Brett only talked about concussions. This man was not good. Very boring and always talking about Georgia. Avoid if possible!! You have been warned.
I really like Gunn's teaching style- he doesn't just put tons of words on his slides and read them off, he puts minimal words and explains the meanings in a clear way His exams are not too difficult, just need to study
The tests are really hard, impossible to get good grades but that is also because of the topic, funny guy and has interesting lectures, just bad topic.
Gunn is a very skilled professor who has a ton of knowledge on this topic. The way he teaches is based on understanding rather than just memorizing which I love. Human Anatomy is a hard class and you have to work hard to do well but that is a topic thing NOT a problem with Gunn's teaching. I don't think you could find a better anatomy professor.
The class is wicked hard but that is really only because of the content. His lectures are interesting, and he relates a lot of things back to himself to help us understand the way things work. He provides everything you need to pass, I only study off the things he posts, I haven't opened my textbook once and I have an A. Hard class, amazing prof.
Very good prof
Dr Gunn is a very good and caring professor. He always makes sure that he is available to his students, even when he's not on campus. He is very clear about what will be on the exam, and even helped me develop new techniques when studying and preparing for lectures so I can do better on the exams. The class was very hard and had a lot of material.
The class can be interesting but the material is difficult. Tests are based mostly on the application of concepts rather than memorization. Overall a difficult class but it's also the material being taught
A&P is an incredibly tough class no matter who's teaching it. I feel like Gunn genuinely wants to see all his students succeed and he provides all the resources necessary for it. If you take this class, I heavily suggest rewatching the recorded lectures, doing the extra credit, and attending his group study sessions!
Not a good prof. His lectures have maybe five words on a slide. He often fails to provide relevant info and will not give it if asked. Exams want you to have deeper understanding of material, which would be fine if he taught that way. He doesn't. He had to provide extra credit for every exam because the class performed so poorly on every one.
Class is hard no matter who is teaching or what school you go to. Gunn is a great professor and really does want people to do good. He is funny, relatable, understanding, and flexible. His quizzes are grade boosters done outside of class and he offers 20 points extra credit on each exam.
Anatomy is a hard course, but BG has got it down. You have to be able to develop study skills and prepare yourself for lecture, but honestly that is on you. He is accessible all of the time and is also very flexible. He also offered extra credit which proves he wants you to succeed. He is also lowkey pretty funny. Hard topic, amazing prof.
Attendance is not mandatory, but you better get your butt to class because A&P is not an easy course. Brett works hard to explain the material and the dude is a certified genius in this field. Take notes and study constantly and you will be fine. The tests are not like what you'd expect but you'll get the hang of it! Take this course with Gunn!
A&P is such a hard subject, but I professor Gunn does a really good job. His lectures are clear and organized. The exams are the hardest part, but he always gives points back, and extra credit. He really wants his students to succeed, and you can tell. He is really nice and accessible outside of class. He's funny and makes lecture interesting.
As difficult as this material is, Professor Gunn does a great job explaining it. You have to be willing to spend time outside of class reviewing and going to see him for help in order to succeed. He is such an intelligent person and is passionate about anatomy & physiology. I found using his study guides to be extremely helpful.
B Gunn is an excellent professor teaching difficult material. He is always available to students outside of class through office hours and email. His lectures are engaging, and he genuinely wants his students to exceed, but you do need to work for it. He does say important info that is not in the slides, so prepare a note outline before class.
B Gunn was a good professor for such a hard subject. He did talk a bit fast during lectures so take notes before class and utilize the lecture recordings on canvas because he genuinely understands this material and explains it well. It's clear hes a nice guy and wants to see everyone succeed, but only if its clear that you are putting in effort.
Dr Gunn is overall a decent professor. He offers students extra credit and is helpful during his office hours. During lectures, he tends to be all over the place. You will learn that he enjoys discussing concussions. Dr Gunn can come off as arrogant quite often, and could work on his attitude. Be sure to utilize the textbook and lecture recordings!
Brett Gunn really helped me develop better study habits. He is a very nice guy and clearly wants his students to do well. He gives extra credit opportunities and provides many examples of how concepts relate to real life which I found very helpful. If you want to do well you are going to have to study, but he is very helpful if you are struggling.
He is a good professor just a tough subject. He could use more mnemonics and memory tricks for some of the more complicated topics. There is an option to watch online lectures so class is flexible. I recommend crash courses or anatomy BootCamp before the lesson. Overall he's funny and always encourages students to email or come to office hours.
