He is very knowledgeable and teaches via powerpoint presentation. The only complaint I have is that his test questions are difficult to understand (too complicated). Make sure you write down all the notes, all of the information comes from the notes. You will have to refer to the book for clarity, the information is difficult.
He was a Power Point Teacher, he knows how teacher without truely knowing the material
He teaches using power point which is great cuz then you don't have to read the book and all it's fluffy stuff. ALthough you will prob need then book if you need more info. He's got a dry sense of humor.. but at least he tries. I liked him as a teacher. Just study his notes and you'll be fine.
He is a great teacher. He is always available to help his students. His tests are from his notes. Study his notes and you'll do well. he only talks a lot
He's a great person but has a lot to learn about his students and the student teacher relationship. He can very unclear at times, and his test so far, are very challenging. Needs to find a balance.
He's a nice person- but as far as being a teacher he has alot to learn. His exam questions are difficult to understand, and his tests are hard in general. He is always availible for questions, but his answers are not always clear. The tests come from his notes, but there is SO much info. you just never know what to expect.
As others stated, he's still learning to teach. I thought he was good, except for the fact that he really really really likes to hear himself talk. Don't expect to leave from class early, or even start late. He's right on time with everything, so be careful and try to get to class on time. Other than that, I enjoyed his teaching.
I loved his class. If you study his powerpoint handouts, it's an A. I got an A with no more hours I put in other core courses. He also gave us regular quizzes which helps to keep you up to speed with my reading. He is clear, with no street languange nor incorrect English that most people speak. Only thing, the course material was not completed.
Brian is a great person and willing to help you outside of class. HIs tests/exams however are very challenging and not easy. You definitely have to study for this class, everything is right from the textbook.
great teacher. His tests come from his lectures, but read the chapters to follow along.many quizzes(lab&lecture) helps to improve grade. makes u write papers which r no fun.ADORABLE
good teacher
He is a really good techer and his tests are easy. Just make sure to attend his classes and study your notes -> easy A He wants you to do well
Great teacher, tries to focus on functional understanding instead of memorizing a bunch of facts. Wants his students to do well. Has regular short quizzes and handouts to help you stay on track.
If you have a good Anatomy and Physiology background, you will do fine in his class. Otherwise, do not expect a good grade. Your record means a lot to you, so drop the class if the result could end with a D or F. Not recommended especially for BIO 110. Seek for Dr. Butte.
Prof Renna is one of the best teachers i have ever had. anyone who has taken 109 knows how difficult a and p can be. he is such a good teacher he almost makes it seem easy. fair grader, totally prepares the class for exams, and gives extra credit. wish all my profs were this great.
Why people keep on rating this professor high? People drop his class whenever they know this is the teacher. But if you have had him since bio 106 you might rate him high since you know how his tests are
He is good and he loves teaching. Fair grade + extra credits, I think he is awsome and also labs are pretty fan. If you take him you won't regret.
Mr Renna is a good teacher. He is very helpful when you go to him for help. Usually take his test from his powerpoint presentations. The negative was that he tried to cram a bunch of material in at the end of the semester... Be prepared to study hard it is a lot of info! Fair grader! I would take him again.
this teaher has a good way of teaching and presenting bio class!! buttt he makes the tests very difficult to understand and some wat tricky..
Brian is great! He gives you his lecture slides, designs crossword puzzles to help you quiz yourself, & focuses on what's actually important. You'll have to study & read on your own (it is A&P, which is tricky), but you won't be memorizing useless stuff just for a test. Little bit dorky, but fun & nice.
His class rocks!!
I had him for 109 and worked my ass off. It was not easy but he was fair in his grading and what he expected of you. I wish i had taken him for 110 (don't take D'anjou!!!!!).
Very nice guy and extremely knowledgeable! Willing to help you understand the material. He explains everything thoroughly but the questions on his tests seem designed to trip you up and make you think! His only downfall .... He talks ALOT!
Dr. Renna is a great teacher he is interesting and you really learn alot. highly recommend taking him for any Biology course.
Super cool guy. He is def not an easy teacher, but hey this isn't high school anymore.
WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD!!! please do yourself a favor and dont take this man. he is so unhelpful. ive sent him emails sentences long, and he responds with one sentence. he gives you so much information to study and then puts two things on the test. we have 3 tests coming up, in a matter of 2 weeks. do your self a HUGE favor and stay far away!
Dr.Renna is a very funny sweet guy, he is helpful and he works with you, I plan on taking him for Bio 110
I think Brian is great! He exhibits passion for the material, he is helpful when you have a question and he's pretty cute :)
Good professor I just couldn't keep up with all that he taught. Tries his best to throughly explain material.
