Absolutely amazing! Recommend to anyone who's looking for really learning economics and enjoying it at the same time.
He's the best Economic teacher in Foothill college. You learn a lot in class (more than any other econ teachers) but his homeworks are tricky most of the time. Give gives real life example and very interesting!

a good one. Hard short answer quiz. Fast and a little soft talking. Overall, very good. You really can learn something and if you study you will get good grade. Best thing is if you take notes, you never need to buy his $60 textbook.
Awesome Teacher! This is not an easy class, but he actually makes economics fun and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this class to anyone.
Tough Class. Can learn a lot in his class. But not easy to get a Good rate, unless u r really hardworking
Great teacher. He really has a passion for economics which in turn keeps the class interesting. Explained topics clearly and related them to real world issues.
Absolutely the best!! Excellent lectures, always ready to answer your questions and help with anything, just superb! And your knowledge after the class...WOW!
Excellent teacher! Interesting lectures, he's very helpful and knowledgable. Highly recommend!
Good guy. Doesn't respond to stupid comments. Willing to help. 80% grade is best 6 or 7 quiz/tests. Other 20% is Aplia (fairly easy to get 100%). For an overall grade of 85% or higher, he gives an A (because he doesn't curve tests throughouth quarter).
You really need to pay attention in his class. He is really passionate about econ which helps the time fly. However, I found his tests extremly hard, but he grades on a curve.
Tests are EXTREMELY hard (class average was usually in the 60% range). They are open-book, but don't rely on the book without studying. The good thing is that the teacher is helpful, and the course is graded on a curve. Assignments are very well set up
he's an awesome teacher and makes econ enjoyable. the only bad thing is that there are about 7 tests and they're pretty hard; especially the short answer ones. he's got a great personality, assigns lots of xtra credit, and he's hot. ;)
This teacher is awesome!!! He turns what could be a boring class and makes it fun and interesting. He is willing to hep you and he is very enthusiatic about his subject, However, his tests are extremely hard he grades on a curve.
His goal of teaching Econ is just simply letting you to know more about "Economy" and have more fun in reading the financial articles. That's student-oriented. That's totally different from the teachers in Hong Kong who just intended to train us
I really enjoyed the Econ-classes with Brian. He is enthusiastic and his classes are well worth while. Very knowledgeable. Highly recommended.
I highly recommend people to take Mr. Evans courses. You are only going to gain a lot from it but also will have fun and get a good grade in it. He is very flexible in grading, even though tests are very hard. Great class..Great teacher
brian is a good teacher, his exams and test are quite hard, and he gives a lot of aplia assigments. you really have to work hard in his class.
I have taken both Econ classes from this dude. His class i just as cool has himself.
Best teacher I have EVER had... his testa are pretty hard and you have to work really hard because you have lots of Aplia assignments each week. I truly recommend this teacher!!! Both in 1A & 1B.
Very good. Very helpful. Very knowledgeable. You will learn a lot. Warm recommendations to Brian’s class.
Excellent, sporty, humoristic guy~ Very clear teaching, u will get gd grades if u drop his notes from class. 80+% to get an A. I just noticed he can speaks Japanese well >0<!!
He is really nice and helpful. His class is interesting! Although there are lots of tests but not very hard. You can still get A if u score 80 something. Also, u can drop the lowest score test. Strongly recommend~~~~~~~~
he teaches really well. it wasn't easy A class, but I learned a lot!!
I've taken econ 1a and 1b with Evans....he's an awesome teacher (kinda cute) He's very clear with his material and he grades on a CURVE. yeah!
Really hard but clear. Homework online and quite a lot of homework. Very helpful!! HOT!! His test are really tough!!
Great teacher, but tests are REALLY HARD!!! But he grades on the curve. Not easy to get A
Wonderful teacher, always willing to help, read the book and you will be able to know everything, and especially pay attention to the notes, they are really helpful to study by. That's all you need to get an A.
Great Teacher!! lots of fun. he gives great examples. He's the reason why I love econ now.
Tries his very best and effort to explain to students. Encourages students to go find him during office hours. He is always open, as long as you go find him and when he's there! He doesnt mind staying over after class time to explain to whatever the questions you have. STRONGLY recommend him 4 ECON.
Great guy, tries very hard to help the students understand the material. Can speak Japanese. Highly recommended.
THE BEST theacher ever!!!! Cool guy!!! Trys his best to explain material. Lots of fun to study economics with him. Just take notes on his lectures and you'll have A
He is a cool dude who knows his**** and is straight up with you. He obviously cares and I found his teaching style to be very cool...low stress but still intellectually vigorous. The class is easy as well and that is always good (in addition to being interesting). Def recommend the class andteacher
He is sooooooo cool and nice~~ I love him!
he is great
He is an excellent teacher and very nice person. His class is very interesting, and he is very clear about every concept. I learned a lot from him. He made me love economics. I will take the Econ 1B with him next quarter.
He is a very good teacher! He always took time for me at 8(!)AM and after classes into lunchtime. He is so much fun and not too shy to talk about his private life. And he answers EVERY email, believe me, I wrote a lot!;)You definitely learn sth for your future and life by real-world examples!Take him!
Keeps his class interesting and manages to be clear enough that macro econ is not a prerequisit (although having prior knowledge of econ does help). A great man who understands his students and is very willing to help answer questions. Take his class and you won't regret it. 4.5 of 5 stars.
Excellent class! I recommend Brian to anyone. Really understanding, always helpful, examples that keep the class interested in the subject at hand. Majorly generous curving for the grades, too. Didn't care for economics, but I definitely find myself pursuing another two quarters in his classes
his class is fun. i hv neva attend any econ class b4 his, which makes me nervous. However, it turn out to b great. hes not tht ec, bt he will let u UNDERSTAND the material.
HANDSOME AND HELPFUL GUY. HIS CLASS IS FUNNY BUT BECOME BORING SOMETIMES. YOU CAN GET AN A AS LONG AS YOU COPY ALL HIS NOTES AND PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS.
Tests are hard because they are short answer and not multiple guess. Very interesting lectures, I learned a lot. Knows his stuff, very helpful.
Every example in class has to do with beer (whhoooo PARTY)!!!!
Take good notes during his lectures and you won't to do the reading. Tests are somewhat hard, but he grades the class on a huge curve
Greatest professor at Foothill. He's fun, helpful and great at teaching. If you're about to take any econ-class, take it with Brian if possible. However, you should take notes carefully, because the tests will almost entirely be based on material from the lectures.
HE IS VERY BORING, AND HE DOESN'T LIKE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS BESIDES HE LIKES GIRLS SO IF YOU ARE A BOY DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS. HIS TRYING TO MAKE HIS CLASSES VERY DIFFECULT LIKE FOR EXAMPLE HIS ONLINE CLASS. I WILL DIFFENETELY ADICE YOU DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT TAKING ANY OF HIS CLASSES.
