This teacher is AWESOME!! He us super helpful if you ask him questions about anything. He is really positive and makes class interesting and FUN!! Tips to succeed:Go to his office hours, GO to STAT LAB, and speak up during extra credit in class!!!
This teacher is SO GRRRREAT!!! He us super helpful and really positive? He makes class interesting and FUN!! TO succeed:Go to his office hours, GO to STAT LAB, and speak up during extra credit in class!!!
Brian is the epitome of teacher! Haha, he does a surperb job of explaining the material (rivaling the director Cwiek) and makes class very laid back and comfortable by being quirky all class long. It is easy to do well even if you don't go to class all the time; go to his reviews/office hours and utilize the STAT lab and it will go pretty swell.
Nice guy. Amazingly flexible and optimistic.
Brian is funny and gives lots of extra credit. If you have to take Stat 201, he makes it bearable.
Made the class a lot of fun. He seemed like someone I would want to be friends with, in different circumstances. Definitely a good option for Stats.
Great teacher. I couldn't stand statistics and he kept it interesting enough that I still went to class. He could probably teach anything and do a good job at it. Take him if you are gonna take statistics.
Brian is a very pleasant guy, but not one of the best teachers. I frequently felt lost in his class, because he got off topic so much. He needs to work on his teaching style by coming to class prepared, and explaining things more clearly.
Brian really did care about everyone in the class and even met with me when it was best for me. He is completely random but it makes class enjoyable. If you want a dry professor who reads slides, take someone else. If you want to enjoy class, take his section.
Brian is a great teacher. Stat 201 sucks really bad and he definitely made it a lot better. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities and goes out of his way to help you with anything you need. Go to him for the projects and attend class and youll make a good grade. And bring him a Chick-fil-a chicken sandwhich to his office hours he'll love it
Mr. Brian is an excelent teacher who knows about the subject (Stats). He gave 101% of his time to answer questions in class as well during office hours. He is really helpful, knowledgeable, and self-motivated. I would recommend enyone who is going to take Stats 201, to take it with Mr. Brian. He is cool :)
Brian is the man! You don't have to go to class but you are rewarded if you do with fairly easy quiz grades. The test are a bit difficult but he will post opportunities for extra credit and if you go to office hours he really helps you understand the material. Best math teacher I have had in a long time.
Great guy, and a decent professor. Reads straight from the slides during class, but grades extremely lenient on in-class quizzes. Sometimes he does stupid extra credit in class, but overall I would recommend taking him. Make sure to go to stat lab, as well as the reviews before exams.
Best teacher I have had yet. Clarity is amazing an really helps you out when u need it. He really cares that you understand an make good grades. Almost impossible to fail!!!!
Brian is awesome. He is always willing to help outside of class, not that you'll need it because as long as you come to class, he makes learning the material really easy. Lots of extra credit opportunity, and I'm pretty sure I'll end up with an A in the class. Just go to class. Easy A.
Never had a teacher that cared about his students so much! He makes even an 8am class entertaining and will go out of his way to assure you know everything for a test and all the homeworks. Show him you care, and your grade should be pretty good. Other Stats students said they wished they had taken him so definitely take him if you can!
Brian is seriously the most helpful teach I have ever had. He goes so much out of his way to help you out that it is shocking. And he gives crazy extra credit. I made a point to take advantage of all his outside help that he offered and I will be walking out with an A (which wouldn't have happened with any other teacher).
Brian is very willing to help people who are struggling. It seems important to him that people understand what is going on. This class is not hard but it requires a lot of hard work, and Brian is excellent about contributing his time to helping students get that work done. Great teacher!
Great guy. Extremely Helpful!
Brian goes above and beyond what most teachers will do. He is extremely helpful He does give crazy in class quizzes. It would be beneficial if the In class exercises on the power point slides had the answers.
Great Instructor. Great guy. Bad Liberal.
Brian is the best professor that I have had so far at UT. He genuinely cares for his students and does everything that he can to help you understand and actually learn statistics so that in turn you will do well in the class. If you are willing to put in your time, he is willing to put in his. Definitely suggest taking Brian for Stats 201!!
Very helpful. always has attendance quizzes. actually emails back w/in 24 hrs or less, usually like 5 hrs to reply. makes videos on how to do hw. cares about students. Take him. He's awesome, hands down.
Brian is an amazing STATS teacher. really makes the class fun and makes us laugh all the time. the only bad thing about the class was that it was at 8am. i have heard from students in other classes that they learn so much just by coming to brians reviews because they didnt understand their professors lecture. when he says do the homeworks, do them!
Brian is seriously DA BOMB. He does everything that he can to make sure everything is clear and easy as it can be. I would highly recommend him, even if it is the 8AM class.
I've learned a lot. Brian's enthusiasm and encouragement are fantastic. Really cares about his students. I found myself looking forward to his class most days. Very generous with time, fast response to email. Makes it fun. Sometimes zips through things too quickly, but will help you catch up if you raise your hand.
Probably one of the best professors that I have had at UT. He makes class fun, if you show up to class you'll most likely have a 100 average quiz grade. He doesn't waste time reading from slides, he tells you what you need to know then gives a bunch of examples that are test relevant. definitely take him
Brian is awesome. He seriously made me want to change my major. He is so chill but knows SO much and desperately wants people to show up to his class and make A's. You can tell he truly has a passion for Statistics and for teaching, as well as his students.
LOOOOVE him! Really helpful...exams are kinda tough but if you work hard you'll be fine. Go to class and you should have a 100% in class quiz average.
Brian is a super helpful teacher! If it wasn't for him videoing his project help sessions, I don't know how I could have done them on my own! He is sometimes a little confusing in class, but if you ask him questions, he will do anything he can to help you understand the topics.
Brian is an awesome teacher. He is always willing to help you. He makes Stat seem easier. His class starts a 8am but it is worth it. I would recommend that you take his class.
I dreaded taking Stats, until I got this teacher! He actually cares that the students LEARN. He is always willing to help you if you're having trouble or just need help studying. If given the choice I would definitely take him again. He makes the class a lot more bearable.
Brian is an amazing teacher. This is a very tough class at UT but thanks to him I was able to actually understand the concepts. I was not cramming for exams because I knew how to do the stuff thanks to his explanations in class. He's ALWAYS willing to help students to try and help them understand and genuinely wants all his students to do well.
Brian is an excellent instructor. Although, I do not agree with having students in front of class to show their knowledge of the material (embarassing to the ones that don't know the answers, I think this approach should be used for extra credit). He is a subject matter expert who is always available to assist anyone needing help.
Very helpful out of the classroom. Helps you to actually understand the information because he doesn't read off the slides. He tells you the important information that you might actually use in the real world.
Brian is the best Stats teacher at UT!! He is in the top 5 teachers I have ever had at UT and this is saying alot because This is my second degree here. He is hilarious and really wants you to learn. He makes stats fun, exciting, and accessable to everyone. GREAT TEACHER HIGHLY RECCOMEND UT IS LUCKY TO HAVE HIM.
Best Stats teacher at UT! Very clear and doesn't mess with things that you don't actually need to know.
Probably the BEST teacher I've had at UT. Whether you have to take him at 8 AM or 6 PM, DO IT! On top of being a fantastic teacher, he has a great personality and knows how to relate everything to something students are interested in, making it so much easier to understand. He tells you what is important for the exams. HIGHLY recommend.
Great Teacher! Easy to understand and always there to help!
The best professor I've had at UT. Great person and really cares about the students learning. He is the next Billy Mays. QQ Straight Enough Outliers.