I have an interest in the subject and I'm on tract for my BSN, however, even if you dont need to take the class, you should. He took away the fear of taking a&p. Sometimes he was too easy on us. But the class was great...he's goofy and cute and EXTREMELY helpful if you need it...also very patient.
i had him 3 smesters ago, i took Butte for 110 and after taking all the required science classes for nursing i wish i had Brian for all of them. I like his style, he is thorough and follows the book. I learned the most in his class. I think he is the best bio teacher plus he is cute. Work your ass off and earn an A, simple as that!
He is super AWESOME!!! He is very thorough and explains everything. He's so nice. Totally approahable and ALWAYS willing to help. He's a really great professor. You do have to study because his questions are application! He knows his stuff and does a great job explaining it. I would take him again! btw... Totally hot ~_^ too bad hes married.
Before attending his class, I didn't have any interest in Anatomy and Physiology. Yet, the way he explained the subject made me see and understand A&P on a differently, he kept it simple. I couldn't wait to get to class just to listen to his lecture and lab. I highly recommend this progessor to anyone who is anatomiphobic.
Dr. Renna is very knowledgeable and tries very hard to present class material in a logical way. The tests are not easy but if you study and pay attention in lecture, you will do well. What I like the most about him is that you can tell he is constantly making sure that you understand what's been taught. He does everything he can to help you.
He's an AWESOME teacher! I'm an accounting major and had to make up this class because I failed it the first time around and I got an A! It was a lot of hard work and his test are a little hard but he's very fair and does an excellent job on preparing you for EVERYTHING that's on the tests! He almost makes me wanna change my major...almost!
Professor Renna is a great professor. He is very helpful to his students and he organizes his classroom(labe & lecture) well. His work is not too hard. Reading his powerpoing point handout and other handouts will assist you in completing the course with a good grade. Although I prefer A's in my classes, I am close to a B or C, based on my work.
Dr. Renna is a great professor. He is very passionate about teaching and he will try his best to help you understand the material. You have to work in order to pass his class though, just like any other science class. But he will help you by giving lots of extra credit! Good luck!!
He is the best teacher ever i took. everything is on the notes. the class is fun but is necesary to study the notes a lot of extra credit. He is hot and really nice. Best teacher ever.
He is a great teacher who really loves teaching. He makes learning A and P fun!
Best science teacher I ever had. Science was my worst subject and now I realize it wasn't me that sucks at science, it was the teacher I had in high school. Dr. Renna makes it so easy to understand and he is so helpful. Took him for summer 1 and getting an A, with a lot of studying and hard work. He offers extra credit as well which is a plus.
This site proves once again to be useless to me. He has glowing ratings, yet I found him to be a TERRIBLE teacher. Basically prints out the notes, and then reads them to you, with very little clarification. Gives you no reason to pay attention in class. His tests are not hard, but his teaching style makes it VERY hard to pay attention in class.
Dr. Renna is an excellent professor. His notes are clear and his tests are straight-forward. He will answer any questions you have enthusiastically and competently. He could get anyone excited about A&P!
best teacher ever!!!!
Nice professor and I'll definitely want to take his class again!!!
His teaching style is great, study his slide and you will do great.
Dr. Renna is great. His tests are not easy but if you study you will do fine. He really enjoys teaching and is willing to help you if you need it. I would recommend this class to anyone.
He is very helpful and willing to help you get the grade you want. I really appreciated the fact the he is interested in each person in the class and is enthusiastic with his teaching. Very knowledgeable!!!
He's a great teacher! Very interested in you learning the material as well as understanding. If you email him, he gets back quickly. The class is hard, I would just say you need to stay on top of it from day 1 and you'll be fine. Oh, make sure you do the handouts he gives you they can change ur grade alot!
Very helpful cares that you get a good grasp of the material. He is very open to helping you but you must reach out to him. Make sure you complete and hand in the worksheets the can really boost your grade! I would definately recommend you take him if you need Bio.
Prof Renna was an awesome teacher! I had him in the summer & we did run out of time with some things and had to learn some on our own, but other than that he was amazing. A lot of work to do with worksheets, tests every week, etc but he warned us in the beginning. If you do the handouts & study, you should do well in his class. He can be funny too!
Nice guy. A lot of things to do with handouts, worksheets and tests, but they're helpful because they influence a lot in your overall grade. The handouts used had almost all the materials for the tests. If you study the handouts and be careful and listen what he explains you'd do good. As a summer class we had a lot to do but he was nice.
You can tell Dr. Renna loves teaching A&P. I had him in Summer I & we had a ton of material to cover in a short time but he was very effective. His Powerpoint are great but I just wish he would provide electronic copy or print them out 4 cells to page instead of 6 - hard to read. Do the worksheets & Xword puzzles as it will increase your grade!!!
