Very easygoing and nice professor! No exams, 2 papers (3 pages each). Online quizzes for each chapter, worth 10 points each. He says you must read the book to pass
Brian's probably the best prof I've ever had. He's worth the 3 hour night class! He's really funny and cares about his students. The "tests" are all online, with no time limit, and open note. He tries his best to make the class fun, but understands most students are there because its required. I'd give him a 10 if I could! Theres extra credit too!
Definitely one of the best professors LSBE has to offer... This guy really knows his stuff, and his lectures are great! 10/10 you should take him for BLAW! As long as you attend class, keep up on the quizzes, and all the other assignments/papers, you'll have no problem getting an A.... Very engaging lectures, would highly recommend!
Great Prof. If you have chance to take a class with him do it. Weekly quizzes make up most the course grade. Quizzes are hard can't find them online, have to look in book. Easy Grader. Only one test which is online that you can go in and out of and work with others. Great guy, lectures aren't horrible but attendance is worth same as final exam.
Professor Lukasavitz is a GEM. Funny & nice guy who understands that the law is confusing & boring but still finds a way to make the class interesting. There is a group presentation (pretty easy), a paper or two, and then online quizzes and an online final. You also must attend court, but it's actually fun and interesting. TAKE BLAW WITH BRIAN!!!
Informative and entertaining. He cares about his students and makes sure everyone understands the material. The projects and presentations are interesting, and he doesn't mind if you are shy when presenting. he cares about the information presented. fair grader. responds quickly to emails. makes business law actually fun to learn about.
Brian is a solid professor and tries to make his lectures fun and enjoyable. Weekly quizzes that are open book open notes, only one test in the class and that is the final which is also open book open notes. Overall great professor highly suggest taking him.
He is a great professor. I highly recommend him as a professor and is the BEST BLAW professor. He cares about all the students and wants everyone to get an A. Love this man, absolute gem.
If Lukasavitz is an option to be your professor take him! There's a reason he has such good ratings. For online classes he takes attendance for Zooms for points so its not necessary but you don't have to have your camera and participation is rarely required. Your grade is mainly worth of weekly quizzes and a few projects which are open note.
Cares a lot about his students success.
Brian is such a good professor. I took this class from 6-8pm which is not ideal but he did a good job giving us lots of small breaks during class. His lectures are so funny and he knows what he's talking about. Very minimal assignments.
Lectures could drag on just bc I took the 3 hour course, but he tries his absolute best to make it interesting and fun. Attendance and participation was graded. Homework and quizzes were easy. Super helpful!
Brian is my favorite teacher I've had at college thus far. He really finds a way to connect with students even if you're in a huge lecture. He wants everyone to succeed and the way the class is structured is perfect and makes sure you have a good grasp on the information needed to bee learned. I would recommend this professor and class to everyone.
Brian is by far my favorite professor at UMD, especially for a two-hour long night class. He makes the lectures fun and exciting as well. Make sure to participate as well. Quizzes are not hard and the assignments are easy to understand. I highly recommend you take BLAW with Brian. He's a real gem.
A great teacher, before I took his class I took it with Rogers and ended up dropping it because the professor was so bad. Lukasavitz actually makes attending class fun, engaging, and worth your money and time.
The only 3 hour lecture I enjoy going to. Gives breaks during lectures, fun to listen to and very engaging. Overall really cool guy.
Great professor! Don't even think about taking someone else for BLAW 2001. His class is at night but it is totally worth it. He is engaging during his lecture as well.
Do yourself a favor and take Brian.... you will not regret it at all.
Best professor that I have had in college by far. Made going to an almost 3 hour night class more than tolerable, and was still able to learn a lot of material. I 10/10 recommend to take a class with Brian.
Brian is an amazing professor, super easy, and not a hard class at all.
