I loved this class! I really like to work out and it was incredibly fascinating to discover all of the changes going on in my body. It was tough, especially since I took it in the summer, but Dr. McFarlin grades on a curve and the class is interesting. If you don't understand something, Dr. McFarlin is always willing to meet with you to review.

You have to study to make a good grade. He's very educated and is willing to explain things any time. He grades on a curve, a big curve because the questions are challenging. You can received an A with a 65 average!!! Class average can be around 35!!!

He's really very simple. All of the information he tests over is given to you in ample time. All of it it comprehensible. There's really no reason not to do well in his class. He works very hard to make it easy for his students to understand and do well.

This class rocks, Dr. McFarlin is a really awesome instructor!! If you are a student at UH, you should try to take one of his classes. Computer savvy,records his lectures online. If you ask questions he explains things very thoroughly for you. The curves are good to have since the tests are difficult.

Dr. Mcfarlin is an excellent professor. Very knowledgeable. He is younger and utilizes new technology well (itunes U, learning games, webct). The tests are very hard and are worded in ways that require a very strong grasp on the subject matter. Not an easy A but if you are looking to actually learn, this is a GREAT prof.

Dr. MacFarlin is an excellent profesor, I like the way he set up his lecture outline which make you have to come into class to get the information. The Exam is hard, although if you really study you do fine, and he very great with extra credit too.

Hard class but big curves!

I love the curves because this is a hard class. You can take the quizzes as many times as you want, and there are games on web ct to help you with that.

I think Dr. Mc Farlin knows his material and he tries to help the students as much as possible. He gives big curves and opportunities for extra credit. I love what he did with web ct and all the online lectures and quizzes are helpful when reviewing material.

If you have the opportunity to take any of Dr. McFarlin's classes I would highly recommend it! We weren't required to buy the book, he records all of his lectures and posts them online, and he goes way out of his way to help his students. Not to mention, he's really funny. Though this is a hard class one thing I can say about Dr. McFarlin is he is very helpful.He cares about his students and he never fails to so this especially with his late night reviews on web ct.

I took this class online in Fall of 2008. It was my EASIEST class! Its a weekly quiz. 10 questions and you have two attempts. There are just 3 discussions and his final exam is like the quiz. There is NO textbook, just his lecture slides. It was such an interesting class and the best part was that it was so EASY that you actually enjoy the content.

The professor is really nice. He is teaching in winter of 2008-2009. He is so nice and helpful. Really easy class.

Easy A. Good teacher.

Online course is the EASIEST A YOU WILL EVER GET: 9 quizzes, that you can retake unlimited times until you max the points, 3 easy message board discussions, and an online final you can take twice and count the highest score. No textbook, just a 20 min. video for each lesson and that's it. Hard to retain the info presented, though.

GREAT PROFESSOR! I took him for an online course and passed with flying colors. Easiest A ever!

His lecture classes are definitely not as simple as his online classes. Very helpful teacher. Gives many extra credit opportunities, holds exam reviews via net, and answers questions in a timely manner. IF HE CATCHES YOU CHEATING, POOR YOU! Classes are not mandatory but everything on the tests comes from what HE SAYS DURING LECTURES!

The first few topics were kind of confusing to me. The second half got alot better. I did take the class in the summer, was a little hard because we didn't have as many days according to plan. Overall interesting class, a little difficult though as well.

I thought the class and material were very clear and easy to understand. I took biochemistry prior to taking this class, so this may have helped. The lectures from previous semesters were posted and were almost exactly like the lectures given in class. I was able to have my outline done before I went into class. It's a very interesting class and Dr. Mcfarlin is as informative as he is funny. It's pretty sweet. The tests are freakin' hard, but you'll be alright if you just study a bit. He also gives you tons of resources (old lectures, audio lecture, dragons) to make sure you rock it out.