Great Teacher! He is very enthusiastic and cares about his students succeeding. I highly recommend him.
He is an awesome instructor. I took stats from another teacher at UT about 2 years ago and made a D and it was the HARDEST class ever. With him it seems so easy and I think i'll get an A! He's funny and explains the stuff very well, in a way where it's simple to understand. If you have to take stats 201 take him! he's a cool guy
Brian J. Stevens is worse at judging a game than an Olympic referee. Team 4 got screwed.
Brian is very enthusiastic and Loves statistics. He always made class fun in some way and really cared if we learned. He gave us a ton of opportunities to get help and made sure we understood everything. I really recommend taking him if you can.
Great teacher! Go to class because it's very entertaining. Should be an easy A if you halfway try. Also, stop whining team 4, team 2 ftw!
TAKE HIM! he's hilarious and an awesome teacher. and he really helps you a ton with the project. if you go to him for help he will basically do it for you! he is by far the best stats teacher.
By far the best teacher so far. He is so funny and really tries to connect with the class. AWESOME teacher. Try to have him while you're at UT!
Brian is the cats pajamas, to say the least! He is the most helpful instructor I have ever had and works extremely hard. I would HIGHLY recommend taking his class. The material isn't easy, but Brian does an excellent job at making it easy to understand. He will bend over backwards to help any student who asks. GREAT TEACHER. Makes class fun!
Brian is a FAN-DAMN-TASTIC teacher! By far the best teacher I've had. I would HIGHLY recommend taking his class. The class isn't easy but Brian will do anything he can to help you understand. GREAT TEACHER!
Brian is an excellent teacher. He is always willing to provide help to any student that asks. He makes sure that students do their part, but he is always willing to go above and beyond what is required of a teacher to help students succeed. Definitely recommend him as a professor. He's extremely dedicated and he's a cool guy all around.
Brian is such a wonderful teacher! He really wants everyone to learn stats and get a good grade. He has a great way of explaining everything and will post videos to help with projects and homeworks. Very helpful and approachable. Classes are actually enjoyable to go to because he is HILARIOUS and there's never a dull moment. Take his class!!
Very helpful professor. Great sense of humor. Makes class fun and interesting.
I had his class over the summer. Fantastic teacher. I basically made crappy grades on the first couple of exams, then I really put in effort and it paid off. I suggest taking his class, attending and listening to his lectures, then doing the homework until you understand the concepts. Guaranteed B.
Extremely easy class. Brian is super laid back and always willing to help. He makes his own tests and they are ridiculously easy. He can get flustered in class when he makes mistakes though, doesn't always know how to solve problems the way the book says, but is super intelligent and will give you an often better way of solving a problem. TAKE HIM!
Brian is a great teacher. much of the class can be taught by yourself but missing class is just your loss. he is one of the coolest teachers i have had so far, and puts more work into the class than most teachers on campus. his class isn't the easiest, but i reccomend it to everyone. he deserves a beer!
Brian is, hands down, an amazing teacher. If you're anything like me and hate anything number related, defiantly take Brian as a teacher. He always sent out help videos that basically walked you step-by-step through homework problems and projects. He SUPER approachable and just an overall good guy. Take him, you won't regret it.
BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD AT UT! He is the only teacher I have had that really cares about every student's success. He explains everything fully and sets the class up for success. If you have another professor I would definitely switch to his class instead!
Brain is the best teacher I've had so far. He's willing to help you anytime during the day and he's determined to make sure that you will pass the class ! I would refer him to EVERYBODY! Though attendance isn't mandatory it's in your best interest to go.
He was a fantastic teacher. Loved what he did, incorporated fun into it, and really cared about students. I would recommend him to ANYONE.
He is honestly the best teacher I have ever had. He shows you how to do it and then if u have any questions he makes these awesome help videos to help. AKA greatest teacher ever
Brian Stevens is one of the best professors I have had in college. He genuinely cares about the success of all of his students. Definitely be in his STAT 201 class!
Awesomeguy and teacher. So helpful in class and willing to meet whenever for help. Take him if at all possible
Brian is a great teacher who puts so much effort into making sure his stuednts understand the material. He is always offering his help whenever you need it and goes over and beyond in making practice test and help videos so you can learn better! I have an A right now && I never make A's in college math!
Brian is an awesome teacher. He's very interested in his students learning. He's very helpful by providing review packets and holding reviews. He provided a lot of help with the project. If you missed one of your homework assignments he would open it up for you. The best stats teacher at UT.
Definitely the best teacher I've had in college. His first priority is that his students learn and excel in his course. He offers a ton of extra help and reviews, so the only way you won't do well is if you don't put forth any effort at all.
Best teacher. Generally cares, easy to understand, and will help you Always!!! take take take!
Brian was very helpful and was interested in making sure each student grasps the topics. I had him for mini-term and was able to complete the work with no problems
Bryan's an amazing professor. Highly recommend him.
This man very well could be the most genuine professor I have ever had. He honestly cares a lot about his students and their drive to succeed. I had Brian for the mini term and I was unable to attend class for the last part of the term and he did a great job of communicating with me through email to answer any questions I had. He's the man!
Brian is the best! He actually e-mails you back and posts homework videos of himself walking you through it. He said his students always have the highest test grades in the entire stats department. Don't take any other teacher!
Think of the coolest professor youve ever had in your entire life and then multiply that by 1000 and thats Brian. He is so relatable and funny. He tells great stories and shows a passion for teaching. He will help you in anyway he can and wants everyone to be very successful in the class. He gives extra credit points to so take advantage of those!
Brian is the awesomest
The best professor in the history of ever. He gets everyone warmed up with some type of entertainment courtesy of YouTube before he starts lecture so being a few minutes late is never a problem. I was deathly afraid of taking Stats, but now I'm about to take another stats class! He offers plenty of extra credit opportunities. You must take him!
Brian is an amazing instructor. He is always willing to help. He gives a test review almost exact to his test. He gives all the extra credit you need for the class. He extendeds deadlines if you need extra time. He sincerly cares about how his students do in his class. I used to go to his office hours any time I had just to chill and do my work. A+
He is a nice guy, but he's a HORRIBLE teacher. He expects you to know everything already and doesn't explain anything clearly. Since he doesn't make the exams they are very difficult so I ended up failing them. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU HATE MATH.
Brian is a really fantastic teacher. I have never had a professor that cares about his students as much as he does. He is SO eager to help people understand the material. Stats is overall kind of confusing but it makes it a lot more bearable if you have a teacher that you feel comfortable asking questions to. I would HIGHLY recommend taking him.
What an incredible professor! I'm not even kidding. I could rave about this dude for days. He is so engaging with students, passionate about what he's teaching, and is just a fun person to be around! It doesn't hurt that he's pretty good looking too. If you have to take stats, TAKE BRIANS CLASS!! You will not regret it.
Best Stats teacher. Always has the highest grades for students in the department. He will always help you and will re-open hws online if you ask. He really cares about his students. Also he wears a superhero shirt everyday
Brian is really weird guy and got on my nerves in class alot, but with that said he went above and beyond to help his students. He was so helpful in office hours and extra help videos. Not my favorite lecturer but overall a great stats teacher compared to all others I've heard about. Gives a lot of extra credit and actually responds to emails!
Brian cares very much about his students. He makes it clear what will be on his tests. He tries to be as clear during lecture as possible. He answers emails ASAP and he always has a review session before his tests. I highly recommend him.
