i got a B, and i did a fair amount of studying. you gotta come to class, one paper due. it is a good class.he is a musican, so he makes the class kinda interesting. do homework, read the chapter- you'll do fine.
I took a class of his years ago, but he was a very cool guy. I don't know how people could say he's hard b/c his class is cake compared to anything I've taken at UF.
Good prof, can be a little spaced out at times, but not in a annoying way.
Great guy :-) I give him a lot of credit for "swimming with the sharks". He is doing an awesome job!
Verrrry boring but pretty easy. 4 tests is all your grades are based on, the lowest is dropped, even if its the final.
easy course..just read
Definitely a great teacher, very enthusiastic about the subject, makes it interesting, very easy tests.
Great teacher, loves what he does! I'm absolutely despised history until I took his course. He puts a great perspective on things. Doesn't focus on Names and Dates, but more so on influences.
Siegle is an exceptional teacher. He tells you exactly what to expect- is not as concerned with exact dates as he is with understanding the overall concepts (whew!). Obviously loves what he does and takes pride in his students when they succeed.
I read and studied and still failed the first few tests, Then i withdrew! get out while you can. Very boring and hard to stay awake!
Mr. Siegle was a helpful teach. I hate history and just couldn't get into it. There is no term paper required and the only homework is to read.He provides a study sheet that you fill in.and he is willing to stay after class to help.
Good teacher, but since there is only 4 tests it's a little difficult. Gives extra credit that's worth 10 points on every exam. Relates current events with ones in the past. Shows videos, music, and handouts. Overall, a cool guy.
VERY COOL GUY! He's a great teacher. I always hated history and would fall asleep but he's great! Really interesting and brings history alive! He shows a lot of movies, and music, a has class discussions, gave me a 'B' when I should've received a 'C'
I am taking the class online and it is easy. You must read the book, the Power Points help. There is NO paper; you can answer questions he posts for extra credit. There are 4 tests, he drops the lowest grade, even the final, & grades on a curve. He is helpful, but slow in responding to email.
Very cool teacher. I hate history but his class was great. You have to read the book and the study guide basiclly tells you whats on the test. Test are multiple choice and he offers about 2 extra credit assignments. He shows videos & pictures which are very helpful. Test are pretty basic. If you try you'll definetly pass
BRIAN IS AWESOME!! I took western civ online - it was pretty easy. Just read the book, look at the powerpoints and you're set (if you have a decent memory). Brian is an extremely cool guy, you should want to become his friend.
HARD TEACHER!!!! DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!! LOL.. HE GIVES STUDY GUIDES AND HIS LECTURES BASICALLY MEAN NOTHING!! THE READING IS YOUR RESPONSIABLITY. AND HE DOES GIVE EXTRA CREDIT!!! THAT WAS THE ONLY GOOD THING. THANK GOD I PASSED THE CLASS. HISTORY IS DEF. NOT MY SUBJECT AND STILL ISNT!! I DIDNT THINK HE MADE IT INTERESTING AT ALL. I FELL ALSEEP.
Brian is a very good teacher and knows his stuff. He let me borrow his honors text book till mine came in the mail. And the other rater is right, he makes you want to be his friend. He calls you back, emails you, and helps you with anything you need to pass. Summer is harder, not as much in depth, but take his class. Top of the ladder. READ!
GREAT TEACHER VERY HELPFUL; THERE ARE REVIEW PAPERS THAT HE GIVES TO HELP YOU PASS THE TEST OVERALL A GREAT GUY AND TAKE THE CLASS!!! YOU'LL LEARN A LOT!
Great class!
Great teacher in so many ways! This guy makes life so much easier. He gives great test reviews and makes you want to learn history. It was a very easy A.
Nice guy, but his lectures and presentations in class are almost completely irrelevant to the material covered on the test. He gives study guides that cover all the test material so if you thoroughly cover the study guide with the book, you'll do fine. If you're looking for an easy A this probably isn't for you.
Pretty interesting teacher. Almost none of his lecture is relevant though. I had to really use and study with the study guide before each test. Definitley involves studying.
If you need a history credit, take him! He loves what he does and his class reflects that. 4 tests that come with precise study guides and your lowest is dropped. Class can be boring, so I might suggest taking it online. This was an EASY A!!!!
Great teacher, fun to be in class. Not too hard but not easy at all.
I really liked taking Mr. Siegle, although sometime the lectures are not directly related to the material, they do make you think in another way which unlimately helps for the test. Gives a very good study guide for each of the four tests and will drop the lowest grade at the end.
Excellent teacher, uses lectures with media. Must read textbook - 4 tests non cumlative - worst grade dropped. hardly any writing - he gives class notes on his website and lets you know in advance what is on the test. Easy to make an A, but must put forth effort. A really nice person too, makes class good.
Had Prof. Siegle for AMH2010 and 2020. Great teacher. If you really want to understand what happened in the past to this country, you should take this class. I was soooo unclear! He makes it understandable with youtube, handouts and documentaries. Pay attention and don't let the young brats in the class bother you ... he will stop any nonsense
I had Prof. Siegel for AMH 2020 in Summer II. He was really cool n laid back. He like to use movies, songs and other things to make u feel like apart of that time in history. Make sure u read all of the chapters and complete study guide. The grade I got was good but I would have got a better one if I would not have slacked. I recommend him 2 NE-one
This was an online course and you need to get everything done. He gives you everything you need to know you just need to have the time to do it. He helps you like I have never seen before. He was GREAT!!!!
