Very Cool Guy, Tests are kind of Difficult, fun class

Reasonable and easy going, he does get off the topic often.

He is a great teacher! He makes a very difficult class fun and enjoyable, however you still need to work hard to do well. You should definatly take his class if you get the chance!

Excellent professor, his tests can be a little hard but he gives extra credit questions. Very entertaining, good sense of humor, communicates well, makes the subject interesting, and is knowledgeable. Best professor in the dept. that I have taken.

Like everyone has said, his tests are hard and you must study to do well in this class. He is funny and makes the class much more enjoyable because he has a great sense of humor!

He is a great professor i wish he can teach me all of my biology courses. He has a natural and humours nature about him that makes you learn extra. He does use his first row students as examples in his class i guess that's why i liked it....great teacher and guy...great hair too!!

VERY GOOD PROF! He delivers material well and helps in anyway possible. Very organized and all test information is from the notes you take in class. Very personable and funny too.

It is now 120 hours after our last class session and still...no grades posted. Hard, hard tests. I don't recommed taking him in summer.

Exams are cerebral so you must do more than memorize the information, you must know it well enough to teach it. Brian is very helpful and works to make the class interesting. Excellent instructor and a nice guy.

I had Dr. Mikula for 121 and 122. 121 was my first college course taken and I'd been out of HS for 11 yrs. As said before, he takes an incredibly difficult class and lectures extremely well and adds in a sense of humor to make it a little easier to tolerate. To echo someone else, try to get him for lab as well. You won't regret it.

Milula is funny! He uses students as examples, so if you dont like to participate sit far away. Excellent teaching methods but gets caught up on topics because he talks alot.

Good guy, If you care, then he will care. who ever wrote that neg. remark should grow up. I had him a few classes ago and he is nothing but a class act. Not an easy class but earned!

I had him for both BI 121 and 122. This guy is Hilarious and is fun to learn from. i would recommend fighting for a sopt in his class as he makes it fun to learn and as long as you pay attention and study just his notes, you Will be fine. Also great as a Darth Vader character when you get to T and B cells in Lymphatic system.

He is an excellent teacher! I had him this semester and he makes the learning easy and fun. Great with examples and helping you understand the material. Study the notes and attend class and you'll do just fine. I highly recommend him!

Dr Mikula is awesome and, much like a Gallagher show, don't sit in the first row if you don't want to be part of the act :) He brings humorous metaphor to teach the material. He does NOT dumb it down either. In fact, if you want an "easy" prof, he isn't it. He actually gave us addendums to the lists of things to memorize. I wish he was teaching 122

Very good teacher. I highly recommend him. He keeps class interesting and fun. The only grades are tests and there are 4 of them. They are pretty easy if you study all of the notes. It's an easy class if you're actually willing to put the time into studying.

Dr. Mikula was one of the best teachers I have ever had in college. He was very helpful, kept students interested and tests were always from the notes, got an A, but I did study for it. I cant wait to take him next semester for the second half!

He was great i took over the summer and studied my tail off and got a A. This is a hard class do not take in summer unless you have alot of time to study or already know the subject.

Had him for 121 lecture. Nice guy, but I found his examples drawn out. He didn't keep the class under control too well, idiots allowed to make comments that drew the class off topic. His note guidelines were not that easy to follow. Somehow got the info in there, studied hard and got an A.

A nice guy, can get off topic sometimes but he is a good teacher. His class consists of writing most of the time what he says but if you study you should do fine in his class

I took him for BI 122, and got an A. I am glad I took him for this class he is a Doctor and his lecture style is more similar to the professors at GVSU, so if your planning to transfer take him. You will want to use your labtop to fill in his outline notes because he covers topics quickly. Read the book.

I LOVED Mikula. He made class so intriguing. He would act out whatever we were learning to make it stick into our heads. He was very clear on the notes. His study guides were not helpful, but if you just study the notes you will do well. Tests are pretty tough and he expects a lot from you.

Wonderful professor. Really knows his material and is very helpful. He has a good outline for his notes and gives you all of the information you need for the test. Be sure to show up and take good notes, otherwise it will be hard to pass. I highly recommend this professor.