He is a good teacher,I am studying econ for the first time but he explains the material so clearly ,so it doesn't matter that u r taking for the first time or not.His tests r hard but if u concentrate on his lecture u ll be able to solve 80%-95% of his tests questions. In one word he is the best econ.teacher in foothill!!!
U think ur smart but lazy? Well take his class and A's it without reading the book, but only come to lectures. THIS CLASS IS FOR SMART-LAZY STUDENTS!! RECOMMENDED!!! I A's this class easy without reading the book. I only come to lectures. Good teacher. Good Friend.
he is a good teacher but really set the quiz hard,so if u want to get good grade don't take him.
It was a great class, need to read a lot and do a lot of studying, but it's very interesting.
SAVE MONEY!!! take his classes because he uses the OLD-VERSION of the text and you can get it online for 10$ rather than 100$ @ bookstore. ECONOMICALLY EFFICIENT TEACHER!!!! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ SAVED!! $$$$$
It's annoying to read negative comments on Brian because he's easily the most engaging teacher I've ever had and never short with anyone, no matter how stupid the question. Open to everyone, thorough, lively, damned interesting lecturer. Unless you're a waster, you won't regret taking him. He's not too easy, but what are you taking econ for anyway?
Brian is very energetic and enthusiastic teacher. His lectures are structured and helpful. Do not afraid to ask him any question: he likes them and always ready to answer. To take econ 1A and 1B simultaneously is a good idea. The first 2,5 weeks are same for both classes (you can visit only 1 class), which is efficient in terms of time. Good luck!
I blew it in this class by getting a B. Don't take 1B first, because you get lazy learning the same things in the beginning of 1A. Brian was as clear as could be, if you listen and do the reading you will probably get an A. It's not a hard subject. He's into Econ, and that really helps. Totally recommend.
Hard class. The curve was crazy though. It was a hard class to take over the internet. I felt that some of the material could have been better presented if it were in a classroom setting. He seems like a nice guy though. As I said, the curve was crazy. (a lot of ppl still failed though)
chill teacher, gives great examples that students can easily relate to. what other teacher uses beer in their examples? tests are a little hard but with the curve it's really easy. make sure to go to class and there's really no need to read the book
very cool, a bit boring at times but that may have been because i had friends in the class. One of the only teachers that didnt get mad when i answered my phone in class.
I'm taking Econ classes Santa Clara University now, and Mr.Evans' classes made it so easy for me at SCU. He covers what you need to move on. Learn Indifference curves..(although it gets boring sometime) but u'll need it later on.
One of the best teachers at Foothill! One of my favorites too!
it is sooooo hard. he's nice but, you can't expect the test from the book! do not study book in our class, half of class got F on first and second exam. most of students worried about their low scores at end of the quater. i do not recommended!
Unfortunately errs towards class lectures rather than readings, but this is good if you pay attention in class and never open the text book anyway (which I don't). However, if you miss a class or two, you will have a hard time catching up. A laid-back, easy going guy. Pretty lenient, people who fail genuinely don't have a grasp of the material.
His lectures is the law of the classroom, its all you need to know, and all that is on the test. DO NOT!!! DO NOT!!! read the book and skip class. Books are helping in understanding the material but not that helpful in getting A's on his test. COME TO CLASS, use some brain, EZ A's.
Mr. Evans is a excellent Econ teacher. Everyone can get an A if they are listening in class. However, students who take his class should glimpse the textbook before class because he is teaching pretty fast that you will be confused if you have completely no idea about the class material. Don't hesitate to ask him question. He will explain clearly.
Take his class! Very interesting and clear. Tests are short questions. easy easy!
Great teacher, grades on a curve
great teacher. no need to buy the book... if you show up to class, take notes, and pay somewhat attention you'll do fine. grades on a curve which is awesome, tests aren't that hard if you study. Highly reccomend
very nice and helpful teacher, grades on a curve, if you need to take econ, then take him! just dont cheat or he will fail you... but other than than, you'll get an A or a B
His class is difficult, but he is a good teacher, and you will learn a lot. The material is VERY hard, but he is good at explaining it and uses interesting examples, and those examples actually economics interesting. He is always helpful and willing to answer questions in class and during office hours.
Had for Econ 1A, 1B, 25. Very good at explaining concepts, and the real-world context for abstract models. The Colander text is excellent and I highly recommend reading it despite the fact that his lectures are more important. Uses a curve that allows a large number of students to get A or B grades. Pleasant, good at handling student questions.
One of the best teachers at FH! Simply great, kind patient and understanding... Expects a lot from students so make sure you study.. Material is ok but tests are kinda hard.. But u learn so much and he is a super nice guy!
Not helpful at all.
He is a very good Econ teacher. He knows what he is talking about. His lecture's clear. He is willing to explain to you in detail if you have any question. There were three short-answer tests and one final. He drops the lowest test and gives plenty of extra credit opportunities!
He is the best instructor I met. He is really helpful and very much willing to answer and explain student's questions. Attendence is very important for his class. If you don't go to the lecture, there is no way to do good on his exams. His tests are kind of hard, but as long as you study, you will do fine.
Great teacher!! Great Class! However, don't be fooled with his test and try to cheat. Eventhough all of his tests have the same color, they are different form--he doesn't tell you this. My friend thought he gave out the same test for everyone and tried to copy my answer. I ended up with 95% and my friend has 45% on the midterm.
Harder than Brian Evans...That ain't possible. this teacher is the hardest ever... Always giving stupid examples and failing grades. He is not helpful at all. Brian... DAMN!!! you wanna pass your Econ class, please, please don't take him... Jay Patyk is way better and way more interesting!!! peace
Best ECON teacher I ever had in my life. This guy is AWESOME! He explains everything so clear. All you have to do is go to class, pay attention and take notes!! You dont even have to read the book. JUST PAY ATTENTION!! Ask questions. Be involved in class discussions.
Brian Evans is a GREAT teacher. He made a tough subject bearable. He's very good at explaining things. There's a fair amount of homework on Aplia.com (required $35 fee to access). There are 4 exams with the lowest score dropped. Exams are mostly from the lecture notes & handouts rather than the text. All exams are short answer. Highly recommend.
Brian is a great teacher!!! His lecture is fantastic! He makes complex things easy to understand. Don't miss a class if I were you. I've taken him for all of my econ courses. Highly recommended for Economics students!!
Not useful at all.He always make stupid examples and he never use the textbook. His exam are based on the lecture notes only. I spent many hours on the textbook and it was a total waste of time.GOSH!!!Not recommend if you want a good GPA. Heres the fact; the majority of students quit his class after the mid-term. because it was EXTREMLY hard.
This a moderately difficult class, but nowhere near impossible. Mr. Evans does a fine job explaining the material and is always willing to explain something again if needed. The grading policy is fair. It's on a curve and the lowest quiz gets dropped. If you haven't noticed, EVERY class has a drop in enrollment around midterm!
