There is not a better History teacher at PJC. This guy is just awesome. I highly recommend him to anyone.

Mr. Rucker is a great teacher to deal with. He does a great job explaining the material, while aslo making it interesting and funny. I highly recommed him to any future students.

I took Dr. Rucker's American History to 1877 and from 1877 and they were both extremely easy. The only hard thing for me was to remember to take notes and not get wrapped up so much in his lectures (which were really more like stories). If you are like this, invest in a tape recorder. Essay tests. Know: Who?What?When?Where?Why? = A (if complete)

I love Dr. Rucker, I think anyone that graces the halls of any PJC campus (he teaches at all 3) should take Dr. Rucker at least once. I take the man for fun, didn't need the class but I took him anyway, he is that much fun. His antics are will...he teaches history in a way that gets you interested. NEVER buy the book, he is a book! Dr. Rucker was an awesome professor to have. I took his AMH2010 class in Summer '09, and refused to take another history class until I could take his (Spring '10 AMH2020). No need for a book - just take notes and listen and you'll have a great time in class.

WOW! Well that about covers his whole class. For someone who hates history with a passion, I walked out with an A for the semester. He is the greatest & the funniest teacher I have had so far. He takes history & makes it fun so it's easier to get. No way you cam make lower than a C if you study your notes & just listen.

Phenomenal teacher! He piques your interest and class is fun. He is a storyteller more than a teacher. You don't need the book. He's such a great teacher that I took his other History course as an elective. He made me choose my career -- a College Professor!

I RECOMMEND this teacher to anyone. OMG, He's classes is wonderful. People be fighting to get into his classes. He tells fascinating storys. We didn't use the books once, so I say don't buy it. Dr. Rucker is probably the best history teacher ever. He acts out his lectures so it's more like watching a movie. There were only three tests (10 essay questions) and one 7 page paper. His grading is fairly simple as long as you remember the who, what, when, and where. I wish more teachers were like him and made learning fun.

Dr.Rucker is funny and his lectures are never boring. You will not be needing a book. We watched a couple of movies and had doughnuts :O) There are three paragraph style exams and one research style paper that is due on the end of the semester. I would absolutely take another class with him.

GREAT TEACHER! Made lessons interesting and actually knew what he was talking about. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he will bump up your grade if you attend the majority of a semester. Tests and essays are easy and always formatted the same. Also, he often plays interesting movies relevant to the lesson and brings in milton bakery on the last day.

Definitely recommend! He is hilarious! The book isn't needed. He gives reviews for his tests, so all you have to do is study the review before. Papers aren't too bad.

Dr Rucker is one of the best teachers I have ever had. I LOVE his lectures. His super funny, and the only work you have to do is study and take tests. You have to study from your lecture notes, so make sure you take clear notes. You do have a seven page research paper due at the end of the semester, but if you stay on top of it, it's not bad at all

You have 3 "exams" that involve taking 10 of his terms and writing a detailed summary. He gives you 20 but he chooses fifteen for the test and you pick ten of those fifteen. He does a review in the class before the test that will cover everything. Attendance isn't mandatory but I liked the class so I enjoyed showing up.

Dr. Rucker is very smart and knows the material he teaches very well. I've taken 3 classes with him - in every one, you have three tests that are all short answer and one research paper at the end. His lectures are all very entertaining and you can learn a lot if you just pay attention and take notes, no textbooks needed.

Dr. Rucker lectures the whole time. I took a few notes but he went a little fast for me to write all of them so i just recorded the whole thing. He gives you 3 or 4 one to two page papers that are VERY easy. the class before the test he'll write exactly what you need to know. the test are you writing a paragraph on 10 topics. would take again.

I loved learning about history because of Rucker. The amount of information he knows on any history topic is INSANE. I never enjoyed learning about history but he includes jokes and humor that when the class time is over, you don't want to leave. You just want to learn more.

THIS GUY IS AMAZING!!!!! I like history but some people can put me to sleep. Rucker makes learning fun. He has some much insider info on certain events. I do recommend recording his lectures. I wish I could take all my classes with him. Don't take any other teacher. He is the best in the biz!

Mr. Rucker is an awesome, and intelligent professor. He's also hilarious, but at points the humor got to be a little much. There is no power point so I strongly suggest recording his lectures, if not every class then definitely on review day. Class after the test is super chill and he does "bloopers" from the tests which are absolutley hilarious!

Super Awesome and Funny! Basically lectures as if he's telling a story. There's really no work but make sure to take notes during lectures. It's easy to pay attention/learn when your professor loves teaching. This was my second class w/him and I've passed with an A both times. 3 tests, 1 paper the whole semester. Short answer test; 10 terms from a list of 20 & he goes over EVERY term the day before the test. You'd have to try to fail any of his classes. Don't buy the textbook!

Dr. Rucker is one of the best teachers I have ever had. This is my fourth semester with him, and he makes parts of history I don't particularly like very interesting. As long as you record the exam reviews and take notes on them, you will pass. He wants his students to succeed in his classes and is very passionate about what he teaches.

Amazing teacher! He told us everything in the form of a story and made the most boring concepts become super interesting. He was also incredibly kind and hilarious. I had to receive ADA services for exams due to random wrist problems that started in the middle of the semester, and he was great at setting up the exam the way I needed it.

I absolutely LOVED Rucker's class, he really tries to entertain and engage you in his lengthy lectures. It's a lot of notetaking and the only grades were 3 exams and 3 papers, just be sure to go over your notes regularly! He was really amazing though!!

His tests are the summation of the straightforward content from his lectures, no gimmicks. It's a lot of note-taking so be prepared to write. Dr. Rucker was one of the best teachers I have ever had. You can tell he truly loves what he teaches and is super knowledgeable. As long as you respect his time (show up to class/ be on time) he will work with you. The textbook is NOT needed at all! Dr. Rucker made me actually care about history and I was excited for class each day, even at 8am.

If I could give this man a higher rating, I totally would! Mr. Rucker is hands-down one of my top favorite professors. While he's pretty lax about attendance, I HIGHLY recommend not missing his class as it's ALL lecture and note taking. Take good notes (or have a really good memory) because his tests are ESSAY-based.

I made an audio recording of the review and made flashcards from that. It is an easy A if you pay attention and make sure you are in class on review day.
