THIS MAN IS A TERRIBLE TEACHER. He seems to be a nice enough guy, but he even admitted that he doesn't like to lecture. Too bad 75% of the class grade is based on the lecture class! Very confusing to listen to, had to teach myself. Only 4 tests in lecture! (Plus the comprehensive final). DO NOT TAKE NUNEZ FOR ANATOMY.
He lectures instead of TEACHING. He speaks as if we are experts on each subject, barely skimming over them. You're better off taking an online course because you have to re teach yourself everything in this class anyways. He should go back to working in "the lab" or field or wherever he was before...
This man makes A&P seem like torture. Rambling, discombulated lectures, constantly changing test formats, incessant TED videos, it never ends. He made us do three weeks of group work on ONE CHAPTER...of course he ended up behind & rushed, which only magnifies his lack of teaching ability. My study group is the only way I am surviving this class.
This was the 2nd semester of a 2 part course. Dr. Nunez knows his material well, but you need to be prepared for it. If you're looking to be spoon fed, this isn't your course. Exams come mostly from lecture and some text. Very approachable.
A&P is a difficult subject, and this class SHOULD be challenging. It should NOT however, be confusing due to the instructor's inability to effectively communicate concepts. Extremely disorganized lectures. Constant reminders to "Start studying now!" for tests were unhelpful & condescending. Nice man, terrible teacher.
Powerpoints were rushed thru because we could "go back and look at it later." Quizzes at the beginning of each lecture that were NOT graded, and NOT returned. Attempting to substitute groupwork for his poor lecture skills was an abject failure. Grades for the last test before the final were so abysmal he dropped the lowest test grade (of four!!).
Watch Dr. Najeeb's videos on youtube if you want to pass this class. Might as well not even listen in lecture. Awful teacher. Has made my semester miserable.
I really liked him!
He is a an absolute genius. He teaching style is totally outside of the box and really makes you think. He will revolutionize how you learn and process the biological studies.AWESOME PROFESSOR!!!
I absolutely love Dr.Nunez! Anatomy is not an easy subject but he helps break it down as much as possible. Ofcourse if you don't study then don't expect to do good. I have had a terrible a&p teacher before so I truly appreciated nunez. I also love his teaching style of the "flipped classroom"! No boring lectures!
Dr Scott is awesome and an easier class so long as you read the power point presentation, (which of course is easier interesting) understand the contents full and able to relate to real life definitely you will make it. however, if you are the person who likes to be spoon fed this is not your class.
Dr. Nunez is a fantastic instructor. His flipped classroom helps to keep students accountable for learning the information, and he is always available and willing to clarify if you aren't quite sure you're understanding something correctly. Great guy, wish I had taken 168 with him.
all I can say howdy!! and thank for making your student to think out of the box and study as if they are preparing for lecturing. I love this class. keep up the good job Dr but if you are the kind of students who needs to be spoon-fed sorry try somewhere. however with the nature of nursing career I recommend him.
What a great teacher. I could not have asked for a better one. Absolutely loved the way he taught and basically you were responsible for your own grade. He's always willing to help and is an all around good guy. You'll have to study weekly for quizzes but it better prepares you for tests. Never really used the textbook. TAKE HIM!
Alright folks, this oddball, yet adorable, professor is great! He truly loves science and after a class with him, you will too. He gives you the information and it's up to you to learn it. Great guy, great class!
Dr. Nunez is one of the most approachable and down-to-earth professors I've had at Wake Tech. His "flipped classroom" is a wonderful idea. You are responsible for learning the material outside of class, so he will not spoon-feed you with boring lectures. If something is unclear, he will do everything he can to help you understand. AWESOME TEACHER!!
This guy needs to go back to research. If you're the instructor, you shouldn't make the students teach the class! A science class can be challenging with a professor who lectures! Not this one.
I would recommend this class to anyone who would like to take A&P II. His power points are pretty clear and straight forward.
Nunez is tough but he is passionate about what he''s teaching and really cares about what his students learn. You have to work for your grade lots of outside class time but at the end of the day you will have actually LEARNED something.
Great great great teacher !!!!