Brain Stevens is in the top 3 teachers I have had in my entire life. The material he is teaching is not easy, but the way he teaches and simplifies it makes it very simple to get an A. Brian Honestly cares about his students he responds within an hour to emails and has spent much time making homework how to videos. Best choice is to TAKE BRIAN!!!!!
Seriously the best professor at UTK by far. Take him if you get the chance just to meet the guy. He doesn't take attendance but gives out extra credit all the time, so go to class. No textbook, either. He's a super down to earth guy and will joke around and really truly help you if you just go to him and ask for it.
Brian is one of the best teachers I've ever had. It was his first time teaching 320, but he did an awesome job. He truly cares about his students.
There is no other person to take for stats 201 besides Brian Stevens. He posts YouTube videos of him DOING THE HW! Also, he gives practice exams for the tests. He's HILARIOUS! Holds extra review sessions for students and a jeopardy day in class to review.TAKE BRIAN!!!!
If you take Stats 201, Prof. Stevens is the prof.. Tons of office hours, wants students to succeed and is entertaining. His one weakness is actually his strength. He is so intelligent and knowledgable, he forgets some of his students don't know the material, which makes his lectures unclear. Great professor!
Brian is the man. Classes are always interesting and productive. He is a very passionate lecturer who actually cares whether you are learning. The bulk of the work is done online and if you have trouble finishing the work he has videos of how to do them on his YouTube channel. Make sure to take Brian for stats.
Brian is the way to go with STAT 201. If you take Brian's class, there should be no reason for you to not come away with AT LEAST a 'B'. Statistics is not an easy topic, yet Brian is willing to help at all times. He gives extra credit too for participating, so take advantage of the opportunity. It is not hard to make an 'A'. Great guy, take Brian!
If you are taking Stats 201 take Brian!! He is the best professor at UT hands down. He is very helpful if you have questions and also if you don't think you've been graded correctly he will fix it or explain why it was graded that way. You have a lot of online homework but its doable, and you have 3 projects about 2 weeks before every test.
Brian is awesome. There is no other way to put it. Great professor, and possibly one of the nicest people i have ever met. At first you don't really think you're learning all that much, but then you realize that he actually loves statistics and that you understand all of the concepts thoroughly. I feel like i actually learned something during class
Brian is hilarious. He is also very helpful. You have weekly online quizzes and he has youtube videos that teach you how to do them all. He's the most helpful teacher I have ever had and he's super cool. Take him!
Brian Stevens is the BESTS stats teacher hands down. Be active in class and get everything turned in on time, and with a little work, there's no reason you shouldn't get at the very least a high B. GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS. They are a life saver. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed.
Brian is great! Show up to class and participate and you will learn a lot and have fun!
Sometimes his lectures are more fun and less informative. This is understandable because it is an honors course. A small amount of self-teaching should be expected. I highly recommend taking statistics with Brian Stevens.
Brian is SO willing to help. He is very funny, so lectures were always enjoyed. Everyone who didn't have him would come to the multiple reviews he hosts and would talk about how they wished they had him. Need STATS??? TAKE BRIAN!!!!
Brian is by far the best stats teacher I've ever had. He takes time to really show you and make sure you understand the concepts before he moves on. Attendance isn't necessarily mandatory but you get extra credit for answering questions so it really does help. I would definitely recommend him to anyone!
All of Brian's projects are fairly difficult but if you just email him then he will gladly help out. Take Brian Stevens for any stat class you take if possible. He's by far the best professor I've had.
LOVE HIM! He is SO funny and it makes class so fun and interesting. It really wasn't too challenging of a course - he is always available for help if you ever need it. Would definitely take him again! Just make sure you do all of the quizzes but the homework literally tells you exactly how to do it!
The exams are a little hard but I think there's a curve to the class. His lectures can get pretty boring but he makes them fun. I don't recommend taking it super early or super late in the day just because you will definitely zone out. There are a lot of online quizzes but they're easy if you watch his YouTube videos.
The class material is easy, Brian is an amazing person/teacher, and the last exam isn't cumulative. There was alot of online homework and some hard JMP projects; having access to a Windows laptop will make them easier. There was clicker points in class, and some extra credit was offered. I made a C by not doing alot of the online quizzes.
Very good professor. I'm not very good at math, but this class was easy for me. Just go to class and ask for help, he will do everything he can you help you pass.
Hands down the best professor I've ever had. Brian makes class a lot of fun, he's hilarious, and he knows everything about Statistics. He does very well at connecting with students. I really wish I could find another class he teaches because I would take him again in a heartbeat
I didn't even have him as a teacher but I made a point to go to Stat lab when he was there. He is the GOAT, hands down. I can't imagine being a student in his class. Real jealousy.
There are very few instances in college where you run into a professor who genuinely cares about all of his students. While there is an obvious love for statistics that radiates from Brain, there is also an undeniable feeling that he just loves people. He actually cares about you as an individual. Too bad there isn't a 'Socialize with Brian' class.
Brian is awesome. Great teacher, great class
Great teacher for a tough class. Genuinely cares about his students.
Two words: High energy. Never before have I seen an instructor literally run around the room. He makes it rain extra credit. Brian is a people person. All hail the GOAT
You guys better be glad there's a word limit because I couldn't say enough good things about Brian. Had him for Stat201 as well & he's the best teacher I've ever had. Super nice guy & he really cares about you & wants you to succeed. The material really builds so if you get confused make sure to go to his office ASAP, otherwise you'll get lost fast
Brian is a clear and thorough teacher, and makes stats easy to understand even for students who don't have a stats background. I took him in the summer, so some days multiple chapters were covered with homework due every night. DO ALL THE HOMEWORK AND QUIZZES. They're easy ways to buffer your grade. Two tests: midterm and final. Homework heavy.
Brian is one of the best professors I have had to date. While stats is a traditionally boring subject, he makes class enjoyable.
Brian is great! He's funny and very personable. He'll reopen homework assignments if you talk to him. Tests can be hard if you don't study. He gives out study guides and holds an extra lecture just to go over the practice exam. If you email him you'll get a quick response within 24 hours usually. He's very flexible and overall great at what he does
Brian's relationship with his students is unprecedented. I don't think he ever took more than 30 minutes to reply to an email, even during the summer when he didn't have a class.
Brian is about the most caring professor you will ever have. He truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He is hilarious, if you need to take stats TAKE HIM! He has office hours about everyday which is great.
You can tell that Brian Steven actually cares about his students.. He will go out of his way to make videos , quizlets, and extra review session. I recommend him 1000%. His classes can be streamed online. Honestly, I just watched his youtube videos and his extra resources, and all my grades were over 92%. Lots of extra credit too.
Brian is the greatest prof I've had at UT so far. I've had him for both BAS320 and STAT201. If you don't take a class with him, you're missing out. And that's an understatement. He's extremely personable and he wants you to do well. BAS320 is a lot harder than STAT201, but I can't imagine how much worse it'd be if Brian wasn't teaching it.
Best professor EVER! He truly cares about everyone's concerns and helps you out to the fullest; he doesn't just give you "answers," he structures his help in a way where you can actually learn. However, if you're taking STAT207 or BAS320, GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS. Stream his videos if you miss class. Really.
BAS 320 was one of my least favorite classes I have taken at UT. That being said, Brian is one of my FAVORITE teachers I've ever had. He is extremely helpful and makes himself available for help basically 24/7. I think I would take any class he taught.
Stats 207 is very frustrating. He makes you use R studio for every homework assignment, but you're given little resources in class to do this. You almost have to go to office hours to get any assignment done in a reasonable amount of time. It was so time consuming especially during midterms and finals week and put me behind in other classes.
