I liked Dr. Johnson. He explained Math very well, sometimes a little too abstract and over my head.. He takes as much time as you need to understand a concept. He is very visual which was great for me!!!! Super nice person!!!!

Extremely helpful and kind, one of the better professors at Nova, wants to help you pass math. His tests are fair and covers only the material he goes over in class. I highly reccomend Prof Johnson.

This Guy is the true nutty professor, who knows his math, but is a studder and goofy looking guy. If you want to pass Algebra II, take him. His homeworks are easy, because he doesn't check the detail work. Attendance is not even something you need to worry about. As long as you come and take the tests, you'll pass the class, because I know I did.

Very nice guy, and he knows his mathmatics! Granted he does have a hard time talking, but over all you can learn a lot from him and he is always willing to help. If you do have to fail his class, well thats because you did not do the work.

He knows his stuff, but is sooooo boring!! I don't recoomend him if you are ADD or get bored easily. You will fall asleep in his class. You are bound to get an easy grade, but that's if you can put up with the 1hour and a half that feels like 5 hours of class.

Dr. Johnson is a very sweet man. His tests are graded extremely easily. You could get everything wrong and still pass with partial credit. I found him a bit hard to listen to and I'm not sure if I'm well prepared for pre-calc, but if you need an easy pass, then this is the man for you.

Im actually bad at math, but for once in my life i met a teacher who CARES about you. He will remember everyones name, and make sure everyone understands everything. Hes very friendly and very caring. I would like to take Calculus with him if i can but he doesnt teach that till summer.

He's a cool teacher but his class is kinda boring. He takes the entire class time to answer hw questions. Which is why he gives you handouts to learn on your own. His tests are easy though, and he gives you study guides with what will be on the test. It's definately an easy A.

The best Math Teacher I've ever had. Very helpful, responds to every email. Tests are easy, and his instructions are crystal clear. 3 exams and a Final. Homework is mandatory it's 50 points of the grade, and exams are worth 100 a piece equaling to 300. And the final is 150 points, good luck!!! If you take his class you won't regret it.

Prof. Johnson is one of the easiest teachers I've had at NOVA. He's nice, smart, and responsive to students. He does have a noticeable speech impediment, but you get over it quickly. I would recommend him if you want to pad your GPA, but if you're looking to learn a lot take calculus instead.

I took his class over the summer and found it extremely easy. He did not grade based on attendance, was very clear and easy going, and gave exams that were not difficult. Overall I highly recommend, especially for a summer course that is "fast-paced", he makes it very easy.

This teacher is amazing. He has a speach impediment but you get use to it fast. If you take his class you will pass!I had to repeat mth 3 & 4 but when I got to his class I got an A. Good professor. You'll have to get used to his voice though... He has a stutter, but is otherwise very easy to understand. Honestly, if you didnt have an interest in math before, you are definitely not going to find it in his class. Although he is a very nice professor and tries his best to help his students, his teaching style is very unorganized. Slight speech impediment, but you get over it within the first 5 minutes of hearing it.

Extremely helpful. Attendance is NOT Mandatory but do Avoid missing too many classes if you want to get A's on all 4 exams. He doesn't drop any low grades. We had two extra credit opportunities. Overall very easy if you attend most of the classes or at least the review days before tests.

There's like 5 exams during the semester and even though they're pretty fair, you're screwed if you don't know the material because Calc is just not easy. He also watches the class like a hawk when you're taking the the exams. I would recommend but he's not ideal imo.

His test are the easiest! Only 10 hws are grades (for completion). He genuinely cares about students and tries to help you. Do the hw and test should be easy. Professor Johnson made Pre-calc so easy, I would definitely recommend him to anybody. He has 10 home works which are turned in based on completion, 3 exams, and a final. In my whole high school career I had never been able to get above a C even with a tutor. Professor Johnson is amazing I got an A in the class and on all of the tests. I was never able to get a good grade in math afterward either so I give all the credit to him. He makes everyone very comfortable and actually cares about his students.

AMAZING teacher! I took him for pre cal. this is my second time taking this course, I didn't pass the first time, me and math dont click but he makes it easy. first test I got an A which I have never done! he is really there and makes sure ANY questions are answers. every class he goes over any homework questions, gives us a outline for the tests!