Overall he is a very knowledgeable professor. However, he tends to get very side tracked during lectures about more complicated topics that he says we don't need to know at this level. Many people aren't happy with his lecture style however, it is a very difficult topic to teach and make sure everyone understands. Very time consuming class.
THIS MAN GAVE ME FULL ON DEPRESSION TO THE MAX!!! one of the worst professors I think I have ever encountered !! exams were brutal and practically half the class was failing. Gave us extra credit because he had to. Gets off topic during lectures and has 5 letters per slide. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS UNLESS YOU PHYSICALLY HAVE TO!
Professor Gunn made content I already knew very confusing and had to correct information errors from his recorded lectures often. He shared his personal life a lot and has a thing for concussions. He claimed to not do extra credit but gave twenty points to each exam for doing a simple assignment. Very confusing expectations, do not recommend.
Brett Gunn is a very approachable professor. He teaches a hard course and provides hard exams, but that is the nature of the course. I always thought his lecture style was great- he puts very minimal words on the slides and then goes into depth explaining them during the lecture. Definitely go to his lectures!
I enjoyed professor Gunn. 507 he offered a lot of credit because not many people were passing. 508 this semester is a lot different with no extra credit offered. he records the lectures so if you miss a class it isn't that serious. His class is very hard, but if you put in the work and study you'll receive good grades.
Dr. Gunn truly has no regard for his students especially their mental health. Dr. Gunn was not approachable and was an intimidating guy. I took 507 and 508 with Gunn, and truly recommend to avoid at all costs. You're welcome (saving you many tears).
This course is very difficult, and zero opportunities for extra credit. The study guides were very clear however very little content ended up on the exams. The exams towards the end of the semester (4 exams and a final) typically end up being back to back, 2 weeks apart, making time to study very difficult
BMS 508 with Dr. Gunn was a circus. He often verbatim repeats the textbook while adding words like "mostly" or "primarily", skewing definitions and main ideas. It is concerning when a professor seems just as confused as you are. The amount of difficult material we are given is laughably excessive as his exams are much more simple than expected.
Dr. Gunn is the most contradicting professor I have had. His expectations are remarkably unclear. He provides study guides but they do not accurately reflect the level of complexity in understanding needed for the exams. Gunn often corrected errors in his slides during lectures or made canvas announcements fixing mistakes. Avoid for your sanity.
After some time figuring out Prof Gunn, I ended up really liking him and the class. I succeeded by using his study guides to make my own and those helped me do very well on his exams. People blame him for their grades, but in all honesty, if you put the effort and time in, you will learn so much and love the class. He is helpful outside of class.
Dr.Gunn overall is a super confusing professor. He does not make it clear what material is expected to be known on tests. Be prepared to teach a lot of material to yourself through the textbook instead of lecture because he fails to go in depth during class and rushes through slides as well. This class felt like a full time job within itself!
The class content is hard enough already but Prof Gunn seems to purposefully confuse his students . He contradicts himself when it comes to test content and the exams are very difficult. Not approachable and not helpful. So many students are struggling and the associated lab classes are disorganized and a joke. Terrible teacher.
He goes quite fast, but after getting used to him he makes you work for it. People who want to do good will do good and people who don't put enough effort in will do bad. He's a great professor, but sometimes he can be confusing. If you're confused just email him or go to office hours. Utilize his study guides and office hours. I took 507 and 508.
Prof Gunn moves through content really fast and there is A LOT of stuff you have to learn throughout this course. It is very time consuming and if you want to do well you need to put a lot of time into it. I would not recommend it unless you have to take it. Going to lectures and reading the textbook is a MUST here.
Keeps material interesting and is clear on what will be tested on. Overall, enjoyed the class and is useful for future knowledge.
Prof Gunn holds his students to a very high standard but is an amazing professor. Most students that I know have failed one or more exams and it is generally because they don't read the textbook. Not required to read but very helpful. He is very receptive during office hours. Most kids get back grades just because they don't want to put the work in
Professor Gunn is very intelligent and knows what he is doing. Although this course is pretty hard, as long as you stay on top of taking notes and studying you will be fine. This class is definitely a learning curve and all you have to do is just put in effort. Everyone has different stuff to say about Brett, but personally I enjoy his lectures.
If you want to teach yourself very A & P, take this class. He likes to cancel class frequently and cancel his office hours, which leads to the students having to fend for themselves often. His class is more confusing and chaotic than it needs to be. The labs are a joke and the TA's don't have much direction on what they should be doing.
Dr. Gunn is kind and cares about his students succeeding. Hes open for office hours and rarely cancels lecture unless actually sick. A&P is tough in general so plan to study/read/and take good notes. Posts lecture recordings and clear study guides for exams. You only do poorly if you put in 0 effort.
