He is an awesome teacher and will become your great friend when you take his canyoneering class! He has helped me a lot in learning about different survival fundamentals and knots especially.

Fun class. Just go and you'll do great. Do the reading. Brian thinks he's too easy and might try to make his classes harder. But I doubt it. Still an easy class and good to attend. Very cool guy.

This was a tough class but extremely helpful. Don't expect this to be an introduction to commercial rec, you will learn a ton. Tests aren't too bad but the assignments can be grueling if you put them off.

Very nice teacher. Class is mostly discussion, and not on tests. Tests mostly based on memorization--ie. name a doctrine found in D&C 46, but very doable (I recommend making up flash cards to study). Points for attendance and reading (no daily reading requirement). 2 papers, worth a lot, and study journal. Class was interesting and interactive.

Great D&C teacher! Love lectures/discussions. Small class size. 1 "apologetics" paper & 1 reflection paper (neither hard); points for attendance & reading assigned sections (no required daily reading time) & keeping study journal; 1 midterm & non-comprehensive final (worth same points each); EC opportunities. Great class; casual & learn a lot!

Great guy. He was a fun teacher. We ended up going to Las Vegas for our class field trip and he was super laid back and chill about our grades and projects. Love this class and teacher

Canyoneering. Too bad it was only a first block class. It was fun, but because of weather the field trip got screwed over. We were going to do a 2 day trip and we ended up doing like a 7 hour canyon, just a hike up and then several rappels back to the cars. Brian's a nice guy.

This was the best class ever. Applied to my whole life and left inspired every single day. It's all about happiness and helping people! Dr.Hill is a great professor and totally willing to help. He has so much experience in the field of Recreation Management. If you are considering a major in RecM- you must take this class!

The River Recreation class I took was awesome! It was all about river rafting and included an AWESOME two day trip to Wyoming and a kayaking trip down the Provo River. Dr. Hill was awesome and the class was so much fun!

Dr. Hill's class was amazing. The course material is so applicable to life outside of class, and he works hard to make it interesting. There are a few papers and plenty of reading, but he makes it super easy and provides extra credit opportunities. This is a great class whether you're in the Rec program or not.

Hill is the man. His class is easy, so you learn a lot. reading quizzes you can use notes. tests have good study guides. too many papers, but grading is pretty lenient.

I loved showing up to class because the information is interesting and very applicable.

I'm not even a Rec Management major and this is my favorite class this semester! Basically we read book and learn how to be happy, among other important concepts! Dr. Hill is great, but the TA's are the ones who grade EVERYTHING. There are 7 or 8 of them and they all seem great and like fair graders, etc. If you want an A, you can for sure get an A

Professor Hill is an awesome guy that really loves just to have a good time. His lectures are relatively simple, with an an iclicker attendance. Be sure to read the test review and study what he wants from that because there is no way to tell what is going to be on the test from his lectures. Great insightful class, recommend anyone to take this.

I loved Prof Hill's class. I learned a lot about the career opportunities in RecManagement which was really why I took the class. There is a lot of reading, but it's actually really interesting. He is very clear and the homework and quizzes are straight forward. Study the powerpoints and presi's and you'll pass the exams no problem. Super fun class

This is one of my favorite classes that I've ever taken at BYU. Professor Hill is super nice and very clear about what to study for the tests. The reading for homework can be long but is usually very interesting. Loved this class and wish that I could take it again!

Dr. Hill was a great teacher and I thoroughly enjoyed the class! There were a lot of papers to write, including an 8 page research paper that took my soul for a Friday night. But other than that, a great class with a great professor! Highly recommend if you're okay with the papers.

This class is pretty preachy and full of groupthink. It was pretty easy and overall was okay. There is a ton of reading and papers. Half the class is full of awesome stuff, like flow, and the other half is condemning phones and stuff. It is also a huge plug for the rec management major.

Dr Hill is a super funny and easy going guy. I actually looked forward to going to class because we learned applicable information and lectures were entertaining with lots of videos. Tests were a little harder than I expected but if you keep up and put the time in, you will do well. Assignments were straightforward. 10 pg essay wasn't that bad.

I loved this class and think every person should take it because of all the skills and knowledge you get that is beneficial for a good life in general. Dr. Hill was very nice and I really enjoyed the class.

I really loved this river recreation class! It was the perfect summer class that didn't have too much work and was plenty of fun. Brian is really down to earth and is interested in his students as people. He'll help you out with whatever you need! I would highly recommend taking this class, super worth it!

I LOVED THIS CLASS!!! He is a great professor and the material in the class was so engaging and fun! There are reading quizzes but he has a question sheet so really all you have to do is find the answers to the questions (I always could get all the reading done the night before a reading quiz). There are a couple of papers, but they are managable.

