Good, easy just print notes & copy from overhead...but strict on being in class!
This class is easy if you are not a total ****.

Easy class, especially if you go. If you're not a total moron, you'll get an A
this teacher is fairly hard. The notes are just printed right off and filled in class....the tests are very straight forward, just a LOT of material covered per test, makes it hard to get an A
This class was so easy. If you do not make an A you don't need to be in college.

Boring lectures, and a lot of material covered during the exams. The textbook is useless.

big class, he gets boring
hes nuts! really funny guy, easy to work with...but the class gets long, and reading the chapters doesnt help
He scared me the one time I asked a question!
BORING. its hard getting up to goto his class. easy A, but tough entertainment.
I went to all the classes until the drop, then I dropped out as fast as I could. Hard class, you can't miss any, and his lectures could put an insomniac to sleep.
Not a very exciting class -everyone sits on their laptops and messes around. He does outline notes which is easy to keep up with. Not a class I would recommend, but it's very do-able. Tests aren't too bad if you just look over the notes from class. He's really into weather, so he gets a little carried away sometimes.
Can be a painfully boring lecture class, but fairly easy and quite popular to fulfill "non-science major" science classes. Very straightforward notes, homework, and tests. Not a lot of work and the lab that accompanies the class serves pretty much as a GPA booster. Very do-able.
The class was so boring I couldn't pay attention. The test were pretty tricky and the best day of the year is the last one. He is a nice guy, but the class is boring!
His class is easy enough if you are taking it for science credit. You can get away with not even buying the books. Gives slides on his website. Tests are directly from class notes. Over all the class is a little bit bland, but hey its better than chemistry.
He is actually quite interesting and fun. I was expecting some kind of environmentalist hippie, but he was actually funny and cool, and he taught the material very well. It's not a tough class at all, just show up, pay attention, and do his homeworks and you'll do fine the tests.
All the notes are outlined and he explains them well. The tests are really easy if you look at pasts tests and your notes. Homework comes straight from the notes and is a breeze if you keep up with your notes. I would definitely recommend this class!
I really enjoyed this class. I guess it's boring for people who aren't that interested in weather, but if you have an interest, I'd def recommend it. The tests are pretty easy, you really don't need the text, and Dr. Eder is pretty helpful for a guy who's got other responsibilities.
Had to bring computer to class to keep from falling asleep. One of the more boring classes at NCSU, but easy if you do your work and halfway pay attention in class.
Dr. Eder is straightforward which makes the class extremely easy. The tests comes from the mostly the notes, and some tables/pictures in the book. It's a bit boring, but I'ld take this class over chemistry/biology/physics/geology any day.
Dr. Eder is boring, but the class is better than chemistry or biology. he teaches you what you need to know and is a really nice guy in general. homework every other week, only about 10 multiple questions. tests are straight from the notes. i would recommend taking his class
I liked him a lot. He always canceled class for Thursday football games which was nice. He lets you out of class early almost every time. The tests were not that difficult if you studied. I personally think going to class was important and I benefited from it. Overall it was a good class and I would take it over again!
Really, really good teacher. He explains things well and has fun teaching! You will want to attend this class. He does a daily weather forecast which is nice and also plays videos for your entertainment! Tests were easy as long as you study the notes. DON'T BUY THE BOOK! I never opened mine.
Great professor, one of the best. really nice, and makes class fun. extremely knowledgeable
Dr. Eder is awesome/funny and his class is super easy. Attendance wasnt mandatory but the notes he gives you online have missing pieces that you can only get from attending class. DO NOT GET THE TEXTBOOK! I didnt need it at all, you can find the diagrams he uses on his tests online. His tests are really easy, all you need to do is study his notes.
Dr. Eder is a really cool guy. I agree with the post before this - DON'T BUY THE TEXTBOOK! I haven't used it once, and most of the information he teaches is basic. He's a bit of a bore, but he is relatively engaging and always lets you out early.
Mr. Eder is really nice and sometimes he can be witty. The class can be dull and the material was harder than expected. Just make sure you study and take good notes. This is a large class so it's harder to pay attention. And you really don't need that textbook at all.