Prof. Siegle is one of the best at Irsc. He is so passionate and helpful, and genuinely cares about the subject as well as the students. I took 5 of his classes for my electives B/c i enjoyed him so much. Easy Class, drops lowest test out of 4,offers extra credit, all you have to do is fill out the study guide. Great teacher, great class!
fun class
GREAT teacher. class is alittle boring, but it is history. Tests are over 4-6 ch. and he gives study guides for all of them. You MUST read and do the study guides to do well but if you do you will do fine. All tests are scantron and he is not concerend with exact dates, just wants you to understand the material. TAKE HIM!!
I took his Internet class. He posted discussion boards that were very helpful. He is a very honest teacher that constantly is updating us via email. He sends links and helpful hints. The only problem is that Internet classes are all book work.
This guy so cool his class is just absolutley fun. Take my advice u should take his class it's fun and easy. Just don't get on his bad side he will stop class to talk to u. This guy is really cool he gives good notes and good lessons. Lots of people go into his class and come out with an A. He's fair and gives extra credit. ENOUGH SAID! SIEGAL FAN.
Absolute best professor at IRSC! History comes to life. Smart and creative. Music, film, art and surprises keep lectures educational and entertaining. He knows his stuff so be prepared. Study guides and slides are useful but you must read the text to succeed. Very rewarding and most applicable for real life. Coolest class ever! SIEGLE FAN 2!!!A++++++
Excellent teacher and interesting class. Take this class.
Understanding the book and incorporating his reviews was not a simple task
I do NOT recommend this class at all. If you do decide to take it, just skip all the classes except for the test and read the book to pass, Sitting in his class was a waste of time. Nothing he talks about is on the test.
Great teacher, very helpful and easy to talk to. Extra credit. Got an A.
When given the study guide know every bit of information behind that term. Do not just think the significant part is the only part to study. Class was ok, but ALOT of HARD work. You will not pass if you do not read.
I love this class, it is different and fun. You have to study from the book, but class notes help. Excellent Prof.!
He is an aesome teacher and knows his stuff but I wouldn't take this class in person. His lectures are pointless, all your information comes from the book and the study guides he gives you. The interenet is the best way to go!!
His teaching skills suck. Just read the book and do the study guide and you should be okay. Actually, just don't even bother taking his class. Your paying for it right, so you might as well get something useful out of another class. LEARN.
I took both AMH2010 and AMH2020 with Prof. Siegle. I thought his teaching style was great. What students don't get is that he encourages you to think on your own, not become a robot and just absorb facts. Learn the reasons behind the events, the cause/effect. His teaching style grooms students to become better thinkers and overall better students.
Really bad teacher I took him in the spring and out of 70 students only 20 passed . The worst teacher ever .The test questions are impossible to answer he gives you a study sheet but its pointless BEWARE !!
horrible teacher...don't ever take him especially if you hate history. his study guide is pointless. i haven't learn anything in his class. his so called extra work are super hard and makes no sense at all. i honestly do not even know why he still employed
I enjoyed Mr. Siegle's class much more than I anticipated. He makes connections between events in history and today's world. Most of the students in his class don't care and that is why they do not pass. The study guides fit his tests perfectly. Read the book, take a few notes ON THE STUDY GUIDE TOPICS and you will do just fine.
wow...if you do not like history then you will not like it even more...i never passed any test and i would study really hard...and his stufy guides are too broad...
Speaks in montone voice. Says "uh" a lot. Study guides given for each test. Good because you know what you need to know. Bad because they don't help.
Online class. Good teacher, four tests and essay questions that he uses to boost your teat grades. Drops your lowest test grade. Liked the class and Prof. was prompt and clear.
Prof. Siegel is a great instructor!! His teaching skills are great because he helps you to relate I am not a history buff by any means, and he made it interesting to learn about it!! Must read your book, listen in class, and do your study guide!.... (Look at the whole picture)
A great teacher ans is very helpful.
i found this class very boring! fell asleep a lot. only went and did the study guide in class and passed his tests. i don't recommend this class
Terrible teach by far! Everything he says is similar to a foreign language because it leaves you dumbfounded. You might as well take this class online and teach yourself because that's what your going to be doing the whole semester!Rediculous teacher/very aggravating and makes smart remarks.save your money or try another teacher I would recommend
awesome teacher. before this class I dreaded learning about history. he made it easy and brought in many different styles of teaching, from music to videos. Read the material and its easy.
I have taken Prof. Seigel online and in person, he was a fun teacher. Read the assigned chapters and follow the study guide and you will get an A!!
Let me tell you up front, I HATE American History, so the fact that I would recommend this class is saying something! The subject still bored me, but Siegle tries to keep it interesting, and he's open to have pre-class study sessions with students. Only 4 tests, no pop quizzes or papers. I ended with about a 78/79, bumped me to a B. Awesome!
Good teacher all together, just study the note, he has them on the school web site, not very good at putting extra credit in, like to make you write essays and random history books.
i really dont know him.. someone can give me his irsc email to contact him?? i need talk to him and i dont know how!! thanks =)
Mr. Siegle is a great instructor, very helpful, and generally a really good guy. Easy to talk to, and helps his students a great deal.
He is a great teacher! I wish I didn't piss him off. I enjoyed his class.
Siegle is a great instructor that doesn't just recite out of textbooks. He puts things in a context that is tangible. Very down to earth and kind.
Prof Siegle is very passionate and enthusiastic about teaching history. I came into AMH2010 hating history and now I am taking AMH2020 with him again and loving it. Just read the book as he teaches, go to class, and do study sheet. You will do fine.
