He's very helpful & easy on the eyes which made me come to class.haha
Great professor, you should get an A or B with regular study, the only draw back is that he needs to post to the class announcements more to keep better communication
Took this class online. Pretty easy. Only three tests which makes your grade for the semester. As long as you do the readings, study guide and study for the tests, You should do fine. He also offers extra credit for the course.
Took online. Only 3 tests. Questions are straight from the text book which makes them very easy. Offers small amount of extra credit but you shouldnt even need it. Guarenteed an A or B if you log in for the tests
Tests straight from book. Interesting discussion posts. Writing assignments based more on student opinion than research, very easy. Interesting coursework, teacher is excited about the material. Great class, would suggest as an upper division CRJ elective.
Took for CJ Stats. Was worried at first--Not math person *at all.* Very easy going. Weekly writing assignments. Weekly quizzes straight from notes. Put effort into writings for perfect score. Calms your fears if math isn't strong suite, easy to get ahold of if needed.. All around great guy!
Chapter tests, weekly assignment (easy). Was worried about this class because i've heard bad things about stats, but he made stats easy to understand. Gave great references and if you needed help always willing to help.
Brehman does not teach. He tells you to read a book and then take a test. If a CLEP were available for this class, I would have taken it.
Good instructor. I would definately take another class.
I like Brehman's classes, I take him almost every semester CRJ 100, CRJ 303, CRJ 463 and CRJ 494. His class discussions are thought provoking and sometimes controversial. If you read the book the tests are not bad. CRJ 463 is most difficult, but the test questions are right out of the review section of the book. I learn a lot in his classes.
Very understanding instructor and grades easy. Easy A
It was a great course. I was nervous about taking a stats class, but he made it a lot more understandable. Resources were provided and it was a great class to take. Also, he is a very understanding professor. I would recommend him for any class!
One of my favorite instructors! Always willing to help and grades papers fairly. This class shows you how to apply stats, not just doing formulas. CRJ 511 is a lot like CRJ 303.
Brehman is a great guy, and wants you as a student to succeed. He grades the papers very easy as long as you use the correct format. There was only one test that was difficult, but the overall math is this class is nothing to be overly concerned about.
The class was just ok. He requires writing papers that are a waste of time and really should focus on teaching stats. He placed videos for us to watch rather than any lectures from him. Salman Khan is the real instructor. His grading is a little easy, but his course is doable yet boring.
Very easy. I got 100% on every writing assignment (700 word paper each week). We didn't actually have to do any calculations, we just learned why each process is important and what it tells us about the stats. I didn't learn anything but was glad there was an easy class to counter my tough load this semester.
The professor is very clear, concise, and informative. I was one of those individuals who went into this course expecting the worst. The required textbook makes the class very easy. Overall, I enjoyed the 'structure' of his class - 1 700-1000 word paper and a short question each week. There are no surprises.
Not as scary as I thought. The statistics here were more application in life than doing calculations thankfully. Book was easy to read. Most of the quizzes based off of his Powerpoint slides. Papers fairly graded. Good instructor, kind of standoffish. Didn't really communicate with class, more of just read the syllabus, do the work, turn it in.
Instructor is awesome! He is very laid back and has a great teaching style. Class is not hard and you learn a lot. Tests cover some discussions from lecture so you should attend class. Lectures are far from boring and he is straight to the point. I would highly recommend any course taught by Brian.
This was easily one of my favorite classes this semester. Every week there is either a test or discussion post, alternating weeks. You get more than enough time to take each exam and the exams are pretty easy. He's very fair with grading on both exams & discussion board posts. I would definitely recommend taking any of his classes.
Let me start off by saying if you get a C or possibly even a B in his class you should probably drop out of college, the class is extremely easy. 3 discussion boards. 3 Tests. That's it. Test answers come directly from powerpoints provided. I rented the book, didn't even open it once. Would take any class with him again.
Read the lectures and do discussions boards. Super easy, super interesting.
AWESOME professor. Crystal clear expectations and if you pay attention to lectures, the exam answers are practically given to you. I passed with an A. The whole class is only 3 discussion board posts + responses; and 3 exams so do NOT miss anything!!
