Sometimes he makes mistakes or doesn't fully answer a question. He is very easy-going and willing to help.
Great guy, funny too.

i try to give this guy credit and all, but every day that he does problems on the board, he makes ATLEAST 1 mistake. the class is very boring and he can be moody sometimes. he doesnt really teach that well, i rely on the book more than him.
this guy was a little slow, i think i could have taught the classs better than he did. i think the school is wasting money by keeping this man on the payroll. if you don't do well on an exam it may be because he taught you wrong, that seems to happen.

Very nice guy, laid back. A bit confusing at times but very flexible and approachable.
Worst math teacher I've ever had. Made mistakes everyday. Boring class, never went tho and kept a B both semesters. Can't do much about it, its a required R1&R2 course.
class is very hard, even though its only a begining course. teaches ok but very hard to follow along and understand.
He's incredibly nice, very funny, and helpful as anything. The reviews are a priceless resource, and he's an overall great guy.
This guy is very nice and he tries, but he does make mistakes in class a lot and if it werent for students catching these errors he would probably teach it wrong. Do the homework! and Read the Book, but dont take Emond too seriously
He's a good guy, very approachable and relaxed!
I have had many bad math teachers in my time, but he may top them. Hes laid back but cant teach... hes confusing and makes at least 1 mistake a day. as a math teacher he pretty much sucks.
He is really nice and I want to believe that he'd be a better teacher if the class wasnt about 200 kids. I was failing because it just wanst working, but I passed the R1 and promptly got the **** out of there. He is nice and it took him less than 30 seconds to sign my drop class request form. He di
made to many mistakes..it was awful, he made atleast 5 mistakes a class..and i knew most of the material that he taught, but the way he taught it was confusing. If i hadn't known this stuff before hand i would of sat there and drooled all over myself.
good teacher, despite the huge classes
this professor is absolutely terrible. i took this course to keep my gpa up and all it has done for me is lower it. the way he teaches is terrible, he can never get anything right, hes always making mistake. he makes the easiest math hard because of the way he teaches. he is laid back but awful.
Very nice and laid back. Can't teach at all. I learned nothing!
Really nice and really tries to help he just doesnt seem to know what he is doing. He is not clear on the material. Advice- go to his office hours; he is alot more helpful when you are alone.
This guy was the man! Made everything easy and I've never been a math person. Sit in front, look out for his jokes, its a great class- never thought I'd say that about math- a little spacey but, A GOOD TEACHER
hes an all araound good guy. He tries to make the class fun and enjoyable but he isnt that great of a teacher in a big lecture. He makes a lot of mistakes and the class as a hole needs to watch out for them and tell him. Overall a good guy bad teacher with big classes.
He sucks at teaching. I don't learn anything from that class. AT ALL.
he's a really nice guy and all.. but he just doesn't know how to teach! everything is so confusing because of the way he explains it. half the time, the kids in the class have to explain it to HIM! because he makes mistakes all over the place and confuses HIMSELF. its crazy. i dont recommend him.
Worst teacher ever. He is so unorganized and doesn't know what he's doing half the time. Plus he tells the worst jokes ever.
This fellow needs to be put down before he inflicts any more pain on the rest of the townsfolk. His jokes are flat, his teaching skills are abominable. Worst off, he has a short temper for talkers and cellphones, going off on tirade if he hears even a peep. It felt like a high school class in there.
he is the worst teacher ever
I feel bad for this guy because it seems like he knows his stuff, he just lacks the ability to express it clearly to the students. His biggest fault is organization and preperation for the class. Some of the homework is pointless but exams aren't too bad. GO TO EXAM REVIEWS.
The lectures were confusing and poorly planned. he spent most of the time trying to correct mistakes he had made on the board. a HUGE waste of time.

this guy was terrible. the lectures were unorganized and he was not able to clearly teach the material. if you can avoid this guy, do it by all costs.
I can barely stay awake. Plus the entire class is confused. His TA teaches better than he can. I would switch classes if I could.
Take this class and then the R1 exemption test so you don't have to take 102 the next semester. You'll probably learn enough from 101 to pass it.
He is the worst math teacher I've ever had!
he's really confusing and makes tons of mistakes.. half the time he makes me mad and the other half i just feel bad for him

As a person he seems like a nice guy, but really bad at teaching and explaining things...wait wait...he never does explain anything at all what's he's doing up there on the board. He basically does the problem himself and then just says the answer is blah...god, bad teaching techniques.