A pretty cool professor. Looks young, not sure of age. A little cocky and self-absorbed, but I suppose that comes with the territory. On some days the lectures are lengthy, but the class is only 2 hours a day, for a couple of day during the week, thus a handful of weeks during the summer... Bottom line: go for it! This class will make you think. You have to pay attention and ask questions. He didn't use the text book (sum '11). Provided us with a powerpoint of his lecture that we could fill in the blanks. Attendance for the class is not mandatory but you will only be successful on exams if you attend the lectures. He gives extra credits/points but you will definitely have to study hard and work for your grade. He also posts up audios to his lecture so you can use that as reviews for the exams.

He is a fair teacher. Yes his test are hard, but he also has a pretty open schedule when it come meeting with students and helping them out. The prof was very helpful and very knowledgeable on the material. The book was a good reference to some people, but I did fine without it. Attending class is a must since his power point are fill-in-the-blank. The material is a but tough but overall wasn't too bad. I strongly recommend this prof.

For anyone who is interested in exercise science this can be a very enjoyable class. Dr. Mcfarlin has had first hand experience with athletes and how their bodies respond to different levels of exercise which is great because he can site examples for just about everything he teaches.

The exams are pretty tricky. I studied and thought I had everything down and I guess I didn't. Still passed the exam, but not with the expected grade I had hoped for. I took this course online--it was easy. I was a little bit disappointed in the lack of substance and poor grammar in the mandatory discussions, but I had to remind myself that this is a freshman level course. Other than that, plenty of good information to know. If nothing else, take care of your body and well-being.

This was an online only class that is setup for you to succeed. There is absolutely nothing confusing about how this course functions because Dr.McFarlin, and his T.A.'s, have made everything clear in the syllabus. This class isn't easy but it isn't the hardest class you'll ever take. McFarlin is clear about how he tests, questions aren't direct so be prepared for some that might have two answers that could be right. The online portion of the class could be more organized but he is fair about not deducting points. Lectures are recorded and posted online too

McFarlin is a fair teacher. He is more then helpful and gives plenty of ways to get a good grade in his class. The only negative is sometimes he posts assignments late. Other that AWESOME teacher.

Easy online class for people with busy schedules! Quizzes are open all semester, the final is based off the quizzes, and there are three discussions during the semester that require three posts each. Be no means is this an easy class. Lots of time has to be put in to understand the material for each test. It is very helpful that the professor is very approachable. He is open to answering questions and provides many tools to help students. Best advice for doing well in this would be to simply go to class.

The class is NOT easy but it is very informative. Professor McFarlin's exams are very confusing... I studied alot for this class and feel like the things I learned in this class does not reflect my grade.

Tests are not easy but not extremely hard. You really have to know the concepts. He is really helpful if you have any questions. There were 3 tests total, final included. The final was cumulative, but it isn't as hard because you know what to expect from the first and second exams.

Professor communicated with students effectively. Ability to access and obtain response were excellent.

Took him for KIN 1304 and the class is very easy. Make sure you keep up with the assignments and discussions but overall a very easy class and hes a good professor.

Professor is very knowledgable about his course albeit I feel like the exams are intentionally made to confuse students. Average student grades on exams are extremely low, which could be attributed to the exams not being reliable and valid. Exam content sometimes is based on the professor's knowledge of the course, not necessarily the class content

I wouldn't say this class was easy, but Prof. Mcfarlin gives students every opportunity to make an A. Just be prepared to study hard for exams, you really need to know your stuff.

Prof. Mcfarlin is a great teacher.. that being said, his exams are not exactly easy.. BUT if you put forth the effort and take advantage of extra credit options it's very possible to make an A or a B.

2nd online class i have taken from him, and I love it!.. Lessons are very well structured. You will learn a lot and are not rushed with crazy deadlines (helpful for those with busy schedules). I highly recommend him. Easy A if you do the work :)

EASY CLASS. Just don't let everything for the last minute and you will do fine. Also don't forget to post something in the discussion board, doesn't really has to be anything smart. :)

He's never prepared. It's supposed to be half online and half lecture but he never put the online lectures up so we missed out on half the information. It was extremely hard to understand when we only learned half of what he wanted. This isn't an easy class mixed with him being unprepared, it's hard to learn anything.
