A pretty cool guy.
This was the best class I've ever taken - very interesting! Classic movies!!

What a sinch, this class was so easy, all we did was watch movies and talk about old cameras. I came to class so high everyday and still managed to get a perfect score in all the tests! take this class!
piece of cake. easy A class
soooooooo easy.just watch movie and you can get A
Great teacher fun class. Just go to class enjoy the great movies and get someones booklet who has already taken the class. Study a little before each test and your good to go. And the extra credit on final is easy just watch the movies.
Highly recommended for those that are at all interested in movies and filmaking. Will greatly increase your appreciation of different movies, old & new. Very laid back class, virtually no homeowrk. One of my favorite classes out of 4 years at OCC.
So interesting and easy...a fun class. Just watch the movies and fill in the blanks. Tests are right off of the study guide--an easy A!Plus, you will learn a lot..
Got myself in trouble by missing a few classes but watched the extra credit and made up for half of a test almost. EASY!
i learned a lot about the film industry. just have to follow along with the class notes and youll be fine. dont take the class for granted though.
Pretty easy class. Watch interesting movies. learn a lot about film. good class to take
this is my favorite class of the semester! he makes it fun and exciting! everyone should take this class!
cool class.
Easy. One notebook. Attend class, watching movies, and that's all. You can get an A easily.
Very clear and sooo easy. The class desciption says it all- apreciation of cinema. And you will appreciate cinema after you take this class. Great movies to watch and easy tests. A++
This is the most fun I have had in any class. The homework consists of diffrent movies you have to watch. The book you buy before the class begins is everything you need. Go to class though it can hurt you point-wise if you don't 2 pts a day adds up.
Class was easy, you fill in notes into the workbook that you buy. The test questions are straight from the notes. Word to the wise, avoid missing any tests or showing up late for the test. The make up test is beyond impossible.
Dude! This class is the EAsiEst Class I've ever taken! I've also learned a whole Lots bout the film industry n get to watch movies that have started it all!NO regrets in takin it.
Other than the fact that I think this class should be titled The History and Appreciation of Hollywood instead of film, it's okay. You will learn more about film star salaries and Hollywood backstories than you will about film technique.
Cool ass Teacher!! knows alot of hollywood movies and u watch the best ones in class. very easy, interesting, and fun.
This is the most enjoyable class I've ever had!...very clear as he lectures what he shows so you can remember it easy for the test! Would take again if I had to!
Easy class, show up, fill in the study guide (no book), go over it a few times before each test and you'll get an easy A. Great class for film appreciation.
Great Class, just study the study guide you filled out and you'll get an easy a or b on tests. No textbook and explains everything well.
Great class, easy A as long as u study the fill-in questions, and get to watch some interesting movies from different genres.
This class is so simply. The book is the same each semester and all you do is watch movie. If you need a class to take a nap, take this one
this class was awesome. took it in summer to complete my GE requirement..at first I thought I would be bored outta my MIND for takin a cinmea course but no way man it was dope! teacher is real chillz too..take it, you'll be more informed about hollywood!
this class was so easy. should take it during the summer so it doesn't waste your time. It's really easy and you get to learn about different movies and watch really dope movies!
such an easy class not much work to do. your grade is based on 2 test a midterm and a final which r easy. but i have to warn you this guy is a snoozer. he is BORRRRRING!!!!!!! but the easy A makes up for it.
I love movies, but this elitist made me hate them momentarily. He's pompous and dull. The class is about the history of film, not the history of Brian Lewis. Two thumbs down.
Great teacher, love his lectures and love watching movies. Try not to take his late class because it's really easy to fall asleep. Really nice guy and he tells you exactly which questions are going to be on the test. Easy class, recommended.
greatest class ever, he tells u the quesions/answers for each test, movies are all decent to watch, fun class he's a good lectuer and a chill guy. i'd take this class again no problem, he gives extra credit too
no joke, best class ever! i for sure thought what the hell can be so fun about cinema for 3 hours, but honestly its one of the best classes i've taken at OCC! I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend this class, its easy and fun!