I had him for two semesters. He is a very nice guy and no one gives him enough credit. Teaching wise, he does make mistakes, but tests..you either know it or you don't. that's how math generally tends to be. I found it easy and him easy to understand. He's one of my favorites :)
this man is a fool.he talks to us like we're a bunch of 10 year olds. he questions people who leave class early and wont let anyone sit in the back rows. he has no idea what hes doing and is pretty rude. he likes to call people out in class. he cant teach math at all, frequently makes mistakes&doesnt even teach the things on the homework he assigns
HE IS ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS I HAVE HAD
I hate him with the fire of 1000 suns. He's just obnoxious. Ugh. Also I hate pretty much everyone in my class, so that doesn't help at all.
He explains things really well, but makes alot of mistakes in his work. I still can't tell if he does it on purpose, so the students will catch the mistake, or if he really messes up all the time. the class sucks, but if youre not good at understanding math concepts, he makes things easier to understand.
Nice guy for the most part, makes a TON of mistakes. If you are someone who needs math done out step by step, get a tutor or find another professor because you will probably just end up being confused with Emond. The review sessions ARE the tests, so go to them, study the notes and you're set.
Not a good teacher. He should not be teaching this class, he doesnt explain anything well and doesnt have good communication skills. He always makes mistakes and his class is never interesting.
I thought this class was easy, but I took pre-calc in high school. For someone who doesn't know their stuff, Emond is a bad teacher. He makes tons of mistakes and enjoys yelling at people and confiscating cell phones. Not reccomended.
This guy is a terrible teacher. If he had to take the tests that he gives us, he would probably fail it.
He sucks. Cant explain anything and makes a ton of mistakes. he can be a real **** too.
Class wasn't too bad. Basically hands you the exam questions on a silver platter during the review sessions so always go to them.
SERIOUS EVALUATION- Brian Emonds is a horrible teacher. It was funny at first how many mistakes he made, then i downright felt bad for him, until you realize he is not a nice person when he is corrected. (approximatley 3-5 time a class-no lie) Do not take this class, horrible teaching, i honestly learned more in middle school.
Okay lets be fair, he teaches to a bunch of immature snobs who think its okay to talk during the entire class. He gives you the exam, he does review session in class which is the entire exam, he also offers a help center which is free, where the tutors will help you with anything. Not too bad, when he gets to know you!
Well, he's a good guy. A lot of people bash on him because of his mistakes. Hey, it's math, everyone, EVERYONE, makes mistakes. If you go to class, pay attention, and DO NOT SIT IN THE BACK ROWS, you will do fine. He's a good guy, tries to make people laugh but most people are just stuck up, or feel they are better than he is.
i agree he is not a bad guy...however he is the WORST teacher i have ever had. he is extremley confusing, does not know his material at all, makes frequent mistakes, then questions himself constantly...it's like he's teaching it to himself for the first time almost, he's not very good at explaining things either.
He's a good teacher
He's fair.Collects hmwk often.Sometimes messes up when teaching the material/writing down notes.Has his ADHD moments when he goes off track and tells us stories or weird/funny examples. If you're one of those chatter-boxes w/ your friends or you fall asleep in class,be ready to hear him tell you off.Overall, pretty cool guy.He cares + wants u 2 learn
i only took this class thinking it was an easy A and it is but then u get that damn B+. a total waste of time. the work made me feel like i was a sped. he can be a real jerk too and acts out in ****/stereotypical ways.
This Prof. is a very funny one. He has a great personality, my advice is to just do good on the exams and HW. I failed but i could have passed. LOL
Two words to describe Edmond: 1 Confusing 2 Fast. He doesn't understand that different students learn at a various paces. I hated this class, he made something so easy quite difficult and his TA's were like his pets..and they did not help at all. He would collect homework at random, which did not even count towards your grade, I believe worst class

Hands down my favorite teacher in college thus far! He gets a little bit tangled in the work, but wutdahell! He's fun, funny, and makes it worth your time being in class. Doesn't tolerate all the talking/goofing around and will confront you. This semester we basically relearned old material using an online course. If you ask him for help u get it.
He's a good guy. He wants everyone to do well and yea sometimes he's not clear but the mymathlab online that he uses makes the class earier to understand and you get a better grade if you do your work
I like him as a person..he tries so hard to be funny. But he uses courses such as Mymathlab.com so that he doesn't need to teach. In his defense, if ou memorize the practice tests you'll DEF. get an A like I did, but attendance is mandatory and yet you never learn a thing in class. Hes a good guy, and his office hours help, but who wants to go??
Okay, i've had this guy for two semesters. He's a decent teacher, really wants you to learn. classes can be a little dull, but c'mon its math! just make sure you always go attendance is a must!over all not a bad class
he knows nothing about math,we have never used the 150 dollar book, and the online program sucks because it is really confusing i suggest not taking this class if you dont have to
He's a good guy, he's kinda boring and he does try to be really funny.. but you have to humor the guy.. hes tryin..
Easy teacher. Don't bother buying the book, you don't even open it. You don't even have to attend class - all his notes are online that he teaches from.
