By far best class of the semester. Such a funny guy and easily get sidetracked. Gives a quiz about every other class so you have to show up but you get 100% on all of them because you can check your answer with other people. Makes class fun and enjoyable.
Great Professor and person. Goes out of his way to help you understand the material. Quiz about every other class, but not very difficult. Funny, interesting, gets off the subject at hand with stories but all are great. I can't say enough good things about this professor. Only professor I have ever been willing to rate on this wed site. TAKE HIM!
What an amazing professor! It was my favorite class. He was truly a hilarious guy and always had the best stories. I appreciated that he made the class fun. Yes, there are pop quizzes so show up to class! NO, they are not hard! If you take notes, pay attention, and go to class, you'll do great! The study guides are immensely helpful. TAKE GOEGAN!
Great teacher! He is very helpful and he makes the whole class very interesting. He is also hilarious. Definitely take him, he is MUCH better than the other Stats professors!
Great professor. Show up to class and take the pop quizzes. Tests are very similar to study guides. Learn the study guide and you are golden. Definitely would recommend over the larger stats lectures.
Brian is an excellent instructor for being so young. He is willing to go above and beyond for his students and is very good at making sure everyone understands the material. He's passionate about statistics, but lectures are still very fun and interesting. Overall, he's just a great guy and great teacher. My poor grade was entirely my own fault.
Literally best professor at ASU hands down. Wouldn't say easy A in respect to his teaching but I've never had a teacher who wants hisher students to succeed more than Dr. Goegan. A testament to how a college course should be taught and how a professor should interact with hisher students.
He is a great professor but he focuses more on entertaining the students as opposed to actually teaching the class
I loved going to Professor Goegan's class. He really knows what he is talking about and makes it clear to students about what they need to know. Homework assignments can be tricky, but go to the tutoring center and you will be fine. Overall, I would take any class Professor Goegan would teach.
Goegan is the man. He's super funny and he actually knows what he's talking about. His Power Points are well made and he is good at explaining things to make the math simpler. Plus, he'll go to lunch with you, which is his way of trying to get to know his students and it's nice he actually makes that effort.
Great professor, super cute... He is a fantastic professor and easy on both the eyes and tests.
awesome, only down side is pop quizzes during class, but he basically does them for you... they're mostly used to check for attendance
Best Proffesor I have ever had. Extremely funny and great person to talk with for advice or help. TAKE HIM NO MATTER WHAT CLASS HE TEACHES. Practice tests relate very closely to the real test and he has good tutors. Also, has some of the best stories and watches tons of movies and tv shows so you always have something to talk about.
Purely awesome! Gotta love his pop-culture references! But pay attention to slides!!
Attendance is not mandatory, although he gave pop quizzes. Funny guy, Often goes off on tangents. Lots of stuff about Movies, so be prepared for that. Overall easy class and I think he makes it interesting. NO TEXTBOOK!
One of my favorite profs. at ASU so far. He gives pop quizzes but they're online if you can't make it to class you can still take it. Only 3 tests (not cumulative) & gives study guides very similar to each test. His lectures can feel long but he's entertaining. Homework due almost every Friday and is pretty hard. Def. recommend his class though!!
Goegan's hilarious. There are like 12 pop quizzes the semester on an app he made, but if you go to class they're pretty easy. The tests get harder each time. The homework can be tough so ask for help or do it with a group.
Macroeconomics is an easy class if you come to class and do the assignments. There are 10 random quizes throughout the semester, so attendance is somewhat required. They are always at the end of class though so if you really want to you can show up late. If you show up every day and pay attention, the class is an easy A.
Goegan is a knowledgeable macroeconomics professor but he also is incredibly funny and always has awesome powerpoints. There are quizzes after some lectures, and assignments due every week, but they are not difficult. Tests are very easy. Would strongly recommend taking him. You can miss 70 points and get an A+.
Goegan is a great professor! He's hilarious! His class is pretty easy if you just take time to learn the material.
Dr. Goegan made me laugh in every lecture. I am always so impressed by how intelligent and knowledgeable he is. He's homework assignments, quizzes, and exams require a little bit of work but I never studied too much and still ended up with an A. I would definetly take a course with Dr. Goegan again!
Personally, I have nothing against the professor. He's entertaining and a good instructor. However, I felt the format (large lecture room with lots of students) made it a lot harder. You won't really gain much understanding from the lectures alone, and have to spend a lot of time outside class figuring how to solve homework problems.
Dr. Goegan makes macro as interesting as it can be; he's hilarious and helpful. He even created a Facebook page where students can ask for help on assignments. Only had one homework assignment every one or two weeks, and a few tests. As long as you go to class and do your homework, you should be able to get an A!
