AMAZINGLY INTERACTIVE TEACHER, HE LOVES TO TEACH AND STILL LOVES TO LEARN AND THATS WHAT MAKES HIM AMAZING. WONDERFUL PERSON, VERY HELPFUL WITH PAPER WRITING, ALWAYS HAS TIME FOR HIS STUDENTS.

Dr. Kennedy is a great teacher that will really help you organize your essay, instead of just focusing on grammer and tochnicalities. go to his office hours, and you will learn a lot.
This was the funnest class! Lots of interesting discussions. But... it was one of the toughest. Time flies in class but be ready for lots of homework.
FUNNY & enthusiastic! Always available during ofc hours; very supportive. Loads of reading & papers, to prepare you for UCLA--but he's clear about expectations & encourages creative responses and approaches. (Not hard to look at either ;-) )
He is a very nice teacher. He's funny and gives very clear lecture. Even though he gives alot of homeworks, but as long as you work hard and put effort in it. He will give you a very fair(good) grade. I think his voice is very sexy..^^
Not a difficult class, he's an exceptional professor, amazingly articulate. He's so hot, I'm regretting not going to Oxford.
He is a great teacher. He truly cares for his students and is willing to help with any questions about homework and papers. He is always available to clarify any questions. Do expect lots of homework. He is so hot and has the prettiest eyes!
Dr. Kennedy lectures with enthusiasm. He wants you to open up your mind and think critically and not just accpe things as they are. I think he is a funny and excellent teacher. The California theme of the class is very interesting.
he may want to open up YOUR mind but HIS is sure closed. hes one of the most liberal leaning professors ive ever met and he incorporates way too many of his political views into his class instruction. its so hard to find a good unbiased english teacher. he sure isnt one of them.
Kennedy was my teacher for the study abroad program. He has good taste in what books to assign (the ones we read were pretty good). The assignements we had weren't too hard, but still challenging enough. He's a great teacher, and quite a character.
Dont take his class.. one of the most hard teacher I ever met in mah life.. its very hard to get a good score in his class. If u really wanna learn eng take him.. if u dont, I reccomend u to take some1 else
omg, i was dreading this class when it was the only 1 open. but i began to enjoy it. he is a fair grader. i loved this class, it was super fun, interesting lectures and he's VERY helpful in essay writing. dont b shy to ask for him to proofread ur essay. it gives u more direction on what to write. =D
forget it! This Canadian guy sucks!
People who say he sucks are lazy! This guy is open-minded and allows all opinions as long as you can back it up. You will learn a lot in this class! There is hard work involved but he is not hesitant to help you and guide you through the process. He is also very funny and laid back.
kennedy rocks
Hard teacher..beware people
Over all he is alright, all I remember learning in his class is this central california theme.
One of the best teachers I had at PCC. He elevates the class to another level with his well-prepared lectures and explanations of literary theory. Promotes a laid back and intellectual atmosphere. You will do well if you read and participate--HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Great teacher. If you make the effort you will do well. I really enjoy his dry sense of humor.
Hard Hard Hard Hard
Dr. Kennedy sets high standards for his students, but has never neglected to give credit where credit is due. His lectures and assignments will challenge you to think beyond your usual sphere and to rise to meet his own academic level of astute awareness. This teacher has been one of the greatest and most influential teachers i've taken.
Extremely brilliant professor who genuinely cares about the education of his students. Allows critical thought in class and approaches all ideas with an open mind. Very comfortable learning environment in class with main focus on class discussions. The class is highly recommended to ambitious students.
Those who say he's hard are just lazy. Participating in class discussions is useful if you want to get a better grasp on the material. His class requires critical thinking and hard work, but the end result is worth it. Most importantly, he's always makes time to help his students.
He isn't hard, but just makes you put effort into your work, he can tell how much work you put into something. He is a brilliant and wise man, and extremly intresting. From his personal stroies to his own, sometimes wacky, opinions. Fair man when it comes to grading.
kennedy is a rare prof. this is the english teacher to take. if you do the assinments it'll be easy. he does make you think, but only because he knows you're capable of doing it. class is really interesting. kennedy looks at his students eye to eye and has this special motivation power. oh, he's a huge hockey fanatic. MUST TAKE HIM for ENGLISH.
