Very helpful man, he is organized and has structured exams. I would recommed this teacher for those of you who need ACCT 221.
great teacher
he is the man one of the best teachers i have ever had
ditto other comments
I had him for MIS 200. Very easy class and a great guy. Rohrs is the man.

Interesting and easy class. I learned a lot of useful stuff about excel and access. Rohrs is a nice guy, and a great teacher. Extra credit is offered!
Very good teacher. Fairly easy class.
Mr. Rohrs made BA 150 actually somewhat enjoyable. He is very helpful and makes class as interesting as possible. He is also very fair with grading. Highly Recommend.
Kind of a lot of work but if you do good on it you will def do good...real cool guy
Easy to understand, midwestern guy. Doesn't talk over your head.
Other prof's assign less work for this class, but his assignments aren't difficult. Really nice guy, helpful if you ask, pretty picky though.
i admit, i don't like the class (mis200) since i think it has nothing to do with my major. but mr. rohrs isn't that hard, and makes the class alright.
Only complaint is that he seems to enjoy to hand out busywork. Overall he is a great guy and his class is pretty easy. Offers EC. Tries to keep the boring subject of accounting interesting and does a pretty good job.
I absolutely love this teacher. Always gives opportunity for extra credit and makes everything easy to understand. I was dreading this course, but he has actually made it semi-enjoyable. Plus, he's hilarious!
Great teacher! I was not looking forward to taking accounting but he made it not so bad. Offers extra credit, and is available outside of class. Very approachable guy. And amazingly, we used our whole textbook.
I had this professor for MIS 2000 as well as ACCT 2220, and he is a much better accounting professor than MIS..or it may just be that I love accounting. Anyhow, Rohrs is a nice guy and presents the material well. Some topics may need office hour time though..his exams are DIFFICULT, so study well, and read the text.
Took his class freshman year. He's really funny and loves Dr. Pepper. Take his class!
AWESOME teacher. Down to earth and fun. Actually makes sense when talking about business. For quizzes look over powerpoint and for exams look over powerpoints and key terms in the book and you will be fine! I RECOMMEND HIM!
Makes accounting easy and capsim is really easy. This class is a no brainer. Provides a lot of extra credit opportunities so take advantage of that.
Nice guy, very hard exams though
Mr. Rohrs is a great teacher. He keeps his classes interesting and fun. Exams are fair and if you study well you should do well. Hardest exam was the midterm cycle problem.
He's extremely helpful and makes sure you understand the material. Also uses the same exams and quizzes from previous years (hint hint)
Mr. Rohrs is a very knowledgeable professor with plenty of experience in the field to back it up. Lectures are boring, but he keeps them moving swiftly with tons of material. Definitely not an easy A, but not the worst class ever, either.
DO THE UNCOLLECTED HW!! If you don't you will be lost, i promise you! His multiple choice are difficult so study the papers he gives you, especially the Conceptual framework and TVM handout, he uses quesitons from those on alsmost every test. Pay attention, it can be boring and go in for help, he wants you to do well!
Awful. Sure, Mr. Rohrs is a great guy, but he is not a good teacher. He moves so quickly& barely explains the information. He teaches like everybody has prior knowledge and are all acct majors. His exams are VERY difficult. I disliked this class!
Nice guy but not the best teacher. Study hard for exams, when I studied hard I got an A. The last one I barely did I got a D. STUDY! use the review problems he gives you and read the book and you'll do fine. You have alot of exams but he does it on purpose so their is less to cover. Would recommend.
One of my favorite teachers of all time! Class requires studying but you'll really like him and he keeps things interesting. Capsim was fun for me and took up half of the semester and my team won. I've had him for both courses and wouldn't take anyone else!!
He was such a good teacher and really made sure you understood the subject by relating it to real life events. Accounting is a hard subject but if you study and stay on top of the assigned work it is very doable to get an A or a B. Just a little dedication and you're golden
Professor Rohrs is a nice guy and knows what he is talking about. That said, he's not very organized and we never accomplished everything we were supposed to in class. There is homework both online and class. A few exams, ethics memos, and a group project. I learned a lot but it was very rushed and we were still being taught on the day of tests.
Too many online assignments that he barely explains. He hardly ever collects the homework and his exams are too demanding for what he teaches in class. He may be a nice guy but he's an average professor.
Way too much homework. Also, he uses online platforms most of the time so he doesn't have to do the actual grading.