Pretty much the best teach you will ever have. Don't believe me just take it and find out. I will take any class he teaches that I need to graduate.
I loved Professor Goegan! He was hilarious and all the answers to the homework are on the powerpoint lectures he gives in class. I would definitely recommend him, best professor I have had yet by far.
Brian is the best teacher ever! His lectures are entertaining and he is hilarious. However, attendance was important since there were 12 in class pop quizzes. The exams are not hard as long as you pay attention to his lectures.
Goegan is the best instructor I ever had! He always reply your email before tests, and assignments. He is a funny guy and enjoys his lecture. Assignments are a bit tough but in the beginning of every class he will tell you how to do the assignment. overall, super fun class!
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! Honestly, any class this man offers, I would recommend taking. I am reviewing him before I even take his final and if I get a ZERO on the final, I will get an A in this class He is super nice, really funny, and explains economics as if it were the simplest set of ideas. I love the guy, take him and you wont regret it
He is the best teacher I have had at ASU. He always has some funny things to say. Lectures are great, he refers to movies most of the time in his lectures. Doesn't make the class boring. Great personality. He is very respected by his students. Gives online quizzes, online assignments and three exams. Overall great guy!!
Goegan was by far my most entertaining professor this semester. He spends a great deal of time and effort preparing the PowerPoints and lesson plans and is all-around one of the most dedicated and helpful teachers. As a side note, do NOT buy the book recommended for the class. I quite literally did not open it once.
Must take! Goegan is extremely funny and entertaining. He always reminds you when things are due and puts a lot of effort into his lectures. Make sure to attend every class!
Goegan is a cool professor, but his lectures can tend to be a bit boring. It is important to go to his class and pay attention so you are prepared for the quizzes at the end of class. Overall, this is an easy class if you show up, do the assignments (once a week), and review the study guide before exams.
Goegan is a phenomenal professor! It's not hard to get an A, but you will have to work for an A+. His PowerPoint lectures are pretty awesome and he's funny, helpful, and fair. He's also a movie fanatic. He gives 10 quizzes throughout the semester that are randomly distributed. Three exams, including the final, which wasn't cumulative. Take Goegan!
Awesome teacher for a stats class. Very funny and is encouraged to go to office hours. All assignments are excel but if you go into office hours, he helps you with homework. Test are just like the study guide. Highly recommend if he is available
I couldn't have more respect for this man. The best professor I will ever have, I'm sure of it. He is the type of professor you want to be friends with. Tests are exactly like study guides, and homework is easy as long as you know excel or how to ask Brian. Almost always pop quizzes so you really can't skip class. But you wont want to anyway.
He's literally so funny and easy to understand. his lectures are kinda stupid and the only reason id suggest going is to pass the lecture quizzes that you can only take in class. Tests are a little tough but if you memorize the homework assignments leading up to the test its a breeze. 1010 would recommend
I think he would be considered the best Economics professor at ASU. He is extremely clear in his lectures, enthusiastic about the material, and tries to connect with as many students as he can. He is hilarious in lectures with all his jokes as well. I would definitely recommend him to anyone that needs to take this course, you won't regret it.
Brian is great! His lectures can be interesting or boring depending on your interest in economics. If you feel like he "isn't teaching you," (which is what I heard a lot) then go to his office hours!! He is much more helpful one on one than in a lecture of 300, just like any professor. TIP: Have him check your assignment before submitting.
gives pop quizzes but you can ask around for answers during class or before and you can always ask him after class before you submit answers and hell most likely give you correct answer if you show that you attempted it. go to the tutoring center for help on homework and youll get an A on every assignment.
Homework was ridiculous and exams were brutal, but he curves and gives extra credit. Lectures were engaging, and he uses a lot of movies vs. food examples and pop culture references. Definitely go to class. Get the book he recommends, not the one the bookstore has. The book from the bookstore is useless.
I signed up for this class thinking this was a great professor. Turns out this class is taught by YouTube for his online class. 00 would never recommend, plus he says the book isn't required because the videos will teach it all. Nope, don't do the online course
Boring lectures but very easy class with a generous grading scale. He gave pop quizzes for attendance.
TAKE GOEGAN! He is by far one of my favorite professors at ASU. I remembered most stuff from high school stats, so I didn't have to go into office hours. But, I heard he is incredibly helpful. No surprise. He's a great guy who genuinely cares about his students. Come to class and do the homework, then you don't have to worry about tests!
