He moves through material very fast. Do not take if you are not a math person!!
Hard course, but if you keep up, you will prevail. Habing puts out dry material in the best way possible and keeps the class room atmosphere very light.
He's a good teacher as long as you keep up eith the homework. Don't slack off because it will bite you in the end. As long as you do the omework assignment, you should be okay.
all around good teacher, really knows his stuff, and makes the material easier to understand. tests are pretty easy but a final project is a pain.
Great Teacher, great guy
Great Professor. I am not a math person... but he made it make sense. Congrats on becoming an Associate Prof. Take him.. he makes sense and is very helpful.
Best STAT teacher EVER! I tried to take him for every STAT class and I always understood all the material. If you have a choice, ALWAYS take Habing. He's really cool and will always make time to meet with you for extra help.
Very good professor. Easy to understand
Great Guy
Good guy good class uses iclicker so attendance is important. He reviews test accurately and can expect to see it all on the test
Habing is seriously one of the best teachers I have ever had. He'll do absolutely anything to help you do well, and you can tell he really cares about his students. Definitely take him, you won't regret it.
Habing is really nice and more than willing to help if you ask. He tries to be interesting and make the class more exciting. Material is boring, but not difficult. Tests are multiple choice, homework is really short and online. Habing asks for student input when deciding test dates, etc. Get to know him during office hours, he is very nice.
He is really helpful, and the tests and quizzes are fairly easy. Class is VERY boring but an easy A. The only way you could do badly is if you keep falling asleep. Habing is a nice guy as well.
I HIGHLY recommend that you take Dr. Habing for Stat 110. The guy knows what he is talking about. He is always willing to help. He has a great teaching style, and you can really see that he wants his students to learn the material.
He really wants you to learn. It's an easy class with really no math. Going to class gets you points at the end of the semester. He takes attendence with the iclicker. He is confusing sometimes cause he explains the same thing 4 different ways but he's a good professor who wants everyone to succeed.
Prof. Habing is a real good guy. He keeps attendance on the iclicker, so you need to go to class, because he uses your attendance as a test grade at the end of the year. Other than that there are some easier online hw's and 3 test. Fairly easy class, I would recommend him.
A great professor! He is so nice and helpful. Lectures can be a little boring, but he tries really hard to make jokes and keep things interesting with real-life examples. Go to class to get the clicker-points because they definitely help your grade! Take notes, pay attention and study and the tests will be fine. Definitely easy to get an A/B!
Great professor! He gave homework roughly once a week but was always willing to help when you needed it. He is by far one of the best professors I have had at USC. I would recommend taking his class if possible.
great teacher! also funny and relates stat well to the real world. go to class to get clicker points, homework easy and online, gives you a test review before tests that are almost identical to tests. easy class if you pay attention and do hw. TAKE HABING IF YOU NEED STAT.
I was not looking forward to taking this at all but it wasn't so bad. Habinging is a pretty funny dude and knows how to teach stats to people who don't already know what they are doing. if you have to take the class, take him.
overall the class isn't bad and neither is he. if you aren't a math person though, it's not as easy as it appears. the tests are more difficult than they seem. he is pretty straight forward and tries to give you the math lab times but in the end it's all you.
Solid Professor. He cares about students, is a particularly effective communicator, and knows the material. Do your homework.
Mr. Habing is probably my favorite and the best professor I've had in college. Before taking his class I had no prior experience with statistics, yet walked out with a B+. It is a very fun class and its because of Habing. Go to class for clicker points, pay attention, do hw, study for tests and you should be fine. If you need STAT, take Habing!
He is a good guy but cannot keep his promise. If he says he will post something on the weekend he may do it on Monday.
EASIEST CLASS EVER. This class is easier than middle school math. You have weekly homework, and he checks attendance but only 2 points per class. I've never studied/or paid attention and I made an A on every exam. He also gives study guides identical to exams
Dude is pretty legit. I'm in his class at this very moment. You can get on the internet or sleep during this class because he makes STAT easy because he is a beast teacher. Booyah!
Habing is a really great professor. He types out his notes, and post his slides online. Also, before a test he will give you the previous years test to study, which turns out to be pretty much the same besides some numbers change. His class can get boring, but you can use your computer, text, do other homeowork in his class. He cares for students.
Habing is one of the best professors i have ever had because he actually cares! He helps students willingly with contact through email and gives practice exams and answers for the tests. While attendance is mandatory because of the i-clicker, he drops 3 days a semester so you can miss. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend taking 110 with him! Hes great!