I really enjoyed Dr. Gunn's class overall. Definitely a hard class but if you put in the effort you will be okay. You can tell he cares about his students and the information we are learning which makes me look forward to class. He is very clear from the start of the semester about what is expected and that it is up to you if you want to do well.
Things you should know: -Lab is a joke, dont really learn much from it. -If you put the time and effort into his class you will succeed. He records his lectures so use that to your advantage and rewatch them. He gives you everything you need for the tests as well. You just have to put effort into the class.
Overall the class is time consuming, but it is easy to succeed and get good grades if you truly put the effort in. Professor Gunn really cares about his students and is pretty accessible outside of class. You don't have to go to the lectures, but if you want to do well I definitely recommend it. Study hard!!
BMS 507 was by far the hardest academic course I've ever taken. Dr. Gunn's lectures are very confusing and he talks very fast. You are better off reading from the textbook. This is a course where you need to study hard and stay on top of the workload or else you will do poorly. The exams and practicals are hard.
Gunn takes an already difficult subject and makes it harder and more confusing than it needs to be. Lots of cancelled classes and confusing lectures. The labs are not helpful and you don't learn anything. The practical exams are really hard and you have to teach yourself most of the information. Same goes for a the lecture exams.
Prof can be rude and genuinely not helpful when asked questions. He can also be very condescending when speaking during lectures and seems to enjoy confusing students. Do not take this class unless you absolutely have to. Content is very interesting but teacher is horrible.
Dr.Gunn is okay he mostly gets a bad rep because he teaches a hard class. The tests are difficult but he provides a lot of resources to study from. Labs were a complete waste of time and we never did anything so studying for the practicals was annoying.
Professor Gunn is a very knowledgeable lecturer on anatomy; however, his style isn't for everyone. His slideshows have minimal information on them making it hard to study. The nice thing is he does post his lecture recordings. He can be unapproachable and not very helpful during office hours. The course is hard, go to every class.
Brett Gunn overall is a good professor. He wants his students to do well, and he wants to help if students are struggling. He had never taught first-year students before so it was a learning curve for both students and the professor. He was also new to the university. His exams are hard. He is not super scary to talk to.
Get Ready for your whole life to be Anatomy. Fast lectures, go through a chapter a day. Exams: are big-picture ideas, and scenarios like in the real world. Go to extra help and exam review. The final is cumulative. Very Accommodating, and you have accommodation with SAS he will set a meeting with the student and use the Testing Center
Brett Gunn is a knowledgeable person, he is insanely smart and knows exactly what he is saying. Anatomy is a very difficult subject to teach/learn. He def overcomplicates topics but college is very self directed and self paced, it is up to you to learn the material. He gives you the material and tools to learn but he does not teach you.
Professor moves too quickly, tries to cover way too much material, cancels classes a lot and makes tests really hard and confusing on purpose. Anatomy is a hard subject and I get that but this professor makes it even more confusing than it needs to be.
Obviously, A&P is an incredibly hard course. He makes it difficult but there's also no way for him to make it easy without missing a lot of chapters. You really have to put in the time outside of class if you want to succeed in this course. Tests are very difficult and require a lot of studying.
He teaches a hard class but provides lots of good support by having office hours. Although attendance isn't mandatory, going to lectures helps provide a good and deeper insight on content. As long as you take the time to do notes and study, the class is 100% passable.
This is a very difficult class do not take it if you don't need too. The professors tests are very difficult and don't match the study guide. You have to put many many hours into this class and study like crazy to do well. You need a textbook and lab manual which are very pricey. Lecture are very quick with little to no words on the slides.
He is a great and fair professor. The class itself is hard, but that can be expected when taking anatomy. There are 4 exams total and we had the option to take the final or not. You have to put in a lot of time and effort to succeed in this class, but he has office hours and usually does bonus questions on the exams.
Dr. Gunn is one of the most knowledgeable professors in STEM I've gotten to learn from. The material requires some studying, but he tells you what you need to know and posts helpful practice exams for review. The amount of homework assigned is reasonable and the content is relevant.
Too fast and too hard to be practical. Lab and lecture were covering entirely different content
Anatomy is hard, Gunn does a good job of teaching like everything. It is a difficult subject. It sucks he does no extra credit, and all the exams are pretty difficult. The lab for this course is where it gets weird. Labs were unorganized and really have no benefit.
very smart man and knows almost everything about the subject, but class is definitely hard due to the fact that he lectures quickly and has a hard time actually simplifying topics into easier ways to understand. lab was very unorganized and was pointless of even going to since the TAs never even taught (be prepared to learn everything yourself).
if you have a hard time taking exams, don't recommend, he is rude and doesn't help you at all.