Professor Goegan is amazing. He was so helpful and answered emails so fast. This course was designed by someone else though and it was extremely difficult. You will want to watch the videos and read the book. The practice questions didn't help with the actual tests. Very confusing. Lots of math, graphs. I would recommend taking in person.
Withdrew from econ the first time with Roberts and thought it was just me not understanding anything. But this man has restored my faith in myself. Not even being dramatic, he is the funniest and best professor I've seen at ASU so far. Very clear, easy A, and he gives extra credit! Boosted my grade an entire letter. Would definitely recommend.
He is really generous on answer questions on the homework, if you just ask and better yet go to his office hours, he practically does the assignment for you. The tests are a little difficult, just make sure you study for them. There are in-class quizzes but they are short and you can ask questions on them and talk to people around you about them.
he's awesome and hilarious
He gives you everything you need to be successful and doesn't make you buy a textbook or clicker.
great prof dood
This dude is the man! So far he has been my favorite professor at ASU. He teaches well and keeps class upbeat and interesting. He's funny too! He doesn't make the class harder than it needs to be but still teaches what you need to know. Take him! No need for the optional text book. I don't usually rate professors, but he was so good I had too!
Best Econ 410 class ever! If you want boring theory classes, then go with someone else. I've learned so much in this class. You're using STATA to run regressions. Must be familiar with excel, and word. If you're not good at either in a 400lvl course, I feel bad for you. Do yourself a favor, and learn practical things before you get out in the real.
Brian is my Favorite professor hands down. Before I took his statistics class my sophomore year I was a management and finance major, after his class i switched to finance and Econ. Hw entertainment and he will never say no to helping you. I also took his Inter. Micro and that was great , got A+. looking forward to working on my thesis with him
Brian is definitely an entertainer who loves to perfect the graphs he puts up on his PowerPoints. He did a great job with clarifying material when needed, but did a good job with teaching in the first place. The exams, quizzes and hw are all a piece of cake if you show up to class. Also take his class if you're a movie person.
This class was a great environment to be in he is a fun professor and its not tough to pass at all.
Took 312 with Goegan & it went better than 410. The book for 410 doesn't really help like 312 book did. A guide to STATA would've helped more. First exam was way too long, & he didn't scale though lots didn't finish. That being said, he's super approachable, but doesn't always answer emails in a timely manner. Go to office hours.
Brian Goegan is the best professor at ASU. His grading scale is awesome. His lectures are entertaining. His test are exactly like the study he gives you, no tricks or curve balls in his class. I have taken two classes from him and got an easy A+ in both classes. If I could take every class from him I would. Brian is the man.
I love Brian Goegan! If you haven't had a class taught by him I definitely recommend i! His lectures are informative and tend to be long, but his witty and hilarious personality make up for the passing time! He does give pop quizzes but they are pretty easy if you show up to class, and the assignments are clear cut and focused on lecture material.
Goegan was great! He is a tough grader but if you go to office hours he will help you.
Great professor that really enjoys the topics he teaches. He is a funny guy that incorporates a lot of humor and side stories into his lectures, which makes them actually enjoyable!
The best class offered at ASU, if you can take Economics of Sport, take it with Goegan. If you can take ANY class with Goegan, take it.
Goegan is the BEST when it comes to statistics
Brian is amazing! He really loves his students, and you can tell because they love him back. Great grading scale (if you do the hw and quizzes you can still get a 74% in the class). But with that said, his test are kind of hard. He prepares you the day before class though. You could tell Stats wasn't his topic of choice, but great guy. TAKE HIM!!
If you choose Dr. Goegan, you choose a stand up comedian as a professor. Very Louis CK in his comedic endeavors. He makes Economics interesting, but I do think his weakness is in highlighting the important concepts. Will go on tangents and avoid important information at times, but tests are straightforward. Great guy... Knows his stuff.
Goegan is absolutely hilarious. He makes Econ one of my favorite classes this semester, and I'm not even a business major. His assignments are not too difficult and he gives you two chances to complete it (score is average of two attempts). Tests aren't bad at all. Just looked at study guide and I got 100. Take him. Do it for your grades!
The professor is a very nice people, before the test you can go to his office hour to ask question, he is very patient and his exam is easy.
The workload is very light and I Iike that. He spends way too much time on things that don't matter. His lectures focus on the qualitative aspects of economics like history, but tests/assignments are 100% quantitative. After spring break, expect him to pull questions out of thin air and provide 0 resources to know what you're supposed to do.
goegan is really cool. he gives quizzes at the end of his classes so make sure you go to them even tho attendance isn't required. his tests are almost word for word on the study guide with the exception of a couple questions from his powerpoints.
