Brian is a hilarious professor dedicated to helping students understand statistics through his life experiences and relating the problems to issues we understand. He will do everything, including move mountains, I swear, to help you succeed and reach your goals. All you must so is put in equal effort. Amazing guy.
Brian was a caring professor. He walks through problems, has you work on some on your own and then goes over them. Passing his "celebration of knowledge" aka tests was easy if you did your work. He was very approachable and enthusiastic about helping with anything. I wish I could have him for all of my math classes.
(Online Textbook Provided) He believes in every student, and genuinely cares about each person learning, understanding, and being successful He is consistently encouraging, open to questions and providing feedback. He is patient in teaching stats concepts My experience was very positive and rewarding because of the dedication of Brian Heaven
Dont miss class. He gave out extra credit at the end of the quarter. Homework is online, infinite attempt.
I took his class last quarter, He is amazingly kind and explains the topic very easily. I like to take his class again, this is the bomb
Easy class. Attendance isn't a grade, but you should show or you'll miss lots of content. Heavy WAMAP hmwk, but you have unlimited tries on it & he gives late passes, which are dope if you forget about it 5 five minutes before class starts. Cool dude. Talks a lot about his time in Africa, which can be annoying or intriguing depending on your mood.
Brian is amazing! Although some function is complicatede to remember, he always tells you the step of calculator methods.. His lecture is so interesting. He has 3 small tests, no midterm. If you get good grade on former 3 tests, you odn't have to take final. He really concerns graghs detail, be careful when doing tests! Project is very important!
Cool professor. He is very funny which makes his lectures way better than a regular math lecture, and you actually are able to understand the material because you are awake! Class requirements for this course is pretty straight forward: you do the assignment and you get the points.
You must attend class simply because stats is a lot of info and easy to fall behind. Brian makes it very easy to understand and answers any questions and loves to make sure you get it. His teaching mechanism is very effective from hw to the daily structure of class. He genuinely cares and is hilarious! Learning was fun in this class. Great soul.
Phenomenal teacher. You have to work a reasonably sized amount to succeed but it only made the A sweeter. Brian teams you up for the quarter with two or three other people and they grew to be my friends, and grade savers! He tells stories to break up lectures and when I left his class I felt I had the skills to excel in any math class in my way.
At first, I was confused and detested WAMAP (internet program used for class). After a while, I began seeing the wisdom Prof. Heaven shows in using WAMAP. Classmates help each other to learn. Immediate feedback. Turning in homework, with work shown, helps reinforce learning. Use the tutoring center, and turn in the hours for extra credit on tests.
This class was much more work than I expected, it took a lot of time studying. Brian was always helpful though and made class fun. You can miss class, but I wouldn't recommend it because you can fall behind quickly. He gives lots of good tips at the start of the quarter to be successful- follow all of the tips and you will be fine!
I took this Fall '16 qtr. Stats is a completely different animal than any other math class and it's HARD for most no matter your professor. So do yourself a favor and take it with Brian. He shows genuine interest in whether or not students learn and fosters a laid back, goofy environment. And he gave calculator short-cuts other classes didn't get.
If you're taking this Statistics class, devote a lot of time to the PowerPoint presentations (know them very well); they're what the tests are made up of. You still have to do all the work in WAMAP (online math program), but you don't have to buy a book; just print all the PowerPoints before class. The professor flies through them fast though.
I'm no math expert so this class was hard, but Prof Heaven WANTS you to succeed! Attend class, print out powerpoints for notes, and attend SI sessions for extra credit. He also lets you use one notecard for each test. Overall, great teacher and great class. Lots of work and a group project, but I would definitely take another class with him again
Tries to tie in funny stories to keep u interested. Cares about your grade and gives extra credit, so pay attention to the stories! Great teacher, I learned so much from him rather than the book. Clear grading criteria and a decent workload. I would recommend him 100%
Suggestions for doing well in Prof. Heaven's Stats class: MEMORIZE POWER-POINT SLIDES! You'll have lots of work to do in WAMAP, and you must do it, but take really good notes on the power-point print-outs (which you must print out before class) during class lectures, and use the tutoring center... It was my second home when I took Stats. Good luck!