I don't know what these people are saying about him but all are lyers. He gives you so many worksheets and waiste your time with some stupid puzzles instead of giving you time for study. At the end when you get your grade you'll understand that they don't influence your grade at all.Do not take him. His story are ugly and he looks like an immature.
I had Dr. Renna during the summer. It was alot of work but he did warn us that because it was the summer a 14wk course is condensed into 7wk. Overall Dr. Renna was great! his crosswrod puzzles were alot of help for studying. You will walk out of his class with a broad foundation of A&P. If given another opportunity, I will take his class again.
Great teacher. Very helpful and so are the handouts he gives out. They help you so much on the test.
TERRIBLE PROFESSOR! He reads from power point with no details, we also hands out puzzles that are a waiste of time.I cant understand how anyone would give him high rates. Hes not good looking inless you are into geeks!. I'm a A and B student and I had to work extra hard in his class wih no help from Renna. STAY AWAY from his class!!
not bad
Renna is extremely thorough in his lectures, powerpoints, drawings, and even crossword puzzles. Even if you do not have much Biology background, if you study from his lecture notes, powerpoints and puzzles, you will get an A.
I would recommend anyone to take Dr.Renna he does not give u a lab test at all weekly like other professors. He gives u plenty orossword puzzles, study guides, easy lectures. His test are multiple choice and they are not a big percentage of the grade. I would say just come and act like u know something and you will past the class.
Good professor who knows what he is talking about. Though with any class you need ot study, show up and pay attention. He hands all notes out on power point and his tests are straight forward as are the labs. No curving though you have a chance with extra credit quiz and crosswork puzzles. One neg all the cross word puzzles and handouts to complete
Dr. Renna is a great professor, taking A&P II with him during the summer was the best decision I ever made. He gives you so many opportunities to get a good grade via crosswords, handouts, and review questions that are actually on the exam. If you need a good A&P Professor register for his classes!
BEWARE OF THIS PROFESSOR. He is extremely hard and wants to trick you on exam questions. You can tell he is a young professor who lives and breathes A&P. And so, he wants you to do the same. Stay away and find a better professor. His ratings are misleading.
i took his class last fall and i have to say i really enjoyed it. You do have to attend each class to not get lost bc he like to talk about a lot of good info you might need. Lots of puzzles and worksheets, but its for your benefit. i would always go to his office for help. over all i would love to take another one of his classes.
Worse teacher ever!! Hes the only professor that ive ever had that never gave a study guide. Renna gives too much to study at one time and by the time comes to take the test your brain cant obtain all the notes and information that he throws at you. Instead of giving study guides like a normal teacher would he gives pages and pages of powerpoints.
Had his class last semester. I have the head of the department now for A&P2 and she makes him seem like an angel. Wish i could take him again. His extra credits are a breeze cross word puzzle u should see my extra credit now (essays)and there not easy.So i dont wont to hear the freakin boo hoos cuz you didnt study. Got a B.
No what is misleading is the idiots that are saying he is a bad teacher MAYBE COLLEGE IS NOT FOR YOUUU go sweep side walks for a living. He is easy I had 4 different bio professors even though they are at different levels still the same. hes the easiest by far. Its Bio...dosnt get any easier then him trust me. An A is obtainable.
Had Bio 110 class last Spring and he is not easy. He is clear in his expectations but you have to study. Lots of worksheets (and crosswords) in lecture and lab; put in the time and you can do well. Very willing to help but you have to go to him. Goofy sense of humor but seems to genuinely enjoy what he does. I would recommend him.
WRONG...on so many levels!!! i think he is terrible!
Cut the guy some slack. Dr. Renna is a wonderful professor. He is crystal clear in what he wants and is always available to help in his office. He tells lots of jokes and is always energetic in his lectures. Anatomy and Physiology is a hard class in general. You must put the time in to obtain an A. I have learned a lot in his class.
Great Professor. Extremely helpful in class and has a lot of office hours to talk with you. Let's face it A&P is already hard. He makes class fun and interesting. STUDY STUDY!
great teacher, he is very helpful and funny.
Great teacher! Lots of opportunities for extra credit. Available outside of class and really passionate about the material. AP is difficult and requires effort! Prof. Renna is a great teacher.
This teacher makes you believe your doing well when all in reality your not. Those dumb crossword puzzle don't count for anything, and he tell lame jokes daily.... Do yourself a favor and DROP his class ASAP
Don't miss class it's easy to fall behind. Dr. Renna is an excellent teacher, I learned a lot in his class. He is very understanding as well. Overall I really liked him for bio 109 so I'm taking him for 110 next semester.
One of the best A&P professor at CCP. you have to be in class or you will fall behind, but he is very helpful if you ask question. his tests are not hard if you study from his power point and pay attention to what he tell you to study. I wanted him for 110 but his classes were full :(, I can say I learn a lot from him and I'm very ready for 110
I was anxious about taking this class since I didnt do well before but he truly made me feel comfortable with the materials, very helpful, straight to the point on exams, and lectures werent bad. I'd recommend him over and over again. Thanks Dr. Renna!!!