Go to class and really pay attention, do all of the online homework, and you'll be fine. Rohrs is a good guy and does well at explaining concepts. If you actually want to learn something (especially in ACCT 2210 & 2220 or if you're an acct major) then take him. You might get a BC but you'll be glad in your upper level classes that you took him.
He's an amazing professor. Although he's kind of difficult and expects a lot from his students, he's so passionate about the subject he makes it enjoyable. He's always willing to help students too if they're confused. He does assign a good bit of homework, so be prepared.
Great guy. Really cares and/or is interested in the course material. Explains things in a super easy to understand manner, and has amazing understanding of the accounting field in general. Low amounts of homework with fair and simple grading criteria. Very helpful; if I take more accounting courses, I will certainly look to see if he instructs.
This class is hard. It's a big change in thinking from the last class. The material is confusing and the exams are hard. Capsim is okay if you understand what you're doing and you have a good group of people. Go to class or you will have no idea on what's going on.
Heavy material coverage in class. He makes accounting more exciting and dumbs down the material. Beware of Capsim like everyone says. Don't take class time for granted. All problems done in class appear in nearly exact same way as exams. Great prof! A big reason why BG is top in accounting.
I thought professor Rohrs was AWESOME. First half of semester was managerial accounting and the second half was Capsim. Study HARD for the exams. He explains things very well and tries to make it fun. He is a riot and I loved his dry humor. I really enjoyed Capsim. Again, you get what you put into it. I hope I have him for my upper level classes.
STUDY FOR THE EXAMS
Sure, he's a nice guy. But I've had him for 2220 and 3210, and won't EVER take him for another class. There is a lot of homework, it's mostly on Connect and doesn't help you study. You take four or five exams before the actual final, and if you miss one day of class, good luck passing that exam. He says he curves, but only by two or three points.
Professor Rohrs is a nice guy but there is SO much homework for this class. He collects homework 1-2 times per week and doesn't necessarily communicate what the actual homework is. Half of the homework is online and the other half are book problems. The first exam took nearly 20 minutes longer than the 2 hours allotted. This class is ridiculous.
never taking his classes again!!!!!
Rohrs is a great guy, really cares about Accounting which makes the class more interesting. This class is very hard & time consuming - I'm just taking it as a business requirement. There are 4 exams in the 1st 1/2 of the class, I'm normally an A student, & I received 81.5, 79, 97.5, and 69 on them if that tells you something. 2nd 1/2 is Capsim.
Easy class the first half, but capsim was hard. It's not optional though, and I don't think any other professor could have lessened the blow as much as Rohrs. Capsim is very rushed, but that's because it's forced into only eight weeks of class. I didn't finally understand it until the last week. Be prepared to bond with your group. It helps.
This is NOT an easy class. Lots of homework (online & off), difficult tests, papers, and projects. He teaches VERY well. I cried after the first exam because I thought I failed (I didnt). It sucks, but if you cant handle this class, maybe dont be an accounting major. Its his job to weed out the bad students.
Rohrs is a certified beauty. One of the best professors I've come across during my time at BGSU. His dry sense of humor along with him knowing not many people find accounting enjoyable makes him a very funny guy. First half of class is lecture/test heavy and second half is Capsim. Capsim is actually pretty cool once you figure out how to use it.
Professor Rohrs was awesome. He was very funny and did his best to make class enjoyable. The 1st half of the semester though is VERY test heavy. There is an exam every 2 weeks, at least. There are a couple of quizzes too, but they are take-home. Study for the exams though and you will be fine. Rohrs is my favorite professor I've had.
You can get a good grade in the class but you have to work really hard for it. He really knows the material and going to class is a must if you want to know what is happening in the class.
Plenty of exams and weekly homework. Rohrs goes over sample homework problems in class to make the homework easy. Very similar problems to the homework end up on the exams. Great guy with a good sense of humor
Great Professor BUT challenging for sure! The first half of the semester made no sense and the exam was rough (I got a 65%... I was not prepared for a 10 page packet!) However... PAY ATTENTION the second half of the semester! This is when you can redeem yourself! Capsim is worth a TON of points and can really boost your grade!!
Entire second part of the semester you are working on a group project called Capsim. I had no clue what was going on at first; however, I asked a lot of questions and asked my friends who had taken the class before me and they helped! Group participation really goes into consideration as well! First part of semester is test and lecture heavy!!
he doesn't give enough time for us to finish anything. he gives too much work. you will be swamped if you take this class. impossible amount of work.