Great class. Professor Hill kept lectures entertaining, and the coursework wasn't too difficult. I learned so much that will help me live a happier life.

Definitely one of my favorite classes I have taken at BYU. Class is fun and the lectures are so interesting. I loved the readings and the assignments were enjoyable. Professor Hill is such a genuine guy and he cares for his students! The topics covered are really helpful, especially the designing your life unit!

I LOVED Creating a Good Life taught by Dr. Hill! There's a lot of reading and attendance is vital to your grade but lectures are informational, fun, and I learned SOOO much from this class that I use everyday and look forward to continue using everything I learned from him! Take his class!

I loved his class! It was one of my favorite classes last semester. I was absorbed and pulled in by the material and Professor Hill is really nice, easy going and fun to be around. Great stories and you can tell he loves what he teaches.

I absolutely loved Hill's class! There is so much to learn that will help individuals through their entire lives. He is a fair grader and gives interesting lectures. The reading is interesting and the quizzes are pretty easy. Just make sure you show up and listen in class and attend the TA reviews, and you'll be fine.

Brian teaches some incredible ideas in this class. If you listen and learn to apply it, it really will benefit you and become applicable, regardless of your major. It's important to go to class, but the lectures are interesting! The semester-long project is fun and the paper isn't bad if you prepare for it.

FAVORITE CLASS! This class is so applicable to life. Every project you do is so much fun. He will always warn you that he tests are really tough, but you can find everything you need on the slides. There are lots of readings but they're engaging and interesting. If you go in wanting to apply principles to make your life happier, take this class!

Professor Hill is great and I really liked this class, but it definitely took some work. You have to buy a couple of books and an expensive packet of more reading to do the reading quizzes. You have a couple papers to write and a big project that requires 20 hours of participating in activities. Very fun and interesting, but you have to work

This is a very good class. He was very engaging and made the lectures fun. It definitely is difficult, but it is expected for a class of this type. The interesting subject matter makes it worth it. The TA's were impossible to contact, but overall I would take from this professor again.

Make sure you do the reading, or at least the reading quizzes. His lectures are unusual and engaging. A solid choice for sure. You will need to study well for the midterms.

There is a lot of busy work in this class (I think because it counts as a GE). There are a lot of research papers and long-term projects to balance. There is a lot of reading due essentially each class. BUT it is all engaging and captivating material. I personally loved everything I learned (annoyed by the busy work). The lectures are fun & fresh!

Dr. Hill was a great professor! The class material wasn't always super interesting but he did his best to make it fun and engaging. If you do all the assignments and go to class you will be fine. He also has a lenient late policy which is nice. He assigns projects that are super fun, but be sure to get a head start on them.

Brian is one of the best professors I have had at BYU. I took his Dutch oven cooking class, canyoneering, and creating a good life. He is a genuine person and only gives assignments or work he feels has value. He has a good sense of humor and is understanding of students. You learn great skills while having a bit of a break from regular courses.

Took this class through Canvas and Zoom, but content was easy to find and understand and TA's were willing to help. All you really needed to do was read and participate in the Modules that were assigned and the class was really easy.

Please take EXDM 300. You will learn so much applicable knowledge, and the class is so interesting. Since I took it on-demand all the weekly assignments were due each Friday. Overall the work was moderately hard but doable. Test were average difficult, but I didn't really go to the reviews. Again, please take this class even if you aren't in EXDM.

Prof. Hill is a great guy and you can tell that he loves what he teaches. The class is life-changing if you let it. Many of the things he teaches are lists and case studies, but I found that if I actually put the lessons into practice, it was meaningful. There is a large load for this course, but if you do it right, you'll see growth in your life.

I wish I could've met him in person, but even doing online only I could tell how much he loved the class and its subjects. Great guy! There is lots of reading but it's good and you can skim it if you need to. Expectations are clear for assignments. TAs were all really great, too

I haven't even finished out the semester, and this is one of my favorite classes I have ever taken. Brother Hill is by far one of the nicest people, and his course work is inspiring. I talk so much about this class and all the things I am learning. 10/10 would recommend.

Professor Hill is a great guy. He really cares about helping students have a good college and life experience. I learned a lot from this class and I would definitely take from him again! This class helped me decide to apply to the EXDM program. It is very applicable and not too difficult, but does require consistent work! Very doable.

I enjoyed everything I learned in this class and loved Professor Hill. Needless to say, this class made me happy but the homework didnt. Lots of reading every week with exams every two weeks, lots of busy work in between, and a 6 page paper to fulfill the global awareness GE. However, very very doable and its all about how to have a good life!

I did learn interesting things in this class, but I felt it was harder than it needed to be. If youre interested in experience design it would probably be really helpful to you. There are around 8 big assignments for the class including a research paper and 20 hours of BYU experiences that are quite time consuming. Also a test ever other week.