A semi-sweet guy, but boring as all get out. Can't keep your attention which is why a lot of people leave class early, despite his snide comments. His notes are boring to take and they don't always help on the tests, sometimes you just have to guess. Probably better in a class of less than 400, which is what you're more than likely to be in.
Pretty boring professor, but sweet guy. I would get the text book because when you're studying for tests, it's really helpful to be able and look through the figures because they are referred to a lot on tests. He lets you keep your tests, so there's a lot in circulation from previous semesters.. if you can get those, you'll be golden.
His class is really easy if you go to class and pay attention. Try to get copies of the old tests- they are really useful when you're studying. I enjoyed his class, I would take it if you need a GPA booster!
Fairly easy class, Dr. Eder is very simple. Cut and dry. The tests are not very difficult and he always lets us out 10-15 minutes early. His class can get boring pretty easily, but the material is interesting and it's a relatively easy class. Take it if you can.
Really easy class, just show up and you will get a good grade. DON'T BUY THE TEXTBOOK!!!!! I never used it and I have an A.
Funny teacher. Very enthusiastic about what he taught. Overall had a really good time and enjoyed being there. Just study the notes and you'll be fine. No need for the book honestly.
Awesome teacher! Very nice and is willing to help students and answer questions. Funny in class. Makes the material as interesting as possible.
He gives guided notes that you fill in during class. Online Quizzes for almost every chapter based on notes. Tests aren't difficult if you study notes. Attendance is checked though 'turning point' clicker quizzes (not graded). Super cool guy! Easy class.
Class was funny and interesting. Must study figures in book in order to do well. He gives you guided notes to fill in during class but doesn't post them online so you must attend to get them. He uses clicker questions to take attendance and a lot of people usually leave after that. Tests are easy if you know how to study for them.
Fairly easy class, he's a sweet, witty guy who tries to make the boring material as interesting as possible.
His lectures are really boring. The tests are all multiple choice. You just need to review a lot for them.
Professor Eder is a cool guy, the class however is boring. You're most likely taking this class for a GEP credit, and it's definitely an easy A. Attendance is mandatory, but you can sign in and leave and still end up with an A. The tests require a few hours of studying, but it's no more difficult than your average High School class. Just try.
Funniest lecturer at NCSU
This class is not an easy A! don't know why everyone thinks that!! he switches up the wording in his questions on the exams to make you mess up. he's low-key evil. he's funny tho and his lectures are SO boring. attendance is mandatory but you can give ur clicker to a friend. 4 exams worth 80% of grade, quizzes 20%. cumulative final has me in tears
I wouldn't say this class is an easy A. It is pretty boring and easy to fall asleep in although Dr Eder tries his best to be lighthearted and funny. It's kind of like your dad teaching you? He has a lot of dad jokes. Moderate effort is required in the class.
Don't take this class if you're looking for any type of A unless you legitimately have interest and know what you're doing when it comes to meteorology. This is not a 130 level class. He downplays how hard his tests are. The study guide ? Study the opposite of it or you'll fail the tests. He doesn't curve and the test averages hover in the 70's...
Dr. Eder's MEA 130 class was decent enough! He knows what he is talking about, even though his lectures are boring! The tests weren't too bad, just read your notes and look at charts in textbook, and you should be fine! You should be able to get at least a B in the class with minimal effort!
Lectures are very confusing, but read the notes and you'll get it. No homework only chapter quizzes, answers can be found from the notes. Beware of tricky equations and what they're used for and figures from the text. No effort needed until test time. Put some studying in and you're fine. I learned A LOT. Exact questions come from practice tests.
He's very reasonable and clear about what you need to study and do to do well in the class. He gave constant reminders of weekly homework. Lecture was long, but he provided notes ahead of time that had blanks so you can fill them in as you go during lecture. The textbook he requires is even an old edition because he wants his student to save money.
Prof Eder is a great guy. Really funny sometimes. Lectures are long and boring, but he gives fill-in-the blank notes before hand. You have quizzes that are basically just to record attendance. Tests are easy if you study the notes and read the textbook.