I hate economics but Goegan makes the topic bearable. He's hilarious and is always there to answer questions. Homework is fair, and the tests aren't so bad if you pay attention.
Goegan is a very nice guy, but not great prof. His lectures are off topic, and he thinks econ is boring. Always apologizes for the material, and then talks about irrelevant stuff like movies. Totally nonchalant about teaching us, but then gives hard exams... I wish I could say I learned something. At least he's not crazy like the other econ profs.
Goegan is such a nice teacher, everyone loves him. He is so clear and intelligent and funny on top of it. His lectures are long and there's normally a quiz at the end but he will always offer help with the quiz. His weekly assignments are easy and his study guides for tests are exactly what the test is on. I love him, 10/10 take his class.
Professor Goegan made me enjoy econ! He was always very helpful in his office hours and is very entertaining during class
Goegan was my favorite professor this semester! The material can be boring, but he tries to make it fun so it's enjoyable. His tests aren't too hard if you fill out the study guides and study. There is an assignment every week that can be difficult. You have to show up to understand the material, but he does post the lectures onto Blackboard.
best professor at ASU! funny and inspirational at the same time. I would love to take his class again.
Signed up for the pepper, stayed because he is an excellent professor
If you have to take macroeconomics, definitely take Goegan. He tries to make it more interesting & relatable. Though lectures are kinda boring, he's pretty funny & sometimes adds movie clips, which is cool. There are weekly assignments, in-class "pop" quizzes, & 3 tests. If you show up, do the assignments, and study it's not too hard to get an A.
The lectures were concise and interesting. The assignments prepare you for the exams. He really cares about his students and responds quickly to emails. His TA was real helpful too. Random in-class pop quizzes, so go to class. I learned a lot about macroeconomics, and felt inspired. Highly recommend Professor Goegan!
Dr. Goegan is really special; he is really funny and approachable. I would take him again, but I changed my major out of the business school. His class has about one online assignment per week with two attempts (score is the AVERAGE of the attempts). His study guides stay true to the test. He posts his ppt's online, but he gives pop quizzes!
Goegan is super hilarious and makes a really tough subject somewhat bearable. He posts his lectures online so you could skip class but I would recommend you go to all of them. Homework is hard, tests are hard and he does not curve, but if everyone fails the test he will usually give extra credit opportunities. Would highly recommend him
He is hilarious and obviously invested in econ.
Great professor. Class was not difficult at all to almost everyone I know and do not know. You can get a passing grade easily by doing all the H/W and add that with getting even very average grades on the Exams you can go to even an A. Do not fear failing this class because it's based simply by adding grades numerically not %. Easy slides/lectures
Class is hard if you don't show up to class and understand the material. Assignment due once a week online. They are pretty easy, you have multiple attempts. Exams are hard if you don't complete the review assignment. Great teacher. Lectures are heavy and can get dull, but Goegan is really funny and entertaining.
Follow the recommended schedule, use your notes, & ask questions when you're stuck - he responds fairly quickly. If you have a basic understanding of the unit content and good notes(1-3 pages, bullets), you'll do fine. Book is 100% optional, did fine without - so it's a good wallet saver. Don't fall behind, catch up is hard & due dates are final.
I took this class online. Super clear grading criteria, I loved how there's a Facebook page where you can go and post questions that other classmates can help you with. The only negative thing is that tests can be tough, there's usually two answers that could be correct so it's confusing. Overall, easy class and really interesting.
5 sections. 3 units per section. I suggest taking notes for all of the videos. Do the practice questions for every video. Be active on the class facebook group. There are often some tricky questions on evals/quizzes, but overall it is manageable. You can retake evals for the average of your two scores. Tough material, but doable. Email him too.
There are 15 unit evaluations, 5 quizzes, and a final. Everything is open resources. You get 2 attempts on the Unit Evaluations, and he averages the score. The final pulls questions EXACTLY from the quizzes and unit evaluations. Watch all the videos, and don't forget deadlines. With a 1000pts total and 40 extra credit pts, this class is really easy
Best teacher ever! Easy A with learning a lot! Very funny and also very cool!
Makes subject matter easy to understand and makes all tests very straightforward. Super nice guy as well.
Do the homework carefully and ahead of time, study in groups. Lecture powerpoints are more for enjoying the class than necessary information but do not miss class! Pop quizzes and extra credit.
Goegan is an easy going, funny and interesting teacher. It's hard not to like him, he's someone you'd casually want to have a beer with. I can't help but feel like I learned very little of what is applicable to the class. He rushes topics, doesn't get into depth of what we need to learn, and it always made me feel unprepared for his tests.