0.0 Kind of shocked that Mr. Evans will come up to ratemyprofessors.com. Well, I think Mr. Evans is a good teacher. He explains theories very clearly with daily life examples. I doubt that his course is hard when he drops some of the harder questions in exams and he lets you drop the lowest exam score. I never studied Economics and I still got A.
Very helpful and engaging
Great teacher - very clear lectures - moves at a good pace - makes you want to study economics. One of the bestest - highly recommeded!
He is passionate about econ and makes boring textbook concepts into easy to understand real-life examples. Aplia internet assignments were the hardest for me but everything else he explains clearly. This is not a class you can just breeze through, lots of effort.. but overall i enjoyed it !
He is passionate about econ and turns boring textbook concepts into understandable real-life examples. Aplia online assignments were the hardest part for me but everything else he explains clearly. This is not a class you can breeze through takes lots of effort and overall i enjoyed it.
Brain Evans is an excellent econ teacher. He knows his stuff and manages class time very well. Highly recommended!
he has a sweet personality :] very patient and caring. his notes are a bit disorganized but you'll get them if u listen carefully. he's a great teacher anddddd......he gives HUGE CURVEs!!! i was surprised on my final grade.
he is excellent. i cant got 4.0 gpa without him!thx brianXD
great teacher, enthusiastic
He is really smart in the subject, you might think otherwise, but listen carefully and it'll make sense. I you are there and care a little you'll get a C, but if you put the same enthusiam that he puts into the class and you do the work you can get an A!!! Love this professor... changed my life!!
He was really helpful
Best teacher in Foothill. Go to his class and pay attention and you will get an A with ease. You will gain a lot in his class. Highly recommended.
I love Brian! Just a real nice guy that loves Economics. Very chill and funny. I will, without a doubt, take him for 1B as well. Notes are the key to doing well on the tests. He has consistent office hours and is always, ALWAYS open to help! Highly recommended!
THE BEST TEACHER EVER!! Ok so lets be honest, Econ, not the most interesting but an AMAZING teacher!Very helpful, the only complaint I have is how quickly he moves through material, sometimes he talks to fast, but other than that the class was great! I definitely recommend getting a tutor, with a tutor the class is alot easier! GREAT teacher though!
You will fall in love with him( joking). The nicest person in this plannet. Nice lecture that you will not regreted. Clear economic concept. However, his tests are too difficult and tricky for beginers in econ. If you had taken Econ before. you should 100% take him. Don't take him if you haven't study this subject before.
A great professor and a great guy. ECON 25 was the first class I took with him (so ECON 1A/1B might be easier).HARD CLASS in terms of exams and quizes, not enough time for quizes. Concepts-not a rocket science but need a lot of studying. 2 Quizes-MC, 3 exams-short answer q's - hard. Very helpful if you clarify w/ him. Take MACRO BEFORE that.
He seemed like a really nice, laid-back guy. I had never taken economics before, so I struggled throughout the quarter, worked really hard to pull an A. Never missed a class and I got the grade I deserved. I learned a lot from him. It was all worth it at the end.
Excellent teacher, i think his class is quite easy (i took econ in my home country), and he explains concept clearly. You got lots of "flexible" points on Aplia, and he is helpful also!
This teacher doesn't use a textbook, instead he uses an online program called Aplia, however this Aplia program is completely bogus and is unclear, this teacher is a cool person, but i'd argue that he is very unsympathetic towards students STAY AWAY!
Mr. Evans is an excellent economics teacher. From day one you know when every test is and what chapters to read His lessons are clear and the worksheets are very helpful. I struggled a little at the middle of the quarter but it is not an impossible A. Don't miss class, it puts you way behind. I will definitely take from Mr. Evans again.
Brian is an AMAZING Econ teacher. The key to his class is you NEED to show up & take notes. Tests are almost entirely based on lecture material. If you're confused w/ Aplia or lecture material, ask during class/office hours (he's really helpful & great at clarifying). Challenging class but an A is achievable. Work hard & you'll get what you deserve
i don't know what to say...the best economics teacher in the world! he can always answer your questions! there is no room for improvement for him because he is best of the best!
Interesting teacher, very smart in his subject. However don't take this class if you want an easy A. The tests are hard. It takes a good amount of studying or prior knowledge of economics if you want to succeed. Overall, I am glad I took his class!
Great Class! Prof. Evans is a great economics professor. As will most professors, you have to show up and actually read/do the worksheet material to do well in the course, but hey, isn't that why we are in class anyway, to learn? Very enthusiastic teacher about economics who will challenge assumptions that you have going into the course
Great teacher, but a tough class, a lot of the concepts towards the middle of the quarter a quite difficult. The final is about 90% based on the lectures and worksheets.
Taking a note is very important, so listening to lecture is needed. There are 4 tests. the first is multiple choice. The second is writing. The third is multiple choice. The fourth is writing. The tests are hard not easy A and not for beginners.
This guy is awesome! One of the best teacher's I've ever had. Not an easy class, but extremely fair grading method. If you haven't taken econ before you have to put in the effort to get an A. But I guarantee if you go in with a positive attitude, and actively participate you will learn a lot of great stuff.
the tests are too hard
Great teacher but definitely not an easy class. Concepts get tought at the end and there's quite a lot of assignments. Must take notes because he may ask about stats not covered in the book. Tests are not easy but he always gives bonus points. It's worth the effort to take him and clear all the concepts than get an easy A and not learn
Great teacher. After some intermediate econ and a graduate econ course, his courses are still the most relevant to the world that I have taken. One of the two best teachers I've ever had at explaining econ, the other is Ted Bergstrom. Students and Foothill are lucky to have Brian Evans. He's a joy from which to learn and a consummate professional.
Great Teacher! It's definitely not an easy but he allows enough room for error so that as long as you show up to every class, do ALL hw (aplia can be very difficult so even though he allows 40 "flex" points is important to stay on top of it), and take notes from each lecture, you should have no problem getting at least a B. Also has a lenient curve
Great teacher. Really knows his stuff. He's a really nice guy as well and very helpful. I'm not into ECON too much, but he made it really interesting. I would like to take another class from Brian Evans.
Brian is a great teacher. I took the online class and enjoyed it. The class is hard but he really helps students to understand the subject. He is also very encouraging.
Greatest professor in Foothill! Although his tests and exams are not easy and require thorough understanding of the material, his classes are very well-organized and his lectures are crystal clear - I would definitely recommend him!
He is okay....very overrated I feel.
Professor Evans is a very intelligent and skilled professor. He gives clear and entertaining lectures and he will always answer questions. His tests are tricky, unless you commit things to memory and understand them quickly you will need to study for his exams.
