I loved this professor! He's passionate about science and that comes through in his lectures. I would definitely take one of his classes again.

Awesome guy and knows biology and reptiles (he's a expert on salamanders in the Ozarks). He will sometimes surprise the students and cancel class. You'll learn a lot of interesting stuff.

Professor Becker is an expert in his field. He used to do the labs and he knows the material. I've enjoyed his lectures.

After reading the reviews I've seen here I highly disagree with those that are negative toward him. Becker teaches a challenging class but does everything in his power to make it simple for students. He gives so many extra credit opportunities and he never has tested over material he hasn't covered. The sweetest teacher!

This was Becker's first year teaching at the UofA. He loves class participation and is very knowledgeable in his field. I wish that he did assignments so that would boost our grade, but he does offer a great amount of extra credit on exams and throughout the course. Take him, he teaches the material to the best of his ability. Great professor.

okay so i only has Becker for university perspectives... but as a person and professor (even though i think its a pointless course) he was very kind and enthusiastic. Although, there was one unnecessary lengthy group project. I cannot speak on behalf of his biology courses though.

Brian is a very nice and caring professor. He tends to get behind on content and rambles in lectures with lots of extra info when in reality the tests are all based off of what is written on the PowerPoints, no need to get the textbook. This class is difficult because of how much content is covered but it is not impossible just study in advance.

Becker really is not bad. He does ramble a bit and it is a very difficult course, but his tests are very straight forward as long as you study his powerpoints in DETAIL. Studying takes a long time if you want to do well just because you need to make sure you study thoroughly. He gives lots of extra credit to give you some room to wiggle.

If you didn't like Becker as a professor, it is likely because you didn't study correctly for a high level science course. I retook this class and found that my past failure was 100% fault of my own. Becker is excellent, caring, and will do his best to give you opportunities to pass with extra credit. Study hard or you will not pass. That's that.

Rambles in lecture but tests are pretty much straight from powerpoints which he posts. Don't have to read textbook to do good, just be sure to study the slides in detail since there is a lot of material. Doesn't give extra credit so studying is important. Attendance is not mandatory and most of the class stops showing up after like a month.

Becker is honestly a good professor who cares about our success and is willing to move tests if needed; there honestly is just no easy way to teach college anatomy. BUT his tests are pretty straight forward. Best advice I can give is to study what he covers in class EACH DAY, if you don't then studying for tests will be overwhelming (but doable)

Professor Becker is a great professor. Any poor comments against him are from people who did not try in the class. He gives out so much bonus (a whole letter grade worth) such that it is almost too easy to succeed. Becker is always helping as much as possible. If you try at all, there's no reason not to come out with the grade you want.

College anatomy is a very difficult course. there's only so much a professor can do for you. In the end, it really depends on you as an individual to put the time and effort aside for raw memorization. Dr. Becker gives you all of the tools you need to succeed - his exams are entirely based on his lecture. Lots of bonus point opportunities as well.

he can be lenient with test dates and extra credit. read the textbook because that's what helped me the most even though it's time-consuming. he would get behind in lectures and put half a slideshow on one test, and the other on the next test so it was hard to keep up

Becker is a very knowledgeable professor who wants his students to succeed. The nature of the course is extremely difficult so participation and reading your textbook matter. The course moves quickly but Becker explains the material pretty clearly. There's a ton of extra credit on every exam, quiz, and software test. Overall, great professor.

you will succeed in Brian's class if you put in an average amount of time studying. Reading the textbook wasnt necessary for me to succeed, but Brian recommends it. Overall, show up to class and pay attention and you will succeed.

Your grade is made up by only quizzes and tests. Attendance is not mandatory, but you need to put in the time outside of class to study in order to do well. The lab was harder than the lecture in my opinion - it was my hardest lab so far with a difficult test format. He is willing to help and offers extra credit on all exams.

He was great and provides many opportunities for extra credit. There are a lot of tests in this class and in the lab so be prepared for that. Usually the lecture tests aren't too hard though.

brian is a pretty good teacher, knows what he is talking about, but goes pretty fast through the material sometimes, especially towards the end when nearing an exam. your grade is based off quizzes and exams, but quizzes are easy and taken before exams, and all quiz questions are on exam. not a super hard class, just study before exams and ur good.

He does his job very well, honestly, but the course itself is a pain. The class size is too large for him to truly experiment with the course beyond "learn the material, take the tests, get the grade." You can borderline skip the lectures all year, though, and still get an A off the slides alone, with supplemental textbook reading for review.

If you know you are a good student, do not be scared to take anatomy. I have over a 100 in the class right now and it is way easier than I thought. I will say lab is harder than lecture. Dr. Becker really knows what he's talking about and if you go to class and study like one day before, you will do fine. Tests are online using webcam

DENSE class, especially during the summer. Both his lecture & READING THE TEXT can be boring & tedious, but you can take a lot away from this course. Know what works best for your study methods, everyone learns & retains information differently. The lab is a challenge but their tests are very straightforward. Be diligent & you will be fine.