This man is a LEGEND. ECN 211 is the easiest econ class but Brian the GOATgan makes it even better and easier. He is awesome. His tests are pretty easy and reviews before the test with same questions, different numbers. He super smart and will make ECN sound pretty fun.. which isn't easy to do.
Great class.
Great professor. Clear grading,
Great porfessor His very helpful and his class is very clear and easy to be understand.
Terrible Do Not Take! He changed his whole class. Used to be easy, but now it's a complete mess and impossible. The class average on our first test was a 78% and he did not curve it. His lectures are extremely boring and he does not care about his students' grades. I would avoid this teacher! People will tell you he's easy but he's not!!!
He made his course harder this semester because of complaints. The first test classnaverage was a C and he does not curve. You have to schedule for tests in an adaptive learning lab and study guide and lectures are NOTHING like exam. There are also pop quizzes so you cant skip class
Goegan's lectures are great and very entertaining. With this being said, don't think the tests will be as lighthearted. He barely touches on the difficult parts of hw/exams during lectures, so be prepared to study a lot before exams. Very cool guy !
Is an okay class.
Although his class is said to be easy, he is overwhelmed with large lecture halls and is unable to effectively teach students exactly what we need to know for tests/ the economy. He is very knowledgable about the subject and includes details about history however it is a hard class to get an A in.
It is a pretty fair class, but you won't be able to skip class, barely study and get an A plus. But this is college, so you have to work for your grade. The lectures were not as in depth as the homework or exams are, but he offers tools to get help and is accessible for help. Do well on your homework and pop quizzes, those help your grade a lot.
What else do I need to say? If you need to take microeconomics and need an A, look no further. He's also hilarious and is a total movie geek, in a good way.
DON'T TAKE THE CLASS! The exam 1 & 2 and other grades dropped made my average percentage is lower than 85%. The test is hard and the lectures & study guides were not really helpful. He is a fantastic guy, but he spoke lots unnecessary words in class. He always uses films as an example, but I am not loving films and I do not know what is he talking.
Worst Teacher! HE CHANGED IS FORM OF TEACHING START 2017. Brags about putting unnecessary things on the study guide ( which is grade) just for fun.
HORRIBLE! Arrogant! Waste time in class talking about pointless things... DONT TAKE HIM
I heard he was going to be a great teacher. I am really disappointed. He does not teach. He'll come late to class and say, " I can do what I want because I'm the teacher." Arrogant.
Thought this was going to be an easy class, but it is not. Study guides are not like the tests at all. Got a D on the first exam and a C on the second, and I'm usually an all A student. Assignments due almost every week are the average of the two attempts so make sure you do good on both. USE THE FACEBOOK PAGE. Very helpful for assignments.
Goegan is hilarious and super easy. Everyone giving him bad grades is either zoning out during lectures and not coming to class or got caught cheating on the last test which is why we can't use graphing calculators anymore (thanks guys!). He makes super complex things super clear and if you try and study it's an easy A.
Goegan is a great professor. He really knows his subject and likes to give historical background and fun facts to make lectures more interesting. He uses lots of examples and visuals to make complex economics simple and understandable. While lectures aren't mandatory, explanations are useful and make more sense in class. Super fun and easy!
Goegan is hilarious! He takes macroeconomics and makes it interesting by throwing in bits of movie references and other comedy throughout his lectures. Every class is well-rehearsed, and he definitely knows a lot about his subject. Quizzes come at random and are at the end of the class. No clicker needed, can use laptop or phone.
Most of Goegan's lectures are entertaining because he is funny but they often get off topic. I would recommend going to class because there are 10 point quizzes that add up after a while. The assignments aren't bad if you take notes and do them with other people. The tests are really hard if you don't study and practice the math on your own.
Tests are very hard. Study guides dont always help. There are pop quizzes in class almost every lecture. I have done good on all assignments and missed probably 3 pop quizzes but the tests i didnt do good on and now have an F in the class. Study hard for the tests
Tests are difficult, study guides are not useful. lost too many points of pop quizzes and assignments.
It's a college class, not necessarily super interesting but Goegan does his best. He is very knowledgeable on the topic and tries to make lectures interesting. If you don't want to go to class you really don't need to in order to pass just make sure you go when there are quizzes. Hard to get an A because tests can be difficult but not a hard class.
Really funny guy. Went into the class expecting it to be easy but I ended up actually having to put work in and study. Popquizzes in class are easy and let's people work together, those add up, same with the weekly online assignments. Beginning of semester rating: 2, end of semester rating 4.5. Put in decent effort, and you get a good grade.
