He is very helpful in such a hard subject. take him he doesnt mind to work extra if you want to learn. He is also fun.
While learning about the world and science, he's such a considerable teacher to study with. He's always there when you need of his assistance. Very helpful.
He's a pretty good professor. His lectures are a little lackluster, but if you have any questions, he answers them throughly and is always willing to help you. He has a really good sense of humor, so labs are particularly 'fun'. Overall, as long as you put in the required effort, you'll pass the class, and might have a good time doing so.
Very helpful teacher! Not a walk in the park, but you will learn! He is very smart and if you pay attention he will help you understand but you cant just expect him to hand you an A.
He expects a high level of learning but is eager to explain things to you. He puts all of his powerpoint slides online and uses Blackboard. He is very approachable and helpful when you ask him for help. He is not an easy professor (no extra-credit or easy A) but truly wants you to leave his class having learned the foundations of molecular biology.
The professor was funny and he was extremely accessible. He worked with us when we needed it. He was always willing to stay after class to answer question one-on-one. He is very good at explaining things when you have questions.
I like how he combined the online material with the in class material. All of the lab reports were submitted online and he provided feedback on any answers you did not score perfectly. All of his lecture slides were put online.
Very helpful professor. I had him for BSC1010C over the summer a, and he made the six weeks fly by. You can learn alot, but you need to pay attention. He has no problem staying after class to help those who need it, and as long as you study, you will do fine. His test are concept-based, so look out for that. Not straight memorization. A+ professor
He was very helpful and fair. Also he was very nice and answered any questions people had. As long as you understand the concepts you will do well.
He is so hard and he never slows things down he wants you to Lear use but is very cocky the first Day telling the class he has the highest failure rate and he so proud of it and any one who wrote before me. Gotba great grade I tried so hard and he dose not do make up test or extra credit if u even fall back one lab or test you won't get. An A and i
He is a really great professor. He is a very helpful person and will go over anything and everything. I agree that his class is not easy, but if you study and stick around after class to ask him questions about the things you don?t know you will do ok.
Great teacher. The best way to get a good grade is read the material before coming to class, otherwise what he says will blow over your head.
A lot of material is covered in the course therefore making it difficult. Dr. Sage makes himself available to answer questions after class. His additional insight helped me pass. The test were based on his lectures/power point. If you listen to the lectures and read powerpoints you will most certainly pass. I learned a lot. It was hard but worth it
Really Great professor wish he would do Bio2. If you take him read the chapters more than once! He gives study guides that are very helpful and there is no lab practicals which is great. But in place of that he does lab reports and he is tough on the grading so I suggest you do it with partners and ask Dr.Sage lots of questions if your not sure.
VERY HARD! doesnt not give make up work or extra credit and over half the class failed one of his tests...
I studied more for this class than any other. But, this class really helped me create good study habits to use in other classes. Also, the professor is very willing to stay after class to answer all of your questions and try to explain things to you. No it is not an easy class, but he is very helpful, friendly, & wants you to learn. A+ professor.
The class is NOT EASY, but he gives you all the tools you need to pass, study guides, access to lecture slides, and he answers all questions you might have. It is definitely a challenging class
He is a very good professor, and is always available for questions. For each exam we had a study guide and there were no lab practicals at the end. Overall I truly enjoyed the class and you can pass as long as you commit to studying hard and participating in every class 100%.
There is a lot of information covered in this class. He is always willing to stay after and answer questions and help.
Dr.Sage is very helpful, I wouldn't say his class is extremely easy, but it's not super super hard either. He's very nice and he always give us feedbacks on our lab reports (lab questions) and he will have a review (study guide) available for you on blackboard before each test. Overall, he is a great professor, I ended up with a B in this class.
please dont take him you will regret it. most of his study guides fr his tests have nothing to do with the tests and hes monotone. if biology is not your best subject do not take him.