He's an amazing professor. If you've had him once...you'll wanna take him again. He's extremely helpful and doesn't mind explaining things after class-no matter how long it takes. If you want to learn excellent writing skills-TAKE HIM!
Dr. Kennedy is the best english professor that i have ever had. Although he didn't mind failing you, he took a great deal of time and effort to show you how to pass his class. He also valued your opinion when you wanted to express it.
uses societal evidence to prove his theories regarding writing based on LA rather than using the text for evidence during discussion. otherwise, keep in mind he was a 1A teacher, so he disregards any stylistic approach to writing. stick to the traditional intro, body, conclusion, 5 sentence paragraph stuff and you'll be fine.
GREAT professor! I took him for Engl. 1A and was so happy with the way he taught that I decided to take him for Engl.1B too! Awesome professor! Huge hockey fan. Different form other professors. Class work was not hard @ all. Makes you think a lot though...
I hate all english classes and was not looking forward to taking any, but he was a gift. Hands down the best teacher at the school in my opinion. Not an easy class but he made it so great it didn't matter. Take him if you can...
Kennedy is an awesome teacher so far. He is very specific and to the point and discusses everything in class. Take him if you want to have a fun English class but i warn you, you may not learn a lot in here. He creates a great thinker outta you. peace.
Brian is good professor. Although you will not learn a great deal, you will have fun in his class. Only 4 essays to do with mild homework that isn't too hard. He is a gret guy. Funny, specific, and comes down to the level of the student such as talking like one and taking in feelings. Take him if you are not an english major.
I'm not sure why the other student said you won't learn anything, because I learned how to write essays in Dr. Kennedy's class, and I'm an English major. He makes the material interesting and he obviously wants his students to learn how to write the perfect essay. I'm now an undergrad at Cal State LA, and I owe much of my success to this guy. Tak
Humble, humorous, and helpful. I enjoyed his class very much. If you already know how to write his class should be really easy. Straightforward assignments that can help you in writing the big essays. In my opinion, he looks somewhat like Mel Gibson.
Kennedy is AWSOME!!!!!!!! Great guy, loves what he does. The topics are supper interesting. About 4 in clas essays but he let's you know what the questions are in advance so you can prepare. He has guess speakers and he's real down to earth!
very clear lectures pushes up the class atomosphere.
He is a very clear and precise teacher who has a divine passion for the subject. Also because I'm Englsh he always makes humourous remarks about my country of birth but that's cool!! P.S. It helps if your an ice hockey fan!!!
He is an excellent teacher! :)
Awesome teacher!!!
Wonderful!
He's okay. Sometimes people were rather lost, so we felt we had to do our own thing. As long as you do your own thing though, it's okay. Just make sure to do your homeowrk...or assignments. sometimes he's not too clear either, he doesn't curve at all so if you aren't good at english don't bother! No fianl though!
He knows what he's doing, and he cares about you. You just have to work hard--do your part, in other words. I learned a lot about research.
Good guy, and interesting teacher. My writing got better, and that's the point of the class.
he's hilarious. enjoyed his class thoroughly.
Dr. Kennedy, is one of the best professor in PCC. He is passionate about English and his wife Gaby. He is always availabe for students, and willing to help. He introduces new concepts that will make you a better writer. If you make the effort you will do well.
I love him! he will help you if you ask for it.
Decent guy, likes his job. He's not going to do your work for you, but he'll help you to get better at writing. You just have to stay busy every class.
Take ALL of his classes and you will never regret it. Many of students end up taking all of his classes and some just sit through his classes even though it's not their class. The best professor I've had so far in three years. If you do all your work you'll pass his class
great guy. very, very knowledgeable. you'll a lot from him. he's clear and and on top of things.