Becker is honestly a good teacher, but the class structure that the University requires is horrible and this is by far the hardest class I've ever taken. There are a few quizzes to help study before exams, but basically all of your points will come from exams. He has office hours and tries to help as much as he can.

DR. BECKER IS THE BEST!! He is the most forgiving professor I've ever had at uark. I was struggling with this class and quite literally balled in his office hours after failing three exams. He's just so understanding that people have lives and that it takes time to change study habits. Because of him, I increased every exam. Love this man.

He is an ideal professor. He does not throw curveballs at you and you know exactly what to expect on his exams if you go through the lecture slides. The only reason you would get a bad grade is not reading his emails or not spending enough time studying. This is a hard class, but very doable, and especially with the PLENTIFUL EXTRA CREDIT he gives.

Go to class!!! The exams are based off lectures. There is a lot to cover but as long as you show up to class, take notes, and take time to study then you'll be good! He's very open to answering any questions you may have and willing to meet up with you if you need any help. He's passionate about anatomy and cares about his students succeeding!

Dr. Becker is an excellent professor. Go over PowerPoints and READ. This is of course a very difficult course and lectures can be boring, but you will benefit. And no, he does not wear the same outfit everyday LOL

Dr. Becker was amazing. I am someone who really struggles with sciences and came into school saving my D for anatomy (scholarship requires higher GPA). Dr. Becker made this class enjoyable. It was REALLY hard but I have never been pushed to understand something like that. Go to office hours! I took it in 5 weeks. If I can do it, you can!

Honestly a very good teacher very passionate and knowledgeable. Definitely a hard class and you will need to study I usually don't have trouble in classes ever as a STEM major but this class definitely was hard. The lab was also really hard. Be ready to take notes and read a lot. Also your grade is pretty much all tests.

Very difficult class just due to him only having tests for grades and nothing else. He's unclear about what specifically to study most of the time and gives broad answers. very knowledgeable but very boring lecture

I just studied based off lecture slides. Lots of memorization. Watch YT and use websites "GetBodySmart" to help you. Lab was like taking another anatomy class (rabbit, cow, pig) and extremely difficult. Do not memorize things under several layers of skins just things you can see. Start memorizing early!

Professor Becker is really nice and an okay teacher, but sometimes rambles. The class itself has a lot of content, but all tests come from powerpoint lecture slides. this course is just hard & that's how it is. Most people don't do well because they've never taken a class they actually have to work for. Don't complain if you aren't trying hard enough. The only thing you are graded on are quizzes & exams. there are NO participation points or homework grades. HE offers loads of extra credit at the end of the sem

Had him for anatomy and honestly the people who complain about this class just don't show up. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you go he often gives out extra credit and explains things in depth that won't be on his slides but will be on exams. I went to every class and I made an A on every exam. He's very nice idk why people hate him so much

Exam heavy, went to every class and still struggled on the exams. Would be better with study guides but all in all you should be able to get a B as long as you show up and pay attention. (Can be a bit boring and sometimes hard to hear)

Hard class but doable to get an A. I ended with a high A and only went to class the first week. There are quizlets online that are ‘very similar'… to the exams. Brian is very knowledgeable about Anatomy and gives a ton of extra credit, especially towards the end of the semester. Was also 20 bonus points on the final.

Ask for extra credit and he will give it. He gave so much extra credit it was insane. Attendance not required and I NEVER EVER paid attention and got an A+ on every test. The questions on the practice test are literally copied and pasted onto the actual exam. Questions that aren't from the practice test are straight from the study guide.

This class requires a lot of studying, but you will come out knowing human anatomy like a pro if you do. Your grade is almost entirely exams, of which we had 5 + the final, but he offered 30+ points of bonus which really helped my grade. His lectures are very informative, and he occasionally posts slides with a recorded voiceover which was nice.

Anyone who did poor in anatomy, didn't care for the class. Show up to class and pay attention and you will do just fine. The class is purely memorization and there is stuff on the tests that aren't in the slides but he discusses them in class. Have a one on one convo with him, he is extremely smart and really cares for his students. EXTRA CREDIT!!

Becker is the MANNNN. Love this guy. he is genuinely so interested in what he teaches and is passionate about sharing it with us students. Going to hours is not only helpful but fun! TAKE THIS CLASS. class isn't going to be easy if you don't try, but if you put in the work, it will be fine. you will be fine. labs are a bit more difficult, though.

I love Prof Becker. I wish he taught more of the classes that I need to take. He is very helpful especially in office hours. He is extremely knowledgeable on what he teaches and his excitement for it is contagious. he is also very funny. although attendance isn't mandatory i always went and found it very helpful.

Attendance was not mandatory which was nice. He had LOTS of bonus points to offer all throughout the semester. His lectures were somewhat helpful if I listened. A lot of the test questions come from the quizzes and random quizlets online, but also a lot of really random ones. Overall, you need to work harder in this class than you realize!