Warning: this is a hard class! But it is worth the struggle with coding because Brian is great! He is super chill and funny, and he gives out TONS of extra credit during class if you ask or answer a question during lecture. He responds to emails faster than anyone and is super helpful during office hours. Labs are fun and a nice break.
Brian is my favorite professor at UTK, hands down. Enthusiastic about Statistics (which is difficult), very intelligent, and cares for his students in a way foreign to most teachers. I go to his office hours every week, where he is always helpful with the homework. He's kind of a nerd, but he owns up to it so it's cool. Absolutely take him.
Brian's a nice guy, but this class is so annoying. I don't feel like I learned any of the conceptual part of stats, but now I know all this coding stuff in R studio. I'm sure his STATs 201 class is fine, but only take 207 if you want to waste your time or if this class is directly associated with your major. It's honestly just not worth it.
Ok well brian is a great teacher he really makes this class so easy a caveman can do it. Also, if you have ever watched the league tv show Brian very closely resembles Taco. With that being said imagine you had that character taco teaching your class it is a breeze. If you do your HW and go to class atleast once a week you should pass with an A.
Brian is an extremely nice guy, but his class was very frustrating. I wish there had been more structure to the class, for often Brian would go off on tangents. I never really knew what was important, and then I would just be lost for all of the assignments. Super energetic teacher, but I had anxiety the entire year due to no structure in the class
Overall this class was not an easy pass class. It requires you to work and study the material, but the material that you learn will be worthwhile. I like that there are real world applications for R. Brian didn't make us memorize formulas and regurgitate stats lingo. He will honestly try to help you understand the real world applications. I had fun
Brian is a very passionate teacher, and he really knows what he is talking about. However, some of the material goes beyond what you need for the class and you can get lost in lecture. If you go to office hours and really put time into learning R Studio you can do well in the class. R studio was a great tool to learn!
Hard class, but it's an honors course, so you'll have to definitely expect it for this one! You may stress at first, but he provides a lot of extra credit and *may* just drop some bad grades if you prove worthy as a class! He's young and understanding, and keeps it entertaining. Just go to his office hours a few times a week and you'll be fine :)
I feel like I learned more in this class than I did any of my other ones. Learning R was initially very daunting and kind of hard, it isn't ridiculous. Professor Stevens also helped a ton. We has more options for office hours than any other teacher and responds promptly to emails. I liked that the class focused of practical skills.
Brian is one of the best professors I have ever had, and it was an honor to be in the class. He is a brilliant and authentic man, one that is always willing to help out with whatever you may need. The class uses R-studio extensively, but that is one of the best things of the class. R will actually allow to learn practical and useful statistics.
Brian is one of the few professors I have had that will go out of their way to make sure you succeed. His office hours are amazing and he did not make me feel like a bother at all. His chances for EC are engaging but not mandatory. I am pretty quiet in class and did not feel pressured to speak unless I wanted to. Loved him and the class. Must Take
Absolutely the best class I have taken so far at UT. It's difficult and you do have to put in extra work to understand at times, but isn't that the point of an honors class? With the help Brian provides and the extra credit, I never worried about my grade. He encourages involvement but doesn't require it, which was great for me as a shy person.
Brian is a great professor and makes stats pretty interesting. I absolutely hated using R in the beginning, but I ended up finding it very useful in my other classes. Although the lectures were a bit unorganized, the friday labs were a nice break where we made our own data. Stats itself is pretty challenging, but the class was not too bad.
Brian cares about his students. He really want you to succeed in his class. He goes above and beyond any other professor I have ever had to respond to his students and work with them. He held tons of office hours and very promptly responded to emails. He overall was a fantastic teacher. Although R was a bit frustrating, Brian always helped us out.
Brian is a decent teacher, yet the lack of practical use of the material makes him and his class artificial at best. The online work is extremely frustrating due to the "help" sections being written in needlessly complex syntax. Summed up into three words his class is useless, tedious, and frustrating. Would not recommend taking this class.
Brian is an awesome professor and the best one I have taken so far in my college career. He cares about your grade and gives great examples on how to apply the knowledge to real world application. If you do all of the online assignments, watch the YouTube tutorials he made, and show up to class everyday you will succeed in his class.
This class is a challenge, so don't expect it to be easy. Learning R was something that I absolutely didn't want to do, but now I am so glad that I did and it has already helped me tremendously! Be prepared to work hard in this class and be engaged with lectures. You will have to utilize office hours if you want to succeed. Brian wants to help you!
Very interactive professor, not an easy class don't expect to give the minimum. Advice: show up to class, do all the online work, participate in class. The test are the most difficult part of his class. But overall he is a great professor really cares about his class and helping you understand the information. He definitely keeps you entertained.
Hey helped my friend and me in Statistics for our Biology class. The thing is he stayed over 1 and a half hours after he got off his shift at the stat lab (which he did not even have to help us in the first place since we were not in Stats 201). And he explained everything very well!
Brian is a very relateable professor. However he usually moves really quickly and I am not one to repeatadly ask questions in class (although some do) so it sometimes is hard to keep up. Also don't take this class at 8am, that makes it much harder to stay awake. I am an analytics major and this class was tough for me, you will have to work for it
I cannot express enough how much you should take this professor. I had to drop stats my first time around b/c I was failing and this man made me not hate my life. Is extremely nice and funny and actually cares. Extra points to him for his fun nerdiness, loves Harry Potter and Game of Thrones. Played Mariokart with us on first day.
Brian is the best professor I have had at UT, hands down! He is very funny but I still come out knowing the lesson. I took his online class and I loved every bit of it. If you have Brian there is no way you should fail!
If you get the chance to take Brian do it. My biggest advice is to go to office hours. He does everything he can to help you succeed. Be prepared to move through the course quickly, so stay on top of it. Great great teacher.
Hands down the greatest math teacher I have ever had. He truly cares about what he is teaching on any given day and wants every student to do well, even if the course is hard.
For BAS 320---------Great teacher for a pretty hard class. He explains difficult concepts in multiple ways that everyone can understand. Go to class, take notes and watch the lecture for things you don't understand. Read the slides before and after class and you'll get an A
Brian is possibly one of the best instructors i've had at UT so far. Stats is not a very easy subject, but Brian made it do-able. He is very caring and helpful, especially if you go to his office hours. He truly wants to see his students understand the material and succeed. On top of that, he's hard not to pay attention to. the dude is really funny
Brian is a great professor. He is relatable, honest, and has a good sense of taking care of his students so they are not overwhelmed. Extra credit options start before the class does and he has over 10 office hours a week. In the honors class you do have to do coding with R, which was difficult but he will send you code via email if you get stuck!
Brian is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is enthusiastic about literally everything, and you can really tell he cares about his students. I took the online Stat 201 class, but I went to class because I pay attention better when I am actually there. He is so funny and kind - oh and expect a lot of participation extra credit!
Awesome guy who's really passionate about what he's teaching. Get ready to learn R
Loved Brian! Very passionate and explains the material really well. Do the extra credit in class, it bumps your grade!
Brian was amazing. He is really a professor that helps his students. I would take his class again. He loves the material, and he is good at helping you understand the material.
I would have failed this class if it wasn't for Brian's office hours. He is always open and will teach you one on one until you understand the material. I went from dropping the first two homework assignments because I didn't understand the class, to finishing the semester with an A-.
He goes beyond whats necessary in making sure his students are prepared for exams
Brian Stevens is probably one of the best professors Ive ever had. He gets really excited about what he teaches and can be very entertaining. He also wants you to succeed so he tries to help out the best he can. And for that I basically would be happy to nominate him as a saint as I have never had a professor so eager to help students.