He is really cool and the class is pretty easy. He gives all the test questions and is really cool. I would definitely recommend this class.
I absolutely loved this class. Brian did a great job making it interesting. I'm a film major, but I think I would have loved it even if I wasn't. His test reviews are great. I recommend this class to every I know!!!!
he is very organized and his tests are pretty easy if you study the key points~
DON'T listen to that review by 10/23/04...the class is beyond awesome and way easy...you watch movies and kick back...plus he is a cool teacher...straight-foreward and gives you slides on screen to get help for tests before class!
even for a class where you get to watch movies all day, it's boring as hell. lewis isn't a bad guy, but his lectures are drrrrry~ and the power point presentation never ends. those really interested in film will do great, tho.
Cool guy, cool class, notes dont change, so if you can get someones............yea, you get it. Real cut and dry class, just sit back, fill in the blanks and enjoy.
He is very organized and strict. If you get to that class three minutes late, he will take two points away from your grade. I like the way he teaches except that on the tests, there are questions that are not part of what he teaches.
One of the easiest classes at occ...
He is a fuuny guy and the class is easy. I mean the homework assignments are watching movies! He gives you the questions that you need to study for the tests. And i would recommend getting the video rental card so you can do the extra credit.
THE EASIEST CLASS AT OCC!He tells you EXACTLY wat will be on the test, you never have to study anything until like a day before the test becuz the info is so easy!this class made me want to be a film major even tho im not, but hell totally make u love it!it feels like going to the movies theaters!?!
If you're looking for a class to rid yourself of your evil general ed requirements as quickly as possible then Film 100 is for you! The tests aren't difficult as long as you make flashcards and memorize everything he tells you to (the day before the test of course). Extra credit is given for watching movies.

It was an interesting class were you get to watch movies. The three hour class was really L-O-N-G though so I would recommend going two days a week. But if I can get an 'A' so can you!!
kinda boring. but easy. hw is just watching movies. if you make flashcards it helps, but the questions on the tests are tricky! KNOW your stuff! but not too bad of a class
This was the easiest class I have ever taken, but he was so boring it was hard to stay awake for 3 hours...

not a good a good class...very boring....
take notes.. he exactly tells u what to study.. as long as u study notes.. and come to lecture.. easy A
I was truly impressed with the organization of the class. Everything seemed to flow nicely, classes were interesting, educational, fun, I learned so much in this class I really enjoyed it.
easy and fun class; exciting movies and inscreen viewings; teacher knows his stuff and teaches easy onto his students; very professional in his field and in his very own work.
Very easy class, just be there for the lectures, all fill-in, the book is like $25, and just review the class lecture fill ins before the test and you'll at least get a b.
Great class to take cuz its easy, fun, and you get to watch interesting movies. The Graduate is a very good film. Easy A if you get anything lower than a B then theres somthing wrong with you.
very easy class....only 3 test...watch movies all class...good movies....u should go class cause good attendance raises ur grade up one letter grade....very easy classs...highly recommended
Easy Class if you attend and take notes and do the outside viewing. Test questions are shown if you show up early to all classes
very easy nota fair tacher, very lazy guy, will not do anything for students who need help
I love this class. Mr. Lewis is cool. He sounds like the guy who gives studios tour in the Universal Studios lot. He tells you what to study for and it's all multiple choice. I actually enjoy going to class and learning about the movie biz.
"Film History" is a joke. It's VERY easy, but that's because it's a crummy overview: an entire 4-hour session on the dawn of action movies, but nothing about the French New Wave? Aside from the glaring oversights in the curriculum, Lewis himself is alright, but his teaching is passionless and monotone.
This class is easy so enjoy it. It is structured and the lecture is scripted. The class is interesting based on your personal interest. Attending class, making flash cards, and doing the 12 pts of ec is helpful towards an easy A. Get to class early to see possible test ?'s and have someone to share answers for fill-in's, etc.