Great teacher!!!! He's funny and very cute. I retained everything he taught me.
Dr. Nunez uses the "flipped-classroom" method. You read his presentations online before class, then take an individual quiz in class and do the same quiz as a group. You get to choose the questions you answer, even on exams. His passion about microbiology is contagious (pun intended), and he is hilarious! I highly recommend him!
PowerPoints are a mess and is a good class if you're dumb. Smart ppl you are grouped with others and everyone gets to ride off your grade
Dr. Nunez is easily approachable. He uses the flipped classroom method. Meaning, you study on your own and come to class prepared for discussion, group work, and possible quizzes. He went above and beyond for our study group. Even now, while I am in the nursing program, I can ask for help with the "basics" and he will assist me. Great educator.
I learned a lot in this class, but it's not for everyone! The flipped classroom model is a bit different on the college level, you really have to study (A LOT) BEFORE class on the material you're supposed to be lectured on. Be prepared, there are NO lectures, everything is death by powerpoint on your own time.
I was reluctant to take his class because I was used to another teacher and because his class is 3 times a week. But I am glad I didn't drop. He is an amazing professor. I am taking BIO 169 right now with him. He is funny and very energetic. He is available in office hours if you have questions. A&P is very hard. He is good looking too.
I'm learning alot, but not because of the professor; you do the lectures before class and they're filled with zombie crap and stupid jokes. If you have a question, he answers your question with a question. You're thrown into groups to answer questions without the aid of your notes or the book. I'm totally disgusted; don't take any of his classes
I took him spring semester and drop him soon after it started, I don't like the flip method u basically teach yourself , if that's the case what's the point of wasting gas 3 times a week to go to class. He puts you in groups with out notes , so basically your relying on each other to help you out to answer questions, listen to the reviews
Scott is tough! You need to be really accurate with everything in every chapter, on every exam, and every lab practical. He expects you to read ahead!! Lecture and lab quizzes every week. 2-3 power points every week that are read outside of class. Lecture is never lecture on the power points.. mostly just videos or quizzes.
I was unsure of his unusual style of teaching when I first started the semester but I wanted to give it a try. My preferred method of learning is from lecture after reading so I can get a better idea whether I understood what I read. You are on your own with this class. I am making a good grade but it is from videos of other teachers and reading.
I ADORED Dr. Nunez's class. He is funny, approachable, and always willing to go the extra mile to help those students who ask for it. He brings anatomy to life and keeps things interesting. The flipped classroom style may not be for everyone, but I found that I learned more information, more completely, with his methods. Would highly recommend.
Dr. Nunez is very charismatic, and it draws you in and makes you think you like Microbiology more than you actually do. He is super smart, and he can really challenge you, but when you rise to meet his expectations (especially if you exceed them), you feel like a brainiac, too. He makes you learn, and some people don't like that, but I did.
Dr. Nunez is amazing professor. I was unsure about the flipped classroom at first, but it truly benefits you to learn. He explains the material very well-so that everyone can understand. You are actually learning things in this class, not just memorizing definitions. I advise everyone to take him. Very competent and helpful professor. Great person!
Mr Nunez was an amazing lab professor for microbiology. He has you pre-read slides for class to make you prepared for class and focused. Love his method bc it holds me accountable to read ahead and be prepared. Quizzes are a good practice so your prepared for test with no surprises. I wish I took him for A&P 1. Will definitely be taking his A&P 2.
He made very clear powerpoints and said everything on a test or quiz could be found on the powerpoints. I never once used the textbook, even though I was using it everyday in my Bio168! His lectures weren't ever helpful to me, but his powerpoints could be read through like a lecture.
Professor that knows his stuff but on the flip side, a little compassion is helpful for students who struggle in one way or the other. Words can kill or lift up. If these matter to you, then stay out of his class. PowerPoint are packed with negative things like zombies, vampires and irrelevant jokes. There are nice jokes too. Talks too fast.
