Dr Moore is an incredibly caring and clear instructor. We covered graduate level material, and he ensured that it was presented as intelligibly as possible, and repeatedly covered important topics. He was always available for questions at office hours, and held review sessions for his material (co-taught class). Tests were fair and reasonable.

Despite the depth he goes into on plants, his lectures are very good. He's also really funny! He makes really clear study guides and his exam questions are straightforward. He does his best to help everyone understand. No textbook required.

Although the topics he covers in this class tend to be dull, and difficult, Dr. Moore really cares about his students and is probably the most thorough and clear lecturer I've had. No tricks up his sleeve, he teaches you what you need to know, and tests fairly. Highly recommend.

His lectures were so easy to follow and he presented information so that you knew exactly what you would need to know. At the beginning of each lecture, he would review the key points from the previous lecture which really helped me make sure I understood everything before we moved on. His tests were easy as long as you know the material.

You can really tell how much Brian cares about his students by how he teaches in class,k and goes out of his way outside of class to make sure all his students have all the information they need to succeed. I think if I had taken this class with anyone else, I would have not liked it at all, but somehow he made it interesting.

His study guides are everything!! He is so kind as to compress all his lectures into 6 pages of a study guide, where they are actually notes and NOT questions that don't have answers that you have to fill in! You can easily see he cares about his students and he honestly tries his best to make plants really clear and easy. Take him if you can!!!!!!

Phylogenetics is one of the hottest and the most difficult area of science in the world. Brian provides the world-class well-organized lecture even it is difficult concept. I am so happy that I had an opportunity to take his class!!

Brian Moore is my phylogenetic sherpa through the mountains of parsimony. He's a dad-joke telling, birkenstock-wearing amazing human who kickstarted my love of plants. His study guides were comprehensive, his lectures were hilarious, and even though this course is tough, his reviews at the beginning of lecture made it all easier. An icon.

His lectures had a lot of slides, but that was intentional as he used them as a guide to explain his thinking. He's a nice guy, though sometimes a little arrogant.

One of the best professors I've had at UCD. Great guy, really cares about what we learn and has a great taste in music. Learning plant phylogeny is a mammoth task but I can't believe I had a lot of fun learning how plants evolved.

He was pretty funny and taught the information pretty well. There's a lot of information to learn in BIS2C but I definitely thought he taught it well and didn't make it feel like we were learning too much at a time. Also the tests were very straightforward. You just need to review his study guide and understand the main facts/points.

I loved Prof. Moore! Bio isn't my favorite subject, but he was able to take something I didn't care about and make it interesting. He's so caring and kind to his students, and has really great resources for his students--he really wants you to do well! Make use of his OH--they're really great!

BIS2C is a terrible class. I cannot believe that it is required for so many students, considering the material taught. However, there could not be a better instructor to teach it than Professor Moore. Although plants are a very dry and uninteresting topic, Moore taught it well and with passion. The other reviews are not wrong. Take him.

1/3 professors in Spring 2021 and taught the phylogeny and plants units. Lots of material condensed very well. Averages are very high which is fine since a point base system is used. Lots of extra materials provided for you to succeed. If you have the chance to take his class, take him.

A class where you actually enjoy the learning!! I really enjoyed the lecture style with embedded questions that made a difference. Professor Moore was one of three in BIS2C. I enjoyed his lectures, very content heavy as we covered plants, so I found his section difficult. Professor Moore had great energy and was very encouraging! Provided a lot of study resources.

The material of the course is beyond interesting and presented in a clear way. The course is fun and never gets dull but it does require a fair bit of effort studying to pass. They provided good study guides, thoroughly answered questions, and held review sessions before exams, but ultimately what you put in, you get out.

One of the best professors I had in Davis, he clearly cares about his students. He wants everyone to succeed in his class and provides a lot of extra material for us to review for the midterms and final. I'm not a bio related major, but this professor is very good. Really concise lectures, cares about his students succeeding as he provides various resources for upcoming midterms/final exams, and even a short 18 min video covering all his material for final exam. There's a lot of material for this course to know, but he really knows how to condense.

I didn't like Professor Moore initially because his lecture slides were over 100+ slides, but I realized that he really cares about all his students and wants as many of them to earn an A. He provides many resources for the midterms and the final. His review videos are concise and cover precisely what you need to know for exams.

Such a caring and wonderful professor, with a great sense of humor and super entertaining slides. Bis2C is heavily based on memorization, but Professor Moore created very transparent study guides that were pretty much the only thing you needed to study for exams. His slides were so silly and fun, which made my day multiple times.

Incredibly kind, fun professor who had helpful animations in lecture + very clear study guides. He made a very streamlined video for his part of the final covering the ENTIRE year's worth of content. Tests were all MCQ and straightforward as long as you followed his advice/guides. Very doable class even tho I forgot most of my bio from high school

Fun class definitely my favorite out of the whole BIS 2 series, great professor with cool informative lectures. Exams are super chill just do the study guides, KEEP UP ON MATERIAL, don't cram the material rather learn it on pace with the class. Awesome Professor. I wasn't much into phylogenies and trees but he made me more interested. Definitely a Badly Structured Course Syllabus though. Lab Practical Final for me was same week as Final Exam, and if you miss a prelab you get a 0 for both prelab and postlab. However, as a professor he is truly the GOAT for BIS002C.

I have never had a professor as amazing as Brian. He was the sweetest guy, so funny, gave everyone extra credit and so caring. His tests are so easy its almost scary. You get a notecard 3x5 front and back for all exams except lab practical. His review videos are so clear and he goes over literally everything you need to know in 10 mins. Love him!

i rlly wish i couldve done better in this class and studied more and actually went to lectures, did not know how good of a professor he was until i check back on rmp and hes the only person ik to this day with a 5/5 avg. the class itself id say is tough and lots of memorizing but he makes it easier with the practice material for exams
