He is the best teacher alive!! I had him for EN 101 and 102!! He's a pretty easy grader when it comes to papers. You'd have to try really, really hard to a C or below. I'd recommend him for any English class!

Brain Oliu is the man. English is one of my worst subjects especially if it's early in the morning, but because of his fun and entertaining teaching style i loved going to class! Writing papers wasn't bad because the topics he chose were interesting and sometimes hilarious! He will easily become your new favorite teacher!

Brian Oliu is a wonderful teacher. I had him in the summer and he was really cool about everything. I never enjoyed writing, but with this class he was cool with seeing what you had to say in yuor writings not if they were against his opinion. AWESOME TEACHER

Take this teacher for 101. You DO have to do a lot of work in this class (5 papers, revision, and you have to keep a journal all semester), but if you put noticeable effort into your papers you will make a good grade. Take all your papers to the writing center. You will receive 5 extra points if you go.

Brian Oliu is an excellent teacher. He changed the class from Creative Writing to Creative just so we could explore everything.. the class was amazing. I definitely recommend him to everyone!

Great teacher who knows what freshmen have to deal with. the assignments are always fun to do and not your ordinary English paper. You find yourself enjoying writing on most of the topics he gives.

Brian is great. He choses interesting and fun writing topics. Not a hard class at all. He expects you to turn in good papers because he gives you ample time (at least two weeks) to complete assignments. Gives bonus points for going to Writing Center. Class is energetic and group discussion oriented. Take this guy!!!!He's amazing!

Brian Oliu is the most hilarious guy you will ever meet. His class is like a treat among mostly boring lecture classes. He will keep you constantly entertained, and I can honestly say that he is my favorite teacher EVER. TAKE HIM! You will have a slight crush on him by the end of the semester.

By far the best english teach i have ever had. This guy is absolutely hilarious. He keeps your attention in class and assigns pretty interesting paper assignments - even tho the word count is pretty high. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Brian is GREAT! He is interested in hearing what students have to say on the topics discussed in class. Has tendency to cancel class when papers are due. He's very entertaining and his jokes are cheesy sometimes, but he in general, is funny! always open to helping if something is unclear. highly recommended! best english teacher i've EVER had!!!!!!

Brian is absolutely amazing! He gives genuine criticism on your assignments, helping you to grow as a writer. There was never a dull moment in our class, and I ended up learning more about myself not only as a writer but as a person in this class. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Brian's great! His paper topics aren't too terrible, and he's eager to help. He's hilarious and has some great stories to share, including one about Michael Phelps. Only one word really sums up Brian----GAGA ;)

Brian is AWESOME. I really don't like english at all, but his class was so interesting. He spends most of it telling stories and talking about our lives. He actually cares about his students and helping their writing improve. I highly recommend him. BEST teacher I've EVER had!

Brian is an awesome teacher! He grades easy on papers which, are his only assignments. Although he never says that you can miss class, we don't really do anything in the class, and when we do it's a fun topic. Take from him if you want to hear about what Kanye just wrote on Twitter, his opinion on the next football season, or just be entertained.

this is the best class! great class discussions. I always look forward to this class. Also great class for first semester during football because half the class we spend talking about the games.

We did not use our book at all. He was very helpful in critiques and showing how a paper should read.

Never took attendance, only grades were 6 papers written, and if you finish your paper early and email it to him, he will give feedback. Gives 5+ bonus points for going to the Writing Center. We only talked about football and food and never really did anything in class! Young fresh out of school so he easily relates to us

Brian is a really cool, funny guy and a very helpful teacher. All we did was talk about food and football. You get +5 points on every paper if you take it to the writing center (I never did this, but I wish I had).

He is a great teacher. This is the 'easy A' class that everyone hopes for! As long as you turn in paper assignments you are fine. Class is not mandatory and when I do go to class, we never really do much more than go over papers or browse the internet.

I hate english yet he made me love 102! Very fun and engaging to the class talks about football food and anything music. He makes you want to go to class to see what new jumpsuit he will wear. Also he is a great teacher. You will really learn. Good grader and willing to help. Easy essays as well. MUST TAKE.

Oliu is a good Comp teacher. He pretty much gives you your assignments and lets you loose. He doesn't waste your time, which I feel like a lot of comp teachers do. He is always available for help, and will work with you where you need help. Cancels class a good bit if you do not have any new assignments.

