Great and fun teacher. He really helps get rid of the fear of public speaking. His class is relatively easy, just work on your speeches and study for the midterm and final and you should do great. He is very friendly, but he has a temper, so good classroom behavior is a must!

Professor Siress is a great professor. There are only three speeches, a paper, and an easy midterm and final. This class is very easy and I loved him. Too bad he only teaches at FIU over the summer. Take him in person it is much better.

I DISAGREE with these comments..so not true..I email him all the time and he replies no later than the next day. He posts our grades every tuesday..never been late except only one time it took him two weeks to grade one of the speeches...but a lot was due that same week. Too much work with low amounts of credit per assignment. 2 months in & only 1 assignement out of 15 has been graded. Rudest teacher I have had. 10 page report w/ a group partner even though its online, plus an audio narrative powerpoint. 2 writing assignments every week, plus 3 quizzes, and 2 chap to read a week. Not recommended. Pointless work.

This was my first online class and I really liked it. Professor Siress was great. There was a lot of work but it is an advanced class. FIU needs to work on its technical issues because that casued students and the instructor lots of problems.

Great guy and awesome teacher. Responded to all my emails whenever I had a question/problem and was more than willing to help. Just a great guy who shows a passion for teaching, and treating people right. Also he is funny so he keeps you interested in class.

My advice: do not take this class if you want to learn. It was an easy class, but meaningless. The professor likes to make jokes and seems to be a nice person. We didn't use the book.

Easy class if you know how to write and listen closely you will pass, bottom line. His directions were confusing at times (telling us to keep it short then saying its too short, giving us a "good" example then saying not to follow it). Had us do a group project. Gets upset if you don't show up to class. Sat us in alphabetical order, like children.

Excellent teaching and class! The reason for sitting stduents in alphabetoc order is becasue other irresponsible stduents were signing in for other stduents and forging their namesd - bad; like children! Great class and instructor - take the class!

There are ALOT of assignments that you are given each week. Its a grammar quiz, textbook quiz, a lettermemo, and an extra credit assignment. Makes you definitely work for your grade. Definitely doable though. I would recommend taking with him. You definitely learn a lot.

Really fun class and I learned a lot about business writing and giving more professional presentations.

This professor knows how to teach material without giving you a heart attack with course work. Essays, presentations (he lets the class teach), and a few tests, but nothing excessive. Highly recommend if you're looking for a nice professor and a good learning experience.

It's simple, go to class and don't come late. He hates that and will call you out for not coming since he'll learn everyone's name. His class is easy, you just write a short memo twice a week with his help. Presentation is with a partner so hope you get a good one. Just come early to class and he'll like you and help you. He is fun and easy.

This class was the most interesting and helpful I have taken at FIU - fun instructor, but make sure you attend class, participate, and be on time. I would take him again for another class. This class could be boring but with Instructor Siress it was great! Really more than I expected and I learned many new things; take it!

Cool guy. just make sure you take his corrections and do well on the letters and memos. group project is sort of difficult if you have a horrible partner. But overall, the class is good. Got an A. Didn't take notes, just needed a pearson code.

Best Damn Professor at FIU

Just a warning he had us purchase a pearson online book for the DOCUMENT SHARING. THAT IS ALL WE USED THE BOOK FOR! The book was around $150 to only use it for document sharing. Something that we could have used gmail or blackboard for. But no he made us spend $150 for document sharing. If you have $150 to spend on a book you won't use then go.

Really great teacher and always helpful - would take him again - BTW - the text book is used regardless of what someone said here - FIU requires to purchase the book and I used the book and read the assigned chapters in the syllabus and we were tested on it too - the student that mentioned the book here must have never attended class obviously .

I took a class with Professor Siress Spring 2016. He is hilarious, and the lectures are very light. A lot of class discussion, but it's super fun. You have to have the textbook or you won't pass as you have to write essays passed on the chapters every week, but they aren't that hard to do. There is also one group project at the end of the semester.

His class is SOO easy. I took it in person therefore his class was annoying. All he does is talk and talk and not teach. 3 memos, 3 business papers, 1 letter final and one group project. The memos and papers are literally done in 10 min. Super easy A. He takes attendance so you go to class to do nothing, thats the only bad part.

he's awesome! believe me, i'm terrified of public speaking, i even cried the first time after i finished but he didn't care my speeches weren't the best, he supported me and I ended up receiving a great grade. honestly take him, he'll never criticize you if you aren't good at speaking in public.