Great instructor who was able to concisely relate relevant information in an accessible way. His jokes are corny, but are a reminder that he is human, too. A really nice guy, a helpful instructor, and fabulous educator.
Very funny and nice, and he fair with grading
He is the best teacher I've ever had. His lectures are very interesting, and his grading was pretty fair. I strongly recommend him!
He is a very good professor. Science isn't but he makes it fun with PINKY n BRAIN!:) Take his class n study! You'll be fine.
Can be very difficult but it is definitely possible to receive a good grade. Must study the packets, complete assignements, take notes and STUDY! Do crosswords if you have time also. It'll help!
Professor Renna was a great teacher. Very helpful and clear and always tried to make his hard test easier. You do have to study a lot to get a well earned grade. His lectures are interesting; he uses every second of class time. Very helpful and gives
Enjoyed this class. Made learning fun.
A great professor, very knowledgeable. He is a clear and excellent communicator - he would explain anything that is not clear to students. He encourages students to ask questions in class. If you wanna learn something, you should take his class!
Read the textbook,it helps a lot in passing.
I felt like Dr. Renna wanted us all to succeed in the class and learn the material. He could see when the class was struggling and worked with us to get past the tougher parts of the semester. He can be kinda goofy sometimes, but that's cool. He offers extra credit which is needed!!! Highly recommend.
With so little space to write, it will be impossible to write a fair review, so , I'll be very specific: WORK HARD AN YOU WILL SUCCEED IN HIS CLASS. He gives LOTS OF OPPORTUNITIES for extra credit. Get ready to READLEARNREMEMBER a great deal of details and body functions. If you like Bio, you will love his class. Dr. Renna is a great person.
Don't take this class. Every week there is either a quiz or an exam. Literally. He pile so much work on you each week. Help is there when needed. He is a cool professor but gives to much information all at once.
Great teacher. I recommend him to all of my friends taking a&p! Plenty of opportunities to get a good grade.
Stay away from his class .PowerPoints are not worth to study for tests. So you have to study the textbook . He just reads from power point without any good explanation. So you have to ask a tutor to help you to understand. You have to write an essay or filling blanks in his tests and that's awful . If you're a A student and care your GPA stay away!
A great teacher!
Renna is an awesome professor. If you study and do the extra credit assignments YOU CAN NOT FAIL. The crossword puzzles are time consuming, but worth the extra credit points.
Bio is a hard subject but professor Renna does his best to make it easy for everyone to understand. Gives plenty of extra credit, you have to really study if you expect to pass. But overall professor Renna was great. I would definitely take him again and recommend him to anyone who has bad anxiety lol
Dr Renna is an awesome teacher. Bio 109-110 are not easy subjects so with that taking in consideration, Dr. Renna tries his best to see to it that you understand the info and are able to process it. He does alot of extra credit. Crossword puzzles will give you much help when the final rolls around. I took him for both 109 and 110 and am greatful!!!
Dr. Renna is a great prof! Lectures & Powerpoints are clearly presented. Expect HW & extra credit opportunities(crossword puzzles & bonus quizzes). Exams consist of MC, matching, fill-in's & short answer essays(he will hint the topics days before exam). You def. need to study in order to pass but it is very doable! Took him during summer & got an A
Very hard working. Very fair.
He was great. Really amazing instructor. With I had home for 110.
It's a lot of work, but he will go to the ends of the earth to help and genuinely wants to teach this material so that everyone gets it. I wish I could have taken him for 110!
Honestly, he is one of the best professors I've had at community college of Philadelphia. He knows his material, and he goes above and beyond to help the students any way he can. I recommend him for anyone to take him. His tests are hard, but if you study his notes, there's no way you can fail.
Its DEFF a lot of work, but BIO tends to be that way. He has an awesome attitude about teaching. Really knows the material and when I say he knows his material I mean its his life. Its tough for a new beginner or someone whos "just not that into BIO" to go with the flow- but he's not a bad prof to take! He gives extra credit. But makes u work 4 it!
Prof Rena is one if not, the best professor in CCP. He teaches well and wants everyone of his students to do well. Don't take him if you are lazy and not passionate about "how the body works". This fall semester, a lot of my peers dropped because they said he's really hard and confusing. Maybe that's why they didn't get into the nursing programs.
Horrible teacher ! He's gives work on top of work without fully explaining each topic . Too many exams and difficult power points that don't make sense . I learned more from the young lady that was a student teacher in his class than I learned from him .