This was definitely one of my favorite classes I've ever taken throughout high school and college. He always kept the class engaged and did an amazing job making not so interesting topics, interesting. His personal stories that he mixed with classroom lectures made everything so much more compelling. Hope I can take another class with him. 10/10
He was probably my favorite professor I've had so far at UMD. A Business Law night class might sound like the worst thing ever, but it ended up being my favorite class. His lectures are super entertaining, and the quizzes and final were open book and not timed.
I loved this teacher!! make sure you make one friend in the class
By far the best class I have taken. Professor Lukasavitz is so entertaining and made the 90 minute class so bearable and it always went by so fast. Theres barely any homework and he ensures that you understand the material. Hes a very approachable person and genuinely loves teaching.
BLAW 2001 is one of those classes that are required for all LSBE majors, so you can expect 90% of the class just to kind of tune out while he is talking about contracts. But I promise you, pay attention and talk to him and you'll leave with a lot of knowledge. He is an absolutely underutilized professor here at UMD. Bonus points if you're musical.
He's literally the best professor I've ever had. He gives very engaging lectures on top of being an all around funny and cool guy. There's a quiz per chapter as well as a few bigger projects. He's very lenient with extensions and is willing to work with you through issues. Highly recommend.
Absolutely amazing. Cares so much about his students and is pretty lenient with deadlines, attendance, and grading. Definitely want to take him again!
He is the best. Love the guy.
Brian is the best college proff. I have had through 4 years and 4 different colleges. He makes class exciting and Blaw in general is interesting so you will not be bored with this class. He is super understanding of students having lives outside of his classroom as well as being in 5 other classes so he is very accommodating. Take his class!!
If you are able to have Professor Lukasavitz, take it. He is extremely understanding of students' time and never uses more than an hour for his night lecture. Very easy to reach outside of class through email. If you need extra time on an assignment he will give it to you as long as you explain the situation. He also gives out extra credit. 10/10
He is amazing. Nothing more to add. Incredible
First day of class, the dude throws the textbook in the trash can. Amazing teacher, actually made topics interesting and I learned a ton just from him being an engaging professor. If I had to miss class, it genuinely made me sad. He seems like a genuine, awesome guy with experience in the workforce.
Professor Lukasavitz is hands down the best professor I've ever had. His lectures were entertaining, but so informative too. I wish he taught more classes so I could have him again. You will absolutely not regret this class!
Brian Lukasavitz is the best professor I've had at UMD. He is very passionate about teaching and makes business law an interesting subject to learn about. He gave out extra credit and didn't have too many assignments. Brian also cares about his students and gave amazing advice. If you need to take BLAW definitely take it with him!!
Awesome professor would 100% recommend taking this course.
Best Professor at UMD
Cool guy.
So much charisma that he manages to get all of LSBE 118 to participate in discussions.
Awesome
Entertaining, engaging, interesting, and still informative/helpful. Awesome professor.
He is the best prof I have ever had TAKE HIM!! over anyone else, and he is so funny
Mr. Brain is by far the best professor i've had so far at UMD. I would literally look forward to his lectures because of how entertaining and educating they were. He's not your typical professor who just reads off slides. He actually engages with students and creates real life scenarios to help them connect it to the real world. 100% recommend him!
easy class, and only graded on a handful of things. Lectures are mostly just class discussions which are nice and personal, he also actually takes students' input which I don't see many professors doing. I did only attend class a handful of times due to him canceling class, so I don't think I necessarily took a ton from this course.
Very eccentric guy, but in a good way! His lectures always made me laugh. Super chill guy in general, only a few projects here and there and weekly quizzes. Easiest class I've taken here so far.
BLAW 2001 has been my FAVORITE class so far. Brian truly cares about what is is teaching and his students. He is accessible outside of class, always responds to emails, and will help you understand the information rather than just teaching to get the lecture done. I would HIGHLY recommend this class and ANY class with him!
Brian makes every lecture exciting and interesting which inspries students to come to class. He does discussion questions every week and you do get participation points if you complete yours and talk about it in class. I would take a class with him every semester if I could because he makes learning something to look forward to.
