He's very engaging and enthusiastic about digital art. Overall, he was absolutely amazing.

Brian is a really great and helpful art professor. I've taken two of his classes so far and both have been very enjoyable experiences that I felt like I learned a lot in. I especially love how he runs this art class, it's much more of a studio class than previous classes I've taken, so the course work allows students to do their own thing.

I never thought I'd hear the words "Tupac Shakur" come out of his mouth, but hes a legend.

You never felt like you were in the wrong for asking a question, and he was willing to troubleshoot ideas if the program seemed to misbehave. He was also open to all of the student's concepts for assignments, and wanted students to complete the assignments well enough to become a portfolio piece in the direction of the student's desired career.

The professor has such a contagious enthusiasm that gets you excited for the next project. His friendliness and experience made his feedback vital to getting a good grade.

He is very funny and upbeat. Attendance does matter as well as some online work is done. Very fun class I took 1010 from him it just wasn't an option but it was very fun.

This class was challenging in some ways but overall an easy class. There is a lot of helping each other and giving and receiving feedback to better your work. Brian Astle made it easy to understand and was always there to help and give us feedback on things to fix and work on so we could improve our skills.

Brian is one of the only professors I liked at Utah Tech. He is extremely understanding, if you have personal stuff that comes up and need to skip his class. So much is covered in class so DO NOT miss, or you will fall behind quick. This was the hardest art class I have ever taken but I needed that because I have advanced my skills so much.

This professor gives a clear understanding of what he teaches and what you could do to improve on the assignments. Attendance is important because the lectures is what you need to know for the assignments. You do use most of your own photos and critiques in class as well. Overall the class is fun and just turn in your assignments on time.

I am not an art major so this class wasn't my forte but he made it easy and comfortable for me when dealing with the bigger projects at the end of the semester. Make sure you keep up with the assignments.

By far one of my favorite classes that I had this semester. As long as you show up and participate it is very easy to pass the class. He does have assignments that he has you complete on canvas outside of class time but his is very relaxed with his grading and made the art fun.

The class started out a bit tough for me, it was hard to understand photoshop, however, later through the semester he really helped me understand photoshop a lot better.

I enjoyed this professor very much, I have a hard time with traditional art and it was still vary enjoyable to take.

Helps teach essential skills in multiple adobe products, when he was troubleshooting on his own lecture he let us know what roadblocks he was finding in order for us to avoid those roadblocks, made learning a program as difficult to deal with as Adobe After Effects a lot easier.

Did this as an online class but it made it way harder for us to communicate with him and fully understand what he wanted us to do. But I made an appointment with him and it made it a bit easier to fully understand what I needed to do. He wants us to do our best so he will work on it with you if you reach out to him.

I really enjoyed his digital art class. He is very helpful when it comes to troubleshooting problems we run into with photoshop. He makes sure no one gets left behind when going over new tools and is always there to answer questions.

He is an amazing teacher, he always had good feedback to give and was even willing to step in and show you what you could do to improve. He is hilarious and went along with our jokes, and it was so easy to talk to him. He gave plenty of time for assignments and even extra so that if we wanted to resubmit our assignments for a higher grade we could.

most of the points in the class are in the weekly homework, which in situations he will give you full credit for. he is always willing to work with you as long as you communicate with him.

Professor Astle is the worlds biggest hype man. Even if you feel like you are not the greatest artist coming in, he will find something to praise you on creatively and also help you improve. Attendance does matter as there are several group discussions and class presentations and it is very in depth for a 1010 course. I loved this class overall.

He is a tough grader and definitely has high expectations, but he'll give you several opportunities to succeed. Brain was always there to give you constructive feedback on your assignments and he wants you to succeed! He expects you to work hard, and grades you accordingly. He doesn't accept late work, but he does allow you to resubmit older assignments after the due date to get a better grade. He's a strong teacher and is very easy to talk to.

Professor Astle exhibits great effort in making sure everyone has individual help with much respective critique for his students to grow. He grades fairly and is great at teaching. We had a student teacher for our course, it's hard to say what the real professor is like. I based my ratings off of her ability to teach his curriculum, but otherwise she was great. Loved the class, the environment that she established, and her understanding when situations arose outside of the student's control.

I really enjoyed going to this class everyday, even though it was an early morning class I always wanted to show up and participate in the lessons. He's a really fun and easy going professor, the grading was straight forward, the class readings were short and easy to understand. And the final exam was super easy going as well.

Professor overall is very friendly and easy to talk and learn from. He gives great walkthroughs when learning the adobe programs and offers great advice on assignments and possibilities of careers. He works great too if you have disability accommodations and easy to reach out of class too. Highly recommend taking classes from him if you can.

This was only I believe the second time that Brian taught this class, so there was some confusion with the material provided; but he would spend the time to learn how to help you with what was confusing, which I really appreciated.

Very good at teaching and very good at performing what he teaches and using real examples. He is a very skilled artist with a great depth of knowledge when it comes to Art and Drawing. Just assigns a lot of out-of-class homework time.

Don't expect this class to be super easy. However, if you show up and do your best, the class is very manageable, and Professor Astle is quite reasonable. Make the most of your class time and you won't need to draw outside of class too much. I applied myself and was able to learn quite a bit about drawing!

Ms. Muldoon was a really good teacher, and their class was super fun. It wasn't too hard, and I liked how they mixed online lessons with hands-on projects. The online stuff made it easy to follow along, and the projects let us be creative and try new things. Overall, it was a fun and easy class, and I'd definitely recommend it!

This class was extremely difficult for me, but it wasn't Dr. Astle's fault. I've always struggled with art and it took me a while to finish up assignments in his class, however he was extremely understanding and provided good criticism (for the most part) when you asked him too. If you're aiming to learn the basics of drawing, take his class.

I think Brian is an amazing art teacher he's fun but he's clear and blunt about what he expects, some stuff he is tough on grading but as long as he sees your are trying your hardest and you're progressing he's not as tough. I think he's really passionate and knowledgeable about art which helps us students stay engaged.

This class was a great beginners course for non-majors, its structured in a way that everybody at any level of experience can do well. Attendance matters and so does participation but the assignments are all fairly easy and just require a bit of work. Harrison was super kind and encouraging and I would definitely take another class from her.

The professor is really chill, and supportive of your work. If you are able to get your assignments done, and able to follow what he has told you, everything should end up going ok.

Brian did a really good job teaching Digital Art-2120 to us students. He would demonstrate new material on the board and we would follow along to learn, and we had plenty of in-class time to work on projects. The material wasn't hard to convey, and yet Brian made sure we would all understand and he would answer every question we had. It was nice!

Professor Astle's Digital Art class was a wonderful experience. He did a great job introducing tools and letting us tailor the projects adjacent to our career goals. I developed two different portfolio pieces in that class. The only feedback I have is that some of the material in Illustrator and AE was hard to self-study with. Great class. 100%.

Throughout class periods he'll check in to see how everyone is doing, and he provides structured breaks for longer classes. The workload is manageable if you come to class and spend a few hours on your own on homework.