He was a great professor but a tough grader.
He started off pretty nice and the class was okay as much as a stats class can be. He calls the tests 'parties' they are no such thing. His goodie mr nice attitude was quite annoying. He nonstop talks about Kenya and his tests use examples from Kenya that are worded super difficult. The class was overall easy but I wouldn't ever want to take him.
I took Brian Heavens Math 146 class. He is a great teacher and wants his students to have the best experience in his class. The material is hard, but he covers it well. The homework load is heavy, but there is so much extra credit that as long as you keep up with the work you can get a 4.0. I would definitely take his class again.
Was super tough grader. I was in class everyday and still struggled. I did manage a A- but this grade did NOT COME EASY and most of his lectures were confusing.
Explained concepts from an engineering perspective, which was confusing. He didn't provide alternate explanations, even when asked. Never made himself available outside of class. Most homework is online and the points are all or nothing. During lectures, he explains the concept and then expects you to be able to apply them without examples.
Great professor! Shares a lot about his experience in kenya which makes class fun. Everyday is a lecture from a powerpoint and there's a lot of homework all on WAMAP, but it's a college class, you cant expect it to be super easy! Don't think I would have wanted to different professor for STATS.
I took Brian Heaven's MATH146 class, and really enjoyed it. He has a very laid back personality, but still teaches the concepts well. Most of the work was online, and there was quite a bit of homework, but if you stay on top of things it shouldn't be a problem. There are also many chances for extra credit which helps. I would highly recommend him.
I took my math 142 class with Mr. Heaven, and I really enjoyed it! The teacher was super funny, very willing to help and laid-back. If I wasn't graduating I would take a class with him again!
Brian was such a great professor! Although the coursework material was very difficult and time consuming, he still found a way to make the course itself enjoyable. Warning, there is lots of homework. Best way to do well is to attend SI sessions and print out all of the lectures. Also, be sure to record all examples from powerpoints.
First of all, make sure you do all the extra credits. It will definitely help to raise your grade. He is funny, and will give you many Africa stories. However, his tests are confusing, and contains only few questions so make sure you study his lecture(PPT slides). Don't focus too much on the HWs because his tests are nothing like those HWs.
There is a lot of homework, but it all pertains to the course and helps with the "parties" (tests). Brian is really awesome and I loved going to class. It was a nice setting and it was easy to jump right in even after being out of math classes for over 3 years. I would definitely recommend this professor and would take his classes again!
Brian was a great professor, he was very personable and engaging in class. However, that being said, the material that he taught in class required you to print off a LOT of power point slides which I ended up paying an extra $20 to my print budget for the quarter for, and the tests did not have anything to do with what he taught in class.
I would highly recommend Professor Heaven to anyone who is considering taking a math class! Originally I was extremely nervous to take Stats as I hadn't taken a math course in over 5 years. This class isn't easy however Brian provided a fun learning environment with many opportunities for success.
Even though he gives a lot of hw assignments, theyre easy and he also provides late passes, which dont hurt you at all. Any leftover passes goes to extra credit. Attendance isnt 100% necessary, but everything will be a lot easier if you go. His tests are easy, final is optional, and overall a really funny guy!
I am taking him for Stats and its already a hard class so you still need to attend all lectures. He gives alot of extra videos and help options for you and a optional lab to get help. He also had the Tutoring center come explain how to get help and he really cares about our education. He's a hilarious teacher with a lot of good stories.
Brian is a great professor, be ready for many stories. But pay attention they might be on parties! (Tests)
Brian is a great math professor. Tries to make statistics understandable by using everyday terms. Listen to his stories closely as they are worth extra credit points every party!!!
Brian is a great professor, he really wants everyone to succeed in his class. There is lecture everyday but Brian adds jokes and stories in to make them fun and not boring to listen too. He offers great explanations and is really helpful during office hours.