Don't. Do yourself a favor. I don't mind the reverse classroom, but his tests are difficult. He likes to make up his own (unclear) questions in order to make you "think critically". Sure, I get that. But you have to read it the way HE meant to say it, otherwise, you're not "thinking critically" HIS way. Suffice it to say, my GPA is down 4.0 to 3.7
I graduated 2 years ago, but am taking prereqs to apply to grad school. In all my years of college, Dr. Nunez is one of the best professors I've ever had. Lectures are delivered via powerpoint and they're very easy to understand. He's funny and easy to talk to. Tests are easy if you've studied PPTs. Wish I could take every science class with him.
No extra credit, no study guides. Tests are hard and sometimes unclear. He's a nice guy, and explains things in class when he feels like it, otherwise its a ted talk or video. Lab is fun and easy. But again, his tests are not so fun. Tests usually aren't but especially his. Good luck if you do get him. I didn't have a choice. Thanks waketech.
Dr. N's flipped class room style of teaching is perfect for A&P. His see at home lectures break down the material so it's much easier to understand than the textbook. As long as you do the work outside of class you will have no problem on his quizzes/tests. If you're willing to work and want the best quality education in A&P take Nunez.
I feel compelled to dispel the haters that did not give Dr N a good rating. If you do his see at home lectures and participate in class, you will do well. If you do not want to work for your grade, then you probably shouldn't be taking A & P. Dr. N is the best teacher I have ever had. He is passionate, competent, and will make you fall in with A&P
Dr. Nunez expects students to behave as professional adults, which I appreciate very much. He is intelligent, knowledgable, dependable, enthusiastic, engaging, and easy on the eyes ^_^
Scott did a great job of making Micro lab engaging. He made me laugh pretty much every lab and he is helpful, but also expects you to be engaged and to learn. I think that is what a teacher should be. Quizzes at the start of every lab (don't be late) and the practicals are worth most of the grade. Super interesting course material.
Dr. Nunez is a great professor, he's engaging, hilarious, and truly seemed to care that we all grasped the material. He made microbiology interesting and provided plenty of clinical scenarios to test our application of the material. You can't slack off, you really get the grade you earn in his class, but it's worth all the hard work.
he's a nice person. accessible during office hours. he's willing to help as long as you are working hard and willing to learn. the tests are easy I'd say if you read what he gave you thoroughly. the class is just 1 hour so there is a lot of stuff he can't cover, you have to read by yourself. he's reasonable, not too strict. not a hard grader.
I didn't get the textbook. All of the info for class/tests came from powerpoint lectures which you study before class so that you are ready to interact during lectures and take quizes. You'll have to work outside of class studying the details of his powerpoints to succeed, but the tools are there. Lab is interesting. Recommend for self learners.
Nunez is an excellent, fair teacher with great humor. He treats you like an adult: personal responsibility is key here. Lessons are thru power point which you read at home (book is not needed), class time is spent going over tougher concepts & anything you don't understand. Biology will always be tough to learn, go in with a hard working attitude!
professor Nunez is very nice, he's willing to help as long as you are willing to learning. he's reachable in his office hours. you have to read the ppt b4 u come into class, or you won't understand very well. he make very good ppt, so you rarely need to use the book. there's a quiz every once in a while, but it'll prepare u for the exam in fact
Dr. Nunez is still one of my favorite professors. I took him for Micro and then A&P2. You will need work outside of class if you want to keep up, but I never found his class unmanageable (I worked approx. 50 hours a week and was taking Business Stats and ENG 111 online at the same time). He was always very helpful and approachable. Highly recommend
Dr. Nunez is an awesome professor. I took him for both AP2 and Micro in the same semester. He cares about his students, but you need to show some initiative. If you read the powerpoints he gives, you'll do fine and make sure you see them before coming to class. Not much homework, he does give out study guides, but they aren't helpful. Just do PPTs.
I've taken Nunez for Micro last semester & it was awful. He is easily distracted & expects you to go over 2 power point lectures a week & each power point has a at least 50 slides. A bunch of non sense added into them, you can see how distracted he gets just in those alone. If you can teach yourself, then you're golden. He teaches lab way better!
Nunez is a tough professor and I really didnt understand the purpose of much of his lectures since none of it was on the exam. Read the PowerPoints AND the textbook. he does give pop quizzes to make sure youre keeping up.
