Amazing teacher! I am a marketing major and I will take any other marketing class he teachers. You do have to put in work for the class but he makes you want to do it. All you have to do is read the chapters weekly and you will get an easy A! Exams are done in computer lab, just read questions carefully and stay calm, seem harder then they are!
He's a really cool dude. Very down to earth about expectations. He's funny, helpful, and an all-around awesome professor. I would definitely recommend him for MKTG 101. He kept the class interesting; so much so that I almost switched my concentration to marketing.
He is a kind teacher and respects students. Tests are a little difficult (3), some homework, one big group project (randomly assigned group), takes attendance with clickers and participation points the same way. Textbook only really necessary for 10 out of 50 questions on test. Fairly easy grader, always willing to help students. Many powerpoints.
Prof Baldus is defintely one of the best business professors we have in Sac State. I failed a MKTG101 course before taking Brian, bc it was HORRIBLE! With Prof Baldus, he makes MKTG very interesting. His lectures are engaging; Brian walks us through the entire group work; exams are fair if you study from his study guide. Take him! He's a rockstar!
Brian is an awesome prof that tries his best to engage students and provide current and relevant examples of course topics. Tests and attendance are done thru clickers. Various hw, 3 exams and a semester group project. Hope to get a good randomly assigned group. Several class days are reserved for working on it. Lots of extra credit chances.
Brian is the most amazing mktg prof, because he is involved in making the business program better and always encourages his students for feedback. Group project was great, because he actually walks you through every step, unlike many other professors. Tests weren't too hard, because he gives a thorough study guide. He is very inspiring; take him!
Prof. Baldus is very clear about his expectations since day one. His PowerPpoint presentations are engaging. Will need to buy a clicker and a textbook. You will have to turn in a Marketing Plan that you will work on throughout the semester with your randomly selected group. Gives a great study guide-3 exams, survey q's as homework. Great class!!
Class is structured well and your grade depends on basically 3 tests and one 200 point group project. The group project was a nightmare for me because of my bad group. Get a good "randomly selected" group and you will do great. The project takes the whole semester to finish but you have time for it. His tests are always 50 questions in 50 minutes.
Brian is always there for the students, attendance is mandatory but class is entertaining. I actually enjoyed reading the textbook. He is almost always in his office and willing to provide help. His tests are hard and he gives a 20+ page study guide. Super funny and relateable. Uses real world examples.
I hate this class. RIDICULOUS amount of work it's like he thought we all took 1 class this semester and it was his. This class will take up all of your time, stress you out, and make you cry prob once or twice. The group project is ridiculous. He's extremely passionate and thats very cool, he's a cool/funny guy. fun class, really tough.
Didn't like this class. Professor makes lecture fun and it's clear he really enjoys what's teaching. However, the group project is awful. A seven-person group is bad enough but when two group members are completely inept it gets even worse. Didn't find the class hard, just went over the study guides and did fine on the exams. Graded attendance.

Lectures are always rushed because he expects you to know the subject when walking into his class. Tries to be tech savvy but ends up being overwhelming and unorganized. AGAIN, DO NOT TAKE!!!!!!
This is hybrid class which means that you have to attend online class. This part is freaking me out since I often got problem when response to these quick questions for some certain reasons such as interruption of internet. But the professor does not care about it any all.
Very good professor! Highly recommend him. This professor really cares about his students. He listens and makes sure his students have relevant content. GREAT GUY! If you actually want to learn take his class.

