He's hilarious...interesting..(not one i wanna kill by the end of class)
totally awesome completely sexy and fun guy, you should take his class!
AWESOME TEACHER...I registered late so I ended up having to take the class off campus, but he was DEFINITLEY worth the drive. Register early though, people have spread the word as to how great he is, so his classes fill up quick now.

he is cool. kind of a freak in the way he dresses but he is totally understanding and when it comes to grading he is totally easy. i would recommend him to anyone
only been in class for two weeks and have learned more than I did last semester. There is a lot of reading, but the class is fun. He really cares that we learn.
Best teacher i have had!He is not too hard or too easy, but he grades reasonably & teaches you a lot! He incorporates history, art, philosophy, etc. into the discussions. And if the class takes part in discussions, there are no quizzes/tests.Absolutely great!
Poor excuse for a english teacher...Grades hard never tells me what I can improve on. Easy is not always a good thing
What a great professor. Took his class during the summer and had a great time. He requires class participitation. Thats not a bad thing. Discussions always started with the reading assignment, but parlayed into modern time. He method of teaching forced people to think...What a concept. Take him
awesome
he is the most fun and understanding professor you'll ever have
Cool f'ing guy! Pretty rad tattoo "dissent" on his arm under those sleeves of his lies a true man.

awesome crazy teacher
he is a good teacher sometimes some of the class conversations can be boring, but overall its a pretty good class.
GREAT PROFESSOR ALL AROUND! No tests or quizzes as long as you participate in class. Always be prepared with something to say! He does an amazing job presenting the material from different angles. If you don't like to think, however, don't take his class. He makes your head hurt with all the ideas he throws around.
very hard class and a hard grader but still an awesome prof. very funny and outgoing but beware that this is a very hard class.
Amazing. After taking his class I walked away with a complete different perspective on things. His class can be difficult and hes a hard grader but its worth it. But watch out..you might catch him hiding under his desk or doing handstands on the wall!
He would have to be my favorite teacher so far. I had him last year for 111 and 112. He makes class more interesting and picks interesting books and poems to read. When he first walks into the class you think he's not the teacher, but he is and he is wonderful.
Prof. Dunnigan... is the****. i loved him so much! he talks about everything from drugs and music to politics and religion... if you think that ENG 121 will be another boring english class >_<... not this class :D just come to class, participate, and try to keep up with the reading... you'll A+ce it baby.
Took 121 with him. We wrote 5 papers and a 5-7 pg research paper. It is VERY tough to get an A on anything. Also, miss 4 classes and get an F. The biggest problem though is his teaching format, he spend almost no time with writing improvement. This is the first english class I have ever taken where I felt there was no improvement in my writing.
by far the most fun i evr had in eng class. just when u think what he is talkin about is irrelavant he ties it in and give u new perspective. i got all b's on all papers i wrote n i wrote them the day before usually (however i am a very proficient writer) grades for quality and hes not trivial at all. ie: never turned in 1 bibliogrphy or rough draf
He really cool. His class is fun.
He is very nice and silly. Layed back. Has a great sense of humor and does hand stands in his class. He really challenges you to have critical thinking and he wants you to be able to "read between the lines"
Awesome teacher, very easygoing on reading, gives plenty of time to read the books, and strict with essays but not anal bout the little things
This guy is the man. Really knows how to connect with the students and is always suggesting different points of view on any subject that is being discussed. It isn't an easy class, but it is the kind of class that makes you want to actually work for the grade (not too hard of course). I'd recommend him to anyone. Coolest teacher I've ever met.
great teacher, i'd recommend him to anyone! he makes class worth going to!
He was the best teacher I've ever had. He made the class fun and really made us think. He respected our opinion and encouraged us to think outside the box.
Professor Dunnigan is the type of instructor that will enrich your life if you allow his probing questions to take root in your mind. He encourages you to understand this is your life, take it and your world seriously. The works chosen were reflective of social issues we face today. I rated this class as "easy" because I enjoyed it greatly.
AMAZING end of story
you'll want to keep coming back for more. don't believe me? try it!
Very fun teacher, laid back class. He knows what he's talking about. Attendance policy is a little lame. Hard grader but for your own benefit. The discussions got interesting, no tests. Overall he was a very good teacher. He made you think outside of the box and made you wanna speak up!
Prof Dunnigan is one of the best teachers I've had. He tries to make you think "outside the box" and offers different opinions on many subjects. Attendance is mandatory, but it is for your own good, you have to be there for the discussions in order to be informed to write your papers. If you show and and participate, you should pass this class.
He is a great professor! I would recommend him to anyone. Although he doesn't look at all like the typical professor, he definitely makes up for his looks with his extreme level of intelligence. Your grade in this class is determined by how well you do on papers, participation, and attendance. There are no tests! Take English 121 with Dunnigan!
Brian blew my mind. During his classes I felt like I wanted to write, and even after his classes that feeling hasn't left me. He taught me to think like never before. His entire class revolves around critical thinking and that is why he is such a successful open minded teacher. I will always consider him as a role model in my life. Thank you Brian!