One of, if not the best, professors I've had. I am an engineering major and this was one of the easiest classes I had while also teaching me a lot. Brian really cares and will change almost any grade if you talk to him and demonstrate that you understand the material. The class is heavily based on quizzes and homework but both are relatively easy.
Great guy, really engaging and funny
BLAWWW TIMEEE, you need this guy in your classes, super fun and provides super good examples that help remember material.
most baller prof ive ever had
IT'S BLAW TIME!
This class was supposed to be an easy LibEd/dual major credit for me. I planned on only really showing for required/graded events, but honestly his lectures are interesting enough to stay on Campus the extra hour!
I had Brian for Race and Law and as charismatic as he is, I don't think he knew what he was doing. He didn't really teach. It was just the students presenting in the groups he assigned and the topics he picked. Also, make sure to keep up with the calendar because he never talks about assignments in class.
"I have never sold children". Dude got my five star vote with that quote. BLAW TIME WOOOOO
Best professor ever. His lectures were very engaging which helped me learn the content. He only gave out about 1-2 homework assignments per month. The exams were online and open book but be prepared to spend about close to 2 hours on them. We also got to go to court for an assignment and observe some case hearings which was super cool.
BEST attitude I've ever seen a professor have. He comes in every day excited. The content gets a bit long but he does a great job of keeping students engaged. Test Online. He actually implements feedback from students. One of the best professors at UMD. Take him!
Brian is really cool, but he might choose you to pick on for a question. He's funny and has a lot of energy. The only issue is if you miss class he doesn't put the notes on Canvas. The tests are taken outside of class and are open note. Good guy, good professor
He is a funny guy and makes class interesting but he doesn't post his notes on Canvas which can be annoying but almost everything he says in class is from the textbook
BLAW time, wooo! Funny and knowledgable professor. Just be sure to follow along with taking good notes because you can use it on exams. Exams took me a really long time, but its open book and note. Check syllabus incase he doesn't mention assignments in class.
Brian is an amazing professor! The only thing is that someone argued that the class was too easy, which in turn made the class harder. All of the exams are short answer and all of your assignments are short/long answer.
Love Brian! He is awesome! He is incredibly honest with his students, cares about you and your well being, and this was literally the easiest class ever. If you are stressed over this class, you are doing it wrong! Brian has always made us laugh even on a Monday night from 6:00-8:45pm. Absolutely recommend taking this class- you learn a lot!
He was extremely passionate about this class. Even though it was a new class he really tried to make it worth everyone's time.
Genuine guy cares about his students. He cool. Brian ik you read these you a good professor ong
If you need to take a race, power, and justice class you need to take this class with Brian. For the whole year we only had 3 group projects that you had multiple weeks to work on, and 3 exams all of which were taken out of class with open notes. He doesnt care if you "use your resources" as long as you put some amount of effort in.
This class is simple and applicable. If you show up and actively pay attention then you will pass. Brian keeps the class engaged with the terms and uses real life examples that he has seen being a lawyer. He is easy to reach outside of class and a fast responder to any questions you have regarding to projects or the class.
BLAW TIME! Brian is a great person and keeps class extremely entertaining and engaging. Very few assignments and all of the unit exams are open resource.
Such a good guy. Made lecture so interesting and applicable to the real world. Definitely recommend taking the monday night class. I liked how much he had real world experience.
Professor Lukasavitz is a very nice and funny guy and all of the exams are open internet which makes the stress for the tests a lot less. Sometimes the lectures can get a little boring, but overall he is a great professor and cares about his students' well-being.
This professor is caring about his students and passionate about his class. He made the class pretty easy, other than a few papers and group projects you just show up to class and learn. My only complaint is that he did not communicate things very well, like deadlines, assignment details, and changes to the course.
One of the best instructors I've ever had. I'm not in the business school but took race and the law to fill credit. And am so glad I did. Brian is incredibly passionate and wants to get everyone engaged. I only wish that the class was smaller so more group conversations could be had. I learned so much in this class I wish there was a race & law 2!