Dr. Hill is very knowledgeable and helps one understand course concepts. I definitely enjoyed his lectures although there was a lot of reading a papers. My main advice would be watch out for the last 2 weeks which can just slam you with hw. But besides that it is an excellent class!

Such a fun class! Taught me so many important things. Pretty simple and straightforward class but so valuable. This was a spring course so we had an exam almost every week, but they were fairly easy. Almost everything is a participation grade except major assignments and exams. Pay attention to the time of due dates, most were due at 8 pm.

Dr. Hill is a great professor. Honestly, the reason I got an A- was because I didn't turn something in on time and I was on the edge. If you do the reading study guides and the exam study guides you will be fine. Honestly, there was a significant amount of work for this class, but the lessons are actually applicable to real life.

This class has a lot of reading, but all of the reading material is very interesting. Professor Hill goes over everything you need to know for every test, and he has amazing thoughts on the subject. He is very caring. I had health issues that put me behind on a major project, and when I explained the situation he was very willing to help me.

I'm not sure why everyone's rating him so low. I loved this class and he was the perfect prof for it- a truly happy man. There was a ton of work, I'll admit that, but it was all fun. I mean, we made a spaghetti tower. I'd much rather do that than write an essay, ya know? Definitely life-altering and a fun break from hard classes.

Professor Hill is a really caring professor who has such a nice way of teaching that you're never bored. He provides great insight, and he is a great example of how applying these principles in this class will make you a happy, and good person. The course does have a lot of busy work, but it's busy work that makes you ponder yourself!

Not sure why this class is getting so much hate. Prof. Hill is a good professor that cares about his students and the material. Sometimes the assignments get a bit long but not too bad. Yes, there are lots of exams but they're only 25 ish questions and I didn't study for besides the final and got decent scores on all. The grading is super easy too.

After seeing the reviews on here, I was expecting this to be the hardest class but was completely wrong. There is quite a bit of work, but it's all interesting and applicable to your life. Tests every 2 weeks and many projects throughout the semester but since there are so many of them, you don't need to do extremely well to get an A in the class.

I loved this class. If you're thinking of taking it, DO IT. I took the blended version, and it was a lot better than I was expecting. You watch half of the lectures online and attend the other half in-person. There is a lot of reading but it was all things I'd want to read outside of class so it worked out well. Professor Hill is phenomenal.

I absolutely loved this class! It requires a lot of reading, but it is so interesting, and this class gave me new insights into living a good life. Professor Hill is amazing, really cares about his students, and wants you to succeed. I highly recommend this class! It requires work, but it is definitely doable if you put in the effort.

Professor Hill is amazing!! This is not the easiest GE class, but it was honestly my favorite. The material you learn actually benefits your life. Assignments are all beneficial and honestly if you actually do the work the tests are not hard. I highly recommend this class!!!

I have no clue why there are such bad ratings. Class definitely has a lot of reading but its not that bad. I am not the smartest student and a really bad test taker, but it was still an easy A (even on tests). The only difficult thing was a 6 page paper. I think this classes difficulty depends on wether your TA is a nice grader.

This class was great, even if it's not required for your major, as many of the things it covers are great life tools! Professor Hill's videos and lectures were super helpful in explaining the material necessary to do well on the exams and quizzes. Lots of assignments, essays, and reading, make sure to be on top of it!

Everyone who wrote a bad review clearly does not understand the point of the this class. Yes there are readings, but they are some of the best readings that you will have during your college career. They are worth reading because you can apply all of the principles into your life. The projects are fulfulling and it's to give you experience. Love!

This course is fun and pretty easy. The final seems intimidating, but it's not too bad. Doctor Hill does a good job of teaching the material in meaningful ways.

This class was definitely a fun class and Dr. Hill is a super nice guy. My only complaint is that the tests and homework are a little overbearing and long to be every week/two weeks. I wish it was in person, I would have learned a lot more. Also don't go to the TA Reviews, watch the videos of Dr. Hill, that is where the test info comes from mostly.

I took Professor Hill's River Rafting class, It was a lot of fun and pretty easy for a two credit class. We had write one log every time we went on the river, like 3-4 sentences nothing bad. We also had a book (river theme) that we choose to read and write a 1-2 page paper review on it, easy class though to pass! I would take it again for sure.

Super great class. Readings every week. 5 exams. 1 bigger paper and 2 smaller ones. There are some bigger projects but they are pretty simple. I really loved this class. Lots of positive psychology. This class is the easiest Global and Cultural Awareness GE out there.