Dr. Mikula is a great prof. He is hilarious and really knows his stuff. He is a chiropractor and quite active. His personality makes his teaching style great for learning, he's energetic, yet laid back. He has a way of explaining things that is easy to understand and remember. He has note outlines to take organized, easy to follow notes. Take him!

No matter what professor you get for A&P, it will be tough. I would say Mikula is one of the easier professors for A&P. He is very straightforward and basically gives you everything you need for the test. PRINT out his lecture notes and write/type the notes during lecture. Study guides help too.

Took this class a year ago and I thought he was a great professor and pretty funny also. Kept class interesting and would always talk to us at the beginning of class about The Walking Dead. Print out the lecture notes, pay attention and study however much you need and you should do fine.

I loved this professor! None of his lectures were boring at all. He always tried to involve the students to show certain processes taking place in the body. His lecture outline notes are so clear cut and shows exactly what you need to know and he follows them to a T during lectures. Highly recommend.

Super smart and engaging teacher. He knows his stuff, however he can grade hard. Only four tests, no homework. You wont be bored in this class

He's not a boring teacher, he's interesting and friendly. He's a very smart guy. There is NO HOMEWORK throughout the class but the tests are HARD. He grades hard and goes though the material super fast! It was way too fast paced for me, he'd start new material before taking a test on old material. You can easily get away without the textbook

Had him for BI122 lab. He is very knowledgeable and approachable. He talks really fast, and sometimes it's hard to keep up. He was great for a lab prof, I've heard his lectures are tough because he goes through material quickly there too. But if you study and pay attention, you'll pass.

The tests are straight from the notes. I realized after having him for 121 and getting a B that in order to receive that A you really needed to know your notes inside and out. Tests straight out of the notes. If you miss one day good luck passing unless you trust someone elses notes. I enjoyed his humor and talking about TWD and Star Wars.

Amazing professor, lectures are long but does well utilizing humor to break up the monotony. Also uses lecture time to point out some relevant correlations which will help you in your lab portion.

He involves the class with humor while explaining the topic(s) at hand. If he sees someone losing interest he is very good at getting them back in. His class is 1.5 hours long, and I don't feel the need for an intermission like with the last Prof.

Amazing teacher, the course itself is so hard. But this teacher truly cares about his students and their futures, he even reaches out to students who are struggling with the course content.

Mikula is an awesome guy. Super smart and passionate about what he teaches. Definitely helps that hes a hottie! Hes pretty goofy too and keeps you engaged with his stories. A lot of info in 7 weeks, but he did his best!

Professor Mikula is an amazing professor, he gives you feedback on your tests, is willing to answer questions and does an amazing job of making things a little easier to understand while still remembering the bigger picture. He also has a great sense of humor that makes class very enjoyable.

Mikuka was such a great professor. His tests were pretty hard, though. When he says, "know your notes", he means it. Just make sure to write down everything he says - even if it's not in the outline for the notes - and you should be fine.

Professor Mikula is amazing. The course is tough. But, like he says, "know your notes". He creates a very comfortable learning environment and is VERY understanding and caring. He is always able to explain things multiple ways to flow with different learning types. He allows feedback after tests on questions, etc. and helpfully gives it as well.

Good guy with a great sense of humor. He really tries to make lecture fun for his students and there was only one homework assignment the whole class (which is awesome if you're someone who hates homework like me).

I had Mikula for Bio 121 lab and would take it again with him if I could! Was willing to go over the test after it was done via zoom for feedback. As long as you know what is on the SPO's you will be good. Find a good Quizlet and study it until you know it front to back. Use the writing option and get to know it that way.

Currently have Dr Mikula for BI 121 lecture and he is hands down my favorite professor. His lectures are easy to pay attention to because he's very interactive and upbeat. This class is very note heavy though, so if you miss a day, you're missing out on a lot of notes. He even helps us with stuff in lab. Will be taking BI 122 with him.

As long as you study the Student Performance Objectives, you will do well in this class. Mikula only includes information from the objectives on his exams and makes sure to cover each topic in class. He does go over some concepts quickly, but if you ask him to go over it again he gladly will. I appreciate the online videos he has as resources too.

Mikula's lectures can be fast-paced, but engaging if you stay focused. The exams are challenging, so be sure to use the textbook and take good notes. I found Unstuckstudy and study groups really helpful for preparing. Overall, a tough but rewarding course.
