Funny and interesting, even in math. He teaches at a understandable level
great prof very helpful
Doesn't like to answer questions for basic level math courses
best math prof ever
Great Prof. Take him before anyone.
Not the easiest, but certainly the fairest grader. One of the best profs here.
You have to be willing to learn, but not really
No Comments
The best prof i've ever had, great teacher, here to teach and help
No Comments
not at all helpful for entry level courses
Good cribs, easy to study for tests, class attendance not taken, SLEEP
"This is the west point of engineering, and I am your drill seargeant"
He GIVES you cribs! Althought intimidating, he's a very good teacher all around.
This guy is great! Cribs very helpful. He jokes around with the class, too.
Best teacher I've ever had. Very smart and very hilarious.
The best calc prof I have ever had. Great teaching style.
Hard grader

2nd time i've had him & he still rocks!explains concepts very well & gives cribs
A very good teacher, has study sessions that are very worthwhile and helpful.
use his cribs and laugh at his jokes

Best math teacher I've ever had; gives cribs; funny; FROM THE EAST COAST!
Excellent teaching. Very clear.. Gives cribs, sometimes dismisses early
He is the best calc teacher i have ever had, very helpful
Freaking awesome, There are no other KU profs that could do any better.
super smart, cribbable, makes it clear how to apply math to real world
The best math teacher I have ever had. Take him for any math class you can.
Awesome Prof. Tests almost exactly like cribs HE gives you. NY accent!
very smart, great notes, very helpful, learned alot, AWESOME
Crib the tests, he's interesting and smart. Best math prof at KU
Cribbable and good teacher
Explains concepts well and is helpful answering questions.
Awesome teacher, teaches well, cares about students, knows his material, great, get him at all costs
If he likes you you are golden, if not, well grab your ankles. He plays favorites, and will make you drop, even if you can still easily pass, saying... I will fail you even if you pass . Have heard this from multiple students. Very disrespectful!!!
Uses scare tactics to keep you studying/passing...do HW and go to class everyday and it will be the easist math class that you will ever take at KU
he's mean. kicked me out of office before i got to ask a question, plays favorites. i had a 96 in the class so you can get a good grade if you use the cribs but as a person he's a dick
The guy ctually cares about students and shows concern for them(unless your a complete jerk). I've witnessed him tutor students for more than an hour at a time during his free time. Not many if any professors can compare.
I received my highest wag in his BVP class (99) After having smoking Joe and Droolin Dulin I thought I didn't know anything about math - then I took his diffy q class and it was 90 or above ever since. By far the greatest and most personable professors
Kettering's finest professor. Very motivating and interesting to learn from.
By far the best Math prof at the school. If you're not ****ed, and go to at least half your classes, you will not be disappointed. Differential equations are not an easy topic, and if you're forced to learn them, this is the right person to teach you.
He is the greatest math professor @Kettering. I have had him 3 times & he never stops amazing me. He explains topics very thoroughly and relates them all to real world apps. Study the cribs and you will get above a 90%. He is very approachable for help.
Great prof! If you really want to learn this material, this guy will teach it. Very helpful, and demanding. If you aren't a complete **** head you'll do well!
Very smart, cares about the students, and has a sense of humor--a class that i looked foward to going to..oh - he GIVES you cribs--he basically hands you an 'A' if you pay attention. Best teacher ive ever had.
Great lectures. He understands the concepts on all levels and can explain them. Offers cribs of his own tests, so you know what to study. Overall, a great professor who can actually teach!
Great prof, best choice for any math class you can get with him. Mid 90s were never this easy.
Best math profesor I have ever had. Not an easy teacher, but is very smart and knows how to teach. All ME's should take him because you will learn and get a fairly good grade. Very good cribs!!
Outstandig professor. Knows damn near everything about math. Lectures are extremely well organized and clear. I honestly think he could teach grade school kids this stuff. Top notch guy. Oh yeah and he's a Led Zeppelin fan.
This is the best math teacher I ever had. Knows everything about math. I would change my whole schedule around this teacher if he was teaching a math class that I needed to take.
