Great sense of humor and relaxed atmosphere in class. A little loose on structure but I like that in a class envirionment if the other students don't go nuts with it. Her taught well, despite the fact that I have to retake the class by a sliver.

He is my favorite teacher at SRJC. He presented the material clearly and with a sense of humor, was always available for help and never made you feel "dumb" for asking. Anyone with math anxiety should take his class.

Great teacher. He's so layed back. Goes over homework everyday and will go over unlimited problems from homework. Tests are not very hard, he takes away your lowest test score. Hes funny and makes jokes!

Brian is the most loose, "it's all good" teacher. He'll take your suggestions. Funny guy. You can't help but laugh. Take his class if math scres you and you don't want to be put on the spot. The book suuuuucks so if you don't understand something, ask Brian. He'll break it down for you in English- interpret the problem so you actualy understand.

Great teacher, good study guides and no quizes. Homework is regular but grades on completion only, not correct answers. 4 tests and a finnal which counts twice. 1 test can be substituted for finnal grade ! He is very playful and fun. He was my style, and I'm not expiorienced with math, though he is a little casual for some .

Brian is the BEST teacher I have ever had! He made math (a subject I hate!) fun!! He is funny and always cheerful. His tests are challenging but you know what to expect beforehand so studying is focused. SRJC should know that Brian is a gem!!!!!

Brian is a great teacher. He's patient, funny, and genuinely interested in helping his students succeed (inspirational). This can be a challenging course for some of us. The tests are related directly to the work and reviews given. He really did help me understand and enjoy the class. I highly reccommend his class.

he's a good teacher but you can easily get lost if you don't show up to class....homework almost everyday and even two assignments a class but mostly odd questions...no notes on tests but he's great with review test...overall great experience

BEST math teacher! He's super nice and tries really hard to be funny :-) 1 quiz at the beginning of class from the material you covered the class before. You can easily miss classes and cover it yourself from the book. He even admits that most teachers at the JC are too hard...take math from Brian!

Brian was the best math teacher I ever had. He was easy going, funny, and good at what he does. I missed a few classes and was still able to keep up. The only thing was that he didn't allow any notes on the tests, which was difficult for me. But I still passed, and I would still recommend him.

Very clear. He shows you several different methods for solving a problem but always promotes the easiest. He doesn't show off, or condescend. He teaches math with an aim of helping students learn exactly what they need to know.

Very laid back and super helpful. I hate math and I took this during the summer but he made it much eaiser and even fun at times. He's got this nerdy cheesy sense of humor that absolutely KILLS me! I love when he laughs at his own jokes and then if no one else gets it he tries to explain it... priceless! LOL

Brian always has a smile and you can immediately tell he loves teaching. Lectures are clear, to the point, and he's never condescending if you have any questions. This class was at 7 am and only Brian could keep my attention for the entire statistics lecture. Oh yeah, he tries really hard to make the class laugh! You gotta love this guy.

Omg I have never had such a good math teacher. He was great, lecture was so clear, if you take all the notes you will pass... Tests were super easy bc you got to take a page of notes! If you show up take notes and do the daily homework... easy A

Overall, good teacher. Lot's of homework, but duh...it's math! No notes on test, but he hands out a review which is very similar to the test. I hate math and did really well. He's kind of like a big goof, but funny.

Brian Blackburn is an excellent math instructor. I struggle quite a bit with math, and the fact that I was taking calculus didn't help things, but with his clarity and great teaching style, I was able to pull off an A in the class.

Brian was an excellent teacher. I was dreading taking a math class (my hardest subject)... not with Blackburn. He explains math in a way that is just plain easy to understand. The first time I have ever received an "A" in a math class. Everyone I have talked to that has taken his class was impressed. Highly recommend this teacher.

Brian is great! I plan to take him for the remaining math classes I have. Do the homework every day. He does a wonderful review the day before the exam, and as long as you pay attention in class, you should be fine. Ask questions, and he will help you answer them. I highly recommend Brian!

His ultimate goal is for you to understand the material, not to trick you or assign you too much h/w. Starts every class with answering h/w questions, and if you don't do it you will be very lost! You're allowed a sheet of notes for tests (if you need it).. he really wants you to get stats!! and he's funny. no drama! good class...take him!

I SUCK at math and was freaked being a returning adult student. Brian made class seem so easy. He explained things slowly and easy and made sure to have funny stories to get our attention. Wish I could have him this semester. I think having dyslexia gives him an understanding of different ways that people need to learn. I will miss him!

I like brian he is a good guy. Go to class and do all the homework. The first couples of test are hard so prepare, then they will get easer so stay with it. He likes math at the end who will to.

This guy is the Bomb. I avoided Algebra for decades but Mr. Blackburn connected all the dots for me. He's definitely twisted but in all the right places. It's a crime he's not full time. Mr. Blackburn will give you a whole new perspective on math.