He gives amazing and interesting lectures. DO NOT TAKE him if you are lazy and looking for easy A. Tests are straight forward and gives crossword puzzles extra credit to curve your exams. Best professor to take for A&P because you will need to know these stuff for med majors.
Great Professor! Extra credit, homework and quiz to boost your grade. Test MC, SAQ, Matching and fill in. Do NOT. I repeat, do NOT take him as a hybrid. His lectures are too great for it to only lecture for one hour. Should study crossword and PP to pass. Do your best! No study guide for lecture exams; only lab midterm and finals
There isn't enough praise! Amazing Prof & person! Genuinely loves teaching, imparting knowledge, helping students & giving his all to make a tough subject easier. Fun crossword extra credit. Engaging & intelligent lectures. Explaining style is brilliant, welcomes questions. Take him if you really want to understand & remember A&P. Great experience!
One of the best professor's I have ever had. You will work for your grade and studying is mandatory. A&P is a hard subject no matter who you take. He is def. the best at teaching this subject. He wants you to succeed. He gives extra credit and the cross words help a lot as well. I worked for my grade but walked away with an unexpected A.
Funny teacher! Gives awesome explanations for A&P but I can't imagine skipping class and doing well. His tests are based off of lectures which he provides the powerpoint slides for. Will definitely need to study since there's so much material. Love the energy he has for A&P and teaching, encourages you to learn.
HE doesn't give study guides. you are expected to study power points and crossword puzzles. but becasue of the power points text book isn't necessary, everything you need to know will be in the pp.
Professor Renna is one of the best professors I have ever had. He provides powerpoints to study for tests and doesn't just read off of them, he actually explains them really well, so go to class. A&P 2 is not an easy subject. A lot of memorization, but if you put in the effort and spend time studying, you will do well in his class.
Professor Renna was a great professor! I liked him so much I took him for BIO 110. A&P is not an easy course, but he did an excellent job in relaying the information, making it easy to understand and retain. He offers extra credit by way of crosswords. They are time consuming but worth the time! I got an A in both BIO 109 & 110. Take his class!
Dr. Renna is a five star professional. Please take his class and read the power points. I had BIO 110 in the summer of 2016. This was an easy A for me. YOU'RE AWESOME DR. RENNA
Hes an amazing professor. definitely take him
Where should I begin, he is informative, funny, engaging, caring,, and fair. Even though I got a B- in his class, fear not, because if I had studied more I would have gotten an A. Take notes from his power points, do the crossword puzzles, and be ready to have a craving for a Tastykake by the end of class.
This man is so wonderful. He really cares about his students and is extremely accessible outside of class. His exams are not easy but if you go to class, take notes on his power points, make a ton of flashcards, and do the extra credit crossword puzzles, you will do well. Pay attention. Be engaged. Ask questions. Definitely requires hard work.
Dr. Renna is absolutely wonderful. Highly highly recommend. Thorough, funny, caring, and effective. He truly does teach and doesn't just read to you. Use the crosswords to both prep for exams and get extra credit!
He is a good teacher, but very hard. he doesn't give out study guide. This class is very hard without studying and giving all your time and effort you wont pass. He doesn't seem to care whether you pass or not.
I took him in spring 2016 hybrid , he is the most wonderful biology teacher ever I promise you, I have meet some jerks before
Dr. Renna is by far the best professor I've had at CCP. He is organized and puts in a ton of effort into everything he does. It's clear he loves his job and respects his students, which he shows by expecting students to be motivated/engaged and by providing support via extra credit. If i could take every class with him, I would.
Dr. Renna was the best Professor I've ever had. He teaches very well and straight to the point. I only got a D in the class because I didn't apply myself. He is always willing to help if you come to his office hours. He is very funny and uses examples for his topics and he also lets you know what will be on the test. He also lets you makeup tests.
He is a perfect teacher in Bio109 and 110. Give extra credit and you will get an A if you study.
A really good professor who truly understands what he teaches and encourages students to ask questions. He would use relatable examples to explain difficult concepts and help you memorize the terms. His class is tough, however, but if you pay attention and make your own notes, you will pass the class.
Dr. Renna is one of the best teacher in ccp. He tests you at the end of every chapter, gives 2 lab exams, lecture exam at the end of every 3 chapters. gives crossword puzzle for every chapter for extra credit points. Being tested for every chapter might be a lot but believe me final exam will be just revision. he is hilarious and funny too. :-)
He was an amazing teacher. I enjoyed his lectures, the crosswords were very helpful and he was fair when it came to grades. Great sense of humor. Would surely take him again.
Easy high grade class, generally everyone gets an "A". Not real world. The whole world is not "A" or even close. Did not really learn much. People who want to just get buy even get "A"'s here. Not recommended.
Great class. I only pick up my book to work on the extra credit crossword puzzles. Tests are off the lecture slides. Take the class if you can.