Great Professor. One of the best at Kettering.
Great teacher, best math Prof I had so far.
The best math teacher at Kettering!
Sweet teacher. Know how to do problems exactly like the cribs and you will get a 100 in the class. One of the best math teachers.
Best prof yet. Knows his sh!t. Rewards good test grades. GO 2 STUDY SESSIONS! Held the night B4 the test at the Delts & u could basically only go 2 that & nail the test. Nicest guy. Smart as hell. Can't beat him. Only prof worth a damn at this school
The best professor I've ever had at this school. Could teach calculus to elementary students. Highly, HIGHLY recommended.
Awesome teacher, loves math and teaching it. You actually learn from the cribs.
Excellent teacher. Very smart. You will have to study, but it will pay off. No bad things to say about McCartin. Would take again at any cost.
THE BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. Crystal clear, no curveballs, posts 4+ cribs on the web, w/ work! Very fair, actually cares. Don't skip though, he moves fast! Shows the lazy way of doing problems, though I am the first he met who was more lazy than he.
McCartin is awesome! This was the second time around for me (Had Calc I with him.) and he didn't disappoint. Exams are very similar to the cribs he gives you. Yes, I said "he gives you". Best prof at Kettering. Take him.
You can actually learn from this guy. You have to go to class to pick up the material well. The tests aren't terribly hard and he knows how to teach!
Holy WHOA!! The best Math professor at Kettering!!! Super cribable, helpful, and knows his shizzle. Go talk to him durring office hours. Kettering needs more professors like him.
Awesome professor, an absolute genius. If you can get a class with him, take it. Class isn't altogether hard if you study and stick with the notes. His cribs are your best friend. Awesome guy.
Good Prof. He SCREWED us on the miderm though.
Great teacher. A little crazy, but he's an absolute genius. Take advantage of his cribs, take good notes, and don't say anything bad about the Yankees and you'll great in his class
He screwed us on the midterm but made up for it with the final. Overall he is very clear and the class is easy enough
McCartin is the best prof at the school. He kinda screwed us on the midterm with calculus, but the final was easy. All I did was pay attention in class every day, and study 2 hours before the midterm and the final, and I got a 93. He almost makes me wish I had more math classes to take. Almost.
I had him for Diff EQ. He was awesome. really didn't use notes or book. Just studied examples givin. However, nums different story. Yes Midterm was Bee-itch! Final was also not as striaght forward as the examples normally given. Class average was 85.
Amazing Prof! Highly Recommended! Make math fun and interesting. Actually convinced me that I wanted to be a math major! (he's just that good) ... but then reality set in again - thank goodness!
A FEW WORDS: HE GIVES YOU THE CRIBS... and i had already took Calc in high-school, and i still learned things. He's amazing, ps. go to class before a long holiday (thanksgiving) brownie bonus points. ps. you need more cribs for practice you say? just ask him, he'll happily give. And he's a genius!!!
take for every math class you can. i was in the "screwed midterm" class, but pulled threw just fine. I have never done HW for math in my life, same story here. I have struggle with math, but he makes it simple. Take his tests slow, you'll know it, but dont screw up the algebra and lose points.
The best math professor I've ever had. Makes everything as simple as possible so that you can actually learn. He gives out the cribs and will help in any situation that he can. Take him whenever possible.
God damn. Best prof at the school. It is amazing how I thought math was a waste of time until I took him for Diff Eq. Like someone else said, almost makes you wish you had more math classes to take. I wish more prof's would follow his example. Dude is amazing. Thanks!
Had him for 3 classes! By far the best Math Prof if not the best prof here. Explains very well & is ALWAYS willing to put extra time to help you after class. Easy to talk to. Grades somewhat hard but the test are exactly like the lectures. Even give you crips with answer sheets so you know exactly what to expect. Wish there were more profs like him

the wizard takes most of his test questions from hw problems, and given cribs. gives you a book if you get 100 on a test. highly recomended

this guy is by far the best prof for math at this school. he made calculus enjoyable by actually showing you real world aplications! highly recomend, oh and gives 3-4 previous tests before your exam and i tell yah what a help! also if you have a question no matter how dumb he will help you through it.
gives you cribs for tests that help alot. teaches well
Great teacher, very easy to understand and knows what he's doing. Tests are consitant with what is taught in class and cribs help A LOT. Will be reluctant to help you during office hours if you have not done the hw, but other than that, not bad at all.