He is a great professor, so passionate about what he teaches, and the class is super interesting! He has a great sense of humor and the assignments are easy if you go to class and pay attention. Highly recommend. :)

Do yourself a favor and take this class. You can sleep through the whole class and get an A as long as you do the assignments on the syllabus. Easy grader, talks a lot about random topics. Cool dude though.

Siress is on of those professors you want to take. No matter what your learning style is, you will learn in his class, and enjoy it. He gives moderate assignments and grades lightly. It is a real good experience to take any of his communications course. I have taken 2 as of now and plan on taking 2 more.

Amazing! Helped me perfect business letter & memo & came up with a great idea for a business opportunity. He is so inspirational that you leave class that day remembering how many opportunities are really there for us. He goes out of his way to build bond with all his students. Don't skip class, its a fun time either ways& theres no need for it.

He's a great professor do your work, and he'll work with you. If you aren't 100% sure ask, he loves to explain things. He's friendly and approachable, show up to class, pay attention, and you'll do well.

Took Siress for Summer B term and by far was one of the best classes to be in. He works with his students and explains exactly how he wants the work done. There were two memos, two business letters, and a group presentation. If you do everything he asks you to do, there is no way that you'd fail this class.

Professor Siress is seriously the best! Took him for COM3461 and SPC3271, SO EASY. He likes to lecture on real world events and compares them to the chapter, there are discussions in class. He's very funny and understanding. 1 presentation, and 5 reflections on either a speech video or chapter. NO MIDTERM and discussion paper as a final. EASY A!

Probably one of my favorite professors at FIU. He's funny, very interactive with the class, never a dull moment. I actually looked forward to going to class. Its refreshing to see professors who care about their students and enjoy teaching.

This professor is great. He is very helpful. The class was online and we just had discussion posts, quizzes, and an assignment every week. Highly recommend this professor.

I take the class in Session B. I need to do an essay (2 pages long) each week, and we have a final exam. Essays are funny the topics are: visual efects in films, sound efects, acting.

Great guy, but even better teacher. He is truly remarkable when teaching and his lectures are filled with humor. He could get off-topic at times but he really cares for his students passing his class. Plus, this class is super easy and requires minimal effort. Just show up to class hand in the homework, guaranteed A.

Siress is hysterical. Show up to class, he cares about that. Class is super easy, no tests. One page essay due once a week, final online, one easy group presentation that takes up the majority of the semester. Engage in class discussions, class is interesting. I would defiantly take his class again.

Great professor, took him for intercultural communication and was such an awesome guy. really cares about his students and has a really weird sense of humor but you will pick on to it as the semester goes. If you want an easy A, take this class.

I love Professor Siress! He's so funny, energetic, and makes a long lecture class fun. Sometimes, he goes off topic and makes the class laugh but that's just his personality. The assignments are a few 1-2 page essays (super easy), no tests/quizzes, a group project (you and a partner pick a topic on intercultural comm), final is online. take him!!

I wish all Professors were as transparent and helpful as Professor Siress. Loved the class and the required book. He has a clear syllabus and schedule. If you do the work and your assignments, you'll do well in the class. He's extremely fair and gives great feedback. Take him, you won't regret it.

I took 2 classes with Professor Siress this semester (COM3404/COM3461) and he is one of the most caring professors I have ever encountered. He always left feedback on discussions and written assignments. And considering were in the middle of a pandemic, he always checked in to make sure our mental health was okay. Just do the work and youll pass!

Professor Siress really cares about his students and wants them to pass. He makes the class easy, just read the material and you will pass. I definitely recommend his non-verbal communication class, it was really interesting!

You must purchase a textbook but it is actually very interesting and honestly, you could do the assignments by just briefly skimming through the pages. He respects you and expects the same back.

Professor Siress was great. I am taking him now for remote learning fall 2020. Lectures are fine and you have short answer and quiz every week on each chapter, but super easy just have your textbook handy and pay attention to his powerpoints. Professor Siress provides examples of all writing assignments during class and will post them on canvas so that they can be reviewed. He responds to messages/emails quickly and takes the time to explain and clarify any concerns his students may have. Professor Siress encourages his students and is very supportive - he is one of the best professors.