His class was pretty easy, but he is so rude. Me and my friends asked him for help so many times and he just gives smart remarks back to us. Just go to class and pay attention and you will do well. His tests are exactly like his old ones too. But don't take this class if you don't have to, he is so rude
Dr. Eder is a funny and laid back dude. Class is pretty much a joke, tests are not super easy but access to old tests will help tremendously. Use the ResponseWare app and not the clicker because you can get a friend to send you the code and sign in to class from anywhere. Cramming the night before is usually enough to get an A or B on tests.
Not quite sure why everyone says the class is hard and he is a bad teacher. Yeah, he can be a smartass but so what? Tests are super easy and require minimal studying. Just go to class, stop being lazy, and you'll get an easy A+.
Eder's class was difficult for someone not majoring in his field. Reading the textbook and notes as well as being present for lectures is a must. Took his class looking for an easy A and did not find it. Exams were pretty difficult and studying is almost required. Lectures were boring but informative.
I took this class looking for an easy A to boost my GPA, get out of taking physics, and I was somewhat interested in the subject. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS FOR AN EASY A!!! I had heard around campus that this class was easy and if you paid attention in middle school science class you would pass. It is not that way. Good class subject, just not easy.
Not sure what everyone's issue is Professor Eder. He's got a dry sense of humor but is funny. Think dad jokes. He gives you outlines of the notes and you fill in the notes as you go. When I took it, he got fed up with everyone leaving right after we did clicker attendance questions, and he gave everyone still there extra credit. It was an easy A.
I took this class to be an easy A class, but it was anything but easy. Neat class to take, but do not think that this will be an easy A class.
He told us on the last day of class that he likes to make the class harder than a 100 level class. Would've been nice to know on day 1. Definitely not an easy A class. The material is interesting but his lectures are pretty boring and he expects too much out of people who aren't majoring in meteorology.
Prof. Eder was a really good lecturer and wanted to make the class interesting. There's quizzes every chapter that help as a grade booster and about 4 exams that are all multiple choice but pretty specific. Lots of numbers, percentages and stats to remember that aren't that important. He expects effort but grades fairly.
Tests are very difficult and so is the material. Especially if you're not inclined towards science.
A great professor that is extremely knowledgeable in the field. He does his best to explain abstract concepts and really cares about his students. He can be pretty witty and funny at times too.
DON'T BUY THE TEXTBOOK. You don't need it. Otherwise, decent class. He does make it harder than your average 100 level but it's not impossible. Lots of notes already laid out for you and if you actually listen to the lectures it helps a lot. He's a funny guy and understood when I missed a few classes and a test and helped me make it up.
Prof. Eder is very passionate about this class. He's funny, understanding, and wants to have his students learn but isn't overbearing about it. He gives all formulas (which are very easy) on the tests. Definitely take this class if you need a natural science credit. I'd take it again with him for sure, he's great!
Good choice for a natural science credit, very respected and is passionate about the class material. Sometimes lectures can drag, but does his best to make it interesting. Tests and quizzes are not too difficult if you pay attention and take notes in lecture. Very clear with his expectations.
Took Meteorology for a science credit, and I wish I just dropped the course now. I have done all of the homework and never skipped class but I will fail because exams COUNT 80% of your grade. Hated this class with its math and useless lab times that are busy work. I'm just not happy with the grading criteria.
This class is great for business majors. It is useful to get the textbook but you don't need. Overall is lectures are straight from the notes, which he provides and are fill in the blank. He goes over old tests in class the class period before an exam so you have material to study. Test are multiple choice and fairly easy if you study for an hour.
This class is good if you are just trying to get a science credit. If you study the notes, you'll definitely make an A. His notes are fill in the break and there's never homework, only quizzes every now and then. He's also pretty funny and is passionate about meteorology. He tries to make a lecture as interesting as it can be.
Do not buy the textbook. Mine was $50 and I used it one time. Other than that, this class is super easy. You don't have to pay attention in class too much and as long as you study 1-2 nights before the test, you can get an A. Our final was postponed because of snow and so he made it optional. What a homie. He's also super funny so that's a plus.
I was going into this class knowing that I had no interest in the topic, but needed a "Free" natural science elective and it kind of is. His practice tests are basically exactly the same as his actual test. He gives you his lecture notes, just study the notes and the practice exam and you'll be fine. I didn't study that much and ended up with a B+.