Brian is an amazing prof hands down he is a very personable guy and loves to share learning through his personal experience. When I mean personal I mean PERSONAL. He definitely has your head turning but in the best way possible. STATS is never like a super fun class to take but if you wanna enjoy it this is the class for you. What you give, you get
Brian is honestly the best professor I have ever had. You can tell that he genuinely cares about all of his students and is interested in them. He creates fun ways to make sure your engaged in class and gives lots of extra credit options. I highly recommend taking this class, not only do you learn stats, you also learn lots of life lessons.
Great energy, fun class. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities and late passes. Make sure you read the assignments, study and print your power points. Also, you do need to show up so you can hear his amazing stories which are used for extra points on the parties. Yes, parties, NOT tests!
Awesome Prof. He goes above and beyond to explain and simplified the concepts. He offers extra help like, office hours, SI session in addition to tutoring center of course. he is fair and detailed grader So, pay attention to the instruction of the test and always show your works. Takes advantage of extra credit works and master the pp examples.
This classroom was the best environment for learning such a difficult topic such as statistics. Heaven's humor and stories he has to tell help your mind understand the material he is teaching. Math is a difficult for me, but they way you are set up success is the only option in this class. I was actually excited and the workload is so reasonable.
Brian is a great professor, he is hilarious and really cares about his students success. His class is very organized, hes good at responding, and he has SI outside of class if you need extra help. He also offers many extra credit opportunities. Brian makes stats fun and I would definitely enjoy having him as a professor again.
Professor Heaven really cares about his students. He expects students to participate and learn the material. Tests are 70% of your grade, but extra credit helps to ease the pain of learning. If you do the work in this class you will pass.
I think he's a GREAT professor! U have 3 tests, and an optional final. Just make sure you complete the assignments on WAMAAP. He offers many extra credit oppurtunities. He is very kind, funny, caring, and actually loves his job!!! Just be prepared to print a lot of PowerPoints for the class sessions. DEFINITLEY RECOMMEND!!!!!
Brian is hilarious and always makes class very fun. He's very understanding, and open to giving extra help. The only problem I had with this class was the way he lectured. I felt that his explanations were super confusing, and more often than not I had to go home and teach myself the material. Overall, I enjoyed the class.
Prof. Heaven was an amazing Math in Society instructor. I am NOT good in math subjects but the way he explained things and used peer teaching really helped me feel confident in my abilities. You get a note card on each test too (he calls tests "parties") and overall he is a funny and caring professor. Pay attention to his Africa stories for tests.
By showing that you actually want to do good in his class and talking to him, asking questions he will help you out.
Professor Heaven was one of the kindest, funniest and most genuine professors I have ever had. He was always at class, and he never missed a day or cancelled it. He has lots of ways of explaining materials, especially if you don't understand it. The only thing I did not like was the fact that he did not use canvas to turn in assignments.
If you are going to take this class online and have the opportunity to take it by it self or with one other class, you will be better off. There are a lot of assignment and some of them are time consuming. Reviews do not reflect what is on test, study the terminology as well! Other than that Professor Heaven is a good instructor.
He takes days to respond sometimes and is bad at answering questions over email. It really depends on the day you talk to him whether he will be helpful or not. Go to zoom meetings for help don't bother emailing him. Easy grader class is hard though!
Professor Heaven is funny and cares about his students and their success. Do the homework and you will pass. Go to all the zoom sessions even if you don't think you need help that week. Go to the SI sessions, you benefit from other people's questions. Ask about the Africa stories. He is really funny and provides extra credit and late passes.
Brian is a great teacher. He really cares about his students. If you need, he will make himself available to students outside of class time. Brian is also good at helping with confidence. I have really bad test anxiety and he helped me with strategies to overcome it.
Professor Heaven is great. There's ample opportunity for extra credit. Tests are pretty difficult. He offers additional worksheets (with solutions) and power-points to help you study until you "get it." The forums are a huge help. He and the SI really help when you're confused. His methods eased my anxiety about math and statistics.
Amazing!! Nicest professor ever & the class was so easy. More extra credit than one could ever even need. Mostly on your own but if you need help theres so many zoom calls that you can go in. He is super understand and you get 12 late passes a quarter that are extra credit if you dont use. Awesome teacher, awesome class.