Professor is clear. PPT lectures are posted with lots of info. Class is made up of a couple tests and discussion boards. Book is easy to read, but best to buy electronically to search for key terms during test.
I am not a statistics guy, but Professor Brehman made this class manageable (which is saying a lot for a math-dummy like me). Get ready to read and to study the slides because the tests reflect the reading material. Highly recommended instructor.
This was a great class. The only thing I did not like was writing the so called discussions in APA format, no-one else read it, the TA I had was nit picking every little thing. You are on your own when it it comes to the math problems, they can be pretty hard. Over all the class was good and it completed my requirements. He is a good teacher.
This class was great, 3 discussions and 3 tests. If you follow the powerpoints and do the discussions in APA format you will you should pass. The class is straight forward and he and his TA are there for you if you need assistance, even your fellow student assist to.
Discussion boards and a couple exams. Cake! DID NOT USE MY BOOK ONCE.
I plan on taking Brian again for future courses. He is a good teacher! Willing to help and has a sense of humor. I feared this Statistics class, but I passed it with an A and definitely enjoyed it. I learned a lot too. 2 Thumbs up. I look at Stats in a VERY different way now!
Discussions each week (3 total posts) & three tests. Book is important. I learned a lot from this class. This was also the third or fourth class I've taken with Brehman. He's awesome!
Great class!! I learned a lot and I would be glad to take another course by this professor.
Great professor to have in an online class or that is how it seemed in this course. There were SIX quizzes, not hard, but do read the book, powerpoints, and videos. There were SEVEN assignments must be in APA format. No TESTS, DISCUSSION BOARDS, & WRITING ASSIGNMENTS. *I suggested the professor to help us understand the math problems in a video
Great class overall! 3 exams and 3 discussion boards. Exams were tough but I was able to get B+'s with a normal amount of effort. Discussion boards are easy besides citing sources in APA. Really interesting topics and I learned a lot. Not an "easy A" but you honestly get the grade you work for!
Not a very difficult class. There were a total of 6 assignments, 3 discussion board posts and 3 quizzes. The quizzes are mainly from the power points. If you read the chapter and print out the power points getting an a should be no problem.
Amazing professor! He is knowledgeable and answers questions clearly.
Professor Brehman made things very clear and understandable. I am not strong in my math skills but he made a good grade attainable if you pay attention and he will answer any questions in a timely manner loved this class.
Prof Brehman is great. He teaches using current videos and lectures that make it more relatable, instead of using dated material. The book is a must. It really brings down the content to something that is easily understandable. Quiz and a paper in APA format due every week. Read, study the ppt's, put in the work, and a good grade is in reach.
Good typical online class. 1 paper and 1 quiz due every week. It was a clear class and as long as you put effort into everything you do, you should receive an A. The only problem I had was that some of the discussion questions were difficult to answer because the answers were not 100% clear in the resources. Book isn't necessary but really helps.
Have taken a few classes now with Mr. Brehman. He is one of my favorite professors at ASU. Funny and he relates the material to current news. You can pass without coming to class but probably won't get an A... and coming to class is worth it just for the lectures. A few APA FORMAT essays and easy quizzes based on reading and lecture.
Brian is funny and entertaining. His TA graded harsh in the beginning, became less harsh in the middle and then graded harsh again on the very last writing assignment. This inconsistent grading caused me to miss an A by three measly points :(! No need to show up to class most of the time as tests are based off PowerPoints that he uploads.
I took him in the spring when he was better. Now in the fall your lucky if you can get an A+! Lectures are dull. He is a tough grader! Use more sources than what he wants. I did not like how he went from an easy grading scale to super tough! I would not recommend him at all! even if its just papers and quizzes you'll be lucky to pass his class!
Great lectures, makes the class interesting. Do the reading, it's not hard & doesn't take a long time. Four papers, stick to the subject, use required amount of citations, stick to APA, and follow the rubric. Gives feedback on the papers. Three exams, m/c or t/f. Posts power points online. Put an effort into papers & tests and you'll pass.
His lectures are pretty boring and seem to reiterate the something that is talked about in the book. CRJ 225 itself just reiterates the back half of CRJ 101. His tests are super easy although they are pretty length (50?) but there's only like 3 so not bad overall. Two papers were assigned for the whole year expectations were super vague.