There are not enough good things I can say about Brian. I was not even in his section of the course, but regularly attended his section and office hours. Brian goes out of his way for students and is so passionate about the material. He will spend as much time as he needs to to explain something to where you finally understand it. Highly recommend.
If you have to take STAT 201 definitely take from Brian. He is the best by far. I had it online and if you watch each lecture and pay attention, you will do well in his class. Most everything on the tests come straight from lecture. Brian does anything he can to help and cares about his students. Great guy.
The best teacher ever!!! Brian is brilliant and I would recommend his class for every one. Just do the work and go to his office hours and he will help you no matter what. Respected, cool guy!
Take Brian. STAT 201 isn't going to be the easiest class in the world, but Brian makes it less stressful and takes every step to make sure his students succeed. Do yourself a favor and take Brian
One of the nicest professors at UT. Always ready to help and shows that he truly cares about his students! Provides enough material to be able to do well on exams, and office hours are super helpful too.
Stevens is a great professor overall. He explains the content very well, and is willing to work with his students. If you need to take STAT 201, I highly recommend choosing Stevens as your professor.
Brian Stevens was one of the best professors Ive ever had! He cares so much about stats and his students. I had this class everyday at 8 am and never woke up dreading it because his lectures are so interesting. Not a single bad thing to say about him!
I had Brian for BAS 320 & made sure to have him for 474. These classes have high difficulty in nature because coding is a difficult skill; however, Brian is the best possible professor. He provides so much assistance and makes all of the classes very enjoyable because of his passion & lively personality. Hands down the best professor I've ever had!
if you need to take STAT201, I highly recommend taking him. The class is very doable if you pay attention to lectures. He is always willing to help and answer questions without making students feel bad about it. Nicest teacher I have ever had, hands down.
extremely helpful outside of class so get help if you need. he averaged our last exams with our quiz scores so always try to get those easy 100s. Go to online class because he will give you extra credit for going and answering questions!
I would 100% take Brian if you have to have STAT201. He is so easy to work with and is more than willing to help you if you need it. I took his class online, and his YouTube live lectures are awesome. Lots of opportunities for extra credit on projects and even your overall grade.
Brian is the GOAT! By far, my favorite professor at UTK. He is the best, so accommodating, responds to emails in minutes, incredible. I love how much he loves teaching and helping out us students. TAKE HIM!
Brian Stevens is the diamond standard, and sits at the pinnacle of his craft. He is an amazing lecturer, gives you all of the opportunities in the world to do well, and truly cares for every one of his students. He runs the Stat201 UTK YouTube channel, and you definitely should use the videos he uploads to supplement your studying. Take his class.
Brian Stevens is the best professor I have had in my three years at UTK. He cares so much about his students and does his absolute best to help you understand the content he teaches. He responds to emails so fast, I once emailed him a hw question at 3am and he replied right away. He gives a lot of extra credit if you participate in online class!
Brian Stevens is hands down the best professor. He is so caring towards his students and genuinely wants them to succeed. At the end of the semester he gave plenty of opportunities to receive max extra credit where he would add 2 total points to your end grade. If you don't get him, I highly recommend watching his lectures on Youtube
Brian is BY FAR the best professor I've ever had. You can tell he absolutely loves his job and is super caring about his students. I swear he never stops working. He has so many videos and extra help that there's no way you couldn't pass if you just try. He gives out a lot of extra credit too. Do the MyPearson HW and quizzes and you'll be fine
Brian Stevens is a true teacher. He motivates, entertains, and educates all at the same time. He is very respectful of his students and although I didn't think I would like Stats (I'm not a math wiz) I did really well in the course. I worked hard and stayed close to the study whenever it was online. He made it fun.
Yall Brian is amazing. Hes such a good teacher, and he genuinely cares about his students. I had him for Stats mini term, and Im not good at math at all, and he really made me feel better about it all. Hes so funny and puts his all into his online lectures to make them engaging and fun. He was my last college class, and it was a great one.
Brian was an outstanding professor. He has been my favorite professor so far at UTK! He gives extra credit if you participate in class and also gives great feedback on assignments/exams. If you get the chance I definitely recommend taking him!
Professor Stevens really cares about his students and wants you to succeed. Stat201 was not an easy class but Stevens is your best bet for teachers. He posts lengthy youtube videos to help with concepts and I highly recommend watching them if you don't understand. Make sure to work ahead on the projects and turn them in early for extra credit!
This was the first time I ever even attempted coding, so the class seemed daunting, but Brian was exceptional at teaching this material in an accessible and understandable way. He made my 7am class fun and I looked forward to it. I was unable to have him for 474, but I watch his YouTube videos when I feel stuck. Easily my favorite professor ever!
Hes a great professor that is clearly passionate about having his students learn and actually understand the material. He always gives extra help so youre never afraid to ask extra questions.
Brian is an amazing and fun professor. I took many of his classes and enjoyed every single one of them. He even inspired me to get a minor statistics. He is so passionate about what he teaches that it makes you passionate about what you are learning. He honestly cares about his students and their future success. Highly recommend his classes.
The best stats professor youll ever have! Replies to emails really quickly, has so many creative ideas for teaching class its literally never boring. He makes you understand statistics even if youre not good in math. Highly highly recommend him! The reason I want to take more stats classes honestly
Amazing. Thats the only way to describe him. He truly wants you to learn and will give his arm and leg to see his students do well. The BEST STATS professor!
Brian is one of the best professors I have ever had. His lectures are so much fun and makes class enjoyable. Would 110% take again. P.s go to office hours and youll easily get an A
I was terrified to take this class but Brian made it totally manageable. He provides video help for almost all the assignments including homework and quizzes. He goes out of his way to engage with students and make class fun and even adds points to your final grade if you are engaged.
I don't think I can put a glowing enough review here. Brian has a ton of help material and truly cares about your success. Very friendly and entertaining (ask about video games, movies, etc.) and gives good feedback if you are unsure on any assignment. Everything I could want in a professor and my favorite by far. You will want to take him again.
He provides great feedback and is understanding of student feedback. He is easily accessible and thoughtful in his lectures. They are hilarious and super engaging! Hands down, the best professor Ive ever had. He is the main reason why Ive decided to minor in stats. (P.S Hi Brian, I know youre here bc you care about student feedback (: )
Brian Stevens is taking education to another level. He is revolutionizing the way students can learn by being engaging and holding attention throughout the entire class. I looked forward to going to class every day.
Mr. Stevens is hands down the best teacher I've had at UT. While some online classes are a bit boring and tedious, he put in a world of effort to make his class immersive and fun. I've never been great at math but I was excited to go to his class every day no matter what.
Brian is an incredible teacher that makes himself VERY accessible. He is very relatable and gets to know his students. He makes course content very linear, and if you don't understand something during a lecture he will happily clarify or rephrase what he's saying so you understand the concepts. Don't be afraid to ask for helphe will gladly do it.
Unreal. This guy is what I wish every teacher was. His lectures are actually live streams on YouTube and he does them in a gamer type format. It's actually entertaining to watch, and honestly one of the best formats of teaching I've seen at UT.
easily the best professor at UT. He puts a lot of effort into helping his students. He does tons of review on Youtube and Kahoot. If you put in the effort, you can easily get an A and come out with a positive opinion on Stats
Brian is the best professor I've had at UT. I've always been terrible at math but he makes it easier to understand and gives SO many options for homework help and test preparation. 10/10 guy and 10/10 class. If you have to take STATS, take Brian!!