Professor Heaven is amazing. Hes giving a lot ways to solve the problems and extra credit opportunities. Pass the class is very easy, but these are some struggles if you want A+. It depends on your patience.
Without a doubt the worst teacher Ive ever had. Brian Heaven was so unfair to me that breaking down at my computer screen was a normal occurrence. Just because I got a good grade in the class does not mean he helped me get there in any way. He was not flexible, he was terrible at responding to anything I sent him, and provided no fixes.
Professor Heaven clearly described the class layout and expectations at the beginning of the quarter, making it easy to navigate the coursework. He provides a lot of resources for any extra help you may need. Some of the assignments could be tricky but the feedback and opportunities for help allowed me to complete the course without much difficulty
All of the learning occurred reading a textbook, and he only held zoom meetings for questions before tests. All other work was done through WAMAP and OpenStax
Professor Heaven is a great teacher, but he is very particular on how you should complete problems.
He says at the start of the course there won't be exams, there are 3 he just calls them parties. You have to show your work and even though I do the homework to at least 90% it seems as though these parties are nothing like the homework, he grades them harshly. They are only open for 1 hour on a specific day and time, the last one was on a holiday.
Terrible teacher for online classes. No personal instruction or zoom classes, you must rely on the textbook and other professor's materials. Poor at answering questions and is an extremely tough grader - the reviews do not match any of the material shown on the big exams. Does not provide explanations for what you do wrong and doesn't try to help.
worst professor ive ever had. very bad at responding to emails and messages. there r only 3 tests but they seem that they r nothing like the homework and he grades so specific that u almost have to be reading his mind to get a good grade. worst professed ever. i wouldnt even want my worst enemy to have to take this. takes ages to grade
This professor was able to make class super fun while also having many easy extra credit opportunities. The class can be hard and confusing at times since statistics isnt a easy topic but the professor always is able to make class fun and with all the extra credit opportunity you can easily make up a lot of missed points.
I loved Prof. Heavan! He made class enjoyable and answered any questions you had. I would definitely recommend taking this class in person as I benefited from his daily lectures. There were many opportunities for easy extra credit and this helped my grade a lot. He also gives 12 late passes for assignments. Remember all the stories he tells :)
This was my first time taking a math class in a foreign language, and it went far better than I imagined. There's few daily routines you need to adopt with this class. parties are simple (3 exams only) if you study hard since he offers you a lot of preparation ahead of time. It's asynchronous class, so be prepared to teach yourself some materials.
Incredible professor. Math is not my strongsuit, so was nervous going in- but he made Stats fun, and not scary! Great humor, LOTS of extra credit (yay!), and he really cares about students. Lectures are great. There's bit of at-home reading, but txtbook is free and online. I recommended him to my friends, and would absolutely take his class again.
He was very helpful when I would contact about projects or a grade. Being in class was super fun and he would include personal stories to tie in a lesson. There were plenty of extra credit options to get points back.
I was intimidated by statistics (not a STEM major), but the content was easy to digest and Professor Heaven was very helpful. Tons of extra credit, a bunch of resources provided by the instructor (practice tests, worksheets), and tutoring support. The lectures were very funny and informative. Highly recommend this class to all students!
Prof. Heaven is an amazing teacher who does all he can to help his students understand and succeed in his class. Math is not my strong suit, and I was very nervous going into this class, but his great power point lessons (and fun stories) put me at ease and I passed his class with a 4.0 and a better understanding of statistics. Best Prof. Ever!
I really enjoyed statistics with Professor Heaven. I found his lectures very easy to grasp, as well as the format of his class very beneficial to my learning process. Theres lots of extra credit opportunities and open communication in this class. Professor Heaven really cares about his students and I highly recommend his statistics class!
I was terrified to take Stats, but Prof. Heaven makes it easy and relatable. No need to buy a textbook, he provides everything youll need except the calculator and pencil. If youre willing to do the work, this class will be no issues.