Very good teacher. He knows his stuff when it comes to history and I love the way he adds music and history clips into the class lectures. I started watching the history channel because of his class. I wish the student who text and facebook it during class saw the same in his teachings
Prof. Siegle is an AWESOME TEACHER!!!!He is very enthusiatic about teaching. Shows clips, plays music. Just Read the book, Do study sheet and go to class.
Dr. Siegle is a very good teacher. Doesn't make you memorize names and dates, but rather teaches a "bigger picture" approach. Class is easy IF you read the chapters and fill out the study sheets. Not and easy A, but easy to obtain IF you put in the work. Read the chapter before class. He'll like you if you CONTRIBUTE and ask questions during class.
THIS IS THE WORST PROFESSOR EVER.HIS STUDY GUIDES IS A LIST OF EVENTS AND NAMES NOT HELPFUL AT ALL.HIS LECTURES ARE SO BORING HE PLAYS BORING CLIPS FROM YOUTUBE.HE IS BORING AND I HATES HIS CLASS WHEN HE LECTURES HE DOESN'T SPEAK LOUD ENOUGH SO ITS HARD TO HEAR HIM HE SPEAKS LIKE HE IS MUMBLING. I WOULDN'T REFER HIM TO NO ONE DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS
Great teacher! If you study, you will do well. 4 tests, 1 gets dropped and extra credit available. Responds quickly to emails. Would highly recommend.
AWESOME! Very clear as to what he wants. Do the discussion board. only 4 test and your lowest score gets dropped. Responds well and is very nice! RECOMMEND 100%!!
I liked his online Western Civ class so much that I'm taking the second one with him next semester. He has good study guides (using the Powerpoints to fill them in helps) and sends out emails often to keep everyone up-to-date. The class itself is interesting and the exams are not too bad. He offers extra credit opportunities.
HORRIBLEEEEEEEE!!! he is the most boring teacher known to man kind. YOU WILL fall asleep in his class. I seriously learned NOTHING. His test were the same topics on the study guide except what he tested you on wasnt in the textbook and he doesnt teach it. You will NEVER show up to class because he makes you sign a sign in sheet and you will be very
Prof. Siegle is an EXCELLENT teacher, one of the BEST I've across. He's smart, funny and well informed. I'm from a foreign country and now I'm fascinated by American history. He tells amazing stories about the events in history -- so much so that I've since read up outside of class to learn more about some events. I HIGHLY recommend him.
Prof. Siegle is an EXCELLENT teacher, one of the BEST I've come across. He's smart, funny and well informed. I'm from a foreign country and now I'm fascinated by American history. He tells amazing stories about the events in history, so you understand what motivated the people of that time. I HIGHLY recommend him.
Great professor. Interesting class.
Highly recommended. best history teacher yet!
Amazing teacher who obviously loves what he does. Thoroughly enjoyed his class. He uses video clips, music and pictures to bring the subject to life. RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE!
Fabulous teacher who obviously loves what he teaches. Highly recommend this class.
Great professor. If you use his study sheets while reading the book its an easy A.
Great class. Great teacher.
This teacher was very clear bout how to approach the class and all the tests. I had this class online and it is very important to read every chapter and write down key points for the study guide. Alltogether, it was a good class and I learned a bit about the early 1900s.
Good Professor! He shows videos and even plays music in class. He is funny (sometimes). Sometimes doesn't go over everything on study guides. Gives tons of extra credit opportunities. Cares a lot about history. SHOW UP ON TIME! He hates it when people show up late. 4 tests, drops the lowest, fairly easy if you study. Overall a good teacher.
Easy class as long as you strictly follow the given study guides and READ THE BOOK. Unfortunately, Mr. Siegle's lectures are rather useless, yet attendance is mandatory. Be prepared for loads of irrelevant media, extreme boredom, and an easy A.
Passionate about subject matter and shares video and music clips as well as assorted handouts to help round out the cultural aspect of each period. Read the book, study the PowerPoint slides and the study guide he provides. With reasonable effort, you should do well. If you're a slacker, there are 'opportunities to excel' to help boost your grade.
I've had Dr. Siegle for Western Civ 1 and 2 online and plan to take him for 3. He is nice and answers emails quickly. He also provides good study guides for tests and offers extra credit. His classes are interesting and sometimes he sends out funny emails that relate to what we're learning. I recommend him for any history classes that you need.
How can you dislike a guy who wears a Charlie Brown necktie? I don't know why some people say he's boring. He keeps a long class interesting with videos, music, slides and handouts. I've already signed up for his AMH2020 class. As a history Prof, he rocks.
Boring class and he treats students like children.
I took internet class. His study guides are spot on for the test. Do the work for the study guides and the ques on angel for extra credit and you will know the info and get a good grade.
Loved this internet class. I screwed myself up by not studying for the final and it brought my down from almost an A to a C, but that's my own fault ! This teacher is awesome. Great chapter outlines and extra consistent extra credit, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT! The book is required for the extra credit. He drops your lowest exam grade out of the first 3.
One of the best History professors out there! Gives you a study guide and as long as you read the book you'll do fine. Also, gives extra credit. Great person
He is by far the best history professor ever! He is extremely smart and knows his stuff. He gives you study guides for each test and gives extra credit. Seriously if you have a hard time with history take him.
Great professor, material is covered in class and simplified into a study guide. Straightfoward exams.
Take him! I promise you he is one of the best professors at IRSC. As long as you read the book and do the study guides you'll do fine + he gives Extra Credit. What is nice is that he has over 80 students in class and he still knows who you are if you are walking around campus next semester.