One of the best profs at Kettering. Extremely intelligent and willing to help students.
Great prof. Approachable.
Best God damn prof I've ever had. I learned the most, became interested in the subject, understoody why it was important, attended every class, payed attention to every word. First time I was upset to see a class end.
One of the best profs ever! Lectures were easy to learn from and he made it go by quick. Learned a lot!
Great teaching style, relates material to real world, gives homework and cribs very similar to tests.
Without a doubt, the best math professor I have ever had. I would take him for anything you can.
He was such a great teacher that I went back and signed up for a Math elective just to take him again.
This is another professor you should try to take at least once. He is really good at communicating things to his students and wants to see everyone do well. He manages to make math pretty interesting, and tries to relate everything to the real world.
He is decent teacher to learn from, but horrible when grading. He seems to think that flipping a sign is a lot worse than not knowing the steps to solve a problem. Regardless off how well you know the material (and how well you test) you may or may not get a good grade depending on his mood at the time of grading.
Great professor. Explains everything well, relates it all to the real world. Tough grader, but dropped lowest test score because we messed one up pretty bad. Best math teacher I've ever had. Do the homework and study though, cram sessions aren't good enough.
A good professor, he's definately hilarious and teaches pretty clearly. His tests are hard though, and he tends to give little partial credit. If you work hard you can get a good grade, but definately a good professor to take if you want to learn your stuff.
Great prof. Gives cribs which helps! Explains things very well. If you're absent, make sure one of your friends are present so that you can study off of them - new strategy almost everyday! He's not too bad of a grader, but make sure you know ur stuff! Definitely don't be afraid to ask him questions during a test cuz he'll practically help u!!
Better than most of the other stooges in the Math Dept.!
Great prof and really cares about his students. This guy is a genius and knows his criteria better than any math teacher I've ever met. Very funny and you will definitely learn if you take this class.
Probably the best prof for Nums. Gives you cribs for his straighforward midterm and final. MATLAB is key to doing well; don't miss the labs and follow along with him and the projects will be easy. He knows how this class can relate to real engineering work. He is extremely smart. Doesn't take attendance, but by skipping you will miss key info
One of the best math professors at an engineering school. Teaches the material well and relates it so the students know why they are learning it. Always helpful.
By far one of my favorite professors. Very good at teaching, easy to understand. Only 3 tests, which he gave and went over a sample test the day before, so it was hard to do bad on them. I would definatley recommend him!
Awesome teacher, knows his stuff. Wish every teacher was like him. Great sense of humor and very realistic expectations of students.
This i the guy to get for any math class. definately reasonable grades. helps that he gives out answers to exams and the final before the tests. My bro was so pissed that he worked twice as hard as me and got only a couple of points higher. Now he complains about low standars LOL. It isn't like we use this stuff later, that was obviouse.
This professor is absolutely amazing. Honestly, I considered changing to become an AM major just because of him. Has every lesson planned out perfectly, shows you how math applies to the real world, KNOWS HIS STUFF!!! Don't take DIFF EQ until you can have this prof!!
Perhaps the best math prof I've ever had. His lessons are easy to understand and he is a pretty nice guy. His exams are absolutely fair and would not hesitate to take any course he teaches.
A very difficult teacher who I wouldn't recommend. Everything has to be done just right without any margin of error, and it doesn't seem he cares if his students pass or fail.
Very good Prof. Best math teacher in the school. He knows his stuff and how to teach.
McCartin is one of the best professors at Kettering. He prints his cribs out and goes over it with you the day before the test so that you can get at least an 80. He is funny so you wont be extremely bored. The Maple problems you have to do are easy and if you go to class, take all the notes, and study the cribs he goes over in class and you'll pas
GREAT TEACHER! Funny at times. Uses real world examples. Goes over cribs day before tests. Tests are always same questions as crib, just different numbers.