I took Brian Heavens class for Fall of 2021. If you are able to keep a basic schedule of when to do things each week, and go for understanding the course instead of the grade. You will easily get a A in this class. Tons of opportunity for extra credit. Including 16 points e.c in the test section. He is by far one of the best teachers at Pierce.
Gives great advice for studying and has very interesting lectures.
Professor Heaven is very good at explaining the core concepts of statistics which is all you'll need to understand. He breaks up his PowerPoints with short videos or stories before you can get bored. Also, lots of opportunities for extra credit.
I was nervous to take this class because I didn't know much about statistics. It became one of my favorite classes! This was due to Professor Heaven. He is very talented at making the subject matter more clear. You definitely need to show up for class and be involved in discussions, but he is always available to help with anything. Highly recommend
This professor was very fun and witty. He made it enjoyable to go to class and was always willing to help you out when you needed it. His class did have a lot of homework, but it was doable and he had great resources to use for any sort of help. If you are taking a stats class, I would recommend him!
Professor had unclear guidelines at time and could be repetitive and hard to follow.
I enjoyed having Professor Heaven teach me in math146. He has been one of the best at explaining concepts in all years of my schooling. Additionally, he made himself available to stay after class with students who needed 1 on 1 help with the material which helped me tremendously. For those reasons, I would recommend Professor Heaven to any student.
It amongst my first online classes after a very longtime out of school, so wasn't sure what to expect. Prof Brian was patient in helping me navigate. He gives a lot of assignments which I found helped me understand the concepts better and remain engaged. To excel, you need to put the work. I highly recommend him! and yes, he is funny too!
I found that the homework and quizzes were quite different than the tests he would provide us, and I feel that his feedback on tests were lacking, it was often that I would have no idea how I would fix my mistakes going forward. However, if you take the time and I mean TIME to study and do the homework thoroughly, you will succeed.
I recommend Professor Heaven to my friends taking math courses at Pierce. I took his class for statistics and recently for precalc 1. He uses a website called WAMAP, where we find our assignments and grades. It is straightforward to navigate and helps with understanding the material. Very humorous and inviting to utilize resources. Great professor!
Prof. Brian is a great professor you should take for your math classes! Very helpful and inspirational, prepare yourself to have a daily basis routine for the class and you will be fine. No final, only parties. "Party" is reference to the exam. Quiz every other week. Homework everyday but they are not very hard. Exams are focus on materials learnt.
An amazing teacher who seeks most to help students find the mathematician within them. From great comedy, to concise and effective teaching both in-person and online, most certainly my favorite professor yet.
Amazing professor! Professor Heaven truly cares for his students and their concerns. He made learning fun and made sure everyone had a fair chance for success.
Professor Heaven wants you to succeed in his class & gives you lots of extra credit opportunities. I think the class alone is difficult (it is stats to be honest), but taking advantage of the extra credit, participating, attending tutoring, and asking questions on problems you don't understand clearly will help you succeed. JUST TAKE HIM [=
Professor Brian Heaven is an excellent instructor. I found him to be approachable, sincere, and kind. The material was he taught was conveyed in a way that was easily understandable and incorporated humor. I highly recommend this teacher and would most certainly, if given the chance, have him as a teacher again.
When I first started MATH146 with Professor Heaven I didn't know what to expect. I had not taken a math class in 10 years, and was a bit apprehensive about how I would do. Thankfully I didn't have to worry, because Professor Heaven made the material simple to understand. If you need to take a Math class, look for his name. You won't regret it.
I loved Prof. Heaven! He was an amazing statistics teacher. Funny and caring guy. Lectures were clear and so were his homework assignments. Does get a little tedious, but as long as you listen to the lectures and are willing to put in some effort, you will do great. He was also very accommodating when I was out sick for almost a month. 10/10!
Mr. Heaven was a very kind teacher and I was lucky to have him my first quarter at Pierce. He was a fair grader and pushed me to be better in a subject I had previously thought I would fail in. He provides plenty of extra credit if you'd like to take advantage of it, and is very encouraging of student's goals. Plus his stories make the class fun!
Professor Heaven is an excellent Professor. I took his online statistics course and struggled in the beginning to grasp the material in an online format. I discussed my issue and was able to attend his scheduled tutoring sessions on campus. Heaven came in to several of those sessions and helped teach one on one. Unique teaching style, 5 star !