This class was amazing to take with Professor Nunez. He is a solid instructor all around and even gave extra point opportunities during this pandemic. Book isn't required with his class. His lectures were very engaging while we had class and was super easy to talk to when needed for help. TAKE Professor Nunez!
Nunez was a solid choice for A + P II. I got an A in 168 as well so I knew it would take work to do well. Most answers will come from content covered in his PPTs or mentioned in his lectures. He's definitely eccentric but I left feeling like I have a rock solid base of knowledge. Got a 99 on my Science portion of the teas thanks to this course.
Hands-down best A&P professor I've had. He truly cares about his students, knows the material, and will go above and beyond to help you learn it. This is a COLLEGE LEVEL COURSE and we are ADULT LEARNERS so you should rightfully expect to have to do a good bit of studying outside of class. If you are doing poorly, you are not working hard enough.
Best professor at Wake Tech! He makes it very clear what will be on the tests his notes are great for prepping for the test. There are quizzes every week which are pop quizzes sometimes but if you study each subject by the deadlines he gives you are very prepared. He is very accessible and understanding of when life happens! Great Professor!
I took 159 college credits for my BS & Dr Nunez is my favorite science professor! He took a miserable subject like microbio & made it funny, easy to understand, relavent & he showed a lot of passion You'll get an A and have fun in class if you act like an adult & put in the work If ur looking for a free pass, STEM/healthcare/nursing isnt for you
Nunez was one of the best professors Ive had. Of course you have to put some effort in to get the grade you want but its nothing too crazy. Hes super chill and makes lectures more enjoyable with some punny and sometimes cheesy jokes. He also has office hours almost every day which I didnt take advantage of but prob should for a better grade.
Nunez was an awesome professor! I'm sad I didn't get to take his class in person, but he definitely made the most out of online classes. He's funny and gets right to the point, which really helped my studying because for the most part he gives you exactly what you need to know. Microbiology is not an easy topic, but he makes it fun to learn about!
I loved this class! This was my 2nd time taking Bio175 & I'm so glad I chose Dr. Nunez. He makes Micro interesting & fun & really makes the most of it having to be online. No extra credit & the book isn't required. All you need to do well is in the lectures/powerpoints. Only graded assignments are quizzes/tests. Take Dr. Nunez, you won't regret it!
I do not do well with science courses, but Mr. Nunez made Microbiology easy to learn. I get intimidated by biology so this was the third time i took this course and stayed in it long enough to finish. He's a great instructor and he communicates well with his students. Hes easily accessible which is awesome. Powerpoints are bible.
He literally posted a video saying if you don't understand microbio, you must be a bad CNA. As a current CNA, you don't need to know any of this material to be great at that job, nor are you ever required to know it; came across very out of touch. He's not straightforward at all w/ what to study & many quiz questions were not even from lecture.
Terrible. Majority of test questions were not from the PowerPoints and he had very few lecture videos. He just expects you to know obscure info. that you've never seen before. The presentations are also sloppy and many seemed out of order week to week, making quizzes a nightmare as you would be quizzed on things that would show up the next week.
Grades you on spelling AND location of specific terms in quizzes/tests. Powerpoint lectures contain many typos making it difficult to read. He does not listen to his students when they need help, all I was told was to manage my time better. Study guides too time consuming/not helpful. 2 quizzes a week, 1 exam a month. Lecture was a waste of time/$
prepare you for nursing school
You'll have to work for your grade in this class! The PowerPoints are not perfect but are extremely helpful, and it beats reading a textbook. The discussion guides are long and tedious, it's best to look at them before reviewing the PowerPoints as it will help you keep a lookout for what is important. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
Very tough grader and expects you to know all of the course material off the bat. If you ever have a question regarding the course material, you're better off asking a different professor. He almost NEVER gives you a straightforward answer, instead he just responds to your questions with a question!!
I understand that biology is hard but he made it even harder. I felt that he was lazy due to lack of communication with students & his effort on teaching especially lecture. All lectures were strictly PowerPoints. He is very tough grader & you better know every detail before asking a question. Lectures are very hard to pass.