Easy A. Show up and pay attention to notes and review the practice test before hand and you should have no problem. Does attendance with tophat. He understands most people are just there to fulfill a gen-ed requirement so he tries to keep it interesting. 3 tests and a final, pretty simple.
Super passionate about the subject but understands that many people are just trying to fill a gen ed requirement. Is willing to help you out and always shares about weather for the football games :) A very nice man, pretty interesting class. Print out the notes and follow along in class and study a decent amount for the tests and you will be fine.
The class is lecture heavy so it's easy to fall asleep, but you can tell he's passionate about what he teaches and he tries to make it fun. There is a quiz like every two weeks or so and four exams. The final exam is cumulative, but study and you will be fine in this class.
Tried to be funny a little too much and uses a good amount of profanity which seems odd for a professor. Seems passionate about weather and is knowledgeable. Tests are pretty easy to get a B on with like an hour of studying notes. Never used book. You can take participation quizzes from dorm.
Dr. Eder is a cool guy who is very passionate about what he teaches. He likes showing the weather in Raleigh at the beginning of class which is always a nice way of tying in the material to the real world! The tests are exactly like the study guides, just different questions. You definitely have to study, but if you do you, you'll be fine.
Honestly, I barley showed up for class. (TopHat Attendance can be done from home). He is a tough grader and so if you want an A, you need to put in the effort. But a B is pretty easy to achieve. Chapter Quiz answers can usually be found online. Need to do okay on tests or will get a bad grade, test often have specific questions from lectures.
Easy A class, good teacher but can be boring. Just do the study guide/study the blanks in the notes and you will get 100s on all the tests. TopHat attendance code
Easy B without doing a ton of work. Tests are not super easy but with some studying you can do okay. Quizzes for every chapter; do them, make 100s, and youll be good. If you want an A you will need to put in some work but this is a great option to get a science credit. Class is actually really fun and interesting if you like to learn about weather.
Quizzes are pretty easy, and you're allowed to look at your notes from the lecture (but most quiz answers can be found online). The tests are more lecture-specific so you definitely have to pay attention to the lectures. Took for natural science credit. The only thing I don't like is he can make some rude remarks and he doesn't answer my emails!
This class is so easy if you do the bare minimum you'll definitely get an A. All of the tests and quizzes can either be found online or the answers are in the guided notes. He is super chill and gives you several days to take the quizzes and tests. If you're looking for an easy GEP credit definitely take this class!
This was such an easy class. If you're looking for a natural science class solely to meet a GEP requirement, this class is a great. The tests and quizzes are all straight from the notes and you can also find a majority of the questions on quizlet. Just watch the lectures and take notes and it's an easy A. Definitely take this class with him.
Super easy class however beware that exams open up on saturdays and close early Monday mornings. I didnt realize exams were on due weekends and they didnt show up in moodle until they opened so I missed the first exam but made high As on everything else and came out of the class with a C. I emailed prof Eder about it and he never emailed me back.
Dr. Eder is a great professor. Makes weather interesting and gives you everything you need to achieve. Only gripe is that he can be long winded but he makes up for it in how easy the quizzes and tests are. His fill in the blank notes are clutch.
The worst thing was he deleted lectures after the unit quiz. With the lectures deleted, it was harder to go back over and study for the midterm and to check for note accuracy. He also posted videos in moodle, making it difficult to skim through, adjust the speed, or split-screen and take notes online.
Dr. Eder was a decent professor, however, kind of hard to understand. The lecture videos were deleted often to encourage further studying but that didn't really work for my case. Lucky for me, I took meteorology in high school despite the lectures being somewhat pointless. He is also very late when you try to email him but will help when he can.
I really liked Dr. Eder. I felt the exams and the quizzes were very fair if you paid attention in class. I bought the book and read the chapters, but I don't think it's necessary to pass the class. He definitely knows his stuff and he made learning interesting.
I got an A- in this class but did almost no work or studying outside of class apart from the day before tests. His lectures can be pretty interesting and he cares about his students and how well they do in the class. I took this as a science elective so I did not take the lab, but it was a very easy class for the science elective IMO.
do not take this class if you can take another. He makes the tests and quizzes ridiculously hard.