He is a great professor. He is nice and kind. You have to do your work, and he will help you make it better. If you're looking for a lazy class, it's not this one. There will be 4 essays, 2 in class, 2 at home. In general, he is very reasonable and understanding.
first i must note that i got a D in this class due to my own issues, that being said professor kennedy is a stand up guy. turn in your work on time and you should do well.
Nice guy and he really cares but his choice of books to read was HORRIBLE. The Rez Sisters was good and everything else was really second rate stuff. Got a B in his class but could have got a A if I had showed up more. Take him for 1A but not 1B.
Good guy and smart. Likes student input. You cant just sit there and do nothing. OK class overall.
He is nice.Do your work, and you will be fine. Only 4 essays(80%, 2 of them in class) oral participation(10%) homework+english 900 (10%)
Decent guy. Makes you work every day, so don't take if you're looking to slack.
If you want to take a class that basically should be called the history of Canada, then take this class. There is a lot of reading involved and quizzes are taken daily from the readings. i would not say its a hard class, but i really think that you just have to be a good writer to survive this class. the B.S writer with useful words.
Take Professor Kennedy! He is super nice, and the class is fairly easy.
Wow! Great teacher. Helps you out and gives many question essays. The books are like history books, but hey, you can at least learn something new. Plus if you like hockey or soccer, take him and do not drop the class. He loves to watch soccer and hockey. You can be glad once you take him.
Talk about a wealth of knowledge, this professor knows it all! He's funny, witty, and supportive if you show him that you are serious and dedicated. Although I didn't agree with the structure of his class (i.e. quizzes, midterm & final test, little writing), I learned a great deal about Romanticism, Victorianism, Modernism, and Postmodernism!
Most of the essay stuff is something you'd learn in a history class, but you still get your fair share of english in here. Overall, nice guy and interesting class. I recommend to take him.
Idk. Honestly he's super boring! I hated his class and I'm an english major! First teacher to give me a D on my essay. But I was having a hard semester. Personally I wouldn't take him again! :/
At first I had no interest in taking in class, I just had to because I am an English major. So far he has been one of THE most incredible, helpful knowledgeable, funny teachers I have ever had. He knows what he is talking about. If you read, do the homework and participate in the class....you got your A! Plus he is really handsome and charming!!
Kennedy is one dorky guy. He speaks in a monotonous tone, but he's deeply interested in the literature. Overall, not a hard guy on his students and not too hard.
Great man! Totally a choice for english. His stuff is a lot of historical issues but you will be pleased in his class. He will help you as needed. He also is a big fan of watching the NHL games.
Dr. Kennedy will prepare you for university courses. He seems to have incredible patience and is incredibly kind. As for lectures, some are good and some not so muchâ??depends if the reading is his forte or not. In any case he's a fantastic introduction to the enterprise, representative equally of both its good and its evil.
The class was all about Canada (Kennedy is Canadian). He knows his stuff and is willing to help the students in class and during office hours. It is a lot of reading and there are quizzes on them. Nice guy and fair grader. Allows redos on papers. Overall, good class, would've been more interesting if there were different topics.
Awesome professor! If you're ready to EARN an A take him! Not for lazy people. He's very helpful- GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS, he always offers you his time if you just ask for it. I would take him again! :)
I'm glad I decided to take his class! he's a very interesting professor and tells you exactly what he wants when he assigns homework. He can be funny at times! take him!
Overall I really enjoyed Professor Kennedy's course. It was definitely not one of the easier courses I have taken, but if you engage in his discussions and apply yourself then you'll be able to pass. He doesn't give many tests, but he grades based on essays and homework assignments. He requires two in class essays, and another research paper.
I wasn't sure what to expect going in, but I'm so glad I took this class. No it is not an easy A, but it is not an impossible A. He treats his students with respect, he values what they have to say, and this class will make you better in a lot of ways. Some quizzes on readings, 3 essays, no final, hw. Engage and come prepared, you won't regret it.
Great teacher
Great teacher with very clear lectures. Reading is absolutely required.