This class is ridiculous. Theres so many homework. If you are taking other classes and also have a job. Good luck! You wont have time for anything.
If you aren't very good at accounting you can still do well in this class. There are about 4 big exams and the final is a simulation. He offers many other opportunities to keep your grade up through other assignments.
If you want to learn financial accounting, take the course with Professor Rohrs. He gives you the opportunity create every financial statement yourself, and then he gives you ample feedback about it. That's why he's an exceptional teacher. He wants you to learn, and puts in extra effort to encourage that learning. Happy I took this course.
Funny Guy who loves what he does. Class isn't easy but putting in the work will result in a good grade.
5 exams in this class but it was nice that it only covered like 3 chapters and if you did bad on one it didn't hurt you too much. Lots and lots of homework. Cool guy, would take again for sure.
Just had him for ACCT2220 and he is not the greatest proffesor. The examples he shows in class do not go along with the work that is done in the McGraw Hill course work. The exams are definitely tough and the Capsim simulation was something that I was excited for all year. However, as we started the simulation, it became clear that it was very hard
CAPSIM!!!!!!!!! if you cannot run a business as a sophomore you will fail the class. This class has nothing to do with accounting and only goes off the game Capsim that nobody understands. The exam is Capsim too, so if you don't get it (which nobody does) do not plan to do well.
Overall, I really liked Rohrs. However, Capsim SUCKS. I found it very challenging and if you don't do well from the beginning you won't do well for the rest. Exams are tough, but if you go to class and study you should be fine. Make sure you get every point possible the first half of the semester so Capsim doesn't hurt you too badly.
All ACCT 2220 courses are structured exactly the same so I can't say Rohrs is any better or worse than others. You have 3 exams every two weeks to start the semester which really knocks peoples grades down. Capsim is pretty easy in my experience but totally pointless as far as learning something meaningful. Rohrs love of the simulation is cringe
The first half of the class is a lot of work (with three exams in the first half of the semester), but once you get to Capsim the class becomes so much easier. Professor Rohrs loves accounting and is always willing to help students. Asking for advice about Capsim throughout the project will help your team a lot.
Rohrs is a really nice professor, and he is super enthusiastic about accounting. The first half of the semester is textbook work. The second half is the Capsim simulation, which sucks. I barely could understand it without the help of my group. The final is also the simulation, so if you don't have a good grasp on how it, don't plan on doing well.
The only reason this course can be tough is because of the material. Rohrs does a great job at explaining such things and keeps the course at a reasonable amount of work. He does his best at doing the right things for his students and I really enjoyed his class.
If you are an accounting major great if not do not recommend. He wants everyone to love accounting. The first half of the year is easy the exams you need to study for and they're long. The final project is difficult and its a large part of your grade. Nice guy but Im not a fan of accounting.
Brian is really dry and not super receptive to criticism but he does a good job of teaching. You do an interesting simulation for the second half of the semester called CapSim. It's pretty difficult but there are no McGraw Hill assignments/paper exams for the second half which are really nice. Exams are in person so you have to actually learn.
Tons of homework! Had multiple assignments due per week that took a long time to complete. Uses canvas, connect, & Aleks. Difficult for students to time mange especially if you work and commute. Exams are pretty difficult. Not many professor options for this class so be prepared to stay up late, work super hard only to receive a C. Good luck
Exams very hard does not give feedback. Takes forever to grade exams
This class is decently solid in the first half when you focus on the textbook. There are 2 exams in this half and a lot of content covered in a short time so it is important to keep up, especially since all of it stacks off itself. In the second half of the semester there is a simulation you do with a group that counts for half your grade.
this class sucks. exams every two or so weeks. so much work on multiple platforms. hard to keep up w if you have a job or anything to do other than accounting. he seems like a good guy and like he wants to help but there is just too much material for the class.
Brian was a great guy. He is pretty funny and you can tell he knows what he is talking about. Only 2 exams based on the book, and Brian explains what you need to know pretty well. A lot of his grading is through his TA's, and they didn't offer much feedback. The final is based off a simulation you do for half the semester, so make sure to learn it.
I loved this semester with Professor Rohrs. Tests are pretty difficult but there are plenty of homework assignments and extra credit opportunities to bump up your grade. He is always willing to give extra help and is obviously very passionate about teaching and accounting. As long as you go to class and study for exams, you will pass.