He really wants to help you and gives you a lot of extra credit. Going to class isn't mandatory but if you go you get points
I was absolutely DREADING statistics and this was the easiest math class I've ever taken. He gives you practice exams which are practically identical to the real tests. He is always willing to help and truly wants you to get an A in his class. If you have to take stat, TAKE HABING!
He hates you already.
Attendance is mandatory with the i-clicker. I ended up with a B and I had never taken stat before. Great professor. Never met with him until the day before the exam to ask how I could raise my grade. Wish I would have met with him more. Take Habing if you need a stat class.
Very helpful over email and in office. Wants to help you and wants you to learn material. Allows one sheet front and back for "cheat sheet" on final. Good at explaining stuff. Wants you to ask questions. Homework is graded but he helps there too. All you have to do is ask. Almost makes me want to change majors.
Brian is awesome. Great professor, very helpful, easy and short homeworks, pretty easy tests if you study a little. He tries to keep class interesting by being goofy. Attendance is mandatory but basically he's an all around good professor. Take him!!
Best professor at USC. He is super nice, he explains everything well, he's pretty goofy, very intelligent, and helpful. Tests are fine.
I LOVE BRIAN. He's such a nice man. There are there exams, and if you have a 90 or higher you can exempt the final and get an A in the class. You have homework after every class, but it's just 3 little questions. He's very clear and helpful. Gives you practice exams which are pretty much the exact same test you'll take. I really recommend him!
4 test 80 percent, hw/clicker points(attendance) 20 percent. Not difficult, but not as easy as some ppl may make it. Study the weekend before exam and you will do fine. 25 questions on exams, practice exams just like real exam.
This is a great statistics professor to take. He makes his class simple as long as you show up. The practice exams are almost identical to the actual tests. Highly recommend taking him!
Really easy class. You have to go to class or it effects your grade but you dont even really need to pay attention when you're there. If you have an A you don't have to take the final. Tests are multiple choice and easy if you know the study guide
This website is silly, but for those looking to take graduate level statistics, I highly recommend Dr. Habing. The material is really hard, but he makes it as accessible as possible and really focuses on the practical application. Really helpful over email yet obviously very knowledgeable. Recommended if you haven't had a math class in a while.
Great professor...only problem is that he makes things that are really complex make sense until you walk away and then your back to wondering what everything means.
Very easy class. Dr. Habing is SO helpful and makes things really easy to understand. He gives you handouts to take your notes on. Also, he goes through material multiple times and gives a test review the class before an exam. Recommend!
This is probably one of the most straight forward class with the minimum work necessary. The attendance is based off of iClickers, tests are derived from the practice tests and the homework is 3 questions a night online. If you get an A in the class you exempt the final. He's a bit weird but decently funny
If you're signing up for stat 110 TAKE THIS CLASS. It's a breeze as long as you go to class and do the homework. He gives you a ton of practice exams to prepare you as well and they are similar to the real thing. He's also pretty chill and helpful so it's a win-win.
Take Habing! Attendance counts and you have homework every class but he drops 3 at least after each test. Tests are easy as long as you study 20 min. He is always there to help if you need it. Easy A!!
Do the homework and you'll be fine. He's very willing to help when you need it: Office hours, email, Skype, even phone. Do the homework and ask if you have questions and it's a breeze.
He was a guest professor for our STAT 516 class and I've learned so much from him! Take him!!!
He is damn good. After 4 years of school, he is easily the best instructor I've ever had. The homework and tests are relevant to what he teaches, he's always available to help, and he explains things perfectly. He also pretty much tells you what is going to be on the test. Take him for any class you can.
I took stats a year before this, so my review may be biased. I thought the class was easy and I suck at math. He is pretty clear on how to do things, and if he isn't, it's not hard to teach it to yourself by doing the homework and reading the chapter. I-Clicker points and HW add up, but he drops a few of each. Just pay attention in class.
I love Habing! He always explained everything really well and reviews a lot. He makes sure things are clear. He is definitely very available, helpful, and funny. Go to his class, pay attention, do the homework, study 20 min for each test, and it's an easy A.
