for a grade I deserved, than to be handed the same grade the person next to me got who did jack all semester.

Hard! Very clear though. Bring a recorder and take GOOD notes! At first it's information overload but if you take the time to go over the info again you're good. Quiz every other class and exam wording can be very tricky. Again HARD INSTRUCTOR but you do learn the material very well if you study! Nice guy but not the most approachable.

He's a very good teacher

Amazing REAL teacher. Tells funny stories to expalin things. Is hard on you because he wants the best from you, if you can not work hard quit college now!! Willing to explain different ways, and asks how he can better help you if you are struggling. If I was a science major I would take him again in a heartbeat!

I enjoyed the class and lab. He is very helpful and will always try to answer your questions. He doesn't play favorites and is a very fair grader. Attempts to explain things in every possible way for you to understand. Challenging class, STUDY, and you will do fine.

Brett is an awesome fun teacher. However while funny and charming he is there to "learn you something" do no take this class expecting to skip by it is hard but if you pay attention and do the work you will be fine. if you are looking for an easy class then this is not the class for you. STUDYING is mandatory or you will fail!!

I have a degree in a different field from a university and can honestly say this professor likes to play games instead of seeing how much you really retained. Tests are not graded on a fair scale, although I have been lucky to be on his good side. I learned how to play his game and believe I will end up with a B+ or A if I am lucky. beware.......

The people posting on here are 18 year old babies who dont want to earn a grade. Does not talk down to people, just tells it like it is. He DOES give test reviews in every class. Does anything he can to help. Two classes, 2 A's. Do what he says, study and you will do fine. Those of you complaining, welcome to college!!

I am taking Brett for Into to Biology - he covers a lot of material, but does it well and in a way you can understand. If you miss a class, you could fall behind. Also have him for lab - he makes it fun. I hope to take him in future classes - very fair with grades! STUDY is a must!

I took his Diversity of Life class online. He was very clear, helpful, and had an organized routine throughout the semester, so you always know what is coming up for the week. Always quick to respond to e-mails, and would answer any questions. Great class!!

My wife and I took his biology class during our first semester in college. It was not easy but if you pay attention in class, interact and study a few days per week you will do well. Every class was entertaining, and his stories are hilarious. I would take his class again in a heartbeat. The lil cry babies that want an easy A will not rate him high

This is a quality proffessor. I would take any class with him. he is very demanding, but if you do exactly what he tells you, u'll get an A. He is also very funny, and has a cool attitude. Not an easy A, but his class most certainly prepares you for anything u're taking in the future as far a science. Do not miss class, its very fast paced.

Do not expect a free ride in his class to earn an A. With this professor you must actually work to earn your grade. One of my favorite professors in the college.

I took this course Summer A online. I would read the chapters twice and go through the online chapter media twice but the questions on the quizzes are rarely in the book. I ended up googling a lot of the questions on the quizzes and tests and sometimes even found the exact question with answer online.He changed my grades for the better too. Easy A

I am taking Brett's class this semester and I LOVE him! He can be loud but he explains things over and over again and goes out of his way to make sure you learn. He is very down to earth and always takes the time to help... I would take a class with him again and again! Wish he taught A&P! This is a must take! I always looked forward to going!

i took his class and failed it the 1st time but it was me but took him again and passed with an A he is an excellent teacher and so funny and down to earth he would get off topic sometimes but honestly I looked at it as a nice lil break he has been so far my favorite teacher! just a good ol' boy! lots of fun and great examples to help take his lab

I took him for Biology and loved this class. Science is my least favorite subject but he made this class fun. Yes, you have to work for your grade and he can be intimidating at times but overall my favorite teacher so far! I took him again for another class.

Took him for class and lab last semester LOVED HIM! He makes sure you know your stuff! You have to work for your grade though!! He was so much fun in lab! Never missed a day of his classes and always looked forward to going! He isnt bad to look at either!

If you are expecting an easy A, do not take this instructor. He grades very fair if you put forth the effort. He gives odd extra credit, so make sure you always read ALL instructions, otherwise, you could miss out on a few extra points. I would definitely recommend this instructor if you are willing to learn like a mature college student.

Brett ensures your comprehension of the topics by presenting the information in various forms that suit your learning style. He goes above and beyond to do so, he will make sure you understand before the test. Funny guy, relaxed class setting, and overall great teacher. A+ for effectively passing on an intense volume of knowledge.

He is funny and engaging, and very flexible when it come to making accommodations for the disabled. He make the material interesting too. BUT HE IS A STRICT TEACHER and he will tell you that the first day, you will do well if you get there on time, you pay attention and do your work, and he will not accept late work.

I took Prof. Blackburn for a section A summer class online and he was amazing. If there was any unclarity he was there to answer questions. Responds to emails super fast if you need help.

You need to know your information. He is quick to respond and helps when you approach him. He's a wonderful teacher. I'd take him again. Participation is important. He gives extra credit. I made an A. Power points were great and provides me with most information.

Professor Blackburn always responded to my emails and was very helpful! The quizzes were easy and I was always given 11/10 on my discussions. The tests were a little more difficult and required more effort. I spent very little time in this class and found it was my favorite. I'm taking another class from Professor Blackburn again next semester!

Teacher gives good feedback on your work, enjoyed actually taking this course and responded in time when emailed

Hard professor. Four exams are mostly short answer and essay with a few multiple choice- I think the grading is somewhat subjective. Pop quizzes based on slides. He does not give reviews for exams- have to know everything. However, I learned a lot, which provided a good foundation for further study. The textbook is graduate level IMO.

It was fine. Hard to understand the class because the notes were kind of different from the test and quiz but its all on quizlet for the test. only challenge was the writing/ responding the daily discussion post every week since you have to know what you're talking about. Its not that bad but meh. He gave a bonus for your grade which was nice.

Study before every class because he does do quizzes and they can be difficult. Test are fair though the definitions aren't explained well. Lots of opportunities to get a good grade. must show up to class as the quiz will count as zero. Love Brett he's a pleasure to be around and lectures are never boring

This class was super easy and answers are easy to find. All work is due typically on Sunday nights, but there are occasional Discussions and Exams due throughout the week. The grading is fair and the professor is amazing at giving feedback. 10/10 would recommend taking Mr Blackburns courses! He's awesome!!