Professor Heaven made the classroom environment very comfortable and calm and approached students with a respectable, humorous tone that made learning very calm and anxiety reducing! When we had questions about a problem he would make us work for it so we can fully understand the concept, which was good on our end!
A great class - well organized. Professor Heaven does a great job presenting a subject that is difficult, making everyone feel welcome, with extra effort to help students understand HOW to study - including mix media for all types of learners. HIGHLY recommend taking this class alone, or with other very easy classes, the work load is heavy.
Professor Brian was a good professor, very responsive to the students. There were lots of homeworks and reading for his class that you need to do everyday. His examples and review materials were helpful. Never hesitate to send him a message if you feel left behind, he will respond quickly.
Class takes commitment to working hard and humility to attend tutoring every now and then, but I think he made it the easiest it could've been. He provided above and beyond with outside resources to support learning. He is very respectful and understanding, clear criteria and expectations, a LOT of extra credit opportunities, and very funny person!
For online class, multiple assignments a day, sometimes on weekends. Uses WAMAP, but exams different than WAMAP questions. On exams, no automatic feedback from WAMAP, instead you write Questions/Answers on blank paper, scan to make pdf, then submit on canvas. Exams late at night, can't take whenever you're free.
doesn't give any valuable feedback on exams, just marks points off with no reasoning or correcting what you did wrong. loves to give nearly 3+ assignments daily for whatever reason. on top of all the work he makes you do, you will have to do a stats project. terrible. literally take any other stats professor
He has 4-8 assignments due by midnight daily. when you ask for help he is very vague with answers and mostly tells you to go to the math lab for help, the math lab can't help with his work. He has exams which he calls parties , these exams unlock at 8 pm and you have an hour and a half to do them and passing is rare.
I took his Calc 1 online course and I enjoyed it. He really cares whether you understand the concepts and not just if you can do the arithmetic (very helpful in the long run). Expect lots of practice/HW on WAMAP, + threads, quizzes, and extra practice. He gives good extra credit at the start/end. Just gotta stay consistent and you'll be fine.
Uses WAMAP, lots of homework. There are multiple assignments every day but they aren't difficult. The discussion posts and project were irrelevant but easy points. Lots of extra credit, even on tests. Professor isn't great at giving help with problems, mostly tells you to look at the book. Put in time and follow directions, you'll get a good grade.
Professor Heaven's class was hard, but he is an excellent professor willing to help you through it. The exams are very difficult. Luckily, the other work can make up for that. He offered extra credit, and met with me outside his office hours. If you are going to take statistics and actually want to learn something about stats, take his class.
Professor Heaven's class was hard, but he is an excellent professor who is willing to help you through it. The exams are very difficult. The other work can make up for that. He offered extra credit and met with me outside his office hours just to help me. If you are going to take statistics and actually want to learn statistics, take his class.
Don't take this class online. I'm not sure how he is as a teacher in person but please don't take this class online. The course work was unbelievable, I would spend at least 3-4 hours each night doing work for this class. Not only do you have to complete homework everyday but also go over material and essentially just teach yourself EVERYTHING.
Please don't take Professor Heaven's online calc class. You will be teaching yourself straight from the book (there's no other resources provided), and all work is done on wamap. The exams are also horrific. They're on random weekdays and at random times. The grading is harsh, all rules and formulas have to be stated or else you'll be marked down.
DO NOT TAKE HEAVEN ONLINE. I thought this class would, ironically, be heaven. It was HELL. I have never had such a horrible experience. Main reason being the professor. Exams are called "celebrations". This is NOT true. They are incredibly stressful. Exams were at 8PM. Harsh grader. I honestly don't know where the good ratings are coming from.
He is very understanding of student's circumstances. You will expect to have homework every day during weekday since it will due at midnight every day. However, I always finished all the homework during weekend the week before. Quizzes are easy based directly on homework. Exams are a little tricky, but many extra credit. No comprehensive Final !