Attendance is far from necessary. Several online homeworks and quizes that allow you to redo problems until you get them right. Lectures become quite random and aimless. Tests, homeworks, and quizes are incredibly easy. Professor is an extremely nice guy.
Prof. Emond is a good guy! Really wants to make sure you learn. All homeworks and quizes are online (easy) you can do it as many times as you want to get good grade. He does try to be funny - just laugh! Gives extra points for going to class 80% of time. He always wistled at our class to get attention, very anoying. Liked the class, Good Guy!
really don't need to go to class. He is a nice guy, but i didn't learn a thing in two semesters from him. The best thing about this class is the online homework, quizzes, textbooks, and review tests. I pretty much taught myself 101 and 102 but best thing ever! Dont go to lecture, use the online program you'll get more out of the class.
professor is nice and a good guy, but often explains things a little more confusing than necessary. wastes time talking to front row students at start of every class, come 5 minutes late, also takes really long to set up computer stuff. but tests are good via his awesome reviews and you can do the online hw's as many times as you want. i recommend
HONESTLY, how is this man teaching? the poor guy cannot even solve his own problem sets, and he gets pissed at the class when they dont work. People, hear my cries, do not take his classes, remember, you are paying!!!
Unless he decided to play the 'mandatory attendance' card upon your class, you don't need to go to this class. I taught myself everything in the class via the online program. He treats the class like a high school class and he needs to realize that not everyone's going to pay attention 100% of the time.
he tries to be a nice guy but the man makes more mistakes each class the the students, who are often the ones to correct him. it is impossible trying to learn from someone who does not even know the material himself.
Really nice guy. He makes an effort to ensure a good grade for everyone in the class, and he does his best to make math relevant. He does have his moments, however. He will treat the class as though we're in high school (or younger) and will often make math errors. If the math wasn't so easy, that would be a major issue.
He should NOT be teaching. He had to be corrected at least three times every class, he always shows up late, tells terrible jokes, and takes attendance. If you don't have to take this class, DON'T. It is an easy A, but it isn't worth it. He doesn't even know simple math, it is honestly painful to sit through.
"ProfE" as he signs his emails is a good guy but makes horrible jokes that no one laughs at, wears tacky sweaters, and makes errors while teaching class. He treats us like we're 16 and takes attendance. Threatens to take away phones/ipods if you have them out. He usually enters right as class starts and complains about computer updates ALL THE TIME
Great teacher...Math was never my subject but prof. E made it easy to understand! I would definitely take one of his classes again! His jokes might be dry but he's clear and easy to understand. You only need to buy the text for the MyMathLab code, Ive never used the book.
He gets corrected by students a lot and always comes late, but overall it's not bad. It is easy to look past the bad jokes because he is a nice guy and he has the student's best interest at heart. He gives really good review sessions and it is easy to get an A. Besides, the homework is really easy too.
I never go to this class, just go to the tests and you are set. All the material is posted online.
Nice guy, really is. Laid back when people aren't talking during lecture, Im horrible at math and he made it very stress free. Easy to do well in the class. Online program is a MAJOR step above using OWLS
Not being a math person, Emond does demand a lot. Although he gives homework every night it eventually pushes you to do your work. Emond is understanding and gives various opportunities to do well if you don't do well on exams. Although a bit strict at times he is an overall great guy.
He doesnt appresheate talking during class or use of cell phones, he will stop the whole class if u disrupt. Also he knows his material to a point, twords the end of trig he forgets what hes doing and messes everything up. Ask the TAs for help because he is pointless to ask. But homework is easy and counts for almost all your grade.
Overall easy class. There are two exams and a final. Homework is on my math lab and is worth most of your grade, so make sure to do your homework.
Easiest class ever depending how you are at basic algebra. I didn't go to class often, did all my homework (gives you infinite tries on mymathlab), and showed up for exams. Also very easy to test out of the second half of the class. The teacher himself was monotonous but is very willing to help. Didn't use book at all--just buy mymathlab.
Annoying teacher stuck in his own rigid ways. Not clear and needed to be corrected on what he's teaching! Take stats instead if you need to fulfill R1, R2 requirements.
So easy. Literally, the only times I went to class was when he reviewed for the tests. All the homework is online, and when he reviews for the test he tells you exactly what #1-25 will look like. He can be moody, though, and sometimes acts like we're in high school. But overall, I thought it was an easy A.
Constantly did examples wrong and when called out instead of fixing it he would argue and just move on. Was unclear about expectations for exams. Class is wicked easy, but he is frustrating and rude.
This class is kind of a joke, it's so easy. I went to less than half 1st semester and literally 4 classes 2nd semester. It was a lot like the math I took junior year in high school. If you do the online homework & go to the reviews, you're good. His idea of a review is 1. looks like this, 2. looks like this, etc... too easy.