Great online course. Professor was very professional. Had coursework outlined, and was very easy to navigate. Course was not difficult because he provided many links outside of class material to help make students successful. Papers were given feedback, and is fair when handing out feedback. Follow instructions, and recommendations A.
His TA is such a strict grader on APA style. Quizzes and content are rough.
I'm not fond of statistics whatsoever. However, Brian did a great job clarifying everything that had to be done each week for this class. I understood everything from his lectures, and his PowerPoints he posted each week are extremely helpful on tests. You'll do great if you pay attention and make sure the writing assignments are done on time!
Lecture were not mandatory but i would still recommend although they can at times be boring. The class consist of 3 exams total and three writing assignments and that is it. Just read the textbook study and do the reading assignments.
Took him for a different class and he wasn't as tough of a grader, but the harder the class the more difficult he is with grading. Gives good examples with stats and helps you understand. Quizes were pretty difficult and so were papers. Each week there is an assignment due either quiz or paper. Reads off lecture for classes.
As a person who hates all math courses, I was incredibly upset when I found out I had to take a stats class. However, Brian did not make it feel like another math class. If you skip his lectures, you absolutely will not pass. 3 exams and 3 papers. Attend his reviews and you will score high. His energy is a lot to handle sometimes, but he means well
session C - great professor - he truly cares about his students and their understanding of the course material. definitely go to class because the book is confusing as heck. there are 3 exams and 3 papers over the course of the class. they are all straight forward and he does exam reviews before every exam which cover basically everything
Routine weekly homework assignments. Exams and essays (three each) will make or break your grade, but the essays are relatively easy if you make your argument sound good. Thought I would struggle with this class but overall it was not that difficult.
Professor Brehman was a great instructor. He went above and beyond with this course. Focuses on sourcing/citations and analysis. You'll be doing an essay every week, homework, and a few big exams. My best advice is don't get behind and find someone near you who can work with you/tutor you. Great job and keep it up!
The TA's he has grading the papers are ridiculous. I got 95 to 100 on the tests and homework. I lost points on the APA format of things that other teachers would normally not take off for.
Online class had little to go on and the teacher was only in name. If you are not the kind of learner to read dry material on your own, DON'T TAKE HIM! No lectures, only homework is handed out and it will be days before the answers are posted. Essay's were graded like an English major and minor mistakes count. Exams are hard, get CHEGG to help.
This is my second time taking him. He is funny but his jokes can fall on deaf ears sometimes. He hates assigning papers but he makes them as fun as he can. Only 2 written assignments and 2 exams. STUDY for his exams!
My fault, but only assignments are five quizzes so make sure you do well in the beginning of the semester because its hard to bring your grade back up. His syllabus mentions papers a lot but there are none. I just use the textbook to look up quiz answers because they are direct quotes from the book. Easy A.
By far he is one of the best professors I've taken. He is cool, funny and nice. He is a tough grader when it comes to writing assignments. I would recommend taking his class. If i could take him again I would.
Overall stats class is not bad. However, I have never had a CRJ professor nitpick my essays the way this one does . The grading criteria for essays make no sense in terms of what to write. You are tasked with watching a video or reading an article then writing a 1500 essay and needing seven sources for random ?'s he created. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!
Prof Brehman was cool and the 3 1500 word papers were easy but he was harsh when it came to APA. The textbook is confusing and so are the exams because you don't learn anything. He rambles during lectures so you don't learn
Professor Brehman was a delight. He is honest, hilarious and understanding. I took his class mist COVID-19 and all his exams were open note open book and an easy grader. He is really engaging and is not afraid to put his opinions out there. If you're looking for a professor whose lecture you won't fall asleep in, take his class. One of my favorites
He is one of the nicest teachers I've ever met. There are only 3 tests and 3 papers in your grade, but the tests are all open note and he does review sessions before. He grades tough on the paper but if you follow APA you should be fine. He made stats bearable + made online easier. Extra points because he has a cute cat.