He was clear in his expectations, and the passion he has for History is obvious. Tests are tough, but easy to pass if you are listening to lecture, reviewing powerpoints, and reading the chapters. Great teacher, highly recommend. If you got a poor grade, it is because you did not try. College, people!
Has a passion for teaching, his syllabus sums up the course. If you read the chapter, look through the study guide, your bound to get a good grade in the class.
I would not recommend him at all. His lectures are not helpful, and he used a lot of clips and song that had no effectiveness in helping with class material. I read my book and had well constructed study guides. His test are not straight forward, so these are the things that will help you on the tests. This is how you will pass his class.
He provides study guides for each of the exams and drops one of the first three. Just read through the book and highlight and take notes on the topics on the guide and the test is straight forward. Awesome online class!
He is upfront with his expectations. He provides study guides for the exams and they are straight forward. In addition he drops your lowest exam grade and provides extra credit. Awesome online class! I will take him again!
Took Summer 2 online and it was a bit hard. The study guides did NOT match up with the Exams. Only half of the info matched up....which was annoying. His "powerpoints" are NOT helpful at all. The Discussion questions are a HUGE help----extra credit!!! Just make sure you answer all post "in your own words"....take IN CLASS instead.
Took him for summer2. It is not his fault history is challenging. You need to read the book. His study guide does not mean he will ask the same questions. Take note of the events that surround the the study guide questions. He tried not to make the class fall a sleep. He's approachable and one of the nicest teachers at IRSC.
Siegle is a great professor. Biggest problem is the class contained 70 students mostly disrespectful dual enrollment kids.Something Siegle should take up with the administration though, is the American Pageant book is not factual at all. Overall Siegle is an awesome professor who knows his stuff, and students need to be more respectful towards him.
Took online. I did find Western Civ to be more interesting than American History. Read a few pages EVERY DAY while completing the study guide. Read over your notes each day as you complete more. Study them several times before test day. Put in a GOOD effort to discussion questions. Easy A for me, but I STUDIED. No study? Then no A - it's college!
Very nice teacher, which I would have taken him for amh2010. Read the assigned chapter and the study sheet you ill pass his class, it is not hard at all.
This professor is the worst I've ever encountered. The study guides are VAGUE and the tests do not correlate with the information you are expected to learn. He constantly goes off topic, and you spend a good majority of the class watching videos that have almost nothing to do with the test or material. You're grade is based soley on tests.
this was the worst teaching experience I have ever endured in my life. I have taken hard classes. I have gotten A's in those classes. I am not lazy. I do my work. This guy is the worst most detached teaching experiece ever. He has useless powerpoints. Doesn't take in any student consideration. Bad study guides. terrible learning aids...
Worst professor I've ever had. Worked so hard to only pass with a low C. Do not take if you value your grades.
Took this class online, he lays everything out nicely. Siegle is a good communicator and expects you to provide college level work. Discussion questions work as extra credit for tests however, these must be answered in your own interpretation. Study guides do pertain to the test if you really read the material and find the info for the guide.
Do not take his class if you have a learning disability. He frequently forgot my exams and it literally took WEEKS to find out my scores after the rest of the students. EVEN AFTER I emailed him multiple times about it. Also, he shows youtube videos are completely irrelevant to the class and his study guides are very vague. READ THE TEXT BOOK!
It has been a few years since I took both AH classes with Mr. Siegle. I will not forget my last class, on the last day, when we were reading silently about the origin of "Taps". He began playing the song on a harmonica. Chills and dead silence. He created a strong AH interest for me. Not the best fit for the immature. Appreciates those who care.
Not a bad teacher, if you are bad at history i would not recommend him. He is pretty boring and shares a lot of pointless information and videos. His study guides are okay and his test are not to hard if you just use some common sense. Overall not bad but would not recommend if you were bad at history
Great teacher. He makes sure you understand the topics and there is no actual class work. Just show up and engage yourself in discussion. He uses the text book, power points, and also shows videos and plays music that relates to the current subject. I learned a lot and appreciate teachers like him.
He is the worst teacher I have ever had. No point in attending his class..what he teaches is never on the test,I am an A student and have gotten all F/s on his tests. He even will tell you what he's teaching isnt to the test and you have to read to know what will be on it. MUST READ THE BOOK, he is really horrible I regret taking this class so much
He is a good teacher but you have to rely on your study skills to pass. He likes to use videos and songs to help but it doesn't. Don't talk or text while in his class, it drives him nuts. Overall he is good he if you care enough to study. In this class you have to earn you grade not hope for the best.
History has always been hard for me. H made it clear for what you needed to know. I worked hard to earn my A if you don't study say good bye A but if you study and do the work you will pass! Follow his study sheets and make use of the textbook materials such as the quizzes and crossword puzzles they help a lot. Do the discussion board big bonuses
I took him online and never even ordered the book, got an A. DO THE DISCUSSION POSTS. I did the discussion posts by pulling the answers to the questions off the power point. study the power points and use the companion website. the test questions are mostly about women and religion quite annoying but thats what history has become.
He is a nice person to have a conversation with and he is helpful, but if you want to take his class you better watch the history channel in advance and glue yourself to that book. The review sheets are not helpful.
Skim through the book, attend the lectures and you'll get a great grade. I found him to be funny (if you like a dry sense of humor) and very topical. He makes history relate to everyday events. He also tries to take you to the time with a variety of videos, hands on presentations, and music. I would take him for every class if I could.
Easy class if you read and take notes. He gives you the topics that will be on the test. Shows lots of clips, and plays music.