VERY VERY HARD EXAMS!!!!! Lectures powerpoints don't always match the book, but he requires you to know both for the exams. No study guides are given & it's very difficult to make one because there is a ton of information from lectures & book also. Cool guy but, I didn't learn anything & hated this class. I wish I got the other Professor I wanted.
Baldus is an ok teacher. His lectures are long and he tends to go thru them quickly which requires a lot of at home studying. He also required us to do an insane video project but he might take it out because there were so many complaints. All in all, exams are tough and there's HW, TopHat, and group project. Decent class.
This is hands down one of the best classes I have taken in college so far. There is a marketing group project that is extremely time consuming but was actually my favorite part of the whole course. You have a few tests, and attendance is taken through tophat, so yes attendance is important! Overall, Prof. Baldus teaches great! Take it!
Prof. Baldus is an awesome guy. However, his tests are some of the hardest I've taken in college. I probably put in 10+ hours of studying before the exams and received a C every time. If it weren't for the extremely difficult tests I would take him again in a heartbeat. Attendance is important.
He is probably the best professor I have ever had. His office hours are so easy to sign up for. He has helped me with many things and is always wanting to help. He cares so much about his students and you see that through his teaching. If you aren't clear about anything, just go see him. He works from the book and from his lectures so read the book
Ambiguous and unclear teaching style on a vast, broad amount of material. A nightmare to study for, unnecessarily difficult. Take if you want to play Russian roulette with your grade. Studying for days didnt help me and I tend to get As without trying.
Generally tests off what he says in class even if it conflicts with the book. Spotty internet lost participation on TopHat. Google how to manipulate CATME and use it to your advantage. Pick your group wisely because they will pick your grade, no joke. Document everything. Better yet, don't take this professor, I regretted it. 1st B since grade 2.
Really really regret taking this class!! Tests are some of the most difficult you can think of AND he's a tough grader. His projects can take a crazy amount of time and energy, good luck focusing on any of your other classes!!
Professor Brian is amazing! He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Projects are time consuming however if you get into it, it really isn't that bad. His exams are difficult if you do not put in the time to study however if you look through the slides and skim through the book you should be good to go! One of the best profs at CSUS!
Very difficult and time-consuming for an introductory course. Workload seemed 5x more compared to other classes. Covers so much material between the textbook and ppts, retention seems to suffer greatly. Could be 1 point away from the next grade and he doesn't round up. Group members can determine your final grade through a complicated peer review.
i had him two semesters before. Made me hate the class and dread him becasue his tests, group project, and lectures sucked so much. And he made you use top hat YIKES. Take any other professor available.
Hes nice, but out of touch and holds an unrealistic expectation of students. Tries to cram a crazy amount of info into the course and expects you to memorize it. His tests are very hard even when you study and memorize the terms and concepts because he words the questions in a confusing way to trick you. Avoid at all cost!
I really tried to like him but this class was brutal. Grades attendance heavily. I read the whole book, made 200+ flash cards, studied his slides and memorized the key terms and still averaged a C+ on his exams. The group project took WAY too much time and effort. The peer review can go very wrong!! I wish I had any other professor.
The subject isn't hard, what makes this class difficult is HIM. In order to do well on his tests, you have to practically memorize the textbook AND his slides AND decipher his questions correctly under an intense time constraint. If you go to him with a problem, he won't care or budge. Only B I've gotten at Sac State in three years.
Lecture heavy, test questions are incoherent; found him NOT caring, hilarious or respected. This class was a nightmare and a sick joke. You can be a genius, do everything right and not get an A, or be an incompetent fool and get an A. While he is accessible outside of class, it will just be a waste of time and you will leave hopeless and frustrated
This class was horrible! I regret signing up for it and you will too. He must think students dont need sleep, jobs or families with how much he expects from us.
Here is the real tea sis. Professor Baldus is a great professor, he ain't that easy but also not hard. He assigns hella things but they aren't difficult. You make your own study guide (he doesn't give one) as an assignment so be prepared when those exams come around. HE SOMETIMES USES TRICK QUESTIONS. MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WTF THE MATERIAL COVERS.
Tests are tough. Lectures are good if paired with book reading. Here's the catch: HUGE real life mktg plan as group project. Grades the thing like you're expert mktg execs instead of entry level students. Unclear direction on mktg plan. Busted my butt w/ a group that slacked, and I still received an F on the group project. Almost failed the class.
I showed up to each class on time, studied hard before each test and put a whole lot of effort in assignments and still couldn't get an A. This was a first for me.
This class made me hate digital marketing. It shows what can go wrong digitally, TO YOUR GRADE! Uses Top Hat for graded questions when the answers are subjective and there is only one right answer, and if the WiFi isnt working and you know the answer, too bad. Test questions are tricky and its less than one minute per question. RUN AWAY!!