So hard. Unless you're the most efficient student when it comes to studying, you won't get an A because the tests are extremely difficult and the study guides are NOT like the exams. If you have to take him, goodluck.
Goegan is a funny dude! The first test is hard, but subsequent ones are easier, and as long as you go to class and utilize the online powerpoints you can easily get an A! He keeps the class fairly entertaining, which is nice, but be aware of missing too many small points here & there on quizzes/homeworks, as they do add up in the end!
Definitely not an "easy A" class, I definitely would recommend Goeagan over other ECN professor though. The tests are very difficult so make sure to go to class and write down what he is saying, not what is on the board.
The tests were so hard and there was little help in the study guides. If you understand he stufybguide the test will be the opposite. Lectures were long and hard to focus on, pop quizzes every class. Spring 2017 not a good class.
Goegan is a great teacher and funny! This class is an easy A except I hardly went so I expected my C in this class. He has random quizzes so attendance is mandatory , quizzes are easy! Easy 100% on assignments with the help of Facebook group. This is one easy class if you put your time into it.
Goegan is overall a great professor. He gives hints to what you need to know on exams, and gives great study guides. You have to know the concepts, not just memorize key words, but he explains everything well if you attend class.
Goegan is honestly one of the best professors I have had at ASU. He really cares about his students, is extremely funny in class, and makes sure that he does his best to help you succeed and understand the material.
Goegan is a great professor! His assignments are not difficult and you can try twice on each of them. Exams are not difficult, too. What you need to do is do every assignment yourself, and work hard on the exam study guide. The exam study guide is very helpful. I did not go to every class but still got A+.
Me. Goegan is a solid choice as your professor for macroeconomics. I put in an average amount of time and did well. Show up to class and enjoy the lectures he is funny, and makes the topics interesting.
All these people saying this macro class is hard don't go to class. Yea, the study guides are sometimes different than the tests but also the test material (and exact questions) are explicitly stated in lectures. Not hard to get the A, just do the homework and go to class. There are pop quizzes, but it's better than a clicker. Goegan's hilarious.
He provides a crystal clear teaching experience while connecting with the students. Some of the fondest memories and most hilarious stories have been made from taking this class. Plus, he's really smart about Economics! Definitely earned that chili pepper too ;)
Goegan's Econ class isn't super easy, but he's the nicest and funniest professor I've had so far at ASU and he really tries to make Economics understandable. He relates Economic concepts to movies and sometimes shows clips in class. Overall a very fun class. If you study the study guides then there's no reason you can't get an A on the tests.
He is a good guy, funny and all of that, but tests are really hard, study guides are not very helpful. Prepare yourself to study for this class, attendance is not mandatory but there are Pop quizzes which are really stupid and mostly unrelatable to everything by the way
Goegan is awesome! Class isn't required, but is highly recommended because he gives 10 point pop quizzes at the end of lecture, which you can collaborate with other students on. Exams are tough, but if you review the power point slides and study guide you should be fine. Not an easy A but you are given all the resources you need.
Hands down one of the best and funniest professors I've had. I took him for ECN 211 and received an A. He makes you work for it though. The study guides are extremely helpful and basically the test just different wording or numbers. If you go to class like a responsible adult, you'll pass no problem. The pop quizzes are super easy but add up!
Goegan is amazing! By far the easiest ECN211 professor, don't listen to the dumbass kids. Great personality and it made class a bit better.
If you like teachers that laugh when people are doing bad in their class take it! Instead of actually considering what people are writing here, he laughed at him. He is arrogant and boring. Yeah he has jokes, but if he actually put enough though and dedication into teaching like he does into jokes most people would actually learn something.
He was super nice but would constantly go on tangents during class. His PowerPoints were super dense and sometimes difficult to understand. The Facebook group for the class was helpful but often people just posted the answers to the homework.
Class way harder this semester than last semester.
Wonderful wonderful professor. Incredibly funny, and gives you all the tools you need to suceed and more. Class itself is tough, but very doable if you just study and take notes. Attending lectures aren't a huge deal but there are pop quizzes taken online randomly. Good grade scale. Take his course, you will love him!
What a fantastic professor! Hilarious and deadpan guy, makes things relevant to college students. He's very accessible by email and you can always stop by his office hours. 211 isn't an easy class, and the exams (there are 4; 3 and the final) are killer, but it's like that w/ every macro class. If you wanna make macro bearable, take this guy.
Goegan is extremely helpful after class but he likes to go off on tangents and material is boring. There's pop quizzes every week but as long as you talk to the people around you you can get the answer. Tests are hard, and study guides are all right. Study the powerpoint for every topic on the study guide and you should be getting an A.