If you see Brian as an option for a professor, pick him! I had him completely asynchronous and I doubt I will ever have another teacher who made it feel just as involved. Not only is he quick to respond to questions, but his youtube lectures are a saving grace when it comes to completing assignments. He is so nice and loves what he does.
Brian is amazing!! 10/10
Brian is such a wonderful person and professor. You can tell he really wants the best for his students. He has accessible office hours every day, which was a real life saver for me while doing homework. He teaches through YT in a livestream format, and makes class fun. He can spend too long on one topic and I get bored, but he's great overall.
Brian is one of the best professors I have had and probably will ever have. Hes an amazing guy that really cares about his students and has the best lecturing format. Because he streams his class on YouTube, he has a professional streaming setup that really makes learning statistics entertaining. Hes awesome, and I cannot praise him enough.
Brian Stevens is the single most incredible professor that I have had my entire college career. Brian genuinely cares about his students and goes out of his way to make them feel important and confident in the material. Brian actually made me feel confident in a math class, which is my worst subject. I would recommend Brian to everyone at UTK.
Best Professor I have had at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. If you have to take STAT 201 he is the best professor you could possibly pick for this class. The entire class is enjoyable. My class was on YouTube and it was awesome. If you take it online you will get to meet MuBot, puppet shark, and possibly even Elon Musk.
Brian was the absolute BEST. Whether you're interested in stats or not, Brian makes sure to brighten your day and get you excited to learn! His teaching style is different than others (Youtube Live), but I feel that's what made his class so fun to go to. I'd recommend going to live lecture as much as possible to learn the best!
i really enjoyed this class. If i had this class earlier in the day i probably would have never skipped class. The class wasn't that hard and he was always really encouraging when you didn't do well. He is extremely accessible outside of class. He made learning entertaining. take Brian if you can!
Great professor, definitely would take him. He cares a lot and really tries to make it enjoyable.
Super kind and approachable.
Brian is well-loved & for good reason; he is super fun, engaging, and knowledgeable. One of the special few instructors who seem to actively love what they do. Steve Irwin, Mr. Rogers, Bob Ross, & Brian Stevens.
Brian is an incredible professor who teaches in a dynamic way. He is very engaging and just showing up consistently can earn you up to 2 bonus points towards your final grade. He will help at almost any hour of the day and makes time for his students. Watch the Kahoots and go to SI/Office Hours if you need help. A lot of helpful resources provided.
Great class, great teacher!
Easily one of the best professors I've ever had. Super creative in his teachings methods, love he uses YouTube instead of Zoom. Will also repeat things over and over and over, and is never phased by it. Very much just wants you to succeed:)
Brian is one of the best teachers Ive ever had in my life. He genuinely cares about how his students are doing not only in his class but personally as well. His office hours are an excellent resource and if you watch some of his videos and follow along youll be almost guaranteed to make a 100 on visualizations. Great teacher and person.
There should not be a single bad review about this man. Brian is easily one of the best teachers here at UT. He truly cares about his students and will help you any second of the day. Absolute GOAT of a teacher.
I can't write enough good things about this man in 350 characters. Brian's live Youtube lectures are amazing. He is so funny and super tech savvy with his livestreams. Very enjoyable to watch and he gives out lots of points (that add up to be extra credit). Brian also has a ton of resources for the material if you need extra help. Highly recommend.
Brian is easily the best teacher Ive had throughout my college career. The only potential downside to taking his class is every other teacher you ever have will pale in comparison. Seriously everyone needs to take Brian.
The best math professor at this school. Take his online class over any in person class. Not hard if you pay attention and do the homework. Easy to communicate with. Easy to get extra credit in class. Best Professor Ive ever had.
Brian is by far the best math professor I have ever had, let alone one of the best teachers I've had in general! He is very tech savy and uses Youtube Live to teach his online classes, and does so in a way that is kinda entertaining! There are many opportunities for extra credit if you attend lectures, and he is always available to help. TAKE HIM!!
Best/most organized professor I have ever had. Lives and breathes stats/helping students. Does everything on youtube which he makes seem more ideal than in person class. Don't miss your chance to take him.
The online YouTube platform is not ideal for me learning statistics personally, but he's so helpful and offers a lot of additional help + SI sessions. Brian is hilarious and makes online learning fun. The content does get hard, but if you go to class, give your best effort, and do the work then you're almost guaranteed an A.
He is so nice and makes class fun. There is so much extra help available, and because it's on youtube, you can easily find the information you need if you do not understand something. As long as you show up to class and complete the homework, you will pass. He is one of the few teachers that I look forward to going to their class.
hes awesome
If you do not take Brian, I do not know what you are doing. He literally the best professor. He explains contents very well. He provides a lot and a lot of help (office hours, where he solves quizzes & homework, helpful Youtube videos (Speedruns/ reviews), and test reviews). Just take him and you will not regret it.
Brian is a great professor. Even though the class is online he is the most accessible professor I've ever had. He's very quick to respond to emails, has help videos on almost all of the material, and holds office hours morning and afternoon. You also can get bonus points from attending and participating in class. Take him if you can!
Where do I even begin, Brian is the absolute best. Hands down the BEST teacher I have had. He is hilarious and his lectures are very interactive and he makes the class fun. A ton of extra credit opportunity and he is very accessible outside of class and will always answer any questions you may have. He is so caring to his students it's insane.
He's the best, you can kinda do as much work as you want to do. Going to class isn't require but I highly recommend it. He has videos for every assignment so you can always find help and if you can he will answer any question. He wants his students to do well and understand the material. You can tell he really cares.
Seriously the best professor ever. He streams class live on youtube & gives extra credit just for watching it live. He also posts extra videos going more in depth on topics. Exams are easy. He's super accessible & responds to emails very fast. Brian is sooo caring & goes out of his way all the time to make sure we understand & do well.
Brian Stevens is the best professor I have ever encountered. He truly does EVERY POSSIBLE to benefit his students and help them succeed. I can only hope to have a passion for my line of work in the future like Brian Stevens has for teaching.
Brian Stevens is a goat. Hands down one of the best teachers I have ever had. Has videos on just about anything you could possibly need help on, responds to emails very quickly and genuinely cares about his students. Never have enjoyed math but Brian made lectures interesting and fun. Attend lectures and take notes and you should get an A.
Made stats fun with his lectures. Had a great balance of being funny and entertaining while also doing a great job of teaching. Genuinely cares about his students learning and is very easy to talk to outside of class.
Professor Stevens is an absolute legend, by far the greatest teacher I have had at this school, it is a shame I could not take his class in person and more of a shame I took the winter semester, I wish I could be in his class for an entire semester he is amazing
If I could give this man a 25/5 I would Lectures are so fun, and he turned what could've been a very dull class into an absolute blast. Brian is extremely responsive and he cares so much about his students. I even learned a TON and Brian made it so much fun. If you have the option to take his class DO IT.
This was by far the best class I have ever taken. Brian is such a caring guy and I would take this class again in a heartbeat just to have this experience again! He really does want to see his students succeed and gives everyone plenty of opportunities for extra credit.
Hands down the best teacher I have ever had throughout school. Never seen a teacher care for his students the way he does. Makes lectures so engaging and entertaining, if you reach out to him he will respond within minutes, has videos on anything you could possibly need help with, and offers so much extra credit, even simply showing up for class.
If you are taking stats at Tennessee, you are crazy if you don't take Brian Stevens. He gives you the best shot at succeeding because he cares about his students and his lectures are easier to understand than the other professors. This guy is the stats goat. Also, he has class on YouTube live and he goes through Homeworks / quizzes on office hours.