Professor Evans is a very nice and friendly guy. I recommend for anyone who is willing to put in 7-8 hours a week in studying and he's not for someone with a heavy schedule (something I learned). Overall I recommend the guy!
Great Professor! Very helpful during office hours. Good lecture but moves quickly. I got a 77% on the first quiz (didn't study enough) and wound up with a solid A in his class, so there is definitely room for errors. Your grade is based entirely on quizzes and the final so take each one seriously.
super nice professor. he makes econ very interesting. make sure you go to mist of his classes since a lot of materials on the tests are based on the lecture he gives. tests are not easy, and you gotta really understand the material. definitely cannot get good grades only by memorizing. i've learned a lot from his class!
If Econ is not one of your favorites, DO NOT TAKE this guy!! He does not help you that much when having troubles. The final grade is based on 40 something% midterms (Participation in the forum is SUPPOSE to help you) and the 50 something% is based on the final. If you have a bad day when taking the final (2 hrs 30-40 short answer, problems) tricky!
I am not good at econ in my high school, but Mr. Evans makes econ very interesting. His lectures are very clear and his office hours are very helpful. Quizzes and Final are fine as long as you understand the concept. Definitely the best teacher in Foothill College.
Fantastic professor. If you value your education you should milk the most you can possibly get out of Brian's classes. He is a brilliant man and a great professor. It was a privilege being taught by him. He is not an easy professor, but nothing worthwhile is easy. If you like economics, take his class. I did and now I am an Econ Major.
Willing to help and really wants you to succeed in his class. Always available during office hours.
Classes are fast-paced and he talks like crazy, giving all sorts of real life examples in order to make subjects more clear. If you pay attention you will learn a lot. Tests can be tough, it's not an easy A, but you will get there if you study from the textbook and the handouts. Really good class and professor, I recommend!
Professor Evans is an amazing Econ professor. He makes our complex economy easy to understand with real-world current examples along with examples from history. He makes Econ interesting. My favorite class this quarter.
He really is a great teacher. He goes kinda fast but the content is really interesting. Come to class every day and don't get behind! And he really isnt that hot ha I dont know what everyone is talking about. He is very nice tho.
I took Econ 25 online with mr evans. He is really helpful and nice. He just wants to see that you are putting effort into learning. Hes a funny guy and tries to make it interesting. I recommend him!
I don't like Econ and passed his class. If you like it and understand it take him. I would buy the text book or some sort of book though. I don't like online textbooks and I should have bought the Physical book
Excellent class for ESL learners, a lot of enthusiasm, interesting concepts, awesome practice, homeworks and final test.
He is a smart guy. I love his " economist" attitude. Thats what you don't see in other social science class. Talk to him!
People may say that he is hard and everything. He gives a trick question and make you think. But darn it! He is a good teacher! :) He really helps alot and explain really clearly! eventhough its not my easiest econ class, but yeah he's on my favorite teacher list! :)
This is a really cool guy. Although I did not really enjoy the Foothill campus, this class was very engaging and the students are generally more eager to participate. Remember, it's economics, you should probably have a general interest in the subject if you consider taking these courses. However, you won't go wrong with Mr. Evans. Best of Luck!
One of the best classes i have taken at Foothill. Brian Evans made class very interesting and enjoyable. He does have tricky questions on his assignments but they will help you fully understand the study of economics once you figure them out. My only wish now is that I wish I took his class for Econ 1A.
He is the best teacher at Foothill College so far. His question may be tricky, but it will surely help you to understand the materials. What you need is to attend every single class & pay 100% attention to what he is saying and you are good. Take him if you really want to UNDERSTAND econs.
The online class was easy enough. We had 4 online quizzes (read mid term) that you could google half your way through. The homework is pretty easy as well. Everything is multiple choice except for final which is short response/paragraph style. The final wasn't bad at all if you read the book and understand the concepts well.
He is really a great teacher I must admit. I did my best but in the end, I failed to get an A. There are very little extra credit. If you plan to get an A, be prepare to get around 90%+ in every tests and finals. Also, a perfect homework grade including the flex points he gave. I'm really upset but all the best for your decision. :)
Professor Evans is an incredible teacher. His lectures are clear and detailed, and I found that I didn't need to use the textbook at all. His tests are challenging but he curves his grades accordingly and dropped the lowest test score. He also gives 20 "flex points" for homework so you can make mistakes without worrying it will impact your grade.
Evans is just to confusing. Expects to much from his CC students. He is a reasonable guy, but don't an expect an A. Majority of the class will get a B or a C.
Lots of extra credits and easy midterms. Recommended.
Extremely chill and helpful instructor. The lectures are not boring but cover the material and are insightful. He is open to helping his students and very encouraging of success. He wants his students to succeed and gives everyone the opportunity to do so. Not difficult to get an A if you are willing to study and ask for his help when you need it.
His lectures are very interesting but definitely not an easy professor. He curves high on the quizzes however, they are extremely tricky. If you are really interested in taking Econ I would recommend Brian however, if this is just for a GE I would take someone easier like Velasco. It's very difficult to get an A in this class.
Very great teacher. I took this class for general education, so I didn't have much interest in the subject, but he made it extremely awesome and interesting. Tests aren't the easiest, but manageable if you attend class. I never opened the book and the online quizzes aren't too bad. Also gives extra credit.
Lectures are helpful and concise. Not a lot of busy work, homework and tests are challenging but his grading policies are pretty generous. Textbook not needed IF you show up and pay attention. One of the best teachers I've ever had, he works very hard to help students understand economic concepts. Recommend taking all ECON classes with him if able.
I took Macro with him and thought he was a good teacher. Like any other college class, this is a hard class so dont expect an easy A. But darn it, he is such a good teacher! You really understand the subject of Economics from Brian. Highly recommend taking it with him.
Very clear and as long as you attend all of the lectures and take notes, you don't need the textbook. He is helpful, funny, and easygoing. Definitely taking another class from him.
Classy guy, with great people skills. He's willing to go the extra mile, and gets you thinking outside of the classroom as well. If you work study hard and show interest, Brian rewards your efforts with curves and flexible grading, so you can strictly focus on the material, and appreciate it for what it really is.
I have never really been good at Econ nor have I ever found it that interesting but I loved Evans' class, it was one of the best classes I took at Foothill. He makes everything interesting and is a great teacher. You will want to show up to his class every day.
best teacher ever. take him.
In a nutshell: (I received a high grade because I taught myself) very confusing, you have to read a lot to pass, but it doesn't necessarily have to be his book to pass. He's unhelpful. If you get an F on a test, he'll tell you that you will pass. more than half the class dropped.
Amazing professor who teaches like he is on crack and I love it! First day he says "If I see you're working hard and need help, I'm going to work hard to help you". Never read the book bc I listened to his lectures and took notes. He teaches wa constant role of information going so make sure to pay attention. He really changed the way I think!