He is not a mean teacher. He is pretty nice just strict about the shoes you wear. But he does not know what he is talking about half the time and he offers help but doesn't explain clearly. He has a lot of tests and they are hard. The study guides suck!Read the BOOK. and don't forget to do lab reports!Lectures suck lots of powerpoints everyday
He was a good professor who was willing to stay after class and help you with any questions that you may have needed answered. I agree a lot of information was given during class but notes and the book are golden. Most of the time I found myself doodling in the book while he was lecturing. Getting a group together makes it a lot easier to pass.
I thought that he would be a good teacher, but unfortunately he isn't. He has a monotone voice, the only thing that is interesting about him is the color of his eyes. Anyways, he makes you go to tutoring, that is manadatory. If you don't do tutoring that's 20 pts off! Study guides pointless, tests hard. Don't take unless you wanna fail.
Dr. Sage tries his best to make his students suceed by providing study guides and ample amount of office hours to go and ask him questions if you are unclear on a certain topic. Read, do your Chem book, and turn in your labs on time, and you'll be golden
Very good teacher. He helps you alot and the mandatory tutoring is good. I got a C only because I didn't study like I should but I would have got a good grade in his class. He may be monotone but you can understand the material he is teaching.
Tests are HARD but , he is always there to help. In fact you get a better grade the more you ask him. He's a funny guy and he gets excited about what he's teaching which makes it cool.
Dr Sage sets you up for success but you have to do the work! He provides great study guides. take advantage of the tutoring he offers. He will tell you what you need to know and if you are over-thinking it! labs I always did my lab then went to him to make sure I knew what I was talking about before I submitted the work. Attend lectures and labs
Fantastic teacher! Make no mistake, the course is challenging, and many people fail or don't do well. This has nothing to do with the instructor, but rather the complexity of the material itself. As for Dr. Sage, his office door is always open, and he goes above and beyond to help students try to understand the material. I wish he taught micro!
Dr. Sage won't spoon-feed you answers, but he will go out of his way to lead you in the right direction and help you come to conclusions on your own. Tests worth 60% of grade, Labs worth 25% and tutoring worth 15%. Tutoring consists of asking him or someone in the lab questions, and it's free points! This guy wants you to pass as much as you do!
Dr. Sage is the best! He tries very hard to help his students with anything they don't understand, he's a very friendly guy in general, and he makes the class interesting in his own ways. I had him as a teacher for three years and he never disappointed. The class is challenging, but focus, study, and ask questions and you'll be fine!
A LOT of work in this class, but he is very nice and helpful. I got a B in his class but if I tried to read the chapters (not just the slideshows) and went to his office for tutoring I might have gotten an A. Great professors and review the study guides since they are a lot of help too!
I took his honors class, the only difference was that we had to scientific papers which were somewhat fun to do, although there was a lot of jargon to sort through. Pay attention! Read the Book! Do the study guides! Stay on top of the online homework and you'll pass. READ THE CHAPTERS! Reading is the difference between an A and an F. Recommend him.
He is clear and helpful BUT he gets mad when you ask for extra credit, which if there was I would had gotten an A. Study ALOT. Test questions are somewhat unreasonable sometimes. I hate that he made the class do mastering biology it was not helpful and a PAIN to do. He
He's not hot and doesn't offer extra credit. Mastering biology doesn't help and it's horribly hard. Jus watch out wit him.
The class is hard no matter what teacher you take from. But Sage is a very good teacher. He would stay after every class to talk things through with me. He lays everything out for you. Yes he doesn't give extra credit but he does try to help where he can. Talks a little fast during class but is always asking "any question'. Great teacher!!!
He was a very good professor. he had a decent amount of office hours and was always there to help encouraged kids to come in and stayed late with kids after class. he does his best to make sure you understand the material because its hard. i messed up in the beginning and didn't take it as seriously as i should so i got a C there is no extra credit
He is a good teacher don't get me wrong. But I hated this class so much. He tries to help you AS MUCH as possible. If you don't study you'll fail. He's nice and he tries to help he wants all his students to pass. He said on the first day of class that 1 out of 3 of us wont pass his class RED FLAG I don't recommend.
Very clear. Study book questions and read it, power points and ask questions. No extra credit. No late work. Labs are not hard. Need to study to pass. Must do mastering biology. Will almost always get out of class early.