A great professor!! He responds to emails quickly and s always willing to help! Do the study guide sheets and the Discussion posts and you will do fine. I am dual enrolled and took six classes this semester and Professor Siegle was very understanding in allowing me to take the final early if needed. I would definitely take him again!
Read some comment somewhere about not needing the book. Crazy. You need the book! I really hated the way the questions were written for the tests. Not sure if he wrote them or not. TONS of reading! Do the discussion topics! Sometimes bumped test up a whole letter grade. I didn't use slideshows much. Just read and took notes from study guides.
Great professor and very friendly! The key to passing prof. Siegle's tests are to follow the study sheets, not necessarily copying his power points.
Great professor, used music, video, photos and memoribilia to bring subjects to life. Knowledgeable, funny. Class was enjoyable. I wish I could take a class with him again.
Lots a reading, use the study guides! Prof seems to really enjoy the subject matter. Posts were easy enough, not too time consuming.
He knows his stuff, but he also lectures for the entire class. Does not really engage students. His tests are okay, kind of can get tricky. The book is needed 100%, without it you will fail. His power points and study guides are useless unless you read the material.
Read, use study guide. He's witty, funny and really cool. I enjoyed his class a lot. I wish he taught more, I would take him again!
Very cool teacher! Very helpful if you just talk to him about your issue. NEED BOOK. Only 4 test and 1 paper due. Offers "opportunity to excel" (Extra credit)
Prof Siegle is a very fair. If you read the chapters, follow the study guide, and answer the questions (POST) you will do find. Two thumbs up !!
Completely useless. Nothing that was discussed in class was on the test since all he did was go off on tangents and show pointless videos.
Over all a moderate class. Lots of reading(10 ch). Took it as Summer II course & you have to go in to take 4 different proctored exams(one of which is dropped). One exam every week & a half, which can be inconvenient, but I was able to arrange to take my first exam early. Straight forward: Discussion, Study guide, Exam, Repeat. Recommended!
Honestly, the class bored me to death. He requires that you attend class, but I could have done just as well if I only read the textbook. He is a really nice person and he tries to make the subject relatable and interesting but I just could not pay attention. If you do the study guides and read it's a pretty easy class.
He is a great teacher all around, very nice and easily relates to all student. Only downside is he is too nice. Should have been harder on less desirable students.
Prof. Siegle offers a very high quality learning experience. Students are expected to read and make connections on their own at home, and then participate in engaging class discussions, which are brought to life by relevant presentations of audio clips, movie/documentary clips, photographs, and primary source documents. He is very fair and helpful.
Awesome guy & Pretty funny! Course used the book mostly with medium reference to the PowerPoint's. Classes seemed long but history is what it is. I was more interested American History after taking this class. 4 tests, lowest ONE of first 3 dropped. Final mandatory. Opportunities to excel (EX CRED) helped immensely. Got 3 C's on tests+EC= B grade.
This class is tough if you don't put forth the effort in completing it. He does only give 4 exam's a semester which is tough on your grade if you don't pass them, one grade is always dropped at the end but you must do the extra credit when it's offered.
His lectures are long but their full of useful information. He doesn't talk too loud so you might want to sit up close if you have a hard time hearing people.
Nice guy, however, his lectures are all over the place he jumps from topic to topic and includes some useless primary sources like videos and audio. Tests aren't really an issue. Sitting through the entire class wo sleeping is the hard part.
His class... I mean his lecture is pointless. There is no need to attend this class if you have the book and internet. He gives each topic that will be on the 4 exams you take but barely talks about them in class. His test questions are worded very odd and I can never get above a B even when I study for hours. Plays useless music and videos.
Professor Siegle while friendly in my opinion has pointless lectures. The only useful thing you get from class is the study guide for the next test. He hardly EVER explains the things on the study guide so you have no choice but to look for the answers in the text which is fine but you'll spend 2 and a half hours sitting through pointless lectures.
Read the book, pay attention in class, and do the study guide is how you pass this class. Its really that easy.
I would not recommend this professor he is very tough. I studied for hours and still could not make over a D on the test.
He is one of the best professors I have ever had, he gets jumpy at times, but he flat out tells you what will be on the exam. Get the book, find the words that are on the study guide and study the information. He cares about his students and wants everyone to do well.
very nice prof.
Class was great I was worried at first with only 4 tests and 1 small paper to make up your grade but tests are easy as long as you complete the reading. Extra credit option for EVERY test including final. Need the book and you will read a LOT but it is totally worth it. Paper is easy! Awesome Professor!
Very difficult .
Extremely hard!
Only 4 Test and gives a sudy guide! basically you have to teach urself.
I was surprised to read the negative reviews. I took his class online, in the spring and I think he is a great professor! Lots of reading, but to be expected. However, he is nice enough to give an accurate study guide, and extra credit. He returns emails, and wants his students to do well.
I don't understand why the comments are so negative he is an extremely nice Prof and emails back quickly. Even though I ended with a 77 and I was scared to ask for extra stuff to get an B he is good and helpful and gave me my final exam grade when I asked. Ugh just wish i did not get a C messed up my GPA : brb Crying downside read a lot
Great teacher! Gives a good run-down of every chapter and plays helpful videos. Gives extra credit opportunities and is willing to help. Also gives study guides for the tests so unless you don't bother to read you should have no trouble passing. His lectures were very informative, overall fun class. If I didn't love writing I'd probably do history
Don't take save ur gpa
I liked going to this class, his lectures described history well and gave you an idea of what society faced as it progressed. He gives you a study guide for all the tests. He interacts and asks questions in class, but hardly anyone cares or answers, which made me feel bad. You can learn a lot from history...