Homework each night, though it is very short (3 problems). Gives study guides very similar to tests. You don't have to go to class every day but homework is hard to do if you don't. Always has a review day before each test. Go to that and pay attention and its impossible not to understand material. Very friendly and helpful. Wish I could take again
Great course, I learned a lot of things about statistics. Definitely go to class or else you will struggle on the homework. He also assigns homework almost every class. Tests aren't that hard, just study the practice test that he gives you as well as the homework problems and you should do just fine in the course.
Brian was an amazing professor! I went into the class skeptical about taking it, but I really enjoyed it and him. He wants you to learn the material and he tried really hard to help people pass. Attendance isn't mandatory, but I thought it was super helpful to go and get the notes. HW every day, but he drops the lowest two per test.
Works for you to pass, funny lectures, great teacher
Professor Habing is a great teacher and all around great guy. I would definitely take him again. He makes lectures interesting and he gives out helpful practice exams before each test and goes through them in class.
Brian is a great professor, he is understanding & encourages his students to go to his office hours if they need help. His lectures can be boring at times, but you have to stay aware because of clicker questions. His practice exams are past exams and are basically replicas of the real one. He assigns homework after every class, but it is only 3 Q's
Great guy. Class is easy if you pay attention and the lectures aren't too boring. Attendance is on iclicker and homework every night but he ends up dropping like 5 homeworks and 2 clicks so it works out. Def take his class
If you need to take STAT110 this is definitely the guy to go to!! There are 3 tests, homeworks on BB (3 questions), and clicker points. Before the tests he basically gives you a replica of what it's going to be like so it's an easy A. You can tell he really cares about each student even in a class of 200 and is always willing to help.
He can be a little dry and little intimidating, but he's really sweet. Plus, each tie I emailed him (be it at 1am, 7am, or 9pm) he emailed back quickly and answered all of my questions. Assigns homework almost each class, but it's only 3 questions. 4 exams and a final, each 25 multiple choice questions. Drops your lowest exam.
iClicker attendance/participation points, 3 question homework, gives a very helpful study guide for each exam that is reviewed in class, & he drops the 3 lowest homework scores, iClicker scores, & gives you the opportunity to exempt the final exam & keep the grade you have at that point. Amazing professor who really wants to help students succeed.
Habing is such a great teacher and he helps you to understand the material. I was terrible at statistics in HS & I passed with a 98 in his class. He gives practice test before each exam and they are almost identical to the actual exam. You have to go to class to get clicker points & he gives homework every night but its very easy. Final optional
He was very knowledgable of his information and the class itself was very easy if you attended class. Homework every class, but it is 3 easy questions. Any practice exams given are exactly like his real exams. You can easily miss class a few times and still get clicker points if you keep your iReef app open. Overall, easy.
Absolutely wonderful professor! I'd say professor Habing has to be one of my top, if not #1, favorite professors I have taken at USC. He does such a great job of explaining the material and making sure you're knowledgable about the subject. If you just show up and listen, you will get it. Homework is 3 questions and he gives great study guides!
he gives homework every night but only 3 questions. give a exam study guide that is the same layout as the exam. he also drops lowest exam grade. you have iclicker questions but he basically gives the answer so not hard to get those points.
I learned a lot in this class as Habing explains the material better than any other math/stat class I've taken. Just show up and get the clicker points and you will be on your way to an A. Great life lessons and presentations daily, always a pleasure.
Professor Habing was one of my favorite teachers at the school. He made it super easy for me to understand the material (I had to take the class a second time) and his tests were almost identical to the study guides. He does use iClicker every class and takes attendance, sometimes his lectures are boring but I really liked his class.
Chill guy, he tries to be funny so that it won't be very boring but it is statistics. He's always available to email and outside of class to help you, sometimes wording is tricky but he likes to drop lowest assignments if too many tank the homework. Attendance is also taken with iclickers.
Professor Habing is the best! I had never taken a Stat class before coming into college, and he taught it super well. All of the homework is 4 questions, the practice exams are almost exactly like the real exams, and his personality is the best. If you have the chance to take him, PLEASE do!
Dr. Habing is a nice guy who knows his stuff. He really tries to simplify the material as much as possible and wants everyone to do well. My only complaint is that he grades homework based off of accuracy and doesn't allow multiple attempts. I'm terrible at math and stats and did well. Would recommend.
Hes very nice and really cares about his students and their success. He gives a 4 question homework after every class but ends up dropping a lot of them. He goes over practice exams in class and they are very similar to the real exam and makes it much easier. Attendance is by iclicker so try to go to most classes.
pretty easy class, explains material well. Went to 6 classes altogether and made a B. Exams are a lot alike practice exams.