Prof Johnson is a great guy, hes really nice. But he teaches the subject in a fast pace and if your not good in math you will be confused on what your doing. He does give extra credit on the exam but the question are hard. He give 10 to 15 questions on the tests. you have to show work. overall if math is hard for you take someone who teaches slowly

His lectures are sometimes confusing because of solving a problem non stop without asking students if there's any questions or confusion.... his exams are decent because he gives out outlines of what you need to study for the exams. Do not assume that you will get an easy A from him, YOU WILL HAVE TO WORK FOR IT!!

4 exams with a final, prepares you for the exams by a review the class before and study guide, hw is not too long but many of the exam problems come from the hw therefore it's necessary. not to mention he's such a fast grader and is always there for you!!

Don't be fooled by first impressions. Professor Johnson can teach and he can teach well. He takes the time to explain things clearly and tries his absolute best to answer every question you have. His tests are fairly difficult but but he even gives study guides before the rest and lots of helpful material. Even takes the time to remember your name.

He really wants his students to succeed even gives extra credit BUT you must put in time 2 work on problems highly recom doing the hw + 2 hrs outside every hour in class this is crucial to passing.

He's one of the best professor at NOVA in math department. he will not make you go watch online videos or take notes. HW is due only ones a week. If you're not good at math he is highly recommended. He goes through everything clearly and tests are easy.

Thanks to Professor Johnson I received an A in MTH271 after failing it twice before with different professors. He is clear-cut in his lectures and explaining concepts, consistent with emails, and grades exams fairly quick. He genuinely cares for students and their success however it's up to you to take the initiative to ask for any extra help.

Professor Johnson is a solid teacher. He makes things pretty clear, test aren't too tough, and not a ton of homework. Plus extra credit galore. He's not fun or interesting however and his voice would get on my nerves from time to time. But he gives you the tools to succeed and if you use them, it's an easy A. Highly recommend.

Professor Johnson took the time to remember all the students' names. He also made sure to say hi outside of class, and he always offered his help. He was very understanding of personal situations and his lectures were easy to follow. He gave homework once a week. He follows the syllabus to a 'T'.

Dr. Johnson has made calculus as simple as he could, his lectures are similar to the problems that will show up on the tests, there are 5 tests, including the final, which is cumulative, so make sure you review all the previous material, his practice problems come right from the textbook, no math lab, I would recommend him to anyone!

Math is not my strongest subject and I usually don't get higher than a C in it. But this teacher explains things so well and gives easy tests! Just make sure you show up to class and do the homework! He's awesome and I would definitely take him again.

Dr. Johnson is the easiest, but nicest prof I've ever had. The class was hard, but you can actually learn from him. 10 homeworks, 4 exams, and 1 final. He gives partial credit if you do the work on test. If you have an MOA, he'll let you have the accommodations. I'd recommend taking this course with this prof for anyone planning to transfer to GMU.

Professor Johnson is a great professor. He takes very challenging material and presents it in such a way that it comes across as easy. There are 10 homework assignments; There are four tests (none are dropped); There is also a cumulative final. If you do the work and show up to his class you will do well.

Do your homework. Tests are from the homework. He does go over homework questions, but don't ask too many questions because he has to teach new materials. He does not slow down, so try to keep up using office hours. 4 Tests, one final, 100 points each. Show up and learn. Sit in the front.

He is actually the best professor so far for this course. Don't mind when you hear every end of the sentence with "uhh". Assignments is all in a orange textbook he uses and lectures too;no mathlab but it's optional for extra help.

I would recommend anyone to take him! Hes very good, he doesnt make the subject complicated, all you need is do the hw and takes notes. Most of the grades you get are from exams, and theyre almost exactly the same materials as he did in lecture. He is an amazing professor! I had a D in Pre-Calc & I was able to take Calc. I struggled a bit but taking him made class easier. He saw I was really trying in class even though I had bombed some tests and didn't show up to class because of sickness. I thought I wasn't going to pass but he was nice to even bump my grade up!

Mth 271 is not easy but able to pass his class with A. Be sure to do all the hw he gives, practice as much as you can, and youll be fine on the exams. Hw is actually harder than the tests. His lectures can be confusing sometimes; so, doing all the hw and studying them before the exams is really the key to pass this class.