Professor Rohrs isn't the best teacher nor is he the worst. The first part of the semester is all lectures and book work. If you keep up with the notes and smartbook assignments you'll do just fine. The exams are hard though, so make sure to prepare well. CAPSIM isn't all too bad, but if you try to go to him for help he kinda just talks in circles.
Prof. Rohrs is always a fun professor but his classes are usually quite involved and difficult. While he makes it interesting, it is also not always the easiest lectures to pick up on. He usually has many exams and they are always worth a lot of points. You have to attend class or you won't succeed.
I had a Very difficult time with this class. Very content heavy and has 5+ exams which can both help and hurt your grade. Fine professor just a hard class to begin with.
Grades quick, Awesome Lectures, Genuinely likes accounting but understands its not everyone's thing. If you go to class it passes by quickly and is entertaining and engaging. Hated financial accounting, but loved managerial with Brian Rohrs
He's a really nice guy but this class is very hard. While I'm not completely blaming him for accounting being hard, I do blame him for a few things. His exams are extraordinarily difficult and formatted differently than the McGraw Hill assignments while the other classes have McGraw Hill exams. His lectures not super similar to the exams either.
His exams are formatted so different than the homework and classwork and it is hard to translate what you learned in excel to a paper exam. He is trying to trick you with the questions too. There isn't always a correct answer and you must give the correct answer if you believe he didn't provide it. This is an option for every question on exams.
Rohrs is a really nice guy, but not a great professor. You fly through an entire textbook in 7 weeks, and then you do a group simulation with a random group that is worth 40% of your grade. He talks in circles and does not explain things very well, especially the simulation. Exams are very difficult even when you study. Consider your options!
This class is very difficult. The exams are rough and Capsim is painful. Professor Rohrs is your best bet for this class. There's a few exams and they are all ouchy. The class is difficult no matter what, but he adds charisma and his lectures are a tad bit silly sometimes. I enjoy him as a professor but holy moly I hate the subject matter.
doesn't teach at all he just does the problem and expects you can keep up. more homework in this class than my 5 credit calculous class and my four credit data analytics classes combined. multiple choice is A-F and none of the above being on every question and if its none of the above you need to write the correct answer in order to receive credit
He's a nice guy, but his tests are impossible, even while being multiple choice. His homeworks and things we do in class are nothing similar to what our tests look like and our class notes are awful and all over the place. Not even my tutor could help me with the homework for this class because it is so hard. Good luck if you have this professor.
Professor Rohrs is a great person but as a professor he doesn't help his students much. I have NEVER struggled this much in a class before. I have been a straight A student my entire life and then this class came along.. the exams are soo hard and if you don't do well on them it is hard to make up for. His office hours didn't help at all either.
His McGraw Hill can have 80 questions at a time, which means you need to do 160 questions to complete it. There may be 7 assignments in a week. This is the minimum. To be honest, I feel that studying on my own is more efficient than attending lectures. There are 5 exams in a semester. They are very difficult and numerous.
Re-do homework and class examples, and you will be fine. CapSim is not as scary as you'd think. Good guy and willing to help.
Good personality just bad teacher. Breezed through the book in like 7 weeks clumping everything together, terrible at explain and expects us to get it. Better off teaching yourself and personally I wouldn't recommend him at all, but you may have no other option with him being the on Prof. for Acct2220.
At least for the accounting course I took (2220) half of the semester was a business simulation which had nothing to do with ACCOUNTING. During the first half tests were the main thing you are graded on which were exceedingly difficult mainly because of the formatting not the content. The majority of the class has nothing to do with accounting.
He is a nice person and sometimes funny, but a horrific teacher. First half of the year is a absolutely ridiculous amount of assignments and exams. Exams are very hard. The final exam is basically two exams and out of class work that is overall more than 10 hours of work which is just absolutely ridiculous
Rohrs is an ok professor, I just dislike the structure of his class. You rush through an entire semester's worth of material in about 7 weeks, with difficult exams that are worth a large portion of your grade. The last half of the course is a capsim simulation with a group. It is fine if you get a good group. Would not take this class again.
Super nice guy, but holyyy, the class structure is so bad I don't know BGSU allows it. The exams in the first few weeks you are absolutely cooked for so study on your own time because class probably won't help. Capsim is not that bad especially if you get a good group.
Makes a tough class harder to learn. Speaks so fast and "expects" us to know how to do certain things. Makes Capsim (simulation part of the class) harder by not explaining thoroughly. He's a good guy but does not realize everyone is not an accounting major and not all of us want to be one.