This is a very difficult course yes, but if your effort is put forward it will be okay. Exams are exactly what he teaches in class, yes they are difficult but not impossible. Study a lot, and take notes. Brett Gunn is an amazing professor!
To everyone complaining about how hard his class is; welcome to college! Brett Gunn is my king and honestly the best professor I've ever had. Saying that, Anatomy 507 is genuinely the toughest class I have ever taken. It's extremely content heavy, but Brett Gunn is seriously a good teacher for teaching it. He's extremely smart, and very funny.
Professor Gunn is a great professor, but the material is very difficult, and you will struggle if you have a bad study technique. The lectures are only 50 minutes but contain a lot of complex material on the slideshows. The only graded assignments that he gives are exams and hw is only worth 5-10%. He is very helpful during his office hours, though
BG rocks. I personally didn't use the textbook for lecture, but you do need a ~50$ lab textbook (online). If you do the hw and study for even just 30 mins-1 hr a week, you can breeze through his class (lab is AWFUL). I averaged it out with my friends, each of us spent on avg 7 hours a week studying for lab- one of us still failed. Even w/ BG help.
If you can avoid this class, do it. As a third year stem major that took anatomy in high school, he makes his exams the most roughest thing ever. Brett does not space out this course well with percentages. Don't get me even started on the lab that is in no way tied to lecture. If you don't have to take this course, don't. If you have to take it gL.
amazing class, struggled on the first exam with a 40, but then had 80s for 2nd and 3rd. one thing you should definitely do is find a tutor so you can learn more and some might bring their old exams so you can view them, since they pretty much copy/paste the same questions every year.
While the content of anatomy is difficult, Brett Gunn himself is an amazing professor. No matter who teaches anatomy, it will always be a tough subject. However, Brett Gunn's lectures are clear, and he knows what he is talking about. Exams are based on the slides, which are posted on canvas. You will need to study, however this class is passable.
DO NOT TAKE UNLESS YOU NEED ANATOMY. Anyone who is interested or needs this course will succeed if they can retain and apply large amounts of complex information. Find a routine that WORKS- meaning you are able to retain and know a majority of the information with no problem. Tests will be a slap in the face, pay attention to your improvement.
I struggled in lab because they are completely self guided (my TA had never even taken anatomy), so I recommend memorizing the content on a weekly basis so you aren't overwhelmed by the practical exams. Dr Gunn is an good guy and an alright lecturer, so as long as you show up and do the homework, studying for exams will be easy.
This class will not be easy, that is the facts plain and simple. HOWEVER, Prof. Gunn does his best to provide a firm basis of the topics. His lectures are extremely beneficial and I strongly encourage anyone to attend all lectures. His exams are difficult but if you read the book, attend lectures, and take notes then you will succede.
Lectures are incredibly informative to the point where you may not need to read at all. Everything is covered in great detail and exams are fair. Dr. Gunn is an excellent teacher and wants students taking his classes to succeed. If he taught more than just A&P, I would absolutely sign up.
Dr. Gunn is an amazing professor. He does a good job of explaining concepts in the lectures. The class in general is information heavy, so it takes a lot of extra time on your own to succeed. However, Dr. Gunn is extremely knowledgable and is willing to help if needed. If he taught other classes besides A&P, I would definitely take them.
Its a very difficult course, very fast paced. When he does answer questions it make less sense. He stated that 507 shouldn't be a freshman level course. only grades on small assignments in the textbook, exams and lab practicals. the practicals are extremely difficult and the TA i had wasn't helpful (she had never even taken the class herself)
I LOVE BRETT GUNN
Brett Gunn is the most knowledgeable professor that I probably will ever have. His class is difficult and in order to do well on exams you really need to put in the time. Beware of random in class quizzes, but he does drop a few of them if you happen to miss it.
I loved him! He explains things thoroughly and is easy to talk to to after class if you have questions. A&P in general is very hard and requires a lot of work outside of class, but I think he makes it as attainable as he can. Also just funny and engaging to make lecture a little less heavy
Brett Gunn does a great job explaining the material and giving out good study guides. A&P is simply not an easy breeze through course. Nevertheless, I enjoyed his lectures and would recommened him.
As long as you study, you will be good. The exams are exactly what he says in class, so take notes.
Study and you will be fine.
He rushes through slides, he is very impersonal with students, he's intimidating, his class is just overall harder than it should be.