Hes a great professor! Take him, hes really good at going homework and review. Take him if you want to succeed in Calculus. His style of teaching is fast pace yet he is very detailed about the lecture and review. Many people who are struggling should take him because hes give out lots of practices and homework for test. You have to work hard!!!

Brian Johnson is a good teacher. If you show up for class regularly follow the lecture, take notes, do homework, and study for tests you will do fine. He is an easy grader if you can show you understand the concepts. During lecture he sometimes goes very fast. HW (50pt) Exam 1-3 (100pt each 300pt) Final (150pt). Attendance not mandatory.

Easily one of the best math professors I have had, he gets really excited when teaching and is willing to stay after to help you understand the subject if needed. He really cares about each of his students and wants them to pass. Theirs practice hw (thats not graded) and hw that is graded due every week. Overall I enjoyed his class.

If you struggle with math: take him. I've always been horrible but was able to get 105% on my final (yes, that isn't a typo). Every beginning of class he starts with explaining difficult homework problems; be ready for great + detailed lectures! Do homework and you'll pass; 3 exams + final based on hw. It was hard to sit through classes because it was a condensed 6 week class which amounted to 3 hour lectures 4 days a week, but Professor Johnson's energy level was always consistent. Crystal clear syllabus, reviews homework problems, gives out review problems and a review packet of the concepts for every test.

I loved Prof. Johnson! When I first showed up I wasn't sure what to think, but I continued with the class and it paid off. His exams are super easy and short and he goes over homework problems in class so everything was very clear. My class was a 6 week excelerated course, so there was a lot of homework, however, as long as you put forth some kind of legitimate effort, you should do well!

He goes pretty slow when teaching, so I'd recommend working ahead on homework if you can. He does stutter and stumble on his words a lot, so if that bothers you I wouldn't recommend him. But if you want a super easy A I recommend him.

Professor Johnson goes over the assignments every class and responds to your email in a timely manner. Additionally, he gives people extra time for exams. You'll be using the textbook and doing Excel assignments, which professor Johnson goes over by showing you examples before you do it yourself. Overall, I would take his class again in a heartbeat

Great professor if you put in even a little bit of work. If you haven't taken algebra in a while you might need to relearn some of the basic knowledge needed with math sites but it was manageable. Homework wasn't too complicated and was easy to manage and tests were easier than the homework. If you put time into doing the homework you'll do well.

His course consists of 3 exams, 8 excels, and 2 week hw assignments. He is very good at explaining the content and is very kind. If you were good at math in highschool you might not even have to attend class that often. Exams are usually based off hw and he usually provides a study guide that is basically a replica.

Prof. Johnson is a very sweet man. This class consists of HW assignments of doing as many problems you can from the textbook, 3 exams, and 1 final. Ngl, the final was a lot harder than the exams, but the exams were pretty easy. Be ready to put in the extra work, just like any math class. However, for 261, this class was very doable.

He was a very nice person. I took his MTH 161 course for the spring semester to get back on track with my classes. He also helps us to understand the concepts better. You guys should understand the concepts if you listen and do the HW. There are 3 exams and 1 final. He gives out problems to work on to prepare for the exams, it is helpful.

He is an excellent professor who talks you through his lectures slowly so you won't fall behind. His excels are very easy (he basically gives you the solutions on canvas). His tests are also very easy, when you take his last exam just make sure to review the answer keys and you'll easily pass the test with an A. I highly recommend this professor.

As someone whose weakest subject is math, I signed up for his class after seeing the great reviews for him here on RMP and hoped for the best. Professor Johnson is awesome, I took an accelerated 6 week summer course and the class was a breeze. Homework includes physical hand in papers and excels, which are fairly easy if you pay attention in class.

This was my first math class and it was super easy. All his tests were based off the outlines and reviews he gave, definitely do them. I took a 7-week class so it was pretty fast but not hard to keep up. His homework's were graded on completion. Exams were only up to 12 questions, final was 16. Lectures a little confusing, better to self-teach.

He was also super accessible outside of class and replied to emails quickly. There are 2 exams and a final, plus excels and turn-in homework. The class is test-heavy, so make sure you do well on the exam.