He makes tests and quizzes hard, does not teach or give information he puts in them. He is also rude, even to your face, and he is not or refuses to be understanding and empathetic to students who are struggling.
For this class your only grades are tests, quizzes, and attendance. The textbook isn't necessary for the even though he'll tell you it is
He makes his notes an outline that you fill in during class, and the test and quizzes are hard for no reason because a lot of the info is so specific that its said differently in the notes vs the quiz or exam. Lectures are long and boring, and this class was one of the worst classes I have taken at NC State. This is not an easy science credit class
Mr. Eder was amazing, his lectures were very engaging, and he is very passionate about what he teaches. I loved every class and would take all of his classes. Tests and quizzes are very straightforward, but not super easy. Just come to class and pay a lot of attention, otherwise you will fail.
Dr. Eder and MEA 130 was by far my favorite class of the semester. Quizzes and exams were open note, but I still learned a lot. He does track attendance. There was not much HW besides studying. Otherwise he keeps lectures entertaining and somewhat interesting, and likes to knock on UNC. Would definitely recommend over chemistry or physics.
I took this class for a natural science credit and I do not regret it. It was only made up of quizzes and four exams, which were not too bad. The quizzes were worse than the exams. Attendance does count though, but he uses tophat. The lectures are easy to follow.
A very kind man who is a great professor. This class is hard, but what you need to pass is always found online wink wink. I wouldn't take again only because I personally wasn't interested and lecture is the same thing over and over. If you are taking the lab portion, sit with a GENIUS or you are screwed, it is so hard, not worth the risk probably.
The class is basically just lectures and quizzes/tests. The quizzes and tests are all open book/resources though, so it's not too bad; tests do have a time limit though. His lectures are kinda boring but he can be funny. He also normally lets class out 15 mins early.
For a lecture-focused class, Professor Eder makes the subject matter pretty palatable. The Skeleton notes he provides keep you engaged, and he doesn't speak fast enough to leave slower Typers/writers in the dust. The chapter quizzes are all take-home and open notes, as are the exams, which are pretty stress-free. Knowledgeable, but also humorous.
Really great instructor! He gives us the template for the notes and fill out as we go through the lectures. Tests are not difficult, but are open note. If you miss a day of class, you will have to get that days notes from a classmate.
Easy course. Many people take it for an elective science because of it being easier compared to an extra Chem or Bio. Prof. Eder does a good job explaining everything, because it is his passion, but his lectures can get rather boring. It really is kind of one-sided communication in the classroom, but his fill in notes is a big help for passing.
This class was somewhat boring with him just talking the whole time. The attendance is mandatory and important. He doesn't make the class too hard if you take the guided notes he gives out.
You'll have a couple of quizzes and a couple of exams but it's not that hard. If you're looking for an easy elective, take this class. Guy is funny too.
Very good professor and is excellent when it comes to lecturing. The material taught is a bit difficult and quizzes are given every chapter. Exams are also difficult
Great professor overall! The class if pretty easy as long as you go and fill in the notes he gives during the lecture and do the weekly/ chapter quizzes. The exams are kind of hard considering he doesn't give us a long time to do them.
DO NOT take this class expecting an easy elective. Not sure if Dr. Eder has made the class harder or something based on the other reviews but this class was NOT easy. Tests are open note but make sure to study a lot to memorize the formulas as well as basic information or you won't finish as you don't get a lot of time. Attendance is also required.
The only grades in class are quizzes and the exams, but everything was open note so you can use any resource so it's not hard to get at least a B on exams and quizzes. Some of the equations are kind of annoying but overall not a very hard class considering every thing he grades are open note.
Prof. Eder loves his job, and he is very passionate about meteorology. I did not even read the textbook once and just used the notes he gave in class to get an A. Very easy class if you pay attention.
The lectures are mandatory but he gives note outlines to make it easier to follow along. The class is graded on just the quizzes and exams, but they are open note and you can use the internet which makes them a lot easier and most of the questions are from the notes. The final exam had mainly questions from past quizzes and exams too.
I took this class as a freshman and it was the perfect class to take. The class was heavily weighted on exams and quizzes however they were easy since you are given note templates. His lectures were pretty long but he generally enjoys teaching about weather. Attendance was taken on tophat.
