Hogan was awesome! Grade is almost entirely 3 tests and the final, but you can drop a test. 2% was determined by worksheets on gradescope he gave everyone a 100 for, even if uncompleted. I honestly liked the flipped classroom, preclass lectures were long but more detailed so you didn't have to study outside sources as much. Tests were fair

Dr. Hogan is the best chemistry professor I have taken at UNC! I took CHEM430 online during the fall 2021 semester and he was super accessible outside of class and is very knowledgeable about the subject material. He tries to make his lectures as engaging as possible. The course is 97% your exams and 3% homework that is graded on completion.

Dr. Hogan is the best chemistry professor I've had at UNC. Biochem is an objectively hard class, but he explains things very clearly in his lectures, gives many practice problems, and is always open to answer questions. His tests are also very fair and align well with content covered in lecture. Would definitely recommend taking biochem with him!

Dr. Hogan oversaw my fall semester Chem lab and honestly it was as pleasant as a night lab can be. The assignments were to the point and the TAs provided clear feedback that made it easy to improve as the course went on. More enjoyable than my 101 lab and not nearly as dreadful as I was expecting. Hogan is a solid choice for a lab professor.

Absolute BEST professor I have taken here at UNC. Has clear expectations and provides everything (and more) for everyone to get the best grade they possibly can. Didn't go to class and only relied on his recorded lectures, and that honestly all you needed to pass all the exams with an alarmingly good grade. Definitely have to study, but worth it.

Dr. Hogan is an amazing professor. Although the course is test-heavy, most of the exam content is taken directly from the Powerpoint slides.
