Great teacher. He covers everything that you need to know in class. You dont even need to read the book to pass the class...B+ w/out opening book. He has fun projects that gets the class involved.
By far the best poli-sci teacher at TMCC, and one of the best teachers on campus.
Brian Fletcher is one of the best instructors I've ever had. He takes what I consider a boring topic, and makes it very interesting and lively. His class is always fun and informative, just how school should be. He's also allows a lot of extra-credit, which is always nice.
Great teacher. The most enjoyable, thought provoking and mind expanding classes I have ever taken. I highly recomend him.
On-line class. Fairly easy. Largely book-based. No need to read for essays, but to do good on quizzes read. He was very helpful when it came to system errors. The essays were B.S.able, but the quizzes are not as much. overall, nice guy good class, if you read.
Took online summer class. Good teacher, very responsive to questions. A very boring subject made fairly interesting. Lots of reading & some difficult writing assignments if you're not into politics (I am not). I learned a lot & would use this prof again in the future.
Online Class. He was very helpful. When quiz questions weren't clear he was willing to reevaluate them. Always willing to answer questions and emailed back normally within a few hours but no more than 24 hours. I highly recommend his online class. Be ready to read the book.
My favorite teacher yet. I am not big on poli-sci, but he really makes it interesting, and gets the class involved. The quizzes are really easy if you pay attention in class. He writes the quizzes based on the study guide, so follow it and your golden. Would highly reccomend taking his class.
Online class. He is by far the best online professor I have had. The instructions were layed out in the syllabus, and he was more than fair if there was any confusion on a quiz question. I wish he taught other subjects.
Brian is awesome. He's completely objective and if you use the study guide he gives you, you will surely ace the exams. One thing he did wrong, however was he told me I could redo a term paper and I got help from a tutor to produce an outstanding paper and he gave me a low grade AND he lost the paper. he said it was because it was late.
He is very knowledgeable in his field and he makes the class very interesting.
I took Poly-Sci in the spring of 2009. I was so worried about this class because I have zero interest in politics; however, he made the class so interesting that I was looking forward to go to class every week. He is extremely helpful, and he wants his students to succeed. I recommend this class to everyone. I wish he would teach every subject.
Brian Fletcher is awesome! I say mandatory because he often includes current events on the tests and teaches them during class. He gives out study guides for the tests and takes every question from them. Polisci could be very boring but he makes it interesting and he is hilarious. I would take other courses from him if he taught every subject!
Mostly a lecture class, for the most part an easy going class. But his notes are on powerpoint and doesn't post them online if your absent. Few major projects, but fairly easy. 3 main tests. Brian is nice but stutters a lot. Do not sign up for his early morning class, it does get boring when he lectures. Preferably afternoon.
Misleading questions in his quizzes are confounding. Do NOT take him online. You need his study guides and input.
Don't take him if you are new to politics, you will not learn more. His class is for advanced students.Quizes are super hard and confusing.Grading unfair, seems like he is not even reading your answer.
Textbook is good 4 papers. The requirements include a mid-term (2 essays and identification section), a 4 pg. paper, a simulation, a simulation writing assignmnet, and a final(about 12 pgs). Dr. Fletcher tries to make the class interesting. I also cannot emphasize enough how much he cares about being a good teacher. Nice guy! Feedback is great!
I loved this class! I took it online and it consisted of 1 short research paper, quizzes and a final exam with 1 essay question and multiple choice questions. Everything was open book, so that helped to answer the quiz questions as some of them were worded in a confusing way. Professor Fletcher was very helpful. I recommend this class to anyone!
Dude, everyone who's ripping on him is completely wrong and probably a poor student. He is so helpful and basic we it comes to teaching. If you know nothing of government, you'll learn a lot. you don't need prior knowledge. he's great and really funny. easy tests if you study. Papers are easy. lots of EC. its such a great class. he rules.
What a great class! This was my first semester back to college and I am glad that I was lucky enough to have Professor Fletcher as an instructor. You need to attend class and study for the tests. I got an A!
Honestly, not caring about political science he did make it some what interesting. We had to read a few chapters every week. We did work in groups but he made it fun. If you take the notes off the power point, and read your good for the tests and final! He divides the class into 3 sections, last part is the final!!
This was a great class! Brian is approachable and patient. He keeps his own political views to himself and remains objective. His study guides are clear and detailed; look up what you don't have notes for or ask him. On the writing assignment he helped me revise until I had an A paper! Dr. Fletcher is awesome!
