Good guy, pretty helpful. Doesn't much matter if you go to class when it comes to actually learning the material but the group worksheets are an easy 5 points.

Survey of Calculus is one of the three toughest classes I've taken in 4 years as a WCOB student. The material is weird and very tough but Brian really knows his stuff. He really tries to make it easy to understand and does a pretty good job of it. Don't procrastinate with survey of cal or you will fail

Rickard is a wonderful teacher. He is young (30yrs?) but very smart! Has a great teaching style and is very readily available to help. I worked hard and got an A. Attending class is a must unfortunately, but he lets class out 30 min early most days which was awesome! Definitely recommend this teacher!!

Rickard's finite class was enjoyable for me. He's extremely polite and clear and covers all material that will be on the homework, which is basically the test. You won't use the textbook. You need to show up everyday and take notes if you want to pass. I took notes, did every homework twice and got A.

Rickard was helpful and clear and after a while,I was finding him more and more attractive- clearly, math was killing my brain cells

He is so cute! I went into his office and he answered any question I needed. He pretty much goes over the homework and quiz questions, which are on the test. I am doing a lot better than some of the other classes. Take him!

Finite Math is already difficult because the UARK math system is terrible. Rickard is a good teacher but his only class is 7:30 AM. Take a different teacher if you can't deal with that because all finite classes have the same test/quiz/hw to do.

Very nice guy and helpful teacher. The subject itself is pretty difficult, but he does a good job of explaining it. He only has one office hour a week though so if you want a lot of extra one on one help, he might not be the teacher for you.

A really great teach for a very difficult class. Everyone I know that had another teacher had no idea what they were doing at all. Do whatever you can on all of your assignments to get a good grade. Take all quizzes as many times as possible, get to 100 on all hw and preclass work, try not to ever miss a class, bc it's super easy to fall behind

If you MUST take this class, you might as well take it with Rickard. He's the department head so he has a real understanding of the material. Clicker quizzes at the beginning and end of every class. One group project. Answers your questions with questions, so that's kind of annoying.

He is a very handsome and interesting professor, looks very young, you can't believe he is a professor. he let finit math very clear, easy understand, if you do homework carefully, exam is not a problem. he is very glad to hep student also. really really nice guy

I've taken Cal at the UA more than once and BY FAR Rickard has been the best. I am TERRIBLE at math and somehow he has made the material make sense, MLP hw is easy to just notice the patterns and get the correct answers but DONT if you actually put effort at doing the HW and visit him during office hours you will pass, if I can do it anyone can.

This course uses MyLabsPlus. Homework doesn't count for a grade but it helps you learn the material. You must get at least an 80% on your quizzes before you can take the exam based on those quizzes. Exams are given in the testing center. There is group work but it's all done in class. No textbook because MyLabsPlus.

Finite, itself is a very tough course to take. Professor Rickard does his best to explain all of the material and is very nice and approachable. The tests can be very hard but if you put in effort you can pass.

Professor Rickard is the head of the finite math department and is an excellent teacher. If people had trouble in this class it was only because they did not go to class or do the homework and quizzes. The homework and quizzes were excessive but doable. Tests were easy if you did the practice test quizzes. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR ABOVE THE OTHERS.

Hardest class I've done. Never been bad at math until I took this, but with extremely hard work I got a B. (Thanks to the final, before that I had an A). He is a good teacher but extremely condescending&sometimes made me feel stupid if I asked a question. Can be funny because he's very sarcastic but sometimes annoying. Go to class for clicker point

Professor Rickard is by far my favorite Math teacher. He explains things extremely well in class. However, if you truly do not understand Math at all, he will seem to go through the lessons very quickly but if you go to him and ask for clarification he will help you out until you understand it.

He was very helpful any time i didn't understand something. Finite was a relatively difficult class, but he made understanding it easy. If you have to take finite, make sure you take his class!

Love Dr. Rickard! He teaches the material in an easy way, and is super nice. There is a lot of work, but it's for your benefit so you don't have to be so reliant on the tests. Get all the easy points and an A is really easy to get. If you have the chance to take Finite with Dr. Rickard, I highly recommend him!

If you're taking finite DONT take it online, it is hard, it would be best to go to class. Professor Rickard was helpful, responded in a timely manner to emails and explained problems thoroughly. My downfall was the web group project my partners left me to do the work & dropped out. Unit 1 & 2 are the hardest. Participation helped bring my grade up

I'm not the best at math so I was concerned about this class. Rickard really made most things exceptionally clear for me, and he takes the time to address specific questions. Attendance points are taken almost every day, but he builds in some extra credit with them. Very nice, pretty funny at times as well.

If you are taking Finite, take Dr. Rickard. He is the head of the Finite Department, very knowledgeable about all the topics. There are 5 tests, and an opportunity to retake a test. So you could take 6 tests total. There is lots of homework and quizzes. Do the homework on time, come to class for clicker points, do quizzes, youll be fine.