I honestly was surprised I passed this class. He is very tough grader and lecture was very hard since he only gave us PowerPoints and few videos to go into detail of subject. He clearly loves biology but somehow can't teach it. I recommend taking someone else unless you like learning from ONLY PowerPoints (for labs & lectures).
I took his class a couple years ago at the beginning of the pandemic. He handled the whole situation really well, and it was an honestly fascinating time to be studying Microbiology. If you listen in class and make sure to study the PowerPoints you'll do well. PS I found him quite attractive, which helps you stay focused during lecture & lab ;)
Horrible. Just horrible. Tests were outrageous. A quiz every "lecture". I put that in quotes because you are given a PowerPoint to go over and expected to have 40+ slides memorized. Never really teaches. The lab is boring. Does not really care if you succeed and honestly feels like he tries to make it hard for you to earn the grade you want.
Tests are ridiculously hard. The essay questions are just dumb. He thinks you are a microbiologist already and know everything. Don't bother asking questions unless you want to feel stupid. If you want a caring professor, pick someone else. Prepare to study 24/7 & find the most detailed info on the tests. Good luck.
He's okay I guess. Only really gives lectures in lab. You HAVE to make sure to study before class since there is a quiz every class and lab. Material can be hard but if you study well you'll be good. Quiz grades do matter don't listen to others if they say they don't. Exam essay ?'s are hard so study hard! this is a study study study class :/
Dr. Nunez's BIO 175 is not easy, including a quiz in each class, several exams, practicals, and a final. However, if you follow his studying method and schedule, you'll do well because his lectures and labs are well organized and super interesting. He always inspires students and makes microbiology fun. The BEST microbiology professor!
Professor Nunez is a great professor! The material in this class can be overwhelming, but Professor Nunez makes it a bit more manageable. His PowerPoints are easy to follow and very organized. Utilize office hours! I always went back to review missed questions from lecture exams and he is willing to answer any questions you may have!
BIO IS HARD AND YOU NEED TO STUDY! He tells you the first day of class to read the PPT'S before your come in. DO IT. I found that all the info you need is IN the PPT. STUDY them and take notes on them at least a little everyday and you will do great. He does do quizzes every class, very useful study tool. I found the book to be wasted money.
I took this class before the pandemic, in person. I loved Dr. Nunez's teaching style. If you put in the effort you will pass this class. His lectures were very interesting to me. He expects you to learn and grow, as expected. Read his powerpoints before class and study to gain the most out of this class.
He makes class fun and relevant to your future career. Class is more about application, rather than acquisition of knowledge. (Do your homework!) Prof Nunez is very funny and kind, and reminded us frequently of his accessibility in office hours/over email. He prizes participation in class, so make sure you participate! Would 10/10 take again.
A well-organized and laid-out class, very straightforward and so long as you're willing to put in the work and study you'll do fine. Professor Nunez is a solid teacher whos easy to get ahold of and communicate with. To be honest, I didn't have any complaints about this course at all, Id highly recommends his microbiology course.
This was the hardest class i have taken in my college career. But if you put the effort and study you will be fine. Do you homework to succeed in his lab. He is easy to get in touch with out of class. Show him you care and you will pass.
Dr. Nunez made this course easy to understand. You MUST, MUST read the materials selected prior to EACH class. If youve taken 168/169 youre good. DO NOT fall behind, you must stay on top of every class. His exams are exactly what his as powerpoints and as long as you understand the concept of the topic you are good! DO NOT take BIO169&175 together
Dr. Nunes is one of the best, he's hilarious and he actually respond to your email quickly. U gotta stay ahead on the game, study the his slides before u go to class cause there is always a POPQUIZ and group activity. I know this sound a lil bit hard and challenging but in reality it is not, As long as u study his study guide u will be good
His teaching style is you read the lecture PowerPoints by ur self at home then discuss it in class. Quizzes every class only 5 questions very easy, helps you stay on track with material. Exams are easy as long as you study there aren't trick questions. Lab is the hardest part honestly that's what I struggled with. Nunez is a great professor.