While it isn't the easiest class compared to all the other professors for the same class he's your best bet. He teaches the class more conceptually instead of focusing on math. As long as you go to class there's a lot of easy points from the pop quizzes which he practically answers or you can get from people near you. Tells u what will be on tests
Professor Goegan is one of the best professors I've had at ASU! He cares about what he is teaching and actually makes it interesting. I learned so much in Econ 211 and would highly recommend his class.
Although macroeconomics isn't the easiest class out there, Goegan made it more bearable through his hilarious lectures. If you're having trouble, go to his office hours or email him. I found the FB group to be helpful as well.
Goegans lectures are dry but he tries hard to make them interesting. Homework every week that consists of math that is not taught in class. Exams are tough and the only way to pass them is to study a lot. Random quizzes in class so show up. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK, made the mistake of buying it for nothing. He is okay be ready to work for your grade
Goegan's a funny guy, but that doesn't make up for thus confusing course. His lectures are interesting at times, but he'll lose you at the graphs. Tests will occasionally follow the study guides, but unless you came into this course with previous knowledge about accounting, it's gonna be tough to understand.
I do not understand why everyone thinks this class was so hard. I thought Goegan made it really enjoyable and clearly outlined the material. The tests are practically the study guide and with minimal effort, I pulled through with an easy A. Homework and quizzes are easy as long as you go to class and tests are fine with minimal studying. Recommend!
Funny guy & makes lectures funny by constantly cracking jokes & making movie references. Class consists of weekly homework which if you understand basic algebra & can google a couple of answers you should be fine. 3 tests which are basically the study guide. He literally gives you answers to test questions during review if you listen. Good class.
Great personality but I'm not a fan of his teaching style. I took AP Macro in high school. Although the concept was familiar, his lectures are not well-structured and organized which made the class difficult. Make sure you go to class for pop-quizzes and you know how to properly take down notes. Make sure to work on assignments together.
I took ECN 312 for A session during the summer. I agree the class is difficult but this guy makes it ten times worse. He makes a set of lecture notes and teaches the same thing during the class. There are a lot of math concepts in this class but he doesn't explain them at all, and he is the worst grader.
Goegan was an awesome professor, and really cares about paying attention to his students. His lectures are heavy and cover a lot of material, but he does his best to break it down. He honestly made a tough subject much easier than I've heard from other professors. He does 12 random in class pop quizzes, so go to class!
I was not very interested in the subject, but I appreciated that he was funny at times! It is a very lecture-heavy class and I lost interest a lot. You didn't need the book at all. Pop quizzes happen often, but they are in class and he will help you. The exams throughout are tough, so make sure you really study. Overall, not terrible.
I took Professor Goegans summer icourse for ECN 211 (Principles of Macroeconomics) I can say that it has been my favorite class I have taken in college so far and one of the classes I have performed the best in. Goegans teaching style is humorous, engaging, and he has a remarkable ability to deliver a complex idea in a way that makes complete sense
Don't purchase the text, its a waste of money. All questions asked on quizzes are directly from the lectures. Lectures are long, 23 quizzes, 3 tests. You will need to be proficient in Algebra as he doesn't cover any of the math, gives little refreshers, but you're own your own aside from that. Does not respond to discussions, need to email for help
He's a great Professor. Out of all the subjects I took at ASU he has the most interesting lectures. Graphs are difficult, but what is the hardest part is the math. If you don't find outside resources for how to answer math then you'll have a hard time. His tests come from quizzes, so no surprise material. Quick to respond to emails. Recommended!!
First and foremost, Goegan is a nerd for math! He has WAY too much fun creating clever math problems. The course probably didn't need as much calculus as it had. Goegan can be blunt, but is also a genuinely fun teach. He makes fun of the subjects and textbook companies (he has a very low opinion of textbook companies).
Sports Econ with Goegan is the best. Some excel assignments that aren't too bad if you like excel. Graded for attendance. Simulation is simply amazing. 1 book report and you've got yourself an A
I wasn't very fond of Prof Goegan or his jokes, the class was challenging I couldn't bring myself to laugh when I was failing. Long story short Economics isn't easy I would compare it to a quantitative science class... you have to understand, decipher, and then apply the information. If you're struggling ask for help, I didn't & I still managed.
Prof Goegan clearly shows that he is interested in his area of teaching so he creates many interesting lectures and provides useful resources. I took his ECN 211 last year and ECN 212 Hybrid this year and essentially to receive an "A" in the class pay attention to material given for online quizzes and go into his office hours for help.