This class has a TON of filler assignments, midterms happen every other weekend and the tests can be kind of tricky. I found the content to be cool and helpful but its difficult to really test someone on their understanding without becoming nitpicky. Great content, but the layout is built so you shouldn't get an easy A

He's a really kind teacher and very organized. However, tons of unnecessary reading that repeats the information. Don't even buy the packet, I never used it once. I took EXDM 300 for the Global Awareness credit and by far the best class to take for a general.

Midterms and final was easy. The TA's send out study review lecture recordings and slide notes for every exam which had the exact questions. AND Brian Hill literally lets you have a second chance on whatever test you want. PLEASE do not buy the packet, only the textbooks. Super easy class with easy material. Take for a general credit!

The concepts were super interesting and I really enjoyed all of the readings, even though they were time-consuming. There were also tests and reading quizzes every 2 weeks and 5 major assignments. This class is definitely a ton of work, but if you're interested in the concepts it's really cool.

This class did have a lot of homework and tests but I never felt overwhelmed. If you stay on top of it, you'll be fine! Dr. Hill was enthusiastic and the content in class was super interesting. Would recommend!

Lots & lots of tests in this class but GO TO THE TEST REVIEW SESSIONS (they are held by the TAs & they literally tell you everything you need to know. 1 hour long). Lots of reading in this class too but I never did the reading. I just found quizlets with the reading questions. def a busy work class but not difficult. good general fulfillment.

ok. so much busy work it is not even funny. SO many exams. i am shocked at how much work there was considering it is a GE and an intro class. it is actually insane. Teacher is so nice and sweet though.

This class has a lot of work, but if you stay on top of it, it's manageable. The material is really interesting, and unstuck AI was a game-changer for studying. The tests are tough, so make sure to attend the review sessions.

Professor Hill is very laid-back, and he gives you several chances to succeed. While sometimes there may be lots of menial assignments (especially with reading assignments), the overall course really was not that difficult. As long as you do the assignments and use common sense, you will definitely do well in this class! He's so chill and fun!

Dr. Hill was great, I just didn't enjoy the class that much. We had SO MUCH TO DO and it wasn't very enjoyable for me. I think it might have been better had I taken it in person, but online was the only thing that worked with my schedule. Other people LOVED him though, so again he is great!

Test every two weeks, at least 2-3 hours of reading each week, and projects that span the entire semester that can be kind of daunting. The title of the class is a little misleading if you are thinking that this will be an "easy class." This class probably gave me the heaviest work load out of all my classes this semester. Dr. Hill is nice, though.

Lectures are optional and don't enhance understanding much. Biweekly quizzes are based word for word on reading material, so take the time to do that. There is a solid amount of writing required, and the workload at times felt overwhelming but at the end of the day the material isn't difficult and you can succeed with a moderate amount of effort.

This class was a lot of work but so worth it, I learned very interesting concepts that I now actually apply to my life to make me a better person. Hill was great at leader the lectures, he really knows his materials and made class fun with small group discussions and games.

This was one of my easiest classes, and you get out what you put in. There are a decent amount of assignments but they are normally not difficult. Online lectures are the same concepts as class. The TA reviews are super helpful and made the tests easy. There is reading, but just print off the questions and skim for answers.

I honestly really loved this class! What we learn is pretty applicable to everyday life, and a great curriculum to learn how to enhance your overall well being and happiness. Mine was hybrid, so lots of pre-recorded lectures which can take a while. However, if you space out the work, it's doable! Many quizzes are open note and straightforward :)

This class could have been so impactful if it weren't for how much work was required. I enjoyed it though. And then you have to write a reflection paper on how great the class was hahahaha. Also Brian is super chill, but him and the TAs aren't aligned. The TAs are a little tyrannical which gave me whiplash

I loved this class! There is a lot of reading and a bit of a workload outside of class, but I loved the material which made it easy to have the motivation to do it. It was very inspirational and I enjoyed listening to the lectures. If you are interested in the content, the workload is bearable. Professor Hill is a chill guy too.

This class is a lot of unnecessary busy work for sure but it's honestly pretty easy. If you are a good student and stay on top of your work, there is nothing difficult or hard about the assignments. Lecture isn't required. Watch the videos on 2x speed and ctrl F the readings and you'll be just fine.

Brian Hill is an amazing guy, idk why all these comments are so negative. Take this class, its changed my mindset on a lot of life perspectives

River Recreation over the summer is SO FUN. We only met 4 times over the summer and we went up to Wyoming as our final assignment. I met so many cool people- super easy I would recommend

I loved Brian Hill and his classes are so fun and informative. Be aware though, there is so much work in this class and it can feel very stressful, but it is still work taking!

Brian Hill is awesome! Super kind, caring and respectful. There is a lot of homework, but the class informs you on truly how to live a good life. The overall class is not difficult at all, it is just pretty project heavy. I learned a lot and enjoyed it, everyone seems to be shocked that you need to do work for a class that counts towards a general.