Definitely my least favorite prof at CSUS. He's doesnt come across as caring and his exams are needlessly hard. I regret taking class with him.
If you show up to class (which you need to for Top Hat points) you'll get a lot out of this class! Class activities were relevant to digital marketing currently rather than just the book. No group project (yay!), instead makes you get a DM certification, that you can actually put on a resume! Honestly, was my favorite class this semester
Baldus is one of the most caring people I've ever met. I have personally watched him help students further their careers after interacting in class. If you turn your homework in on time and complete and get B's on the tests there's way more than enough points to get an A.
I'm currently taking this class in the summer. I have not yet received a final grade, but it looks like I'll earn a B+ or A- depending on how I do on the final next week. Show up to class and do the reading, and the class is simple. The grading is very straightforward. He answers all questions and allows review before the exam. Quizzes are online.
This class can be easy if you do the work. Reading is a must, but the subject isnt difficult. Make sure to attend and engage in every class. This class was a summer course so no group project, but it was as long as you did the hw, read, and studied the slides and your reading notes, youre solid.
Very cool professor, easy A. Read the chapter and print out slides because the test mimics the book and ppt. Tests were fairly easy. 30 Qs. weekly quizzes are online, quizlet has every single answer. Attendance is mandatory bc tophat. Summer course doesn't have a group project. Overall, great professor. Loved the snacks before every exam :)
Brian loves marketing lol. Very passionate, encourages participation and discussion. Tests were easy if you went to class. Book was online. Always funny ad open to any questions, willing to help anyone.
Brian is now one of my favorite professors at CSUS! His lectures are enjoyable. He takes attendance from TopHat, so showing up to class is a must. He discontinued the group project so many people complained about on here. Basically just show up to class and take the exams and you'll definitely pass! He's also very encouraging and understanding.
Amazing professor. Top Hat attendance (show up to class and reflect on your preparation), minimal/doable group assignments, very fair workload, and truly a feedback-based class. Tries his best to make lectures interesting. Flexible scheduling. He's for the students. Take him.
One of the best professors I have ever had! I had Baldus for MKTG 129 and MKTG 130. He really cares about his students and will give you every opportunity to succeed. His lectures are engaging and he explains the concepts really well. As long as you do all the assignments you will for sure pass the class.
He really cares and puts so much time and effort into teaching. He assigns some creative and fun marketing assignments.
Do not take this class if you are a full time student with a job! He never stops assigning work not even before test! The work he assigns is very difficult with very little instruction. He seems like a nice guy but his workload is unreasonable.
Negative reviews for this professor make no sense to me. One of the most organized and straightforward classes I have ever taken. Every chapter has its corresponding reading quiz, assignment, and case study but they are easy assignments and he breaks them up over the span of 2 weeks. No final, easy exams, and very clear and fun lectures.
He really is passionate about what he teaches and makes it enjoyable. Was always accessible outside of class, and wants everyone to do well. Only thing is that exams are kinda hard but they are not weighted super heavy in this class. A solid choice.
If youre taking Digital Marketing you need to take it with Baldus!! Theres an individual project surrounding your new business idea that lasts the whole semester but it is not busy work and youll learn a lot from it. He provides a PDF of the textbook for free. Definitely the best prof Ive had in the marketing department!
Easy A. He is very organized and has each class planned out. All quizzes, hw, and tests were on Quizlet. Just make sure you stay on top of the deadlines for the quizzes and hw, as it is very time sensitive. Take him!
He is a shame for CSUC-Sacramento. I'm a C-Suite executive with over 20 years of experience, joined the MBA program to enhance executive skills. He should not be allowed to teach any masters programs. He is the complete BS. I graduated the program receiving As or A- on all subjects except his class. So the problem is this professor not a student.
I loved Professor Baldus. He made lectures interesting and encouraged participation. I took him over the summer and honestly learned a lot in a short amount of time. The reading questions were quite lengthy though and took me a couple days to complete since I would do a few questions everyday up until the day they were due. Overall, it was great.
Brian is a good prof. For digital marketing the semester long project does take some effort and time but the criteria is clear. He's a pretty fair grader, just make sure to review the assignment criteria before you turn stuff in. A lot of the work is front loaded. 5 exams, not super hard just study lecture material. He doesn't weight them heavy.
Take this class for MKTG101! This class is an in-person class, but blocks out one day out of the meetings for an asynchronous day so basically this class is once a week. Homework and tests are all online. He is a great teacher and makes lecture enjoyable! Everything is every organized and straightforward.
TAKE HIM! Just come to class when it's scheduled. Since its hybrid your grade will be docked if you don't attend. Exams and homework and very easy, this was my easiest class of the semester! He's very humorous and doesn't bore you during lectures.