THIS COURSE IS HARD. YOU NEED TO READ AN STUDY BUT PROFESSOR SAGE IS REALLY GOOD HE IS A GREAT PROFESSOR
Professor Sage is a really good teacher, it's just that he teaches a very hard class. You do assignments on Mastering Biology which can be a pain sometimes. TESTS ARE TOUGH, you gotta study for them (EasyNoteCards helped me a ton). He is a pretty cool teacher overall and is passionate with science. You have to put in work for this class to pass.
Took Sage for Bio I, although he makes you earn your grade and doesn't give any extra credit, He does anything possible for you to understand the material. He has tutoring hours and to be honest, class will usually end early and he always stays to answer any questions. I got a B in his class but watch out because studying is the passing difference
Professor Sage is an amazing professor. He does over the material with you until you are confident. He allows you to come bother him during his office hours and stay longer after class to ask questions. This class is not one in which you can just show up and take the exams. You definitely have to work for your grade. If you have time 2 study, do it
4 Hard tests, he is specific on test material
Prof Sage is a great professor. He is willing to help you every step of the way. He would stay passed class time, to answer any questions. The test are all multiple choice which was good, and he gives study guides. The only annoying part was all the Mastering Biology online assignments. Great class and I highly recommend!
I used to love Biology until I took a class with Professor Sage. Sage makes Biology extremely boring with his lectures. His lectures will barely help you pass his exams. He just reads Mastering Biology's powerpoints with his monotone voice. I just wish that Sage's lectures were a bit more exciting so all the information would stick in your head.
He's a tough grader, and I've found myself taking 3-4 hours doing the homework on MasteringBiology twice a week. His exams are very specific, and I highly recommend EasyNotecards to help you study. He said it himself, only 1/3 of the class will pass. But he's there whenever you have any questions and need clarification.
i failed biology the first time i took it and i am so thankful that i took Dr. Sage he is amazing just do mastering biology it doesnt matter what class you take you are going to have to do that so suck it up and his test are really easy got really good grades study from easynotecards and the end of each chapters test questions and you will pass!!
Prof sage is the bomb dot com. He is a hard test grader, no extra credit no nothing but all you have to do is visit him in office hours and he helps sooooo much with the exams you have to pass.
I have also taken his course for 1011H since he is a GREAT PROFESSOR. If you have the option to take him, DO IT. If you put the effort in, it's an easy A. He has the lecture slides already made, so you could teach yourself, but his lectures are beneficial (sometimes long). He makes it a clear-cut easy class if you try.
I took Dr. Sage for both Bio 1 and Bio 2. He is an amazing professor and knows a lot about Biology. His lectures can be somewhat dull at times, but they are very helpful. Even if you miss class he puts them up online so you can view them. Dr. Sage even gives out study guides for the tests. Like almost every science class you have to work for an A.
Don't underestimate the class or overestimate yourself. It's honestly not hard to pass the test because the questions he uses come FROM the book. Got A's on all tests w/o ever reading the chapter, just paying attention to lecture and going to his office hours even if just to sit and talk and laugh. Take him pls(I'm DE)
At first I wanted to withdraw the course because it was overwhelming but as the class went by it got easier, totally would take this class again, super chill, office hours are super helpful, I went literally before the test and got great feedback, work for it and you will get an A
Professor Sage is a great professor, but do NOT underestimate this class it is very difficult if you want an A but if you read the chapters and do what he says you'll be fine. Its lectures for most of the class and then some homework. Labs were pretty fun. He is always open for office hours so dont be shy.
Dr. Sage is the BEST Science instructor @Valencia College (Osceola)! He is always available to help his students in class or during his office hours. His teaching techniques are AMAZING & his lectures are VERY important to pass/understand the class. Dr. Sage truly cares about his students & he is ALWAYS willing to help but you must put in WORK!
Professor Sage is amazing. The subject is really hard, but he makes it bearable. Pay attention, because the tests are about concepts, not definitions. Don't confuse the professor with the subject. What I'm saying is, don't take the subject out on the professor. This is not an easy A by far, but use his office hours to get that A.