Best teacher I have ever had. I barely passed math in high school & entered this class not having taken math in 6 years. I was SO nervous entering this class, but he is hilarious, engaging, & makes me feel confident in my math abilities. I never thought I'd look forward to math class. Like someone else said, it's a crime that he's not full time.

Blackburn's a stud he knows how to make math easy and explains everything as best as possible. He made this one of the easiest classes I've ever taken in college and I actually left learning a lot. Definetly not a teacher who will remember your name and be all warm and cuddly, but he's super easy to work with and learn difficult concepts from. Doesn't take offense to students who exclaim "wait a minute! Back it up! I don't know what you are talking about!". Didn't attend most classes (except test days) and he never noticed (and I ended up with an A). Wish he taught more classes....

Blackburn is truly an exceptional teacher. Makes class funny and borderline enjoyable, which isn't the easiest thing to do when the subject is math! He is always willing to help during office hours and clearly wants his students to succeed.

Blackburn is excellent Statistic/Math instructor. He has a special and talent way to teach science class. He explain thing and organize class material very well. He is very humorous, very helpful and very efficient in everything so we do not need to need text book! We really need more instructors like that in science class of SRJC

Brian kept the class fun and interesting. If you take notes, show up, and ask questions, you'll do well. Brian himself is hilarious... especially when he would throw subtle shade at the (usually absent) girls who sat in the corner and clearly hadn't graduated from their high school mentality. Highly reccomended! MyMathLab is also a plus.

Formulas are crucial!! Overall he just requires you to do the homework and if you study hard for the tests the class becomes so much easier.

Blackburn is a very helpful instructor. Not only were his lessons fun and easy, his character placed onto the class is high. His office hours are easy to access. You could pass the class with only the textbook. Overall, he is funny and a beast. If you were to add him, you will be considered lucky and have a high advantage in mathematics.

I was dreading taking stats because I have never been good at math but this was class was sooo easy. Everything he covers on the review day is on the tests. He is super cool and chill. I wish I would of tooken him earlier. He is very clear and helpful, definitely1034 a passable class if you do all the work

I absolutely hate math and have never been good. He is very clear on how to do the problems, and if you don't understand he will go back over it. Homework is not a big part of your grade, he gives 100% on them no matter what. He has a review day before the tests which is always very helpful. Overall he's a pretty good math teacher!

He is very clear with his lectures, grades homework based on if you turn it in or not, and has review days before each test that covers exactly what the test will have on it. Not to mention he's a fair grader! The class consists of 3 tests, one project, and a final. Overall a very easy and enjoyable class and teacher!

Professor Blackburn was a good teacher overall. His tests were hard for people who don't like math but not for math people. Lectures were a little slow for me. Always goes over what will be on the test the class before. Homework is turned in everyday and just graded out 10 if you did it. Missing a class could mean failing the next test beware.

Exceptional teacher! I took stats twice before and hated it and did not do well. Since coming into his class a has changed! Expect homework 3 tests and a project and final. Review days are awesome. Great great teacher wish thefe was more like him!

He's such a nice teacher and I took this class in the summer and it was very easy. He teaches very clear and makes the topic easy. He really doesn't care if you're paying attention. I was mostly on my phone and understood the class perfectly. Great teacher. Would recommend.

Teacher is great. Very clear. Inspirational, will most likely take another math class from him. We were able to use a double sheet of paper for our test. He is approachable and easy to talk to.

Great teacher. Very effective in getting to the basics of Stats--doesn't get overly involved in theory, just wants students to grasp the main concepts. He doesn't take roll, but I highly recommend not skipping class since it's easy to get lost. You get what you put into this class and Mr Blackburn is available to help if you ask.

Typically I do terrible in math, but Mr. Blackburn made it easy. He goes over hw problems that you don't understand. He clearly describes how to do problems. He jokes sometimes, but it makes math a little less intimidating. The study guides he gives help tremendously in prepping for the test, I would definitely take again

If you're really good at studying and taking tests, take him. Literally the amount of homework you do is a lot, but when it comes to the tests, they're a complete joke. You can just go into them without even attending class, but you should if you want to learn calculator stuff.

I enrolled in Blackburn's class Fall of 2015. Blackburn's teaching method is exactly the type which makes me understand math. I require comedic relief as we are learning about material and he provided it. Also he has study guides, which is a tool I need in a math class. Study for tests, complete all homework and show you want to learn.

Brian Blackburn has help me very much in math. He gets straight to the point without any extra confusion. He's always willing to help his students after class and is very good about complete what he says each day. Organization is very good when it comes to his teacher of the class. His notes are the best. I took his class at 7am and I was still dead asleep when I went to class, so his notes were very helpful. He allows you to turn in homework late and on the tests he lets you use as many notes as you want too. Honestly most flexible and understanding professor. Midterms are worth the most so study for them and you'll pass.

Best math teacher Ive ever taken. Gave great examples and was willing to go over things again and again if it wasn't understood. Had great explanations and different tools for different types of learning. Super nice. Homework every chapter but not graded hard. Tests were short and too the point. Best math class.