He is horrible, learned nothing. Needs to retire
Actually, I'm here in this class, writing his review. Overall Professor Siegle is Pretty great. His primary sources are really interesting! So, if you like history, you'll enjoy Brian Siegle.
Many people told me that this teacher was hard & just horrible, but I found him very nice & easy. It was online so I am not sure about in person, but I recommend him for this class definitely!
There really are two types of instructor, the data point sticklers and the conceptually focused. Professor Siegle is the latter. If you read the material before class the lecture holds considerable value and is well delivered. If however, you read post lecture the course will be difficult. His class requires a mature attitude and IMO is great.
Grades only test, givers extra credit ,really need to read before you get to class, no homework, just needs to study( flash cards and you tube helped me), He also gives handouts to help. If you get low grades on tests don't freak out just do "extra credit" try to do the max which is 2 that's the most he will allow but it helps ur GPA. I promise.
I felt this class was the biggest waste of time, his lectures are very boring and his voice puts you to sleep, he trys to make it "more interesting for you" but really he gives you a bunch of useless info that is not on the test You must have the book or you wont pass, he gives a study guide which will save your life, just read and stay home
His voice creates major zzz's. Its hard to stay focused when his voice is so drained and boring. I honestly don't understand why its mandatory to go to the class; everything we need to pass the test we do at home. The class is easy if you read and don't procrastinate. Just do the work. The only Grades are the exams.
Prof. Siegle is a very nice man unfortunately, his stuck in the past. On the day of final exam, he sits down in the corner PULLS OUT A HARMONICA AND STARTS PLAYING ON IT. He acts so strangely, like he wants to "fit in" with the teenage/young adult crowd. There are only 4 tests, and they come with very tedious "study sheets". Just memorize the book.
Not much work aside from the tests, which are not that hard if you've used the study guides he provides.
Professor Siegle was an amazing teacher. He gives bonus questions which are not hard. Some exams have 6 bonus questions added to the exam which you complete before the exam. One paper of 500 words required by IRSC. He responds quickly to emails and does tons of updates throughout the semester. I would definitely take him again. He was excellent!
Great professor for people who don't want a lot of work throughout the semester. He gives you the study guides for the tests like a month ahead of time. Didn't really have any homework, just 4 tests total and a easy paper to write. This was definitely my favorite history class I've ever taken and would take him again if I could.
Pretty cool/chill teacher, test are multiple choice. YOU MUST BUY THE BOOK. When it comes to his lectures I barely understood, I fell asleep a few time. So I basically taught myself with a study buddy. He provides a study guide for all the testes, If you do the study guide. I guarantee YOU WILL PASS. He let you drop your lowest test grade.
Great professor! Took him online for the summer and there wasn't too much of a workload. There's no homework, just four tests and an easy 500 word paper. He provides study guides for all his tests way ahead of time. He curves guys tests and also gives extra credit, which I highly recommend you do. He's a great professor and the class isn't hard.
Hes a super boring teacher you dont have to go to class to pass his lectures dont help you pass the tests. The only grades you recieve are 4 tests and he gives you a study guide which is a list of topics which you find in the book and read about . I just read the text book in class and find the topics on the test while i block his lectures out .
This professor is very difficult he does not use the textbook jumps bad and forth always goes of topic does not stay focused lectures are confusing and power points do not go in order of the class and has abbreviations that do not make sense he also does not explain anything well do not take him
Being an online class, I never met Professor Siegle in person. His push information was great, responses to email timely and use of humor in his discussion and tests made me feel at ease with the class. A little effort with the optional discussion ideas allowed for extra credit.
Prof. Siegle's onine Western Civ class was great. Clear schedule of what's expected for the semester. I HIGHLY recommend you do the extra credit discussion board questions before every exam, it helps!! Prof. Siegle himself is very respectful and wants to see you succeed. He stays in touch throughout the semester with a fun personality.
Overall great professor, straightforward class. Class consisted of 4 tests, and a essay at the end of the term. As long as you read the provided textbook and complete the study guide, you should be able to pass this class with a solid A.
He gives you a study guide of what is on the test. If you do the study guide with the book you will pass his test. However, if you don't good luck. He slightly talks about the topic but mainly plays music or video clips from that time period. He offers 4 tests and a drop grade, but he never put in the grade for the final exam when grades were due.
Most HORRIFYING class I have ever had. He really needs to rethink is career.
A lot of reading. Useless study guides. Useless and boring lectures. Did I say A LOT OF READING? On top of that not sure what to read because everything and anything could be on the test. He plays videos and music from the 1800's that do not give much information. One thing he gives extra credit, but yo have to pay for it.
YES, YES, YES, ABSOLUTELY TAKE THIS CLASS. Professor Siegle is an amazing professor. I was really worried going into this class, being that it was an EEOT course and AMH isn't my strong suit, but he's a great professor, really teaches the material, and cares about the subject. I'd recommend him to anyone.
Overall class was insightful. He uses mostly multimedia (videos & clips) that have some relevance. But be sure to use the STUDY GUIDE, 45 topics corresponding to 45 multiple choices questions. 4 tests, 1 gets dropped (can't be final, so brush up on the civil war!) classes are good but mostly he is a likable & kind person. He will help w/ questions
Easy class!! Lectures are a bit dull . He gives you a study guide on specific terms and you have to read the lecture book for notes. As long as you do that, test will be easy. Highly recommended for a easy A or B. Must put in time for notes of study guide! Lots!