"A very difficult teacher who I wouldn't recommend." Whoever said that.. do you have down syndrome? Seriously this guy could teach calculus to a kindergardener
Awesome prof, awesome guy. Seriously, if you're having trouble with any calc class take a class with this guy...everything makes sense. Gives extra credit points, tests are 'real world' problems, and he ended up dropping our lowest grade. 89 after I failed this class with Kudish.
One of the best profs on campus, if you cant pass with this guy then you cant make it here at KU.
GREAT PROFESSOR! Brilliant man who wants his students to succeed. Can teach Diff. Eq. to anyone! Take him for anything you can!
I previously took a calculus course. I was able to obtain a tenuous grasp of what I had previously learned. It seems like the professor is a bit too qualified for the position of teaching such a relatively bottom-level course. He surprised me at his understanding and extreme knowledge of mathematics in general.
He is one of the best professors I have had at this school. He knows the material and knows how to teach it to every type of student. He is extremely helpful and you will learn what you need to learn and you won't be bored to death. Take him if you can!
Fantastic prof. Does many application problems in class. All around badass, highly recommended.
This professor is the cream of the crop. If you want to learn, and love math then this is the Professor to take. He knows his stuff, and use real world applications. Clear, concise, logical deductions on all processes. Goes over a test extremely similar to the real test a day beforehand. Excellent Course. Going to take him again.
Awesome professor. Lectures are never dull and you leave understanding what you just learned (if you payed attention). Very cribbable, in fact he'll provide you with them even. Always shows real life examples too. He understands we're not math majors which is huge. Take if you can for anything
Best prof I've had in the math department. Actually, makes you understand the material is very helpful. Great being in his class and he does not over exhaust you with homework problems he gives you enough to be able to understand the material.
Awesome Diff Eq professor and by easily the best professor I've had at Kettering. Make the subject interesting by relating it to real people and real life problems and he had a very light hearted vocab. Smartest man I have met.
Overall decent professor, he does well communicating the course material and answering questions in class, but if you fall into trouble with your grade he is very sarcastic and rather unapproachable, he does not enjoy working with struggling students
Lectures are very organized and tests are very similar to practice exams.
Very good teacher, grades difficult but if you do your homework and practice tests you can get an A.
He is very brilliant. He is a tough but fair grader. He is very intimidating at first, but if you do your work and make good grades he becomes less scary. Homework is not mandatory but highly recommended.
Attend class. Study the cribs he gives you and the class is fairly simple.
Awesome professor who is really passionate about the class. Very real life example based questions. The tests can be a little scary, and the cribs tended to be easier than our tests. Tough grader on certain aspects but gives partial credit generously.
Explained everything very well, lectures were long but he did his best to keep them entertaining and funny. I recommend him greatly.
Best Math professor I've had at Kettering. He is hilarious and charismatic but knows how to be serious and stern when needed. Make sure to study or you will fail. Material isn't even that hard and he shows that in his lecture. Highly suggest, you won't regret it.
McCartin is a fantastic teacher. Is hilarious but can be very very intimidating. He students in his course a signed book for each of the top test grades. The tests are VERY hard, but they are just like the crib. Attempt the homework nightly, study the crib with friends the weekend before the test religiously (15 hrs) and you will do very well.
He knows what he is talking, however I had some family problems at the beginning so the first test was a bust. So I worked my butt off and did all the homework, but when I took the second test I mixed up inches and feet. He marked me down 20% for it, which brought from a 98% to a 78%. About a third of my class had to drop it including me.
Prof. McCartin is the best professor at Kettering University. He gives nightly homework which is all you need to prepare for an exam. He grades based on 3 exams and the final. He provides a practice exam which is EXACTLY the same as the exam you will get, simply with different numbers substituted in. Do the practice exams and get easy A. :)
This course is extremely easy. Do the assigned homework. Use the practice exams he provides to study for his tests. Get A.