By far the easiest class I have taken. Brian is fun and easy. Only one paper was required and the tests were incredibly easy.
The workload outside of class is generally fairly light compared to many courses, but keeping up and understanding is critical, as is attendance. He makes the course very interesting, and clearly cares about his students. Isn't an easy grader, but is fair and gives good feedback. He gives very interesting assignments as well.
For those who are not interested in political science and only need the credit I really recommend Brian. He made his class interesting and if you took notes in class you will pass the class no problem.
I took his class online, he is very clear on his assignments and definitely not an easy grader but you will now what he expects from you. This was my least favorite class because the chapters are super long and some of the quiz questions were misleading, and had hidden answers. Ok teacher
Highly recommend this professor. The class is very easy if you do the reading and stick to his study guides. The tests are straight forward with no surprises and he grades appropriately for the essays. I will say that if you don't put forth the effort, you will not pass this class.
Enjoyed Brian's Class
Brian is a good lecturer, tests were my weak point though I studied quite a bit. Take book notes as well. I recommend him.
One of the greatest teachers of all time.
Mr. Fletcher completely enhanced my Political Science experience I would not have made in one semester unless he had been my prof. Super awesome Guy always willing to help and gives instant feedback
Brian is awesome. It doesn't take a lot to pass and it's not that hard to get an A either. Listen to his lectures, take notes, and do the study guide. He makes it really fun and if you need him for anything, he'll be there. Great teacher. Take him.
Brian's class is really easy if government is not your thing. There are only three quizzes and no final. Quizzes are based on his lectures & powerpoints. Show up and take notes.
Brian is great! He's clear, no-nonsense and is always professional. He engages everyone, asking their opinion on why things work the way they do in government and I can honestly say he taught me 10x better than any high school government teacher. He gives help and even let me take a test the day before since I was having surgery that day.
Ever had a great teacher you wish the semester wouldn't end because you only get so many teachers who can make each & every class interesting. Well Brian is an amazing guy, yet funny. power points are online & gives no hw. study for your test to get a good grade (btw there is only three test & a final) as well as a research paper end of semester.
Professor Fletcher is AWESOME!!!!!!
Brian is an excellent professor. He is passionate about what he does and really wants his students to succeed. I was sick one day during one of the four tests we took in class and he met me the following day so I coukd take it during office hours. Take this guy if you want to learn and think about both sides of American politics.
Took Professor Fletcher for the wintermester (it's a three-week course). Gave a quiz for each of the units within the textbook, so I suggest reading somewhat thoroughly. He had 3 short writing assignments which weren't difficult. His exam, however, oh boy.
He's great. He goes through everything thoroughly and has a sense of humor which keeps the class awake. I love that he plays YouTube clips during each class to help us really connect with the lesson. You really need to study if you want to get through this class!
The best professor ever, hands down. He's been teaching for years but he still cares about his students and his subject. Three tests, the "final" is the noncumulative third test. 3-5 page research paper, clear guidelines, expects a college level essay. His lectures are amazing, I didn't miss a day. He's funny, uses multimedia and group interaction.
He is excited about material. Reasonable and approachable. Easy class. Learn a lot of interesting and important things. Attendance only sometimes mandatory. Good pacing. Easy tests and assignments. Is a good lecturer. Is great about answering email questions. Don't need to use textbook much but good to read if you have extra time or missed class.
Brian is awesome and makes his class incredibly interesting. He always is very respectful and eager to answer any questions that a student has.
Fletcher is my favorite professor! His lectures are interesting, upbeat, and he makes everything very easy to understand. He wants you to succeed, so he is great at answering any questions, and makes sure that the course is not homework heavy. He always makes sure that the class knows what they should. Great class!
Loved this guy! Great choice for if you have a personal interest in politics, or if you just wanted to get the credits. You absorb quite a bit and his lectures are funny and made me excited to come to class. He does all types of different media; videos, worksheets, group projects, lectures, and all in the span of 1 class. Caring; wants you to pass!
Great teacher for people that don't have much interest in politic science. He related the content to current issues which made it easier to remember. The lectures are really engaging and he highlights everything that will be on the tests so you can easily prepare.