Very good course to take for a natural science credit. Professor Eder gives you fill in notes and all tests are open book open note.
Professor Eder wasted the first 30 minutes of class talking about the weather for the week. While nice for assisting the understanding of the material, it was a complete waste of time. He is also very monotone, and decides to take attendance with a sign up sheet. In a 268 person lecture. I was late to class everyday. Also very boring class.
Dr Eder has very interesing lectures. MEA130 is quite difficult with him if you have no foreknowledge on calc, trig, or physics. His exams are also very challenging.
The quizzes and exams are all online. Participation is required and his lectures are engaging. The class material is not difficult and I would recommend taking it with a few friends to study with. His deadlines are strict but one quiz gets dropped from your final grade. Also, he provides guided notes for every unit.
Just go to class, take the notes, and its slight
Nice guy. Not a lot of work only quizzes and tests. Moderatly difficult, I'm sure it would've been a little easier if I went to every class. But the lectures are extremely boring and make it difficult to be motivated to do so.
Definitely boring but very easy class and lab. I would take this if you just need it for GEP nat science with a lab most people average a high B low A on quizzes/tests its not hard but its not free. everythings online, and the lab is all just writing in the manual so don't expect any hands on work. Just boring overall unless you like weather but ez
Professor Eder is a really nice guy who is very educated on meteorology. He is very caring of people's time and is very passionate about NC State as a whole. Would definitely take again.
His lectures are very easy you just follow along with fill in the blank notes that he provides. He does top hat questions towards the beginning of each class that count as your attendance. There is one homework assignment a week that is a short quiz. His tests are fairly easy and normally are questions similar to those on the quiz or practice test.
Great professor, makes the material interesting, no homework except for quizzes, everything is pretty understandable if you take the notes.
Great guy & his hate for UNC is always fun to hear about. Tests are open notes, and the notes are fill-in-the-blank so you'll be set if you go to class. quizzes for each chapter but other than that, no homework/assignments. I took this class for a natural science credit on a whim and ended up really enjoying it! follows ncsu attendance policy.
Professor Eder's MEA130 class is a fairly straightforward natural science credit. The lectures can be long but he provides helpful note templates. Exams are open-book/open-note, making them manageable with regular attendance and studying. I found Unstuck study to be a great supplement for preparing for quizzes and exams.
Professor Eder is very nice even though his lectures can be boring. It's worth to go to class the day before exams because his review is pretty similar to the actual test questions. His class wasn't difficult at all and the final was basically the previous exams and quizzes.
This is a wonderful class! :)
NONONONONONONONONO. Exams and quizzes have material that was never discussed in class. Not enough time is given for exams for the amount of questions. Fire music taste tho
Don't take for a GEP, there are prob better classes. Stopped going to class after the 2nd week of lectures (tophat attendance) because the TA was a patrol officer walking through rows the ENTIRE class checking peoples laptop screens. Crazy. and some questionable climate/state of earth comments. Guided notes + open note quiz/exams.
Mr. Eder is one of my favorite professors i've had. He blasts alice in chains right before class and is a super funny guy. The class is pretty straight forward and all of the assignments and tests are online. I missed my final exam due date due to some personal problems and he let me make it up with no penalty. Great guy and great professor.
Professor Eder is a chill and knowledgeable guy, but the lectures were boring, and the TA monitors screens. Exams (worth 80%) and quizzes (20%) were online and open-note. I found the textbook useful for them. Some questions asked about specific things mentioned in class. He doesn't round your final grade, and Moodle does not say your real grade.
Was going to give a good rating but proceeded to put the wrong grade into packportal that did not reflect the actual grade I had in Moodle. Didn't not answer the multiple emails I sent him about it. Avoid at all costs.
Professor Eder explains things clearly and makes the material easy to follow. He's organized, helpful, and wants students to do well. The class is interesting and manageable if you keep up with the work. Great intro to weather and climate—would recommend!
Quizzes and exams are open-note. Attendance taken through TopHat and you have to get the questions correct. Lectures can be fairly boring, but the radars he shows are interesting. But this isn't just a "predict the weather coming up" class like I thought it would be. It is the science behind the weather and why it does what it does.