Love him! Very lecture heavy but very interesting and does a lot of funny jokes so its not hard to stay engaged. Take him for an easy A, sometimes takes attendance and exams are open note and online at home. Take him over anyone, he is the best.
Lukasavitz was Awesome, He does take attendance but going to class is fun. He makes it interesting and explains things in terms that people can understand. His exams are open book, open note so it is valuable to go to class that way you can get notes and everything to use on the exams. Exams are open question and not multiple choice.
Such an amazing professor, really takes the time to make his students feel included and welcomed in the classroom. Homework was relatively easy with the help of in class notes. Makes business law fun and interesting. Take his class!!
Brian is the best professor I have ever had. I have been at UMD for two years, and I am yet to have an instructor to impact me as much as he has. Straight up a life-changing man. Cannot recommend him enough.
Super cool guy, lectures are engaging, he is very understanding and deadlines for homework are super lenient, you can submit late work and still get full points. Exams are all from lecture notes/ the online textbook and are easy if you attend class.
Brian is by far the best professor I have ever had. He is funny and interesting, and he really pushes the idea of learning why you think the way you do rather than just memorizing a bunch of facts. He is an amazing professor and I cannot recommend him enough.
Brian is absolutely hilarious with his examples every class. He is very knowledgeable that everyone doesn't know much about Law so he makes it very fun and engaging. Exams are straight from his examples and the book. One paper, one assignment you have to go to court, and a couple other tiny assignments. A ton of EC. Overall best professor at UMD.
Brian makes the class setting fun and engaging! Might be my favorite proffesor at UMD.
Best professor I have had at UMD.
Great professor he makes most of his lectures pretty interesting
Brain is a great proffesor. He is funny, smart, and teaches very well. His lectures are easy to follow and he makes them as interactive as possible, but in a good way. His class is not too difficult. Just make sure to take good notes for the quizzes, and show up to class. If you do that, you should have an A no problem. Very good proffesor.
My favorite teacher this semester!!! He's amazing!!!!!
While the class at times felt a bit unorganized, Brian was very lenient with grading and gave plenty of opportunity to make up for lost points. The quiz questions can be a bit confusing from time to time, but it's hard to complain with how easy the rest of the class is.
I highly recommend Lukasavitz! Beware of weekly quizzes (not challenging, just have to read and take notes). Some busy work but very doable. Class is engaging and the topics are interesting!
Brian is hilarious, and his lectures are very engaging. There are weekly quizzes, and you do have to do textbook reading, but all the quizzes are open notes and are fairly easy. He also grades participation, so as long as you show up, you should be fine.
Brian is great, his lectures are fun, informative, and applicable. However, Brian's canvas page is a mess, instructions about the final remained unclear until the week before, and he doesn't seem to check his email, so I'd recommend going to his office hours instead. Weekly readings and quizzes with attendance points. Overall a great professor.
Brian was a great professor; you can tell he truly cares about each of his students. There were weekly tests which weren't hard as long as you prepared for them. There were not any tests, but a few papers that were weighted heavily.
My FAVORITE prof I had at UMD. This class was super consistent with a quiz/lecture every tuesday and lecture every thursday which was super helpful. He is hilarious and I actually looked forward to being in lecture. On top of that, he was always helpful with questions I had about assignments and such. Definitely recommend taking his class!
Probably the best professor I've had yet. He is fantastic at his job and is very engaging. He makes boring material genuinely interesting.
He is the best professor I have had at UMD. His office hours are super useful, and you can take the quiz again. I highly recommend him 100%. Take his class!!
Overall a wonderful teacher. He gives students freedom to choose what they want from the class and teaches a difficult subject at a level that makes it manageable. He pays close attention to class morale and adjusts when needed. His humor and real-world experience make lessons engaging. Quiz every week on Friday; easy if you pay attention.
Brian is a fun teacher. He keeps you listening in lectures. One quiz every Monday; do the reading and look at the questions he wants you to think about and you will do great in the class. He is very much an 'Oh Captain, My Captain' teacher. I will definitely not forget him!