Awful teacher !!! He says that the things that are in blue are the topics to study for and thats not true . You still will find yourself going to his office to get clarity on what will be on exams and when you get there and he tells you the information that will be on test its still a lie! Crossword puzzles are a waste of time .
he is a very hard teacher. he does not teach you everything that is going to be on the exam. some stuff he would not teach in class because he said he has no time to teach but it will be on the exam. no study guide so you basically had to study the power point and read your book and pray you pass your exam. he doesn't help with anything!!!!
Not even done with the class and couldnt wait to give Renna a rave review. Hes a wonderful lecturer, down to earth, clearly understandable, and interested in the material. Prepares fair exams and makes sure the class understands everything beforehand. Nicest professor Ive had at CCP, such a friendly guy
Dr. Renna is one of my fav teacher in ccp. If i had to complain about the class it will be only b/c the subject is hard itself. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIS CLASSES.
Dr. Renna was a almost professor in my opinion. I took his A&P 1 and 2 during the summer sessions. Yes they were very intense. A&P is a very in depth subject plus summer classes are only 7 weeks long. At the time he offered extra credit with his crossword puzzles. Very understanding but far from a push over. Dont skip class, its A&P!
Ive attended three colleges and by far the best professor I ever had! It wasnt an easy A but as long as you study the material off the slides and do the crossword puzzles you should pass. He makes funny jokes which keeps the class entertained from a boring subject. I would highly recommend him if you want a caring professor and want to learn!
Solid professor. I took his accelerated A&P II this summer. He gave us A LOT OF INFORMATION for such a short amount of time. It was pretty challenging to know where to focus when studying for exams. His lectures were super wordy and I often wished there was more class participation. I did learn a lot, though, and recommend him overall.
Dr. Renna is a gem! One of the best professors Ive had throughout my 4 years of college! His humor made 8ams bearable. He wants you to learn the material and do well. Read the chapters ahead of time and study his PowerPoint slides and you should be able to maintain an A or B in his class. Put in time to study, after all this is an intense course.
Corny, engaging, direct. You don't need the lab/text books. Focus on his notes. Tests are challenging just by the nature of A&P being a voluminous course. Study his ppt notes, you'll do fine if you put the time in. Crosswords are extra credit. No curve. I screwed up exam dates, bombed one, and then came back with a 100 on the final. Renna's a gem.
Trust the reviews, Dr. Renna is a terrific, knowledgable, caring (and yes, funny) professor. Bio110 is a beast in the summer. Apply yourself, do all the puzzles, you'll sweat a bit but learn a ton but get the grade you've invested energy in. He wants you to succeed but won't spoon feed you. Couldn't ask for a better prof for this class. A gem.
Alloha. Professor Renna is the greatest teacher I ever had. Great lectures and labs. Crossword word puzzles really helpful. I am not done with this class yet, its not the end of the semester, but I felt like doctor Renna deserves this positive feedback. I highly recommends him to all students who want to take any anatomy and physiology classs
I took Dr. Renna's BIOL 109 course and can't rate him more positively. Is this class difficult? Yes. It's supposed to be! Dr. Renna knows the material inside and out, exhibits passion for teaching, and is available outside of class. He is incredibly accommodating and makes this enjoyable. The material and class are tough, but that's not his fault.
I took the condensed class this past summer and though grueling, Renna livened it up. He is straightforward and knows his stuff.
Dr. Renna is a great professor! Show up to class, take notes, study the powerpoints, do your crossword puzzles, and you will definitely get an A!
Great Professor at CCP! Really makes you understand the material and give quizzes online that help boost your grade and crossword puzzles for extra credit. I will definitely be taking him again for BIO 110
Dr Renna is an amazing professor I recommend him for everyone who want to learn about biology he knows his material very well and always makes the class very fun
I cannot stress this enough: PLEASE TAKE HIM!!! He is an amazing professor & one of the best so far in my history of academics. He gives out crossword puzzles as EC & yes, theyre tedious but they can make a difference from a C to a B on an exam grade. Hes super cool, knows his stuff, and straightforward for his exams. How much better can it get?
Best teacher! You can tell he really enjoys teaching. Bio109 is not an easy course but just takes notes, pay attention, study hard and do the extra credit and you will do fine. I really wanted to take his Bio110 course but couldn't. I def recommend his class.
This professor is phenomenal! Anyone who complains, simply do not put the work in when it comes to studying and understanding the material. He does a wonderful job at explaining the material and it may seem that he is talking fast, but if you listen closely, he generally repeats himself and tells the class what we should focus on for the exams.
He is a caring professor who is always available during his office hours to help. He can be a little sarcastic, but that's apart of his humor. Powerpoints are sometimes over 100 slides, but to pass this class you need to study constantly and consistently. You can't expect your professors to hold your hand if you want to be a nurse.