Fairly easy. In class lectures didn't help me much but he gives you a study guide for every test w/ 45 terms (w/ 1 question per term on the test) & if you define each one using the book and some of his notes, then you'll pass. Theres just 4 exams & 1 easy essay. If you expect to learn everything in class dont take this, but its not too bad.
I took the 6 week AMH2020 class with him and it was the perfect way to get that class done. Read the chapters, take the 4 exams & write the final essay you'll end up with an A. When I attended class & listened to his explanations of the time period & videos he shared I did way better on the tests. I thought he was a great professor.
I have never learned so much history in one semester! He is an amazing teacher and he is funny. I enjoyed his lectures a lot and would recommend to anyone. You take 3 exams and 1 is a drop grade. Then, the final is only the last few chapters, not the entire course! You get "extra credit" which is fairly practical to do. Awesome professor!
after the first class he became horrible , he is VERY sarcastic and has a major attitude , when you explain to him that his lectures are unclear and hard to understand he became very rude and he black marks students for speaking out. also the motto " skip class don't pass is not a joke" you will fail. only 3 tests w/study guide & one essay
He's okay if you don't mind being treated like a high schooler. He'll call out someone for looking on their phone before he calls out someone for sleeping in his class. He claims to be distracted by it which I'd understand but I don't think the extra mile is needed. He's nice I guess but his voice is mellow like he's TRYING to put you to sleep. ugh
Heres the thing, he has 45 study guide terms for 45 questions but the terms are just so broad. He wants you to remember a small little detail about one topic. Its really really frustrating when youre spending hours completing it only to get a bad grade. But if you operate like that then hes for you I guess.
if you do not bring a cup of coffee or 5 hour energy you will fall asleep. his class was not hard for me at all but i taught myself everything in this class by reading the book. what he says in class will not help at all you will definitely have to read the book to get A's on his four test he has.
literally tried every tactic listed to study for his tests and I came out of each test with a 60 or below. literally do not take this class, it is not easy nor is it educational. mr siegle has his tests set up in a way which ensures you will do badly no matter how you approach them. bad teacher made me feel like a bad student... :/ AVOID THIS CLASS
Very easy going if you just pay attention and are polite while he is lecturing. Gives study guides that are just like the test and plays music videos that relate to the subject. Really lenient, but students still give him a hard time. If you are a good student and you do what you're supposed to, he helps you out a lot!! Gives lots of extra cred
Light work load, Optional Discussions are for extra credit on Tests. Clear study guide and detailed Power Points are given for each chapter. Professor Siegel is insightful and Caring.
worst professor ever. at the beginning of the semester he literally asked if we thought he was as bad as his reviews and he is. he acts like a high school teacher. he relates all of his material to his family and I never learned a single thing. for each test expect to read through 4 chapters. also couldn't hear him the entire semester bc he's quiet
He gives PowerPoints that have nothing to do with the test and he gives extra credit but it didnt help . Make sure you read the book a lot !!!
4 exams and a paper. Really nice guy and gives you a broad study guide for the tests. If you put in some effort to do the study guide and pay attention during his lectures you'll be fine. He uses a lot of videos and music in class. Also, he offers extra credit which helps.
Pretty easy class if you do the study guides. The only grades are for tests and one essay . Probably the hardest professor to stay awake in class for, being that hes so soft spoken. Also dont talk in his class you will be asked to move
His class was always super informative and he always wanted to make sure we were learning the information. Funny and he really cares about what his students learn rather than just memorizing stuff for the tests. Would take again if I could.
Don't take his class! He talks so low like a mouse. Don't take his class. You will not learn anything!!!!
I decided to take a chance with Prof. Siegle, even after reading some of the previous reviews, and I am SOOOO glad I did!!! His online class was very structured, clear directions on what's expected for discussion boards , and he stayed in touch throughout the semester. I look forward to taking more of his online classes.
Good professor, but could do better. I survived this class using the apush online reviews for brief american pageant (helps from reading all the chapters) WARNING: the study sheets help, however, study them thoroughly
He is a very nice person, but his class is a teach yourself kind of class, and if you arent very self motivated then this isnt for you. He tried his best to make sure that you have every question answered, and understood, but he just doesnt teach and his test are rather hard. He gives reviews for the tests, but its what you think is important.
This professor is by far the worst teacher Ive had the displeasure of meeting. Only grades tests and one little essay at the end that barely helps your grade. If I had a cent for every dry joke that he attempted to crack, I wouldnt have to chase a degree... is severely disrespectful despite the fact that hes about as interesting as melania trump
Hes a great person but cannot teach to save his life. Only grades are 3 tests. His classes and power points are super off topic and have nothing to do with the test. Although you dont have homework, his tests are long and hard. I have all As except his class because of his heavy weighted tests. Wouldnt take him again, sorry.
In this course you have 3 test, a final exam, and no homework . For extra credit, theres one essay that counts 10% towards your final exam and 2 additional essays that are 10 points each that goes towards 2 of your lowest test grades. You get very broad study guides thats barely helps. Hes the most uninteresting & boring professor Ive ever had.
Professor Siegle is very knowledgeable on the subject of history, but is very boring lecture wise. He uses heavy lectures and videos to explain certain topics which is fine for some, but not necessarily for me personally. He did stay after class to look over my study guide and gave me constructive criticism. Great Guy, not great class.
My experience in Siegle's class was a thorough examination of American history leading to the Civil War. He was obviously quite knowledgeable on the subject and quite apt for teaching it. Those that take a course with him should expect to read the textbook ahead of class, study the terms on the guides he gives throughly, and attend class to pass.