This professor is amazing! All assignments/tests are online, and the workload is pretty light. Some weeks class would be asynchronous, and other weeks it wouldn't be. MAKE SURE TO GO TO CLASS!! Attendance matters & is a large part of your grade. Take this class!

This class has A LOT of hw but you just have to be smart about it (hint hint). -HW: 1-2 ch quizzes (unlimited time + 3 attempts); 1-2 Overview assg (10q- 25 min); 1-2 cases (a video or text ~ 7q_unlimited time) -5 Exams: online_30q/30 min_ can't use the back button. | -EC: free points for "reading the chapters" -SLAV Approved
He has a poor grading system where if you go over a timed quiz but one little minute you are deducted half your points. Completely unfair and unprofessional. Knowing your material means nothing apparently if going over by one minute means so much more to this professor. It takes time to load up the quiz and exit off this should be reviewed.
Only complaint is how attendance is graded. Other than that loved this summer class and class mates. Great teacher he is very funny. Exams are easy (5 in summer) super easy 30 questions. NO CASE STUDIES (super nice compared to other MKTG 101 classes) super down to earth and funny guy. 1 hw and 1 concept quiz. Both are 10 questions one is timed (30 min) one is unlimited. Exams there is 5 (30 questions per thirty minute) be smart (hint) about homework and exams and you will do fine. Great guy! Super funny & likes to teach. Lots of EC
He was nicer in 101 than in 130. He's rude and a little passive-aggressive. An insane amount of homework every week but he's a little lenient when you ask him to push it off (a class effort though). His instructions don't match up to the software because he never updates it and you gotta follow the instructions to a T. Doable but a lot of work.
WORST professor for IMBA program. Comes off as a reasonable person but is passive aggressive. Instructions and grading rubric are entirely different and he doesn't clarify anything. Then their is favoritism that takes the cake. If you are someone who doesn't ask a lot of questions your grade will suffer because HOW CAN YOU learn just by listening.
I would recommend CSUS to remove him from MBA program. He does not treat his students like professionals but like high school students. If you have some personal issues, do not bother going to him, he is no help regardless of what he says. Feels a little apathetic at times.
One of the few professors at Sac State who needs to revise his teaching methods. A lot of knowledge but does not know how to effectively communicate that to his students which is his main job. Skip him if you can. Very rude when you ask him anything about how your paper is graded paper. Multiple students in my class had similar experience.
Avoid him if you can. He doesn't have a proper class structure and doesn't communicate with his students effectively about his grading criteria. Gives same rehearsed answers to all the questions.
Great professor, has passion and enthusiasm for the subject. The class was pretty easy as long as you attend every class. The majority of the grade is assignments and in class case studies. I highly recommend you take him he's nice and cares about his students.

Unclear on what he wants and talks nonsense. Grades you the way he likes not of his rubrics. Made some of people want to cry because of his teaching and toughness for no reason.