Love this professor. Such a great teacher and is really understanding. I would take his class again if i could. gives weekly homework but only 4 questions and usually drops a few. I made a 100 on the final exam which bumped me up from a B to an A in the class.
As someone who usually struggles with math courses, this class was a breeze for me. Homework after each lecture is only 4 questions, of which he drops a few! He also gives 2 practice exams before each exam, both of which he posts the solutions online! Take Professor Habing if math isn't your thing, but you want to pass!
Best math teacher I've ever had. I only got a B bc I didn't pay too much attention to the lectures sometimes and only learned from teaching myself from the exam review. But he's very fair, thorough, and patient with questions. He's an amusing guy and if I had come to every class and was an attentive listener I know I would've gotten an A+. TAKE HIM
One of the best math professors I've ever had! Made lecture material enjoyable and interesting, did a great job of showing us code and making us interpret it, and tests were fair. Gives practice exams that are almost exactly like the tests, homework once a week is fair too. Streams/records all his lectures on BB so if you miss it you can watch it.
One of the best professors I've had. His lectures are mostly theory, so you can leave class kinda confused, but the homework is easy and complements the lectures really well to help you understand the material. Really cares about your understanding and has super straightforward exams with almost identical practice tests. Absolutely take his class.
Very good at teaching the concepts and going at a fair pace for the class. Assessments are pretty easy if you do the homework and memorize the main concepts (which are the same for every test).
His lectures are very theory heavy and you can leave class confused about what you're actually supposed to take away from it. However, test criteria and grading is clear (making assessments easy and straightforward), and the homework is good indication of what you should know for exams. Super nice guy but lectures can be confusing.
This class has projects instead of exams, which makes it much easier than his other courses. Lectures can be a bit confusing, but he's happy to clarify as long as you show up to class. He sometimes skips on small things during lecture that he asks questions about on the homework, so definitely stay on top of your assignments. Overall a good class.
amazing teacher, walks you through the processes and helps you understand the material. the grading isn't too tough, but it's not easy. put in the work and you'll do more than decent. 10/10 would take again
My favorite professor on campus. Incredibly knowledgeable about the topics and clearly cares about the understanding of his students. Lectures are easy to follow along with, moves logically through topics and problems. Funny guy, will do everything he can to help you. The grading was WAY behind, but you could tell he felt bad and made up for it.
Makes tough stats concepts fairly easy. Lots of HW but none of them are too particularly difficult and they relate exactly to the current course work. Guided notes every lecture. He took a while to grade the take home exams but otherwise he's great
This class is 100% doable as long as you're proactive about the content. He teaches everything that's on the assignments, but sometimes they're buried in the lectures and you'll have to do a bit of digging, or you'll have some problems with assignments that you might want to reach out to him about. A good class overall, definitely take!
Habing is probably the best Stats professor you'll find at USC. If you ever have a class where he is an option, I strongly recommend taking him.
Dr. Habing cares deeply about the success of his students. He sometimes breezes by some unintuitive concepts in class, but he is supremely helpful in office hours and I can't recommend him enough.
I couldn't recommend professor Habing enough. He was an awesome professor. Three tests + final and one homework per week. If you need to take a stats class TAKE HABING!
amazing professor. favourite stat professor. exams are just like class material. homework is hard but is a small portion of the overall grade. always available for office hours and explains things wonderfully. if you understand the material in class and go in for office hours youll do great(i reccomend looking up Tebbs UofSC Stat 512 notes)
Take him! He chooses interesting research topics for his questions, the homework is sparse and relevant to the content in class, does not have quizzes, and most of all the exams are extremely straightforward. He is funny and his lectures are engaging. Before our second exam, he even let us take a practice exam to ask questions in class!
Professor Habing is great. He cares about teaching the material and wants students to do well. Attendance is not mandatory but I really recommend going if you want to do well and truly understand the content. Your grade is mostly off exams but the study guides are very very similar and in class he prepares you for the content going to be on it.
Dr. Habing is great. The class can be hard but he goes through the material at a good pace so keeping up is not a problem. His weekly homework assignments helped reinforce topics while giving you a chance to implement the R-code yourself. Pretty theory heavy towards the end but its a 500 level class so that's expected. Would take again.
Loved Habing, his exams weren't bad and he gave good resources for you to study. He has an actual personality which many professors dont so i would definitely take him. Homework is fairly easy and hes accessible after class.