It's a great class! Definetly Take it for Art credit. It's really easy if you do the work ( watch a few movies) and go to class. It's like going to the movies while at school. It's relaxing...but a little long. oh ya...Bring a jacket it's freezing!
Great teacher easy class...very interesting and you get to watch movies all class...take this class you wont be disapointed
Lewis teaches teh class well but the class is so impersonal that it kind of lacks the personal touch that would make the class better in my opinion. But he teaches the class well and it's real straight forward and to the point. Show up watch the films and it's easy to get an A.
Mr. Lewis is a great film teacher, and this class is also super easy. you hardly have to take any notes because everything is in his textbook (which is also your notebook) and most of the stuff is fill in. Super easy class, just study up what he says to in the notes for the test and you'll do fine. Very entertaining movies and movie clips as well
COOL CLASS....A LOT OF OUTSIDE VIEWING THOUGH....SO IT TAKES SOME TIME
The class is enjoyable. As long as you really pay attention while in class, there really isn't a whole lot to study. He lectures well and his lectures are organized, straight foreward and cover everything you need for the test.
He's a really great teacher, really nice too. You just need to be there for the class or else you're not going to get a really great grade. I went for every class and barely even needed to study my textbook. He's really enjoyable to listen to during the lectures and plays interesting movies. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
professor lewis is an amazing teacher and the material really grabs you and makes you want to come to class. by far my favorite class last semester, some outside viewing but nothing unbearable. just got to class and watch the films. TAKE THIS CLASS!
i took the winter intersession class so it went by pretty quick. the movied you watch are great and he is pretty knowledgable. the class is pretty easy, and the tests are pretty easy also. definetely recommended
This teacher usually teaches a large class so if you need help, you need to go and see him. His test are pretty easy if you study. You watch movies in his class. I recommend everyone to do the extra credit in his class because that will boost up your grade!
Lewis is aight. He tells you what you need to study on test. I recommend that you guys ask for your friend's film book coz I borrowed from one of mines and I didn't do crap in class and just sit in class and chill. Some Q's on test are tricky though. A good class for sleeping haha
Nice guy, easy class, and you learn something.
I took this class online. The lectures are painful to listen to, as he is very monotone on Blackboard. We didn't get any extra credit opportunities, and the way the format is on the tests is a little tricky. You can't go back to change your answers once you submit.
I like his lecture. It is hard to keep up the test score. But easy C or B class without studying. Extra Credit (Outside Viewing 10pts) No Quize, Tricky Test.(Only 4-5 test in semester)
Listen to the lectures instead of sleeping or texting with friends because he will reveal facts that will be on the test. The book, attendance, and extra credit is necessary to obtain an A. The documentaries are boring as heck and the movies were superb. Good class overall and good teacher (slightly monotone though).
Class is hard to sit through. Have to listen to lectures because its most of the test. The test are not simple need to study. If you study and listen you will pass.
I heard this class is easy..but it wasn`t for me..you need to watch videos and take notes..its kinda hard to catch the words from the movies.3 Exams total..tricky questions..easy B if you study + go to class every time. He`ll let you know whats gonna be on the test but it`s not always gonna be on the test...
I took this class online and it was super easy. Yes the lectures may be boring, but I'm sure the regular class is much more painful. I got an A on every test. I went over each lecture and filled out all of the film questions as well as the study guide. It was EASY!
Easy Easy Easy. it was a good break from all my classes. who wouldn't love a class where you sit and watch movies like The Graduate and Bourne Identity? learned a lot too!! Tests were a breeze if you study and pay attention to his lectures
This class is simple and easy. He literally tells you what to remember, but you also have to do your part and study the circled material in the text. The relaxed atmosphere does kinda make you lazier I suppose.
I took this course online and all I can say is watch the lectures, take notes, and watch the movies. Guarenteed A if you do that. He is easy to listen to also, his voice is not annoying like other professors can be.
If you want to take the most boring class that turns an exciting world of film into a drab, lifeless, arbitrary powerpoint presentation then this class is for you. my peers slept, text messaged, and couldn't stand Mr. Lewis' monotonous "well" this and "well" that. He may have been exciting before (he knows stuff) but the delivery can kill ya.