Awful class! I like American history before this class. All he does is shows videos in class and he never answers questions. If you want to bore yourself to an F, then take this class.
helpful and takes time to meet with you.
Makes an easy class hard to pass. Also fails to put in grades & not very good lecturer. Youre better off just reading the textbook, only reason I went to class is because attendance is mandatory. Do not recommend at all.
If you take this Prof., read the textbook, learn the study guide, and meet with him after class because he will sit down and help you with your study guide. Try to guess a few terms that he will allow for the essay portion because it is a good way to boost your score if you know some extra facts about it. DON'T talk or leave in the middle of class.
Hes the worst professor Ive ever had. Hes rude, were never allowed to talk in his class. Like I had to leave 10 minutes early to go to a doctors and he told me next time to not make appointments on the days we had his class, like he doesnt understand our personal issues. I failed it and got a 58. So good look to you guys, dont pick him.
Professor Siegle is a really nice guy and really accessible outside the classroom. I would say the class is pretty easy as long as you read the textbook and look at the study guides. His class is pretty interesting. I would recommend Professor Siegle class for the people interested in learning history and do not mind reading.
Im not gonna say im the best student but this was the worst professor i ever had, he speaks real low you can barley hear what he is saying sometimes the only way I managed to pass the class was by quizletting my notes and trying hard on the test, students in this class basically taugh themeselves, I would say anyone can pass just take good notes
His lectures has nothing to do with tests, the study guides are not helpful, he makes you do extra credit assignments but never inserts them into the grade book. This professor is a nice person, but cannot teach at all.
The notes he give you for the class are a little rough there's not much there however, if you listen to his lectures in class they become much clearer. The class I had was immature and childish with no respect which was a shame because we missed out on teaching time. Overall I did enjoy the class it's not for people who don't enjoy independent work
His tests are his only grades, but it was easy as long as you study the study guide.
The only grades are the tests, but as long as you read the textbook and follow the study guide it would be a easy A. He does give extra credit, and sometimes the lecture has nothing to do with the text.
He was very boring and unprofessional. 0/10 recommended , dont take him
Ive never enjoyed history and although his class is kinda boring, he'll show videos/songs that connect to his lesson each class. He passes out a study sheet a few weeks before each exam. STUDY THIS SHEET. Mostly his only grades in the class are test and if you study this sheet you'll pass them.
Just dont take it.
Professor Siegle was really good at making information clear. This class will be easy for you if you can keep up with the work and DO NOT procrastinate. He gave us work bi-weekly, so don't wait until last week to do the work if you want to do well on the tests. He is an easy grader but studying is very necessary. Would take again !
Wasn't the hardest class I have ever taken, but it definitely wasn't easy. Got high B's on almost every assignment, even with my best effort. He is a pretty tough grader, I'd recommend finding another professor.
He is alright but he is monotone and it is hard to understand concepts.
worst teacher ever... but i took him for english. not sure if he is still teaching ENC1101, but he made things so difficult and was the haRDEST grader i have ever experienced tbh
Okay don't get me wrong, he's nice and all but during his lectures he doesn't really go over anything that's on the test. He gives a study guide but its not in depth.. it's very broad. He does give homework assignments and extra credit opportunities to help your grade.
No extra credit. Extremely unaccommodating. Straight A+ student and this is the only class I ever had difficulty with.
His classes were very difficult and he gave lectures while barely sounding interested. Whatever that he discussed was never on the test so I had to do the study guide without listening to him
-10/10 would not recommend! I am a very good student; I do my work on time and I take notes in class. I barely passed this class! His tests are very long and extremely difficult; he tests on very small details!
-10/10 don't recommend. Pick another professor not Brian!
This class was a little tough, but the professor was kind enough to give extra credit assignments so I could score more points on my exams. This class is also lecture heavy.
I do not recommend this class. Your grade depends only on a few exams and attendance. His lectures and the presentation slides provided do not match entirely with study guides for exams. The exams ask for details, the lectures just give surface level info. The class could be taken online rather than in person since the lectures do not really help.
HORRIBLE teacher. Very lecture heavy, but the lectures have nothing to do with what you are tested on. He treats the whole class like we are in Elementary school. He throws tantrums about people sleeping and talking in class and then with threaten to cancel the whole class even for those who are paying attention and have paid for the class.
I took this class in the fall and I do not recommend him. the lectures are SO boring and he talks very quiet so its hard to hear most of the time. also the lectures made no sense at all and had nothing to do with the tests he gave out. one plus is that he let us use the study guides on the exams. He would also be upset abt phones in class.
The reason I got a D in his class is because he informed the whole class (while taking our final exam) that we were supposed to book an appointment to do our civic tests and it's also a grade... He's unprofessional and disturbs the class. He would literally pick on a student and make a whole scene. Only good thing abt the class is the review paper
Just choose a online class
This professor seemed uninterested in what he was teaching and his lectures were not even about what was on the test. I had to do extra credit and score lucky on the tests to pass.
Worst professor ever!! Dont take his class.
Professor Siegle was difficult to work with, as he is very impatient and likes to interrupt class for the most minor inconvenience. Many of my friends dropped his class as they were failing it, so if you can choose another professor, please do!
Super easy course, professor taught like it was high school. Just don't be late and don't talk in his class, he makes a big deal out of both.
The professor doesn't tolerate anyone speaking during lecture hours, he will pause what he's doing and ask “got a question”. Also he will move people for having a slight conservation. Yes that's a normal thing but you may not get a full sentence in with a friend (not exaggerating). Also he tries to limit the use of the restroom. Just don't take him