This was the first class I took via Zoom, it was great! The course consists of 3 papers and 3 exams, he grades tough-ish on the papers but use proper grammar & APA & follow the prompts and you'll be fine. Exams aren't bad, in class review is super helpful! Taking him for CRJ302 he was great!! Made online learning a great experience! 10/10 recommend
Prof Brehman is probably one of the best math professors I've had. Stats is pretty difficult but he made the class feel easy. You have 3 papers, aren't hard but just take some time to write, and 3 exams that are pretty difficult. Just attend lectures and reach out to him if you have questions and make sure to study because the material is heavy.
This guy is awesome! And his class was fairly easy! Just turn in your work! And study for tests. I was sick most of the semester but he was so understanding and he gave me the chance to make up assignments. GREAT guy. Id advise you to take this class if you want a teacher who also cares about you.
Where to begin with Prof. Brehman. To start, he knows his stuff. He knows it well enough that he's not insecure about his skills like a lot of other professors that feel they have to "prove" themselves. He delivers information in a relaxed, clear, and concise way that I have rarely seen. Pretty sure the guy is a gamer too, so that's cool. 10/10
Mr. Brehman is a great instructor. The class is strictly lectures but he is a great instructor. There were three essays and three quizzes, so not a heavy workload. He is fair with grading and gives chances to fix major mistakes. It seems almost impossible to fail this class.
He is an awesome professor and is super understanding of things. He made his class enjoyable during all of the 2020 craziness. If you ever have a question he is super helpful and understanding. If you need help send him an email. I recommend taking him. If you do have his class, ask about his cats.
Professor Brehman is a great professor. I have struggled in math my whole life but Professor Brehman made this course fun and enjoyable for me. This course does require a good amount of writing but as someone who struggles in math and is better at writing the papers without a doubt boosted my grade greatly!
Professor Brehman is truly a great professor. As someone who struggles greatly with math and anything math related this class alleviated that anxiet. There are only three papers and three exams for this class however the workload is doable and the exams can be an easy A as long as you study
Ive never been too great at math but that did not seem to be much of an issue. Brian is super reasonable so if you put in the necessary effort you should do well. 3 papers and 3 tests.
Professor Brehman is a pretty laid back guy but also entertaining at the same time. There's no homework, 3 exams and 3 papers throughout the semester. He grades fair and he's clear on what he expects.
Brehman is an awesome professor! He was super understanding especially being in the middle of a pandemic. His lectures are super easy to understand and on review days he will go over everything you need to know for the exam.
Professor Brehman was an amazing professor to have for my first year of college. He keeps the class stress-free, but keeps his expectations high so that content learning isn't mpeded. He is funny, doing a great job lecturing via Zoom while making it awkward-free. Only critique would be that the grade comes down to 3 papers and 3 exams. Good class.
Brian did an amazing job teaching durning a pandemic! The course consists of 3 papers and 3 exams, he grades tough-ish on the papers but use proper grammar & APA & follow the prompts and you'll be fine. Exams aren't bad, in class review is super helpful! Taking him for CRJ302 next semester! 10/10 recommend! Refreshing to have a prof. like him:)
Professor Brehman is a real gem. Took his CRJ201 class and is for sure the best Professor I've had at ASU. Class was super easy to complete even through Sync. Would recommend him to anyone and even taking his class for CRJ302 this Spring. SO glad he's teaching another class I have to take.
Professor Brehman is a real gem. He is by far the best professor I've had at ASU. His class was easy to complete through Sync which was not an easy task for most professors at ASU. Would recommend him to anyone and even taking his CRJ302 class this Spring. Just glad I have another semester in his class!
I am halfway through this class, but wanted to take a second to recommend Professor Brehman! So far class has been awesome. he is great about keeping up on due date alerts. There are 5 chapters per each test, 3 tests total and two papers. The material is excellent for criminal justice or public service majors. Highly recommend!
Great teacher but I had him for a boring subject.
One of the best in the CRJ department. Highly, highly recommend for CRJ 303. Stats didn't feel like a math class - it felt like a normal class. He is very kind, is willing to help you out, and responds quick even if its late. 3 papers and 3 exams make up the grade. Fine if you study, but a few missed questions could end up being a make-or-break.