Prof Sage is a very nice/smart man, he really knows what he is talking about but sometimes it's easy to get lost. Only grades given in his class are Tests, Mastering Biology(HW), Lab Reports so there isn't much room to mess up. I would HIGHLY recommend that you GO TO THE DEPOT FOR TUTORING!! It helps break it down so much, go if you want to pass.
Professor Sage literally gives you all the materials you need to succeed. He tells you to go to his office hours only because they are worth it! Read the book, do practice tests and just pay close attention.
Homework and lab assignments are all done online, he posts copies of the lectures online along with the study guide way in advance. He has office hours(use them),hes very helpful and will explain anything you dont understand. You have to study and at least skim the chapters in the book, I would definitely recommend him for General Biology.
Biology is hard but this professor is one of the best in Bio.
The subject is difficult but he explains very very well. What makes it honors is the lab reports but they are easy. There are online practice tests that help because the tests are a hard. Very chill and nice guy overall, wants you to learn.
He is super sweet and caring but not a very good teacher.
There's a lot to learn, but he gives you everything you need to succeed (schedule, study guides, lecture slides, etc.). Does a great job breaking complex info down. Fill in the study guides as he lectures, and then ask him any questions you have during his office hours if you're still not clear. You are guaranteed to pass as long as you study.
This class had exams that was weighted 55% percent of your grade. So acing them is crucial to getting a good grade. I felt like I was more independent with my learning in this class. Reading your textbook and watching supplemental videos are a must to your success.
I am good at science but I have never experienced it like i have with him because he knows how to teach and is amazing
Prof. Sage was a great professor with the lectures available online. You won't pass the exams if you don't read the chapters and put in work. I did great on homework but the exams were challenging. I would recommend this class to anyone who wants a funny, caring professor who is surly there to help you succeed, but only if you're willing to work.
Dr. Sage is incredible. His lectures end early a lot of the time and I advise you to STAY! I would usually be the only one left to get help. He will explain things to you a 100 times if he has too. He will not get frustrated, he's extremely caring and is always willing to help. It's not an easy class so get a study group and don't be a slacker!!
do not do it. worst decision ever. better off going with verma, he actually cares if you learn the material.
Dr. sage is a great choice for biology! His lectures tend to be a bit heavy sometimes, but he makes them understandable because he explains well and also posts the lecture slides online. His tests are multiple choice and pretty easy once you do the mastering biology homework and practice from the dynamic study modules. Labs are also easy and fun!
His tests aren't bad if you do the study guide and his office is always open to discuss anything. I would always go the day of the test and he would help me remember things needed for the test. He explains everything so well in class and is by far the best bio teacher at Valencia.
Professor Sage is a nice man and means well. However, his lectures are boring and he reads straight from a powerpoint. Sometimes, it seems as though he's not even sure what he's talking about. His test are extremely hard, and the study guides don't even help. Do not miss this class. STUDY, STUDY, STUDY. Ask a lot of questions, if you're unsure.
I'm an A student and this by far has been one of the worst courses I've ever taken. I major in biomedical sciences... and let me tell you if you don't memorize anything you won't understand half of the exam. He doesn't care about his students, expected greatness, yet disappointing.
I went to office hours every week. Did all quizzes available even teached a class and yet failed to pass his test. His lectures do not help nor do the study guide knowing everything it only helps 50 %. He does not care about students even if you reach ou; they will explain the right answer but not help you even if he says he does. His test are 65 %.
Dr. Sage is an amazing professor. He really wants his students to understand what's going on. Exams on the other hand, not so pretty. They are pretty tough so you MUST study for them and read the chapter over and over. Fun labs. The lectures were kind of boring because he'd usually just read from the slides. Mastering and a lab for every chapter.
Although this was a tough class itself, Sage is always trying to help students understand the lesson. He's always saying "Come to office hours for help!!" Lectures are heavy because of the long class time and he likes to tell corny jokes related to the lesson to help you remember. He's very nice and kind to get along with. STUDY STUDY STUDY!!!!!!!!