As the course coordinator for MATH 2053, Professor Rickard is probably one of its best instructors. Lectures are clear, ample time for understanding is given, and he works with students to help them succeed. He is a no-brainer choice for anyone taking Finite.

If you have to take Finite, take Rickard. I had trouble with math for years in junior high and high school because of bad math teachers, but he explains everything really well. He does a lot of clicker points but at the end of the semester, he drops a certain number for everyone in case you were absent a couple days.

you can tell the Rickard genuinely cares how his students do but go to class everyday for sure!! and do the pre class assignments when they are due because there will be clicker points associated with the pre class. if you don't go to class you will miss out on the clicker points which can break your grade.

Finite is a very hard class. I got lucky and just happen to pick professor Rickard as my teacher. This is a class that you have to study for not sure if the other teachers or bad or if the students don't try. I am beyond blessed to have had Professor Rickard as my educator for this course. Changing to business, a lot of my friends told me that Finite was absolutely hard and had to study every night. Rickard was answering questions that every student had. He treated no questions as if it were stupid. He was the most caring professor I have had here.

I took Finite with Rickard & loved him. His class is hard but he does a really good job at explaining things and gives lots of time in class to ask questions. He gives no extra credit though & won't roll grades over so be careful with that. He will also never miss class. He can be sassy in a good way which makes the class more interesting.

Rickard is a really good teacher. homework and quizzes are super easy but I found the tests super hard. I ended up dropping the class because I didn't need it for my major anymore and didn't want to hurt my GPA because of finite. If you're not a math person, get a tutor.

Professor Rickard is very knowledgeable and helpful. I am an online student and I found his videos easy to understand and he was available for extra help when needed. Make sure you participate in the discussion board. You'll get points and help when needed, or you'll get points for helping others. I 100% recommend Prof Rickard for Finite.

I've heard Rickard is the best finite teacher at the U of A so I would suggest taking him over others. Although, he gives out no sheets of notes and examples to work on making it hard to practice what you learned in class besides learning from the homework. The math itself is not hard, but the University does not let him teach it in an easy way.

Best Finite teacher, but you'll probably still struggle. Make sure you stay on top of the work. There are lots of grade opportunities, but the material can be challenging. If you pass (you have to have a C for the business core), you're doing good. There is a optional make up test and he drops the lowest quizzes, but don't expect a rounded grade.

Very tough class but good professor. He explains things pretty well but will have to look up things on your own and work hard if you want to succeed. (Just like any other college class) Class is important cause of clicker questions and is crazy about masks, if you take it down below your nose for a second he will flip out. Rickard is just great at teaching math. He taught me things in minutes that I studied for years in high school and still didn't completely understand. Lots of homework and tests are relatively easy.

There were clicker questions every class so you have to show up. It is not a hard class as long as you do the homework and pay attention. Even though there are many pre-class assignments and heavy weighted tests, you are able to do well if you try and this class makes sure you are actually learning what you are being taught.

It is a math class, so you will need to put in work, but Professor Rickard will absoulutely teach the material and explain it in a way to allow you to succeed. He is strict, but what is expected is clearly laid out, so you will know the boundaries. Do your homework and study and you will be fine. Sidenote, he literally wrote the textbook on Finite.

Actually loved this class! Test questions are in optional practice homework's, so its up to you to do them. Pre-class assignments due night before class- easy points- and 3 attempts for quizzes. Vague when u ask homework questions, but student success tutors I met with online helped quickly and kept it simple. If you take finite take him!!

Rickard is very good at explaining topics to students. He also has tutoring hours after class. Attendance goes towards clicker points which are 10% of grades, so you have to go to class or cannot get an A. The lectures are also posted online in case you have to miss a class, or need a review on a certain topic.

I took Finite Math online and I loved having Professor Rickard! The class is straight forward. The material is difficult but it's kind of impossible to fail the class. (You will see!) Professor is a very intelligent person, cares about his students and wants you to learn. One of the best/favorite professors I've had in my college career.

The class is not hard but you HAVE to study, Make sure to do ALL of your pre-class assignments and quizzes and make sure to get 100% on your HW it will matter at the end. Make sure to go to his tutoring hours/ tutoring center. Also, Unit 2 is the hardest and the final is cumulative.

Rickard is the professor you want to take if you aren't super confident in your math abilities. He explains things very well and is available outside of class for extra help. I bombed the first test and still made a high B in the class. You just have to put in the work. It's not an easy class, but if you put in a lot of effort you will succeed.

Check MyLab everyday for due dates you may have missed and do the practice tests at least 7 times before the tests. It's fun learning real world stuff. GET RICKARD FOR FINITE!