Stevens wasn't even my professor for stats (regrettably, all this sections were full) but I still go to his office hours on YouTube every week for homework help. He is an amazing prof and its obvious he wants his students to succeed. Take him if you can!
The best educator I've ever had. He's engaging, grades fairly, available for help almost anytime, and is in touch with his students. His forms of teaching (live, online, or you can re-watch videos asynchronously) also fits many students schedules and learning styles. I've gotten help in other BAS classes too thanks to him and Discord.
Professor Stevens is the perfect professor for people who have trouble learning in a "traditional" learning environment. However, for students who are more Type A and organized, his lectures feel very ADHD and confusing. I struggled to pay attention because of the way things would get off-task very easily. Stevens is a great guy, but not for all.
Brian is hands down the best professor that I have had at this school. I have taken him for 3 semesters and wish that I could take more! He is more than willing to help understand assignments and concepts and he replies very fast. If you have the chance, take Brian Stevens!! I will reccommend him to anyone who comes to UTK as long as he is here!
Brian is the sweetest and most entertaining professor Ive ever had. Lectures streamed twice a week. Homework online, fairly doable. Insanely supportive. Responds very quickly. SI sessions very helpful. Highly recommend. He strives to help us, academically and personally. Exams more difficult than coursework. Study with YT videos.
I had never taken a statistics class before, and he made the material very easy to learn. He was always happy to help if you had a problem with the homework, projects, or any other assignment.
Best Professor I have ever had. He actually cares about his students and the content he is teaching. He knows the material like the back of his hand and always is available for help. His teaching style is fun and repetitive so the things you really need to know get engrained in your brain. Brian makes statistics fun and has me excited for BAS 320.
Brian is the best. He has been my favorite professor so far, and I would definitely take one of his classes again. He genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. I am not the best at math, and I usually hate online math classes. However, Brian's streaming format is awesome and it is really easy to stay engaged and learn.
As everyone says, he is so much fun and makes a fairly boring and difficult topic fun and exciting. I loved the way he taught and made it so interactive while also being easy to pass. He genuinely cares and makes you feel that you have a connection with him, even over a computer screen.
Brian is an amazing lecturer. If you have him, count your lucky stars! Statistics itself is an extremely easy mathematics, (one of the less demanding of the math subjects) and truly his class makes it feel like time is going by because you're having so much fun!
Absolutely incredible teacher, my favorite so far at the University. Online YouTube lectures are incredible, and Brian makes the class extremely fun. Just be active and participate and it'll be an extremely entertaining class.
Brian is great, I didn't even have him as a professor (all his sections were filled), but I went to his YouTube streams every week for HW help and test reviews. He goes over every project and assignment. I probably would have had a hard time passing this course if it wasn't for him. Take his class if you can!!
Quite the good profesor
Awesome teacher that cares about his students and makes learning something bland (like stats) fun and engaging. Quite literally a UT legend and gets brought up in other classes as an example of a great teacher.
Brian is an absolute beast. So helpful during his office hours and he wants you to clearly understand the material. Such a wonderful teacher and coming from a english-minded person, he helped me understand the expectations for each assignment and the test. He is online for me but has said next year he will be in person. 15/10 would recommend.
Brian is one of those professors who was born to teach. He is so caring, extremely understanding, and funny. I felt like I got to know him as a person, not just a prof. Stats can be hard but he tries his hardest to make it easy. Having the class on YouTube was overwhelming at times but it's really fun! A lot of HW&quizzes but it's good practice.
I didn't even take Brian for Stats 201, but just watched his youtube lectures. He is so funny and patient and will explain everything in so much depth. I wish I would've taken him. Really a great guy.
Brian is the best! He live streams and records every lecture, office hours, review session, and chapter recap. Anyone can access his material and you'll always be prepared for the tests. There should be no reason not to get an A, he provides so many resources and he's so helpful. Lots of homework/ quizzes but that's departmental.
The YouTube format was a little confusing at first, but now I wish all professors used YouTube. Brian does an AMAZING job of explaining everything so that it makes sense, and the HW/quizzes were actually very manageable and helped me understand the content. As someone who usually doesn't do well in math, I actually really enjoyed this class!
Professor Stevens was one of the best professors I've ever had. I took his course over the winter Mini term. He is so easy to reach outside of class and responds within the hour without fail. There is plenty of opportunities to get extra credit. Show up to office hours always! If you do that you will get an A. Stevens if funny and friendly.
TAKE THIS MAN! If you enjoy Twitch streamers, he is basically just like one of those. He has little characters and memes. This class is very memorable (even if the actual material isn't the easiest). You can get lots of extra credit for just showing up and staying late. My grade was a B just because I stopped showing up toward the end.
At first, Brain's class was overwhelming. However, he's now one of my fav teachers. He explains topics decently well, but his speedruns were the things that helped me most. There were 3 exams, homework and a quiz every chapter, content quizzes every two chapters and data analytics. Overall, a lot of work, but his lectures made it easier work.
Take his class! Stats is hard for many people, but he makes it so much more bearable and fun. His class is taught via youtube with a chat so it's so interactive. It may seem overwhelming at first, but it gets easier. He gives so much extra credit especially at the beginning of the semester. No complaints with him. Loved taking stats.
This guy needs to be the face of the Haslam College of Business, if not the entire university. Many professors are brilliant but aren't good at teaching. Brian is profoundly intelligent and relays information in a way that is very easy to understand, even if the topic is complex. You get what you put in to his courses, and he has a lot to offer.
He's born to teach indeed. He lives up to his reputation and allows you the opportunity to process course information easily, as long as you put in the work and seek help when you need it. He's supportive, very fun, extremely approachable, even in an online format. If you struggle in online classes, don't be afraid to take his class!
Brian Stevens is an awesome professor who genuinely cares about the material and students in his class. I 100% recommend taking his online class!
Best professor by far. Brian is such a great guy and loves to teach. Class consists of 1-2 homework and quiz per chapter. Different visualization reports sprinkled throughout. One final project. Three exams (last one is the final - not cumulative). Such a fun and great class. Easy but you have some work cut out for you.
The best professor I have ever had. Truly cares about his students and is great at teaching. He is very easy to reach out to and gives multiple different ways to reach him. I highly recommend taking him if you can. The class was fun and very easy to pay attention in, even though it was online.
Math is my weakest link but Brian made Stats so fun! He is the kindest professor I have ever had and really cares about each student. Brian takes a lot of time to make sure everyone understands the material! Take him if you can especially if math scares you like it did me! You have to put in some work but nothing too extreme.
I was worried I would not get an A in stats and without Brian, I wouldn't have. Truly the best. My best advice I can give is go to office hours and SI. SI helped with reviewing before tests. But overall, Brian is a great professor and hilarious. I actually had my parents watch one of his lectures because he was so funny. Also, He gives EC.
Brian Stevens might be one of my favorite professors to talk to outside of class. While in class, his lectures may feel disorganized and a bit stressful because everything is random, his office hours will help you absolutely one hundred percent. He will help you in every single way possible. You will leave with absolutely zero questions.
Brian Stevens was an incredible professor in most respects, but he insists that there's no class time to lecture (and turns to online homework lectures) but at least half of the total class time was spent rambling about various stats concepts that weren't part of the curriculum and simply served to fill time.
STATS is HARD but Brian makes it possible! MyLab quizzes are quite difficult, but all of the answers can be found on his office hours even from years before!
Brian was an awesome instructor and taught statistics so well over the online mini term. The class was hard, but he made it manageable and always helped whenever I needed it.