I took this as an elective. I don't recommend taking a hybrid as a freshman, it was challenging to manage time. Definitely go to lectures, office hours & tutoring for help. Quizzes weekly on online videos, 3 online tests & a 300 point cumulative final. Overall it was worth it Brian is great, his lectures are amazing & he cares about his students :)
I don't usually like Economics, but Professor Goegan made this class really enjoyable. The online videos throughout the week really helped get a grasp on certain topics before the lectures on Fridays, so I really suggest watching those if you're in the hybrid class. Math problems were usually pretty tough, and I wish we got more help on those, tho.
Brian is a great professor. I took his hybrid class and it was really easy. 3 open note online exams, one homework every week. If you have critical thinking skills this class is an easy A. His final is worth 30% of the class but really wasn't that bad if you take your time and study for it. He also makes lectures fun and interesting.
The class for the most part is not very difficult. Show up to class, participate during class through Moblabs, and do a 10 question quiz by Friday night. Tests are quiz questions with different numbers and open note. If you need help with the math questions (which was the only difficult part of the course) ask him and he'll help you out.
Goegan's 410 class is nothing short of a challenge. However, the amount of knowledge you walk away with makes it all worth it. Lectures are surprisingly interesting, considering the fact that the material can be dry. But the gem of this class is the main man himself, Goegan. Extremely smart, personable, and witty. Take. this. class.
Goegan is hilarious, brilliant, and down to earth. He understands students better than any teacher I've had. 410 can have dry material but he made coming to class worth it. You'll learn a lot. I wish he taught more econ 400-level classes!!! Take. Him. For. 410.
This is the hardest class I have ever taken hands down. Make sure to really work for the grade you want to get. He's very clear on his expectations and gives a lot of guidelines on homework. If you work for it, you will pass, if you don't, you will fail.
One of my favorite profs at ASU; Goegan is hilarious. There are weekly labs, 1 midterm and a final, as well as a final project. The labs can be very challenging, but are fun. I recommend finding a partner. No extra credit, no curving; but this makes your grade feel so much more rewarding. Highly recommend, you will learn a lot!
Professor Goegan makes class interesting and fun. No textbook is necessary. He will tell you "the internet is your textbook". The class relies heavily on Microsoft Excel for homework assignments. Exams are tough but the reviews beforehand are very helpful. **Beware mac users: the assignment instructions are for pc users. Google provides workaround
The class was actually very enjoyable, although most the work was done outside of class consisting of one assignment quiz a week, 1 midterm and 1 final. There is a final project, just get ahead start. Great professor and class honestly you wont regret it!
His lectures didnt compliment the homework too well but hes actually very helpful in office hours or email. He did make me pretty interested in the subject material. Goegan is the best professor for Regression.
Dr. Goegan is one of the few Amazing professors I have had so far. You guys have no idea how he is willing to help when help is needed. His Lectures are the best he gives it on his own way but it is the best. Definitely going to stop by his office every semester and thank him so much for helping me and being such an amazing professor.
He provides clear instructions for the weekly homework. The exams are just like the homework, and the tutoring center on campus will happily walk you through everything you need to know. There is a final project due at the end of the semester, but it is really not a big deal. If you are on the fence about this class or econometrics take this class.
The man is a hero. Sacrificed himself for the students. 10/10 best professor I know of.
Professor who actually cares about his students. Spoke out against unethical practices in his department and ended up sacrificing himself in the process. Great professor and better man.
Hero. Thank you for standing up for the students of asu.
Great professor. Well worth taking his class. He follows what he thinks is right even if the university doesn't agree. Highly recommend.
There isnt a teacher at ASU I couldnt recommend more. I was lucky to have him as a professor.
The best professor I've ever had. I would definitely recommend
Amazing Professor. Highly Recommend. Straight forward professor that cares so much about his students well-being.
Hands down The Best Professor at ASU!
Goegan is a hero. I already loved his class and then he stuck his neck out for students by calling out the Provost for some ridiculous policies that were harmful to students. He got fired for it, but I know he will find a great job somewhere else because he is undoubtedly the most genuine, caring professor I have ever had. Rock on Brian.
Goegan is the best professor I ever had at ASU! He is always there for his students, and is always there to help. He is a true hero!
He is so caring towards his students! He really motivates you and wants you to succeed, I am so happy I had him as a teacher!
Professor Goegan was my favorite economics professor, and he has a clear class structure and grading criteria. His homeworks are difficult, but he provides sufficient directions to complete them. I almost always did my homework in the tutoring center, but I know people who didn't need to. He is the most entertaining lecturer I've had.