Great professor, probably the best math teacher I have ever had. His lectures are in depth. Quick responses on emails & is easily accessible for office hours. There is a lot of homework & assignments but they are easy 100s. You get what you put in for the class; all the work grading criteria is very clear. He gives you every resource to succeed.

Very knowledgeable teacher who does set you up for success with the work outside of class. You do a couple group projects which is a great way to meet people to study with. Final is cumulative so that's rough. He can be a little sassy but is overall helpful. Utilize the practice tests and getting through all the homework.

If you don't do the homework, you will not be able to take the quizzes or exams. The final is cumulative so prepare for that. He says it's equally over all parts but my experience was leaning towards 2 units. His YT videos are informative and helped tremendously.

This was a very hard class for me but I feel like he really cared about how his students were doing in his class. He didn't make it an easy class, but he genuinely wanted us to succeed & was available to discuss different things that may help. Stay on top of things, take advantage of the extra time he offers, and get a tutor are my top recos.

Professor Rickard was a great professor. He explained the material thoroughly in his lectures in class, and if you emailed him, he would answer any question you might have. He was also very helpful in his office hours. He will answer any questions you may have, and he would not just answer your question but also explain how he solved the problem.

One of the best professors I've had at U of A if not THE best. He makes every difficult concept super clear and easy to understand. I recommend not missing more than 3 or 4 classes though, or you'll get lost / miss attendance points. Going to class and doing all of the assignments and practice will almost guarantee you a good grade.

Professor Rickard really cares about you understand each lesson. I am 100% an online student and he makes online class feel like I'm in a classroom. There are zoom meeting hours where I can just log in and speak with him and go over things I don't understand get the clarification and hang up! Great professor, participation is key!

Finite Math can be a tough course, but Professor Rickard breaks down the material well. Consistent attendance and utilizing resources like the textbook and study tools like Unstuck AI are key to succeeding. Though challenging, it's a rewarding class.

AMAZING PROFESSOR! Finite is definitely not an easy class but Dr. Rickard provides so many opportunities to do well. Attendance isn't required but there are clicker questions daily (you can skip a few and still get an A). He drops the lowest quiz and you can retake a test at the end of the semester. Professor Rickard explains topics thoroughly and clearly and seems truly passionate about what he teaches. He is also great at responding to emails when in need of help. I would definitely recommend him as a professor.

Dr.Rickard is able to break down complex topics into easily digestible concepts. His passion for teaching is evident in his engaging lectures, thoughtful discussions, and commitment to his students success. This is not necessarily and easy course, but Dr.Rickard made it more than do-able.

Only reason I got an A in this class was because of him. 10/10 take him over anyone else.

He is one of my favorite professors, finite is a hard class in general but I think he taught it very well.

He's a very good teacher. He sometimes doesn't go over some things that are on the test sometimes, but they are little. Overall great teacher!

Even though you had a homework assignment every day professor Rickard help prepare you for the test in class. He is the head of finite so he clearly knows what he's telling you about. Even bumped my grade up 5 points before the final for “off days”. You still have to try but he makes the class enjoyable

He really loves his job and finite and is very good at helping us achieve a high understanding of the material. The class has lots of homework and requires lots of studying, but Rickard himself is a very good teacher. Requires clicker questions every day for attendance.

Professor Rickard is an amazing teacher who cares about his students. He is so helpful and gives lots of opportunities to ask questions and get help during and outside of class. Definitely try to get him as your teacher if you can!!!

Brian is a great professor but this class can be difficult. Homework is online and you must reach 100% on the problems until you can move on which is frustrating when you get stuck on a problem. Tests are a large part of the grade, which gave me a C in the class. Brian is helpful and is always at the tutoring center after class to help!

This class is super hard and this was actually my second time taking it. Even though the material is hard I feel like Prof Rickard explains it very well. He also records the lectures so if you do happen to miss a class you can go back and take notes on what you missed. He also drops some clicker points at the end so its okay if miss some classes.

Dr. Rickard's class is one of the most well constructed at the U of A. His grading criteria and policies are thoroughly laid out in the syllabus. He breaks down concepts in an easy to absorb manner through videos and in class lectures, while offering frequent tutoring to those who need extra help. He makes the success in his class entirely on you.

Dr. Rickard really knows what he's doing, he is a very good presenter and very knowledgeable. The class itself can be tough but business majors are required to take it. I think he does his best preparing people. But you MUST study for the exams!! And pay attention to due dates! He has office hours that are SUPER helpful too.

He is the one who makes the tests and homework for the course. Very educated and can answer almost any questions you have on the topic. Also does free tutoring at champions right after class.

He explains things so well and he's such a good teacher and there is not that much homework. Highly recommend especially if you struggle with math, he goes slow so everyone can keep up and explains things super thoroughly. I can tell he cares that we really understand it and he has tutoring hours to give extra help.