Professor Evans was awesome at creating an interactive community for our on-line class; he made is really feel part of a class and made interacting fun. He always responded very quickly to any emailed or posted questions.
When I took micro and macro with him in 2013-2014 academic year, I barely opened the books. His lectures are thorough, and entertaining. In both classes there is a lot of material to cover, but he goes over almost everything. Showing up to class alert (drink coffee if necessary), and taking good notes is the key. Tests are not extremely difficult
Brian is a cornerstone of Foothill's economics department. His lectures are easy to understand but full of important information. Show up and pay attention and you should have no issues with his classes. He is happy to help students succeed if you reach out to him.
Evans is a good prof, in terms of explaining things. I read and studied alot. But alot of things on the test were pretty tricky. That was one aspect i could deal with. But some things i didnt like was how there were more things we didnt go through that were on the test.
I have now taken three classes with Mr. Evans, and loved every single one of them! As far as the classroom goes, he is super funny, he is lighthearted, and he explains the criteria in detail. By far one of the best teachers at Foothill. I wish he had more classes to take
Brian will change your perspective on learning completely. He makes you work for your grade and it is not impossible to get an A final grade. All his quizzes are hard but not impossible. If you study and understand the concepts, you will be fine. Finals was ok. Don't take this class if you're expecting an easy A. Only take it if you are interested.
Great teacher! I would take him again. People think he is a hard grader, but he is only making you think harder. Actually an easy class, well structured and very inspirational. Focus on understanding the concepts and taking the best notes you can. He is fast but that keeps you awake. I loved his class and got a good grade. Plus he's very nice guy.
Evans is hilarious and entertaining. His HW is a little tricky but doable. Go to his Lab hours for help and very helpful teacher. He cares about his students and wants them to learn. HW and Tests can be somewhat tricky, but overall a great proffesor. Gives out flex points on HW and Extra Credit. Would take again.
Professor Evans was extremely hilarious and thorough. Homework was easy and he gave few flex points so you don't have to be perfect. The only reason I got a B was because of his quizzes. They can be very tricky at time, which hurts your grade a lot because he's not a flexible grader. Overall, take notes, and don't get tricked on the tests.
The easiest class I have ever taken. Fun, inspiration, and, most importantly, too easy. I sincerely recommend him to everyone!
Lecture is really helpful and you'll learn a lot if you understand and focus on class. But most of quiz are short answer and sometimes it's very tricky so it would be not easy to get good grade.
This class made me choose econ as my major! Literally had zero interest in the subject before this class, but he makes it so engaging. I felt like I finally saw how economics impacts our daily lives. He will spend as much time as you need outside of class. Even if the subject scares you, do the homework and go to class- you will surprise yourself
LOVE HIM. There's 5 quizzes, 1 every 2 weeks. Same with the hw, 5 total with 1 every 2 weeks. He gives you essentially 20 EC hw questions, so you can miss 20 total and still get a 100 in hw. Curves quizzes and drops lowest quiz. No tests other than the quizzes or the final. Really funny and gives good tangible examples. You can tell he loves it!
Brian's lectures are clear, though fast-paced and requiring a lot of attention. If you pay attention and take the notes, ou will realize that this teacher is just hilarious. However, his quizzes are extremely ambiguous, unclear and tricky. To get a good grade, you must study a lot, but it buys back if you do. Take him if you like the subject!!
Take his class if you are interested in Econ. Don't take his class if your looking to get a grade. His class discussions are very interesting and youll learn a lot from him. However, I feel like he doesn't prepare students well enough for the tests. He puts some things that were uncovered or hardly covered in lectures.
He is a GREAT professor! Always there to help when you are struggling! There are no tests or midterms, though. Only five quizzes, so you have to make sure you do well on them! The homework is also limited but counts as a significant portion of your grade. Both are tough and challenging. I highly recommend a study group or tutor if you need help!
I took this class without taking Econ first so my fault that I was behind. I really enjoyed the modules online and once we did an online class study session for our final it began to click. I would definitely suggest taking his class in person because his tests are extremely hard as well as the homework - with minimal points
Did not explain material in a clear way Trick ques on exams Not helpful when you have scheduling conflicts I had a hard time understanding the material, the textbook was confusing The final was closed book, short answer, really hard, ques on exam were not explained or focused on in class Needs a better teaching format so students can actually learn
Brian is one of the best professors I have taken. His lectures are great and I only wish I had taken Econ 1A with him as well. Yes, his tests are tough and he makes you work for your grades, but he is very helpful in the process and tries to give as much of his time as he can to help each and every student succeed.
Professor Evans is amazingly gifted at creating a wonderful on-line community for the class, which really helps you learn the material and enjoy the class more.
His lecture was amazing! His way of talking is so funny that I wouldn't want to skip any class. If I were a business major, I would take his class every time.
One of the WORST teachers I have ever taken. EVER. He does not teach well, and makes concepts more confusing than the book does. Do not take this course if you aren't willing to work on the material for hours on end. Granted, the effort you put in does matter, but for the amount of time put into this course, it's definitely not worth it at all.
This class was a hard to keep up with (especially when you're taking 2-3 other classes) but if you keep up, you should pass. The final is based upon the worksheet homeworks in the modules!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the best economics professors I've ever had. He explains the mathematical reasoning behind the concepts, and balances it out by providing real world examples and makes it visualized, to accomodate for those who understand it better without the math. He's accessible during office hours, gives room for error on the tests, and is down to earth.
Brain is one of the most interesting professors i ever had. his lectures are interesting for whom is interested interested in the subject. The only thing is that he is a tough grader. the homework are harder than expected and require real thinking. the quizzes are usually very similar to the homework. Hard to A the class but worth Evans worth it.
Awesome professor. Very clear and organized. Make sure you go to class and do the homework and you will pass. He has a grading curve that lets you bump up a whole letter grade if you work for it.
Brian is my favorite professor at Foothill! He's very caring for all of his students, and is willing to help anyone that needs it. I hated econ in high school, but he really made me appreciate and like it! Tip: Try not to skip any lectures! All of his tests are based off of what he said in class which is different from the book!
Brian was a great teacher, but he is very chatty and goes off topic all the time. Most of his lessons are on the modules which he uses for his online class (he gives this to you though). The modules should be enough to get you to pass, but if you want to do well, you should attend class and pay close attention to his lectures.
A charming, kind person. Like his lectures. Due to heavy class load for the quarter, I did not have the time to go through the study guide and ended up screwing up one of the 2 exams.
Professor Evans is great at what he does. In addition to the textbook, he provides his own lectures, building upon the information presented. Be active in his class (meaning participate and log in regularly), study hard, and you should do fine. He gives great feedback and showed me what I missed after the next quarter started. He is truly amazing.
