he uses examples that everyone can understand. its not that tough

uses TONS of real life examples that people can relate to, yet inexperienced

knows what he's talking about and uses many examples, helpful if you ask for it

Good lectures, tests are moderately difficult, but easy if you have paid attention in class, reviewed your notes, and read the chapters. Gives the opportunity for extra credit.

great professor. Can even call him at home for help.. shows the Simpsons in class for examples. You will have to work...tests are hard. But good grades are do-able and the class is very interesting!

This guy is a great teacher. Explains everything very clearly and makes it all so easy to understand. A little arrogant, but its funny to watch.

He's a good teacher, Macro is just a HARD class. He makes it as easy as possible, and that's still not that easy. Better than most other Econ teachers though.

SO EASY...I don't know what some of the other raters are talking about!!! O'Roark is extremely helpful to students who want it. Go to class, take good notes, and study. You don't have to be an Econ Superstar to get an A. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!

Simply put, O'Roark is the apotheosis of economic brilliance. People that fail to pay attention in class or suffer from poor attendance will not do well. An A is possible.

Great professor, very enthusiastic and interesting. Take this as an honors class if you're in the program...well worth it. Study the graphs and your algebra...no calcs. allowed on the test

Really nice teacher, but tests are tough. Make sure to take notes and read from the textbook. Watch out for pop quizzes. Does not curve, but there are some extra credit opportunities. Macro is hard in general, but he is easy to understand.

The best teacher I've had at JMU. He's fun and uses different techniques to convey the material. Yes the tests are hard but you learn so much. I would highly recommend Professor O'Roark.

Test are very hard unless you spend A LOT of time studying. A lot of information, but it is very straight forward. Teaches from his head, not from the book, and classes consist entirely of taking notes. Very nice guy overall.

Best teacher I've ever had. Loves to teach and makes you want to learn. You will look foward to going to class. You really need to study for the tests but the quizzes are automatic 100's. Great guy, great class.

the BEST teacher i've had during my 3 semesters here, he is the definition of a good teacher ... the materical of macro is hard .. but his notes are so easy to follow ... i was strugglin to get a B but i prob got a C ... i dunno .. i still reccommend him

Awesome teacher. Teaches from memory and not the book and keeps you really interested. Uses really good examples to get the point across and has a good sense of humor. You'll watch an episode or two of the Simpsons as well. Study lots for the tests.

He is a good talker but he is definitely VERY biased in his political views and so is his textbook. He often states opinion as fact, but whether you agree with him or not he likes you to pretty much just regurgitate what he lectured on for exams.not hard

Great class, he knows what he's doing. The work can be difficult and hard to understand at times. Do not try to bs him, it will not work. Go to class, he makes it worth your time.

As a non-business major, I found this course to be difficult. His lectures are really pretty scattered, seems like nice enough of a guy. Tests, as well as the subject matter are generally difficult.

He definitely made this class interesting, and I was really not looking forward to this class. He got us involved, and is a very good speaker, and I enjoy not staring at a powerpoint all day.

Knows what he is doing, makes the class fun and the material interesting. If you just try you will have no problems in his class.

O'Roark is a good teacher, his class is interesting and I like the way it is taught. His tests are tricky though, and I tend to missunderstand some of the questions. All in all he is a good teacher and I enjoy his class.

Awesome teacher. Very intellegent, but ALSO knows how to teach - not just on of those geniuses that can't convey information. When writing papers DO NOT use conjunctions, you'll get burned. Really great class though. He makes it interesting.

Okay class. Need to go to every class and have a good understanding to do well.. Quite impossible to get an A, high B, unless you have a love for the subject. You HAVE TO GO to class. I'm sure there are easier teachers, but really nice and helpful guy.

Very solid explanations. Good use of team teaching with Dr. Wood. Definitely need to review slides before class. Makes understanding of the concepts much easier.

GREAT instructor, very flexible and personable, assignments were thought-provoking but reasonable. I never thought I would enjoy economics, but he made the class very interesting and worthwhile. The course materials were excellent.

He is one of the best professors I have had yet in the JMU MBA program. The workload was fair and challenging, but he is an extremely fair grader. The final exam was surprisingly easy to take, but that comes from doing the problem sets each week.