Unnecessarily tough in what's supposed to be an introductory marketing class. Possibly uses AI for his exam questions which make no sense and hardly relates to his lecture slides. I suggest taking another professor for this class if you can. If not, form a study group and invest in AI maybe.
I would suggest taking another professor for this class. Very tough for an introductory class. Exams are on 5 chapters each so very dense in material per exam. Exam questions are vague and don't correlate well to lecture material.

Omg. I hate this class with a passion. I thought marketing would be fun but no. He makes this class so hard for no reason. The exams are ridiculously hard. 5-6 chapters per exam and you only get 1 minute per question. Like it's just an intro to marketing!!! Attendance is also required, and he won't take any excuse for being absent.
Horrible! Omg just horrible. Uses Artificial intelligence for exams. Exams are difficult and do not pertain to any information he reads off from his slides. Very monotone. Does not care about students and their success. He is boring. Asked for ways to improve from exams and he gives the same response that does not help. If u want an A/B stay clear
His tests are very hard and he doesn't give you anything to use on the test. He doesn't provide a study guide to prepare for exams. He is not understanding whatsoever. I missed a test due to being sick which I had a doctors note for, and he DID NOT let me do a makeup for at least any partial credit. My B+ dropped to a F and I'll most likely retake

Attendance is worth too much points. Skip a few and you almost lose a whole letter grade. His lecture is informative and he seems like a cool professor until exam. He made it extra hard for no reason. He made you wait and assigned a seat based on alphabet,which is time consuming and but some people at the back can easily cheat.

An inadequate teacher. Lessons are listed in his syllabus, but the actual presentations don't correlate to the exams given during the course. Exams don't relate to what we learn in class and many questions are confusing. Questions on the exam were generated using AI. Exam avg. was around 70%. Attendance is mandatory. This was the worst course I've taken. For an intro marketing class, the material feels suited for marketing majors as opposed to anyone else. Attendance is mandatory! Book notes won't help on exams, and lecture notes aren't posted until after class. Exams are AI-generated and unclear. If you're considering this course, steer clear.

Mr. Baldus is one of the most challenging professors I've ever had. He teaches in a very old-school manner, and his exams are extremely difficult, often including material not covered in class. He uses AI to design his exams and tends to be rude and dismissive of students' ideas. I wouldn't recommend taking his class.
The professor assigns an overwhelming amount of reading, even just two days before an exam, making it difficult to keep up. Attendance is extremely inflexible, and missing even a couple of classes can significantly impact your grade. Weekly group projects add to the workload, and the exams are brutal—60 paragrapgh length questions in 60 minutes.

Just experienced my first exam experience and by far the most extra I have seen a professor be. The exam seemed like it was written by chat gpt. The questions were overly wordy. If business communications is a requirement for the students I think professors should abide by it as well. I've seen high schoolers with better writing skills.

Professor Baldus is a very kind and dedicated professor. He's particular how assignments are done so pay attention to directions. There are mini group projects throughout the semester. He gave our class a lot of extra credits which helped. He is always willing to help and answer any questions you have for him. Making friends in the class will help.
Baldus is cool. Attendance is mandatory so show up to every class or your grade will suffer. His lectures are pretty good i guess. The only gripe I had with the class was that basically everything was AI generated. Tests, lecture slides, assignments. Literally everything, which kinda rubs me the wrong way but it didn't end up affecting my grade.
This professor is overly strict and treats students like kids. Random seats, paper exams, backpacks at front of class during ecam. Lectures are vague, few assignments, and unclear directions. You'll teach yourself to pass. Makes all his materials with ai, yet is so anal and strict about ai, strict on attendance, and unreasonable on sick policy.
Lectures are painfully vague, with little to no homework or examples. Exams are strict and tricky, forcing you to teach yourself everything from the textbook. He grades fairly but doesn't actually help you learn. For someone obsessed with attendance, he sure doesn't do much teaching.