Dr. Renna make class interesting. If you're new to A&P he'll make the materials clear and easy to understand. Tests are exactly like his slides. Very funny, and very caring! Take him if you can, you won't find any other professors like him.
One thing I will mention that others havent is that he talks a lot which can be a good and bad thing. He explains concepts perfectly but he has bad time management with lecturing. We are currently rushing 3 chapters and only have two lecture days left. I wish he managed his time better because the whole class is stressed out because of this.
Hes cool but one thing I cant stand is that he doesnt answer emails which is annoying. I do not think hes that accessible outside of class.
This class was fun at times and then stressful. Lots of slides to study. You dont need a book just his slides. A major thing that threw me off is that hes easy in the classroom but when he puts out an exam its worded differently which is tricky. He is understanding and very knowledgeable and gives extra credit.
Lecture heavy, but very helpful by teaching so well! I definitely recommend anyone to take bio with him. So grateful to have this professor. Hes goofy at times, but always stays on topic. His PowerPoints are so helpful, but Id also look up videos with the topics to review.
He is a good teacher and fun, but he was gives alot of information. Wont pass if didn't showed up and be prepared for all papers.
Best professor I had thus far in CCP! He truly cares about his students!
Professor is well knowledgeable for the area of biology. He is genuine, talkative, assists, gives extra credit, work with you, and just an all around awesome instructor. I would take him anytime. He is highly sought after, register early.
I don't know if this professor bought the reviews, he's the worse professor I have ever come accross. No study guide for quizzes you have to study the entire power point which is a lot. His questions are really hard, PLEASE TAKE ANOTHER PROFESSOR IF YOU DON'T WANT TO FAIL. I have really regretted taken him
Take Dr. Renna! He truly cares about his students and replies quickly to questions/concerns. He is also super funny and makes the class interesting. Do the crosswords for extra points!
Professor Renna is an amazing teacher. Although I did not get to meet him in person I can tell that he love what he do. He's a fair grader, caring, passionate about his student's and their success. If I were you I would not hesitate to register for his class. Oh, I cannot forget about the extra credit work he give out! very helpful and appreciated.
Do the extra credit.. study the powerpoints.. I highly recommend renna.. he loves what he does and u can tell. Few good prof at ccp.. he is 10/10.. the extra credit really helps with each exam.. do the crosswords.. cant stress that enough..
If you are able to attend a class with Dr. Renna, You will walk away with insight on A&P part one. Pay close attention to details ,He is an excellent professor. Enjoyed his antics on cheese steaks and cupcakes. You will enjoy the class and make good use of your time. Oh! remember his classes fill up every quickly so try early and not late.
hes amazing, he gives credits, easy as long as u read chapters and power points, he also has jokes
Dr Renna was a good professor! Read your chapter, study the lecture and most importantly do the crossword and any extra credit assignments because its gonna help your grade. He also enjoy make jokes and talking about tasty cakes and cheesesteak in his lectures. Also Im he always available through email if you need help or stuck on something.
Hes god sent!! Do all the extra credit and always ask questions because hes always willing to answer!!
Prof Renna's class was amazing. He is sweet, kind, caring, and explained material thoroughly. I have taken bio 109 before with a different professor but i had to withdrawal because his teaching was terrible. This class was a breeze compared to my last experience.
Professor Renna is really passionate about Biology. However for those saying that the people complaining are the ones that dont put in work should shut up. college is already hard this class made it even harder for me. NO STUDY GUIDE he doesnt not give no Study guide! Would not recommend !! Doesnt reposed emails!!!!
Please do the extra credits..... They are a lifesaver to my grade! A&P is a hard class to learn but if you read the chapters, listen to his lectures, study the PowerPoints, and ask questions, then you will pass this class. Always available if you have questions even on the extra credits too.
Professor Renna is an amazing professor and gives a lot of assignments, but those are meant to help you prepare for the exams. He is super helpful in the lab and is also an amazing lecture professor explaining difficult concepts in simple terms. Study the PowerPoint, ask questions, and do all the extra credit assignments.
First year for the CPT program, loads of fun. if you show up and do the work there really isnt an excuse to not get an A. its like gym class but in college
Great
This course is very hard and has a lot of materials, however professor Renna gives a lot of help and a lot of extra credit assignments. His explanations are pretty clear and thoughtful. The only thing that could be better is the fact that he does not give study guides for tests.(besides final). I would definitely take him again.
Professor Renna is amazing. Dedicated in having his students succeed! He is great at making complex topics digestible. Do his crosswords and go to class! Both of those helped prepare me for the exams. Also appreciate the recorded lectures and the practice quizzes. Quick grader very available via email even during the summer semester which is rare.