By far one of my favorite professors out there! I took Micro 1B. 6 homework assignments, an easy article analysis and 5 quizzes total. YOU WORK HARD FOR YOUR GRADE. his lectures are vital so be engaged and ask questions when youre confused. hes happy to explain in a different way to help you grasp concepts. use the econ lab for help.110% recommend!
I had Prof. Evans for online Principles of Mircoecon. He has written about 10 "module PDFs" that serve to summarize each chapter that we cover with simple writing. There is plenty of extra credit in the form of participation in discussions that will be given at his discretion if you really need it at the end of the course. Worst quiz is dropped.
Brian is phenomenal! You cant leave Foothill without taking his class - he is respected, intelligent, and his lectures rock. I learned a lot and he cares more about you learning than anything else. If you try, youll get an A. More importantly, youll actually GET economics. Amazing teacher!
Best econ prof that Foothill has to offer. For my online Global Econ class with him, he clearly laid out the course. It's a marathon for the final exam (worth 55%). Very little (free online) textbook reading needed, his own modules cover everything needed for course. I wish I could take all econ classes with him. EC is given for active discussion.
Do not take his class online! He does not do a great job at preparing you for the final. His final is challenging. He provides modules but even that wasnt helpful for the final. His quizzes are not related to the material online as well. I regret taking his course online. Do yourself a favor and take someone else.
Evans is a really nice and cool guy. But grading wise, I couldn't figure out his grading criteria. He was extremely vague for many assignments and I felt like his grades depended on his mood that day. Many students went into his class working hard on assignments, but were 100% clueless on what the outcome would be. Also less is more in this class.
The class is discussion-heavy, but the grades depend on the tests, which cover a lot of minutiae. The professor is, however, infectiously enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and good at managing the discussion. He presents a rather dry field in a refreshingly interesting way. The class has no ideological baggage; the debates cover all sides.
Professor Evans is a great professor for a difficult class. ECON 1B is not an easy course, but he taught it wonderfully, making difficult concepts easy to understand, and organizing the course in a clear format. He is a wonderful professor and one of the best I have ever had. If you value a good professor, take his class!
Easy introduction to microeconomics. Online hw had unlimited tries and was basically free points. Evans' handouts are a blast to read, but you need to make use of the free online textbook to do well on quizzes. Quizzes out of 42, but in my quarter curved to 40. Final completely FRQ, but not that hard. Highly recommend! Wish I took more classes!
Brian is a fantastic teacher. He makes Econ fun and relatable, and his passion for the subject is tangible in his lectures. You have to pay attention and participate in discussions or you will miss details that inevitably show up on tests. If you are on the fence about Econ, take it with Brian.
Brian is one of the most engaged, thoughtful, knowledgeable and empathetic professors I've met so far. Not only that, but he's genuinely a good and likable person. I absolutely recommend him to prospective students.
Profesor Evans is an outstanding Profesor with a well rounded understanding of his own field economics and the rest of the world. He was always prepared to teach in a pleasant manner and made sure we all grasped what he stated in class. He does not stick to the textbook only and his lectures compliment his exams. Be prepared to learn!!!!
I wouldn't take his online class if I were you. You have to read both a textbook chapter & a module along with worksheets & online homework problems. The final hits the hardest. It's not about memorizing for the sake of passing. You really have to know what you are learning and you have to apply it to the problems on the final.
Guys. Brian singlehandedly turned me from a STEM kid to an Econ major. His lectures are so incredible and he makes even the most dull economic topics seem fascinating. Hes very accessible for office hours and really cares about his students. He is the best professor I have ever had. Dont miss out on this gem of a professor if you have the chance
Avoid taking this professor especially online. Very bad experience and wish I would have read the other reviews about him online. He may be better in person it seems but leaves MUCH to be desired online. Worst teacher out of all other classes and some concepts weren't that difficult but he makes them more complicated, also inconsistent on formulas.
One of my favorite classes to date. Difficult open book hw&quizzes, BUT you must learn the material for final (in-class or proctored) that is short answers worth 50% of the grade! He gives EC for regular discussion participation worth up to one whole grade (but only about 10% of the class participates!) Prof Evans is awesome & highly recommended!
This teacher is VERY passionate about economics and it shows in his teaching. If you're looking for an easy A, this isn't the class for that. Final is on campus, closed book/notes, and is fill in,no multiple choice. If you are interested in economics, definitely take the class with him. If not, take it with someone who isn't as passionate about it
Didn't teach at all - no lectures. Notes where he spent more time making jokes than teaching concepts. Read the chapter and be tested on questions that he created, which weren't like the chapter questions. Unclear as to what the important concepts are, which is especially frustrating when 50% of grade is an in-person, closed-book final.
Be ready for a lot of listening. Majority of the things on the test are what he says during lectures, so pay attention and take lots of notes.
If you're an Econ major then take it with him if you want to have an understanding of all that. But if you're just fulfilling the Micro requirement DO NOT TAKE HIM. His final is just absurd and you have to take it in person or at a testing center near you even if it's online.
One of the best professors I've had. Very passionate when teaching. The concept is quite hard to grasps however if you work for it (go to his office hours) he can help explain things much clearly. Would recommend!
Feel like the class is made harder than it should be, especially if you are taking it as a non-econ major
If you're a free markets guy, take him because he's a big free markets advocate. If you love econ, take him. But if you want to pass without doing much work, don't take him because his final will destroy you. He's always available to talk to even outside of office hours. Make sure to read the canvas modules.
Professor Evans is clear from day one that you have to do the reading and homework in order to do well. Some of the material is challenging, but he is always available to help students, and he has real enthusiasm for his subject. If you work hard in his class, you will get a fair grade, and you will learn something.
Brian Evans is a great professor. I took microeconomics with him this spring, and he worked hard to ensure that students understand the content and how it applies to the real world. His tests are difficult, but if you study hard enough you will succeed. I definitely recommend taking an economics course with him.
Prof. Brian is the most encouraging and rewarding professor I've ever had. He appreciates honest work, encourages the class, and is always ready to help. I used to hate Economics but ended up getting an A+ because of him! If you are there to learn, I highly recommend you take his class! He will make you think!
Awful. Usually get As and some Bs but an F in his class. Work hard doesnt pay off. You could have 100% in his class but if youre having a bad day and dont do well in the final, youve failed the entire class (45% in final minimum) instead of your grade dropping in align. Dont take. His responses to my messages for help were sarcastic and rude
Unless you're an econ major, stay clear of this professor. His tests are designed for Econ lovers/majors only. His lecture modules (although engaging) don't supplement the tests AT ALL. Concepts aren't difficult but the way he tests is. You can study as much as you can but his cumulative final (worth 50% of ur grade) will drop your grade IMMENSELY!
Prof. Evans is such a caring prof and person; I learned so much from him. He's available outside of office hours for 1-1 zoom sessions and that helped me so much! I also took notes on every single HW/WS/Quiz qs I got wrong, and when it came to the final, it made it super easy to study my weaknesses. Do all the worksheets, and PARTICIPATE a lot!
