Brian is very disorganized. He loves to talk yet his explanations only seem to be the same two-three sentences repeated over and over. If you ask for help he might just give you the answer but he doesn't change his explanation to try and make you understand. Also his powerpoint are messy, very back and forth not planned.

Lots of writings, but you will improved your thinking and writing ability. Plus Brian gives feedback so you can do better on the next assignment. Always an interesting class. This is one of those class where when you get a good mark, it's because you worked hard for it and earned it.

Brian is an intelligent professor. I retook YKC100 a second time after finishing with only a C (that was my fault, of course). But then when I retook the course, I've found myself engaging in the content and actually wanting to do more. He expects the best out of you and will not hesitate to push you to your boundaries on how to critically think.

I have taken two-semester with the hopes to get at least a B, but as far I was no Japanese I fail and he gave me only C. the high score of him is C unless you are his favorite or from Japan. The Seneca liberal art faculty are aware of the situation, but they can't take any decision against him. this is the systematic filtration of nonwhites.

Not recommended for this prof, he just copy the lecture of reading from Google and give it to student to read yourself, a lot words no images. Hard test, assignment and grading even if you do good at it. Awful, terrible and horrible class.

He is such a tough grader, I just fulfilled all of his expectations, but it gave me null all the time. Even if I spent more than 3 days completing just one assignment. I wouldn't recommend his lecture. he didn't even know why he gave me this score just didn't evaluate me fairly.

I think he was pretty cool and chill. He naturally re-explains things so as a course that can get confusing, it helps a lot that he reiterates and re-explains things. That's usually a negative but because this course is naturally confusing for no reason, it helps. Would be more than happy to take his classes again.

DO NOT TAKE IT Brian Nakata is an awful professor, he's a hard grader and treats everyone with such disrespect. He likes to make you feel stupid and know that you're not. The course material is over the top for such an elective as well it makes no sense to me. I felt like I had to focus more on this course rather than the actual program at hand.

Brian prepares his own teaching materials, esp. those detailed ppts really help! His explanations are clear, and his ability to break down complex concepts into easy-to-understand bits is impressive. He genuinely cares about his students and goes above and beyond to help them succeed. Best instructor I have ever had and appreciate his dedication.

Spiteful, inconsiderate and disrespectful. He always drags his classes and I never once knew what he was talking about. In this world there are people who were never supposed to teach and he is one of them. His lectures are always boring and long. He has a bad attitude with students and he should be fired. I regret ever taking him.

He tries his best to explain everything perfectly. His in class assignments are important, but online quiz SAVE your grade, so do your best in them.

When I saw this I was perplexed since I did not have the same experience and I can speak for most. This professor needs to evaluate himself. He is the worst professor that I had to take for the course. There has not been a professor that is worse than him. Just bad. He thinks he knows everything and yet he doesn't. Worst character that has existed.

I honestly will never take this professor. The way he marks goes against the teachings he has. He is absolutely the worst professor out there. He thinks he knows what he teaches when in fact he doesn't and just went ahead to be made a teacher by the school even with the very many complaints in the platform. You need to teach something else honestly

He's okay. It's a difficult course, if u miss one class ur behind. Tough grader but he makes it clear what he expects from u, if ur good at abstract reasoning/formulas you'll probably be fine, but i'm not. Do the weekly exercises, it helps. NO extra credit, no assignments (except online quizzes), no textbook (he posts photos of the readings).

This professor made the course way harder than it needed to be. I studied extremely hard for the final and felt confident, only to fail the class. I had him for YKC100 and took him again for 200, I think he's a solid professor and I learned valuable things. He is more forgiving than it may appear. He is really organized and clear about what the lectures will be, and what the tests/quizzes will have. For exams he gives a layout, sometimes a mock exam. Put in a consistent effort and you're fine

This was my last course with him and his teachings shaped my thinking today. YKC200 is the most difficult and "ultimate" of all the philosophy courses here. While he doesn't make it easy, having taken two previous courses with him helps you understand where his teaching style comes from and that he expects coherence and clarity in your answers.