For an online Professor, he was very caring and understanding. He would email us reminders when assignments were due and do everything in his power to help students out and make sure they succeed. His directions were sometimes confusing, however, that is a communication barrier that comes with online classes. Assignments were very routine.
Quizzes on every chapter of book, easy to do well if you focus on what you read. Gives good feedback and grades fairly easy on the 2 written assignments.
He's an amazing professor who genuinely cares about his students and their success. There are three non-cumulative tests, the third test is technically the final. Little to no homework. Easy class, but you learn a lot. Brian always makes class fun and interesting and is eager to answer questions. Questions on the test are all on the study guide.
Professor Fletcher is a great political science educator that is very passionate about teaching students and ensuring that most pass the class. -Easy quizzes and essays with added EC. -Group gov. project is a breeze and good for breaking out more shy students. -Cheesy jokes that keep students entertained in the mornings which is nice.
Brian Fletcher is the best professor you will ever have. His lectures are very engaging and informative. After taking this course you will have at least a small passion for political science. Brian is also a very organized teacher which is very important to success. He gives good study guides and rubrics! Lastly, he will always be there to help!!!!
I would definitely recommend Brian for this course. He was a very easy teacher and a easy grader. You have three test total and a 3-5 paper. Very fast grader and all the test came with a pretty easy study guide. I didnt read the book as much as he said to but it probably wouldve helped more.
Great teacher. He makes everything super clear, goes over everything and study guides are very accurate for exams. Hes a great teacher and makes everything so simple. Definitely recommend. Not very much homework either.
I really recommend taking Brian's political science class. There is an assignment due every week but he gives you all the material. His powerpoints are like readers digest of the textbook, so if you take online don't get the book. Highly recommend!
I didn't necessarily love the subject material, but Professor Fletcher made the course interesting. His lectures were very engaging, and he made you understand the importance of the material and it's real world application. The course was challenging at times, but he is extremely fair and gives excellent help and feedback.
I personally am not a big political person but professor Fletcher made the class so interesting and worth spending time there. His assignments help understand the lecture more. I would've received an A or B if I studied for the tests. He gives study guides with exactly everything on the test, it just takes a while studying.
I liked the fact that everything to the final test were in the class text book(highly required) and also the teacher was great, graded fairly, he would always give feedback and if you had any questions he would answer in a timely manner I really recommend this instructor to other students. Be ready for tests and quizzes but they are not hard.
Great teacher if you agree with his perspective/opinion. However, if you have a different political viewpoint you will fail the class. He clearly discriminates if you have any conservative viewpoint. Discussion prompts that agreed with the instructor were giving full credit. Responses with a different viewpoint were given a lower grade.
Great professor. Brian is passionate about what he teaches. If I put in the effort, I would've learned a lot. If you want a really easy A, don't take this class. None of the answers are found online and all students have different quiz questions, but there aren't many assignments so it was pretty easy. I suggest actually reading the book, unlike me
There's a chapter quiz on the readings every week. I had no problem with quizzes and got A's on most of them. He requires a few essays but nothing hard. I was online this semester. I wrote a conservative paper and received a 96% on it. He is very mutual when it comes to picking political sides. He replies fast to emails and helps others learn.
I took his PSC 101 class online and it was very easy. Professor Fletcher was really good at communicating even though it was asynchronous. There are 2 papers which are very easy and so is the final.
He makes it super interesting and since it was an online course he also adds powerpoint videos for visual learners. He always gives you feedback on papers and answers questions. Super clear grading criteria and lets you know exactly how to pass the course. Get all the quizzes out of the way early so you can focus on the bigger stuff.
I took Mr. Fletcher over the winter semester. The class was fast-paced with lots of assignments but he graded well and was involved. He responded to emails quickly and made the assignments easy to understand. Even though the length of the class was short, he made sure his students would succeed. I definitely recommend taking him.
I really liked the way he taught this class, there was reading but they also had powerpoints to go over the reading which I found helpful. There was a reading quiz for each chapter of the book, but they were pretty easy. Theres also a couple writing assignments where you can write about your opinions, and Id say he graded them pretty nicely.
One of the best professors I've ever had! Super fair on grading and giving back constructive feedback on papers. Took his class in the summer and although it was quite some work, all the work was organized and easy if you read the book. Also grades everything pretty fast. Overall, just great.
Best professor ever! Makes me want to study political science. If youre considering taking his class you should do it. I learned so much and had lots of fun!