Professor Evans is a great clever professor. He can explain every single economic logic clearly, but most importantly is you have to know what your question is. In other words, you have to work hard on your part. Read the materials that the professor post on canvas and take good not; Learn as deep as you can in every HW quiz! Good luck!
Evans was one of the best teachers I've had at foothill. So many teachers' written lectures are suck but he made them all interesting and personable. If you go the zoom work hours and participate you're going to do great, he really cares about actual learning in the class, so if you put in even a little bit you can actually take a lot out of it.
He cares a lot about his students and his profession and is a solid choice if you WANT to learn. He WANTS to teach you. His quizzes are hard, many discussions per week and at least 1 homework a week. He does zoom sessions several times a week and does a thorough job covering homework and the relevant topics. All he asks is you TRY.
Prof Evans makes it clear from the start that his class is no joke--to succeed, you MUST PUT IN THE WORK. His final exam is brutal, and the best way to prep for it is to do the readings, work through the modules, and do all the extra practice questions. You learn a lot in his class, as it is participation-heavy, so get prepared to work hard.
First D I got in college. The final was brutal and the class is badly structured.
I didn't hate it. The material was pretty straight forward and the worksheets were a really great way to force students to really perfect their understanding. Oh, and the more and better you participate in discussions, the more extra credit you get. Kudos to Prof Evans for using behavioral economics concepts to incentivize us to work.
Worst class I have ever taken and even worse is that I paid international out-of-state tuition to take it! Only bad grade I have gotten in college and took this same class with another professor and received an A? He wants his students to suffer and if you're one of the few who pass the final, congrats.
The best professor for anyone who really wants to learn economics. If you are not interested in economics his course will find it very difficult. This professor wants us to understand the principles of economics. And the final exam will be the hardest
Mr. Evans is definitely a hard teacher, but he has taught me like no other teacher has, and even though his methods may not seem to work, they do, just follow his guide and you will get an A, also do not expect to just listen to him, in addition watch videos such as Jacob Clifford and mjmfoodie which he leaves for you in the modules, he is great
I learned so much from this class and I loved how Prof Evans connected what we were learning to relevant events. The quizzes/final exam also included questions that were specifically from the modules, not just the economic concepts. Go through all the readings, participate in all the discussions/worksheets, do all the homework, and you'll be fine.
Take this professor!!! The lectures and online modules were always very interesting and he is a very funny dude. While there isn't a lot of homework, the homework there is usually takes quite a bit of time so be prepared for that. Overall, he really wants you to learn and connect with the material and wants his students to succeed.
Definitely recommend taking him. Had him for in-person class and it was by far my favorite class. The workload is understandable and you have to earn your grade, as long as you do the readings and lectures you will be fine. He is very chill back and helps explain concepts with great detail. The test and quizzes reflect the homework so no surprises!
Remember, this isn't like high school Econ class. It has math. His "HW" are like "quizzes with 2 attempts" rather than an actual homework. Even through lectures, I still got nothing; other classmates also had trouble understanding some/most concepts. For the 1st time in my life I got a D, which frightened me.
I had Professor Evans in Summer 2021 for Microeconomics. It's clear that he's very passionate about this course and economics in general, as well as very knowledgeable. By far one of the greatest professors I've had. Don't be scared by the other reviews; if you put in effort, do the worksheets (understand them), you will do great. I loved this clas
Honestly this is one of the best profs I’ve had. I know that many people feel differently but he really makes a difference. I had to study a lot and I learned a whole lot as well. His final was perfectly fine as long as you put in the time to study. I walked away feeling like a better version of myself and it’s all thanks to Professor Evans.
Professor Evans is likely so far the best professor I've had at community college. He is understanding of others' situations and cares. Now, he will be difficult and expects you to work really hard, but by the end of the course, you will feel great about your Economics skills. If you want to learn Economics and are willing to work for it, take him!
Economics is not my strong suit. Professor Evans sets aside a lot of time outside of class to help, and he provides a lot of additional resources. It helps to go to outside resources first for the "simple explanations", then come back for the technical stuff. Pay attention to podcasts, etc. You'll be quizzed on them!
Professor Evans is so kind and caring, which is something that really made me feel at home when entering his class. However, he does expect you to put in the work if you want to pass. He's always available to help you out, but you need to make sure you're on top of the material or else the tests can be quite difficult.
very tough professor and even though the course is online final exam is on campus.
I might have to take this class again, but not with him. Concepts are really difficult to understand. I am not trying to be rude; he seems really nice but the materials he provides are really tough & one more thing even if its online, final exam should be taken in school or testing centers nearby. if you are just looking for credit look elsewhere.
Professor Evans wants you to learn. The class is not difficult, but you need to take time to learn, and will come out knowing a lot about Economics. He is very helpful, with great office hours. I would not suggest taking his class if you just want a quick A and move on. It all culminates in an exam that is easy if you studied.
Brian Evans was amazing. I took his online Microecon course. There was plenty of reading, you really have to get a good understanding of the graphs. He's a fair grader and if you stayed on top of course work, the midterms/final were no sweat. Loved his video lectures where he got into real world applications and made things easy to understand.
Brian Evans is the epitome of what it means to be a teacher. He is truly there for you to learn, and is always an email away. I took his microeconomics class online during the summer, it was an enjoyable experience that was engaging due to the structure of the content as well as intermixing of outside resources like podcasts and articles. 10/10
By far the most challenging class I had to take at Foothill. It's easy if you're still in HS or recently graduated as the material is very similar. But, if you've been out of HS for a while, the material can be challenging. There's a lot of reading, a lot of work. But he cares and wants his students to succeed. Ask for help. He is there to help.
One of the toughest professors I have taken. He seems like an okay person but his teaching i found a bit hard. Dropped his class and took Malkait Sandhu, he turned out to be fine. If you are serious and want to challenge 150% go for it but if you are taking as a credit requirement, just be aware.
Best professor I've ever had. He's super lax on grading and focuses a lot on making sure we understand the concepts. His lectures are great and he breaks down complex concepts to ensure everyone understands. Lots of fun discussions in class and you can tell he cares a lot about his student. Really fun professor and you'll learn a lot.
Class is pretty easy, just go over your notes and watch a couple summaries online and you will ace the tests. Brian is makes econ interesting and I genuinely enjoyed his class.
Although Professor Evans' class is quite difficult, he is great at his job. The class featured much memorization, and although it's mostly the same graph in different contexts, the details matter a lot. I wish that his class depended less on exams and more on projects/essays, so that students could demonstrate true understanding, not memory.
I was a remote student for this class; I enjoyed this class, and I learned a lot. Passing the class isn't hard if you do all the work required of you and read and listen to the materials the professor provides. The final exam for his online class is in person, but you are able to find a proctor to give you the test if you live farther away.