He was the best professor I've ever had! I enjoyed this class so much, he made is so easy to do well cause he gave us all the info we needed for the tests in the powerpoints and was always there to answer questions. You go through the lesson before class and during we had a short easy quiz every day and would review everything we learned.
would 100000 recommend he actually acres about his students and is very reasonable to personal issues that could interfere with school
TAKE HIM! No surprises, he gives you everything you need to succeed in his class. Everything on the power points is fair game on the test so know them. The quizzes every class are easy if you study the lecture before. He gives extra credit on lab practicals. If you study the lecture power points you will pass every test with an A. He's the best!
Dr. Nunez is an amazing professor! While his class is challenging with frequent reading, quizzes, and detailed labs, it's worth the effort. Don't fall behind! He truly cares about his students and works hard to prepare us for our careers. My advice: attend his office hours, ask for help, focus on acing the quizzes, and do well on the labs!!
Microbiology is one of the hardest courses but Dr. Nunez makes it so much easier, he's gonna test your skills if you really know the materials and u gotta put in work in order to succeed. The tests & labs is based on his lecture slides & lab videos, if you understand the lectures and the videos you will be successful in this class. GO TAKE HIM!!!
Took him last semester and genuinely loved this class. Lecture exams are based on the PowerPoints so as long as you understand them you'll do good. He uses some of the questions on the study guides as short responses on the exam so do those too. Very nice and helpful professor wish I could take him for A&P
Great guy but doesn't lecture; you must learn material on your own for a five-question quiz each class. He teaches well when reviewing quizzes, but that's the only instruction despite being in person. Quizzes and exams are the only grades. He explains lab procedures well, but lab lectures must also be done at home. He is smart. I wish he lectured.
This class is a lot and what didn't help is that he does not lecture.. we have to go through the class lectures and lab lectures on our own and the class lectures are 50+ slides. We have 5 question quiz every class/lab and they would sometimes be very tricky. We also had 8 exams in total.. so be prepare to study a lottt for this class.
Man, where to begin. Every class/lab, you will have a 5 question quiz. This is all that will be in the grade book until your first lecture exam, so watch out for that. HE DOESN'T GO OVER LECTURE POWER-POINTS IN CLASS! This class is more difficult than it needs to be, especially when each power-point is 50+ slides (half useful, half useless info).
DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THESE OTHER REVIEWS!! I swear he is writing them himself. This was the worst class I have ever taken. Only tests and quizzes, he sets u up for failure (40 multiple choice and 8 written essay questions in 50 min) He is rude and doesn't teach at all! Choose anyone else!
He does not set you up to do well, he can be nice one minute and mean the next. He does not actually teach at all. Get ready to hate your life if you join his class. I wish there had been more accurate reviews when I registered.
You will teach yourself this entire course. The workload is relentless with constant quizzes, brutal exams, and essay questions graded with zero grace. The professor's attitude shifts day to day and comes off as condescending, it's an exhausting and unpleasant experience that will seriously hurt your GPA. Proceed at your own risk.
this professor does not set you up for success. worst professor ever. i feel so defeated, I wish the ratings were correct when I decided to take his class.. I am so disappointed. Do not take him unless you're ready to teach yourself and study for 8 exams.
Ok, lets get this straight if you want a professor that not only doesn't teach, but also is so degrading and walks around the room while taking exams and makes you feel absolutely STUPID, my advice to you is take this class. He also talks to himself like literally makes side jokes and comments and he is the ONLY one that laughs, i wish i was lying.
This class made me question all of my life choices i cant express how much i loath him. He is the worst teacher i wish u well in h e l l if u take it.There arnt enough words to describe the suffering u WILL endure Yes its dramatic but trust me when i tell u this if u do not heed this warning u will think of me in a few months®ret not listening
I honestly loved this class. You take notes on your own time, and have a daily quiz every lecture period. It's pretty easy as long as you take notes and come to class prepared. He gives a few points extra credit on some reports and tests.
Prof. Nunez is AMAZING. He cares about students & is accessible after hrs for questions. He will meet you half way. He is not rude; he is funny and sarcastic. THE PRESENTATIONS AND STUDY GUIDES ACTUALLY PREPARE YOU FOR THE TESTS. Read them. Listen to his study tips and be ready to put in real effort. Micro is hard, he made it fun and enjoyable.