His class taught a lot and was super fun. Despite being 100% online he was super accessible and always gave weekly updates. His grading scheme was very easy to understand. His quizzes and tests are hard but very fair. Read and take good notes and you'll be just fine.
Such a great teacher. You can tell he really enjoys his job and would do anything to get you to pass. He had a lot of energy and the projects were fun.
Material is boring about learning and writing on Senate and House if you know nothing about what goes on in Court you'll be lost, answers are not on quizlet sadly.
If anything, be prepared to read if you want to get a good grade in this class. I took this class as a winter course so it was fairly quick. We had to read about 3-5 chapters each week, with each chapter ranging from about 20-30 pages. However, I learned a lot from this class from the reading. This class should be easy if you read and prepare.
Professor Fletcher would always provide feedback on assignments. There's no required textbook but you do read A LOT of articles. There's a few writing assignments and papers due throughout the semester but they're not too long and he provides a guide on how to write them. Overall, the class was interesting and not too hard!
Took his winter semester class. I was thinking it was going to be tough because its political science but it was not that bad at all. He is well organized and the work is straight forward; no confusion at all.
This is possibly the best class I took during my associate's degree. Dr. Fletcher knows how to engage a class and handle controversial topics in a respectful way. Super clear grading criteria and will help you if you ask. Everything on the tests was given in a study guide at least 2 weeks prior. Take his class!
He is a great professor that cares about students. He is willing to go above and beyond for you if you ask him. The class is very easy. There are few grades so anything you do will affect your grade quite a bit. He gives a study guide for every test that is actually accurate for his tests. Overall he is a great teacher and the class is very easy.
Great Professor. Loves the subject and is incredibly enthusiastic. Will help any student that reaches out to him and gives great feedback. Creates very clear study guides for fairly simple exams.
I had zero issues with his class. The book he used was actually interesting. I found his class to be very easy, and I took it during the winter semester, so there was a lot crammed in a short time, but still had no issues. He isn't biased at all, offers extra credit, open book tests and is easy to follow. I highly recommend taking him.
I really enjoyed this class and Prof. Fletcher made the class very enjoyable. He had several projects that made learning fun and they put his students into the political process. Fletcher also made sure to be accessible outside of course material. Overall, very good professor.
Professor Fletcher is amazing. His instructions are always clear and you will do well if you are able to follow them.
This was my favorite class so far. I learned so much from this class and the textbook is actually interesting to read. His discussion assignments are great and engaging. He gave us a study guide for the final exam. Such a great professor!
He is an amazing teacher. He would always give us a study guide before every exam. He is very caring towards his students. I learned so many things from his class.
Uses an open source textbook so you don't have to pay. Clear study guides and we could use a "cheat sheet" for the final exam. Not much homework, just a debate, mock congress and final paper. Mostly lecture and class discussions. Take notes, read the textbook sections, use the study guides and it's an easy A. Gave extra credit for attendance.
I took Professor Fletcher's class this year and it was a breeze. Not only is he a great teacher, he is easygoing. His class is note based but time to time there is group activities. The way he structured projects like the class debate and mock congress were simple. Not to mention, the exams are easy and follow a study guide. Thanks!
I really like this professor a lot and I would take it again. This course had quite a bit of reading and tests that are in a lock down browser, I recommend taking notes on what you read but he also does put in the sources that you will need during the tests which helped a lot.
Brian is a great professor, his class was enjoyable and I learned a lot. Nothing crazy work-load wise, there are group meetings every month, small debate, a mock congress, and 3 total exams. Brian is kind, and makes sure that we know his grading is unbiased. Textbook is provided for free online! Attendance is optional, few mandatory days.
little to no homework was given all semester, meaning that it is extremely important you study and do well on exams since they make up most of the grade. Besides a five-page paper, there wasn't much else in the gradebook. However he's very nice, always open to questions, and clearly wants his students to succeed. (In-person experience)
As a political science major, this is my second semester with professor Fletcher and it was a breeze. Assignments are always simple with discussion posts and short essays that are straight to the point. The class worked on a simulation that was lots of fun! I will always recommend Brian!
I enjoyed this class, especially the ICONS simulation. The workload was reasonable and Professor Fletcher was easy to communicate with. The only issue I had was expectations seemed to vary from assignment to assignment, making it hard to pinpoint how exactly to get an 100% on each, even if you followed his feedback from the last one.