No lectures, you must learn on your own. He makes you explain things to a twelve-year-old and there is homework every day. good extra credit and is it not a bad guy but would not take again.
Prof. Heaven was a great professor. He was very kind and understanding and had clear expectations. His class was a breath of fresh air compared to another class I was taking where the professor was not understanding. He provides many opportunities for extra credit and help outside of class. He made statistics easier. Would recommend him to anyone!
Amazing teacher, would take again. Had this class online, so it was difficult to manage between my other classes. But besides that if you missed a hw or a quiz on wamap he gives you late passes that you can use which i loved. The slides on the different topics were helpful as well as the videos he provided on how to solve the problems.
Took math 107 and professor heaven was very quick to reply in emails and class work is all very organised in wamap
Professor Heaven is a great instructor: responsive, patient, and able to explain complex topics clearly. He makes math more fun. He appreciated student work and gave fair grades. He also offers some activities to make up the grade. Thank you very much for being a great instructor.
Brian Heaven is a very kind professor. He speaks super quick, when he is giving his lectures. Get ready to get homework even on weekends. The homework takes forever to finish I was always in the tutor center. The tests are written and some are multiple choice but the homework and test are different. You can only use a note card for the test.
First week might feel overwhelming, but things start to flow smoothly afterward. The professor wants you to succeed, so if you put in the effort, you'll do great. Completing the ungraded review is a big help for test preparation, and discussions are valuable for checking your understanding of concepts and assisting classmates with questions.
Mr. Heaven is a thorough, supportive professor. I earned an A+ by engaging fully in his online course. He's very accessible on Wamap, so is his tutor! Discussion threads encourage collaborative learning, which deepened my understanding. He emphasizes textbook reading and holds. I'd gladly take another course with him. Highly recommended!
Online precalculus 1 class had many documents to read at the beginning to understand the course expectations. Initially confusing but once you get used to the structure it's okay. Overall moderately difficult but doable. The professor is flexible with the timing of the synchronous parties (exams), allowing you to schedule a time that works for you.
Every exam is at 8pm, you won't finish until 10pm with how picky he is about the way your pdfs are submitted. The WAMAP homework is all ridiculous, it needs very specific answers to be marked correct. You will spend an insane amount of time self-teaching and doing homework if you want an A in this course. No content is his, although there is zoom.
Brian is helpful at times, difficult at other times. Sometimes it feels like he purposely misinterprets your answer. Also takes away a lot of points for small things. But he also gives a lot of extra credit, even up to 15 extra points in the exam section. Expect to do work everyday.
Take Professor Heaven if you aren't sure that you have a shot of passing any math class, yet alone Stats. This class is HARD from any professor, but he makes it possible with all of the resources he provides and extra credit. Do everything, even the discussions, those points make a difference! This class had me in tears :| but I passed w/ a 3.9.
Professor Heaven is demanding but fair. Lots of daily assignments, but they're manageable if you stay on top of the work. The exams are tough but he provides helpful resources. I found Unstuck AI a useful study tool alongside the textbook. Overall, a challenging yet rewarding class.
4-5 daily assignments due by the end of day that will kick you out if you're in progress when the clock strikes 11:59pm for no credit. 140 assignments in 1 quarter with only 14 late passes. You will have 20 assignments week one starting day one. Do not log in late. So many negative things to say. I would never take his class again and I got an A
This professor was just okay. Sometimes, I feel like he completely misunderstood my reasoning and that reflected on my grade. The "parties" (tests) I feel like were graded in a way that it's impossible to get a high or perfect score that we set as our goal. Overall, the class was okay, but I would not take it again.
He's a pretty good teacher. He cares about his students just so much homework. I dislike that you can't reassess his parties and you only get 12 late passes. Some of the test questions are so general but you lose many points if you're not specific enough in answering. Didn't enjoy when 1 out of 5 assignments per day would be 70 questions
All I can tell ya is he's an ok professor wouldn't say the best. Just beware he will not care about you being late like turning in your assignments even after sending him WAMAP messages, still no answer. Don't assume I'm lazy or something, life gets in my way so clearly its out of my control.