I took this course remotely and my experience was GREAT. If you do the work, you will pass this class. The concepts taught in the course are pretty difficult to grasp, however, if you trust the process and complete all the modules, homework's, etc, you will have an understanding of everything by the final. Proctor scheduling was made easy as well.
He does an excellent job in teaching. He explains things very clearly and also gives a lot of group discussion. However, he can have difficult quizzes.
This professor is fine. They will teach you orthodox economic theories. Orthodox economic theory is very dogmatic. It's not a fault of the professor. But it's something to look out for. Lots of trick questions. Watch out for those.
Brian has a deep sense or humor he is a huge fan of Bernanke and he is not a fan of Powell. He is more of a cyclical economist type of guy as opposed to a government led policy economist type of guy. Lots of trick questions in quizzes and expect you to stick to your position and expound on it, never go vague. Another professor gatekeeper Ill pass.
AMAZING and SUPER KIND professor!!! Prof Evans is very knowledgeable, and I was able to learn A LOT of microeconomic theories! His modules are very informative and include great resources! Be sure to participate in discussion posts! In addition, Professor Evans is always available on a weekly basis on Zoom where you can get your questions answered!
One of the best professors at Foothill. His courses are very clear, and he tells you what you need to do to get an A at the beginning. Do the readings and homework, understand them, and you'll probably get an A. He inspired me to become an econ major.
Professor Evans is a teacher who truly cares about the success of all of his students and provides a lot of resources. He adds his own humor into his lectures to make learning fun and entertaining. He explains the core concepts and make it easy to understand. As long as you dedicate time and effort into this class you can pass. STRONGLY RECOMMEND!
Professor Evans was overall average. He incorporated his sense of humor which was engaging but the actual teaching was just alright (very few lecture videos). Lot of real-world examples that were tested on HW quizzes and midterms, felt these were unnecessary. Fast-paced (took during summer session) but not difficult. Easy grader.
Idk where to start Prof Evans is one of the best Economics Professors in foothill, I highly recommend him but take an in person if you don't like the online version trust me, and plus join clubs that his in its interesting and resourceful.
Best professor at Foothill hands down. I'm gonna leave this anon but outside of his amazing Econ classes, I went with him to Guatemala for ECON 22 which was the most inspirational trip of my life. Learning how these people have to live every day through the eyes of an economist is incredible and I love everyone I met there. The undisputed Econ GOAT
Very hard teacher. 7 Quizzes and midterms was very tough as a Econ course for me at least. Its not a first college class and he does not allow notes or retakes on his tests/quizzes. But he is really supportive and caring with his students. I still recommend his class he is one of the best Econ professors in Foothill just beware he's a tough grader
He is the best professor in the world. You can learn so much about the economy in his class. He really teaches instead of slacking through it like other professors. Mr. EVANS has a great sense of humor as well, it's literally an enjoyment to watch him lecture
Loved taking this class!!! Professor Evans's classes were mostly based on his lectures, so be prepared to take a lot of notes. Nevertheless, the classes felt genuinely interesting and engaging. Prof. Evans is super funny and very chill.. He's extremely caring and is always happy to help you succeed! Overall, do not hesitate to take the class!
He is the best Econ professor in Foothill despite his class being tough expect weekly quizzes based on lectures and two midterms and a final (closed notes no retakes) but all of them is what he covered in class make sure to take notes in the textbook too to do better in his class its important also he is accommodating so he loves to help
Macro was a bit harder than Micro due to the lack of modules. The content was a bit heavy. BUT he is an amazing professor!!! Take the class and you won't regret it. Lots of extra credit (has his own grading system). If you pay attention during his lectures, you'll do well. Don't be scared to ask questions. My fav professor in the whole college!
The best professor, kinda hard. But you should take him if you are going to take microeconomics.
Professor Evans is a tough but engaging teacher. His classes are challenging, with weekly quizzes and tough exams. But he's very supportive and helpful if you're willing to put in the work. I found unstuckstudy AI and the free textbook really useful for preparing.
Man it sucks because I took his class twice and he still didn't pass me. The first time I was being logical but the second time I did it his way and he still didnt pass me. I think he just grades to hard and the way he describes things are very weird and contradicting. Id say take Dupree she was great!
The final absolutely 100X harder this year than any other years. The practice test pales in comparison.
Professor Evans is an amazing teacher, even in an online class. The videos and modules were great and helpful. That said, the final exam was definitely no joke! It was super detailed. It made you really apply the concepts in ways that were more challenging than the homework or practice final. But if you study and work hard, you will do just fine.
Very easy. Just go to class and know your topics. The people saying that they failed are doing something wrong. This was the breakdown for my class A's: 17 students B's: 4 students C's: 12 students D's: 4 students
Brian really loves what he does and it shows — was not too difficult as long as you put in the effort every week. People say he grades tough but he just wants to see effort. Participate and show up, talk to people around you, stay for office hours, talk to him! + He's hilarious and just wants to see students be proactive and want to learn and grow!
He is genuinely a really nice guy who cares about his students. If he can tell that you are a good student and trying to learn, he will help you succeed when you are struggling.
Brian Evans is a great professor and his class isnt free per say but its worth the little extra effort because you actually learn things instead of just doing busy work. Weekly quiz, 2midterms, and final. He wants to see that you care—participate in class, go to econ hour (office hours) and just do your hw there, he's great cares about his students
Final worth %40 of grade, only posts text walls and a five minute video for each module, also links videos for help that have nothing to do with the assignments he gives you. He also assigns you work like this is your only class and ignores my emails when I ask questions and actually want helpful advice. Please don't take this guy.
Great professor! Classes are very lecture focused but he keeps it as light and entertaining as possible. Definitely take notes; all the necessary information is in the lectures. Optional textbook available but no work assigned from it. Curves grades to the students benefit. Extra credit is available. Final/midterm are much harder than the quizzes.
Professor Evan's, perfectionist in regards to grading criteria, mainly allowing for the final to make up the whole 40% portion of your grade, rendering all other graded participation module assignments null. He sends an email saying you didn't pass his class after the quarter is over, which says a whole lot about his overall character.
very sweet & amazing prof who cares about his students. lecture heavy w/ not much of an organization system on canvas for these lectures. ur notes will be messy. final weighted very heavily but truly, just prepare and do the homework! weekly quizzes you should study for. to be successful in this class you have to genuinely understand the concepts.
Brian is a great Prof, he loves teaching & it shows—wasn't too hard as long as you put in the effort every week. People say he grades tough but he just wants to see you participate and show up —> talk to people around you & go to econ office hours & get to know him. He's super nice, just wants to see initiative & that you're putting in your best :)
Took this class a few years ago and I have to say that Brian was probably one of my favorite professors I had during college. He was great at explaining concepts and when I think about the relationship between bonds and inflation I still think about the lectures he gave. Highly recommend this professor.