Kennedy is like a walking encyclopedia! He knows so much and he's really laid back. Go to his office hours for help if needed, but he's a terrific professor! He does assign a lot of work and sometimes you don't really get in-depth but I enjoyed the class. I took 7 different English prof at PCC, he's within my favorite top 3.
WARNING* I don't recommend anyone taking this class, if they are not an English Major, as it is very time consuming and competitive. HOWEVER, For those who are studying English, Kennedy guides you to success In the English Department and is someone who you wouldn't want to miss + Learned a lot
Looking for an inspirational, understanding, helpful prof? You'll find one in him! Weekly quiz from reading (Oedipus, Desire Under the Elms, 6 Characters, Misanthrope, Cloud Nine) (50/100 points). Gives you diff. choices to earn rest of 50 points. Listens to you and brings comfortable atmosphere. Buys icecream for class. UNFORGETTABLE Prof.
Professor Kennedy is one of the greatest professors I had at PCC. By the end of this semester you will know so much more and you will (slightly) feel like you're a literary scholar. He is an incredibly fair grader and leaves great feedback. Plus, he's very understanding and always is respectful of his students. Would recommend this class to anyone
Dr. Kennedy is such a great professor. His class has inspired me to major in English. His Eng 60 class is a very fun class and his requirements are very clear. He gives a lot of options on how to earn points towards your grade. Can't wait to take him again!
One of the best literature teachers in PCC. He is respectful, responsible and cares his students. He has a special sense of humor for those who are really into literature. He never misses a classes and keeps his spirits from the beginning to the end. He is a person really loving what he does. An amazing teacher with a noble mind!!
If you do poorly on the 1st essay (which is in-class), don't worry. You WILL grow as a writer & critical thinker/analyzer in this class. He is one of the kindest, most intelligent & helpful professors on this campus & it is very easy to build a close, respectable relationship with him. READ THE BOOKS & good luck if you don't. Office hrs are a must!
nice, very clear , would recommended to anyone
i am not the type of person who enjoys english, but Professor Kennedy made class enjoyable. our class was two hours but felt like 10 minutes he's a great professor, once class is over you don't feel like leaving.
Dr. Kennedy is definitely one of my favorite professors at PCC, and I've had good ones. He is funny, and a great teacher. He is helpful with the papers, and makes class fun. He made WW1 literature so interesting, like I never imagined. I wish he used canvas, but I could go on about why Kennedy is awesome!
LOVE DR. KENNEDY! i took his honors class, you really need to be a smart student and be ready to work hard. He is such an amazing professor, i took him for 1B too!
Most boring English class I EVER had. Topic was WWI, which was interesting, but his class structure makes it boring. Prof is disorganized and forgetful unless its about our grade. Class is confusing w/ disorg. discussions, unclear hw instructions, and rarely lectures on anything useful that's not already covered in Eng 1A. Half of class dropped.
I enjoyed the extra reading and the class discussions were very interesting. Highly recommend this honors class.
I loved Dr. Kennedys English 1B class. He really seems to appreciate each of his students and his essay comments are thoughtful. Discussion is a major component of his classes and he encourages individuality of opinion. I really looked forward to our class discussions and felt inspired to have strong opinions. His dry humor is quite entertaining.
didnt like his class at first but I ended up liking it. hes so funny and has dry humor. he makes class interesting and entertaining. pretty easy class just do your work and read. you will have about 4-5 essays, 2 essays are in class
Kennedy's english classes are interesting and not hard at all. If you're not a strong essay writer he gives really good feedback and will edit your papers before you turn them in. Do the reading he gives super easy quizzes at the beginning of each class (no need to study). most class time is spent discussing the text so you should like speaking.
HES THE BEST. He honestly made class super entertaining and I just love his humor and his sarcasm. He talks kinda monotone but hes great & get ready to read in this class
I thought this class was going to be easy. NO. He gives a lot of work as in complicated journals that are basically mini essays for him. No communication that the book we needed for the class, wasnt going to be available yet still assigned homework. So that meant a lot of stuff to print out to annotate & read. It was confusing for me.