Online COM 3461 it's easy. Do the assignments, they are fair. It's just busy work. But there are some cool topics too. The prof is super accessible and understanding. No problem at all.

He's a good professor, he's understanding and answers emails quickly. The assignments he gives are straight forward and you can use the templates he provides.

I've had him as a professor for three different courses, and not once has it been a problem. His classes have always been straightforward and it's nearly impossible not to get an A, let alone fail. Great guy and highly understanding overall, definitely recommend him.

Prof Siress is probably the most easygoing public speaking prof at FIU! The course consists of daily lectures/discussions via zoom, 2 speech analysis writing assignments, a few exams, and the main assignment of a final persuasive speech on a topic of your choosing. He's a kind prof who's super encouraging of his students, truly a pleasure!

Hes a really nice guy! This is my second course with him. Passed with As both time. This course is a bit of writing for the discussion. One passport paper. Make sure to use the book.

Paragraphs written for each question 15 questions each week get ready to WRITE! problem, till the final OMG all multiple chose questions on the stories rather the concepts we learn and its 50% of final grade smh

Professor Siress was amazing for my public speaking class. Always answered any questions I had, his speech outlines are clear and easy to use, and he's a lenient grader. As long as you try your best and show effort, you'll do just fine. He provided a link to the textbook online for free and made public speaking a breeze.

I loved taking Professor Siress. Gave great feedback and graded quickly! Also, you can really see he cares about his students. The class was manageable and easy 5 speeches, some discussion boards and a midterm and final (open books). I would take every class he offers!!

Professor Siress was great! The format of class was watch a film, discuss, and write a paper. There are two exams. The hardest part of this class is the incorporation of the textbook. It's never used during lectures or discussions, but you're required to use it in papers and the exams are word for words, so be sure to familiarize yourself with it.

Best Professor I have had at FIU. Professor Siress grades everything literally within hours and leaves detailed feedback always. I've had very few professors who go above and beyond to help you as a student, but Prof. Siress is definitely one of them. If he is an option for a class you are taking, take his class.

Professor Siress is great at communicating with his students and pretty much an easy grader. The class was fully online but was surprisingly an easy course. He mostly grades off discussions and quizzes, there's no mid-term exam just a final and one research paper. (Don't freak out he graded me pretty well) Def recommend.

Truly one of the best professors I've ever had. He puts so much energy into his lectures and makes sure that everyone is engaged. He would put movies in class and we would have to write reports on them. There were a few long quizzes but it was open book. His class was one of my favorites and I learned how to understand movies differently.

Professor Siress was amazing! He graded very promptly and always had feedback for you. He also promoted self-reflection and was extremely encouraging. This was a difficult class but in a good way. He challenged me and provided every opportunity for a good grade! I would take him again in a heartbeat!

Summer B. 2 attempts per quiz. 2 research papers. Easy assignments. You'll need the book. He's kind, a quick grader, leaves good feedback, & is responsive. His grading scale is great too (ex: A- is 93.4 - 89.5%). Idk why people harp on his grading; I followed the requirements & aced both papers. This class was a breeze and I would take him again.

Prof Siress makes this class a breeze. Lots of writing assignments, but he grades leniently. The textbook is required, but lectures cover the key points. unstuck ai is great for test prep - saved me a ton of time!

Great online professor. He can tend to grade papers a bit heavily but gives feedback, however it did seem like he took 2 points off every paper and kept descending, still and easy A. Quizzes are important to do well on, and the two box figures assignments are interesting. All in all good professor.

Professor Sires is very nice and gives great feedback. Exams were a bit tough because of the length but the overall course was not terrible. Would recommend!

One of the rare professors that took the time to develop an interesting course curriculum. Grading criteria is clear and as long as you do what is outlined it is an easy A. He assigns movies and reflections that ask you give examples of the lesson that you found in the movie. Grades fast and shows that he took the time to actually read your work.

Easy class and great professor. Only four papers for the entire Summer B session. He would give great feedback on each assignment and would even allow you to redo them for more points if you made mistakes. I 100% recommend!!!!