He makes it clear at the start of the semester that he prides himself on having a class that not a lot of people do well in. He makes it harder than it should be. The lab is BAD. Its never clear what youre supposed to know or do, and the TAs have ever even taken A&P so they CANNOT help. His study guides aren't accurate to what's on practicals.
Definitely intimidating which made me refrain from asking some questions out of fear they were dumb. Hes funny and you can tell he's a smart guy and knows what he's talking about. I wouldn't necessarily say tough grader because for the most part its multiple choice, he's fair with throwing away questions that are deemed confusing/multiple answers
The class is honestly difficult, you have to study and never stop. I wouldn't suggest taking this course as a elective, take only if needed. He is not the worst professor but he is very intimidating and scary to talk to. The lab is rough, and is not aligned with the class itself. Good luck Charlie!
He tries to intimidate students because the lecture is mostly made up of freshmen, but he is a great professor. The class is hard, but you'll be fine if you go to lecture, study, and read the textbook. He cares about students and notices when people's grades are improving. Homework is tedious but not difficult.
I love brett gunn. would have him in in every life.
if u don't think Brett is funny u have the humor of a rock. Yes his class is hard but he makes it fun. He's willing to help and makes concepts understandable to students by using real life examples
Bret Gunn is actually such a good teacher. Yes this class is difficult but Dr. Gunn provides useful tools to succeed and actually cares about the well-being and success of his students. Be prepared for hours of studying to do well on tests.
I do not take this class. He finfishes a chapter of material in an 1 hour lecture and expects for the lecture to not be your primary source for learning A&P. The exams are 3 chapters every 2-4 weeks, followed by 2 lab exams. You'll be marked off if you answered correctly, but you didn't use the EXACT they are looking for, letter by letter.
I love brett, he tells you how it is straight up and doesnt sugar coat the material but he is very willing to help you. His exams are very fair compared to his lectures.
He really does care about his students. He puts on a scary act to get us to try harder. If you actually go to him with a problem he will help you. He tells us everything we need to know but you do have to closely read the instructions. Before you email him check every announcement because your question is probably answered in those or the syllabus.
tells you straight up the course is hard, lecture moves quickly, so does lab, be prepared to put a lot of time into the course if you want to do well, all of lab is self taught, and spelling is part of your grade on lab practicals, makes all assignments due at 6pm DO NOT TAKE AS A DISCOVERY
He is a very good professor and does a great job, but the class is very challenging, and due to my major, I have to keep a high grade in this class so my GPA doesn't drop. Which can be very difficult in A&P, especially for me as an incoming freshman first semester.
He is Very good
Very hard professor. Exams are nothing like the study guide, extremely difficult wording. From my personal experience, this professor isn't willing to help students; he doesn't give good study tips or extra help. I went to lecture, got nothing out of it, taught myself everything and still did mid on the exams. I would never take this class again.
Not as bad as people say. it's a lot of material but if you KNOW everything on the slides and study a week in advance you'll be good. Lab is annoying and the practicals take a lot of studying. He posts the lecture videos so even if you miss class you won't miss the material. I think this is a class that you get out what you put into it.
Brett is a great professor and I stand by that. he is very straight to the point, if you put in the effort you will see results. But this is a class where u NEED to put in the effort.
I love daddy Gunn. But fr he's really nice and knowledgeable about the material and you can tell he cares about health science.
It's a hard class, try to take it with a lighter course load because this class will suck up a lot of your spare time.
Everyone freaks out about anatomy, but I've missed a lot of lectures (sorry Gunn) and still have a B-. It's very easy to learn the material outside of class. Lots of memorization. He seems scary but BMS is not that bad.. lab is worse than lecture in my opinion.
Dr. Gunn is a great professor. It is a very difficult class and requires a lot of time outside of lecture to learn. Homework can be somewhat long but easy. He provides a lot of time for office hours which are helpful. Lab is honestly more difficult as it is almost completely self driven and requires hours of studying for the practicals.
Instructor shows little regard for student success, reflected in disorganized& ineffective lectures.Exams unnecessarily difficult& disconnected from lectures and study guides.Questions are confusing&poorly worded, gives impression they're meant to trick students than assess understanding.More about enduring instructor than actually learning anatomy.
I LOVE BG!! But!!! If you aren't willing to work hard or be told that there are high expectations, then his classes are not for you.
Dr. Gunn is a great professor teaching a challenging class. Anatomy, no matter the profession, will be complicated if you do not put the time into studying and preparing. I found this class enjoyable and felt accomplished when my hard work studying translated to A's. The hate is from freshmen who aren't used to college, expecting an easy A for free