Easy course. Show up to class, take notes, and watch all the films and easy A. The class notes are fill-ins for the book req for this class. I found it extremely easy. Exams are based off the notes. Love this course! Wished all classes were like this.
I really enjoyed the class and learned a lot. However, don't ask questions because he is rude if you do. Attend class, take notes, and don't bug the teacher you will get an A.
Arrogant. You need to study for the tests and show up to class. I got a B because I didn't take it seriously and worried more about chem and math. He doesn't interact with students, just gives his lecture, but hey, you get free movie tickets to premiers sometimes...
I would say this class is very interesting. Of course if you don't like movies, you wont really enjoy it. Attendance is apart of your grade. The tests aren't hard. He tells you which problems will be on the test. I recommend making flashcards of those problems a couple days before the test. A lot of material, but strictly memorization. Easy.
Lewis is nice. Lectures are boring. Movies are great. i definitely underestimated tests. winged it, received Bs/Cs. attendance is a must. memorize! don't be lazy, bc it is so easy to be esp. in this class. gives u answers to some questions. some questions u forget on test bc they go way back and youre like HUH? overall, easy, laidback teacher.
I took his online class & thought it was super easy. Take notes on the lectures and watch the movies because his tests are right from it. I didn't use the book at all. The class overall was interesting & lectures weren't too bad. I liked it [:
TAKE THIS CLASS!!
I took his online class, and it was SUPER-MEGA-EASY. His test questions are literally directly from what he says in his lectures (word for word) and the film fill-ins. There is no secret to success in this class, watch the movies, listen to the lectures, and you'll get an A even if you're dumber than a tree. (Although, you do need to know english)
This class is quite easy, as I effortlessly cruised to an A by sleeping in class and ignoring every extra credit opportunity. The lectures are nearly suicide-inducing, as he gives a long-winded history only to be repeated in the subsequent documentary. He also gives away the plot to every movie shown before the screening. Take at own your risk.
This class was very easy... Keys to success: 1. Take notes on the review, and while you're listening to the lecture, answer your notes... 2. Watch the films and answer the fill-ins... 3. Collect profit from betting that you couldn't pass Film 100. If you want an easy way to satisfy your requirement... TAKE THIS COURSE ... ONLINE!
The (online) class itself and movie selection were interesting. The tests, however, were meaningless. Getting an A only means you either have short-term memory or can use google. The majority of the questions were verbatim recall multiple choice questions, being split about 55% lectures/45% movies in terms of test content.
took the online class-very easy. finished 4 week class in 2.if you're good at time management and have easy access to library at odd hours I would recommend it. lectures give pretty straight information and the history is very interesting. his tests are very easy and the movies he makes you watch aren't bad. I would say overall good class, easy A.
Very boring lectures. I wanted to fall asleep everytime. Some of the movies that you watch are entertaining though. STUDY FOR THE TESTS!
class is not easy unless you actually sit and watch the boring lectures and films...nice teacher though
interesting (online) class. you learn a lot about the history of film. never knew how fun this subject can be. good movie choices. very fun facts. tests are easy if you take good notes for the lecture and watch the movies. easy A. GREAT GUY TOO!
Took ONLINE, super easy A! If u have Netflix, this class is a breeze for you; watch a movie each week (silent movies r boring, but they progress each week), watch & TAKE NOTES on powerpoint each week (TEST ?'s are EXACTLY from powerpoints), 3 EASY Tests (you get 60 minutes, but I finished in 15-20 minutes which gave me time to go over answers). FUN
show up to class, fill in notes, watch movies, take tests (multiple choice). extra credit's offered. HONESTLY TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR. he makes it interesting, he's such a cute old man. He loves what he does and it's an easy G E class.
Took this class online and it was a super easy "A," a great addition to any schedule. It only consisted of 3 tests and I would have them done in 30 minutes, you are allotted 60min. Netflix is a must, makes it that much easier to obtain the movies, many such as the early films you can only find there or the OCC library.