Nice guy, really pushes critical thinking and questioning authourity. Read the works and write college level papers on them & you'll be fine. No homework, just 4 essays and a research paper. Participation points are a big part of your grade so go to class. Helpful and emails back quickly. Holds engaging classes with good points.
Very hard grader - gave me a B on first paper because I didn't have in-text citations. He hadn't said we needed them, and I didn't know what they were, so that B gave me a B for the class. Strange discussions, weird professor, horrible books. Participation is mandatory, penalizes the entire class if a few people don't participate.
Grade based on 5 papers (none of which you get back timely, all with added requirements after you write them and 2 of them due the last 2 days of class for 50% of your grade) and participation (for 10% of your grade) which is based on if the whole class participates, not just you. Completely arbitrary grader - likes you or not. What a mistake...
One: two out of three of the books he choose were absolutely horrible. Two: He claims to want to give the class two sides to every story but he belittles the government and authority at every he chance he gets! Inappropriate for younger students who see him as a role model. Three: He takes points of papers but NEVER makes any comments on them in
Hes the funniest professor ive ever had. grade is only based on 5 papers so not much room to get an easy A. He's a tough grader but if you ask him for help he'll give it to you.
Great teacher. It's very easy to listen to him talk. He does grade harshly, but this is an advanced college class. He expects well written papers. I liked the class, and learned a lot. He makes the classes fun, teachest outside, and he involves the class in every discussion.
Hes extreamly interesting and always relates the book to modern affairs. While he didn;t pick the most interesting books, they were not the worst things I've read. He is engaging with the class, likes to teach outside on nice days and conduct lectures on walks through the woods. He grades very harshly and won't provide any tips for improving though
He is the best professor I've had. Hilarious in class although he proves his point doing so. He is up front and is not afraid to receive criticism and takes it constructively. I don't know why everybody says he grades hard, he seems to be a fair grader. Only problem is the whole class being based off of 5 papers. You also HAVE to participate!!!!!!!
Dunnigan made class fun. he is really laid back and thinks outside of the box but makes it all relate to the book you're reading. he doesn't look like a typical teacher which makes you even more interested. he's super cool and super helpful. just read the books and you'll do fine! he grades fairly and makes you want to come to class
I had this guy back in '04 or '05. It was a good experience, enough that I actually remember his name. I'm going back to Towson on the GI bill, but I'd recommend him over anyone in the Eng. Dep. here. A hippie dem. but in a good way and doesn't force it. Put together some good arguments using your novels (read them!)and he'll grade them fairly.
He was an amazing teacher, he made the class really analyze the text and encouraged us to make our own opinions rather than memorize his own. Great experience. I would recommend him to anyone!
Loved this guy.
Hes, so helpful, he proof reads papers before you even turn them in. He explains almost all of the poems and readings for you. He explain why he grades things the way he does. He's not that hard of a grader. Participation is key though he is big on that, but he gives you a lot of opportunity to answer questions, and give your opinion on things.
Great teacher. Makes you think outside the box and asks great discussiong questions. Very helpful, very cool guy and very chill. He has a good sense of humor. All the assignments we do are papers, but I love the fact we do peer review on the papers. You get to know your classmates better. I think you should take this professor
Dunnigan is such a good teacher! He makes you think outside of the box and has great discussion questions. He does not look like your normal teacher, he looks like a student. He relates very well to his students and is HOT
Be prepared for a lot of reading and writing. Many students enjoyed Dr. Dunnigan and his style of teaching, but I found him extremely distracting. His assignments were not very challenging at all and repetitive which really bothered me. If you want an easy class you should take him but do not if you actually wanted to learn something..
Dunnigan rocks! Not your typical "go by the book" teacher. Engaging, very relatible. Tells hilarious stories. Grades fair. Encourages students to speak up so if you're quite get over it. Participation counts. Very helpful and will answer any questions. Great books choices! Class is never boring. Looks like he should be in a rock band :D Take him!!
Best english teacher I've ever had. I don't usually like english all that much but he is so passionate about the material it makes you feel the same. I would highly recommend this professor, he's awesome and very cute.
If you go to class, participate in discussions, and do the work, there's no reason you shouldn't do well in his class. He's really helpful and makes the class interesting. I'd definitely recommend taking him!
One of the best professors I've ever had. He's passionate about English and makes it interesting. You HAVE to participate, but he makes coming to class enjoyable and entertaining. Wish I could take a class with him again!
Great guy!! Class discussions are really fun, wish more people would talk in class it makes class discussions way better! He really opens up your mind to new ideas. Great teacher, I defiantly recommend taking his class if your open to critical thinking and good class discussions!
He's an awesome teacher. If your go to class and are even a half way descent writer you will pass. He goes over and explains multiple view of the peons and stories we read. Talks about his kid and past. Just great
Pretty dope guy. Class time is pretty raw. Someone else said there is no time spent on writing improvement and that is very true. Other than that there is nothing bad to say. Dunnigan is a Boss.
He is the cutest teacher you will ever have and that's probably more so because of his personality. His grading is more so on the harsh side, but going to class is well worth your time!
very tough grader, but he is extremely interesting
extreme tough grader! but is interesting and helpful.