His test are found online there is a Biology Campbell website that has it ! Nothing that he teaches is on the presentation.
Bio 1 is a very challenging course; however, Dr. Sage tells you exactly what to do to be successful (attend lectures, work through the study guide, do all of the practice problems, ask question in class when you don't understand, and ATTEND OFFICE HOURS). Not an easy A, but he really will help you to pass if you are willing to do the work.
The kind of professor you want when learning the basics of a complex science. This guy will do what it takes to ensure you grasp the material and even toss in some humor. He sometimes begs people to come to his office hours which can seem a little desperate (lol) but its only because he cares so much! Also, his study guides are top notch.
Dr. Sage gives lectures using PowerPoint so you do not have to take notes. Lab reports are not real lab reports and are very easy. His exams are multiple choice questions only. And he actually will tell you what questions are going to be on the exam. He will answer all your questions during lecture or office hours. He is very funny, we loved him.
You will have to read a book, do one-two homework assignments per chapter on Canvas, do lab reports that are very easy, and you will have multiple choice exams. You will already have all important notes from his PowerPoint slides. He will try to help you, but you have to study a lot. It is a hard course. Often you will finish class earlier!! :)
Great teacher, get ready to be in heavy lectures. You have to study for the exams otherwise you're going to fail. Does drop the lowest grades.
Professor Sage was an amazing professor. Actually taught the material, was mildly entertaining, and extremely patient with questions. Summer class had less chapters, tests every 2-3 chapters, GIVES STUDY GUIDE, person homework weekly, FUN labs with not too much write up - just a quiz w/ short answer questions. GO TO OFFICE HOURS. He WILL help you!
It's a hard subject to begin with so don't expect it to be easy. He made lectures interesting and tries his best to explain. You can obviously see how well he knows his stuff. Be friendly and go to his office hours for help and he'll give you tips on what's going to be on the test. I studied a lot for this class and met new people.
He is a good teacher. Gives a few labs and chapter homework once a week. I did good on everything except for the exams. He would combine chapters (which have a lot of information in them) and make you use honorlock for the exam. The exams were stressful and the honorlock added to it because if you move your face out of the screen it stops the exam.
Class is straightforward and the way it's laid out is very organized and easy to follow. The tests for my semester were worth 60%. The other 40% is assignments/labs. For the students that don't do well, I believe it's due to not having the right study methods. No study guides, tests are proctored. Love his lectures, to the point and short. Study!!!
Prof. Sage is an amazing professor. His powerpoint lectures are better than the actual book. He provides AMAZING study guides and offers help during his office hours if you need. Exams are worth 60%. The only con is that he does not offer extra credit, so you really have to work hard to get that A. Not an easy class, but not the hardest either.
Dr. Sage is great at explaining the lectures through videos. But, when it comes in time for the test, there was an immense amount of pressure to pass each test. The way he grades is way too test heavy, so you have to study a whole lot. 60% of your grade is based on the tests. All of the assignments barely make a difference in your grade.
This is a challenging course; however, Dr. Sage really wants you to be successful. The tests are hard but if you study and go to his office hours you will pass the class. I went to his office hours regularly and it really helped. I'm not good at science but Dr. Sage really cares and will help you pass, you just have to reach out for help.
HORRIBLE
The course is challenging, but Dr. Sage wants you to succeed. You just have to be willing to put in the work. He is very accessible and begs students to come to office hours if they need help. Hes more than willing to answer questions. He doesnt give out busy work, just assignments that will help you learn.
Dr. Sage is a great professor for those that would like to actually learn. If you plan on cheating the entire time and want an easy A without much work this would not be the professor for you. He explains biology in a way that you can understand it. He also exaggerates for students to go to his office hours if you need help and it really does help.
Dr. Sage is very clear on what he expects from students: study!!!!!! The exam study guides are really straightforward if you actually study. Dr. Sage is great at explaining concepts that may seem intimidating at first so go to his office hours and watch his lectures! This class is tough but very fun (caveat to it being fun: I am a bio major).