An amazing professor to have, my only complaint is that sometimes the classes are unorganized and seem pointless to be there.
Brian is great! He cares about his students success and I cant say enough good things about him. As long as you go to class, watch speed runs and review videos you will do just fine! Loved his class, but so does everyone! Lots of homework but its not too bad and it actually helps you learn the material, never had that in a class before.
I was so nervous about taking this class online but Brian is genuinely one of the best professors I've had. He works out so many of the homework and quiz problems during office hours and you can go back and watch them. There is a lot of work and the content is hard, but there is no issue getting a decent grade if you utilize all the resources.
Brian might be the most accessible and most enthusiastic teacher in all of UT. His YouTube livestreamed class format is super engaging and keeps you enjoying the material. There is plenty of opportunity for extra credit and his teaching hits everything you need to know. Must take teacher
Stat is just hard in general, but Brian is so awesome I'd do it all over just for him honestly. Clearly he's the goat, so I don't think I need to say anything else luv u bribri xx
Professor Brian is fantastic - super engaging and makes a tough subject doable. Utilize all the resources like livestreamed classes, office hours, and tools like unstuckstudy ai to ace this course.
Brian is the by far the most caring professor at UT. He is so passionate about the success of his students as well as the content of the class. A great guy and I would recommend taking as many classes with him as you can.
There is so much course content on the YouTube channel. I thought it was great that I could find Brian working every single homework/quiz question and I was never stuck. The walkthrough videos for the project made that assignment much less daunting. The exams are weighted pretty highly, but attend office hours and use the review materials.
Along with Brian being a stats genius, he made me feel like he cared about every one of his students, even though there were so many. He is by far the most helpful professor I have ever had because he offers many opportunities after and in class to help us excel on the tests. Also, you get extra credit points just for attending class!
Micheal Jordan of Stat201 teachers
I didnt even have him as my stat 201 professor but still feel the need to write a review for him. His youtube channel helped me out so much and I learned basically all of stats from it. I wish I had him as my actually teacher and hopefully i can in the future.
Brian Stevens is the BEST. He cares so much about his students. Definitely go to in person and online office hours, as he goes over every assignment in detail and you can do them along side him. It is so obvious how passionate he is about his job, and he makes online class interesting and fun. 10/10 recommend for Stat201.
Brian is the best! Go to class! He does an online YouTube stream for class and it is so amazing! He gives points if you show up that give you extra credit for your total grade. This ended up being 1.5 total points by the end of the semester. He has YouTube videos of every assignment that guide and explain every single problem. Take him!
Class was hosted through a live YouTube stream that was posted after the stream was over, so it was fine if you couldn't watch class because you could just go watch it later. Professor Stevens is very helpful and knowledgeable. He offers extra credit for class participation. Would recommend this class if you are able to learn online.
Professor Stevens was an amazing professor. Take advantage of his office hours and attend the lectures!
Best professor I've ever had in my life makes class actually fun and exciting to go to.
Brian is hands down the best professor I have ever had at the UTK. He goes above and beyond for his students, with so many opportunities for extra credit. He genuinely cares about each and every one of his students, always making time to answer questions, provide support, and ensure everyone feels confident in the material. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Had Dr. Stevens for online Stat 201. Pay attention, take notes, and honestly his lectures are fun. He really did a good job presenting the information. Online classes are hard to focus in, but as long as you participate and stay engaged you will do really well.
Brian is the G.O.A.T.
Brian is the best professor at this school. He has helped me succeed when I was struggling and he is always willing to help you no matter what time of day or day of the week it is. It must be truly exhausting to put in the work that Brian does, but he always does it with an attitude that makes you glad to be a student.
Brian is a great instructor. I took him for a winter mini-term and still did well in stats. Brian made it so easy to understand concepts in stats. He was always accessible on Discord or email. Study your hardest and pay attention, and you'll be able to get through it, especially with the help of the massive archive of stats videos on YouTube.
Brian is easily the best professor I have ever had and I don't think I will ever have a better professor! He genuinely cares about his students and goes above and beyond to make sure you understand the material. I highly recommend going to his office hours! As long as you put in the work you will do fine in the class!
Easily the best professor I've had here.
He was easy to reach and always took questions. I personally didn't enjoy that you pretty much had to watch the Youtube channel outside of class to learn all of the material, but they were very good for doing so. He was always engaged during lecture time as well, so I would definitely go to class.
I love him so much omg. He genuinely cares about teaching and makes it fun for the students learning. He has managed to take a very tough course and make it very manageable. always wants to help and see you get better!
Brian is awesome! You definitely have to work hard in this class but there are tons of resources to excel if you are struggling. Weekly assignments can take a while but start early and follow the rubric (it's always laid out by what you will be graded on). Definitely recommend!
BEST PROFESSOR EVER. He cares about his students and teaches his class on YouTube, which makes it fun and interactive. During his online office hours, he goes over the homework and quizzes so you can work along with him. It was the highlight of my semester, and he made me like what I was learning.
Amazing professor, does a wonderful job teaching statistical concepts and teaches with great passion. He will go out of his way to make sure you get are successful in the class.Grading is extremley clear and fair, with plenty of partial points. Definetly go to his office hours if you need help.Overall, great professor and an even greater person
Brian is a very fun teacher, you can tell he really enjoys teaching and cares for his students. The course material is pretty easy for the most part. For exams if you do his speed runs and exam reviews you will do fine. Attendance is tracked by kahoot.
Brian was a fantastic professor. He is so passionate about teaching and truly cares about his students. There are 3 proctored exams throughout the semester but his lectures made them very doable. The only downside of this class is the handful of homework's and quizzes each week.

He is the BEST stat prof!
Best Professor ever! Such a fun class! If you need a BAS Elective, take Forecasting!
Not only is he arguably the best STAT professor, but also one of the best professors period. The way he teaches his online classes is the best I've seen an online class organized and structured. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!
all online course with youtube live lectures. Great professor who is passionate about statistics but classes are very overstimulating. He makes class enjoyable but only a third of class discusses statistics, over 2/3 is about random topics. Test prep is great and has so many helpful videos.
Brian Stevens is one of the best professors I ever had! He encourages memory retention and understanding of material through fun and engaging lectures. Furthermore, he deeply cares about the well-being of his students and is frequently accessible outside of class. I would encourage anyone who needs a Statistics course to take his class.
He's a good teacher for the most part, but his class is so ADHD and off topic. While he tries to make it so he can help people pay attention, I thought it was so hard to pay attention and honestly did not enjoy going to this class.
He makes class interesting and fun by making an effort to acts like friends with students rather than being above us. He is very easy to reach, kind, a nice grader, and a great professor! Take his class if you can!!
This is my second time having Brian Stevens (BAS320 also), and the reason I chose to go with him again is because he knows this is a hard program (R) , especially for non-coding wizards like myself. However, he is fair and the way he explains the concepts makes sense! He really cares about the subject being taught and his students! Great professor!
I have had Brian twice now and would take him for every class if I could. He is very passionate about stats and is very accessible. I also learned better by doing projects instead of tests, and it was way less pressure. Definitely take him if you can!
Brian is the best! He makes an effort to help you in every way he can. If you are taking stats, I would not take anyone else. GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS! He offers them online, and I went almost every time; he walks through homework, data analytics, and general examples. He wants you to succeed. If you study and pay attention, you should do great!
This class was fully online. Basically, a YouTube course and the live streams let you get extra credit. The exams were pretty easy, and Brian does a great job of teaching.