Boring class to begin with, and he did not help with that. Grade comes down to 3 papers, which if you get a low grade on one, that's pretty much your grade in the class. The prompts are difficult to even write about. The only comments i have had on my paper is "incorrect citation" and I was marked down 40%. Terrible.
Hated statistics but great professor. 3 papers, 3 exams, 7 quizzes. Lectures he co created break down the material well. Learned more from lectures than the book. Can get confusing at times if you are not the greatest at math. Papers can be difficult but just follow the prompts and ask questions if you need help. Grades fairly quickly.
Professor Brehman is the coolest! I took him a year ago and have yet to find a professor that even remotely compares to him. He genuinely cares about his students, and will do anything he can to help. His lectures are actually useful, and for his statistics class all we had was four exams and three essays, no extra busy work. Definitely recommend!
He took over CRJ394 (an online course) from another professor. It is a super hard class with a lot of materials to sift through. There are a number of required weekly journals on the materials & 3 essays. He is a tough grader on the essays but gives clear feedback. The midterm & final were insanely hard but he worked with the students to curve it
Brian is incredible! He took over the class and there were a few bumps but he was always willing to fix things. He is very responsive and really wants what is best for the class. The final and midterm were hard, but it is all open book. Not too many assignments, just watch the videos and read the articles and you will be fine. Loved this class!
He offers clear feedback and is overall fair, though I do feel he is a tougher grader than most professors I have had in the past. He is easy to get in touch with and accommodating. Each week had HW that you have unlimited attempts on and a 450-700 word essay. The session also had 3 exams total. Not an easy A but not very difficult either
he's ok. his online lecture fare not the best if you suck at math and need more of a detailed explanation- i wouldn't take him again but i'm taking it for a required course. thank god it's just the one. and what's up with grading so hash on the papers? it doesn't make sense.
Good class lectures, fun, funny, he sends out informative emails for any updates, usually finishes class early, good assignments, not hard. 10/10
Overall the class was average. Stats like a whole other level of math hell for me personally. My only issue was communication and grading criteria. nothing against the professor but I struggled to grasp this class. Grading criteria on the written assignments could have been clearer and communication with the TA and professor could have been better.
Professor Brehman is an amazing teacher. I 100% recommend his class to anyone who struggles in other math classes. He's nice and charismatic. We are graded on very few assignments in the class, but he prepares the students and explains assignments thoroughly. Attendance isn't required, but I suggest attending class so you understand the content.
He is fun and interesting. Always watch the lectures because if you miss one you will be lost. It is easy to follow along with and if you fail one test it won't tank your grade completely. 3 exams and 3 papers If you are watching and re watching the videos you will pass with ease. (I messed up one of my exams and managed to bounce back) Loved it.
My grade in this class has nothing to do with the professor, he was amazing, I just simply am terrible at math and mostly did not attend class. You'll get a much nicer grade if you attend the class I'm sure. He was funny and very passionate about this class. I did enjoy his teaching methods. He seems like a pretty cool guy.
Originally an in-person class, but made online. Seems like a nice professor, but I never had to contact him personally; he sent out emails semi-frequently w/ any updates. One paper (read and follow rubric!) and five open-note exams, I watched all lectures and took heavy notes and did pretty good, originally had an A- but he adjusted grade to an A+
Unfortunately the professor never seemed to be involved with the class. He had his TA grade everything. The TA definitely took her job a little too seriously when it came down to grading. I would recommend taking a class where the professor actually wants to be involved and not just post YouTube videos and have the TA do the grading.
This professor did not grade anything himself, rather he had his TA grade everything, and she graded based on formatting alone, but ZERO paper content. It is almost impossible to get full credit on the papers. This professor is also extremely prideful and so stubborn, very much "I do no wrong" kind of professor. He does not care about your success.
would not recommend taking again just tedious. The lecture and homework did not correlate with the papers we had to write each week. You take 3 exams that is related to the math you learn which was fine once you get the math, 5 hw questions that was math related. just says that the citation was wrong i.e, very little explanation how to correct it.
303 will be hard with any professor, so do not expect it to be easy, but the course is built so that you can learn math even if you are not math oriented. I'm not the best essay person, and I was shocked when I saw that I somehow have to calculate something and then write an essay on it with 3 outside sources, like bruh, wth? That put me down to B.