Really good teacher, but you gotta do your homework. We did 4 essays in class and he is more than happy to help you with it, if you need it, read a book and also taught some grammar activities that people should already know. Other than that, he really cares about those who show him that they try their hardest in the class. He doesn't use canvas :(
Hes such a great teacher with dry humor and I just love his personality. I didnt really like this class at first but now I wish it never ended. You write about 4 essays, 2 in class and 2 take home, its not bad because he gives you great feedback. Hes also negotiable/works with u, just do your work and youll have a blast. TAKE HIM!!!
Kennedy is very nice and is always willing to help you out. Grades are based mostly on papers, but he prepares well for them. There is quite a bit of reading to do, but the books he chooses are interesting and are not too hard to read. Overall, he is a great professor and I highly recommend him.
Lectures can be boring but he is a dry humor type of guy and does care. Go to his office hours for every essay and you'll basically get a free A. Don't waste time going to the writing center. Participate for the participation points. Make sure to do well on easy quizzes and homework. caring and lenient, just ask him about your grade and he helps.
Awful don't take him! short 2pg papers in his own specific format & grades very tough (6 of them) Constantly like 80% of the time rants/talks about other things ex Hockey & doesn't teach. I only passed well thanks to Mid&final exam that had normal format papers & remember to read cause it is the only way to pass.
PROF KENNEDY IS THE BEST!! One of my fave professors at PCC. You will love his class. He is hilarious and has such a great personality, super caring, and always willing to helpful. You will have to read and write in this class but it is nothing crazy/difficult. Would definitely take his class again
Dr Kennedy is a very nice professor. There are four papers total and he prepares you well for them with the assignments. He also grades pretty quickly and gives good feedback for your work. It is a lot of work sometimes but if you keep up, it's not a super hard class. He is also not a very hard grader on the essays.
As a person, I found Kennedy to be entertaining and interesting, but whenever it got to teaching, things became droll and most of us could not focus. As the head of the department, he certainly taught like a professor who was by the book, and his content as well as testing was heavily focused on retention. Additionally, he is a rough grader.
I took Kennedy for English 1AH and he was a really good professor, but i do warn you guys that there will be a lot of reading with this class. I would have given him a 5/5 rating, but he expects us to read 200 pages in a frame of three days. Like that was the hard part keeping up with the reading, but he is an easy grader for essays and good advice
Dr. Kennedy is an erudite scholar and passionate professor. He teaches English Literature for real. His discussion design is for deep understanding. He posts a question with related page numbers and requires you to discuss your point with the specific text support. He is training you like training a future graduate student.
Dr. Kennedy is the best!! He worked hard to make our class engaging and meaningful, I learned a lot from his lectures, and was really inspired by the readings. He makes himself accessible when you need help and clearly outlines what he wants. You can tell that he cares about his students and is passionate about what he is teaching.
i love this man i think he's so funny & i truly learned a lot. wouldn't necessarily say he's a harsh grader as long as you do what he wants you to do & read what he assigns. his lectures get a bit repetitive and he hates you being on your phone/computer but he's truly brilliant, if you're an english major any of his classes are a must take!!!
Dr. Kennedy was always ready to help and respond to canvas messages. Final grade mostly determined by 4 essays, but he helps with outlines before the essay is due (very insightful feedback given on each outline). Quite a bit of reading was done, but enjoyable books were assigned. Would consider taking the class in-person but online was still great.
Due to it being an online class, turning in your assignment on time is important. Four major essays basically determined your grade. Professor Kennedy provided great feedback on outlines making it less stressful. I loved how there were office hours to come and ask for help! Lots of reading so be ready
Dr. Kennedy is so intelligent and you can tell he truly loves Literature, it is very inspirational, especially if you're an English Major. I learned so much. As long as you read the assigned material, there is no way you'll do bad in his class. Quizzes and papers were honestly fun to do, and the quizzes were not overly difficult or unreasonable.
Dr. Kennedy's ENGL1AH class is engaging despite some dry lectures. He provides helpful feedback and is generous with grading. Utilizing Unstuckstudy and participating in class discussions are keys to success.