Doctor Sage is exceptionally intelligent, in science and in life. First-class on campus (pun intended - very good experience, in my opinion). I ended the class with a C due to personal conflicts, NOT course content. Super understanding and works with your schedule (as best as he can). Looking forward to taking BSC1011H with this professor.
If I could take this class again I would only do it with professor Sage. Only take him if you actually wan to learn, because you wont pass this class without actually studying. You will need to go to his office hours, that helps a lot.
Professor Sage is a great professor, especially if you need a lot of help, like me. It is a lot of work, and if you need help, he is always there to help. The lowest hw, lab, quiz and exam is dropped, so if you fail something, it wont count. The tests are weighted A LOT. I definitely recommend him. He doesn't give extra credit by the way.
Dr. Sage is an amazing and genuinely caring professor! This class is a heavy workload so be prepared to studyyyy (like he says). One thing that drastically helped me are his office hours. Seriously take advantage of them whether you need the help or not. Most important thing is to study very intently. It was an enjoyable class :)
i took microbiology with Dr Sage, i really liked this class, if you study this course is going to be easy. He gives us small quizzes for some chapters to make sure we watch the lectures, which some of them are short, if you do so they are going to be easy. the exams and lab practicals are good, whatever is on the lectures, will be on the exam.
Dr.Sage was incredibly helpful and kind. I would absolutely take another class with him. His lectures videos are great, they summarize the chapters very well. The homework amount is just right and very much doable, no overwhelming at all. The exams with textbook reading and the lectures are not hard to pass. Labs were very fun and interesting.
I just recently took Dr. Sage's microbiology class over the summer and although the class itself is challenging, he did a great job. He provides all of the information that you need to pass the tests. As long as you actually make an effort to read the textbook and watch his lectures, then you'll be okay.
Took as one of my first classes in fall 2022 in person, must be on time at attendance though especially on test days. Cares and wants you to go to office hours. Fun labs, hard tests but they are weighted.
the lectures were all old on YouTube which made studying for tests a bit boring. Your grade in this class relies on the exam grades, exams are HARD and you NEED to study extensively.
Mixed mode: Dr. Sage was super funny and understanding. But if you're looking for a class just for the credit and to breeze thru, this class is not for you. Lots of content, long lectures, u need to study. A LOT but it's not shocking for a biology class. NO EXTRA CREDIT. labs r easy, paper assignments and hw arent too bad. tests r hard
this class tests were HARD, study study study if ur taking him, homeworks are easy and he doesn't do hard labs either, i would think twice if taking him because he is really nice and caring but all the lectures are long and you need to be on top studying every week.
Professor Sage was a great professor. There is a quiz every class and an exam every other class but once you study the material he gives you and go to his office hours if you are unsure then you should be fine. He provides a lot of material and his lectures are amazing and helpful. I would 10/10 recommend this professor.
He's a good person but DONT take him if you're a bad test taker, I never drop a class before but I had to do it, 60% of ur grade is based on exams and they're HARD, I did study hard all week but I couldn't pass, labs are easy but just 15% of the grade, assignments 15% and quizzes 10%, unless you don't pass the exams u not passing this class
Mixed mode: I don't know if this professor use fake reviews or whatever, awful class, tons of students had to drop, no extra credit is offered, exams were 60% of your grade and they were REALLY HARD and I am a 4.0 gpa student 24/7 studying, he is a good person but the class was hard, no rounding grades, he drop the lowest exam grade and pop quiz
I would not take this professor again. His test are hard. I studied for them heavily and barely passed. Do not take him online if you can't teach yourself the material. He doesn't offer extra credit and ignores his emails.
This class is hard. You really have to go in heavy because every quiz and exam could make or break your grade. Exams are 60% each so do not slack!! Otherwise, He is caring and very supportive. He understands that the course is challenging and is very clear on expectations and structure for success, Which helped us a lot. He is also funny. No E.C.!!