Professor Renna is very knowledgeable, patient, and kind. He gives a lot of extra credit, but his classes lately are VERY TEST HEAVY. There are little to no other assignments besides tests. Exams make up literally 90% of your grade. Lectures are unclear and jumbled, and the class structure is backwards. Run if you can.
Dr. Renna is very knowledgeable in Biology. At first, I had serious doubts about passing and being able to study and focus. After going to his office during his hours, emails and talks after lab, I feel a bit more confident. PLEASE do the extra credit. Do not miss class if at all possible. Always communicate with him if you have to miss any class.
Dr. Renna has a great personality. His teaching is terrible though. He prints out PowerPoint for you but talks so much that you can't grasp what he's talking about. I'm a great student who's passed all my classes and has been able to understand the materials being taught, but taking Renna has been the worst for me. I don't recommend it!
Currently in one of his Bio109 classes, he RAMBLES! a lot on his lectures. chapters are very heavy, and I wish he could pinpoint exactly what will be on the exam. EXTRACREDIT: if you complete all the extra credit and received 8points his only going to give you 4points (messed up right?). he has lectures online which you can listen to and rewind.
He is the best and most caring professor I have had at this school. He is interested in topics and makes them relatable, cracks jokes here and there. I appreciated being able to go back to his lectures online to clear up any confusing content. Actually seems like he wants his students to do well.
He's a great professor, he sometimes rabbles. He gives extra credit for exams in the form of crosswords or a case study(Do all of them), which adds up to a lot but he takes a while to grade them. He doesn't give back any exams until the final lecture. Overall he's a great professor and is passionate about what he's teaching.
Took him for A&P II. He prints out his PowerPoints for students with all of the info in them for his exams. If you don't appreciate his sense of humor and interesting stories, just read the PowerPoints. He gives lots of extra credit opportunities and the crosswords are helpful. Learned a lot and had a great experience, definitely recommend.
Anatomy and physiology is not an easy course but Brian Renna will not only prepare you but also make you love the subject. He provides the lecture videos which helps so much with the class along with word puzzle and other things that helps so much.
I highly recommend taking him for any of your BIO 109/110 courses. He is an amazing professor, very humble and kind, and he genuinely wants all his students to succeed. He provides printed PowerPoints, offers lots of extra credit to help with exams, and responds to emails very promptly.
Professor Renna's BIO110 class is a challenge, but engaging with his methods pays off. The recorded lectures and practice assignments like crosswords are super helpful. Use Unstuck ai alongside the course materials to master the content.
I absolutely LOVED HIM! he gave out exam credit crossword puzzles, and has a great since of humor! just make sure you make downside for studying outside of class because bio requires a lot of studying in general.
TAKE HIM! I took him accelerated for Bio 110. He provides extra credit on every exam which Makes a huge difference! Always cracks jokes to make learning fun. Respectful and considerate of your time. Will accommodate your needs. Exams are straightforward. He does not try to confuse you. Best professor I've ever had @ CCP.
Everything you could ask for in a teacher: organised, has clear grading criteria, caring, responds quickly to emails, available outside of class if need be, truly knowledgable, and also, very funny. Wonderful teacher who you can tell really enjoys teaching. Accelerated hybrid format for bio110 is not ideal, and I feel so lucky to have had him!
Honestly the best professor I've had in my college career. It's obvious he genuinely enjoys teaching and wants his students to succeed. His joy and humor made 8am classes not only bearable but pleasant to go to. Even in the accelerated 7 week format, I learned a ton. There needs to be more professors like him.
AMAZING PROFESSOR! BIO110 is a hard class nonetheless, so please take the time out to study. He is very straightforward letting you know what material is likely to appear on exams. The extra credit crosswords are helpful in that they highlight important material, as well as giving you a few extra points on exams. He has a comfortable presence.
Dr. Renna is an amazing professor. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. His expectations are very clear and he provides you with all of the resources to thrive in this course. Lots of extra credit opportunities. A&P is not easy, but if you put in the necessary time/effort, you will succeed in his course
Dad jokes, tons of extra credit, managed to make a 7-week pre-req hazing course doable. He gives a darn and wants everyone to succeed. Loves to present the info as it relates to real studies. Would take again! (Just not as a 7-week- A&P isn't good for summer)
Dr. Renna has to be THE BEST in the biology department at CCP. His workload is manageable, he's funny, and SUPER EDUCATED when it comes to anything health/science. He is super flexible, friendly, and makes TIME for his students. Thank you, Dr. Renna I will be a great nurse because of you.
VERY cool guy, extremely knowledgeable and clearly passionate about his teaching. Quite lecture heavy and a bit of a difficult subject for me to grasp personally. But the professor is great and offers extra credit. Tests are fair. Not too easy but not unfair. Really just pay attention & do the work. Really thankful for this prof.10/10 would retake.