Overall his class was pretty ok. Not the best, but not the worst. You have 5 exams total and he lectures every time. But the positive to this, he gives you the slides ahead of time.
What was initially an intimidating class, was actually well-paced and enjoyable. Take notes! The course developer (Danielle Wallace) is fantastic at boiling down the text/content to make it palatable. The instructor (Brian Brehman) is active within the course and responsive to questions, but will take-off points for minor things.
This "instructor" is like a ghost, he only appears in announcements. Has someone else doing lectures, no feedback, and the midterms do not give you enough time, so you have to guess to complete it or don't do them. This and another "instructor" have been the worse I have taken in my life!
The TAs grade your work and they do an inconsistent job! Sometimes I was marked down for thing one but not thing two and then I would fix it and on the next paper thing two is randomly incorrect now. A 5-point assignment in which you get unlimited tries, and answers almost every time on Chegg and a paper due every Sunday! I hated this class.....
Despite receiving an A-, it was exceptionally difficult to earn. There were 6 writing assignments (400-750 words, 15 pts), 7 HW Problems (5 ?s), 3 exams (30 ?s/pts). For the writing assignments, he was an extremely tough grader, I only received 1-15/15, instructions were super unclear. He refuses to use the book as it is "not a reliable source".
This professor can be really funny but awkward at the same time. He goes on rants every five minutes and takes a long time to get to the point of things when giving a lecture. He cares a lot about the APA format and will deduct points even if it is the smallest mistake. I was not able to receive any perfect scores on any essays.
As a 4.2 student, you likely won't know what is ever going on until the review days, so don't stress too much. GO TO CLASS these & take notes. The book is very confusing and often incorrect, so I stopped reading it.3 times MC exams & 3 papers (strict about APA). Lectures can be very confusing, but he does his best. Email him for any questions.
I have taken both CRJ302 and CRJ303 with Professor Brehman and I have received an A in both. He is a nice guy, attendance is not required. He has clear grading criteria posted on Canvas so make sure you follow the rubric and answer the prompt correctly. APA format is also very important to this professor so make sure you double-check your papers.
the professor would make comments that would rub the wrong way especially their TA.Their writing assignments for Statistical Analysis were VERY difficult to understand what they wanted.I struggled with every writing assignment because of little errors, which I get it, but I thought this was a math course for CRJ.The other assignments weren't hard
Attendance was not mandatory, and I ended up learning more by teaching myself the material. Lectures were VERY boring, and he could not stay on topic. He was also very insistent on his personal beliefs and I would not go to class because I did not want to hear his opinions. But exams were open note and essays were easy if you followed directions.
Professor Brehman is very passionate in regards to coursework material, often expressing his own values and beliefs, even political ones. The only downside to this course is that there are four exams, and those are the only grades in the class, so there is not much room to mess around and forget readings/lessons even if they aren't mandatory.
The course material wasn't that interesting to me, mostly because I took this class to fulfill a prerequisite requirement and has nothing to do with my major. However, the professor was awesome and would love to have him again.
Prof. Brehman's course was easy enough- attendance was not mandatory at all and there was 0 homework, just the exams (which are open note). The material on the test is primarily in the textbook so there is no point in going to lectures unless you want to hear him rant about how messed up the justice system is for 75 minutes.
Not a great class. Class on statistics and while I got near perfect grades on the tests and quizzes, the writing assignments were grade heavy enough to bring my grade down a letter
Professor has extreme political views and makes everyone aware to a point that it interferes with the content of the class. He gets into great detail about the policies he supports ad never even mentions the ones he doesn't, They all show up on the 4 tests in the semester that are the only grades in the book. class wasn't insanely hard however.
This class can be tricky, but using resources like Unstuck study alongside the course materials really helped me stay on top of things. The prof can be quirky, but is generally responsive. Definitely do the readings and go to class - it pays off.
I took this class to fulfill a general studies and it was pretty chill. 4 at home and open note tests, attendance optional. Even though they're open note, don't think they're easy, questions can be worded confusing and the answers could be in the book but not in the lectures. Offered one extra credit essay which got me an A. Cool dude, has mohawk.
Had me using Rate My Professor for the first time!!!