I took this professor for microbiology this past semester. Do not take this class if you just feel like you are going to past it without trying. He is an amazing professor and cares, but if you do not try for your grade than you are going to fail. He offers help classes. No extra credit. if you try and study you'll be fine. 5 tests,1 group project
Dr.Sage is a great teacher i enjoyed having him as my professor he explained in the lecture videos pretty much perfectly the lesson i would say if your going to take this class use the master biology study help it really does make a different and he takes one exam, homework and quiz off making the class manageable as long as your not lazy your fine
Microbiology is a difficult course regardless, Dr. Sage has found a way to have a consistent teaching style that worked well for me! 6 exams that account for most of your grade, short quizzes, lab homework's and exams. clear expectations. he is very helpful but you must reach out. exams are directly from the textbook, lecture online.drops lowest exam
Dr Sage is an excellent educator. If you show interest, read/watch the required materials, and seek help if needed you will pass the class with flying colors. This is a difficult subject, however the class comes with prerecorded lecture videos and the grading criteria is very straightforward. Also, how drops your lowest grade from each category!

I took Dr. Sage for microbiology and it was good. FYI this is a HARD subject, if you don't study YOU WILL NOT PASS! That being said his test are pretty straightforward from the book and lecture videos. He drops the lowest exam, lecture hw and quiz grades. As long as you study and show up to class you will pass, I would take him again.
Exams are difficult. Posts a lot of videos to go over the chapter which is helpful but he talks very fast in them. The only way to do well is READ the chapters, watch all the videos, and take avid notes. Do the questions in the back of the book. Labs are pretty simple. No extra credit.
Great professor. His lecture videos are on you tube even if you don't have a lecture class to go to. The videos are very helpful to study from. If you study his lectures and the smartbook homework you can pass most of the tests without an issue. DO NOT be late, or miss test days. Test aren't super hard but you do need to know the material.
Dr. Sage's microbiology class is challenging but rewarding. Attend lectures, read the textbook, and utilize office hours. Unstuck ai is a great study aid alongside other resources. With effort, you'll do well.
Professor Sage is very clear that there is no extra credit so make sure you study more than you think you should. Go over video lectures and the textbook to understand what questions may be asked. This class is difficult but manageable if you pay attention and study!! Overall, I had a great time in his class.
I loved his class. Sadly, I didn't have the grade that I wanted but this is an easy A if you pay attention and study. I enjoyed the class and the way he teach it. The labs are fun/easy to do and the homework is not complicated, I learned a lot! He do quizzes when we arrive to class and the test are critical thinking questions. Be prepared!
Professor Sage is a kind man and he himself gets a 5/5. His mixed mode class is lab only which can be done online. He has videos of him teaching each chapter. Everything is weighed very lightly except tests. tests are 60%, and there are only 4, if you bomb one you are screwed. I dont recommend taking this if you can't teach yourself
If you underperform in ONE exam, it will tank your grade and wont come back up because the class is weighted (50% for exams). Multiple ppl dropped the class due to this. Even sends a message to everyone to drop the class before deadline if you underperformed in one exam (shameless). No extra credit, he WILL NOT teach in class, just lecture videos
If you are looking for an easy A, do not take this class. He does not give extra credit. Exams weight A LOT , and they are in person, NO NOTES ALLOWED. It's just you and your brain. Professor is very sweet and cares about his students. so if you are taking him and feel that you are struggling, go to his office hours!
The class itself is hard. Tests counts over half of the entire course grade so if you do bad on some, don't expect an A. NO extra credit. He drops the lowest test score tho. It's hard to get an A on the exams, so make sure to study. Dr. Sage is such a sweetheart and actually helps you understand the topic, but ONLY IF you go to his office hours.
I did like this professor, but honestly if you can find some other prof that is more understanding PLEASE do so. His tests are everything, and every week is whether a test or a quiz. NO study guides provided, no extra credits, no late work even by a sec. Great personality, I did take it mixed, but his lectures were nice.
If you are intending on going into the Biological Sciences then this professor is for you. He will prepare you for the grueling expectations of a STEM major, but he also wants to help you succeed. Go to his office hours and you watch his lectures and you will do fine on the exams. Do the practice tests and quizzes, you will thank me later.
