effort is key and really nice guy - very self confident...
very gentlemanly - really nice guy...lectures a bit random
Seems like a great guy...lectures a bit confusing at first but they get better
seems like a really nice guy - just wish he would follow the notes
very helpful when approached, seems passionate about his work
pretty cool that he told us about this site, shaped up in second term
His enthusiasm is contagious! He quickly made cognitive my favourite class!
thought i knew what was going on... i was SOOOO very wrong
great class, great teacher
interesting lectures- but sometimes a little random and hard to follow
Very interesting course
Forces you to actively engage the material to learn (intentionally or not)
confusing but extremely interesting
Ready to help if you are ready to help yourself. Good mentor, great friend, thanx
Butler? Who doesn't love the guy? He's great.
VERY interested in what students have to say - great quality!
Extremely compassionate and caring! Very interesting classes!!
Geogre lucas' long lost brother? Just wait until he tries to explain the cognitive prowess of the Jedi! Classes interesting, Funny at times. May the force be with you!
He is very interesting to listen to, and seems like a really cool guy....the notes are a little confusing and hard to follow, but the lectures are great!

I wish I'd appreciated this class more when I took it. Not an easy course, but definitely interesting. A very nice man!
Very interesting course~~~being confused a little bit in the first part of the course, really having fun started from the second part of the course!!!
excellent course and an excellent professor
Definetly one of my favourites. Both the class and him were great.
Brilliant prof. one of the best in the Psychology Department. The course was interesting too
Very good professor
Well read and generally amiable, a great teacher and even better friend.
Great prof, although he doesn't do much of the lecturing for this course
I've taken 3 of his courses, and they all start out really confusing, but are fantastic at the end when things come together. A really nice guy too.
One of the Best profs I've had at Queen's. Very nice and very helpful
this prof sux. DOnt ever take PSYC 202-203 with him!!
He's a very good guy
Dr. Butler's a great teacher...any thoughts? :P
Forget about George Lucas, this guy must be related to Kenny Rogers.
Dr. Butler is really great, you can tell he's v. interested in what he teaches, he makes you love a subject you thought you'd hate. And the grading is really fair
Awsome prof. Active interest in what he is teaching and his students.
He's a great prof. Interesting course material. Course is not that easy, but the prof is fair.
Very smart prof but the two TA's were not available at all. I found that answering the questions with every bit of information I could think of helped get better marks, even if it was wrong.
He doesn't do any of the marking, so it's quite hard to mark the "easiness". It's an interesting course, but I think that he focuses a little too much on Star Trek and not enough on the theories/concepts!
Genuinley caring.

Great guy, fun to talk to outside of class! Material obviously favours COGS students. I wish there was a difference between PSYC220 and COGS200 though. Material severely biased, so I'm worried that if he's wrong, we all will be as well. That doesn't mean his class isn't great though.
Dr. Butler is an amazing prof. He is fair
Wonderful prof, passionate about the subject. caring, approachable, flexbile
Great prof, funny and a nice guy. The course material tends to be dry and sometimes boring - but he's very fair with exams questions.
Good prof...interesting material and exam questions are very fair...the course doesn't really seem to make sense at the beginning but he eventually ties it all together. He has a genuine interest in the subject
Hardest 2nd Year PSYCH course
Prof. Butler is friendly, fun, and approachable.
Wonderful prof. Loves the material, and loves to teach. Very friendly, engaging, and funny. Exams are very fair.
Great prof!!! material is a bit ambiguous at first but it all comes together at the end. Thanks for a great introduction into brain theory Butler!!! Oh, ya, he's hot too, if you like the older man type!!!
Great professor! Exams are fair and really test your knowledge of the material. We need more psyc profs like him (and more practicum courses too!) Awesome hair!
Great professor who is passionate about the material! The material and exams are interesting and fair, respectively. I really enjoyed how the course came together at the end, although it might seem ambiguous at the start with the way he teaches. You'll realize that it's a lesson within itself!
Thought I would hate the class and ended up loving it- Butler pulls it all together when you least expect it. A pleasure.
This guy is my favourite prof. A completely awesome fellow.
He's actually really helpful, all you have to do is approach him.
Thorough.
Tough to rate. Obviously passionate, tries to engage the class. Exams fair, although need ot stick to "ICE". Subject material intersting, but the way that he presents it often makes things more confusing. Boring lectures, until classes after exams when finally you understand. Not knowing anything about computers put me at a significant disadvantage!
This prof is so passionate and enthused about the material. He makes the material so visual and interesting. The lectures go by fast. He is very funny. If you read in the Journal about what happened recently it just goes to show what a cool guy he really is!
hated him at first, but his lecturing still grew on me. I found myself excited to come to class. VERY interesting course and he's a GREAT prof, probably my favourite psyc prof.
Worst Prof at Queens. His lectures were random and useless. Going to his class was the lowpoint in my university career
George Lucas here was ridiculously dry. His exams were marked randomly and the course material went against everything psychology ever developed in the past 100 years. Arrogant and had total disregard for science. Real science.
The most majestic and lordly of beards rests upon the face of Professor Brian Butler. Oh, and he's a good prof, too.
He is a very funny prof, very wise and intelligent looking! very nice person. his lectures are hard, but this course is abstract and he tries his best. if you read his lecture notes and the textbook you'll understand. Butler is awesome!
He's a great prof, helpful, humorous, and makes learning thoroughly enjoyable.
In class, went on many amusing tangents. Interesting topics, but slideshow notes were not very helpful. Hard to find outside of class....
I'm in my third class this year with professor Butler and he's absolutely fantastic. Passionate about what he teaches and cares a great deal for the students. By far my favourite professor at Queen's. :)
Incredibly interesting course material, very enthusiastic and enjoyable lectures
This is my favourite class! i especially love the more psychological aspects of it. You can really tell that he is passionate about what he is teaching. the material is really interesting and his enthusiasm and humour make it even better. plus, he's such a cutie! i'm sad that this is only a half year course! i'm gonna miss it!
Butler is AMAZING! This is my favourite class, love it so much! You can really tell that he is passionate about what he teaches. the material is very interesting on its own but his enthusiasm and humour make the best! Great prof. and such a cutie! Sad that this is only a half year course! Only problem would be that there aren't any tutorials...
LOVE HIM!!! VERY ENJOYABLE CLASS, YOU CAN TELL HE IS REALLY PASSIONATE ABOUT WHAT HE TEACHES!
Great prof, kept the class interesting. Also google him and you'll find some interesting articles.
Intelligent, interested in course and comprehension of students, very funny
I found him a funny prof with really interesting material but the marking system was really hard. I think the standard deviation was really off. This was my worst mark by far. There are no weekly tutorials and if i had questions i found him rather condescending and unhelpful.
Absolutely amazing prof! Definitely recommend this class.
Not excellent. I felt let down by the course, as I thought it would be truly interesting before I actually attended a lecture. Very witty man and helpful, but considering there was no TAs for this class he was often busy.
Dr. Butler's lectures were too theoretical at times but this was personal preference (I preferred Dr. Browse's material). Difficulty was quite high for a 1st year class (>25% of class failed). Attendance isn't mandatory but you need to go if you want a decent grade. Also little textbook use. A challenging but interesting course - take it seriously.
I thought Dr. Butler was a great professor. I loved the computer science material Dr. Browse presented the most, but Dr. Butler was a more engaging speaker. I think his material was needed for those who might not have a computer science background, since allot of student are not in computing. He also doesn't have office hours, so keep that in mind.