I have never really felt that I have learned anything in any of my past English classes. Dunnigan's class was a far cry from what I was used to. It was interesting, engaging and I actually learned quite a bit. He is fair with his grading system and will never just give you a grade without an explanation. I took him for all of my required classes
Dunnigan is literally one of the best professors alive. I could never recommend a better english prof and unlike my experience with these classes my entire life, he finds way more value in having meaningful discussion than simply assigning papers. Not one test all semester (or quizzes), only wrote 3 500-750 word essays and a super easy final "exam"
he's the man
The easiness factor is moot; I am an English major and therefore do well in English classes. That being said, I believe Dunnigan will engage and spark interest in any student. The class overall is very socratic and existentialist. He's lenient and laid back. Definitely take this class, it's well worth it. Also, he's very, very attractive.
Dunnigan was awesome , great guy. He opens your mind to a more comprehensive understanding of the books instead of just okay this is what it's says so this is what happened . Participation matters but he stresses that from the beginning and it's really easy to do in class with all the discussions. Super hot ;)
Professor Dunnigan is such a super cool guy. He doesn't have "normal" conversations in class, he has really thought provoking discussions unlike many of my other professors. It also helps that he's hilarious. The class is definitely one of my favorite classes.
Very fun English class. Prof is energetic and wants students to think critically about coursework and the world in general.
Dunnigan made me love English even more. This man is VERY knowledgeable and helpful. Throughout the semester, his lectures involved how the novels were related to real life, which made the class really intriguing. He expects participation in discussions (always fun). The essays could be difficult for some, but I got an A+ on all. Not a hard grader.
Professor Dunnigan made my first college class less scary. He was super involved during class. He gave great lectures and he helped me to connect the novels we read to real life. He was a great teacher and I would definitely recommend his class!
easy teacher, all you have to do is particitpate in class and do the essay which arnt that hard
Dunnigan is a very funny professor who talks to you like an adult and not just student. He is very engaged in all of the readings that are assigned. He is also good at breaking down the readings and poems in a way that you understand them. Awesome professor.
He was very enthusiastic and one of the best english professors that i know of. He explained things clear and helped you with your assignments. He also graded assignments really quick. He usually gives really good grades especially if you put all your effort into your papers. There is about 2-3 papers and one paper is actually the final exam.
I really enjoyed Professor Dunnigan's lectures. He used lots of funny/crazy stories to make his points -- you can't get bored with him. He was pretty lenient in grading papers, but participation counted for 8.5% of the overall grade. You have to speak up multiple times per class to do well on this, so, as a shy student, that almost cost me my A.
Very good professor. Make sure you participate every class or else your participation grade will suffer and will hurt your grade. I didn't buy the text book (you can find everything online) and Im a mediocre writer and never opened the Little Seagull handbook and was just fine. Make sure you check your grades he accidentally put the wring thing in.
This man is most professional but at the same time hilarious. If you're good at writing essays you'll be fine. Participation is key to getting an A, if you don't you'll probably pass with a low C that if you're doing good with all of your essays. You're given 5 essays and one of them is your exam.
Worst professor I ever had! I tried to get my grade up nothing worked would go to the wring center and have him read my essay and never got a good grade I dont understand whats his problem!
Had him for English 111 and can say he is a super cool guy, his lectures were actually super interesting and he told some awesome stories and talked to you like an actual person vs just some students. However, you have to participate or your grade will SUFFER. Overall though he was a pretty easy grader and you had no homework besides a few essays!
YOU MUST SPEAK IN CLASS TO PASS!! He is great during his lectures and gives you a lot of help on how to write your papers. Both semesters I had him, he picked interesting books to use in the class. Just try your best on the papers, show you put effort into them & he will give you a good grade- but even if you do well on the papers you must speak
You cannot find another professor like him. His lectures keep you awake in class and he treats students as his friends. He is very informal and assignments are easy only if you read the books that are assigned. Quizzes are easy and he expects you to be there every class. Amazing professor 10/10
He's definitely a good professor, but there was some downfalls. His class lacked interaction, grades take forever and sometimes, the rubrics weren't exactly as CLEAR to understand what needs to be written. Other than that, he was great at explaining things, made me laugh, and very understanding. I recommend him.
Really nice guy and the lectures are thought provoking. Very few assignments overall, only 5-6 for me. The essays aren't difficult if you don't procrastinate writing. Not a super tough grader and is always available for reviewing your rough draft.
he was super funny. participation really matters. be sure to speak up a few times per class or your grade might slip.
He is the best!
Do not take his asynchronous courses. Repeatedly ignored my emails through the semester which led to poor grades on assignments because I simply could not get in contact with him. Otherwise nice guy, and easy grader.
Dunnigan is overall a great professor. He is very passionate about his job- which helps us care too. He has many open discussions with the class. He gives VERY detailed answers/responses. The only criticism I can give him is that he is not the best at uploading due dates for assignments. You'll have to constantly check the Syllabus.
About as good as you could reasonably expect for an English class. A lot of writing and not super interesting lectures, but he was nice and understanding. Fair grader, explained things well.