This class is easy if you try your best. He's very open to different styles of writing as well as their level. He'll give good feedback and the writing topics are fairly easy and simple. I enjoyed this class a lot, actually. No bonus or anything, so do all of your assignments!

I took this class online and it was pretty good and easy. I think going to class on campus for creative writing would be more informative. There was no real structure. Just write which Is okay, I guess. Not bad but not great.

Take his class even if it's at 8. I promise it is so worth it. He's so funny and let's you out early most days. He really cares about his students and encourages you to email him with any concerns. I'm going to miss this class.

Understands this can be an extremely boring subject to some students but adds his own humor in to keep people engaged. Very easy A if you simply read (or know summaries) of assigned readings since there is a quiz every class. The quizzes are easy if you know the piece and always offers an extra credit question.

The material is boring but Professor Oliu does a great job of trying to relate it to students. He's really helpful and wants everyone to do well. It's a lot of reading, but the quizzes are easy and he goes over everything to help us. Also he's hilarious!!

Oliu is a great professor and wants you to pass no and doesn't give any pointless assignments. He's funny and always tries to relate things back to the students and makes the workload very manageable and he lets out early almost every class! Overall a 10/10 guy and knows what he's doing.

Really nice, really easy class, brings food, only wrote three papers, will help you outside of class, will change assignment due dates if brought up in class, is really helpful when the internet isn't working (just send him a screenshot of your computer) he obviously loves what he does and really tries to work with students so you succeed

His laid back yet caring teacher style fostered an environment in which every student felt comfortable writing introspective pieces of work without fear of judgement or disapproval. Furthermore, I believe every freshman student should have to take his class, as it has fostered the growth and self awareness of not only myself but my peers as well.

I love him. Always responds to emails, if you need help on anything he will help with whatever. Always has the best jackets on. By far best professor at UA for English.

So funny, assignments arent bad at all, if you show up youll pass, keeps class interesting, took class for a walk around campus and tried to buy everyone donuts. you will get enjoyment out of his many track jackets. 10/10

He really makes class interesting by using tons of pop culture references and talking about authors that are still alive and writing today. So engaging and funny- would definitely recommend!

Mr. Oliu is a great professor. He goes into a lot of detail about the authors during his lectures but keeps it interesting. He gives quizzes on the readings every class for a participation grade, but I passed them by reading the spark notes. We went on a walk around campus one day when it was nice out and he told us fun facts about campus.

Please take this class. He's genuinely caring and hilarious. You have daily quizzes but they are ridiculously easy and summaries on spark notes will give you all you need to know for them. You show up to class and you will get an A. Three papers & three tests in the semester, and he gives the questions before. Great class & an all around great guy!

Even if its an 8am, I really recommend taking him! Hes so funny and genuine and it is a very easy class. He wants all of his students to succeed and he doesnt give boring writing prompts. You can actually be creative with your writing, he gives out a lot of extra credit, we never needed a book, and had very few assignments.

I LOVED Brian. He was so funny, an easy grader, and genuinely cared about my writing. He was awesome to talk to outside of class, and was always there to help. He does give daily attendance points, but I honestly enjoyed going to his class anyways. Definitely would recommend for any English class, not just 101.

This semester with Brian was cut short due to COVID-19 and I couldnt be more upset. He is one of my favorite teachers I have had at UA so far. He is so nice and personable! There are in class quizzes based off of the readings from the textbook along with three open note tests and three essays. I really enjoyed this class. Easy A if you do the work

Brian Oliu is great. He is a super likable guy and relates well to his students. The class itself is very easy. Tests are online, and he tells you the questions in advance. You have to go to class and take a quiz on the readings to get daily points, but the quizzes are straightforward, and you can find all of the answers on Sparknotes.

Awesome professor and person. Super accessible if you need to meet with him outside of class because he truly cares about his students. Doesn't take attendance but I never missed a class because I genuinely enjoyed going every week. Easy and fair grader with a daily assignment to complete before class and only 3 essays and 3 take home exams.

He is such a great guy it made me want to get up at 8:00am. We didn't do much work but he grades very easily and is very flexible.

Prof Oliu is a gem in the english department. He's so caring and really wants you to do well. He's very accessible and as long as you attend class, you'll pass his class. His theme is usually very interesting too! Worth it to take him even at 8am!