Explained math better than any math teacher I had ever had. I was never good at math in high school but because of his class, I can understand it now. Homework and exams are very important to grade but if you're not someone who can self teach, going to class will help a lot.
This guy knows his stuff. He explains stuff very thoroughly and if you pay attention, it is an easy A. Homework is all online, but he will assign about 30 problems a night, but it's not even that bad. Overall good professor.
Best math teacher I have ever had. He is patient, kind and helpful. I recommend this class!
Prof. Emond is patient, kind and helpful. I recommend this class!
Great teacher! Patient and thoughtful presentation of information. Answers questions thoroughly. It is important to go to test reviews.
Makes class very easy, and is attentive to helping students learn and get good grades. His grading policies give more than they take, he reopened hw just to be nice. His tests are easy as long as you do the study worksheet before them. Genial guy with a great sense of humor.
Professor Emond is a sweet, sweet man. He's very lenient with deadlines and one of the nicest professors I've had since being at UMass. He was very helpful and truly showed an interest in helping us understand the material. As long as you do the online homework, you'll be fine. Good R1 GenEd!
Professor Emond is the nicest guy. He is extremely dedicated to helping his students do well & is pretty laid back. If you do not understand something in lecture go to his office hours - Professor Emond is extraordinarily helpful during this time. Do the homework & use the practice tools provided on MyMathLab to prepare for each exam.
Nice guy. He gives test review seets that are the test questions but w/ diff #s: very helpful!! Other than that, he doesn't know what he's talking about, makes a lot of errors, often argues with students about those errors/their questions and what he teaches in class is different from the hw, which you have to pay $80 to access mymathlab.
One of the best professors I have ever had. He explains the material very well. If you don;t understand he will help you. Exam reviews are very helpful. Exams are easy if you pay attention in class and review.
He was a very easy professor. Gave us the questions on the exam prior to the exam. Made it impossible to fail. Must do your homework each class though. EASY A!
Online class easy if you do your homework. You are able to work through the MML which is easy to follow. If you don't understand something professor will respond to questions timely. He lets you know exactly what will be on the final exam so you can prepare. Go over homework examples and final review. Final will be an easy A.
Great, professor, knows what he's talking about and explains it very easily to the class. Has a tendency to write mistakes on his projector but he corrects them pretty quick (a plug instead of minus, etc..). Homework and exams are easy.
He is very nice and makes class super easy, but he always makes mistakes. He thinks everyone thats in his class is stupid because how low the class level is. He doesn't respond to emails and is late putting up your grades. as long as you do your homework you'll get an A+
he scared me at first. hes super strict about electronics and will throw you out if he catches you, but hes the only math teacher ive had that cares. hes actually very helpful and nice although he puts up such a tough front. id recommend him. as a side note, he tells slightly inappropriate jokes, but it does help you remember in class material.
Brian is very nice and goes through the material slowly so it's easy to understand. I'm bad at math and I got an A. He's ridiculously strict when it comes to cell phones though. He'll kick you out of class if he sees it even sitting on your desk. He tends to treat everyone like they're dumb and he makes a lot of mistakes, but it's not a bad class.
Cons: Strict with electronics, teaches in circles, doesn't always teach the material covered on the homework which is mandatory, Pros: Friendly and keeps class interesting, Reviews before tests show an example of each question, helpful, easy if you keep up with the material
I loved this class. Emond is very helpful. He explains things very thoroughly. Homework is every night and is usually harder than the problems done in class, but he is very very lenient. Grading is very fair. He will act tough (he hates cell phones!) but for the most part is really kind. Also tells jokes.
Great professor, he is a wonderful person to be around. He finds ways to make students laugh, and even if his jokes are not funny, he genuinely tries to make us laugh. He is a very fair grader as well. Study and attend lectures and you will do really well.
Brian is a really great guy and tries add a little humor into his lectures. He's very helpful and gives you a lot of chances, but he doesn't tolerate people who don't pay attention. Awesome professor!
Cool teacher. Last semester teaching, he is retiring. Sometimes confusing lectures. Lots of homework on MathLab, which I enjoyed.
I'm just finishing the class now, and I can certainly say that he's a great professor. Unfortunately he's retiring at the end of the semester, but fortunately for my class, as a gift of his appreciation, he cancelled our 8 A.M. final. Very effective teacher, I certainly learned a lot.
Lectures were relatively short and easy to follow. He was always happy to explain in a different way if you didn't understand. All homework was online and easy to keep up with. Sometimes willing to extend due dates if there is a time crunch. Only 3 tests, including the final. Possible random attendance quizzes. Would definitely recommend. :)
Makes what he teaches more difficult than the material actually is. It's Math100- Basic Math skills and he is treating it as if its rocket science. A very easy class but that has nothing to do with him. He makes the class more confusing than it needs to be.