I took this class online and it was pretty cool. Lots of information packed in his lectures. Make sure you study for the tests even though it is online!
This online class was super easy. Make sure you take GOOD notes when you watch the online power points and yeah, you need the online version of the workbook. Netflix isn't really a must; I got it just for this but I couldn't find some movies on it so yeah...maybe the library film pass would be better?
he's definitely one of the best teachers. he makes the class interesting and he's very helpful. easy A. he gives a lot of points for attendance
Had him for online. Test are straightforward and easy. You do need to take good notes though, just use MS Word and type rather than writing. You can take more efficient notes at a faster rate while listening to him lecture online. The test is more on the lectures than movie questions. Overall, easy classs though some movies are sooo boring.
Easy A. Very important you attend though. You just fill out the book at class and occasionally watch movies at home. I would suggest taking his class. No homework! No reading!
Easy A. Very important you attend though. You just fill out the book at class and occasionally watch movies at home. I would suggest taking his class. No homework! No reading!
Took the online class and it was really easy. No homework, just take extremely detailed notes on the lectures if you want to do well on exams. The earlier films were a little boring, but once they got more modern, it was interesting. Buy the film rental card from the library for 10 bucks and you can rent whatever movie you want.
He's so cute with his sweater vests! But the class is super easy A and very interesting if you enjoy movies. Don't take the class online because you watch most of the movies in class and he helps answer the questions. Tells you what questions will be on the test based off of the notebook. Shows great movies although some lectures can be boring.
SUPER EASY! :) test is straightforward. Definitely a must-take for GE classes :) I still have the book new and I can sell for cheap. email me @ [email protected]
wasn't very helpful when i was trying to figure out how to get onto his online class
I took this class online and it was great. SUPER easy if you take good notes on the lecture. PROTIP: ALWAYS answer the review questions at the end of the lecture. KEEP THESE for the test. They ARE the test questions in a different order and format. If you can do that and watch some movies, easy A :)
I took the online class, and my tip for you that you must take very good notes from the lecture to get a good grade. most of the test questions are from the lecture not from the review Questions.and netflix has all the movies that you need to review.
he is not helpful :(, test's questions are from small details in the lecture, I took online class.
Took the online version od this class. Don't be fooled and think that this is easy just because its online. Its a time consuming course since you have to copy notes to do well on the tests.
I took his online class. It's actually time consuming; ~45 min lectures, then another 30 mins writing down his review questions and answering them. And then there's the movies. If you take good notes, and study them, you will ace the test. Very interesting class; I loved learning about film pioneers back in Edison's time, and even prior to that.
Online class. 3 online tests and that's it. 75 questions in an hour, only takes 30 mins. Weekly 1 hour lectures and watch about 15 films, then answer questions about them in the book. All test questions are at end of lectures or in the book. Easy A. He emails back fast. Email him directly for website help. Our assistant didnt do anything. Got an A.
VERY easy. 3 tests.12 Films. NO other work. Note down EVERYTHING like Location, Dates, NAMES-job, Definitions. Note pages per Chapter should be about 4-5 pages each (you are copying important stuff from lecture/most of it) Tests are 1 hour for 75 questions. Tests are 2/3 Review Questions. 1/3 from Movie Fill-in. Procrastinated every month & got A.
Very easy. Copy everything from lectures so you have notes to refer to, and use the questions at the end of his lessons as a study guide, test questions come from those. Movies at the beginning are boring, but you'll get through them. Make sure you have a good internet connection, mine cut out 10 mins into test #3 but he let me retake it. Easy A:)
I love film history so this was right up my alley. Super detailed online lectures so be sure to take notes on everything. Again i love the history aspect of film so his anecdotes are interesting. He picks core classics which most people should enjoy, if you don't, you probably shouldn't be taking a film history class. 3 simple tests, no assignments
Took this class online. Relatively easy class. Make sure you take good notes during the slides and watch the films he assigns.
